Easy to use. Easy to swap out the sanding pads. Didn’t realise how many would be needed as it goes through pads quite quickly but I blame that on the wood being sanded! Gives good enough results when making a pallet bar. Can be a bit dusty but only used it outdoors so not really a problem
Used a fair few cheaper options over the years and this feels completely different. Only used a few times but so far cannot fault.
Time served decorator. Great little thing! for the price, does exactly the same as any other “well known brand” sander. Paper is easily sourced, 3 year warranty…would definitely recommend i
I used this sander for sanding down an old dilapidated bench and seat unit which was in a very poor state and I set about the task with this sander and the first thing I noticed was how quiet it was. To totally sand down the bench and seats took two hours and I went through 5 sheets of sanding paper from very coarse to mid coarse and eventually, it looked great. I then set about staining it with antique pine varnish and the finished job is superb (even though I say it myself) I think this little sand is well worth the money and the 3 year guarantee is very comforting also.
Purchased to replace existing mains sander, which stopped working, to rub down my garden furniture. Easy to use with good results.
Blew up my previous different brand mouse, trying this one instead. Easy to hold, on/off switch easy, emptying dust collector not easy but not too bad at all. NB black and decker mouse sanding sheets don’t fit slightly too small, need Bosch sheets.
Not the best if you’re sanding requirements are quite a big job.I bought it to sand my stairs which had some paint on them and it struggled.I ended up buying an additional orbital sander which was up to the job more than this.i had to use paint stripper then scrape it off.if you’re using it to take a thin layer off of wood then I think this will be fine, but that being said if the job is a lot bigger invest atleast another 40-50 into just buying one sander.
This sander is easy to hold, even for smaller hands. It is easy to set up and use. It glides along and does a great job on wood. Not tried it on anything else as yet. Also got an extended 3 year warranty online too. Win, wi
It’s an excellent sander. I used it to prep up my wooden staircase before painting, and it’s a real joy to handle.
When I bought this I thought there might be problem maneuvering around the cable but it was not an issue.
The dust extraction is also a great function and works better than I thought.
The only problem I see is detaching the dust compartment for cleaning is hard and somewhat fiddly. Then there is the inconvenient opening its lid. re-assembly is also not smooth, and if it doesn’t sit right the dust extractor becomes a dust sprayer (watch your eyes).
I like that the size and shape of sander has two different ones. The sheets are a bit expensive but last well.
The sander is lovely. Gets the job done. Easy to hold. However, the clasps on the case the sander came in don’t hold the case shut. Strange that everything should be perfect but something simple, such as providing a case where the clasps work, is badly executed.
This is the ideal sander for smaller jobs, it is easy to use and does a grand job. However recommend you only use Bosch sanding disks as the cheaper on offer do not fit as well!
I bought this sander to use for light furniture restorations. For the price this is a great piece of kit! Well made, with a good quality plastic box, and detachable dust catcher/filter. Really easy to use and gives a good result! I’m not an expert in sanders but I really like this and am very pleased with it.
Bought this sander as my 10 year old sander had given up the ghost and I had loads of jobs to carry out around the house and garden.
So far, its performed brilliantly, sanding all manor of items, from wood to car body filler. Cant fault it in any way …..
Great item for the price.
I was almost put off buying this sander by some of the negative reviews, but given the overall rating I went ahead and bought it anyway. Very glad I did. It’s a neat piece of kit, very easy to use and the velcro system for holding the sandpaper on works really well. I’ve used the sander several times and on some weird shapes. Being relatively small and light, it’s easy to move around on oddly shaped items. The dust collecting box stays firmly in place. Takes a little jiggling to get it off, but not an excessive amount. Does its job pretty well too. It doesn’t catch every bit of dust, so it’s advisable to still wear a mask, but it does suck up most of it. All in all, a good buy and one that has certainly saved me hours of manual sanding.
I bought this sander to strip a dark-stained door back to pine. This little sander is light to hold, gets in all the tight corners and did a great job. It’s a fantastic sander that I’d throughly recommend!
Good product for small jobs around the home. I used on windows and front door. A little tricky to get in some parts but overall did the job
Briliant sander – easy to hold, simple to use, does not vibrate through hands whilst using, sanders gets into all corners with shaped nose point, extra sheets bought separately from Amazon. Clear vents regularly whilst using (outdoors only) & wear a mask. Definitely recommend.
