I love this machine! First venture into the Bean2Cup machines and wish I had done it earlier. Its just so easy to make great coffee everytime. Only feature I would like is to plumb it into a water supply, but git into routine of filling up water, empty tray and grounds at night to avoid the morning stress.
After couple of years with Melitta Varianza CSP which was a nightmare (see my review on its page) it eventually broke completely and I was faced with decision which bean to cup machine to buy as a replacement. I always considered Delonghi as a budget brand (in comparison to germans – Jura/Krupps, Melitta etc) and how wrong I was.
This machine not only makes better coffee, it requires less maintenance and is so much more ergonomic in comparison to Melitta. No water? No problem – tank just slides forward on the side whereas in Melitta (and many others by the looks of it) it was at the back and had to be lifted up which on the worktop under wall cabinets was always a challenge.
I’m converted to the brand and hopefully this machine will serve us well for a number of years.
I’m glad I spent a bit more than originally planned when looking for a Bean to Cup.
I read reviews saying it’s hard to setup and it’s not hot enough but I disagree. It was fairly self explanatory to setup as is the digital menu. The coffee is hot and you can adjust it up or down to suit your liking. You can also change the coffee strength and volumes to suit your taste and cup sizes. Water tank is a fair size, the front loading makes life easier too as this machine is on a worktop underneath wall units. The Cup warming plate is another good feature But you need to set the auto on timer if you want warm cups in the morning. I use the same Lavazza beans I use in my machine at my office (which was almost twice the price!) and I find the result even better with this DeLonghi!

I was slightly worried about reviews saying the coffee was not hot enough. This is definitely not a real issue. It is plenty hot enough. I did increase the default temp by one click but am completely happy on that front. I like the ability to customise each drink. After a bit of practice I find it easy to use and like what it turns out.
Everything about this machine is amazing bar a couple of things which I’ve not been able to rectify myself – these may be user error but I don’t think so. Dont let the below stop you from buying, it is a top quality machine.
Firstly, the bean container doesn’t tell when it needs to be refilled, but will still attempt to make a coffee even if empty or almost empty. Its not the end of the world but means you have to throw out a coffee once in 50 maybe.
Secondly, the drip tray being full doesn’t trigger a notification to empty the drip tray – I’ve had this a few months now and it has never told me when to empty – more often than not it ends up overflowing and moving it to the sink while full inevitably leads to water all over the floor. The fix is just to empty it more frequently but its not something I think about and I feel a machine of this caliber should give fair warning. Everything else about this machine is perfect, it makes a flawless cup every single time – needs to be descaled about once per month, and filter change (hard water area) about once every 2 months.
Our old delonghi bean to cup died after 4 and a half years of heavy use so it was time for an upgrade. This is superb perfect choice of bean strength a great selection of coffees and I no longer have to mess about failing at frothing my milk. One thing I didn’t realise is this brews a perfect cup of tea with the hot water tea tap so for my wife that was an absolute winner as the tap comes out at the core edge speed to brew a proper cuppa. All in all very happy and something that is defo worth the purchase in these strange times of working from home. Top work delinghi.

It would be 5 stars if milk was hot. I need to microwave it to get it to the level I like. My previous 80 quid machine from lidl with auto frothing could manage just fine. Why this cannot?
Coffee tastes great. Easy to clean and use.
I would like more adjustment of the pre sets. You can change the amount of coffee poured but if you choose more it just makes it watery. I can’t see how you can change the strength or length of the pre set coffees (Is Cappacino or Flat White).
Additionally it always produces milk first when creating the presets. But a flat white should have milk added to coffee.
Overall happy. You get more personalisation from more expensive machines but it is the main downside of this one.

Hello! My coffemachine doesn’t work as there is a general alarm whole the time after starting. The only result I have got after restarting it for 5 times was a cap of usual coffee without any chance to use any other functions. When I tried to use stream etc. there was a preparation underway on the machine and after that there was nothing happaning. The only function that works is though hot water. Best wishes, Thomas.
Would be 5 star of it didnt have to fill the tank so regular. The machine cleans itself when turning on and off using a fair bit of water. Apart from this it’s perfect.
Easy set up and use.
Lots of options for coffee strength and length. Also can make two cups at a time. The timer is a usefull feature so it’s on warm and primed ready to make a cup of coffee
O absolutely love this coffee machine. It looks amazing on my kitchen counted, it allows you to customise your drinks to the size an amount of milk and coffee you desire.
It tells you whenever you need to fill up the tank, empty the coffee container and it self cleanse every time you use it.
The only downside is the instructions are so long and you really need to read them all in order to make the most out of it.
Other than that, best purchase ever!!!!

