Great coffee when it is not clogged up I am hyper careful about drying everything but the chute by which the coffee drops into the filter that the instructions make out to be easy to clean if it clogs is v difficult to do , I am using coffee beans , it might work better with ground

Fresh tasty coffee, timer, programming coffee time, I don’t like that it has not warming or heating feature timing that keeps coffee warming longer time after brewing it, like for 3 or 4 hours!
After one year and 8 months using this machine, I can’t change my positive review, however I’m adding some negative feedback from my own experience, this machine does not have warmer functioning, it’s just warm the stainless-steel carafe for short time and stops, there’s no warm function,
This machine grind coffee as much as water quantity, no matter you set cup quantity

The only downside that it uses all water in the container, regardless of your specification of number of cups or strength of the coffee

Has proved durable. finally failed by grinding coffee independent of brew and cup settings. Some grinder ware resulting and weaker coffee. LCD can be hard to read, it has no back light. All removable brown parts have been in the dishwasher on a daily basis. No deteriation . Jug difficult to clean– use pressure washer once per year to clean . We are in a soft water area.

The concept of bean-to-cup is great and I don’t regret buying this machine. However, due to the quality of build it is clear that this product won’t last forever and you can expect to buy another one in about 3 years time. This is the second one I have bought.

It’s easy to use but the ready beep is easily missed as it is quiet. The pot doesn’t keep coffee warm for long and it is awful to pour – easy to over miss the mug and have to tip it up completely or take the top off to get the final drops of coffee out.

It delivers what I expected mostly. It is a little bit fiddley – you must remember to empty, clean and line up the filtering parts. You must remember to change the dials re the amount of coffee and strength. You must wait and remember to scald/preheat the coffee jug…. I suppose I would still like the coffee to be a little hotter- it’s the hardest thing to get from all these machines.
The grinding /crushing mechanism certainly improves the flavour compared to the centrafugal cutting of the beans. That’s the outstanding feature.

I liked the fact that you did not have to measure or grind the coffee, you just set the amount of coffee you needed to make, filled up with water and off it went. It made a noise when grinding but this didn’t last long and was not unpleasant. The filter is easy to clean. I usually stick it in the dishwasher and put the grounds on my garden. Our local Village Hall now has two of them because we recommended them!

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersBoth I and my lass are coffee enthusiasts. Not nerds that spend tons on cash on it, but can really taste the difference between a cup of love and black trash.
Before this majestic creation, we used the espresso pot for special occasions and a regular filter brewer in the morning. Good quality beans but no luxury. I really enjoyed my coffee life.
When the filter brewer died after five or so years we decided to get a new one. The Swedish coffee machine market is rather inbred so in my search, I chose the global option and ended up here. The price seemed a bit costly at the end (around 180 if that tells you heathens anything) but according to the reviews it seemed worth the try. I was not disappointed.
In relation to the filter brewer with pre-grinded beans, this machine’s coffee releases particles that saturate the taste buds in ways I didn’t know was possible. I have, without exaggerating (although this review genre would’ve allowed for it), stepped down from 4-6 cups a day to 1-3. My mouth cannot take any more coffee taste than that.

Missis rated it 4,2/5 since you have to adjust the cups by 2 (tiny) instead of one and the pot is not ideal to pour from – it leaves coffee and spills if you pour to steep.
Personally, I don’t care about the cup-rate and believe that not pouring everything from the pot will leave the murky residue where it belongs.
I give it 4,5/5. The plastic pieces look like they’re begging to be broken (that’s the reason for 4/5 in durability). Nothing has broken in 5 months though, so it’s still unconfirmed. If there’s good customer support and easy refitting of parts than this can be ignored, but that’s also not yet tested of course.
It’s easy too clean, producing fantastic quality coffee, doesn’t cost a hand and a leg. Buy it if you like good coffee, if not drink dirt ya cheap bastard.

    Anders out.

Great coffee machine, simple and easy to use, ideal for our office, handy how it had a hopper and measures the beans.

The coffee come out fresh and stays warm for ages.

Only down side is that the water doesn’t come out too hot so we tend to fill it up with boiling water to start.

