Well, the first T5 I received didn’t work. Not due to the valves (I tested them and they were fine) but something deep inside the tone and reverb controls.
I exchanged it for another which works as it should.
I like what Behringer/Bugera have done here, a 5 watt lunchbox valve amp for a excellent price.
The fitted valves are ok, the distorted sound does get fizzy but the clean, crunch and early distorted sound is really good.
I have swapped out the valves for JJ Tesla power valve, Harma and sovtek pre amp valves to swap for different breakup values. The change in quality of tone is night and day compared to the Bugera ones. I’m not saying the originals are bad but the replacements gives a much wider scope.
The tone controls work better with the upgraded valves, and shape the tone to quite a degree, the digital reverb rattles with the bassier notes like a real spring, I dunno how they do it. The quality of the reverb is ok, just.
I put this through a 12″ celestion open back cab and it sounds excellent, in fact it sounds expensive! Oh, and it’s really loud. The lower output is great for the phat overdriven distortion, the middle setting is just about okay for the bedroom but needs to be turned down a tad. Full power works for small group settings meaning quiet drums etc. If you can daisy chain speaker cabs or put it through a 4×12 cab it would work. In conclusion, a brilliant, usable amp

This thing came in and I put it on a small 115 30watt cabinet I had laying around and it sounded great considering it was playing on a 60’s bass cab However even at max volume it was quiet as expected. I was curious so I brought it to band practice and hooked it up to my B52 412 I bought years ago for $100 and it was loud as can be! it kept up with our loud drummer and I had to turn up my bass player’s volume haha. This is the loudest 5 watts I can imagine! I plan on taking my fender 135 watt to get serviced now that i know i have something i can use in it’s place as a substitute. Great little amp, cant beat the value.

I wanted a mate to my Black Face Champ, to road.
This is a replacement for my little Epiphone 4 watt combo, that I should have kept.

A 4 ohm out put is pretty ideal.
Don’t let 5 watts keep you from running large bottoms. Worry about the bottoms not the amp.

I had some EL84s and 7025s laying around.
The stock tubes are just fine!

The reverb sounds better than expected, when it works. It has become intermittent.
It gets jolted back on when I engage the Phat switch.

I am not sure what that Phat switch actually does, nor have I found a schematic.
But man do I like it.
    This deserves a foot switch.

Being old school I run the master nailed open and control the amp with the gain.
    It is lively around 5 1/4 .

The power choices work, but suck the life out.
I have been staying on 5 (I think more like 4 rms)
And pushing two 10″ Vintage 30s.
    8s leave me flat.

It would be too much of a hassle to return it over the reverb.
I’ll look for a cold solder joint one of these days.
I had planned to do a NFL mod, but the Phat switch seems to cover that!

    Hope this helps. Chris

I’ve tried a few of the current crop of small valve amps and this is certainly up there with the best, especially given its price. Lovely warm
, full sound. Very handy to have tone controls and reverb built in, looks smart and well made. Not a huge amount of clean volume available but plenty for home use. Nice “just breaking up/crunch” sounds easy to obtain and the more gain and volume you dial in, the louder and crunchier it gets. Engaging the fat switch removes the tone controls from the signal path for considerably more volume and great cranked valve growl. Lovely stuff! Would recommend.

Nice warm and responsive clean sound, good breakup tone, responds to pedals well. Reverb is ok. For the price this is excellent.

he only thing that don’t like is that don’t bring on the back a send and return input and output for pedals. But …is a real tube head for a nice price…and the construction is solid and ellegant.

Klingt Super.

The treble and bass tone knobs have minimal effect with either of the 1×12 8 cabs I plugged the amp into – on the three guitars I have (stratocaster and twin humbucker), the tone knobs and neck/middle/both pickup selector switches have far more effect on the tone – but the speaker in the cab also has an effect – my two cabs are about the same size, but the one with a normal quality 8 ohm speaker sounds bright/twangy – the cab with the 8 to15 ohm Hi-Fi quality speaker with a massive magnet has a darker/base sound which I prefer

The amp arrived triple boxed and in perfect condition

The amp is loud – anybody saying it is not loud is not using an adequate speaker cabinet, or their pickups are not hot enough

I would buy again, and when the G5 with more knobs comes back into stock I will buy that one as well

Nice little monster for the money!!! Sounds good out of the box but a change to a set of quality valves wouldn’t do a big harm!! Nevertheless, a really good buy, you won’t regret!!

