This makes cutting the hedge a lot easier as there is no more faffing about with a cord. I ran out of hedge before I ran out of charge, so the battery, although quite small physically, is up to the job. The end of the cutter has slightly different blades which are good for thicker, gnarly outgrowth bits. Now we just need something to collect the cuttings automatically .

Since purchased in May 2019, I have been using it almost weekly except the winter months. Now at August 2020, the battery and the trimming blade are still as strong as new. It is not too heavy, and there is no wire to worry about. I have been through 3 mains powered hedge trimmer, one battery powered one, but none of those as as good as this one. I use the same batter to other Bosch 18V garden tools, that is a good point too.

They work really well and are lightweight. I’ve used mains hedge trimmers for the last 30 years but these Bosch battery trimmers work just as well. The battery still had plenty of charge after 70 minutes of use.

Very light but cuts through quite thick branches with little problem. Battery last a long time and quick charging. I had one of the popular well advertised trimmers but was not strong enough and broke after a year and kept jamming. This Bosch is great. As I am seventy plus I find it handles comfortable which is important to me. Well built and works as advertised.

For years I have struggled cutting my hedge and bushes with a cheap cordless trimmer from a DIY outlet. This trimmer is so much better. I was able to cut my hedge back much further than before which has consequently stopped it growing so quickly. It is light and easy to use and I have used it for about 30 minutes and it is still going and has not lost power. The re-charging time is quick. This was a great buy.

Very happy with this trimmer. Not having to worry about cutting through the wire and having to use extension cords is just great. The battery life is impressive.
    Throughly reccomend.

I’ve owned a few hedge cutters, but cheaper ones sadly, and therefore been struggling a lot with the job. Not so this time! The Bosch impressed me and made the job SO much easier, including the relief of not having to worry about a lead to cut through. Quick and sharp cutting with no troubling jams.

I took a punt on a cordless cutter and I am delighted. We have thick Leylandii trees in the back and they are a nightmare to keep trimmed. This makes much easier work of it. Perfect, light, easy to use, powerful motor for thick branches and a very good battery life.

Superb. Very light and cuts very well.

I had intended to buy the 55 cm version to replace a 60 cm petrol hedge trimmer, but got this by (my) mistake. However it’s so light I can use it with my arms fully extended so I can actually cut further than with the petrol one.

I bought this trimmer because my mains trimmer was becoming heavy and you have to keep an eye on the mains cord all the time. My hedge is mixed holly, beach and privet, 75 ft long and up too 5ft high. The Bosch is much lighter, is much easier to use sideways and on top. The only surprise was that you need to use the oil spray on the cutting blades to stop than from rusting unlike the mains machine.

I’ve picked up a habit of purchasing Bosch tools over the years and they’ve always served me well. And this is no exception. I used to have a corded trimmer for a good while and I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve sliced through the wire. No more! I’ve not used another cordless trimmer to be honest but compared to my old corded one and my larger petrol one this is pretty light. I used it for a good 2 hours first time out and my arms and shoulders felt great (6ft male, pretty fit and strong). The battery life seems pretty good too, the great thing is I can swap in the batteries from my Bosch cordless drill too.

The twin’ 18v battery’s for all ‘fitted perfectly. These were from the portable drill I had purchased a while ago. It is not clear when reading the other reviews if this works IT DOES! I already have the non battery cutter and found that the cable was tripping me up NOW I’m free. Would recommend this appliance to anyone. I have 100m of hedging to trim and find this works on one charge. It was only a quick trim and not heavy duty but if I have to change to the second battery and charge the first on a heavy cut OK. My only problem was a long delay from Germany Not sure why. Otherwise 5*. John (a real purchaser)..

Delighted with the power and efficiency of the hedge cutter. Used on a 7ft high 40+ ft long hedge with no problems.
The blades have a long reach and have no difficulty cutting through thick stems. As an added bonus there is no need to be constantly be aware of where the power lead is. It is well worth paying a little more for a high quality, with the added bonus of the battery being interchangeable with other Bosch tools in the range.
    Can recommend without hesitation.

