Really good heate
The paperwork in the box does warn you about that initial smell that occurs when you first switch it on, but after around 30 minutes there was no trace of it as I left the door of the room open. The heater was effective for the hour or so that I have used it so far and Im glad I purchased it. The weather has been reasonably mild since that first time I used it so Ive not needed to use it again since. The heater is very heavy though (18.2kg) so dont try and lift it on your own when getting it out of the box. The wheels on the bottom of the heater make it very easy to move it about.

Heats room quickly
Great heater. I use in a conservatory in winter and heats the room quickly and efficiently. Good controls , easily set up. Sorry I hadn’t thought of a oil filled radiator before now.

I’m really pleased with this heater. It’s made a terracotta tiled draughty Victorian kitchen so much more comfy. This is a superb heater. It’s too heavy to carry upstairs, but wheeling around downstairs is fine. It is the only source of heat in my lounge and although it’s not a huge room, I do have open stairs going to the 1st floor, so the cubic space is larger than the floor area. Easy timer, but also easy to just turn on and off. You can set the temp & power level up high to start and then just turn it down as the room gets warmer. I love it because it works so well, does the job I need it to, and it’s so easy to use. And best of all not very expensive. Thank you De’Longhi.

This radiator is absolutely amazing. I got it as an Amazon Warehouse deal on Black Friday so it’s a huge bargain. Got it “Like New” as only the package was damaged whilst the product itself was immaculate! I was expecting to see some dents or small cosmetic blemishes – none!
As a lot of other reviewers said, this radiator is great looking, super efficient at heating up the room (mine is a large L shaped conservatory approx. 25m2) and keeping its temperature really nicely on minimum or medium setting. It did smell a bit at first use but the smell faded away quickly. It did click a bit when it gets turned on and when it gets turned off but that’s totally natural, isn’t it?! Most of the time it’s so quiet you don’t even realise it is there working.
Overall I’m really impressed by its build quality and functions. And not to forget to mention that it comes with 10 year manufacturer guarantee, even if it’s bought from Amazon Warehouse I.e. not brand new.

Just what I wanted. Three heat levels up to 2.5kW with thermostat control.
Thermostat accurately controls and timer easy to use.
I do not have reported smell problems. There is a very little noise on heating up or cooling which you would expect with a metal casing heating or cooling.

This radiator is great, it heats up quickly, we have it in our kitchen as there’s no heating in there and it makes a big difference to the whole of downstairs. We previously had a couple of Von Haus radiators but they didn’t last long, took longer to heat up and the controls broke so would no longer switch on. Bought this as a replacement and couldn’t have been happier. Definitely recommend if you need a small or even large space heated. We also have one in our office at work which is great and has lasted the distance over previous radiators.

Worth the extra money...
Brilliant. It heats up really quickly and produces a vast amount of heat. Heats up any size room really quickly. Build quality is top notch too. Very glad I paid the extra and bought this.

I read that the thing smells from a lot of reviews. I followed the instructions and after leaving it on max for a few hours in a spare room with the windows open the smell is entirely gone. I’m using it to heat a large sitting room + kitchen and it’s absolutely roasting.
I purchased this after toying with the smaller 500 watt sibling. I find this heats the room 5m x 3.6m well insulated very nicely in a relatively short space of time approx 1 hr. I bought this rather than the similar digital model as I wanted to use it with a smart plug so I can turn it off and on or set timer settings on my phone. I believe the digital option wont do this and is also quite fiddly to set timer. Would I recommend absolutely. The only gripe I have with this heater is that the chrome thermostat button which has the numbers etched on it is nearly impossible to read. I have knocked a star of it for this minor but important issue.

been using this heater to heat my living room! room is approx 11Ft by 16ft ,it easily heats it up on medium setting,as others have said it smells when new ,but mine only gave of an odour the first time I used it ,after that I haven’t noticed a smell.im reall pleased with it.bit more expensive than some but it has a long guarantee which is reassuring.

Good heate
Great heater, brilliant for warming single rooms instead of having the heating on. Warms up quickly , have had to reduce to a lower setting as it was too warm during last winter.
So good that I now have three to heat the entire house as a replacement for storage radiators. Visiting friends were so impressed when they came to stay that they too have purchased these.
Excellent product. I have purchased 3 of these over the past 20 years and they have all lasted in excess of 10 years. They perform as advertised and I leave mine on constantly throughout the winter. The thermostat regulates the room temperature extremely well. The running costs are also very good. Fab.