Unfortunately, we had to return the machine after 3 months but the support were very helpful and placed it within a few days.

Golden Review Award: 34 From Our UsersThis is the second one of these that we have had, and between both we had a brief, and overall poor experience with another make/model.

We first had an earlier version of this unit back about 10 years, it worked perfectly for many of those years but we mistreated it by not descaling it and swapping the charcoal filters which in a hard water area such as ours is never good. The flask also started to leak when pouring, which could have been easily resolved. But the combination of the two things and perhaps wanting a bit of a change we opted for a smaller coffee maker from another manufacturer. This we gave up with after less than 2 years because it started to use less than the required water when brewing a coffee so ground 8 cups worth of beans but only used 4 or 6 cups worth of water. I suspect this was down to the hard water again as it would work better after a thorough descaling.

Cuisinart has made a couple of changes to this coffee maker since the earlier model. They have made the top part of the unit a little smaller, more compact shall we say, which is a welcome change at the older version was quite tall. They have done this by making the bean hopper, the control panel and the filter area a little more compact height wise. It also sounds a little quieter when grinding coffee, which is a welcome change as the old unit used to wake up the neighbour, two doors down!

Everything else is the same incuding the jug/flask. This is one of my gripes with the unit. Its a fine industial flask, but more suited perhaps to a restaurant offering free refills over breakfast and less suited for a kitchen. When pouring you often have to poor with the jug over 90 degrees to the cup due to the shape of the flask. This is only a minor gripe mind you. The only other gripe is some alternatives measure the water when brewing coffee so that you can fill the water tank to whatever level you want and the brewing process will only use the water required based on the cup setting. This model does not, it uses the water until the tank is dry.

Gripes over. This is a great coffee maker with a proven track record for durability and the most important part is it makes great coffee consistently, day after day, year after year even if you treat it bad. Treat it good though and this thing will see you through to retirement and beyond.

    Pros:-

    – Proven to last years
    – Easy to clean
    – Removable been hopper, again easy to clean
    – Consistent coffee
    – More compact and quieter that previous version
    – Charcoal filter
    – Looks nice

    Cons:-

    – Industrial jug
    – Needs exact wate

Golden Review Award: 60 From Our UsersWonderful machine. Just had it for just over a year and so far, a good experience.
Feed it good coffee beans and it will give you a great brew. Coffee beans well ground, water temperature seems to be right, the carafe keeps the coffee hot for a considerably long time.

    Water
We add pre-filtered water into the machine, even though its got its own filter.
We use filtered water for everything and our kettle is a testament that it works. Hardly ever needs to be cleaned and even then any scale is so minor you do it for routine than anything else.

Each cup requires around 150ml of water

    Coffee amounts
The coffee ground amounts to around 1 heaped tablespoon, or 8gr per cup.
Majority of the time we just not much more than what we are doing at that point.

    Brewing
The cups setting is to indicate to the machine how much coffee to grind. Water-wise, it will use all the water in the water container. Normally its straight, just put the right stuff and the right settings and off it goes.

    Tip:
On occasion when had the incorrect coffee/water match,] only realising after turning the machine on, its still possible to correct and save the brew. All because the machine will use all the water its been supplied.
If its too much water for coffee grind setting: Let if finish the grind, turn it all off. Add more coffee pre-ground to the basket, press the no grind button and let the machine to brew. You can also choose to let the machine grind an extra 4 cups and do as above.

If its too much coffee, you can simply add more water as you go.

    Carafe
Pre-heating the carafe with hot water prior to the brewing, allows it to keep the produced coffee at a good temperature for hours. Anything 6 cups and above will remaing good for 3or 4 hours. Great when working from home or a lazy weekend.
It was a great shift from one of those glass carafe’s with a thermal heater underneath, which many point fingers for burning coffee not consumed soon.

    Grinder
Preferred this machine over the slightly cheaper model as the grinder mechanism is supposed to be better. And no complaints. The final grind seems even and a good size for filter coffee.

    Brew
The water seems to be dispensed evenly enough over the coffee grinds.

    Cons
    Small issues, all with
Brewing for 4 cups is not reliable for me, sometimes the resulting drink is over brewed. But anything 6 and over is great.