Wow! I was really surprised by these trimmers. Having used petrol trimmers for a number of years I didn’t think these would hold their own but I was prepared to give them a try, as the petrol trimmers are getting quite heavy now. Boy was I wrong! I went out to test them on a section of my hedge that had gotten overgrown and before I knew it I’d done the complete hedge. These trimmers are powerful and they easily cut through some of the thicker foliage. They are light weight, very light weight when compared to my petrol trimmers. I didn’t think the battery would last for the entire hedge, I was wrong, I had absolutely no problems with the battery life at all. In fact I think I could have also done the neighbours side of the garden too. I was thinking about maybe purchasing a second larger battery, but now I’m thinking hold off for now and see just what the capacity of this battery really is. Great purchase!

So good to not have a trailing lead as I was working and a good length of sharp cut. Would have been useful in the instructions to have a specific note as to if lubrication of the blade is required or not.

This is as good as people’s ratings say it is. The only niggle I have is with the instructions. They are non-existant for a hedge trimmer beginner and we had to scour the internet to get some idea how to use it.

This is one of those items you buy and wished you had got one sooner. The difference in doing hedge cutting with this compared to a cabled model is like night and day. I was mainly buying it because I was sick of cutting through my cables, but the ease of doing this job has been the greatest benefit. It’s now taking about a third of the time to do as the cable factor has been removed. I was slightly worried about cutting power but this cuts through normal hedge with ease.

Also it’s incredibly light and balanced for its size, with a battery that last me 3 or 4 cuts of 10 metres worth of a small garden hedge. I have not actually run out of battery but just recharge it after a few uses if I remember. The one thing I am surprised about is the price of a spare battery (currently 50) but for most people one battery will be just fine. I read somewhere that it’s best to remove the battery and keep in the house if you are storing the trimmer in a garden shed, as supposedly the winter temperatures can damage battery performance if stored outside for long periods.

Dont normally write Amazon reviews, but after toying with the idea of buying this hedgecutter for months unsure about whether it would be powerful enough, I finally took the plunge and purchased it.
We have a 30m holly hedge in the garden and this thing handled it no problem! I know the battery is new, but it lasted for the whole session without needing a recharge.
My only negative comment is that the plastic around the handle is a little thin/brittle – not sure if it was damaged in delivery or got knocked in my shed, but have cracked the handle slightly. Otherwise for the pure ease of wireless use this thing is great, and the teeth at the front do manage to cut through decent size branches too.

This product is amazing, so cost effective too. You can throw away your corded and petrol gadgets. Get this. I trimmed a 5m by 2.5m hedge with thick stems… no sweat. The item is light, it’s not noisy, the charge lasts for a long time. I was surprised how quickly the above task was done. I then got on top of our outside house and started trimming down trees that were over hanging that was a done efficiently too. I’m very happy with this purchase. 5-STARS

Golden Review Award: 25 From Our UsersI previously used a petrol-driven hedge trimmer, but when this broke I decided to research greener alternatives. This model seemed to be well thought of so I took the plunge. And I have to say I am very satisfied with it. Lighter than the petrol one it replaced, it is easy to handle and performs better. I particularly like the fact that the tip of the blades has a section for cutting through larger than average branches (although you have to set your expectations reasonably here – this is a hedge trimmer after all, not a chainsaw!). Having had some issues with battery life on cordless, rechargeable lawn mowers, this was one area I was concerned about. But in line with other reviews, the battery life is exceptional. This year I pruned back over12m of laurel (front, sides and top) quite severely. It took me well over 2 hours of intensive pruning to get the hedge level and down to the required height, and I managed it all on one charge! The end result was the best I’ve ever achieved due to the ease of manoeuvrability while in use. Highly recommended.

Had cordless hedge trimmers before, but this has power, length, weight and durability spot on. The second hand grip has additional switches for those difficult angles. Great product. Additional bonus is the One4All battery which can be interchanged with other tools, so even if you see this as a spare battery with a free trimmer you’re on a winner.

