Worth it for icefishing.
My decision on this purchase was made after doing some research on what fish finding unit would work best for me. My primary use was for icefishing and secondary use would be using with a canoe. The videos and reviews I found seemed to answer my questions as to, how well it works in comparison to other flashers like a Vexilar. Having owned and used a Vexilar in the past I wanted it to replace that unit and have the versatility to use on open water. My perception of how this unit would compare to a real flasher was that it couldn’t.
Now that I used the Deeper Pro on the ice a few times I can post my experience. The first time I used it I did not mark any fish but was confident that it was that there was none to mark. I had one big fish swim by and it showed up as a long bending arc. I was on about 8-10 inches of ice. The battery lasted all day, about 6 hours of on time, with life to spare. I was able to walk about 30 ft away from the unit before it disconnected. I tried it in a shack next to a Vexilar which made it unusable, there was way too much interference causing vertical lines to appear on the 2D cross section image, among other illegible lines on the flasher side. I had to move a good distance away for there not to be interference, maybe +25ft. This is the only downside to the unit I experienced. After a day of not marking fish, or catching any, the next day I went to a different spot to fish. Now familiar with the unit, it’s options and views, I was able to identify a school of fish in the first drilled ice hole of the day. I sat on that hole all day continuously marking fish and catching them. The deeper pro worked perfectly on marking the fish and depth of fish, I was very satisfied. The fish were suspended mostly from 30-35ft in 40ft of water, and only biting at the top of the band. I fished for 4 hours before my phone battery died, the Deeper was at 30% after continuous use in that time. I did not have my Galaxy 10 in airplane mode as I did the first time use, so this should preserve phone battery life when using this unit and application.
The flasher is nice, works as it should. I had the sensitivity at 60% and that was able to pick up on my small jig head and small lead weight. The side sonar image, the longitudinal one in white works nice for seeing where your jig is when dropping it to depth. My favorite view is the 2D cross section in color. This is definitely an advantage over traditional flashers. The feed updates pretty quick to the phone. At first, when setting the Deeper into the water it sometimes takes a minute to connect and give a good feed. So if you are bouncing hole to hole with it, you have to be patient, so a downside compared to a Vexilar.
Overall the unit worked as it should with good battery life and a nice layout on the application. There is more I plan to do with this unit in open water but it performs well on hard water. I gave it a 4 of 5 stars for two reasons. The fact that is has to connect to a device to use the unit can be cumbersome, there is a good chance that you can fumble your phone and it be destroyed. I see they make a holder for fishing rods but it’s not worth it for me to invest since I icefish primarily and set my phone on a bucket. I thought about using a tablet with some type of case that will allow it to be set to view hands free, maybe next year. The other reason is low battery life. Not that I’m degrading the Deeper unit battery life, but rather the life it seemed to drain from my device connected to it.

It really does work and helps locate the fish!
I was a little sceptical in terms of locating the fish and ease of use. It is actually easy to use and very effective I would not go fishing without it. The ping of when fish are detected gets the pulse soaring and is really great for understanding depth and characteristics of the sea bed. Love it!

So, this thing is useful. You’ve done the research now let me know what you don’t know. They say you can toss this with extremely light fishing like (10 lb I think ?) however due to its weight you’ll bend most medium and under poles, while applying weight on the top eye lid of light line, you’re guaranteed to lose it. To avoid this use 20 on braid on a heavier rod. You’ll more than likely need to carry a second rod to actually fish with and that makes this thing annoying. Overall it’s a good product. Make sure to read the instruction manual so you know when it will work, and when it won’t.

It works! I’m a novice angler, so I can’t speak too much to how well it tracks structure or vegetation (though you CAN see it). But I do know that I t’s put me on fish, and I’ve caught them. I previously purchased an off-brand castable sonar device, and this seems much more accurate and reliable. (For example, the other one would tell me I was on about 5 feet of water, when I could clearly see the bottom and it was two.)
I also like that you can turn the fish icons on and off, so that you can get better at interpreting the sonar returns for yourself. That wasn’t an option on the cheaper, off-brand one that I had.
Great little fish finder I definitely recommend it! Took the guessing game out of sport fishing and got me onto wayyy more fish 👍🏻

Amazing tool to have in your armoury
Such a great aid in my fishing, I fish a very deep quarry with the difference in 6ft to the left or right meaning a difference in depth of 10 to 20 ft! So the contour and depth finding features are invaluable.

Wow what a device really impressed and worth the money. I was sceptical about the price but the features and the app is really good. Connecting to the Deeper is really easy. SWITCH OFF YOUR DATA ON YOUR PHONE!! or else it will not connect.
It connects at a good distance and i went fishing for about 3 hrs and it was great. What i liked about this deeper is the clarity, it shows the the depth, water temp, sea bed layout and size of fish and fish depth. The bigger the fish icon the bigger the fish. I was trawling for a bit and it worked there to. It also has a playback mode which are shown in the photos. It has three outer holes to clip to casting, boat and fishing off a jetty or harbour dock. Charging is easy unscrew the one half and then theirs a rubber flap lift that and that is your charge port. That’s about it looking forward to my next fishing trip next week. Oh there are 2 apps the Deeper and the Fish Deeper. I used the Deeper mostly the Fish Deeper is the latest one will try that next.

We have used this in every body of water that we can. We have put it in our fish tank and it caught all the fish with great accuracy (I have a 150 gallon tank). We have taken it down the rivers as well as at the lake and it an awesome little finder! Very happy with our purchase

Leider nicht ganz gnstig. Aber wer Spa daran hat seine Gewsser zu erkunden, ist das perfekte Gert und mit dem Zubehr noch besser.

Bei kalten Temperaturen ca.5 Grad ist mir persnlich der Akku etwas zu schnell leer, aber fr die gre eines Tennisballs kann man nicht mehr erwarten(mit einer Powerbank ist das Problem schnell gelst). Ansonst bin ich sehr zufrieden, auch wenn ich jetzt mehr aufs Smartphone schaue als auf die Angel da es echt spannend ist zu sehen was sich unter meinem Kajak befindet.