I have debated over purchasing a coffee machine for about 5 months. After a fair bit of research intent with this one as all the features it offers are on par with machines in the 1000 pound price bracket.
Glad I did as it’s the best thing I’ve bought in ages.
I’m still yet to work out all the options but generally choose a strong latte. I press the button again once it’s done one serving as it’s not as large as I want but this is achievable if you play with the settings which I haven’t bothered too yet.
I did adjust the temperature though for a hotter coffee.
I’d recommend buying the Sunday easy roast beans with this as they make excellent lattes and cappuccinos.
The automatic milk frother is excellent and you put it straight in the fridge if there’s milk left in it.
All in all an excellent machine that is on par with the coffees I used to buy from Pret or Costa.
I have had a smaller manual DeLonghi coffee machine for some time and decided to upgrade to this bean to cup model. It is fantastic machine and I am really pleased I made this purchase. I like the position of the water container, which is removed from the front of the machine; this avoids having to reach to the back of the machine to replenish it. I also like the ‘My coffee’ preset, which allows you to set various options, including the exact amount of water dispensed, so you can quickly get your customised coffee every time you switch the machine on, without having to press loads of buttons.
Go one buy one. You know you want to!
This was purchased as a replacement for a De’Longhi EC860 ‘pump expresso’ machine.
Comparison:
Pro’s
This machine is much cleaner and more convenient being a full beans-to-cup model
Clear, simple menu for operation
Alerts for water level, beans, grounds bin. I used to get concerned at the old machine running a dry pump when water ran out
Stylish modern clean looks
Good coffee when you have set it up for personal taste
Cons :
It’s large.
Compulsory Automatic rinsing at switch on / off is a bit of a pain, unless you want to clean drip tray frequently you need a container under the dispenser
It’s a bit slow from start to finish
It doesn’t make as good coffee as the old machine and uses more of it per cup. I think our usage has risen about 30%.
Conclusion
I miss the coffee quality of the old machine, but tbh there’s not much in it. The cleanliness and convenience of this machine outweigh any negatives. Just hope it lasts as many cycles as the old one