Needed something to deal with a long, mixed hedge (5 to six foot tall) at my allotment. Had used a petrol cutter before but they’re pretty heavy. My concern about the Bosch was that 18 volt might be under-powered or I’d need to recharge battery to get through the whole job. As it turned out, this made things much easier than usual and I didn’t have to recharge. Very impressed. Cuts easily through the lighter stuff and managed some rogue sapling branches up to half an inch or so well too. When you hit bigger stuff, it just stops, which is fine. Don’t often bother to review things on here, but thought this was worth recommending. Especially for anyone who might be struggling with a petrol or corded model. I’d feel a lot more confident waving this around on top of some step ladders! Does come with charger and a battery.

I use an 18″ Electric Bosch Hedge Trimmer for 4ft box and 8ft conifer Hedges and it does a super job. I also use a cheap DIY store cordless 18″ which has given up on me. My wife prefers its lightness for smaller bushes and finicky trimming jobs particularly in Autumn and Winter.
I have other Bosch Hand Tools using the ‘All for one’ common battery system so I decided to follow this route and bought this one. Once again Bosch have hit the mark – its light , easy to handle, cuts finger dia. branches with ease and is designed not to ‘clog’

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersFantastic bit of kit! I have been looking for a hedge trimmer for a while and have been very wary of battery operated as many have been such let downs! But this has been brilliant.

Very clean cut backed with a powerful motor! I have used it on our garden hedge which is about 12/15 meters long and 3/4 meters high it did the job brilliantly, got half way and gave it a charge which takes about 20/25minutes and completed the rest no problems. Was very surprised and how well is cut thicker branches as well, it managed to get through some about 4cm thick!

If you are undecided about whether to get a battery operated trimmer then I would highly recommend giving this one a go!

Note: I would recommend buying some all in one oil for the blades, give it a spray before and after every job to keep them nice and lubricated and sharp.

This is everything a hedge trimmer should be – light, sharp and easy to manoeuvre. I doubt it’s possible to get better than this for design and ease of use. The 18v battery is the same as in our equally excellent Bosch cordless vacuum meaning we were able to buy the trimmer it at a reduced price, too.

My first battery hedge trimmer -well worth the extra cost of a wired model. It is surprisingly light and on first sight, looked somewhat less sturdy than my wired trimmer. It wasn’t and can handle all the hedge trimming that I used to do with an apparently more powerful wired model but with the ease of use that comes with not having to lug an extension cable around the garden. Very pleased.

I bought this for a really tall conifer hedge and instantly regretted not getting one with a telescopic arm… However, it’s so lightweight it’s manageable to do the top of the hedge on a set of ladders. It feels safe, as I was surprised how lightweight it is. I already had the drill, so using that battery saved me a few quid too.

The battery surprisingly lasts forever too… I have quite a long hedge in the front garden and it has done two passes on it (so far) and it feels like there’s another two in it!

So, overall quite impressed! I wish I could extend it with a telescopic arm still though…so not perfect for me, but pretty much 98% of the way there otherwise!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersBought this to replace an earlier Bosch cordless trimmer (bought in 2011) which is still working but is getting a bit tired. The batteries are interchangeable and use the earlier charger. I also have a petrol trimmer, but the thing I like about the Bosch cordless ones is they are so light and effortless to use, yet cut through quite thick stems. Also you get Bosch reliability and after sales service (which from my experience on other tools is second to none). I don’t usually write reviews (life is too short!), but this item deserves one.

Very strong, easy grip and not too heavy, and the main thing is due to the reverse action when it cuts a thicker branch or with other shears would stop and jam it just carries on and cuts through, fast charging and long run time, highly recommend

Love how safe this cutter is. It senses blockages and cuts off if there is one. It has a tip that allows you to trim right up against a wall or the ground. It also only works two handed and is easy to use left or right handed. There’s no wires in the way. The battery life is great. It’s not lightweight but the shape of it is excellent with no awkward sharp corners, and so it’s easy to handle.

