Can the device measure its own length?
The laser measure has two different reference settings that allow the user to choose whether or not to include the device’s own length in the measurement. The user can switch between these modes with one click.
Does the device measure in inches and feet or centimeters and meters?
The measured values are displayed in meters.
How does the continuous mode work?
In continuous mode, the device can be moved relative to the target and the measured distance will be updated every half second. The current measured value as well as the smallest and largest measured value are shown on the display.
What are the integrated measuring functions for?
The measurement functions are ideal for adding / subtracting values or calculating areas and volumes to determine the required amount of wallpaper or paint.

Works well but maybe not as well as you would like
The good:
It works well and the on board instructions are clear. It does seem to manage 2mm accuracy. It’s straightforward to use. The bluetooth link is great with the appropriate software, makes doing floor plans easy. The button is good, not too stiff, not to light to press either.
The not so good:
The touch screen. If using it one handed then it is quite easy to hit the menu key so you are away from the main screen. It happens more often than I would like
It doesn’t work with the Bosch MeasuringMaster app, you need the GLM version for that
It does work the the PLR Measure&Go app but that doesn’t let you do floor plans and on Android the photos seem to misalign with where you leave the arrows (July ’19).
In fact to do floor plans you need to buy a different app but magicplan.app/en works well and isn’t too pricey if you buy a plan at a time which lets you do several rooms at once
Although it should manage 50m if you are outdoors you will struggle to see the dot more than 20m away and as there is no tripod mount it will be difficult to hold it steady. I’m unlikely to ever use it for 50m but if you are buying it for that then this probably isn’t what you need
Overall I really like it but wish I had bought the pro version instead. You only buy these things once

Das PLR 50 C ist ein sehr kompaktes Laserentfernungsmessgert. Wichtig ist auf das C” zu achten.
Ich hab es gekauft wegen dem zustzlichen Winkelmesser und der Bluetooth Funktion. Somit hat man die Mglichkeit Digitale Plne zu erstellen z.B. in Verbindung mit Handy und der App Magicplan.
Die Bedienung ist einfach und intuitiv.
Die mitgelieferte App PLRmeasure&go finde ich dagegen recht kompliziert und umstndlich.
Was etwas nervig ist der Bluetooth Button direkt auf dem Display. Damit kann man das Bluetooth zwar ohne viel Sucherei in irgendwelchen versteckten Mens ein und aus schalten. Das kann aber auch passieren wenn man eine Messung auslst.
Die Bedienung erfolgt halt hier komplett ber ein Touchdisplay. Wer also viel mit Handschuhen unterwegs ist oder Mrtel oder Feuchtigkeit an Fingern hat sollte zum blauen Profimodel greifen.
Intern gibt es verschiedene Mglichkeiten ber Winkel und Strecken die Fehlende Seite eines Dreiecks zu berechnen ohne sich mit Sinus oder Pytagoras auseinander setzen zu mssen. Flchen und Volumenberechnug gibt es auch. Zustzlich knnen Strecken, Flchen oder Volumen voneinander addiert oder subtrahiert werden.
Ich bin voll zufrieden und kann es bedenkenlos weiterempfehlen.

Al principio sorprende el tamao pequeo y el poco peso, pero funciona realmente bien, es fcil manejarlo y desempea a la perfeccin su labor: medir con precisin, mide realmente bien.
En pocos pasos aprendes a manejarlo.
Hace medidas longitudinales, calcula superficies metros cuadrados (ancho x alto) y halla volmenes metros cbicos (ancho x alto x profundidad). Tambin es capaz de sumar y restar medidas (muy til para cuando hay un obstculo y no puedes medir de una vez) y mide desde la base o desde la parte delantera.
Muy til el Bluetooth y la app que descargas al mvil (Android o Apple) donde puedes hacer fotos y ver las medidas tomadas.
Sin duda es una buena compra, que recomiendo, aunque sea ms cara que otros productos de marca “gris” pero que sabes con ste, que lo que mides no tiene error, y que funciona perfectamente. Fiabilidad.
Yo lo compr aqu en una buena oferta 61,90 y en la web oficial piden 114, y con la garanta de Amazon como vendedor.

Habe mich nach langer Zeit entschieden mal auf den elektronischen “Zollstock” zu wechseln. bin sehr zufrieden.
– Das Gert zeigt die letzten drei Messergebnisse an, man muss nicht sofort mitschreiben.
– Sehr gut ist auch, dass man den Referenzpunkt verstellen kann: Entweder die “Null” an die untere oder an die obere Kante des Gerts legen.
– Sehr praktisch ist, das beim ersten drcken des Knopfes zunchst nur der Laser leuchtet, dann kann man den Laserpunkt genau justieren und beim zweiten Drcken wird erst gemessen.

Gute Haptik und Optik, Verarbeitung einwandfrei. Einfache und logische Bedienung des Gerts ber Knpfe mit Symbolen. Ein roter Laserpunkt markiert die Zielstelle, man sieht wo man hin misst. Die letzten drei Messergebnisse werden am Display mit Einheit Meter auf drei Kommastellen angezeigt. Zustzliche Funktionen erlauben Additionen, Subtraktionen, einfache Flchen- und Volums Berechnungen direkt am Gert. Die Verbindung mit einem Android Pad ber Bluetooth und der Bosch Software aus dem Google Playstore war einfach und wie beschrieben. Es knnen selber Plne erstellt oder Fotos genutzt werden und dort direkt die Messwerte nacheinander in der Zeichnung eingetragen werden. Plne lassen sich dann als PDF oder JPG exportieren. Es gibt keinen Durchhang wie bei einem Maband und es kann ein Einzelner lngere przise Messungen 3-30m durchfhren. Die Genauigkeit war im mm Bereich bei Testmessungen bekannter Lngen von 1-8m. Das PLR 30C wird betriebsfertig mit Handbuch, Batterien und kleiner Grteltasche aus Gewebe geliefert. Innerhalb von 5 Minuten nach dem Auspacken die ersten Messungen, nach 30 Minuten auch Plne in der Software erstellt. Wie lange die Batterien halten kann ich noch nicht bewerten.
Das PLR 30C hat alle meine Erwartungen hinsichtlich Verarbeitung, Leistungsfhigkeit und Preis erfllt. Damit aus meiner Sicht verdiente fnf Sterne.

Par contre je trouve qu’il consomme un peu trop vite les piles surtout en bluetooth.
Sachant que quand on prend des mesures , on rflchit souvent un peu en laissant l’appareil allum.
A utiliser de prfrence avec de bonnes piles rechargeables avec un jeu prt disponible.
L’utilisation en extrieur au est trs limite pour des distances dpassant la dizaine de m l’ombre , voir impossible au soleil pour des distances de quelques m .
Une “astuce” consiste attendre la baisse de la luminosit comme le soir par exemple.