I can’t understand what other reviewers complaints
are about this unit?? I think their issue is dirty AC line noise,
or the awful buzzy hissy pedals placed in front of the amp.
Could be others are plugged into the kitchen circuit with the
    toaster, dishwasher and refrigerator!
No hum until you place the guitar body directly next
to the head, but who does that???

Maybe a bit pricey?? It is a bit
so, I bought two to set up a stereo operation!
I put both thru Celestion coax 12″ speakers.

Absolute audiophile clarity! Clean is CLEAN! Using the gain knob
produces creamy tube overdrive. Can’t beat the Harley chrome
plated chassis either! I’ve used some Hi Fi amps that were not as clear.
Lots of power at any watts selection. Controls are durable except
the front panel push buttons and rear watts selector switch are
good quality, but heavy handers, be careful!

Without any material playing thru it, there is not ANY appreciable background
noise or hum and I used single coil pickups, no shielding and a cheap cable!!
Very high quality build. Way better than the defunct Vox Nightrain series amps.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersSuperb single channel, all valve head, with 3 attenuated power settings, which is incredibly useful for quieter practice times. Can be dropped down to 0.1w, whilst still maintaining excellent tone, allowing your chords and individual notes to ring out with great clarity .
The built in reverb is fairly decent, but I prefer to use my HOF 2 pedal and although there’s no effects loop, it’s a great pedalboard platform running into the front of the amp.
The Phat switch gives you even more tonal possibilities and it basically transforms the head into a 1.5 channel amp.
I’ve owned this T5 head for just over a month now and for me it’s a definite keeper. Build quality belies it’s price tag. It’s a good weight and photos really don’t do it justice.
I tend to use this with my Fender standard strat, through a 12 inch speaker cab, equipped with an 8ohm celestion Vintage 30 speaker and I absolutely love this combination, it really sounds superb.
I was so impressed by the T5, i ordered the bugera V5 combo last week, with an 8 inch turbosound speaker, but unfortunately ended up returning the V5 back to Amazon. I was so disappointed in the sound quality, compared to the T5. Perhaps if I’d ordered the V5 first, I may have ended up keeping it, but glad I had the opportunity to compare the two. It was a little unfair comparing the T5 and a 12 inch speaker cab and the V5 with its 8 inch speaker, but I honestly don’t think it was all down to the speaker difference.
I know sound is very subjective, but to my ears the V5 sounded muddy and lacked clarity. There’s only a tone knob on the V5 and found i had to crank it fully clockwise to try and improve the sound.
The T5 has separate bass and treble controls, which work very well and I was pleasantly surprised by the sound quality from the headphone output.
Pair this head with the right cab and you’re on to a winner and for 122, what’s not to like, it was a real bargain.

    Great tone, great price.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI am a home guitarist and have played guitar on and off since I was a teen. But I have never owned a tube amp, as always considered these would be too loud for home use. Anyways, this amp is a piece of art. It looks beautiful and sounds great! I have set it at the lower power setting , but is still plenty loud for me. I am running through an Orange PPC108 cab. The cleans are great, and pushing it via a overdrive sounds amazing. Now I understand why valve amps are the real deal!

    Buy it!!

Excellent house valve amp. Can be played quite and loud with the flick of a switch. The 5W sound is far better than the 0.1W sound which is to be expected what with drive currents being higher. Still 0.1W sound crunchy enough. Good to record with I expect though I have not done this with it.

Golden Review Award: 26 From Our UsersI own over a dozen low-watt tube amps and thought I’d give this one a try. It’s not a horrible amp nor is it amazing. The clean tones were fine but I didn’t care for the overdrive/distortion tones. I have no doubt that my opinion would’ve improved if I took the time to replace the tubes with something smoother. Having a headphone out is nice but it wasn’t pleasant. Again, maybe better tubes would’ve cleaned it up. The reverb was okay for a digital reverb. Better than nothing. I was not impressed by the PHAT switch. Having an attenuator was welcome. The construction was fine. In the end, this did not surpass anything I already owned. I didn’t bother swapping tubes because I became very unhappy with MusicTribe, the company that owns Bugera, TC Electronics, and many others. I had repeatedly asked both pre-sales questions about various products as well as trying to deal with them with technical questions and warranty repair issues for other products I owned. After buying out these companies, they removed phone contact as an option as well as email. You had to fill out an online form. I did this dozens of times over a period of over 6 months and only received the initial automated responses saying they value me as a customer and will respond within 2 days. They never responded ever. I also tried contacting several instrument dealers, both large and small, and none of them had a working email or phone number to MusicTribe. I heard horror stories about stores not hearing back from them for months, if ever. When I was offered as much for the amp as I paid for it, I jumped at the chance to own one less MusicTribe product. Note that this was all long before COVID so no excuses.