To be honest I was originally dubious about cordless hedge trimmers but having cut through two previous cabled versions thought I’d give it a go, certainly not the cheapest on the market but I was swayed by the make. Couldn’t be more pleased with it, amazingly powerful and easy to manoeuvre, and of course, no messy and annoying cables for me to cut through.

Technology has clearly moved on. This is a proper bit of kit that can handle a proper hedge. Lighteight, takes reasonably thick branches well and doesn’t snag. I was also really impressed that there was plenty of charge left when I’d finished. Highly recommend.

We have 40 feet of 7 foot conifer bush to cut each year and I hated the effort needed get my old trimmers to cut it.

I was a bit dubious of a battery powered hedge trimmer being up to the job compared with my old electric trimmer which struggled to cut well.

The Bosch trimmer is lighter than my old electric trimmer. The batter charged up in about an hour, and once clipped in I set off to tackle the hedge.

In 10 (yes 10!) minutes I had finished trimming the sides of the hedge. Normally this would take 30-40 minutes plus breaks for aching arms!

The Bosch trimmer cut and hedge sides with ease, and where the branch was a little think it occasionally stopped – you just release and click button again to continue. Little tip – the top of the trimmer blades has 10 cm of heavy duty cutting blades that sort out any thicker branches – so just sweep the tip near the thicker branch and it slices through no problem.

I didn’t have to go over any patches as the cut is clean and flat first time.

    Mighty impressed…

These are a great buy. Battery lasted over an hour. Which was ample time to get around my privet hedges. The cut is very close and perfect for yew and privet. Struggled a bit on the conifers, but I have the Qualcast clippers for those.
I do not regret at all buying these and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend. I was dubious at the power and battery life at first as I have been cutting hedges for over 30 years and have used about 10 different brands.

Bought this as my electric one was a right pain to get out every time I wanted to trim the hedge. Getting the power cable to various places along the hedge was also a nuisance.

This trimmer has well exceeded my expectations. Its easily manoeuvrable very powerful as well, easily cuts through 15mm branches. And the special Syneon Chip stops the trimmer from ‘seizing’ up on large stems.

I am a 68 year old woman and used it in my garden for over an hour to cut back my garden shrubs and there was still charge left in the battery. It easily cut through branches that were approx 1cm thick. Not sure how long it will take to charge the battery but I like this cordless trimmer as I’m not worried about cutting through the cable and it enables freedom of use.

A well balanced easy to use hedge trimmer. After a full charge easily managed 45 mins cutting. This is the first cordless timer I have bought and I am really happy with the ease of use and not having to bother about cables and power which speeded up the task. It easily cut through privet hedge shoots and produced a crisp clean finish to my wavy privet hedge. The trimmer is well made and sturdy. Definitely recommend this trimme

Arrived on time. This is the third trimmer we bought in the last three years to trim our 100 meter hedge. This Bosh trimmer is light, very manouvrable. We bought a batter which takes 4 hours to charge from totally flat but lasts about one hour. On/Off buttons are in the right place so you can easily turn the trimmer sideways or up side down as its light and ergonomic. No cord to cut trough (which we did with the others). Cuts well trough finger thick brunches but remember this it is not a chainsaw. Highly recommended.

I have been using a 500W mains trimmer for the last 10 years and it has done the job well and still does but is heavy and takes some effort to push the springs.
I bought this light weight cordless to make my job a bit easier so I dont procrastinate.

It cuts in huge sweeps like a knife through butter, I cant believe how easily it gets through heavy growth.
The time it takes to cut my hedge is around 1/3 now.
As long as it remains reliable this deserves 5 stars.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersAstonishing performance. Used it for the first cut on 30m of 9′ high Cypress hedging then a serious attack – cutting back 3″ – on 10m of 12′ hedging – all on(less than) one charge. It was slowing at the end but that’s hardly surprising. It’s immeasurably better than the corded trimmer it replaced.

