Generally Good
Generally good however the positions of the holes for the doorbell wires are quite far away from where they needed to be attached so I had to drill new holes in the back plastic (though this is not hard to do)

Bought this to power my Ring 3 doorbell. It both powers it and it “ding dongs”. Handy if the Wi-Fi was down!

I bought this as the model is listed by Ring as a compatible product for their video doorbell 3. It works well and keeps the Ring at about 90% power constantly. The chime is loud and has a classic ding-dong chime. It was very easy to install.
Tricky bit was getting the Ring Doorbell to configure to the chime, but got there in teh end.

MY EXISTING DOORBELL CHIME WAS WIRED TO A BUTTON. I INSTALLED THE RING 2ND GENERATION AND EXPECTED THE EXISTING CHIME TO CHARGE IT AND SOUND AS NORMAL. WELL IT DIDNT. SO I PURCHASED THIS BYRON 776 AND IT WORKED A TREAT. ONCE WIRES CONNECTED, THE IN BUILT TRANSFORMER PROVIDES ENOUGH AC VOLTAGE TO THE RING 2ND GENERATION THAT IT TRICKLE CHARGES IT PERFECTLY. ALSO THE CHIME NOW WORKS IMMEDIATELY ONCE THE RING DOORBELL BUTTON IS PRESSED. VERY VERY GOOD.
The product is great, if installed for ring doorbell devices make sure that the wires that supply the video doorbell are connected on 0 and 2 positions and also once connected you need to go to ring doorbell settings and select the mechanical chime, otherwise you will go crazy like I did wondering why doesn’t ring once connected. Hope this will be helpful for you!

Works great with the Netatmo Smart Video Doorbell
Bought it to use with my new Netatmo Video Doorbell. Both work perfectly together. The sound is nice, not too intrusive but still easily heard even if the kids are shouting and the TV is on. A note for those who want to combine it with the Netatmo Doorbell – refer to the wiring instructions on Netatmo’s website. The printed manual does not show you how to connect the doorbell to this particular Byron chime.

I bought this as it has the built in transformer allowing me to use my Ring Door Bell3.
If you are using this to replace your previous DETA doorbell, you will need to drill a hole into the back of the Byron so that the bell button cabling can run into it hence the 4 star. (The power in and data out are some distance away from each other).
The chime is great and was really easy to set up. Works a treat with my Ring.

I didn’t like taking the battery out of my Ring doorbell to recharge it every few months so decided to hardwire it. I bought this Byron doorbell chime as it was recommended that it works with the Ring doorbell and has a built-in transformer. I took a feed from a porch light into the transformer and then a feed to the Ring doorbell. I also took a feed to another buzzer at the back of my house. The Byron chime now trickle charges the Ring doorbell. I had a Ring chime which I had loads of problems with, particularly connection to my Wifi, but I now no longer need that. The chime is loud and has a classic ding-dong chime. I was so impressed with it, that when I bought my parents a Ring 2 I hardwired it up for them also using a Byron doorbell chime. So I can confirm this works with both the original Ring doorbell and version 2 of it.
Only negative was trying to get the wires into the chime as the holes are at the back of the chime. Once it is flush against the wall you can’t feed the wires through it, so I had to cut out a notch using a pliers.

Refurbished house, went with a wireless system and then found it kept on failing. So went old tech, back to wires.
downside – I needed to get my own power cable. No problem as I had one.

Needs a wired bell push and a connection cable, bought separately. That was biggest problem during installation. get a decent bell push.
Upside, good ring inside house, wall mounted out of the way and managed to hide all wires. No batteries, no maintenance.
note will not work with video buttons such as Nest, power rating is too low.