Brilliant love it
Ideal for indoor and outdoors making a huge different to my patio furniture and revamping my dining table and chairs
Really notice the improvement in build quality Vs my second old B&D mouse, which died from a battered nose (as usual). Feels lighter, but packs more real power. Much quieter, and less “buzzy” to hold in use, this sits comfortably in your hand, without feeling like an Eel struggling to escape, which makes it much easier to use on longer jobs.
The dust filter is 100% better than the mouse, both in not working loose / falling off, and actually working really well. Not easy to open, but I’d rather that the rattling shambles of the B&D offer.
Really like this well designed. civilised precision tool, thoroughly recommend.
This little sander is perfect for round the house jobs and even some small scale woodworking. It is so easy to operate and small enough to get into tight corners and hard to reach spaces. I have had two and both have lasted in excess of 3 years, which for their cost is exceptional!
Hello, I am a lady with small hands. I really like to DIY, this is my second Bosch sander – I burnt the last one out with excessive use, the fact I have bought a second (after about 10 years) says it all really. There are more powerful ones on the market but this is light, fits my hand and I can use it for long periods with out giving up. Good product.
I think i might have had too many expectations with this sander. It is good no doubt, that’s why i bought it, but it seems the fact it doesn’t collect the dust properly seems to become a problem in the future. I will keep it and use extra protection for myself from dust, but i would not buy it again. AND i bought it with the extra sander sheets as suggested by amazon and you can see for yourself how they fit on the sander.
This is my second Bosch multi-sander, although this one is slightly smaller and easier to manoeuvre.
I live in a Victorian house and have a lot of painted wood (gloss paint drips) to sand, this does the trick when using a variety of different grade sand papers.
My only gripe is I’d rather see a hoover attachment supplied than the dust catcher as it fills up quite quickly when doing a large job.
Nice little item, but dust terrible and dust box very difficult to remove and empty
Sander is great , but case it comes into is designed to lock the sander and cable in place with fixed plastic posts…which is great when the sander is placed inside at the factory but once the sander and its cable is removed its nigh impossible to get back into the case….so i cut the posts off with a multi tool saw…sorry if it sounds petty but when finishing a job and trying to get the sander back in its case takes 10 minutes its no joke
Two sander pads (different shapes) is really useful and are easily interchangeable, which I really liked. I did use both intensively for several weeks, so I had to replace both. They are not cheap, relative to the price of the whole drill.
Dose what it’s ment to do. Abit louder than expected. And the collection pot don’t really collect much tbh. So better with a hoover near when sanding.
For the price a good sander, seeing how much dust it makes my mistake in buying one without the dust guard, but does it’s sanding job very well.
It’s certainly sped up the process compared to sanding my hand, I’m doing some upholstery to some wooden dining chairs and also doing some DIY on a house so it’s been used for all sorts now. I bought this to replace my old broken palm sander, this one does have a little more vibration than my original and means I do have to take breaks more frequently/switch hands. But it works well, great for getting into small spaces as well as sanding door frames and skirting. I still have to use sand paper getting between the up stands on the chairs, but I think hand sanding is always going to still be needed no matter what sander I bought.
I wouldn’t suggest using this on lots of large objects, like too many doors or large pieces of furniture as it is only small and that would take a very long time, bit its fit for my purpose.
Purchased this small sander for work on two teak garden chairs with lots of small intricate areas to sand. Excellent in operation, small enough to hold with one hand and the sanding face in two parts enabling you to turn the sanding sheet to get best use out of them. Pleased with the purchase of a branded product at a competitive price.
This bought as a replacement when I found it was cheaper than a replacement sole plate! Maybe this means spares are wildly overpriced? It is suck a nice machine to use, with much less vibration in the hand than other machines, and the 2 part sandpaper makes for efficient use. Do check alternative sandpaper suppliers, which bot cheaper than OEM papers and available in a wider range of grit grades.
Not very comfortable will working with it. Does the job. Reliable brand.
This is fantastic value and did exactly what I needed it for with ease. I’m not sure how long it will last but for small jobs around the house, it is perfect, comfortable to hold, powerful and easy to use.