Also ich finde das Gert prima…Funktioniert alles Top auch die App finde ich sehr Angenehm und einfach,gut die App fordert etwas mehr Geduld als mit Papier und Bleistift aber gut ist das man zb auch die Mae automatisch in den Bilder bernommen werden bei richtiger Bedienung! Auch das gert ist gut und einfach zu bedienen,gibt es Probleme bei verschiedenen Einstellungen zur messung gibts einen Hilfebutton mit einem Fragezeichen drauf,wird der gedrckt und das gewnschte Feld ausgewhlt wird in Bildern ein “Video” abgespielt wie man bei der Messung vorgehen muss!
Zur genauigkeit kann ich nur sagen das das Gert sehr genau misst vorallem einfach gegenber Nachrutschen eines Zollstocks wo Messfehler entstehen knnen…Auch die im Lieferumdang enthaltenen Batterien halten sehr lange…hatte das Gert ca 1.5h im Dauerbetrieb aber nicht immer mit Bluetooth(was allgemein viel Strom verbraucht) und die Batterien sind immernoch voll bis Anschlag.Auch die eingebaute Wage und Winkelmesser oder Neigungsmesser sind ein tolles feature was vieles erleichtert.
Sehr zu empfehlen!
MEIN ANWENDUNGSPROFIL / WAS ICH VON DEM GERT ERWARTE
Da bei mir die Komplettrenovierung und Neumblierung einer Wohnung ansteht, wollte ich mir die anstehende Arbeit etwas erleichtern, indem ich das Ganze vorab mittels eines 3D-Raumplaners am PC entwerfe und auch die Bedarfe fr z.B. Wandfarbe, Bodenbelag, Fuleisten usw. ermitteln kann, um spter keine unntigen Fahrten zum Baumarkt zu haben, weil ich irgendwas vergessen oder einen Eimer Farbe zu wenig gekauft habe.
Sucht man bei Amazon nach entsprechenden Laser-Entfernungsmessern, stolpert man zwangslufig ber den Bosch DIY Zano, der quasi das abgespeckte Einsteigermodell in diesem Bereich ist. Fr meine Zwecke htte er vermutlich auch gereicht, allerdings reizte mich – neben dem greren Funktionsumfang und der hheren Reichweite – vorallem die Bluetooth-Funktionalitt des PLR30C, die es einem in Verbindung mit einer entsprechenden App ermglicht, detaillierte Raumplne zu erstellen. Der PLR50C bietet zwar nochmals 20 Meter mehr Reichweite sowie eine Neigungswinkel-/Wasserwaagen-Funktion, allerdings war mir dies den Aufpreis von etwa 30 Euro nicht wert und fr das Geld htte ich vermutlich ohnehin zum blauen GLM50C von Bosch gegriffen.
LIEFERUMFANG
Der PLR30C wird in einem klassischen, grnen Verkaufskarton geliefert, wie man es von grnem Bosch-Werkzeug kennt. Neben dem Messgert selbst befinden sich noch eine Schutz-/Grteltasche, zwei AAA-Batterien sowie eine mehrsprachige Bedienungsanleitung in der Verpackung. Am Gert selbst ist zwar eine se fr eine Handschlaufe, allerdings gehrt diese aus unerfindlichen Grnden nicht zum Lieferumfang – beim PLR50C ist sie hingegen dabei.
VERARBEITUNG
Das Gert misst ca. 100x42x21mm, wiegt samt der Batterien ca. 84 Gramm und besteht aus robustem ABS-Kunststoff, sollte also einiges aushalten und nicht schon beim ersten Sturz auf den Boden in seine Einzelteile zerfallen. Zustzlich ist das Gehuse am Rand mit einer rutschhemmenden Gummierung umspritzt, die einerseits fr besseren Grip in der Hand und andererseits fr besseren Halt an glatten Oberflchen sorgt. Leider ist diese Gummierung aber nicht an der Unterseite des Gertes vorhanden, sodass es an Schrgen festgehalten muss, da es sonst abrutscht. Verarbeitungsmngel (Grate, unsaubere Ausspritzung, ) konnte ich bei meinem Exemplar nicht feststellen, allerdings erwarte ich bei der Marke und dem Preis auch einwandfrei Verarbeitungsqualitt.
Das Farbdisplay ist ausreichend hell und auch bei Tageslicht einwandfrei ablesbar – nicht zuletzt durch die relativ groen, weien Zahlen. Warum in der Produktbeschreibung aber von “Touchscreen” die Rede ist, ist mir nicht ganz klar, denn ein Touchscreen ist es definitiv nicht. Eventuell bezieht sich dies auf die Verwendung in Kombination mit einem Smartphone/Tablet?
Unterhalb des Displays finden sich die sieben Funktionstasten, die sich auch mit Handschuhen noch relativ problemlos bedienen lassen. Nicht so gut gefllt mir allerdings die Haptik der Tasten. Sie sind sehr flach und haben einen relativ matschigen und spten Druckpunkt. Liegt das Gert mit der Unterseite an einer Wand an und will man eine Messung durchfhren, neigt das Gert dazu, zu kippeln, sobald man auf die Messtaste drckt. Bei Unachtsamkeit kann dies u.U. zu Fehlmessungen fhren. Um dies zu vermeiden, sollte man das Gert – wenn mglich – mit der anderen Hand stabilisieren.
Die Schutz- bzw. Grteltasche besteht aus robust wirkendem Nylon und ist innen zustzlich mit einem weicheren Material ausgepolstert. Rckseitig an der Tasche befindet sich eine Grtelschlaufe, die sich mittels Klett ffnen lsst, sodass man sie ganz leicht in einen Grtel einhngen kann und nicht mhsam auf ihn auffdeln muss. Auf greren Baustellen, wo so ein kleines Gert schnell mal verschwinden kann, ist die Mglichkeit der Aufbewahrung am Grtel auf jeden Fall sehr praktisch.
INBETRIEBNAHME
Nach dem Einsetzen der beiden AAA-Batterien ist das Gert sofort einsatzbereit und kann verwendet werden. Eine Konfiguration, Kalibrierung oder anderer, zeitraubender Schmu ist nicht notwendig. Mittels der obersten, roten Taste wird das Gert eingeschaltet und braucht ca. 2 Sekunden zum “Hochfahren”. Daraufhin ist es mit den Standardeinstellungen (Messpunkt: Gerteunterseite, Messart: einfache Entfernungsmessung) startklar. Durch lngeres Halten der unteren, roten Taste wird das Gert runtergefahren, was ebenfalls ca. 2 Sekunden dauert.
MESSMODI
Bei allen 4 Messmodi werden die gemessenen Werte in Metern samt 3 Nachkommastellen angezeigt. Ein Umstellen auf eine andere Einheit (Zentimeter, Zoll, ) ist leider nicht mglich. Mittels der “+”- und “-“-Tasten lassen sich die ermittelten Werte mit den Ergebnissen weiterer Messungen des selben Messmodus addieren oder subtrahieren. ber die “C”/Aus-Taste lassen sich die gemessenen Werte auch wieder lschen bzw. zurcksetzen, falls man sich vermessen hat.
—– Gewhnliche Einzelmessung —–
Hierbei wird eine einzelne Messung vom Gert zum Objekt durchgefhrt und angezeigt. Oberhalb des neuesten Messwertes werden die Werte fr die letzten 3 Messungen angezeigt, die man bspw. dazu nutzen kann, um (manuell) einen Mittelwert zu errechnen. Dies knnte u.A. hilfreich bei Altbauten mit leicht schiefen Wnden/Decken sein.
—– Flchenberechnung —–
Diese besteht aus 2 Messungen, wodurch sich die Flche einer Wand, eines Bodens oder dergleichen in m (Quadratmetern) berechnen lsst. Diese Funktion ist hervorragend dazu geeignet, um bspw. zu ermitteln, wieviel Teppich/Laminat/Fliesen man fr einen Boden oder wieviel Farbe man zum Streichen einer Wand bentigt. Hier muss man allerdings auch die Deckkraft der Farbe und den Verschnitt bei Bodenbelgen mit einkalkulieren.
—– Volumenberechnung —-
Bei dieser Messung wird anhand dreier Werte das Volumen eines Raumes oder Objektes in m (Kubikmetern) ermittelt. Bei Rumen ist dies z.B. ntzlich, falls man den Kauf einer Klimaanlage oder eines Luftreinigers plant und wissen mchte, ob das Gert einen ausreichenden “Durchsatz” hat. Im Bezug auf Mbelstcke ist die Volumenberechnung insofern hilfreich, als dass z.B. Umzugs- oder Mbeleinlagerungsunternehmen die Preise hufig anhand des Volumens der Mbel berechnen.
—– Kontinuierliche Messung —–
Hier wird die gemessene Entfernung in Echtzeit aktualisiert und angezeigt. Oberhalb davon finden sich dann noch die Werte fr die minimal und maximal gemessene Entfernung. Eine praktische Einsatzmglichkeit wre z.B. das mittge Ausrichten eines Mbelstckes oder eines Bildes entlang/an einer Wand. Man kann die Funktion auch dazu nutzen, um z.B. Lngen auf Werkstcken zu markieren, allerdings sollte man fr sehr exakte Arbeiten dann doch lieber einen klassischen Zollstock oder ein Maband verwenden.
BLUETOOTH & APPS
Die Bluetooth-Funktionalitt wird mittels Druck auf die entsprechende Taste am PLR30C aktiviert. Zur visuellen Besttigung erscheint auf dem Display in der linken, oberen Ecke auch das Bluetooth-Logo. Ist BT auf dem “Empfangsgert” (Smartphone, Tablet, ) aktiviert, erfolgt die Kopplung genauso einfach, wie mit jedem anderen Bluetooth-Gert auch. Zu bedenken ist, dass man die BT-Funktion nur einschalten sollte, wenn man sie auch tatschlich bentigt, da sie ansonsten unntig Strom verbraucht.
Da man mit der Kopplung alleine natrlich nichts anfangen kann, bentigt man eine App, die die Daten des PLR verarbeiten kann. Die Bosch-eigene Lsung hierfr nennt sich “PLR measure&go”, ist sowohl fr Android als auch fr iOS verfgbar und kann in den entsprechenden App-Stores kostenlos heruntergeladen werden. Die Installation und Verbindung mit dem PLR30C funktionierte bei mir sowohl auf dem Smartphone als auch auf dem Tablet ohne nennenswerte Probleme.
Hinsichtlich des Funktionsumfangs der App wird recht schnell klar, dass sie sich definitiv an Laien-Heimwerker richtet und entsprechend einfach aufgebaut und ausgestattet ist. Einen neuen Plan kann man wahlweise mit Millimeterpapier, einem gespeicherten Foto oder einem geschossenen Foto der Gerte-Kamera hinterlegen und darauf dann Linien, Ksten (Rechtecke, Vierecke) sowie “Fake”-Winkel einzeichnen, die dann mit dem PLR30C eingemessen werden knnen. Nach Fertigstellung kann der Plan dann als PDF exportiert, gedruckt, hochgeladen oder weitergeschickt werden, was sehr praktisch ist, falls man die Daten einem Schreiner, Maler oder dergleichen zukommen lassen mchte.
Bei Einzeichnung und Messung von Einzellinien auf Millimeterpapier fllt direkt auf, dass die Linien in keinerlei Grenverhltnis zueinander stehen. Zwei gleich lange Linien knnen also z.B. 2 und 20 Meter lang sein. Zu meinem Leidwesen gibt es bei der App auch keine Mglichkeit, eine Freihand-Skizze eines Raumes zu erstellen und diese dann zu bemaen, sodass man sich bei exotischen Raumaufteilungen damit behelfen muss, mit den Linien und Vierecken die Form “nachzubasteln”. Etwas einfacher ist es da, sich den Raum auf einem Blatt Papier grob zu skizzieren, abzufotografieren, in die App zu importieren und dann mittels der Einzellinien zu bemaen. So richtig optimal ist beides aber nicht und generell scheint die App den Fokus ohnehin auf die Bemaung von geschossenen bzw. hinterlegten Fotos zu legen.
Die Bosch-Apps “Measuring Master” oder “GLM floor plan” scheinen genau die Funktionen zu haben, die ich mir von der “PLR measure&go”-App gewnscht htte, allerdings sind diese Apps nicht mit den grnen PLR-Gerten kompatibel, sondern funktionieren nur mit den blauen GLM50C- bzw. GLM100C-Entfernungsmessern. Meiner Ansicht nach ist das reine Schikane, denn aus technischer Sicht sehe ich keinen Grund, warum die grnen Gerte nicht mit den blauen Apps funktionieren sollten. Anstatt die Krfte zu bndeln und eine einzige, richtig gute App fr beide Produktserien zu entwickeln, werden hier fr beide Serien spezifische, halbgare Apps angeboten, um dem Kunden den Unterschied zwischen Grn und Blau unter die Nase zu reiben. Da das letzte, kleine Update der Android-Version der “PLR measure&go”-App zum Zeitpunkt dieser Rezension gute 6 Monate zurckliegt, habe ich auch keine groe Hoffnung, dass die App noch weiter ausgebaut und um zustzliche und ntzliche Funktionen erweitert wird. Sehr schade.
Da die “PLR measure&go”-App fr meinen Geschmack funktionstechnisch einfach zu mager ist, habe ich mich im Play-Store nach Alternativen umgesehen und bin auf die App “Floor Plan Creator” gestoen. Diese untersttzt eine Vielzahl von Laser-Entfernungsmessern (u.A. die PLR- *und* GLM-Modelle von Bosch), hat einen wesentlich hheren Funktionsumfang, bietet einen simplen Raumplaner zur Einrichtung des Raumes mit Mbeln und sogar eine 3D-Ansicht des fertigen Raumes. Die App ist kostenlos und kann via InApp-Kufen werbefrei gemacht und um zustzliche Optionen wie Druck, PDF-, SVG- und DXF-Export erweitert werden. Fr den reinen Privatgebrauch ist meiner Ansicht nach nichts davon zwingend notwendig, allerdings ist die Werbefrei-Option (0,99) recht ntzlich, weil man dann etwas mehr Arbeitsflche auf dem Display hat.

