I have a Casio Wave Ceptor bought some 20 years ago. It has worked very well, but recently it started to lose its charge when covered up for some hours. So, impressed by a 20 years usage, bought a new one. This is slightly different, but works the same way. Great when travelling. The old one is still working when getting enough light to charge.

As you can see needed a new watch and have had waveceptors previously so brought this one as I like the style and weight of the watch

Great for a woman due to the lite weight of the watch

I’ve spent ages looking for a reasonably priced , good looking wrist watch found it! Clear readable dial, multiple functions, looks well on the wrist & solar powered. great purchase at a very good price.

Bought to replace an identical one I had had for over 12 years. Old one had stopped picking up the time signal on BST changeover. Was getting a bit battered as well.
Could not believe it was still available. Stopwatch, countdown etc ideal for sailing.

The watch is exactly as described, and is easy to set up and use. It does everything it is supposed to do.

What I really love though is that most watches like this are very heavy. This one is light and a delight to wear. Being a Casio light does not equate to flimsy. It is a quality product, just doesn’t weigh a ton.

Also I have a small wrist and it is just the right size, looks great. Not a “statement piece” watch, but a very functional elegant one.

And illuminating dial means you can read it whenever / wherever.

I am very familiar Casio Ceptors. This new solar Ceptor replaces my non solar Ceptor which served me well for at least 10 years. It was reliable and very accurate and routinely every couple of years I had to take it to the shop to change the lithium battery. But the solar version put an end to the chore of battery replacement. This version is also lighter. I expect it to be as good as my previous Ceptor.

If you want time accuracy, water resistant and easy to read watch, this is your baby.

I only had it for less than a week and an update is planned in the future.
Meanwhile until then and judging by the experience I had of my previous Ceptor I award this watch 4.5 stars.

Lovely looking watch and the links on the ‘strap’ were surprisingly easy to remove.
I bought this to replace a similar one that I’ve had for several years which still works , but the hands seem to be out by 20 mins and I can’t seem to do anything about it, so I thought buy a new one. Had the old one for at least 10 years.

Beware buying the all digital Casio one with the plastic resin strap as after several years the date switches to 2005 and they just don’t work after that. Happened to me twice.

I’ve had this watch over 5 years and it is excellent. Can’t understand any bad review, just follow instructions.
Even when it was left beside a very strong magnetic field, I just followed instructions and it corrected the slight time difference that magnets had created. Has everything I want in a watch, especially easy to read immediately, no peering, and in view of all of it’s features, very well priced. No wonder it’s still produced.

I have had this watch for 8 months now after the pervious version was never quite the same after I tried to change the battery. I find this very easy to read and was quite relieved when it automatically changed when the clocks want back and I could use it to set the rest of the clocks in the house. It has proved to be rugged enough, I still have not marked the face or back, which I had managed to do with the previous glass face in quite a short time, maybe tempting fate. I see from other reviews the strap may be a problem, fortunately I had to shorten the strap so have spare links. As it has a rechargeable battery I accept this will have a limited life, but again from other reviews this looks as though it may be many years. I have the version with a blue face which was cheaper, and cannot see why you would pay more for a black face. I like the fact it closes some facilities, the second hand and the small digital screen at the bottom, when in the dark. this I assume will extend battery life. It wakes as soon as it sees some light source. I have been very happy with it, and hope to see if it will update once abroad, when we can do that again.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersFor the last few years I’ve worn a Casio Edifice M1100, great watch and as expected always the correct but then I saw this WVA-M640D at an impressive Amazon price so I bought one. Obviously a lot lighter than the M1100 and less functionality but actually all I want to know is the precise time and date and the time in Chicago (I don’t want wake up my friend in the early morning with a call).

The watch is easy to set and thank goodness Casio have cracked the bracelet shortening problem with an incredibly easy little tool that works like a charm. Reading some of the other reviews I just wonder what buyers actually want from a watch. The light button is fine, it’s on for a couple of seconds, easily enough to see where the hands are (the second hand little LED window turn themselves off in the early morning to save battery power but both are activated by light. Some reviewers objected to the hard plastic bit of the casing (Casio could offer this in different colours) but I think it’s hardly noticeable. Others didn’t like the non-glass face, yes, it is scratchable but who wears this sort of watch in an environment where it could get scratched.

The only thing I don’t care for in both the Casio watches I now have are pointless numbers round the bezel. I can’t believe that Casio would sell any less of their watches if these numbers were deleted.

