Had to create a 10cm hole through outside wall for a vent. Super easy, drilled and hammered through the bricks like a hot knife through butter.

Superb hammer action. Remember to grease the drill bit or chisel especially if you’re doing a lot of work. Effortless through masonry.

I only use for occasional DIY not professionally so cannot rate on durability etc. I found it comfortable to use, not too heavy. Ergonomically well designed, easy to hold etc. Long lead is useful – in most cases at home it will reach the nearest socket without the need of an extension lead.
Disappointed that Bosch do not do an attachment for this for using regular drill bits – I had to buy one from Amazon.

Hard working drill and great value for money would recommend

    Excellent drill

The drill bits specific to this tool are not those you would commonly use and there in is a hidden additional cost. But still an excellent tool.

It’s a Great small powerful drill. Buts does not come with a standard drill bit. However, you can purchase a converter for about 10 – 15 pounds. (Don’t go for a cheap one)

The drill goes through hardened concrete easily. A normal hammer drill would not touch this before. Not something the DIY person needs all the time but great when you do.

Was really impressed by the power and usability of this.
While chasing out walls for our new home we had borrowed a dewalt cordless from our electrician and found the power and versitily very useful, but by the third time of having to borrow it I realised I needed to have one myself.

I have an 18v drill driver so considered the cordless route (battery ecosystem and all that) but decided to go with this one as the green Bosch 18v sds uses propitary bits and isn’t particularly powerful. Once plugged in and using the correct chisel bits this drill made easy work of brick, breeezeblock and concrete. The depth cage will come in useful while drilling out the screw holes for the back boxes.

If you have a lot of square footage that requires ultimate versility and portability then go for the Bosch Pro or another big boy name. If, like me, you’re doing some stuff short term but want a powerhouse for when you need to mount a TV or anything heavy, can’t go wrong with this.

And yes, as many comments have mentioned, you need to get SDS bits, without the chuck adaptor this WILL NOT work with your standard drill bits.

Nice design and has all the features expected for a hammer-drill/ breaker.
Not been tested to any degree yet, but have no reason to doubt the reliable performance of Bosch products.

I’m still a DIYer learning the ropes, now growing into taking bigger jobs in and around the house. Bosch is a brand favourite, a company whose cordless drill has served me well after so many years, job after job. I eventually reached the point where I realised drilling into brick and concrete blocks needed serious power. This drill simply meets all expectations, delivering power and ease, all without needing to be a ‘professional builder’.

As with all Bosch drills, they come neatly packed in a hard-plastic carry case. I immediately could tell this drill meant serious business by the forward grip, corded connection and emphasis on the hammer switch. Be warned, this drill does not come with bits. In fact, being a specialised ‘hammer drill’ this only accepts unique bits different from the usual- SDS plus drill bits. Fortunately, they are available in a set at an affordable price which I swiftly bought with this drill. The drill bit is easier to attach than the usual screw-tightening mechanism. The SDS drill bit slots directly in. You will find the drill bit still moves but this is part of the function as the movement provides space for the hammer motion. The dial is simple to set, with options for regular drilling, hammer drilling (for brick, concrete etc.) and even chiselling which may prove useful in the future.

I wish I bought this sooner, drilling with this is like slicing through butter! The drill on hammer mode, with the forward motion pressed, speared through hard brickwork without a second’s resistance. I am not a burly figure but still managed to comfortably apply enough pressure when holding the forward grip. You will also find a provided depth measuring stick attached to the side of this drill. This is a perfect means to avoid drilling too deep. A drilling job I used to spend half an hour on, was now done in less than 10 minutes. I also proudly found with such speed and power, drilling is more precise. The drill bit does not wobble or slide against the brickwork. I was afraid there would be some smoke or serious heat but nothing! The drill and the drill bit appears untouched battling through this type of solid material. I went further in drilling into a concrete post and the results proved the same.

If you want to drill through seriously solid material, just get a hammer drill like this from Bosch. The power and speed raise the limit on the types of DIY jobs now possible with this drill.

I have only used the drill for one job but should have bought the equivalent years ago. The bradstone our house is built from is pretty hard and I have struggled in the past with an ordinary drill on the outside walls. This drill with the required SDS plus drill bits(not supplied) made the drilling quick, easy and accurate. The drill is comparatively heavy compared to the battery one I use for general use but seems very good at what it was designed to be used for.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersHad to put up a fence which required drilling into a rendered breeze block wall to secure the posts. Originally bought a set of standard masonry bits for my makita cordless drill but even on the hammer function it just skidded about and knackered the bit (luckily tested it first on an inconspicuous part of that wall! )

Realising I needed a proper drill for the job I had the excuse the buy this. As I’m probably only going to use it once for this job I bought the basic model with a set of bosch sds plus bits.

Went into the block work like a hot knife through butter! Drilled 80mm deep holes with 6mm bit in less than 5 seconds. Awesome. Just hope I get to use it again as at the moment I’ve paid 75 for about 30 seconds work 🙂 . Still, a lot cheaper than paying the labour to put up the fence… and now I have a drill. Yeah!