FAZIT
Der durchaus ordentliche, erste Eindruck wurde fast durch die (fr mich persnlich) weitestgehend unbrauchbare Bosch-App zunichte gemacht, denn was soll ich mit einem vergleichsweise teuren, Bluetooth-fhigen Entfernungsmesser, wenn dieses Feature in seiner Funktion durch die dazugehrige, rudimentre App so stark und knstlich limitiert wird? Wre ich nicht ber die o.g. Drittanbieter-App gestolpert, htte ich das Gert vermutlich zurckgeschickt und mir ein gnstigeres Modell ohne Bluetooth bestellt.
Davon abgesehen ist der PLR30C aber ein solides, handliches, schnelles und sehr einfach zu bedienendes Gert, das sich bei Renovierungen oder anderen Heimwerkerprojekten als groe Hilfe erweist und das exakte Vermessen einer Entfernung oder Flche zu einem absoluten Kinderspiel macht. Selbst, wenn man keinen Wert auf die Bluetooth-Funktionalitt legt, macht man mit dem Gert meiner Ansicht nach nicht wirklich viel falsch, wobei es aber funktionstechnisch vergleichbar oder sogar besser ausgestattete Gerte von anderen Herstellern schon fr weniger Geld gibt und jeder fr sich selbst abwgen muss, was einem wichtiger ist: ein Markenprodukt oder ein gnstiger Preis.

Also has a very useful continuous measurement feature and level feature, useful for checking things are super level/straight or for measuring walls that are at an angle when producing drawings. Useful for measuring high ceilings and inaccessible places.

I bought this to replace my old laser which was one of the cheap and cheerful ones. I work in television so needed a easily portable laser to measure locations quickly. It is very small which means you can pop it on your belt and take it anywhere with you. You don’t need to hold it super steady for it to take a measurement, which is great and it also works on uneaven surfaces like cave walls! Very impressed! Definitely worth spending a bit more for something so good!