So easy to use and adjust. Instructions straight forward – preferred to download a PDF as the books were so small. Taking links out of the watch so effortless with the tool provided. Will wear this in between wearing my Apple Watch. Looks smart and looks the ‘part’ too. Such a bargain price wise. Half price in the sale. Definitely worth paying even at full price. Love the overall feel of the watch. I don’t normally go for brands like Casio but I fudge have ‘a solar powered’ watch yet. So it’s now ticked and added to my list.

My previous Casio Wave Ceptor Men’s Watch died after 13 years of use just after lockdown. I assumed it was the battery but my local shop, when itre-opened said it was not the battery and must be an internal problem. I therefore ordered the new model fromAmazon andhaave been very happy with the watch or the past 14 days. I especialy lile that it is solar powered and a little easier to use the control buttons.

I already have a similar watch, but it has several dials on it which make it difficult for me to read the time, this watch has NO dials, just hands & digital read out at the bottom, one review said the illumination did not light up the digital read out, it`s not supposed to, it illuminates the whole face making reading the time in the dark easy. First off I had to remove two links from the strap, this was so easy I did it in two minutes, set the time zone, at which time the watch reset the time and I was up and running. The watch is excellent,I now know the time, day & date, which is all I need from a watch. There is a stop watch & time elapsed if you need them.

As others have noted, the watch sets itself up as soon as you open it’s tin box. It went straight to the correct time with no input of any kind from me! Next morning it was an hour fast and on checking, like others have said, it was set to Paris time. Using the instruction book I reset it to London time and it’s been perfect ever since. Whoever designed the strap and link adjustment system deserves the Nobel Prize. EVERY watch/strap should be like this. Truly brilliant!

Bought this as I just wanted a cheap watch that I could happily wear out in the garden and doing odd jobs around the house – not the sort of things you wear a watch worth thousands doing. Very pleasantly surprised by this Casio Waveceptor. Ok, the case and bracelet look and feel a bit cheap and it only has a mineral glass face but then it cost less that 100 and it is more accurate than my rolex or any of my vastly more expensive other watches with it’s daily connection to the atomic clock which resets it to the correct time. Plus it has a night light, has lumed hands, has a stop watch, world time , timer, alarms and day/date functions and has 10ATM water resistance. Frankly, you can’t afford not to buy this watch.

Had a previous model of this watch for many years. That one was extremely tough and waterproof, very accurate timekeeping, easy to read and use. Also reassuring to know that the watch was always showing exact time and never any concern over any battery failing at least convenient time.
So far I’m not disappointed with this version. It looks good as a smart everyday watch but still take all the hard knocks of daily use. Has a nice feel on the wrist too.
The package also contains a small tool for removing links from the bracelet so adjustment to fit took just a few minutes. NO need to spend any extra for any ‘special’ tools as linked to it on this page!!
In all a great watch at very reasonable price.

After having an automatic watch that had a mind of its own and took regular breaks I just wanted an accurate watch so I went for a radio controlled one. The watch is very easy to set up and I’m definately not tech savvy. I decided to take it to jewellers to take a couple of links out the band as my fingers not so supple do to old age creeping up. H Samuel politely told me the charge was 20 . When I told the assistant I’d rather use it as a pocket watch than pay that , she said ALL jewellers charged the same. They might do but the bloke on the local market charged me 4. And did it in 5 minutes. The watch is brilliant. Good to look at ,some useful functions and a great time keeper. . I have a radio controlled wall clock and was amazed when checking them against each other even the seconds fingers are in sync. I would have no hesitation in recommending this watch . It’s a great price and definately value for money

It tells the time accurately. I found it difficult to use any of the functions. You need very good eyesight to see the digital display. The hour bleep is so quiet you can hardly hear it, and I haven’t figured out how to use the alarm yet.d
Other than that, it’s a nice watch for the price. the analogue dial is easy to read. I’m not displeased with it.

This watch was purchased to replace a Casio Wave Ceptor I had owned and wore everyday for 9 years and worked perfectly. Unfortunately I lost the watch and this is the nearest to the old one. Very happy with this one, very clear easy to read face with lovely background colour plus no battery changes now. It works straight from the box and only needs changing to London time signal and it does the rest, the bracelet size is also very easy with the provided tool. Thoroughly recommend this watch.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersThis watch offered what I was looking for:
    – Accurate Time, down to the very Second due to Radio Control feature
    – Light weight due to Titanium
    – Service free due to Solar cells powering the watch there is no need for the otherwise frequent battery replacements

The watch is delivering on those promises and I’m happy with the purchase.