Its not a huge issue but the power lead is only approx 1m long so you need to keep this in mind when considering where to plug it in. Would definitely recommend.

Very impressed - does what it says , quietly too
Almost silent compared to other heaters. Wheels ( already attached) work well – bought for a specific space so it will not be moved around the house much ( approx 15kg weight as oil filled) so not a problem.

Brilliant old fashioned knobs - not digital
This is brilliant. Very easy for my elderly mother to set up as there’s nothing digital on it…. just plain old good fashioned buttons! This is the second one I have got her.
We use it as back up to CH in a very large room on the coldest nights. We keep it on a low thermostat setting. It is very effective and gives out constant heat. Also looks very nice. The cord is very short though and you advised not to use a normal extension lead.

Very pleased with this portable heater, it warms my treatment room which it does very nicely! I don’t ever need to put it on maximum as the thermostat ensures that temperature is maintained – Just as long as I remember to switch it on 30/45mins mins before need to use the room!

This is the second Delonghi we have purchase the older one is still going strong we wanted to upgrade too this one and it’s brilliant.

These really are fantastic heaters…I have two of them which I use in a very old draughty and cold Georgian house with large rooms, and I have found them to be absolutely brilliant. I have had them for a couple of years and use them all the time through the winter. The first one I purchased from somewhere else, and the second, more recent one from Amazon directly (… Just in case as Amazon collect for free if there is a problem which makes returns easier than if purchasing through some other sellers!). They are both absolutely silent after a couple of minutes once warmed up when in use, and they only click for a short time after being turned off whilst they cool down – again only for a couple of minutes. They do not ever smell of anything…( They only smelt a little bit for first couple of hours when new ). I regularly check that the plugs are not hot due to them being such large powerful heaters and the electrics being old in the house and am pleased to report that the plugs have never become hot. I have waited until now to do the review so I could test them fairly well over a decent amount of time; and can not fault either of them (although I do think that the cable could do with being longer in length…probably twice as long would be about right.) They are so efficient at heating large rooms probably due to the vent action – it quite surprised me how good they are. Apart from doing their job so well, I have to say that they are particularly good looking as well compared to most other heaters. The very long warranty on this particular model is reassuring as well. Fully deserving of the 5 star rating I would say.

Great radiator! It heats our large room brilliantly and the timer is easy to use. It does clink a bit when it first comes on but once it’s heated up it’s quiet. Definitely worth the price. Best oil filled radiator we’ve bought and would definitely get another one.
This is superb. I hate my underfloor heating as it takes so long to get up to temperature in the lounge. With this, its now superfluous and more importantly looking at my energy meter cheaper to run!
First two weeks there was an “industrial smell” but now that’s dissipated altogether.
This heater is so powerful! It heats up a HUGE ROOM with 5 (6′) Victorian windows. The heat is distributed evenly around the room as temperature rises quickly.
My heater has a timer too which is very handy. The only drawback is the creaky loud noises it makes but that takes half a star.
It does NOT compare to fan heaters or to convection ones.
The Dragon IV (newest version) is one bad boy . If you like a melting stuffy hot room then this ain’t for you. If you like the pleasant even 15-20 atmosphere that holds steady all night in the freezing winter, then you need the Dragon IV by your side.