On the one hand, this is fantastic, but on the other it has some really annoying limitations.
The obvious one being units; it only has metric, when it would have only taken a tiny bit of software to allow imperial. I’m happy with metric, but customers (such as house buyers) like imperial.
A big plus is the bluetooth connection, which allows automatic transfer to a tablet. Brilliant! But not so good when holding both the tablet and this, because it’s way too easy to touch the bluetooth icon and disconnect (really, REALLY, frustrating!!!).

Praktisches Ding und kleiner, als ich dachte
Der Entfernungsmesser ist leicht zu bedienen und tatschlich so klein, dass er in die Hosentasche passt. Das Ausmessen meiner Wohnung ging damit um einiges schneller (und wohl auch genauer) als mit einem Zollstock. Auch die Funktionen der Flchenmessung (um die Quadratmeter zu bestimmen) und der Volumenmessung (um das Volumen meiner Mbel fr einen Umzug zu berechnen) sind sehr praktisch.
Einen Stern Abzug gibt es fr die dazugehrige App, die man hier zwar nicht kauft, aber die mit-beworben wird. An der strt mich, dass man bei Flchenmaen (eines Zimmers) spter nicht die einzelnen Lngen sehen kann. Da ist man mit Zettel und Stift dann doch besser bedient.
Der Lasermesser ist berraschend klein und leicht, was sehr gut ist. Ich werde ihn als Inhaber eines Planungsbros sehr hufig benutzen. Da ist es gut wenn man keine unntiges Gewicht auf die Baustelle mitschleppen muss.
Was ich fr verbesserungswrdig halte ist:
* Einerseits die Position der roten Messtaste.
Da man den Messer in vielen erdenklichen Positionen halten muss, muss man seine Finger manchmal ganz schn verenken um den Auslserknopf drcken zu knnen.
* Andererseits sollte man den Touchscreen sperren knnen.
Da kommt man bei der Arbeit stndig dagegen und verstellt wieder irgendetwas. Das hlt unntig auf.
Daher ziehe ich insgesamt einen Stern ab.
Sehr positiv und aufgrund meiner Kaufentscheidung ist die Bluetooth-Funktion des Messers. Gemeinsam mit der Android App ImageMeter funktioniert sie super.
Wenn ich spter die Messergebnisse in mein CAD Programm bernehme, ist diese Art von Aufma viel praktischer als mit klassischen unhandlichen Plnen, wo man hinterher wieder nicht lesen kann, was man selber geschrieben hat oder Mae schlicht vergessen hat.

Der Messer kann schon einiges, das Menu ist einfach und leicht zu verstehen.
Vorallem fr das schnelle Messen von Wand zu Wand, oder auch den Fensterrahmen messen ist das echt super.
Man kann natrlich keine strecke damit messen, bzw keine Lngen von Gegenstnden wie Brettern, aber dafr sind die Teile ja auch nicht gemacht.
Die Verarbeitung stimmt auch, sehr stabil und robust. Natrlich sollte man es aber nicht durch die Gegend werfen. 😉
Die dazugehrige App ist meiner Meinung nach nicht ganz so gut gelungen und nicht einfach zu bedienen, da lsst sich noch eniges verbessern um schneller einen Raum auf dem Tablet darstellen zu knnen und als PDF speichern zu knnen.
Leider werden nur normale Batterien mitgeliefert, diese halten bei mir aber bisher gut beim Ausprobieren. Laden kann man das Gert aber eben nicht.
Ich gebe aus diesem Grund auch nur 4 Sterne. Auch der Preis ist doch sehr hoch. Ich habe den Messer im Sale fr 90 gekauft, was schon billiger ist aber immer noch ein stolzer Preis dafr (finde ich).

Using the area calculation of the device and its’ summing feature, it took me something like 30 seconds for the whole apartment. Final thought: Bosch is Bosch, one of my mostly preferred trademarks for any tools.

Ich habe mir erst ein billiges Produkt einer anderen Firma gekauft – wer billig kauft, kauft zweimal – und wieder zurck geschickt. Das Gert von Bosch ist zwar um ein vielfaches teurer, aber jeden Euro wert. Es misst auf den Millimeter genau und kann mit dem Smartphone verbunden werden. Man fotografiert den Raum mit dem Handy und die Messungen werden dann ber eine App von Bosch auf dem Bild angezeigt >> super !!
Ich bin vollkommen mit diesem Gert zufrieden und wrde es mir jederzeit wieder kaufen.

This is so easy to use straight away and the weight is just heavy enough so that it feels like you have spent money well spent in the sense that its not a dodgy piece of plastic. If you want to use the function where you place it on the floor and adjust the angle while pointing at the roof to find the hieght of your eaves then best read the instructions though.
I have used this in strong sunlight and understandibly it doesnt work so well but out of direct sunlight it works perfect and i have double checked the measurments with a standard measure but beware you will find it so hard not to measure absolutley everything.

I’ve been measuring rental flats, which don’t usually get a floorplan, and the estate agents have all been very interested in getting one for themselves, especially at the price this one is at. Useful that it goes to 50 metres range when needed, and I’ve even used it as a laser pointer in a pinch!

Tired of tape measures? This little box is for you. You’re able to use it to measure distances precisely with the laser, over quite a distance if needed. It has a memory so you can make successive measurements without difficulty and recall them later, and it allows you to choose whether or not to include its own size in the measurement. Note that you do need something at the other end to reflect off, but this can be any solid material even a bit of wood.
I have found the ‘Bosch PLR 50 C’ Digital Laser Measure to be a very useful measuring device. It has been a real time-saver in assisting me obtain specific measurements (length/width/height/surface/volume) in preparation for various home renovation projects. The touch-screen interface is user-friendly…and for any novice users it even includes a handy ‘Help’ function that provides you with a simple step-by-step graphic tutorial you can follow on the screen that instructs you in the correct use of the device for each measuring mode. Measurements can be saved, dimensions can be added or subtracted and basic data can even be transferred wirelessly via Bluetooth to your smartphone and/or tablet using Bosch’s free PLR Measure & Go app. There is also a convenient spirit level function that comes with the device. Overall, I have appreciated the time and energy that the ‘Bosch PLR 50 C’ Digital Laser Measure has saved me in comparison to using a traditional or conventional tape-measure.
Es stehen einige Umbauarbeiten bei mir zu Hause an und ich war es ehrlich gesagt leid, alles per Maband oder Zollstock aus zu messen. Da hab ich mich von den positiven Bewertungen verleiten lassen und kurzerhand den PLR40C von Bosch hier bei Amazon bestellt. Der PLR40C ist vom Prinzip das gleiche Gert wie der PLR30C, nur das dieser 40m weit messen kann, anstatt nur 30m.
Eines vorweg, der Entfernungsmesser ist echt genial. Es vereinfacht das ausmessen immens, so das es trotz mehrere Rume zum ausmessen wirklich Spa gemacht hat und schnell von der Hand ging.
Die Bedienung ist wirklich einfach. Einschalten, Modus auswhlen und drauf los messen. Fr eine Messung wird zunchst der rote Knopf mit dem Pfeil einmal gedrckt, nun ist der Laser aktiv und man kann die auszumessende Wand etc. anvisieren. Durch den zweiten Druck der selben Taste wird die Messung ausgefhrt. Ich habe mal aus Interesse mehrfach ein und die selbe Strecke hintereinander ausgemessen, es gab keine Abweichung vom Messwert. So muss das sein!
Es gibt 4 Modi:
– Lngenmessung
– Flchenmessung
– Volumenmessung
– Dauermessung
Alle Modi werden mit nur einem Knopf durchgeschaltet. Zudem kann man einstellen, ob von der Hinterkante des Gertes oder ab der Vorderkante gemessen werden soll. Alles wird schn bersichtlich im Display angezeigt. Zudem kann man die Messungen per Knopfdruck addieren oder subtrahieren.
Dann gibt es noch die Bluetooth Funktion, wenn diese aktiviert wird und man sich die dazugehrige App auf sein Smartphone oder Tablet ldt, knnen die Messungen direkt in der App gespeichert werden. Hier gibt es zwei Mglichkeiten, zum einen kann man mit der App ein Foto vom auszumessenden Objekt machen (z.B. eine Fenster). Dann zeichnet man per Hand Linien ein, fr die Lngen die man ausmessen mchte. Klickt man eine der Linien an und macht die Messung mit dem PLR, so wird der gemessene Wert automatisch in der App bernommen. Die andere Mglichkeit ist, sich Millimeterpapier anzeigen zu lassen und per Hand z.B. einen Raum nach zeichnet. Auch hier wieder die gewnschte Wand bzw. Linie auswhlen und mit dem PLR ausmessen. Auch hier wird der Wert automatisch in der App bernommen und neben der Linie angezeigt. Dazu kann man Projekte erstellen, in der man mehrere Messungen bzw. Rume speichern kann. Ich persnlich besitze als Smartphone das Samsung Note 4, dieses wiederum hat einen integrierten Stylus (Stift), mit dem die Zeichnungen noch einfacher von der Hand gehen. So sind in Handumdrehen mehrere Rume schnell vermessen und es macht einfach Spa. Eine Abweichung von +- 3 mm ist mehr als ausreichend fr mich.
Ich kann den PLR40C jedem wrmstens an Herz legen, besonders wenn grere Aktionen wie z.B. ein Umbau oder Renovierungen anstehen. Die Flchenvermessung funktioniert auch wunderbar und wird des fteren von mir genutzt.
Einzig die App ist noch etwas verbesserungswrdig, so kann man z.B. nicht zoomen beim zeichnen auf dem Millimeterpapier. Dennoch erleichtert die App einem das Leben und ich habe meine Messwerte berall mit dabei.