Its super quick at sanding & prepping to re paint your wood work ready for a new white gloss , ! Also awesome for getting black gloss off woodwork , &Back to bare wood … totally recommend !
It is powerful and very effective, but quite a lot of dust does escape. It is very difficult to get the dust collector off the machine. The on/off switch might be better if it had a lighter touch, it is better to use both hands whenever possible. But it did not cost a lot anyway except for the sanding sheets, but the Bosch ones are lasting well.
GREAT FOR SMOOTH SURFACES BUT WHEN TRYING TO SAND INDENTS – IE KITCHEN DOORS WITH GROOVE SOONS RUINS THE BASE PLATE
just need to do a simple job, therefore went for this budget one. But can feel it is not the best quality and a bit plastic.
Did exactly what I needed it for. Very pleased. You have to keep a strong hold on it but otherwise great.
I bought this to refurbish an old oak bookcase. It works best with the proper Bosch papers. Using the different grades I was able to remove all the old varnish and bring the wood to a beautifully smooth finish. It wasn’t quite possible to get right into the corners, but very close.
I love this sander. I am an old lady but I am stripping the stain and varnish off an old oak coffee table. So far I have done the top and am delighted with it. I have to rest as my hand aches after half an hour. But I’ll get there.
I used this on a bookshelf build today and it impressed me. I used to own one of the notorious Black & Decker sanders that don’t last very long, and sure enough it tore itself apart a few weeks ago. That thing was rated at 230 Watts and this Bosch is rated at 200 Watts, but the Bosch is by far the more powerful of the two. The Bosch has variable speed so you can more easily sand gently, and is much better ergonomically. The micro-hook velcro sanding plate grips the paper extremely well so I had no problems with sandpaper being shed during use.
The built in dust collector is a mini vacuum cleaner and like most of them it only collects a little of the dust — I hope things will improve when I get a full-sized Bosch vacuum cleaner that can be connected to it. It is easy enough to open and empty the dust box, but it is a bit harder than it should be to put that two-part dust collector back together after you empty it. This is a minor design flaw in an otherwise excellent product.
I wholeheartedly recommend this product.
To register this product with Bosch was a long drawn out affair. First of all the product wasn’t listed by Bosch on their online registration site. I was then told by Bosch customer service that it was a Qualcast manufactured item and that I should contact them. Qualcast denied this and passed it back to Bosch. After many irate emails to Bosch I finally sorted it out. This has definitely put me off purchasing Bosch products in future if this is how they conduct themselves. Very shoddy Bosch and not great for your reputation.
Really powerful.
Excellent for all types of jobs.
The only down point is the collection of dust. Pretty useless.
I purchased this to replace a B&D Mouse as I wanted the dust collection that this Bosch has built in. It does a decent job, but it is worth pointing out that it is larger than you may expect. It isn’t a detail sander, but more of a general purpose sander. Anyway it did a decent job of sanding down walls and woodwork prior to decorating.
Looked a various sanders but choose Bosch. Pleased I did it always pays to read reviews ,brilliant small easy to use and does a brilliant job.came in a sturdy plastic box for safe keeping.
Sander works well and triangular plate assists detail sanding. Collection box helps to reduce airborne particles but makes it slightly bulky when accessing restricted spaces. Haven’t tried it with other extraction fitted yet.
Lightweight and easy to use. Container is rubbish though and dust / plaster dust goes everywhere. Don’t expect it to gather the remnants. If you are bothered about this then pay more to get a sander with a vacuum attachme
Works good but on off switch in a stupid non ergonomic place, I not checked the filtration yet , looks fiddly to open.
Honestly, this was the most satisfying tool I’ve used since the power washer, very effective. I feel like an idiot for manually sanding beforehand. The sanding patches do wear out, but the first one managed two garden chairs and a small wooden-topped table before being replaced. I’d also recommend a face mask, even if working outside, as there is quite a bit of wood dust.