I read many reviews including negative as well as positive reviews before deciding to buy this heater. Stories of the heater stinking, creaking and groaning, loud timer ticking, fiddly switch to change from manual operation to timer, over sensitive thermostat control, manual and not electronic timer, short mains lead being a problem as you are not supposed to use this with an extension cable.
Sounds bad I know, but before you decide, let me tell you of my experience.
Some reviewers had complained of damage to packaging and the heater itself on delivery. Mine arrived on time and in perfect condition. I immediately set in up near the open conservatory doors to run it for a minimum of two hours on highest setting as per instructions to burn off the “new” smell. I actually ran it for three hours. It did smell a bit during this procedure. Because of the short power lead, I had to use an extension lead to do this. Now the manufacturers have put a warning NOT to use an extension lead. No need to worry if you have the right extension. If you buy a generic one at a supermarket or DIY store for a few pounds, these are often (not always) rated at about 10.5 amps. The 2.5kw current draw on this heater is about 10.5 amps. A bit too near the limit for my liking. Simple answer is, buy an extension you know is rated at a genuine 13 amps. So I bought this one https://www.amazon.co.uk/Masterplug-EXS1342B-4-Gang-Permaplug-Extension/dp/B0083GLO0I/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1514650084&sr=8-2&keywords=2m+heavy+duty+extension+lead OK it’s a tad more expensive than a generic supermarket ones, but well worth the little extra to get the flexibility. It is wired using 1.25mm cable so no problem on current draw. When the heater is plugged in to this extension along with my TV, sound bar and lamp the total current draw is approximately 2.7kw, I left everything switched on (heater on full) for three hours, heater lead was cool, extension lead was cool, heater and extension lead plugs were cool. So, there is no problem using an extension lead if it is the right one for the job.
As for the heater itself, well after burning off the new smell, I have found it heats the room I wanted to heat fantastically. No bad smells, no creaking or groaning, no loud timer clicking, (I THINK I heard it when I turned the TV off and sat in silence, not sure though)
The switch to turn from manual to timer operation is small, but easy to operate. The thermostat itself is a tad sensitive, the lights to show it is heating do cycle on and off quite regularly, but that is the thermostats purpose, to maintain a constant temperature, just ignore it once you have got the room to your desired temperature. The thermostat is calibrated from zero to six, I set it at just below two and it heats my small 3.3m x 3m den perfectly.
As for the manual timer, I think this is an advantage over an electronic one. An electronic one will have a tiny PCB and LCD, both mounted on to something designed to throw out a lot of heat. This amount of heating and cooling could POSSIBLY cause premature failure of an electronic timer. The manual timer should be more robust.
There have been quite a few negative reviews about this particular heater, I am not saying that people have not experienced some problems, but I think there was some pickiness going on there, especially relation to the manual/timer switch.
This was bought to replace a cheap heater from a Chinese brand, the difference is like night and day, or lukewarm and hot.
All in all, this is a fantastic heater and I would recommend it to everyone that needs such a heater.

I was looking for a good quality heater for my clinic waiting room and came across this big brand. Some reviewers mentioned the smell, but I decided to give it a try. It did smell a bit in the first few hours but then the smell disappeared. It is so efficient and the room was heated up more quickly than I expected. Great product!
If your house gets cold on some winter nights this is a must have product. We have a tiled floor in a large room (c. 8m x 4m) – with only one radiator it tends to get a bit cold in the winter. Stick this on for an hour and the whole place is toasty and stays toasty. Brilliant radiator.
Stylish warmth
I bought this in the middle of winter to heat up a rather large conservatory (7 metres by 4), and it does the job perfectly. Within less than half an hour it’s up to a comfortable temperature, and the thermostat allows you to keep it there. And it doesn’t seem to have made any obvious difference to my electricity costs.
Good price....shame it was damaged
Good price but unfortunately it was damaged in the box. The radiator has small dents on both sides. We have kept it though as it’s more hassle than its worth to send back. It works well and throws out a lot of heat. We are using it in a log cabin in the garden. It makes it feel nice and cosy.

A well-built radiator, with an attractive white stove enamel finish, that ticks on and off accurately according to the temperature or time settings. Some have mentioned the clicking you hear occasionally, but that’s just the expansion and contraction of solid metal components – doesn’t bother me one bit and anyway it reminds you it’s there and working properly. I thought it was quite expensive when I ordered it, but am persuaded it was worth it. Some heaters are tinny and cheap. Not this one.

Generates a huge volume of heat. Took a few days for the oily smell to pass but it was worth it for the performance. Using in a large double bedroom in a poorly insulated Victorian semi in Scotland, in a room with no double glazing. A couple of hours on is enough to get the room toasty and keep the edge off for up to 4 hrs.
Brilliant heater in terms of warmth generated. HOWEVER they recommend not using an extenstion cord and then put on a very short cord limiting room options!
I bought one to heat my study, then bought a second one for my lounge and now I’ve just bought another two. One to go with the other one in my lounge and for the hall / bathroom. I use these instead of my central heating system. They’re the best heaters. Half an hour and my lounge is lovely and warm. The timers are great as well easy to use and the amount of heat they give off is impressive. Great heaters I love them.