Very comprehensive features, yet very simple to use. Laser spot on.
I’ve only had the device a few days, but first impressions are very good. The touchscreen is responsive and the on-screen icons are clear and simple to understand. The way the icons flash to tell you which measurement the device is expecting next is great. I can’t vouch for the accuracy of it as I haven’t compared it to anything else. I sort of expect it to be as accurate as Bosch say it is, given their reputation and the testing I’d expect them to have done.
The bluetooth setup and connection is as simple as can be and I’ve only had one problem where I had to restart the app on the iPad to get it to recognise and connect to the measure. The app is great too. It’s not a CAD package, but it never tries to be. Take photos and mark them up with dimensions and notes or draw simple rectangular outlines to add the same. Select the dimension you want to measure and then measure. As soon as you press the measure button on the device, the measurement is placed on the dimension line.
Two very, very minor gripes: one, the display shows zero on the first press of the button whilst you’re pointing the laser, then you press again and it displays the value its measured. That maybe just that I haven’t discovered a setting to change it though. Second, the hand loop (which I would recommend always using, as I think it would be easy to drop when trying to use one-handed) is a pain to fit to the measure. The two tiny slots are hard to thread the loop through. It would have been better to have been fitted at the factory.
I got it in a Lightning Deal, so I am well pleased with it. I’d recommend it to anyone at the price I got it, but would think it a bit expensive at full price. Then again, it’s from a reputable brand, which I always prefer to the lesser-known, cheaper brands.
Fantastic bit of kit. Tried allsorts of kit over the years with very poor results. However using a laser instead of sound has improved the accuracy and usability ten fold. The app is handy and works well for lots of measurements. The price reflects the build quality and compact size. What’s impressive is how close you can measure up to a obstacle or between a gap. So long as the beam of light is not disturbed you can take a measurement. It really will measure up to 40m and more accurately than using a tape!! To test how good it was we put the PLR on a stable surface and shot the laser at the wall at the end of a corridor 20m away. We took a reading and then placed a 2mm thick piece of wood on the wall and the readings we got changed by 2mm every time placed it in the way. We then had 5 site lads measure the same distance with a tape. With different outcomes varying from 30mm to 10mm. Also as a comparison one of the surveyor’s turned up with a piece of Pro laser kit costing 2500 both got the same results, however the pro kit can measure up to half a kilometre away!! So the price seems pretty good in comparison.
Magic
This is as close to magic as a laser measure is going to get. Do you wonder how high your tree is (16M it turns out) or how wide a river is? This will tell you.
It can be tricky to point the laser spot over long distances especially in day light – I have painted two aiming marks on one side which helps me get the beam in the right place when trying to hit a particular tree branch etc.

Da wir gerade ein Haus bauen habe ich mich mit smtlichen Equipment von Bosch eingedeckt und muss sagen, dass der Laser-Entfernungsmesser ein absolut empfehlenswertes Gert ist. Sehr przise, einfach in der Handhabung und mit vielen Funktionen ausgestattet, fr die man frher immer noch Stift, Papier und einen Taschenrechner zcken musste. Das einzige, was etwas zu bemngeln ist, ist die Akkulaufleistung – die zwei Batterien halten bei Dauereinsatz keinen ganzen Tag durch…aber wer eine Packung Ersatzbatterien dabei hat, wird viel Freude mit dem Gert haben.
Die Bluetooth-Funktion zur Kopplung mit der Bosch Vermessungssoftware auf dem iPad habe ich auch ausprobiert, allerdings fand ich dieses Gimmick nicht besonders intuitiv.
In jedem Fall: Daumen hoch und eine klare Kaufempfehlung !

Da wir gerade ein Haus bauen habe ich mich mit smtlichen Equipment von Bosch eingedeckt und muss sagen, dass der Laser-Entfernungsmesser ein absolut empfehlenswertes Gert ist. Sehr przise, einfach in der Handhabung und mit vielen Funktionen ausgestattet, fr die man frher immer noch Stift, Papier und einen Taschenrechner zcken musste. Das einzige, was etwas zu bemngeln ist, ist die Akkulaufleistung – die zwei Batterien halten bei Dauereinsatz keinen ganzen Tag durch…aber wer eine Packung Ersatzbatterien dabei hat, wird viel Freude mit dem Gert haben.
Die Bluetooth-Funktion zur Kopplung mit der Bosch Vermessungssoftware auf dem iPad habe ich auch ausprobiert, allerdings fand ich dieses Gimmick nicht besonders intuitiv.
In jedem Fall: Daumen hoch und eine klare Kaufempfehlung !

die Wiederholbarkeit von Messungen ist excelent,
die Absolute Genauigkeit der Lngenmessung kann ich nicht beurteilen, wer kann schon bei bis zu 50m auf < 1mm genau messen, selbst bei nur 2m wre als Vergleichsnormal mehr wie ein Zollstock ntig; das Touchscreen funktioniert einwandfrei, vieleicht einen kleinen Hauch zu empfindlich; die vielen Funktionen besonders die indirekten Messungen machen tatschlich Sinn was gefllt weniger gut, ist aber im grnen Bereich Die Gerte-Auflagefche bei der Neigungsmessung berzeugt nicht 100%ig, Gert macht einen etwas kippeligen Eindruck Die Wasserwaage ist gegen eine "Libelle" verglichen nicht 100% genau, aber innerhalb der Spezifikation. Der Laserpunkt ist bei Sonnenlicht und mehr als 20m schwer zu erkennen (wenn man eine sehr ruhige Hand hat geht es besser) Rundum wieder ein Gert von Bosch was mich berzeug