Nice sander. Works well. 4* because the dust filter box is a awkward to use and like all Bosch tools, the case is small and it is fiddly to pack the tool with its cable
i’ve used this so much that i burnt the motor out and bought a new one. I’ve decorated 3 large houses (every room), refurbished 5 dining tables, 4 coffee tables and done the bodywork on 2 cars and a vintage tractor plus numerous other odd jobs. dust collection and emptying is a bit poor but it always is with these tools. If it was made 10 years earlier the first one would probably still be going but cant complain by modern standards. changing pads is quick and easy though oem pads (which a best) are a bit too pricey
Love, love this sander small, light weight, and so easy to use. Have up cycled 12 pieces or furniture with it and been so good to use gets into all the smallest places. Brilliant!!
Boshe machine works fine, but attaching sanding ‘paper’ is less than ideal. The velcro type material is just not up to the task — very frustrating.
This is a replacement sander. Care must be taken to not over use or it will burn out as the old unit did
Easy to use sander, good shape to grip, not to heavy. Shape of foot allows access to corners but foot still large enough to sand flat areas. Sanding sheets fit securely to base and last reasonably well ( Bosch sheets). Dust extraction works to a limited degree and power lead on short side so 4 stars
Bosch is a well known, trusted, brand and that is one of the main reasons I bought this item. I ordered it yesterday and it was delivered today. Amazon is at its’ very best in this instance and is one of the reasons why I buy so many items rather than venture into the High Street.
This small sander comes in a fitted case and with dedicated sanding pads of various grades. I really like the fact that after use I can put the sander back into its’ case which is a very neat and compact way to store it after use.
Although it arrived a few hours ago I have already used it! There was an annoying dent in the wooden bannister at home which caught my hand as walked up and down stairs. This tool sanded away the, admittedly small, problem in a matter of seconds.
Finally, I would say that the weight and balance of this mini-sander immediately ‘told’ me that this was a quality item. At the price I paid on a ‘Deal of the Day’ it was a steal.

I am a big fan of bosch power tools anyway and this handy little sander is no exception , is easy to use with the sanding pads being easy to change with velco, the only slight problem I have is dust collector is a bit fiddly to remove.
This thing it great. I swapped an old rectangular orbital sander for this and haven’t looked back. I bought the additional sanding sheets from Amazon and set about sanding a heavily varnished old front door. Took a while but it is so light, powerful and easy to use – it also gets into nooks and crannies. Great for soffit boards, window cills & frames and other usual sanding jobs
Works very well, great for the little corners, but it can manage bigger areas too. The dust created is very fine, so it has to be near enough gas-tight. Consequently the dust box is quite tight and stiff. One note of caution though, the sanding pads that were ‘bought at the same time’ have five holes rather than eleven and they are too small, so although good quality, are no good on this device. The sander is excellent.
Works really well, especially if you buy the Bosch sanding discs – it is a perfect size for a small hand and great for getting into corners.
i have small hands and this is perfect. Finally a sander I can control. I wish manufacturers would also make other tools for smaller hands (often ladies). But not in a stupid girly pink. I want it to look like a serious bit of kit but for smaller hands.
Versatile sander which is easy to use and which fits comfortably in the hand. The iron shape is very useful for getting into corners. Removing the dust collection compartment and its cover however can be a bit tricky. Overall though a cracking little sander at a good price.
Good little sander – really simple to use & works well on most jobs. I recommend buying generic velcro fix sandpaper sheets and cutting to size to save money. There is a vacuum but be warned it still kicks out a good amount of dust – enough to cover a kitchen and get you in trouble with the other half!
Great little sander. Easy to use, especially for beginner DIYs and Weekend Projects. The starter pack of Sanding sheets is very useful and changing sheets is extremely quick and easy to do. The vibration and noise is minimal and within reason for a modern Powertool in my opinion. I usually struggle with grip and applying pressure but with this sander that wasn’t an issue. A bit of patience and it most certainly does the job for you. IMPORTANT ADVICE TO BUYER: Do be wary though of suggested additions that Amazon offer for packs of spare sanding sheets. They may say they go with sander but aren’t always compatible after all (I learnt this the hard way sadly so be cautious.). Spare sanding pads are easy to get hold of those as most major DIY chains stock both this sander and accessories.
Great little tool for the price
I wish it had a bit more power as you can’t use it for a long time as it overheats and you have to let it cool down.