I paired my t5 with a jensen speaker. It sounds excellent. It’s easily on par with my old peavy classic.

This little Bugera amp head is a fabulous, sturdy, heavy gauge metal cased item! I absolutely love it and it sounds amazing!! You can get gain for dirty tones or set it for clean tones so easily using the clearly labelled and great quality knobs on th front and I have tried a variety of electro acoustic and electric guitars like a Telecaster etc through it so far and they all sound terrific The amp head is very cute and tiny but can really kick out lots of volume and I have had no feedback or unwanted noise problems with it at all! Just amazing value for money and it has really good looks and very sturdy build quality! I am delighted with it I love the Bugera logo on the front so don’t understand why anyone would remove it as it adds in my opinion to the vintage good looks of this little head! I have teamed it with a made to order Honeyboy black and white snakeskin covered 2×6″ cab and it really looks smart and sounds terrific too! A great little amp head I would thoroughly recommend and for the price it is truly amazing value!

Great Looks, great sound, great value

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersI am getting back into playing music, this time for pleasure, after fifty years of not playing. It’s sort of one of the things I plan to do when I retire in a few years. Anyway, I bought the T5 to replace a Vox modeling amp; not that there was anything wrong with the Vox but no matter how many times I try, I cannot live with a solid state amp for any length of time. I had thought that it wouldn’t matter and that time would have made solid state better, but no, I still long for the sound of tubes. The Bugera has several things going for it: 1) it’s beautiful to look at, 2) it offers multiple output settings so I can play without bothering my neighbors, 3) it uses just two tubes (12AX7 and EL84), and 4) it’s cheap! I paired it with a Fender 1×12 cab and it sounds great, even at 0.1watt. Does it sound as good as my Orange TremLord 30? No, but it’s less than a quarter of the price and will be far cheaper to operate. Call me a happy camper!

I love this amp, though it literally has no gain it does have amazing tubey clean tones and awesome reverb. With my digitech distortion factory footpedal I’m able to get all the sounds I need. I run it through a fender 4×12 cab with no issues and is pretty loud. Great for recording those vintage tones.

It’s simple but it takes pedals amazingly I didn’t use the lake paddles until I tried some with this and it’s not going to be a metal lamp but it’s self but all you have to do is add a little tube screamer or something and this amp can do anything. Very low on wanted noise levels and the power attenuator is great to have. On full 5 watts with high gain the volume could literally blow your ears out could literally blow your ears out. By it self with full gain it all have an amazing bluesy crunch and on half gay and it just sounds fantastic by itself too. Designed and engineered in Germany. For the price and quality this is great. This has been an awesome little amp so far, exceeding expectations. I am running it through a Fender CyberDeluxe cabinet by attaching directly to the Celestion 12″ speaker, and it sounds great. Plenty loud for a practice amp (I have to turn it down) with great tone. The CyberDeluxe is 100% solid state so I’m really enjoying the difference with this tube amp. Reverb is a nice touch also. Build quality, as far as I can tell, is very good and the unit is solid and attractive. Recommended!