Ich habe nach dem Kauf dieses Modells den Bruder GLM30 aus der “blauen” Profi-Serie zurckgesendet.
Dieses hier ist qualitativ viel besser verarbeitet.
Das Farbdisplay ist sehr schn gestaltet. Der Funktionsumfang ist fr den Preis (im Blitzangebot) sehr gut. Die Lngen-, Flchen, Raum-Messung und alle Funktionen erschlossen sich mir auch ohne Anleitung (ich bin zwar Ingenieur 😛 Aber ich denke, andere schaffen das auch, ist keine Raketenwissenschaft.)
Die Verbindung ber Bluetooth mit dem Smartphone hat auch auf Anhieb geklappt. Die App luft stabil, ob man diese wirklich unbedingt braucht muss jeder fr sich entscheiden. Mit Jahrgang 1978 bin ich mit Papier und Bleistift aufgewachsen… wei nicht ob man zum Mae aufschreiben eine App braucht. Aber wie so oft: ES GEHT und damit wird es genutzt. Schn ist die Funktion, ein Foto von dem zu bemaenden Raum oder Gegenstand zu machen, dort mit der App Pfeile einzutragen und diese gleich automatisch mit den korrekten Maen vom Gert zu beschriften. Damit ist man am Holzzuschnitt im Baumarkt jedenfalls der Coolste.
berraschenderweise war auch noch eine kleine Stofftasche zum Schutz dabei. Das war in der Beschreibung nirgends erwhnt.
Wrde das Gert wieder kaufen.
It's great apart from the price
Works very well in most cases and is extremely accurate down to the millimetre. Delivery was fast.
However, i say “most cases” because there are some rare occasions when it will not work so well…
1: Being a laser, it obviously just goes through glass/transparent materials, so you can’t measure the distance to a surface like a window unless you stick something non-transparent on the glass (masking tape works well).
2: You also can’t measure the diameter of round/curved objects, but again this should be obvious (it’s a laser and light travels in a straight line!) so i knew this before buying. So for this type of thing you’ll still need a tape measure.
3: If there’s no surface for the laser to hit (like the edge of a table) you’ll need to stick/hold something at the edge. Even just your hand will work if it reaches.
But for MOST cases this laser is far easier, quicker and more accurate than using a tape measure. I say more accurate because often a tape measure will become slightly bent, especially over long distances, while the laser always has exact mm precision. It’s also considerably lighter than what a equivalent 30 metre tape measure weighs. Someone else had trouble with Bluetooth but it works perfectly for me. You need the app though.
4 stars though because of price… Hardware wise, there’s no reason for the high price, and the LCD screen is clearly a cheap one that even the most basic budget phone will likely beat.

It has a very bright laser which is easily seen in normal daylight and many many different measurement options including being able to use it in conjunction with a smart phone / tablet, etc to annotate photos of what you are measuring.(Not tried this yet). It is controlled by a single button which is used to switch on and off and to control the taking of measurements and it has a very bright colour touch screen from which you select the different modes of operation. One drawback of this however is that when you are trying to use this device ‘one handed’ it is very easy to accidentally touch the screen and change modes.

Excellent laser measure tool. It is convenient size and with the case can fit easily on a tool belt without hampering your movement. The connectivity to the phone is easy – only thing Bosch doesnt specify which app to download so took a few tries to get the correct one. Its very easy to use and change to do distance, area and volume which are very useful when doing a job. Havent seen how long the battery life is but am sure with the bluetooth connection it wont be that great, however uses standard AAA batteries so is easy to swap when needed.

andere aber auch. Leider ist das Hauptfeature, die Koppelung mit der Software “PLR Measure & Go” unter iOS 9 nicht mehr mglich. Die Software strzt ab, wenn Bluetooth aktiviert ist. Damit bleibt einem dann nur die Mglichkeit die Messwerte manuell zu bertragen.
Schade, dass es wohl nicht mglich war in den letzten Monaten mal zu testen, ob die Software auch mit dem neuen Betriebssystem funktioniert. Naja, Weihnachten kommt ja auch immer berraschend.
Edit: heute ist das Update der iOS-Software herausgekommen und nun geht es wieder. Damit erhht sich die Sternezahl auf 4, weil es immer noch was zu verbessern gibt.
Fr das Spielkind im Mann ist das Gert nun wieder eine Empfehlung.

Incredibly accurate, and with loads of measuring options (distances and volumes etc), it is simple to use and looks great. Nice little carrying pouch to keep the screen nice too! Excellent!
Bosch Ingenuity
Bosch ingenuity has produced a range of 3 digital laser measures with varying measuring ranges and ease of use.
After a quick read of the manual to grasp what the symbols mean the interface is very easy to understand and simple in use.
I checked some measurements with a tape and it was always spot on!
The ability to work around furniture and curtains where the device turns an angled reading into the true horizontal or vertical is very useful. You do need to rest it on something solid — handheld isn’t steady enough, but that’s fine.
There’s a free app for a smartphone that connects by Bluetooth. It sounds useful but I struggled to get my head around how to actually use it. I think I’ll stick to pencil and paper for now.
I’m very pleased with this device. The more you pay in this range of three devices the greater the measuring range and the easier they are to use.
Measures up!
Despatched promptly and well packaged. Multi-functions allow a range of measurements although for me my main interest is with accurate distances. Takes a short time to master its operations (took me a while to realise that the protective film over the screen has to be removed to view the measurements) but otherwise it is a great tool, lightweight and of a handy size.

The first one I've ever tried
I was offered this piece of kit via the Vine programme and decided to use it because I was measuring to carpets and a few other household bits and pieces.
It’s lightweight, compact and very easy to use. I can only judge it by layman’s criteria but I thought it was worth the money, especially if you’re measuring things on your own.

Bosch have taken a really simple idea and produced a well designed and easy to use gadget for precisely measuring lengths, areas and volumes. Whether you’re getting a quote for a new carpet, or you’re preparing to paint a room and want to know how much paint to buy, this is the quickest and most reliable way to measure up. It’s accurate to the nearest 2mm for distances up to 30 metres, which should be more than adequate for most people. As well as saving you the effort of doing any area/volume calculations, it can also do basic addition/subtraction if you want to combine several incremental measurements into a single total. For those who need a bit more, this model sits in the middle of the range and there’s a more expensive model that measures up to 50 metres (and has a touchscreen).
Depending on what you’re actually measuring, you may need to hold or position the device in a particular way, but that’s no problem as you can configure from which edge the device takes its measurements (the “reference edge”). There are only a few buttons needed to configure the tool, and the information is presented clearly on its sharp built-in colour screen. You can connect it to your smartphone/tablet via Bluetooth and then use the associated “PLR Measure&Go” App to record your measurements and even generate a report with annotated photos which you can email to a builder or family member. This could be a genuinely useful way to plan a big job. It works nicely on my Samsung Galaxy S5 Android phone.
The device feels solid in your hand but is still light and compact and comes with a neat carry case that keeps it clean and protected when not in use. It just takes 2 standard AAA batteries so it’s cheap to run (no expensive/bulky 9V batteries needed)! Since it’s made by Bosch, I expect it to last well into the future. This device actually makes measuring up enjoyable as well as saving time and errors. I can’t really fault it – it justifies its relatively high price so it gets the full 5 stars from me.
An obvious safety warning – don’t point the laser at anyone as it can cause serious eye damage!
Throw away the tape measure
This is a very handy gadget, simply point it at whatever you want and it will tell you how far away it is. You can choose whether measurement goes from the top or bottom of the device, allowing for flexibility in what you measure. Excellent for DIY and woodworky stuff. It has a touchscreen with a lot of options on, including spirit level and the ability to create cubic volumes. It has builtin bluetooth, so you can take the measurement data you create and sync it with a phone, tablet etc to the PLR measurement app. It’s very light and the battery life is good. I’m not a professional joiner, and I can use it okay for projects like building bird boxes, but I bet a professional could get a lot more out of it.
It comes with a handy wrist strap and a little bag for keeping it from getting scratched. Very nice.