Does everything you need and comes with a lot of sandpapers
A really good machine at an excellent price. It would have got five stars but the velcro stopped working after an (admittedly) long and hard spell of use. Amazon replaced it, though, and it is ready to go again. Sanding is so much easier now – and more precise.
Used extensively over the past few weeks as I have decorated my home and replaced a number of doors. The dust collector isn’t very effective, but better than nothing. Connected to an old vacuum cleaner it produces surprisingly little mess.
his is super , many years with a bigger model but never able to get into corners or up to edges , this is so flexible small yet loads of power.
his is an excellent little machine, only let down by the very great difficulty in removing the rear dust chamber and even more so the top of said collection chamber, which I found impossible and had to call on someone else to do it for me.
Well worth the money. I love this sander. I have just finished sanding a bookcase I am refurbishing .This sander gets into every corner and works fast. I like the dust collector as well. I am impressed and will definitely buy Bosch tools in the future.
Broke 2 cheap sanders in 1 day trying to sand my old cottage door and nearly gave up. This sander is just great, it’s light and produces excellent results. Another plus is the dust goes into a small dust catcher which means so much less mess when sanding indoors. Wish I had bought it sooner, would have saved me a lot of time with other projects.
made an error and thought the black surface was the part used for abrasion.. I’m an idiot, when it started melting I realised my mistake, luckily very little damage done (just a line of melted plastic on the pad).
Good product overall used it correctly for a load of jobs now.
Good, is effective and cheap though I was initially confused about whether the red base was meant to be a sanding pad (it isn’t, it’s for velcroing sanding sheets to). It will make your hand zing for a while afterwards! Used for sanding bedroom cabinets prior to repainting, did the job perfectly.
This seems to be a great little sander, and made short work of preparing a door for painting, which is all I’ve used it for, so far. I’ve given it 4 stars because the dust collector mechanism doesn’t collect much of the dust, so a star short of 5.
This handy (no pun intended) little sander is making a welcome collection to our growing DIY tool collection.
We’ve only had chance to use it for a few small jobs so far but I’m not seeing anything that would cause me long term concern. At the end of this review I’ve listed a shortened summary and pro’s / con’s list if you are after a lighter read.
I was surprised, having used my fathers electric sander before, how light this unit felt in-hand. With a heavier unit and the vibrations associated with the sanding action, you can become fatigued. This unit weighs in at about 1kg with thanks, in part, to there being no battery on this model as well as some refinements over the years, no doubt.
This is, by no means, a beastly machine. It’s not heavy duty. But chances are that you’ve landed here looking for something that fulfils the need to get some sanding done at home without breaking the bank, and this offering gives you something affordable, quiet (relatively), light and ergonomically pleasing to hold.
Some things I wasn’t expecting at this price range; the collection bin with filter, for one. In practice there’s only so much that can be vacuumed up during operation, given the balance between a good sanding surface and holes for suction, and power for the sander over the suction. The result is that you won’t see all the dust collected, but enough to make the system still worth while.
The collection bin is quite difficult to remove. Whilst this might ease with time, it nice to know it’s not easily going to come lose during operation.
The cable length is not massive. At about 2m you get enough cable to run from an extension / outlet near the work area and move about comfortably around the object in question.
The detachable plate at the front may offer some tangible benefit to some, but I’m not sure, given the cost of the unit, that replacing parts is going to be that economical.
Using the sander is quite easy. One-handed operation is permitted by the convenient location of the switch, and the shape and rubber grips lend themselves to comfortable use. Aside from the inevitable lateral vibrations, I’ve not noticed much vertical vibration.
Included in the, rather nice, carry case is also a set of 3 different graded sanding pads. Anecdotally a fine medium and medium-coarse set of front and rear pads.
In summary; this seems, for the price (which seems to fluctuate so keep an eye on that) this is a well presented piece of equipment.
Pro’s:
– Price
– Weight is nice
– quite comfortable and ergonomic to use
– not too loud
– enough cable
– filtered collection bin
– range of included sanding pads
Con’s
– Expensive (official) replacement pads
– doesn’t collect all the dus
Love this sander. Nice and light weight yet well balanced. I love the fact that it can be used really on any shape of wood as it has a pointed tip plate then the plate comes off with a click to the right of a switch on the front. You can then click on the straight plate for sanding larger straight areas. I am almost 66 years of age and a woman, so if I can use it I’m sure any one can.