That being said there are unfortunately also some downsides with this watch:
Titanium is not only light weight, but also far less scratch resistant than for example Stainless Steel.
I had scuff marks on my watch and strap within just a few days. Nothing too serious, but the new watch looks therefore very quickly “used”

The Radio Control somehow requires a gap in the metal casing of the watch, which is filled with some hard rubber/softer plastic and doesn’t look overwhelmingly stylish either. I don’t know if the sealing in the watch is sufficient to swim or snorkel, I have my doubts and consider it only splash water resistant.

But my biggest pain point is the watch glass: it’s plastic and I found it scratches very easily.
Overall I consider this a good buy and good value for money, the watch does exactly what it should do and I do trust the hour beep to be 100% accurate

It has a lovely dial, has weight and feels a quality product. Once set up it runs forever. Never had any problems at all. Would heartily recommend this great value product. Well done Casio!

As soon as you take the watch out of the box it starts working, first picking up a signal from wherever you are: Rugby, the United States or China. (Sadly, not India, yet.) It’s solar-powered, so you then put it in bright sunlight, or even indoor light, and it starts to charge up,going from MID to HI. [Thinks: HI there!]
My previous Wave Ceptor is battery-powered, though the battery will last for years (unlike certain Watches I could mention).
Oh, the new model has a second hand, and one of the buttons illuminates the whole dial.
There is a battery of alarms and timers built in, so there are no more excuses for missing an appointment.
You can use the analogue face to tell the time while using the digital screen for a different time zone, which is handy when travelling by air. When you reach your destination, you then change the time zone for the time you are away.

My only serious criticism is of the manual. The printed one is much too small to read comfortably, and the online PDF manual is much the same. Plus, it does not allow you to use bookmarks at all. This is a real downer, but it seems that manufacturers do not understand the uses of Acrobat! In my case I needed a telephone call to Casio to work out where to start when setting the time zone; the key is that Timekeeping mode is when the digital screen shows the day and date. All sorted now.

The watch is a very good timepeace. It can be readily adjusted to different locatoions and will pick up thecorrect time signal for the location it is set for, providing a transmitter is within range. The only dislike is that it was described as having a stainless steel case. In fact the case is plastic or resin with a stainless steel cover. This is my 3rd Casio Wave Septre watch. The first was mainly a resin case and basically the corner broke off. The second had more steel and lasted many years. This is far better than my fist one but it remains to be seen if the resin will be a weakness.

I have had one of these watches for eleven years, what I like about them is that you know the time is exact all the time, never any need to adjust. Had a small problem setting this new watch, it was consistently an hour fast, then decided to follow the old maxim, when all else fails, read the instructions, apparently it was on the wrong time zone. Now showing the correct time. The solar battery is an unknown quantity, will have to wait and see how the charge is maintained. Hoping for many years of consistent timekeeping.

I have just purchased this Casio Wave Ceptor watch because my almost identical Casio Wave Ceptor watch has lasted 11 years. I did not once have to adjust it once in any way once I had set it for DST. The solar power and the radio reception have been totally faultless. Unfortunately because of the winter light and long sleeves I neglected to look at the state of the battery and for the first time it died on me. Once I put it on a window ledge it soon came to life again and the digital read out was accurate. Unfortunately I cannot get the analogue display to correct itself, either manually or automatically. I paid about 68 for it and consider it an excellent investment. Nothing lasts for ever and for a watch in that price range I am well satisfied. Fingers crossed that I will enjoy the same reliability with my new purchase!

There is nothing to dislike about this watch. I had one of its predecesors, which I bought in about 2003, and it has lasted 15 years without needing adjusting (even for BST/GMT changes) or new battery. The old one is still working but it’s light’s gone a bit wonky, so I though it was about time to retire it. The latest version is thinner, lighter better looking and even easier to see and use than the old one. No point in buying any other watch. Looks good too, or so I’m told.

Runs on solar rechargeable battery. I swim with it and have been to many countries with it using the world times. A very well designed and made watch that doesn’t come apart when you drop it or play sports. The solar charging reduces the potential problems of damaged seal when when replacing batteries on more common design of watch. The seal is marked as being good to 10 bar – about a 100 meters depth.

Multi band automatic time correction makes this excellent for travel.

Another minor feature is that you can change the language of the displayed day name. As I’m studying Japanese I keep it set to show the Kanji abbreviations for days.

The strap is very easy to adjust, as a tool for removing links is included in the box.

    I really love this watch.

    Solar powered.
    Day/date.
    5 alarms
    Timer.

    Summer time daylight saving
World time. – check the time in other cities around the world.
    Watch face light.
Unbelievably easy to take out and put back bracelet links using the special tool supplied with the watch.

    UNBELIEVABLE FOR 112.50!!