Ground coffee gasket is not that big and struggles with 12 cups. So never tend to do more than 10.

The basket itself needs to be in a particular ‘slot’ to allow the top cap to fit correctly for the door to close. caused a few issues initially as the door just wouldn’t close and would push itself open even though the arrows were perfectly aligned. However, getting the basket in some slots it sits slightly lower than others which then allows the whole thing to be set correctly.

The carafe’s valve system means that inside its a rounded vessel and to get the whole of the liquid out (final 1/2 cup), you need to remove the top and gently turn the carafe completely upside down!
Also the opening is not wide enough to use a handle sponge to clean and so one of those brushes with a handle is preferred for that.
On the upside, its this system that keeps the carafe’s temperature up without the need to press any coffee dispense buttons (and forgetting to close it), so I can live with these slight inconveniences.

All in all, for 135, what else could you hope for?

Oh, free fertiliser for the garden?! Check!
The finished grounds still provide a great source of nitrogen for all your composter and later benefit your garden/lawn/flower beds.
I keep a 1kg yogurt tub (which you can quick rinse and reuse for a few months then replace and recycle, which we do every couple of months usage) under the sink to hold the spend grounds for a number of brews.
They are quite fine so rather than adding to ground directly where they can compact and strangle the supply or air and water to the root systems, compost the grounds first.

We drink a LOT of coffee… probably at least two full jugs a day, 365 days a year… the coffee is consistent and after you’ve had bean to cup you won’t want to go back to pre-ground… DO clean the grinder regularly – other than that this machine is light duty on maintenance- one of the few kitchen appliances I’ve ever owned I feel motivat d enough to endorse!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersA wonderful machine that changed the way we enjoy coffee at home. The whole thing reeks of quality. Some say it’s annoying to clean and dry the parts every time you use it, but for me it’s well worth it for the freshness and quality of the brew. The carafe does not have a heater that stays on underneath it for long, so the coffee is not constantly being cooked. It pours in fresh and then stays hot for at least 1.5hrs before it starts to gradually cool down. If I have a cup after 2hrs I usually give it a very quick blast in the microwave (before adding milk) just to top up the heat a touch.

    Great so far!

I agree with other reviewers- does not always get hot enough. I pre -warm the water and jug. Good ceramic burr grinding making lovely coffee without the fuss of frothing milk etc. The jug is odd. I take the lid off to pour and it works OK. I can see why people have got frustrated with it, but now I have the hand of it, I’m happy.

Everything I had hoped it would be. Simply read the handbook and follow the instructions. It did take a few attempts to determine the correct strength of the coffee but quickly settled on a blend and amount to suit our taste. Our main priority was to produce ‘hot’ coffee which this machine does perfectly.

I think it is excellent value. The coffee made from beans is reliable quality every time. It takes about 6 or 7 minutes and stays hot for quite a while.
Simple to operate. The little water filters are good also but one should remember to replace regularly. Cleaning is not difficult.

I like the new model better as its a bit easier to clean now when using the automatic bean grinder. It makes a great cup of coffee for at the 12-cup medium setting and couldn’t be much easier to use. I expect this one will last me a long-time as the previous one….which I gave away when we moved and is still working for out friends.

Golden Review Award: 18 From Our UsersWe LOVE coffee, and we love exploring new, interesting beans from local roasters. So we like to really taste the expensive beans we indulge in. That’s why, until I bought this Helpful Coffee Robot, our morning coffee setup was an Aeropress and a Hario hand-cranked burr grinder. Delicious coffee, yes, but very labour-intensive in the morning.

I bought this machine because I wanted filter coffee made with freshly ground beans made automatically, on a timer, in the morning. I chose the Grind and Brew Plus because it has a burr grinder, which grinds beans more evenly, as opposed to a blade grinder, which roughly chops beans into pieces. I also chose it because it has a thermos carafe – I don’t want my coffee sitting around on a hotplate, getting increasingly scorched.