I have nothing but praise for this little gizmo. It does things I didn’t expect… not only can you measure wall to wall accurately, you can work out the area of a room or even aggregate wall areas so for working out how much wallpaper to buy. You can also subtract, for awkwardly shaped areas, etc. Awesome. On top of that, it’s a very, very accurate spirit level, without the fluid of course. Really, really impressed with that and it seems incredibly accurate. As well as its own display, you can connect (via Bluetooth) to a smartphone or tablet after downloading a free app.
Do pay attention to the safety warnings, as always. This is a laser light and should not be pointed into the eye directly. Switch it off once you’re done with it.
This is actually a review of the Bosch PLR 50C. I am obligated to place the review under the PLR 30C section as that was the product I was meant to receive but instead I received the 50 (looking at the review it appears a number of Vine reviewers had the opposite problem).
Actually this isn’t really a problem at all (at least not for me) as the PLR 50C is a very nice piece of kit.
It is a very simple and easy to use tool, but remarkably accurate. It is well constructed from robust material, with a weight that gives it the feel of a quality piece of site kit. However, it is still light enough to enable single handed usage and comes with a carry case designed to fit on a belt.
It is very easy to use – with a touch screen graphical display menu for selecting the function required and a laser light for aligning on the object whose distance you wish to measure to. Single handed use is possible for approximate measurements, however for accurate measurement it may be better to align with one hand and then trigger the reading by pushing the button with the other hand, so as to avoid disturbing the alignment.
The device has a multitude of measuring and gauging functions including distance, area, volume, gradient and level calculations. It has in built in logic and memory to allow more complex calculations – for example to determine the residual volume when a smaller object is placed within a larger object.
To enhance its capability the tool is accompanied by a free application available for android or iOS which allows projects to be built. The tool seamlessly integrates with devices running the application via Bluetooth and provides a raft of features, one particularly useful function for quick analysis, is the ability to take a picture of the project, mark the picture up with vectors and measure them directly and seamlessly with the tool.
I can imagine this tool being use for accurate medium distance measurement, where a traditional rule would require two people and also to radically reduce the time taken to size up jobs with approximate room measurement.
Truly excellent. Really handy even for minor diy tasks.
I liked this when I had only used it for measuring spaces for shelves and parts for a new cold frame (try getting a tape measure to fit corners when bent over inside a glass box outside!), but when I explored the features such as measuring the angle of incline of objects, which can then be combined with my chop-saw’s swivel for perfect angles of meeting, I was blown away. I can’t use the phone bluetooth features as I have the wrong phone (get a Windows Phone App please), but that does not detract from the five stars.
Takes measuring to the next level
The Bosch PLR 30 C Digital Laser Measure can measure up to 30 meters. Instead of using an old fashioned tape measure this product uses a laser. I found the Bosch Laser Measure quite easy to use with clear instructions – you just place it against the surface you wish to measure and it automatically measure it and also includes its length in the measurements too. The application for recording measurements do take a little getting used too and I found them a bit on the fiddly side. It takes 3 AAA batteries. So all in all this is a good gadget that takes measuring to the next level.
There is nothing to criticise about this Bosch laser unit. It simply works and it is simple to use.
The unit will connect to a phone etc by Bluetooth and you can take single measurements or aggregate the measurements up. For example you could add up all the walls in a room to give an indication of how much wall paper or paint to buy.
Over small distances the readings from the Bosch matched a hard 2 metre rule to the millimetre.
Over longer distances I would trust this Bosch to give more accurate results then most retractable tape rules which can sag or not quite lie straight, especially if used by one person.
By sheer coincidence I am currently selling my house and I was surprised to see that nearly all the estate agents and the guy doing the EPC all had Bosch laser units albeit different models.

