Works well and good value compared with much more expensive models. The dust collector is rather difficult to remove and replace. It could be better designed. The dust extractor outlet apparently needs an extra fitting in order to fit most domestic cleaners. This should surely be include.
I bought this to sand the handrails of my decking before staining. It did the job beautifully, getting into all the corners. There’s a wide range of replacement pads for it at a reasonable price. I’ve since used it to sand garden furniture and it’s performed brilliantly. Some reviews said that the dust-box was hard to remove – I didn’t have any problems with it (though to be fair I’ve got big hands!)
The price was great and it did a good job. I’m glad I have one in my toolbox now.
I did feel however that it burnt through sanding pads at an alarming rate. I had ten bird boxes to sand and it used up all three pads that came in the box. I say “used up”, but what I mean is that the pads lost their sand quickly and then shredded on the wooden surface. So be advised to buy more than you think you’ll need!
The only other niggle is the volume is quite loud so I’d recommend wearing ear defenders, which I did without issue.
Very easy to use, safe, and affordable. I’d recommend it.
Well pleased comes in box with some spare sanding sheets, easy to attach the sanding sheets to the sander, you need to clean out the dust collector box quite often as it is small. But ideal tool for the DIY user.
This sander is perfect for those that have the odd job that needs sanding. I am not a professional but found it easy to use. The only downside for me having a damaged hand it is not overly light, but that said it is not so heavy that I couldn’t use it. I have sanded down a wooden highchair with it and apart from the very fiddly areas I have used this sander and it has done the job for me.
Used to smooth off some imperfections on a wall and worked fine, dust collection not up to much, have only just got out of the fog of plaster dust, worked well on wooden stool I repaired too. Grip would suit someone with bigger builders hands than my pathetic fine artistic hands, but I managed
I bought this to sand my internal window frames and ledges. The dust collector is next to useless as the dust goes everywhere anyway. Had to do the work my hand. Takes longer but less mess. This fine if working outside and will remove my doors and fireplace to the garden before using this tool again. Replacement sanding sheets are very expensive compared to other sanders.
The item itself is great but is massively let down by the dust box! It’s difficult to remove but most importantly, that box ain’t collecting nowt! Use it but be prepared for a big mess!
I’ve use this product in the past, it’s a lovely machine to use, comfortable, does an amazing job the dust collector is tricky to get off.
That I can live with as it makes light work of jobs. Highly recommend this
I would be lost without my little mouse, brilliant little sander with plenty of power.
Works well but removal of dust cover/filter not easy without using a blade or screwdriver.
Still an impressive tool. Provision of more sanding pads would be nice.
Very handy little sander used it for years don’t fault it.
I bought this to sand down the top of a small dining table, removing coats of polyurethane and taking out blemishes. It worked a treat. Not much dust escaped from the dust collector, which was a pleasant surprise. I bought a mixed pack of papers and used the 40 grit to take off the polyurethane and some lighter grits for a smooth finish. It is hand sized machine and fits comfortably into your palm.
Did a lot of work with it and it works perfectly. Very good value for the price.
Its a good make, its a gift, its for those hard to get at places the person is very happy.
Good powerful sander with plenty of size and shape options for sanding pads. The dust collector catches about 85% of the dust too which I was really surprised about as there is no suction tool used.
The dust filter is really difficult to take apart for cleaning
Really great job of sanding courtyard gates and garden gate as able to get in relatively small difficult areas. It’s quite noisy, vibrates a lot (it’s supposed to!) , annoyingly difficult to open dust filter and tricky on off switch if you are wearing thick gloves. Wear eye protection as bits do fly out and ear defenders if using for long periods and dust mask and hat. Also use quality sanding pads of the appropriate size and grade all pads are not the same. But despite all this I took this small sander to the limit using it for hours on end for two days and it made a really tough job really as easy as it could be! It’s not too heavy and fits the hand well and really stripped through old paint and varnish like a dream.
Firstly very good value. Good for small to large jobs with restrictions. We are doing every wall in an old bungalow we have just moved to and this review is after doing one room. The dust collector is useful but if you are doing very dusty work as we have on plastered walls then the box will need to be emptied often, as much as every 15 to 20 minutes. As others have said the dust collector box is a pain to get off and fit.
We have now done away with the box and fitted a hoover attachment. Although more cumbersome this is much cleaner and less bother.
Overall though it’s a tough little machine. A few more included sanding sheets would of been nice.
I bought this to sand down a window sill I was going to repaint and it did the job well enough but left my room covered in an ever present film of the paint I had sanded off, there is a small collection pot that it’s meant to automatically go into but it’s about as useful as a chocolate teapot. It either fills up too quickly or doesn’t collect any of the dust so that’s my main complaint. I’d also recommend buying something like a 60 pack of Velcro sanding pads for this instead of buying the branded stuff.
This is my first sander and hopefully the last as sanding is a horrible job if you are using it on the walls like I was.
Overall the sander did a good job. The tip was really powerful and reached all the difficult angles. The dust box works well but I don’t think the filter was necessary. It is Bosch and sturdy as expected.
The big cons are:
– It is very heavy
– Its large handle makes it difficult to hold for long.
– Cleaning is a nightmare: the little box that holds the filter is very very difficult to remove. Really difficult. I used all sorts of tools to help me open it and after a few uses, I still struggle. Not sure what Bosch’s idea was here.
I would buy it again just because it was reasonably priced however if I was planning on a lot of diy I would go for something lighter.
Good solid performer for my needs. Well made and handled well. You need to buy extra sand paper if you plan on any jobs.
Easy to use not too easy to clean out the dust collection pa
Not easy to remove the filter box, checked on you tube and they were not helpful
Like this sander as the sanding pads are widely available and simple to fit.
This is a good sander but the dust collection design is really poor, the cage that holds the dust in just rattled off
I dont usually use a cheap sander as the plate always seem to break easily & quickly but so far I’ve used thos Bosch sander to do a lot of work & surprised but its still going strong where as others id bought in the past would have been broken & thrown in the bin by now.