We’ve used it for two mornings in a row now, and I’m very pleased with the purchase. I’ve noticed a lot of complaints in previous reviews about the strength of the coffee. The Grind and Brew Plus will use all the water you add to it, so I’ve found it’s very easy to adjust the strength of the coffee by adjusting the number of cups you want, as more cups = larger dose of ground coffee. I’ve been adding enough water for about 4 cups in the morning, and adjusting the cup dial to between 6 and 8, and I’ve got no problems with the strength.

The grinder is quite noisy in the morning, but I quite like that. I want it to wake me up anyway!

As for the temperature – coffee consistently comes out of the carafe steaming hot and delicious, even when it’s been sitting around for a while. Again, I like to be able to really taste my coffee, so I don’t need it to be absolutely scorchingly hot. If you do, it might be better to buy a model that uses a glass carafe on a hotplate.

The only slight irritation is the filter. It comes with one of those gold-tone mesh filters, and I have no interest in using that long-term. I bought a pack of basket paper filters – the one recommended by Amazon – to go with this coffee machine, but they’re too big to fit into the filter basket. According to the instructions, it takes a #4 basket filter – but I cannot for the life of me find these filter papers anywhere. I’ve taken to physically trimming down the paper filters we bought. This might be because filter-style coffee machines are less popular in the UK, but still, I wish it was easier to find paper filters to fit!

In the end, the coffee from this machine is really delicious, comparable to the coffee from our aeropress/hario set up. It’s a pleasure to wake up to fresh, delicious coffee in the morning made by a helpful robot. It’s just a shame about the filters!

I am not the coffee drinker in the house. To me a coffee pot is a coffee pot. My husband raves about this one and he is a real connoisseur of coffee. It works well and does a good job of the grind. If it had any faults, I wish it had a larger capacity pot and the burner plate stayed on longer. But the carafe does well to keep it hot long after the brewing.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis machine makes lovely coffee and keeps it hot for 3-4 hours but it does have several idiosyncrasies which we have discovered only by trial and error. 1 being the essential step of lining up the arrows on the filter basket and holder (they tend to swing out of position when closing the door resulting in an annoying and continuous beeping) 2 The ground coffee beans tend to build up into a compact cake in the post grinding compartment over a week resulting in the coffee becoming progressively weaker until just water comes out. Once you know about these things they are easy to anticipate and prevent but the learning curve is quite frustrating.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI absolutely love this machine. I do agree it is not “perfect” and there is some room for improvement. However, it does exactly what you expect it to do and it has one of the best features on any coffee machine…. no need to buy paper filters.

I use this machine everyday. It is as simple as making sure you have enough beans, fill it with water and push on. The machine will grind the beans, filter the coffee and give you a full cup of coffee in a few minutes.

    Cons:
    – You can not make 1 single cup. A minimum of 4 up to 12. However, 4 “cups” is enough to fill 2 mugs of coffee.
    – You have to wait until the cycle of coffee is completed before serving yourself a cup. If you pour yourself a cup while the machine is still working, the coffee will taste weak. Just let it do its own thing.
    – The noise… well, not really. It is a coffee grinder. It does not make any more noise than any other machine. And to be honest, I personally do enjoy the noise of beans being crushed for my coffee. But if you dont, you can always buy grind coffee and use the machine with the grinding option.

    Pros:
    – Very easy to use and to clean. I am a bit lazy and not a big coffee snob (but I do have my standards) and normally rinse the filter every other day. A deep clean every other week, and that’s it.
    – NO FILTERS. I can not put too much emphasis on that. All you need is to get your coffee (either beans or already grinded) and water. The machine has a metalic filter system that only needs rinsing. No need to keep buying and disposing paper filters.
    – Fresh coffee EVERY morning. Do I need to say more?

Again, this is not the BEST machine in the market. But it is certainly the best for that price. It does not do any of the “fancy” coffees out there, but it is good and what it does. Making coffee. I highly recommend it.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersGreat machine. It is programmable, so you can have your coffee ready when you get up. Takes about 13 to 15 mins to brew a full pot which is just fine. Easy and quick to clean. The jug is a thermos-type flask with a locking lid, so it keeps your coffee hot for hours without using the usual hot plate which just stews the coffee anyway.