Product arrived yesterday, and I installed it today in around one hour. I had trouble because the mains wiring and doorbell wiring was taped together by the previous installer, and I had to split this and cut back plasterboard to get the existing wiring in the right place. The instructions are very simple. You wire in the neutral and live wires at the bottom of the unit as shown, and the bell push wires at the top, in contacts referenced as ‘0’ and ‘2’. I screwed the new bell box to the wall, wired it up as shown (remember to cut the mains to the existing doorbell, if relevant, before starting) and it worked the first time. The ding dong sound is a bit faster than I was expecting, but it is a reasonable sound, and better than the buzz I had before which stressed me out! If you had a big house it might not carry far enough. So easy to install as a replacement for an existing mains wired bell, if you have reasonable DIY skills.
Works fine but a bit quie
I’m using this as a repeater for an existing door bell that is in the hall. I’ve fitted the additional bell in the kitchen/sitting room as the door to the hall is usually closed and there is often plenty of noise in the kitchen part of the sitting room hence we don’t hear the hall bell. Although I consider the Byron 776 is a bit quiet, it’s fine for inside a room.
Worked after I'd sorted out my house's existing cabling
This has a very good chiime. I already had a transformer in my bell system, so took the in-built transformer out (easy to do) and then just had to work out what wires should connect to which terminal. After a little trial and error, the bell chime operated perfectly. The main problems were with my house’s antiquated cabling, not the door chime.

Good product, very easy to install and nice sounding chimes. My only regret is that this model does not have different chimes for front and back door, never mind, this is because I did not read the description of the chimes carefully enough.

Like others I installed this to keep my RING doorbell charged and to provide an internal chime. It has been working hassle free for 12months just as you’d expect. However for some strange reason 2 weeks into it’s second year it has stopped chiming. Using a volt meter I can test that it still has power and that the ring doorbell is still receiving power from the transformer but on inspection it looks like one end of the hammers that hits the chimes is missing and possibly the spring that makes the hammer hit both bars has broken as there’s no resistance. You could say at this price I was lucky to get 12 months. Originally wasn’t happy 2 stars.
ADDED: Reviewed the product description and noted it came with a 2 year guarantee. After checking the online help about the Amazon no quibble guarantee found the contact us button and got the site to Call me. Good job I did as I received a call from Amazon Customer Service in Jamaica! Anyway after chatting away to the very helpful lady sat in an office in the sun (it was dark and -1C where I was) she arranged for a free replacement. So based on the cost of the product and the useful 2 year guarantee I have re-starred it, but clearly can’t give it 5 stars as it went wrong within the warranty period.

Works exactly as intended. I bought this as it was listed as a compatible mechanical chime on the Ring web site. It’s easy to mount, the instructions are clear and it works perfectly.
I was slowly getting battery power loss with my old mechanical doorbell (as well as the chime not working correctly), it now charges fine and is up 2% in a few hours, so it’ll slowly make its way up to 100% and stay there.
This is being used with the original Ring doorbell.

I bought this as I needed a replacement door chime that was compatible with my ‘Ring Video Door Bell 2’. This chime is recommended by Ring as compatible. I was skeptical as to whether it would work due to the product description stating that it’s DC and the Ring requirements saying it would only work with AC (along with other negative reviews regard compatibility). However, it works great – it chimes with my Ring and charges it without issues. I can only guess that the product description is incorrect.

Great item – used this to provide power to my Ring video doorbell. Very easy to install – I actually just fitted some flex and a plug to fit into a wall socket. Ran the cables to the doorbell and that was it.
It also means that I have a chime next to the front door and can use the wireless chime I bought with the doorbell in the kitchen.

The transformer output is 8V 1A AC and you can use a standard cable with a plug on the end to easily connect the Byron bell to the mains.
Then you can connect the Ring Video Doorbell to the Byron bell using some bell wire (8 metres of it in my case) and bingo, your Ring Doorbell is hard wired. I tested it using the full 25m of bell wire I had and it powered the Ring bell without any issues too. The Byron bell has no cable entry point for a standard cable so you’ll need to make one.
Over all it’s a great classic doorbell on its own and it’s ideal to hard wire a Ring Video Doorbell (1st generation).

Works just like it should, had a wee bit of bother rerouting the wiring because there are no access points to feed through when you screw the box to the wall, simple enough to just cut a small piece of plastic housing away, but overall the ding dong of a normal doorbell is just how i wanted it.