Used to sand stairs – took quite a while but quite good for getting into the corners. If I did it again I’d get a handheld belt sander for the major areas and just use this for edges/corners.
Exceptional sander, I had checked on line for this product before I purchased it. The majority of reviews were good although one or two were negative. I have bought Bosch before so thought I would buy anyway and I was really glad I did. The sander is really good and well worth the money. The sheets supplied with the sander do not feel as thick as ones bought separately but they seem to work just as well. I would have no hesitation in recommending this product.
Great product and the collection box is handy too. I’ve given this product 4 stars as although the dust box collects most of the dust, it doesn’t catch everything and when I had finished sanding a wardrobe which took about 10 minutes, I had a light layer of dust over my face and hair. Definitely need a mask and eye protection.
Very happy, nice and light for weak females like me and the dust doesnt go everywhere like my old sander. Its also quieter and just has a very nice feel to it. I can work alot longer using it without my hand and fingers aching. I have given it 4 stars because dust still escapes and the dust compartment is difficult to empty.
This was a very compact and effective item. I bought it to sand my stained fireplace and it made life so much more easy for me. Instead of the long painful task of doing it by hand I had it done in the minimum time possible. It’s very easy to use the one downside is it does not collect all the dust. Plus wear a mask when using!!!
This is the second one of these I have purchased. One was for me and this is for my partner’s son in law. I have used it to strip bannisters, table tops, general sanding and it has not let me down. I purchased the Bosch sanding sheets along with this, as have used some of the cheaper ones and they don’t last long. Good little sander.
Purchased this after I used my dads model (which was the previous model). Very impressed. Light to use and glides along effortlessly. Protective plastic Bosch box keeps the sander safe from damp when storing in a shed.
You do get a pack of sandpipers in the box but I would recommence purchasing more as the do tend to wear down quite quickly. Make sure you get the right corse number for the job you are doing. I normally use 120 for sanding down wooden doors or door frames
Very useful tool. Speeds up work considerably!
Only down sides are that the sanding sheets don’t last as long as I had hoped and are fairly pricy.
I find the little dust container really usefully but a little hard to remove and put back on. But over all I think this is a good product and I’m glad I have it!
after reading the reviews I purchased and was very pleased. I sanded down my window cills and also some old wardrobe doors that had years of old yellow gloss , using the sand paper that came with them and more that I purchased the job was so easy and the finish professional. would recommend
Bought my daughter this for Christmas as she had borrowed mine (same model) again. She must really like them because she’s still got mine as well!
Seriously though they do the job. They are light and easy to use and the vibration is not so bad you can’t use it for more than a few minutes as with some sanders.
It’s not overly fast, you need a round orbital or belt for that but this does get into the small spaces. The sheets are easy to get and just press on the plate.
This is a nice sized sander to fit in the palm and is very effective at doing what it’s intended for. The vibration through the hand is less than I’ve experienced with other sanders too. It is a shame the sole plate is not the same size as most other delta shaped sanders on the market for which there are plenty of aftermarket sanding sheets at a reasonable cost. The sole plate is longer and the extraction holes in different places meaning you have to buy the expensive bosch sheets. If you use a sander infrequently this may be the choice for you but with the cost of sanding sheets from Bosch a regular user may want to look elsewhere. I’ve given it 4 stars based on the quality and performance. I have a Bosch orbital sand which has been much used and abused over a 18 year period and it’s still going strong.
Update: found that Wolfcraft do aftermarket sheets which are cheaper than Bosch but still reasonable quality so makes this a better purchase.
Superb Sander of outstanding quality and design. Its exactly what you would expect from Bosch, a well made brilliantly thought out tool which delivers excellent sanding results on flat surfaces and awkward to reach detailed woodwork. The dust device captures the sanded surface and deposits it in a container attached to the rear of the sander leaving the finished surface clear of debrit. I cannot fault this product, it is excellent. 10/10
Nice design that lets you rotate the “delta” (the triangle part of the pad) which can triple the life of the sheets. I recommend you get the Bosch sheets incidentally, not cheap DIY ones that end up costing more as you have to buy more since they wear out.