Only POSSIBLE issue is that the re-usable filter basket and its handle seem a bit flimsy and may not last long if you use the machine three or four times a day. We’ll see!

I’ve never completed any of these feedback reviews before, but I love this machine, and it deserves to be praised.

We have have had the Cuisinart Grind and Brew Plus for over two years and its still making great coffee. As the brew time is very quick we only use the delayed grind and brew facility for those really early morning starts. I don’t like glass carafes which slowly stew the coffee on a hot plate. The thermal insulated carafe, keeps the coffee warm for a few hours, not that it needs to in our household.

Golden Review Award: 11 From Our UsersI have now had this coffee maker for over six months. This has allowed me sufficient time to properly review it.

It is a fantastic item to have in the kitchen, especially for coffee lovers.

Once out the box, it is easy to follow the instructions to set it up for the first time. Everything is clearly labelled, and once I had set it up then fresh coffee was about 3 minutes away!
Two main things to remember if you do not wish to have a full pot of coffee:
    1. Do not fill the water tank up to the top level – however much water you put into the reservoir, then it uses it all.
    2. Change the number of cups on the front for the amount of coffee to be ground.

You can select Strong/Medium/Mild via a push button on the front, but on my machine it all seems to be pretty much the same. There are only slightly less coffee grounds used in mild as opposed to strong.

Another recommendation is to use coffee filters in the “basket”, as the holes in the “basket” are a little large and allow quite a lot of grounds into the coffee jug, so you cannot use all of it, as there is sludge in the bottom.

I use this device pretty much every day, so it has been used for >150 times.
I have noticed that the coffee chute from the grinder to the filter basket regularly blocks. I have used different types of coffee and some of them are more “oily” for want of a better description and these clog up the chute a lot lot quicker. The best coffee I used was from a small coffee shop and it was what they used for their customers, this didn’t clog the machine as much as the standard supermarket coffee beans. This may be because the coffee machine was newer then, or just less oily beans.

I’d suggest using the best coffee beans you can, to minimise the blockaging/cleaning of the machine.

It is well worth taking your time and experimenting between the different strengths of the grounds and if still too strong, reducing the number of cups you grind for, but fill the tank full.

The coffee jug is well insulated and can keep a full jug (initially) hot/warm enough to drink black coffee for about 4 hours. After that sort of time, you will need to heat of the coffee in the microwave to get it to a nice temperature. It doesn’t affect the taste too much.

When using the jug, just be careful of the first pouring, as water and coffee grinds can be on the surface of the lid, so are likely to spill into the cup. Make sure the lid is on properly, or the coffee doesn’t pour straight and so may miss the cup all together. The last 1/2 -3/4 of a cup (mug in my case) is a lot harder to pour, as you need to almost invert the jug to get the last of the coffee out. Then you are likely to get the grounds than have got through the filter and “basket”, so just be aware.

Would I recommend this device – of course I would. It is part of my daily routine: get up, press the “go” button, do my ablutions and get dressed and then the coffee is all ready waiting for me to consume it. Perfect start to the day.
If you wish to be even lazier, prepare everything the night before and put it on a timer and it will start the process automatically at the time you set!

We absoluely love this coffee maker. I bought it with some reservations after reading some of the reviews. It can be a bit fiddly to learn to operate and get the coffee strength right. Also the carafe is a bit ackward. However once you get it going, you have
wonderful freshly ground coffee as quickly and easily, as using the cafetiere that we had for years. Just keep it filled with the coffee beans of your choice, add the proper amount of water and press the button. The room fills with the lovely smell of freshly ground coffee. The coffee is as good as your beans, very smooth and not bitter. Bitterness was the reason we wanted to move on from the cafetiere. We never would take the time to freshly grind the beans ourselves before usng the cafetiere. Yes, the grinding action is a bit noisy, as you would expect, but only for a short burst of time, and you are awarded with the lovely aroma. And, yes, you might have to remove the cover from the carafe to pour properly, These little inconveniences are small compared to the cup of coffee you get. Clean up is just rinse out the carafe and the filter. It was thought that we mightn’t use it, as with other gimmicky appliances, but we do make brewed coffee every day, and, yes, it is as easy to use as the cafetiere. Also you can use any beans of your preference in it, instead of being tied to one kind of (expensive) pod or capsule. All in all a great convenience.