Bought this doorbell in the main to use its AC 8 volt internal transformer to power my new Ring ‘always home’ camera linked doorbell. Very happy with my Ring video kit and the alert I also get in my hall from the Byron chime. If you’re buying a Ring, best to connect to a transformer and save having to dismantle the bell push to regularly charge the internal battery. Dave M
I bought this as the model is listed by Ring as a compatible product for their video doorbell. It works well and keeps the Ring at about 90% power constantly. Nice loud “ding dong” when you press the button on the Ring. Fitting – a little bit of a faff but mostly down to the Ring. You need a suitable mains cable and power supply – I used 0.75mm 3A lighting flex fitted with a standard mains plug with a 3A fuse fitted. I used the same wire to connect the Ring to the bell unit. There are no cable entry points on this product you have to make your own. I wanted a wire-free finish so brought the two cables in from behind the unit – there is plenty of room to get the cables through the casing either from behind or through top or bottom. You cannot bring the cables in from the side as the chime bars are here. You need to mount this product in a portrait aspect it will not work mounted horizontally. Overall it took an hour or so to fit this and the Ring. Works great!

Nice and loud, just like in the old days. A solenoid strikes two metal bars to give a clear ding dong. I bought two of these for from and back of house for someone hard of hearing, and wired them in parallel. Perfect.

I bought this to provide power for the Ring Chime. It works really well and was easy to install. In fact, after turning off the mains, I removed a mains plug fairly close to the front door and replaced it with the Byron 776. From there it was a simple task to run some bell cable along the skirting board and up the door frame to the Chime. Because of the built-in transformer, it provides the required power and lights up the button as well as ringing in sync (actually a second before) the Chime.
This is highly recommended and is an excellent price.

Used Byron door chimes and cant fault them. They are a regular, ”no bells and whistles” door bell
I can 100% confirm this doorbell works with a Ring Wi-Fi Enabled Video Doorbell l (NOT PRO) so long as the wire you have between the doorbell and the ring.com button isn’t too long – Mine is approx 3 meters and it works perfectly, but I found it to be unreliable when I tested it with a 10m wire. It also means that the doorbell supports live viewing so you can activate the camera whenever you like, not just when there’s motion or someone presses the button.

I was looking for a bell that would work with the Ring video doorbell. This one does and also provides constant trickle charge to the video door bell. We wired this using CAT7 cables.

simple wiring and despite what some have said You can run this with batteries because that is how I have wired mine.
I did not want to use the transformer that comes built in, It is easily removed. How ever there are no terminals to put batteries inside so needed to buy separate battery holder which I sourced on Amazon. works with 6 to 9 volts, I’ve used 6 AA

Great service. I already had the bell push and cable in place, so i only had to install the all in-one chimes and transformer. Once installed, it constantly buzzed and refused to make any sound consistent with a door bell. I phoned Byron for some help and they diagnosed that the transformer was faulty. Sent it back to Amazon and and received a replacement the next day. Now works perfectly.

Great value chime, is easily loud enough in my house (which is around 2000 sq ft) and simple to fit. The transformer is not clearly marked as to which is L and N terminal, but, it does not seem to matter which way round you wire it.
Considering that the transformer is built in, I think this chime is outstanding.
Incidentally, I use it with the excellent RING door bell, and it works perfectly.

It works over a long distance....
The bell wire was 40 metres long before I shortened it but just to see would it work over such a long distance I wired it up and it did without any problem. It proves a point that this model was worth buying so if you are looking for a mains Door Chime, then this is the one.
It works well but I’ve deducted a point because the bell push needs a spacer behind it unless you want to drill a large hole in your doorframe.The terminal connectors protrude from the back.I attached a back plate from an old architrave switch which is a perfect size to act as a spacer.

Had to find a bell with built-in transformer to replace the one (of a different make) that the builders had put in but did not last long.

A quick replacement.
Bought this to replace a similar bell of different make, which had stopped working, so was a straight swap. If you were fitting this from new it is quite simple to wire up with a bell push and a mains plug.
simple one off ding dong each time bell push pressed. Not that loud, probably because it only rings once for each push.
Worth the money, as I got mine for 9.99 direct from Amazon. When I searched a few days later, with a view to buying another, I could only find one at a much higher price.
Easy to fit and with a fairly loud bell this door chime suited our purpose. There were no convenient holes however to route the cable from power supply and door push and I had to cut out small channels in the top and bottom. Otherwise straight forward and good value.