You have three settings each with a gradient of 1 – 6. It is only october but we’ve only had it on low on 1-2 gradient and end up turning it down. Excellent product worth paying a bit more for. Looks fab

A wonderful little radiator that produces plenty of heat AND with a heat sensor that actually works. I had a problem with cheaper models not sending the heat properly causing you to turn it off when too hot and back on when too cold. This radiator works properly. No more waking up freezing cold to turn the radiator on.
Instruction pamphlet warns that radiator needs to be operated at full power for two hours in a ventilated room to burn off the “new” smell (presumably residual oil, volatile elements from paintwork etc). After well over two hours operation the smell is still strongly evident and very unpleasant. In all other respects (appearance, operability, efficiency) the equipment is perfectly acceptable. I have several other (older) Delonghi oil-filled radiators which did not exhibit this problem, so either I have a rogue or it is a problem with the latest models.
Heats like a dream. We’ve had it for over a year and still love it. We live in the eaves of a detached Edwardian house in London which is COLD. This little guy heats up a very large (16 x 18) room like a dream, and can also be wheeled from room to room easily.

Ordered in time for Christmas and item was delivered one day earlier than expected. Keeps my large conservatory toasty and warm. Timer is welcome as it is set for early morning and afternoon start up. Heater stays warm for some time once turned off. new ‘smell’ is starting to ease off after 3 days use. Very pleased overall.
I have a static-van in North Wales. This time of year its freezing this heater works great it warms up fast, warms a room 12ft x 18ft,easy.
The only down side to this heater is the power cord is not long about 4ft approx, YOU CANNOT USE A CABLE EXTENSION
( Not sure about the electric bill, electrical heaters usually eat the power)
But its made a cold van warm and cosy.

great heat off this in a small living room 11 ft by 11 ft, timer is easy to set, it recommends not using an extension lead, but i had too, worked fine, just need to see if it runs up a big electric bill, but from what i could see the meter hardly moved, so yes, very pleased, would buy another, i’ll make final judgement after winter and when i see the winter heating bill.
Excellent heater, heats my entire 1 bed roomed house from the ground floor up. I have purchased 3 cheap and cheerful oil filled heaters in the last 2 winters and none have been particularly great, one even leaked after one winters use! I had to have one up and one down, on almost constantly in the evenings, to keep the whole house toasty warm.
I spent almost exactly the same amount buying just this one heater and it does the whole house. Clearly we are not in the coldest period just yet but I’ve only had to use this on setting 1 so far thus giving me 2kw and 2.5kw to move up to as the weather turns. I could not be any happier so far with this heater.
Great heater, very heavy so this stays downstairs, but it completely heats up my through lounge and the hallway if you leave the doors open it radiates the stairway too. Great timer too although haven’t had the need to use and thermostat works wonders and keeping the temperature constant. Can’t fault as always buy Delonghi previous one which was a 2kw lasted 10+yrs.

This is an excellent heater, with a powerful output. The only downside is the electric cable is a bit short, but easily remedied with an extension cable. Sadly delivery time was delayed quite considerably by Yodel, so Amazon may wish to consider using another carrier.
Excellent heater with easy to use timer. My only niggle is the heat strength numbering on the chrome dial, it is difficult to see in artificial light. But once you have set it and live with it for a few days it is good. A longer wire would be useful.
Fantastic heater, I recently upgraded to this newer model and I can really see the difference. It heats our living room up (4m x 8m) so quickly and I need to turn it down to a lower setting which seems to maintain the temperature quite well.
I can’t recommend Delonghi heaters enough, reliable and easy to use with a 10 year warranty.
Super heater; not too large, especially considering the heat output. Timer function is great as is the variable heat output. Looks good too. On the lowest setting it gives great background heat to my very large bedroom in a stone house where there is no formal central heating installed. Very pleased. Amazon UK was the cheapest place I could find these heaters (I could not find the Dragon 4 anywhere in France) and even including the p&p, it was cheaper than buying the previous version in France.
bought for conservatory….on for an hour and heats the room very well indeed!!! its a big conservatory so would be ideal for a bedroom or loft conversion…..a very good buy.