Excellent coffee machine – all other complaints should be ignored as this performs exactly as described and apart from a little extra cleaning effort makes great regular coffee with no fuss and no need for intervention on the users behalf apart from loading beans, water and adjusting settings to taste

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI was a little worried when I read some of the more negative reviews, but the positive ones seemed to be glowing, so I took the plunge.

The Cuisinart Grind and Brew Plus is a good looking, well built tall format coffee machine that makes great coffee.

Having read some of the reviews I was uncharacteristically diligent in reading the instruction manual, and once everything was put together properly, and a jug of water run through to clean up and the timer set, I was ready for my first brew.

I found the jug didn’t leak when filling the water reservoir, despite almost having to tip it upside-down to empty it.

for a half fill, I set the machine for 6 cups at medium strength, and hit go. Grinding enough coffee for 6 cups didn’t take long, and it was no noisier than my stand-alone burr grinder. After about 10 minutes and a quick swirl of the jug to mix the contents, I had my first cup of coffee. It was certainly hot enough for me (I stuck a thermometer in the jug as soon as it brewed, and it was 80C), and medium was spot on for strength. 6 cups equates to 3 decent mugs of coffee.

I had my second cup about an hour later, again, I stuck in a thermometer and it had only dropped to 79C, and I didn’t pre warm the jug.

So all in all, a very good machine, relatively easy to clean and produces good coffee. If I had one suggestion for improvement, I wish the clock setting would work when not plugged in, as we tend to switch everything off when not in use, and I have to reset the clock if I want to use program mode.

I also like the flexibility of being able to use pre ground coffee. good for early starts when I don’t want to wake the household up, and there are a few blends of coffee I like that are difficult to get in bean form.

    Brews perfect coffee!!

Indeed it can become pretty hard to pour the last 2 cups out of the carafe, this is probably because they wanted to achieve a high level of thermal insulation and not increase the overall height of the machine. While it is a bit uncool, I have no issues with turning the carafe all around when pouring the last bits of coffee.

  74. Anonymous says:

Makes lovely coffee and keeps it warm for ages without stewing, so it does the most important job well! Is a bit messy to clean, and the jug can’t go in the dishwasher as the double wall construction is not completely sealed so traps water. A bit of trial and error to get the ratio of coffee to water for the best brew, but this is all individual taste so try it. I replaced a grind and brew and this is better because you don’t have to measure out the beans, the auto feature is good

Took a while to work out the strength of coffee by using different combinations. Tried increasing the amount of water to number of cups, as well as increasing strength from mild to medium. Have found that 6 cups of beans on medium with 8 cups of water is just about right, depending on the type of beans we are using. Grade 3 is fine mid morning, Grade 4 gives more flavour and is ideal after dinner. It is all a question of personal taste and as we use this everyday for our mid-morning pick-me-up, we eventually found a formula that worked. Eight cups equates to four decent sized mugs of coffee and it keeps hot enough for the second cup.We use the automatic facility and once the grinding starts we know it is time for a break.

Some reviewers did comment on the way the jug pours and I have to say that it is a little awkward. I have arthritis in my wrists and this does make pouring a bit of a chore. However, it now does the trick and looks good.

I have just purchased this coffee maker as I like to use coffee beans. The set up and operation are very straight forward but you must read the instructions and follow to the letter (Especially the charcoal filter). I entertain a lot so it is an absolute gem at keeping the coffee hot for a long time. It helps to warm up the inside of the coffee pot before using. I had some coffee left over to the morning and it was still fairly hot (not just lukewarm). It is easy to use to grind the beans or just use with coffee already ground. Needs some small maintenance to make sure the ground beans don’t clog up the grinding area. The overall design is aesthetically pleasing as well as functional. All round a very good buy and value for money.