I’m comparing this to my little smoked Epiphone junior amp also running a 12ax7 and ecc83. Sound very similar but only 1/2 the volume compared to the Epiphone on full 5W setting. It looks awesome like a 1950 toaster. Running into my frankenstein 1970 Audioanalyst speaker cab it is really quiet going into a 4 ohm 12 inch weber. It screams going into a 4 inch. You can remedy the volume putting a distortion pedal in front then it will be good for playing in the house and not pissing anyone off unless sleeping. Reverb is very good and not over the top. If I could, I’d go back in time and get another $99 Epiphone but this is pretty nice for a tiny practice amp. I will have to try out swapping the tubes with ruby old school and tung sols to see if they stocked it with crappy ones.
update-I have swapped out the tubes for a ruby and tung sol and it is a tiny bit louder. I’m quite pleased with it. I don’t play clean anyway so it can scream decently with a distortion and wah in the front. It can do a decent screamy job too if gain and volume all the way up with phat switch on going into a 12 inch speaker.
Another update-it is quite a bit louder going into my cheap Fender 4 ohm 4×12 cab for some reason but what am I gonna do? I want to run it into a 1×12 portable. I don’t know why but it hates the Weber 4 ohm 12 inch single speaker. Not much volume at all. I have since gotten an Orange Micro Dark and damn this one is SO much louder and and SO much more gain. Super happy with the Orange for a little more $.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersAround Christmas, they were holding a sale on these amps. I got this damn thing for $99 bucks. Probably the best $100 I’ve ever spent. This little guy is too good to be true. ALL tube circuitry, rugged metal design (does NOT feel cheap). This little thing can sing out those crisp cleans that’ll fill a room with the sound of a much bigger amp. Push the gain, and you’ll get smooth, classic-sounding overdrive tones. Unfortunately, there’s no fx loop on such a small amp, but it does take pedals beautifully right in the front input. Can’t recommend this amp enough. Even at $150-$170, this amp is a steal.

It handles pedals very well. Low noise. Surprisingly very loud.

Compared to the Orange Micro Terror I would have to say I prefer this. The reverb is really nice and I get way more bottom and mid range with the T5 compared to the Micro Terror.

From the look of it to the sound quality. But please be aware. You don’t get the modern distorted guitar “sound in your head”. Instead you get the pure warmth of valves. Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersI bought two of these to use for a stereo rig for rehearsals and smaller gigs especially places with bright sounding rooms with a lot of glass and tile. It works great and is a LOUD 5w. The amp’s breakup starts around halfway on the gain knob and I was afraid that even with two of these I wouldn’t be loud enough to keep up with the drums. However when using a volume boost pedal I was surprised out how good it sounded pushing the input tone. I also was able to go louder on the clean gain settings. I actually was too loud in practice and had to turn down. The amp takes pedals really well including tube screamer, Rat, Morley wah, Blackstar HT-Dist, Yerasov 7000, Ibanez FL9, Boss chorus and more. I really only use a channel on amps and use various pedals for distortions so this amp works great for me. However crank the gain and it sounds great too especially with the phat switch. It would be nice have foot switch for clean to gain but I don’t mind not having it with my setup. My only complaint is that the wattage switch sucks the life out of the tone when used in 1 or .1 watts but I’ve heard that upgrading it fixes that.

Golden Review Award: 14 From Our UsersThere’s no better amp for price! I don’t always feel like pulling out the big amps to practice in my room, and typical practice amps don’t motivate me much. This amp sounds much better than most performance amps with a remarkably responsive classic tube warmth. I’m practicing mostly at the 1 watt setting, although the 1/2 watt is useful when the kids are asleep. The 5 watts has a lot of volume to it and I may use it for a gig at some point if I’m running it through a PA. I’m not familiar with this company, but I’m really impressed with this product. For the price you won’t find a better amp and I really can’t recommend it high enough.

Golden Review Award: 10 From Our UsersWhat can I say . I paid125 for this little stunner .
Is back to the bones as I wanted , no frills . If you want frills like equalizers pay double . Its well built has 2 decent valves already fitted . It sounds gorgeous with either my LP or Strat or a couple of semi acoustics . Keep it simple play well and you are rewarded with what to me is the archetypal “Valve” sound I have been used to for over 40 years from amps costing 5 times this and not too much better { louder yes } than this Behringer make .
It goes louder than it should but loses a bit of its Valve glory the louder its turned by way of the 3 way selector on the rear 0.5 , 1w and last position 5w . PLEASE don’t let those figures put you off . It has drive at sensible volumes then again I’m old and don’t like things too loud nowadays .

Too many people sit on the numbers game . Ive heard 30watters sound more dynamic and loud than amps rated at 200watts rated .
Its not going to fill the Albert hall but it might just manage to fill the scout hall .

If your looking for a fantastic sounding amp with more than a hint of Valve and don’t need it to fill too big a room then this is a very very good amp and fabulous for the money although elsewhere its about 40% more than Amazon as I write this .

Ive played through amps for a long time both trans and valve and this pound for pound is simply a fantastic sounding clean amp . If you wanna cheat look elsewhere for summit with more toys on the front and be prepared to pay a lot more .
I absolutely love to the point of considering buying another 2 and modding them to play my turntable through .
