    Does the job!
It’s small, unobtrusive and operationally silent (there is a low level hum when it’s charging) and it works.

Had a couple of short power cuts (happens quite regularly) and it kept my desk top fired up and protected my work perfectly.

Perfect - if a bit smelly
Got this for my Synology DS920+ with 4xSeagate Ironwolf 6TB drives which recognises it, reports the available capacity and detects a mains failure (switch to battery) via USB – so mission accomplished, a heck of a lot cheaper than my usual UPS purchases from APC.

The useful information available on the LCD display means it doesn’t really need to have additional software installed to get at the data, as with APC, unless you need to maintain a running log.

But the smell – oh dear, the smell.
Opening the box released a wave of “hot PCB” smell, that too-familiar “burning electronics” pong. Even leaving the UPS sitting overnight didn’t reduce it any.
So I gingerly powered it on: of course works fine, and I could feel no hotspots on the case even after running loaded for a while.

Here we are three weeks later and it’s still working well – the smell has reduced considerably too.
That was a bit of a worry!

Good quality - worked out of the box with my Linux machine
Having used APC for years, I have to admit this was a bit of a leap of faith for me, based mostly on cost.
There’s been all kinds of power work going on locally just lately, so we had some scheduled outages and had to run on a generator a few times.

This UPS sits behind my desktop PC and happily powers it along with a couple of big Dell monitors. The run-time off-power is probably only 20-30 minutes, but that’s not what I wanted it for. With the UPS in-line, I have some protection against voltage fluctuations, brown-outs, etc. and it saved me when I forgot to check the fuel in the generator!

It has a nice, clear LCD screen with the usual useful information, and the ability to mute the alarms when the power is off.

Now we’re fully back on-grid, I’ve left it in place… it’s providing me with a little extra peace-of-mind.

Simple to install, worked out of the box with Linux Mint, and even reports status and battery time in the power monitor.

    Works with QNAP TS-251D
Got this today for my QNAP TS-251D as we have had at least 1 powercut a week over the last month. Unboxed it, plugged it in then plugged in the qnap, then the usb comms cable between both and all is working well – the Qnap reckons it has about an hours runtime via this UPS which is great. Have tested it multiple times now and NAS keeps running. There is no power lead with the UPS but there is a kettle lead extension…the idea seems to be you use your existing desktop/NAS kettle lead to run the UPS and the supplied extension lead to power the computer off the NAS. Also, FYI, when i unboxed the UPS and wiggled it a little there was a rattle from the inside…however, after taking the front panel off this just seems to be down to some free space around the internal battery (2-3mm either side) so nothing to worry about. No issues and seems to be a nice compact unit. The LCD display is also a nice touch as well as it can show remaining battery (time and percent) as well and input/output consumption.

    Economical Protectio
I have bought 3 of these units: one for each of my (two) Synology NASs and one for my main PC. They protect all items – I recently had a spike caused by my double oven and this will provide protection (and save rebuilding costs) in the future

Quality UPS with simple setup and controls
Very happy with this UPS. Very easy to set up, a simple usb connection to my Synology NAS and was recognised with no hassle. Make sure you leave it charging for at lease 8 hours charging before use. Enough power to run my NAS server, modem, router and network switch for 40minutes and the NAS shutdown before the power was fully exhausted.

    Value for money
Easy to use, just plug in and it unlocks the battery – no need to manually plug it in or unplug transport connections. It’s value for money but do note it does not come with a kettle lead mains plug – so if you don’t have a spare you need to buy one separately. Also the software is not great for notifications, it has limited options.

Very nice, reliable, value for money
Smart little UPS. Didplay looks clean and is clear to use and see. Multiple outputs make it easy to connect in to an existing system. Usb worked first time with my QNAP NAS, no fuss. Battery came about 75% charged which was nice.
With 2 NAS, a 16port switch, and a few fans it estimates about 30min runtime.
Tested it once and transition was seamless. Wish I only bought one sooner.

    Works well
This is a nice little UPS, which runs cool and silently in normal mode. I have bought two of them; one for my NAS and the other for my router and modem. They were put to the test recently when my electric cooker’s oven packed up and in the process, tripped the RCD in my consumer unit. I didn’t even immediately realise that the power had gone off, until I noticed the emergency low-voltage lights upstairs had come on. It would be great though if they had added Wi-Fi capability so that advanced monitoring of the units could be done without the need to connect a cable.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersTicks all the main boxes for backup home power for Modems and NAS servers
So what I was looking for was something to talk to my Synology NAS down from full power to a nice sleeping state- and also to power the main home modem/router for longer – a couple of hours.

The nice things about this are that it is plug and play and has an lcd display as well.

The USB connection to the Synology NAS – just works with minimal configuration – so the NAS now powers down gracefully in the event of a power failure after 5 minutes – unlike QNAP and Buffalo – have found Synology very sensitive to power blips – so this prevents me having to spend a lengthy amount of time bringing it back online.

The LTE/Fixed Wireless Modem – is powered by the UPS – and seems to have 4-5 hours of runtime in a power loss situation ( – a standard modem that doesn’t have to power a mast would probably run for much longer)

For the size of the battery – this NAS is still fairly tidy and slots into a 4U slim horizontal space – and also runs fairly quiet.

So overall all fairly happy with this – would have given it 5 stars if it came with a UK Plug and something like this

(So that you can seamlessly plug in whatever you need to)

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersSilent, compact and works well
I have a VP700EILCD unit which is the baby of the range. I bought it for my Terramaster NAS (F2-F221) and they both complement each other very well. I wanted one which was “smart” and could turn off the NAS after a preset time should the power go out. When the 2 units were linked by the supplied USB cable, the NAS picked it up without any fuss. From the control panel of the NAS, I could then set any period from 1sec to hours before shutdown. It was as easy as that.

The unit is virtually silent in operation and the front display is most reassuring. The display comes on at the touch of the ON/OFF button but is not lit in normal operation. When there’s no power outage, the unit stays very cool and just gets on with it. One thing you need to be aware is that the outlet sockets are female IECC13 types similar to those at the ends of kettle leads except these are socketed, so what is needed are male plugs. One can buy a four gang extension with a suitable plug that the end to go into one of the sockets for around 11 online.

All in all, a very well-built and performing unit. Great buy.

    Does what it says.
Bought this to protect my Synology NAS, router and phone hub after a couple of power blips.
Works well so far. Links to the NAS so it can shutdown and restart automatically, although so far that hasn’t been needed.
    Strongly recommend.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersGreat little UPS. Does what it says on the tin.
Update: changed from 2 stars to 5. Original review at bottom.

    Update 2020-09-21

I decided to give the UPS a proper test. I pulled the power at 09:31 and this time communication with the PC was maintained. My PC was automatically shut down at 09:55 when the UPS said it had 5 mins remaining. It seems that battery loss follows a curve: high initial loss, lower later.

So colour me well impressed and I’ll be buying another, maybe more.

If I had to suggest one improvement, it would be at the back. There are two banks of four power outlets, and one bank is only surge-protected. It would be useful if each bank were labelled more clearly. Perhaps a different colour?

    Original review (2020-09-19)

USB link doesn’t seem to work, exaggerated uptime.

I decided to test my new UPS just now, so I unplugged the mains. It started beeping and my PC stayed on. So far so good. But my PC stopped seeing the UPS through the USB link. Not good. Put the power back on, and back it comes. And after being active for only a minute or two it’s now saying that it’s at 84% remaining battery capacity. So I don’t believe it will actually keep my PC going for the half hour it claims.

I’d like to test it to full duration, but with the USB link not working when the mains is off I cannot monitor the UPS.