I didn’t think it possible to develop such a profound and romantic bond for a power tool, so quickly – it took ages for love to bloom with my cordless screwdriver – but if it weren’t for the danger of accidental castration in the throes of passion I’d marry this thing. That said, my wife might also have some say in those proceedings.

Golden Review Award: 223 From Our UsersBattery operated? Will it be up to the job? Should I buy a cheaper mains operated one with more watts?
Well, I took a gamble and went for it. Mostly due to not having to mess about with cables. I’m very impressed, in fact I’m amazed! It’s an awesome bit of kit. To those people out there that say it jams, it doesn’t jam, it stops cutting when the branch is too much. All you do is release the trigger and start again. It is after all a hedge trimmer, not a chainsaw. I have no reservations over this now, it did take a few moments to chop through the thicker branches of my Jasmine but it did do it and I had my doubts it would be capable. Read the instructions, read the reviews, and you won’t go wrong. Anything this doesn’t cut then you really need to think about an industrial hedge trimmer or a small chainsaw.
I read so many questions about lubricating it and what to use. Firstly, do not use wd40, it’s not a lubricant or oil. I was I wasn’t sure about silicone or oil but 3-IN-ONE make a multi purpose oil with PTFE which is perfect.
I actually treated myself to a can of STIHL Superclean which is expensive but specifically made for hedge trimmers. It’s a resin solvent with lubricant. Definitely worth buying.
I used the trimmer for about 30 mins but not constantly and afterwards the battery recharged in 10 mins

More of a machine than expected

Well-made and light-weight. Cuts through thick hedges with ease. Battery life is good, and the interchangeability between different tools enabled me to buy just the hedge trimmer without the battery or charger, which was much cheaper, and at the same time I bought the power drill with two batteries and the charger and in that combination saved about 60 overall. Batteries charge within an hour and have a running time of 45mins+, ie the two together give an hour and a half uninterrupted work. By which time your arms are dropping off, so coffee time!

This is a quality hedge trimmer and for a small to medium size garden with not too many hedges it does the job well.
It allows me to trim all hedges comfortably without the battery running down and the blades are powerful enough to cut through thickish branches so I am delighted with my purchase. Finally the battery is the same as my Bosch strimmer so are interchangeable. I noticed when looking around for the best price that only ones that didn’t come with a battery were lower priced and look at the price of a stand alone battery so make sure it comes with it.

I purchased this because my petrol trimmer was becoming too heavy. I was reluctant to change because a) it was yet more evidence of the waning strength of my ageing body and also b) we have very high hedges and I didn’t think a batter powered trimmer would cope. On the second of these, at least, I was wrong. Very good battery life (it’s just cut 80 yards of 7 foot high laylandii before finally running out) and, because it’s relatively light, you don’t need to be Mr Muscles to use it. Although you wouldn’t want to use this to hack through the Amazon (the jungle that is, not the company) it can cope with most small branches: the teeth at the tip are slightly larger and I’ve found these will eventually wear their way through wood up to about 1.5cm thick. All in all, very happy

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersReplaces an older 10 yr old cordless Bosch which never failed (just borrowed by Son in Law). Plenty powerful for leylandii and similar grade hedging. OK with Holly and only struggles with older ‘core’ branches. Stopping due to branch thickness has been very rare for me in my lightly maintained, 0.75 acre domestic garden
Longer length than my previous device but lighter overall. Battery gave me 40 mins and still going strong when job had ended. Haven’t reached its limit yet unlike the 60 yr old bloke operating it.
Quiet operation, light enough to get a decent reach/stretch when needed and good battery life. Mustn’t ignore its cutting ability which has been great for me. Pleased with purchase and battery is interchangeable with other 18 v Bosch devices

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThis is the best hedge cutter I’ve ever bought. The blades are sharp – it goes through the hedge so easily. And because it isn’t petrol-powered it is light, meaning I can get through my 30-40 metres of hedge in an hour or so – the battery runs down after about 40 minutes. The Power4All system is brilliant – I recommend having two packs, as they charge more quickly than you can use them up.