Only started to use this in the past 5 weeks but It is lighter than my old Bosh drill, which is a good thing. Had to by new drill bits for it (SDS Bits) & ordered a chisel set for it as well. First time using a drill with a SDS was so fast & easy to use, just push in & when you want to take them out just pull back the collar & you just pull the drill bit out, no more chuck keys or twist & lock, Plus, No more spinning of drill bits. I’ve used the pneumatic drill, which to my delight I found that there isn’t much of any vibration. Drilled a few holes & it was a lot easier than my old Bosh drill, it was like you drilling in to butter. Life has become easier for my DIY jobs. The price is up there when you can spend about 30 on a cheap drill but this has got a lot more to offer & I’m impressed with it so far. Money well spent. Would I recommend this? Too right I would in more words than I could say. Only time will tell how long this is going to last me. If you are like me where you have collected all different types of drill bits over the years I’m afraid this product will only take SDS bits BUT NOT ALL IS LOST. You can buy a SDS chuck adaptor, Keyless or the old fashion way with a key. Don’t worry you don’t have to take the head of the new drill just simply slot the old fashion type of drill head in to the SDS drill head & away you go.

This drill is great. I’ve never had an SDS drill before and this has been a life changer! It really makes light work of drilling through concrete. Just a few seconds to drill screw holes in reinforced concrete. I’ve used a 22mm x 450mm bit in it and it worked without issue (The max recommended width is 20mm).

I bought this to mount some curtains up around the house and furniture that must hang on the walls.

I needed something to drill deep into the masonry and it did the job very well. The only thing that i don’t like its that thing that you attach it on the side to prevent you from drilling deeper than you need. Sometimes it just slips off when it hits the wall and i go deeper than i want risking going through the wall completely. Apart from this jts a great machine

Be aware this is an SDS Plus Drill, will not take standard drill bits. Shame it is not in product title or short description, just stated keyless chuck, mentioned some way down the page the sds bit. I had to purchase some new sds plus drill bits, but also purchased and sds plus adapter which converts it to a standard chuck too, so best of both worlds. If you decide on chuck adapter, get the Bosch brand (B0009W873Q) as read reviews on others and they fall apart.

This is my first masonry drill, and I found it very easy to use. Drill holes are precise, and the machine itself much quieter than my normal drill (however, earmuffs, goggles and mask are recommended to protect yourself from dust and other risks of injury). Drill bits not included, but this matches the product description (consider an extra 4-5GBP for each drill bit you may need). Great value for money.

    Type of use
    Advanced DIY .
Used on rotary / hammer with a 20mm core bit for pipes and on hammer only action to chase out cement for repointing , this drill made it ALL easy, absolutely no problem , of course removing old mortar you have to learn best practise with the drill and which way is most effective. That just took couple of minutes .
Previously I was struggling with repointing with hammer/ chisel because of hard mortar , this drill made job trouble free and lot less ( 50 % at least ) work.
    Drill performance
Well built , powerful , versatile , didn’t jam in bricks , doesn’t get hot when used continuously or enthusiastically .
    Conclusion
I paid more for the Bosch name on the tool ( though I know it was made in the far east ) because I hoped the maker would ensure quality in the product .
Good decision . Yes , I would recommend drill . well worth the money .

Never looked forward to drilling jobs around the house with my previous hammer drill (also a Bosch).. but this one did the job with significant ease by comparison because of the rotary action… almost no effort required to quickly drill 4 holes (10mm x 75mm) to mount a TV bracket. Didn’t come with any drill bits so ordered up a set of Bosch SDS Plus bits. It’s lightweight and good value considering the speed and ease of drilling.

So far it had enough power for every job.
The only thing to keep in mind is when you have to turn of electricity in the house because of safety reason while drilling, this won’t work. A battery powered impact driver would be the better choice but also less power.

Using this drill is one of life’s pleasures. I see why other reviewers have said they’d like to take their’s on holiday with them.

It cuts through concrete and brick like it’s not even there. You’ll actually be wondering if there is a problem with the wall you’re drilling into because it does it so effortlessly.

You have to buy new drill bits because it uses a great system for inserting and retaining the bits but this is also fantastic.

It’s also not just a hammer drill. It’s a normal drill, a driver and a chisel if you buy the chisel bits.

If you do take it with you on holiday, don’t check it in with your suitcases as baggage handlers will certainly grab it. The security people on the x-ray machine will understand and let you through when they see the look of joy and satisfaction you have on your face as you describe using this drill to them.

I have always been a fan of Bosch tool, second to none! Brilliant. The drill is no exception. The fact that this drill uses drill bits which lock into the chuck is what makes this drill so powerful when drilling into even the hardest lintel.
The added chuck means you can use normal drill bits which you have a chuck key for.
Drill would suit any homeowner or contractor, even when it drills into a masonary wall on hammer, it doesn’t have that horrid noise you get with a lot of drills.. Just be very careful because this drill fitted with the bosch drill bits will go through most masonary you just as well be drilling into butter!