Anyway, I have a few issues with this sander;
It’s really low powered; 100w is insufficient for all but the lightest jobs. I’m not saying this product’s bad value for money or anything but be aware of its limitations.
After prolonged use (12hrs+) there is some sort of loose connection meaning the motor randomly cuts out and the wire has to be jiggled to get it going again. I’m nervous to open it up and take a look at the problem. That said its otherwise a sturdy we’ll-built thing
Excellent sander! Good for working above your head such as door frames as it is very light. The dust box also works well, catching quite a lot of it, but you still need a mask though. Only slight downside is that I find the dust box hard to empty because the lid is awkward to remove. I don’t want to force it as dust will go everywhere, but the black lid will not come off the clear box, so you have to try to empty it through a narrow opening instead. Otherwise it is marvellous!
So far we have used this on a climbing frame we are restoring. This has complemented my orbital sander in the corners and tight bits. It works very well -comfortable to hold and easy to control.
The box at the back fills rather quickly but that may be down to a very coarse grade of paper used.
There is a slight vibration – more than I’d like, but this is a vibrating machine after all! It left my hand less tingly than other sanders so it does well in that respect.
Pads are easy to replace – I picked up some replacements from Machine mart and they complemented each other nicely in terms of endurance and staying on the pad (Occasional hook and loop failures on other sanders)
Overall, it is well worth the money and will save a lot of time over hand sanding.
The perfect little sander, ideal for wall preparation before decorating, and all sorts of other rubbing down jobs you can’t be bother to waste elbow grease on! I’m going to deliberately spread filler around all over the house, just so I can use this little chap to rub them all to nothing, as just sticking to DIY isn’t enough fun!
Why did I not buy one of these before? For years I’ve managed to do all my sanding manually (and there’s still a place for that) but this is ideal for both intricate work – as the point of the ‘iron’ allows access to places where manually it would be difficult, as well as for larger areas.
It comes with three papers, a smooth, medium and coarse. They do seem to wear down quickly, I’ve not actually sought out replacements yet (I think another review mentions they are quite pricey for what they are), this on-going need and cost of the consumables would be my only negative point.
The sander seems good although I’m not sure why the papers for it come in two halves, seems a bit of a faff to me but assuming it’s so you could have different grades on the front and back. It’s very quiet and feels good to hold. My only criticism is that it’s very difficult to empty the dust collection box out as it didn’t come apart very easily.
Received it next day. Wish I had bought it earlier, so much easier to use and the outcome is so much better than sanding by hand. I use it to sand off old oil based satinwood paint and it only took seconds to get flat smooth finish. The noise is about same level as my hoover. Would definitely recommend.
Excellent bit of kit. Bought to sand birch plywood and using the 120 grit sandpaper it leaves a very smooth finish. Very easy to use, comfy to hold and fairly light weight
Lead could be a bit longer if using around the home but for me using it on my workbench was fine
The dust collector is excellent you just need to rememebr to empty it otherwise if it gets full it no longer extracts dust and the sawdust just comes out of the side vents
Overall a fantastic addition to my workshop
The sander is a good tool, the ability to vary the speed is a useful option. However the dust collection is not as good as the advertising seems to suggest. When used on a vertical surface, the dust can be seen falling away. I remove the filter box and connect mine to vacuum cleaner, this solves the issue.
Like a number of people before me, I started out with a Black & Decker Mouse which after a combination of about an hours use, it, like others, went BANG as the motor burned out. So I replaced it with this Bosch PSM 100 A. To be honest I should have missed out the Mouse and gone straight to the Bosch. This might be 10 dearer but it is ten times the sander. Easy to use and grip, it glided through the job in hand (so to speak), and the little collection box at the back really does filter out the fine dust.
As with all Bosch power tools the PSM 200 AES Multi Sander is robustly constructed and works very well on all surfaces. However one element that is not of a robust construction is the dust box, which comes in two parts. The green cover is designed to ‘click’ into the black filter housing but after assembly the cover keeps ‘popping’ out enabling air and dust to escape through the gap, rather than out of the air filter. To try and solve the problem, I have resorted to holding the two parts of the dust box together with an elastic band!!!