Note: don’t buy this without the lubricant. I didn’t get any and the blades have slightly rusted already.

I bought this to replace a mains electric trimmer that had just died. I did not expect this to be as powerful as the previous one, and it isn’t. However, it managed to trim my privet hedge without any major difficulties. Occasionally it jammed on some thicker branches, but a stop-start technique sorted that out.
I can’t really say anything about battery life as it is a small hedge, but I took the battery out and used it in the compatible leaf blower to clear up without having to recharge.

Overall, not as powerful as the mains equivalent, but much lighter and so much more convenient. A good buy which I would happily recommend for light work.

Wasn’t sure which one to go for size wise so opted for this as it was the largest I could find. I Have a 7 ft hedge to deal with and large bushy plants around the rest of the garden. This went through everything with minimal effort and the job was done on a single charge and in no time at all. Comes with battery and charger which I wasn’t expecting for the price. Great time saver would definitely recommend!

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThe Bosch hedge trimmer is very light with good cutting ability and a powerful battery. It makes trimming the hedge a less onerous task. You may still need to get out the petrol trimmer sometimes or call the tree surgeon but this may make a significant part of the work easier. Highly recommended.
    Pros
    Well made.
    Light and easy to handle.
Good cutting action for braches less than around 0.5 inches.
Good battery that lasts 30 plus minutes.
Intelligent charging system gives speedy recharging.
Intelligent cutting system makes means that it doesn’t snag on branches like some cheaper wired and battery cutters.

    Cons
    None.

    Recommendations
Buy a second battery as this trimmer is so easy to use that it becomes a spontaneous thing to do until you find the batter is flat.
To cut thicker branches use the end of the cutter.

My son and brother have both cut through electric hedge trimmer cables in the past, so when I saw this battery powered model I went for it. I have 4x Bosh Power 4 All batteries anyway from two Bosh drills and they fit this trimmer so it makes it a no-brainer for me. It’s the usual high Bosch quality and if you don’t try to cut hedges that are too thick (keep the cuts below 20mm) then it works perfectly. Batteries last longer than I expected and are easy to change. I use it on a very large garden and get by with a single battery. 5 Stars.

Golden Review Award: 75 From Our UsersBrilliant. I’m an aging female and can handle it OK. Don’t be tempted to get a longer (heavier) one – this is just fine. There’s no such thing as a really light weight trimmer unless you go small. I’ve owned many hedge cutters over the years and this is amazingly better than any corded one. I can’t believe it. The battery lasts for ages and ages. It outlasts my staying power to keep on cutting. Very sharp. Apart from being cordless (what joy), the best thing is the first few extra wide teeth that enable you to chop through thick bits of privet hedge that need taking back a bit. Previously I had to stop and use secateurs/loppers.
Now I will keep on top of my vast expanse of privet hedge and cut it every couple of weeks whenever a few stray shoots pop up. That way you haven’t really got any mess to clear up. I still use a long handled cutter to do the top though. You don’t have to get up and down a step ladder so frequently with a long reach one. I’m not tall enough to do it without a step ladder.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersBought this as a replacement for an older unit that had finally died. Solidly built, good length for trimming hedges. Nicely balanced and not too heavy. Seems to give plenty of battery life for my needs (but I have a small garden). The 3-triggers on the handle offer nice flexibility to your ‘angle of attack’ and the ‘hammerhead’ helps getting up against walls. Only quibble is that the battery is (remarkably) easily mis-threaded onto the charger if you’re not paying attention! Arrived promptly although battery was loose in packaging.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI have had a Bosch mains electric hedge trimmer for many years but as i am colour blind i am prone to cutting through the cable as i have done on many occasions hence the reason for the purchase of this cordless machine. First impressions are: Whoa, what a machine! It is very powerful, it is reasonably light, the battery can go for a long time and when registered the hardware with Bosh, they extended the warranty to three years.