I bought this unit after staying with friends in LA who had one. We were woken most mornings to the smell of freshly ground cinnamon coffee. I went out and bought one as soon as we got home. On the plus side, the coffee is as good as i’ve tasted from even professional machines, the jug is thermos so keeps the coffee warm for hours rather than being on a hot plate which just stews it.The filter basket & mechanism come apart easily to wash and i’ve now had my unit for 3 years and never needed to replace the filter basket

The only downside is, as others have mentioned, the design of the jug can mean the last cup is not so easy to get out due to a recessed “lip” inside and the coffee chamber does need to be cleaned after every few sessions.. but you should do that anyway with any machine.

The Cuisinart grind and brew is a fantastic machine. Read the instructions carefully before using and you won’t have any problems. A little tip… I always rinse the flask out with very hot water before pressing the start button. This helps to keep the coffee hotter for longer. I also love the Cuisinart overstuffed sandwich toaster which I also give five star rating. The same rating for my Cuisinart food processor. Unfortunately I cannot say the same for the four slice toaster. A complete failure in my view!!!

This machine is awesome. I had a Dualit for 10years before this and when it finally broke tried to get another. They dont make it anymore so had to try a different manufacturer. After much pondering and research, the Cuisinart won the toss. Yes, you have to pamper it once a week with a brush and tidy up (coffee chute) but it is a great piece of equipment. Any issues you read about coffee strength forget. Its the beans you use that determine its strength, (i use strength 6 and set the grinder to 1 or 2 extra than water i.e 5 water, grinder at 6). The rest of the cleaning takes minutes. Great machine, good looking and technical enough for a fella’s enjoyment.

I have tride several coffee makers and in all cases they have achieved very good results but they all fall down in my estimation for one thing or another, such as dificult to programme small openings for filing long processing times and expensive to run. The Cuisinart has been the best of the bunch with good strength selections keeps coffee hot without being switched on and good quantity selections available and easy to use.Try it you will not be dissapointed.

Update: This stopped grinding last week, sounded very dodgy and no beans moving down the grinder. 5 mins investigation and the problem was the grind shoot was blocked with grounds, 1st time that’s happened and the machine is 10 next year! Have given it the 5th star on basis of longevity.

Looks great and makes great coffee, a bit of trial and error is required to find the coffee you prefer but it only took 3 attempts before i had coffee just as a like it. Unfortunately it’s somewhat absurdly let down by a badly designed pot! you have to wonder how they managed to design a bad coffee-pot but somehow they managed it. It’s essentially a flask design, with a trap-door to allow you to pour the coffee and provide a basic air seal, sounds fine but you have to hold the thing almost upside down to get the last cup or so out, which while odd and unneccessary wouldn’t be a major problem except the lid then allows coffee to seep out and drip down the pot/onto your work surface. With a minor change to the pot design this would be a 5 star review as overall it’s a great product. Just a shame such a simple problem spoils it, but I kept it none-the-less.

It only grinds for a v short while so not a problem. Would definitely recommend, beats the cafeteria hands down.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersThe coffee machine is great- the ability to program it, choose the strength of coffee, and choose whether to use beans or ground coffee are all good additions. The grinder is great, and although there is only one grind setting, for this machine you only need one!

The machine itself is well styled and all parts easily accessible. Although it comes with an inbuilt filter I still use paper filters as it saves so much washing up and rinsing between brews afterwards.

    Two things:

    1. The jug needs to be significantly re-designed!!! The pouring action is atrocious unless you actually take the lid off (therefore cooling any coffee left in the jug…) and to get the last dregs out requires a feat of human and civil re-engineering.

    2. It does not keep the heat; about 3 minutes after the coffee has brewed the alarm bleeps and switches off; and at this point your coffee inexorably starts cooling down.

That aside, the coffee it makes is good, quick and efficient. Roll on the next version with the better jug and extended heat time.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI bought this as a replacement, and would recommend it to those who enjoy their coffee freshly ground and brewed and waiting for them in the morning. It makes from 4 to 12 cups which is in effect two to 6 mugs of coffee, it keeps hot for several hours and the last cup is as good as the first. The timer is also excellent when entertaining, programme it for the end of the meal and you don’t have to leave your guests whilst you make the coffee, just pick up the jug and pour.

Although it comes with a charcoal filter which needs to be changed after 90 uses, it does still need to be descaled occasionally.