Just to clarify, this review is for the PLR 30C measure not the 50C and therefore the range is shorter.
The tool arrives with batteries which is a plus point for any electronic tool. There is also a very handy carrying pouch which fits on your belt.
We are in the process of moving house and the property we are moving to need carpets and decoration. This means the inevitable measuring to work out carpet sees and number of wallpaper rolls needed. With this the answer is simple. Just pop the back of the measure against one wall, press the button and the distance to the other wall is on the screen for you. You can even set it to calculate area and volume should you wish although I’ve not used that function yet.
I have downloaded the PLR App for my phone and am working through how that works but creating a plan based on photos of your room seems very easy to do. A great little app.
Overall I am very happy with this, the facility to measure angles found on the 50C would be nice.
Lightweight and petite
Lightweight and petite so easy to carry around for any measuring needs. Easy to use and buttons are clearly marked / self-explanatory. Can measure from the top of the digital measure or from the back end (presuming you put the base of the disto against the wall / measuring start point). Wouldn’t feel too confident that it would last long from too many drops (I am slightly clumsy)
This laser measure is easy to use (once you have got it out of the plastic packaging!) It is twice the price of the Bosch PLR 15 Digital Laser Measure , but for that you get twice the range (30 meters rather than 15) plus the opportunity to download the free app to your phone which then connects via blue tooth. I have also used the touch screen PLR 50, and actually prefer this version with the separate buttons – the touch screen tends to be a bit too sensitive and you trigger changes when you didn’t mean to.
In use it is flexible and functional. It is easy to use on its own and paired with your phone. The latter gives the option to record measurements over a photo or graph paper background, whereas the measurements on the machine itself are lost when you turn it off. The angle finder and spirit level functions are also features (and more accurate than apps that you can download to your phone. It is supplied with the required 3 triple A batteries.
Whether you get used to only trusting this is another matter. For critical measurements I find that I still want to check with my old skool measure. I guess this is just a question of time and trusting your own ability to use this tool correctly. Certainly if you want to work out an area of walls in a high ceiling room for instance, this gets the job done in a fraction of the time (even does the sum for you).
Bosch PLR 50 C
Lightweight digital tape measure. Uses 3 AAA batteries (supplied) and comes with a lanyard and a carry case.
One button to power on/off the screen the same button is used to take measurements. When powered on use the touch screen to access the functions. Although it comes with an instruction booklet the unit itself has a help function which when accessed gives a step by step animation of how to use said function which is an excellent feature.
Using this is much better than having to pull out the old metal measure and hope it will reach across the area you’re trying to size up. Saves a fair bit of hassle and swearing (haha!) when you find the measure you have doesn’t reach and you try and reposition it from where it left off — then have to add the figures together. Now just do it with a couple of clicks.
The unit can store measurements and has Bluetooth facility so they can be sent to another blue tooth device such as a mobile phone. It also is flexible enough to allow you to add/subtract individually measured areas so you can get a better idea of volumes measured.
It also has a really accurate spirit level (which in testing I used to level my hi-fi turntable precisely, even better than the bubble level I used previously), and a function to measure angles.
The only function I found wanting (not the machines fault as such) was the point to point function where you may be measuring an edge of a table or for instance or as the help animation shows the top of a window to the bottom (which isn’t the best example for them to use as the unit has better functions to achieve that reading). It’s easy to do, point at the one edge of the area line up the laser dot and click then move to the other end line up the dot and click again. The only problem is that it depends completely on you having an ultra steady hand and even when you press the button you’ll get movement. So like I say not the unit’s fault more down how we’re built.
So all in all a dead useful bit of kit for anyone’s toolbox, simple to use….but maybe a bit pricey for your regular DIYer and Bosch do cheaper models, This may probably be suited more for someone who would use this as part of their job.
Although offered the PLR 30 C for review, that was not the model received. The features on paper are broadly similar but there are a few differences. The 30 C has a maximum range of 30m, has rather more function buttons and no touch screen. The 50 C has a memory function but the 30 C does not. In terms of size, the 30 C is lighter and very slightly smaller, using one fewer AAA battery.
The Bosch PLR 50 C Digital Laser Measure is the most advanced of Bosch’s range and probably surpasses most similar devices from other brands. It supports ‘connectivity’ whereby it not only displays its readings on a built-in screen but is also able to transmit them via Bluetooth to a smartphone or tablet running either Android or iOS when using the relevant downloadable app (Google and Apple Stores, respectively as displayed on the packaging). Curiously, although many laptops and some desktops also support Bluetooth, Mac and Windows-based computer systems are not supported although often used on construction sites and other locations where this measure may be used. As with other such devices it uses a low-power laser but even they can be dangerous if misused, e.g. looking into the beam or shining it into someone’s eyes; it should always be switched off ASAP.
The tool is not simply an electronic measure capable of accurately providing distances between two points up to 50 metres (165 feet) apart but also includes a very accurate digital spirit level and an inclinometer to measure angles. Other measuring functions include area and volume calculations, each by a programmed sequence of readings but several others are also supported. Additive and substractive readings are also possible which may be of use with irregular areas.
The claimed accuracy is very high (within 2mm for any distance), and probably far more accurate than if using a tape measure and especially when measuring distances for door frames, windows etc which can be tricky and are often incorrect. The device would make an excellent inclusion to the work tools of many within the building and landscaping trades, as well as those planning or fitting-out kitchens, shops, office buildings or exhibitions. In order to get the best from the device, you will need to read the instructions, possibly a little more so than with other tools (not least for the essential safety precautions) but that is generally required for any electronic device. The manual isn’t very large but is multilingual.
Three included AAA batteries provide the power and should allow a usefully long working life as the device will normally be used for very brief periods, only when taking measurements, and will shut down if unused for 5 minutes but a set of spares may be advisable. Rechargeable types may also be used but may provide a shorter life per set. The device is very light, just 160gm or 6 ounces and could easily fit into a pocket, work bag etc. The device alone is no larger than a small mobile phone and much smaller than most of the current generation. A protective storage case is also provided as is a pair of assistive glasses, useful to help spot the beam and a laser target which will not always be needed.
The model also features the ability to store up to 10 readings and also has a touch screen as an alternative to the several buttons lesser models employ – it has a single function button for power and to take a measurement.
The screen is normally easily read but may require shielding in very bright conditions, a minor issue but common with laptops and other screen-fitted devices. Indoors, there is no such issue. Build quality appears to be rugged and substantial but it isn’t designed to be dropped onto a hard surface; it has not been ruggedised and the storage case has not been fitted with thick protective padding or other alternatives.
If you need the additional functions and abilities that this model provides, and can justify its higher selling price, then definitely go for it. Otherwise, the PRL 30 C would be the ideal solution, after all it was what I anticipated using.
Good but expensive
OK, before you read this review please be aware that it is for the PLR 30 C which I was sent in place of the PLR 50.
I found the product easy to use, pretty idiot proof and very accurate (as I measured against a known range (my front room) to check this all out.
It is pretty simple, uses 2aaa batteries, has clear viewing and all round is a product that will make life a lot simpler than trying to drag a tape meaure over obstacles in order to get a clear reading. Alll round I was very happy with the product however one thing I would say is that its more of a professional tool due to the price rather than something for the everyday user.
I must point out at the beginning of this review that the item offered to me was the Bosch PLR 50 C digital laser measure but the item that was actually supplied is the PLR 30 C model. The difference is that the PLR 50 C has a measuring range of 50 metres against that of 30 metres for the PLR 30 C. If you need the extended measuring distance make sure you get the correct model.
Getting that out of the way, the PLR 30 C is an extremely compact measuring device coming in at 100x42x22mm. It also comes with a carrying pouch which has a belt loop.
The unit is powered by 2 ‘AAA’ batteries, also supplied, which is claimed to give 10,000 individual measurements or 2.5 hours of continual use.
The bottom front panel contains 7 buttons which control power on/off, function button, Bluetooth button, measuring button, reference level button + and – buttons.
Powering the unit up energises the 30x20mm colour display screen. The unit always powers up to allow the base of the measure to be placed against a wall and measurement is taken from there. Pressing the reference button allows the measurement to be taken from the front face. Pressing the measuring button once energises the laser whilst pressing it briefly a second time displays the measurement. Further measurements can be taken and the last 3 are displayed in order on the screen unless cleared by pressing the power button briefly. The function button allows you to display area or volume measurements while the + and – buttons allow you to add or subtract measurements respectively. By pressing the function button it can put the unit into continuous mode where it is possible to start measuring and by walking towards a surface the unit will update the reading every 0.5sec.
As if the all the foregoing wasn’t enough perhaps the jewel in this little unit’s crown is that it also comes equipped with a Bluetooth transmitter. By downloading the relevant free app from Apple App Store or the Google Play Store it is possible to send data direct to your phone, pad or whatever device you happen to be using. I’ve not had the opportunity to try this facility out yet but it won’t be long.
To sum up then, a brilliant little box of tricks. If you need to carry out any sort of linear measuring this little beauty could fit the bill for you.

An amazingly small and user friendly item arrived in a very compact carrying case. Bosch has outdone itself with this practical, user-friendly electronic tapemeasure. Caveat: This review is for the PLR 30 C, which is the version I was sent, and not the PLR 50 C.
Many times I’ve tried to measure the distance between walls and had to put a marker down because my tape measure hasn’t been long enough. It can also be rather difficult trying to do a similar thing from floor to ceiling and nigh impossible to get the distance between two walls at the highest point, unless you have an assistant. (Tape measures tend to get rather floppy if you extend it too far.) So you need something else. Bosch have just the thing for you. The PLR 30 C is a small hand held measuring device that is a boon for finding out distances, lengths, heights, clearances, areas and volumes. Sounds complicated. It can’t be, as I can use it.
Turn it on with the bottom red button and you’re met with two icons and a numerical readout. You can switch between measuring from the rear or the front of the device with one button and another allows you to choose whether to have it fixed or moveable. That is, move it back and forth and the reading changes as it happens. The button for this is also used for area and volume measurements, which the device works out for you.
When measuring a distance, the display lets you record four at a time with the most recent at the bottom. If you try to record a fifth, the first one taken disappears. To take a measurement, just point it at a wall, etc., press the top red button and a dot appears (the icons on the screen flash red too), press it again and that’s that. You have to take the reading within 20 seconds or the dot disappears. You can also add or subtract measurements using the appropriate +/- buttons. The bottom button clears the readings from the screen. It has bluetooth to send to other devices. The ’30’ in the name denotes the maximum measured distance, which is to three decimal places.
The only thing this is missing is the ability to switch between metric and imperial measurements. Yes, I know it’s German but being a non imperial country doesn’t prevent other manufacturers from incorporating the option.
Oh, it also comes with a case and, surprise surprise, a manual. In an age where all instructions seem to have to be downloaded, it makes a pleasant change to have a good old paper one. Mind you, it seems a tad expensive for what it does.
This laser measure is super accurate. What is wasn’t expecting was how versatile it is.
Not only will it measure distance but can also measure the incline of something and act as a level (with a rather effective ball bearing over a bullseye graphic). It has clever software so you can combine measurements to work out the area and volumes as you measure places.