The only downer is the lens which is acrylic.
Who on earth in Casio made the ludicrous decision to put an acrylic lens on such a fine piece of time keeping?
Do the right thing and charge a bit more to cover the cost.
I have a citizen f900 and quite a few AT Citizens and it’s giving all of them a run for their money!
    BUY ONE!
I have discovered a flaw in this great value watch which may account for the low price. I have a small collection and decided to use this one as my everyday watch. Since wearing it for about a week I have noticed that the bracelet has picked up a lot of scrapes especially near the clasp area.
I thought that titanium was supposed to be more resillient than stainless steel. The lens, although not glass, remains unmarked.
Still a great watch but I am not surprised that it has this flaw.
I now realise why citizen have a special coating on their titanium watches. Something had to give with the spec. against the price.
Please don’t be put off. This is still a great watch and real value for money.
Since my last review the price of this fine watch has gone down even more (approx 18) from when I bought mine.
It is the ultimate watch from a practical point of view. Not a collectors watch because it is such great value for money.
This watch is for those who want a watch to use that doesn’t cost a fortune.
It knocks those multi thousand pound, diamond and gold encrusted watches into a cocked hat – unless you like being a poser and can afford that sort of thing.

Really like this watch. I found a little complicated to set up. The buttons are different to my last Casio. I need to take the instruction book with me. However once set up it works well, & looks a lot more expensive than it actually was.

Two Seiko analogue battery operated watches had done me 40 years both gaining about 10 seconds a week and batteries lasting about five years which is pretty good but I fancied an atomic radio controlled one for greater accuracy. Seiko ones are several hundred pounds and after much searching I found this one on Amazon at under 100 – strangely my preferred blue faced one was 20 less than black. Nice stainless steel case only slightly thicker than my previous watches. Handy little tool to adjust length of strap and press button strap release. Although the watch has several features I would not use such as a stop watch, setting it up for UK BST was not too complicated and it now synchronises itself every night. Useful for work when no one can agree the time to finish! The added bonus of being solar powered so no battery changes. I thoroughly recommend i

Lighter in weight, than the original Wave Ceptor that I’ve had for over 10 years.

This is an excellent product as the watch is easy to read, is comfortable on the wrist (with very simple length of strap management) and provides many features. As well as the usual timer, stop watch it has world time, solar battery charging and international time signal making it accurate to the second. Add to this the fact that it is waterproof you have, in my view, the ideal watch!!

Arrived on time. Easy to set up. Especially easy to alter bracelet length with small included tool. For use in UK set to LONDON time (this one was set to PARIS). Early days yet but I am very happy with the purchase.

Told the right time out of the box even though it was set to PAR (European time) rather than LON (UK time). But after changing to LON and letting it get reception it was OK.
I wonder how many people are using theirs with the wrong setting? I might have left mine as it was because it appeared correct!
Face colour was darker than picture, almost black but I’m very pleased with the appearance apart from the bit of grey plastic around the sides. Others have mentioned that the “glass” appeared to be acrylic and scratched easily, so I was concerned about ordering it, but this model definitely has a mineral glass face, it seems to be the titanium version which has the acrylic face. I would have liked more fine adjustment holes in the bracelet as there are only two adjustment positions at the clasp, not quite enough to cope with 9mm difference when removing/adding links, not as versatile as other metal bracelets I have had before.
All in all an excellent watch and there didn’t seem to be many others to compete with its features at the price and I definitely wanted a solar, radio controlled watch this time.
I have only had it for a week so far and am very pleased with it!

Update: One feature I subsequently noticed was the Power Saving function; in the mornings the digital display is often blank and second hand at 12 even if the battery charge is “HI”, but the watch hands are showing correct time. This worried me to start with until I discovered that it goes into this sleep state after about an hour in the dark, however, it soon changes back to normal mode again.

What happens when you go abroad? Well once you have given it your “home” location (e.g. LON) that is the only one it uses, so when out of range it just works as a quartz crystal controlled watch (no RCVD indication). Any world time zones selected will be relative to that home time. If you really want it to change to precise local time elsewhere, you’ll need to re-set the city code and synchronise it to that, probably not worth the effort for short trips and the need to re-set it again when back home.

This is an excellent watch and is extremely comfortable to wear. I particularly like the way the watch “sleeps” when it gets dark and springs into action when it receives light on the solar cell. No more adjusting the time and changing the batteries. Such a lot of technology for a very reasonable price. Excellent product.

I love beautiful watches like Rolex and Tag Heuer but I have to admit that for daily wear/use this is about as good as it gets. It even looks smart.