Golden Review Award: 25 From Our UsersI have to admit that I was a little taken aback when I unpacked this – it’s somewhat larger than I anticipated. Regardless, I forged ahead with setting it up and getting it going.

Setting the time and so forth is easy enough, and getting it ready to make the first brew is straightforward as well – so, what about the coffee?

There are three strength settings: Strong – this makes coffee of the strength known as ‘industrial’ – not quite thick enough to stand a spoon up in, but certainly viscous enough to offer resistance when stirring. After my first cup at this strength, I caught a glimpse of myself in a mirror – I looked like a startled owl. I found myself whizzing around the house like a child who’s eaten blue Smarties (allegedly!).

The Medium setting is the one that Goldilocks would have picked whilst rummaging through the Three Bears’ sock drawers – that one’s ‘just right’.

There’s also a Mild setting – I don’t know why anyone would want to drink ‘mild’ coffee, unless perhaps it’s for somebody of a nervous disposition who, otherwise, would end up bouncing off the walls and ceiling like a superball (remember superballs?).

The carafe is quite impressive – imagine one of those movies where there’s a brawl in an American diner – Darlene, the waitress (pink nylon uniform and a badge saying ‘Hi, my name is Darlene’) grabs the carafe from the coffee machine and smacks the bad guy (probably played by Gary Oldman) across the back of the head with it – tinkling glass and spilt coffee everywhere. Gary shakes his head, pulls out a gun and sends Darlene to the Great Diner in the Sky.

That’s not going to happen with this machine – the carafe’s a great, unbreakable insulated metal thingy. If Darlene wellied you with this, you’d be watching small cartoon birds circle your head and certainly not thinking of pulling your gat and blasting our plucky heroine.

So, in concusion, this is a well-built and sturdy piece of kit that turns out a ‘damn fine cup of coffee’.

Golden Review Award: 42 From Our UsersIn our house there has always been some form of coffee on the go and over the years we have gone through numerous filter coffee machines as we are snobs and do not have instant!!

A few years back we found a ‘Grind and Brew’ machine for sale in a bargain High street store. As it was priced similarly to our usual regular filtered coffee machines we thought we would try it. It was unfortunately of plastic construction and we returned several broken machines before it was dis-continued, much to our dismay. Unknown to me my wife was still looking for one of these machines and when I happened upon this Cuisinart machine on Amazon we decided to give it a go…

We have had the machine for nearly two months now and are both very pleased with it. We have both given it a five out of five rating, despite some initial ‘pouring’ issues with the jug that others have mentioned! (Once you are used to it there really is no trouble and certainly no spillage or waste!)
Although I have labelled us snobs, we do not trouble ourselves with espresso or frothy, milky style coffess – We are both just black coffee freaks. This machine does not do all the different latte type cups tho I am sure with the addition of a seperate frother then these could be achieved!!

A lovely machine. Not too loud on the grind process. Lovely aroma and good, filtered coffee that still leaves no dregs in the cup!! (A first for us over the years!)
Not too much of a faff to clean and so far has withstood constant use! We like that it turns itself off once brewed a pot and the jug then keeps the coffee hot for a good few hours! (Not that we intentionally leave it that long!!)

If you drink a lot of coffee, buy one now!!!

Golden Review Award: 40 From Our UsersThis is an excellent machine at a fantastic price. The machine is simple to set up and produces fantastic tasting coffee. I actually found the carafe to be well designed and – despite having to turn it upside down to get the last few cups – not as tricky to use as some reviews suggest. By the second time you use it, you’ll get the hang of it. The self-sealing mechanism is quite clever. Mine kept a half-jug warm for over six hours in a very cold kitchen; no need to re-heat or use a hotplate. Cleaning is relatively painless too – no worse than a filter machine or cafetiere. I honestly can’t think of a negative thing to say. I’d highly recommend it, and would buy the same unit again without hesitation.

Coffee runs into the pot and is kept warm there – great.

Then you try to pour the coffee and it goes everywhere. Make just 2 cups and it is hard to pour at all, so deep is the inner lip.

It must have been possible to design a working jug…..[coffee is still great though, you just need to make more to cover the loss through pouring over the work surface, cups and saucers]