It is very powerful, for that reason I can recommend that once you open the box with this hedge cutter, your first job should be to read the security guidance and follow their advice. For example protect your eyes, be steady when using it, work away from pets and bystanders, do not store the device plugged to the battery; keep it away as in locked away from children.

Golden Review Award: 20 From Our UsersBought this Bosch AHS 50-20 hedge trimmer to replace my petrol one getting to heavy to use.
Have now used twice, and find it light and easy to use, specially with the three different on switches on the handle, so every easy to swap from left to right hand.
Battery life excellent, manage to do all my bushes (about twenty minutes) and still charge left, also quick to charge, I charge mine after each use, so ready at short notice.
Cutting ability, not a good as my petrol, but again this is a battery powered, and did do a good job, did cut out on a few of the thicker branches, but due to being light and easy to use, doing my bushes before getting to thick.
Would recommend to anyone looking for a light well-built hedge trimmer.

Golden Review Award: 66 From Our UsersI bought this to help to keep a length of Cornish hedge and a very narrow verge free of brambles, long grass, gone-over ferns and so on, because it seemed more versatile than a strimmer – and it is! So far, I have tidied the Cornish hedge, trimmed back overgrown euonymus, privet, gorse and escallonia bushes, and found it works a treat cutting back herbaceous perennials like Japanese anemones and catmint. It even cuts back bamboos, apart from old thick ones. I wish I had bought one years ago!
The battery charges very quickly, and although the instructions say that it will last for 45 minutes trimming, you have to remember that that is for continuous use – switched on all the time. Used as I use it, an hour’s work (involving stopping to pick things up, or using loppers to cut the thicker bits) hardly seems to make any impression on the battery at all.
The instructions also say that it will cut up to 20 mm thickness. I have found that over-optimistic, and it depends on the hardness of what you are cutting. Trying to cut even quite thin blackthorn twigs will make it stop, whereas it will cut through a greater thickness of softer fuchsia or euonymus.
This is an even more useful bit of gear than I had expected.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI am impressed by its power and the length of time the a battery lasts. It is very nearly as powerful as a corded cutter and should be adequate for all but the toughest hedges. I have yet to run out of charge as I tend to use it for 20 minutes or so at a time and the battery recharges very speedily anyway. As it shares batteries with other tools and I have a Bosch drill with two batteries ( ie a total of 3) battery life will never be an issue. Apart from the advantage of there being no cable, it is much lighter than a corded cutter and much less tiring.

Now I can occupy a few spare minutes with a quick trim – no need to go to all the bother of getting extension cables out, and no danger of cutting the cord. And it is quiet – no need for ear protectors, unlike petrol hedge cutters. I have not yet managed to flatten the battery, even after an hour’s usage. It is powerful – with care it will happily chew its way through thick branches.

Successfully trimmed several years growth of the neighbours massive conifer.
It doesn’t easily cut branches more than about 1cm diameter – however you can get through thicker stuff if you back off and have several goes and don’t push too hard. The auto reverse & retry action works quite well – it sort of gives you a warning that it’s going to stick and gives you a chance to back off. Also the blades near the tip work better for tough stuff.

Golden Review Award: 160 From Our UsersI have only used the cutter 3 times so far, but I am very pleased with it. I can only use it for about 20 minutes at a time because it is a reasonable weight, but compared to other similar machines I think it is relatively lightweight. I am just a weak woman! I was fed up waiting for people to turn up to do my hedges and decided I would try and cope with them myself by doing a bit at a time. I did some research and this machine got the best reviews. You need to buy some goggles and proper spray to put on the blade.

My only criticism is that it did not come with any paperwork, so now I have got to hunt round to see how to register it with Bosch so I get the 3 year warranty. If this had been provided I would have given it 5 stars.

Two years on and I am a bit disappointed that the battery does not last more than 30 minutes and it does not cut the hedge like it used to as it keeps stopping if the branch is any reasonable size. I have had it sharpened but it did not seem to make much difference. I am now trying to buy a second battery that does not cost as much as the whole cutter!