The only negative is the temperature of the milk when frothed. Could be slightly hotter although the coffee in its own is the right temperature as coffee should not be blended with boiling water but hotter milk would keep the whole drink at a perfect temperature.
Got it as my mum’s christmas gift and she’s over the moon with it – kept asking everyone if they’d like a coffee, and already made herself some in her fancy travel mug I got her not long ago to take for a drive 🙂 It’s easy to use, easy to clean, bought filters and a cleaner when ordering and had no problem figuring it out. Definitely recommend!
Excellent automatic coffee maker with custom function to measure your coffee (flat white/latte/cappuccino) to exactly how you want it.
Everyone has their own taste on what constitutes a perfect coffee, this machine allows you to customise it how you want it. Whilst it won’t beat an excellent barrista with an industry level machine, you would be hard to find a better home latte machine at this price.
Very easy to clean with automated function.
I bought this product back in August 2019, and thought I’d leave reviewing it until we’d had it for a while. Buying a coffee machine can be daunting, I spent some time pondering wether this would be worth the money but I am most definitely not disappointed. I wanted an attached milk frother and simple to use machine. This delivers on every level. You can use beans or pre-ground coffee, set the strength easily, set your own special coffee and have it at just a push of a button, it does everything. (Latte, cappucino, espresso, long coffee, machiato, hot chocolate, flat white e.t.c) The tank is a good size, as is the bean/coffee dispenser. It’s easy to clean and has saved us money on going out to get takeaway coffee. We use it a lot and haven’t had problems with it. Just remember to read the instructions, spend a little time setting it up and it’ll pay off. Great but…not cheap, but worth it for the quality.
We got a bit confused at the beginning with all the rinsing and cleaning this machine does. Don’t get me wrong it’s great, but the manual could do with a complete rewrite.
Ultimately though, the ease with which one presses a button and gets a marvellous cup of coffee is amazing. I’ve had flawless cappuccinos and lattes and am a pretty happy customer.
Tips for others:
– even with low fat milk, a bit of cream will get stuck in the milk carafe pipe and upper mechanism. A gentle dunk in warm water usually sorts this out (never any detergent!).
– if you find steam instead of milk froth coming out of the carafe insert the steam spout and draw a cup of hot water. This usually sorts out the air block.
Only been using for about 10 days, but pretty happy so far.
I like the automation; it doesn’t increase your Barista skills but it does make a wonderful Latte. Keeps you on the ball with cleaning and maintenance and makes of lot of money for De Longhi with filter replacements and cleaning fluid. Whatever negatives; they are all cancelled out by a wonderful end product. I use much more coffee now because I’ve now given up instant and the wife drinks more because she can have an extra mild standard instead of my long and strong. If you’re flush it’s well worth it.
The main reason for writing this review is to outline a recurrent issue I’ve had. I have owned the coffee machine for one week under two years so still under warranty. It has just today been returned to Delonghi for the third time with an identical fault. What happens each time is that the frother refuses to work after making just one coffee, after that no milk just steam. Delonghi say it’s the main control board which has already been changed twice and looks like it’s going to be changed again. That’s pretty unsatisfactory. I can understand one board failing but three suggests there is an inherent design issue. This isn’t too bad just inconvenient whilst under warranty but will be very annoying if it keeps happening when out of warranty although I’m hopeful delonghi see there’s an issue here and take remedial action.
Other than that love the coffee. I only use decaf Lavazza ground coffee although my daughter uses beens. Always add the milk separately. Seems to need descaling quite regularly (about every 2 or 3 weeks). Tend to warm my mug up with boiling water and the milk jug. This ensures the hottest coffee possible.
If it wasn’t for the technical problems would be straight 5 stars.
24 November 2019. Further to the above review I’m very pleased to report that Delonghi have actually replaced my machine with a brand new machine with a fresh 2 year guarantee. One couldn’t have asked for a better service than that. I have increased the rating to 4 stars from 3, still having to knock off one star because of the problems with machine one. Hopefully machine two won’t have similar issues.
hat’s The box in which the coffee machine arrived in was damaged, box looked it was thrown around in the back of the delivery truck. some of the printed lines on the panel comes off, when you pull the plastic off. Very poor design considering the machine full price cost almost 1k .kept the packaging Incase I need to return the product . Makes a great cup of coffee.
This machine is stunning in the way it produces a coffee Just as good, if not better than from a coffee shop. I adore this machine and hope it lasts forever & ever.
I’m struggling to see how some reviews on the net regard this as a good entry level machine, I’m no expert but I think it deserves better than to be regarded as entry level. Maybe I’m being naive or perhaps the reviews are by coffee snobs? Who knows.
It’s a win win for me anyway.
I used to think I was happy using pods in my lavazza machine but how wrong was I,this machine using coffee beans is a whole different taste.Easy machine to use, loads of different coffees to choose from and automatically cleans itself before and after every time the machines used.Cant speak highly enough about this machine and the seller.Highly recommend,no more Costa fortunes coffees for me this machine makes better lattes and cappuccinos. Delighted buyer!!
Makes an awesome cupa!! Only minor issue is the cup size is not big enough. You can configure a long cup to be about the right size for a UK mug but milk based drinks fall short as you cannot make a LONG Cappuccino.
Very pleased with this machine. It is simple to use and makes a really good cup of coffee. Plenty of options for different types, strengths and lengths of coffee.
The hot water option makes it ideal for a cup of tea too. The temperature of the coffee is also plenty hot enough, so often a problem with these machines. It really does not take very long to heat up ready to brew.
The milk container being easy to detach and store in the fridge makes life so much easier.
It is quiet enough, though you can certainly hear it when grinding.
If the coffee is not to your liking, you can even customise the milk to coffee ratio, and store it for your convenience.
And top it all off, it looks pretty stylish too.

Having owned a De’longhi bean to cup before, setting up the machine was quite easy. Strong black coffee is excellent as is my wife’s flat white. It is also quite easy to keep the drip tray and grounds container clean. As my old machine was a ESAM5500 with no touch controls i fine the contols on this machine a bit sensitive.
If you are concerned about reliability of De’longhi, my old machine was faultless at 6 years of regular use and had to be serviced after then.. I would say that the De’longhi service for bean to cup is excellent.
This is really a very good machine and highly recommended
So impressed with this machine, we’ve actually been through 2 other machines from other brands but returned them as the taste of the coffee was not what we wanted but this machine makes the most amazing coffee which is impossible not to like. Of course you have to play around with it but once you know how to use it properly it’s just faultless. I make cappuccinos, iced lattes, macchiato or just plane Americano and all taste great!
Only thing is that if you used skimmed milk coffee is not as nice as semi-skimmed or full fat but I guess skimmed milk tastes bad in everything!
In summary it’s just a 5* machine.

Bought this as a wedding present for our daughter. As we have had a Delongi Magnifica for several years now this prompted me to chose this model. Daughter and son-in-law were absolutely delighted with it and have drank so much coffee ever since receiving it. One thing I did notice was that you can use pre-ground coffee in it, so if you were to run out of beans you can still have a cup of coffee with the machine if you have a spare bag of ground coffee in the cupboard.
Daughter was especially struck by it’s smart, good looks and was delighted that it was simple to use and clean after.
A good all round machine. Water container could have been bigger and grounds container may signify taking out grounds but still room available. Think it’s how the sensor or the way the circular grounds build up. It delivers on the important functions.
Have been using this for a long time: excellent quality, works perfectly, easy to clean, easy to use.
My advice would be this: If you want tasty coffee, you have to buy fresh coffee beans. I had no idea how important it is , but I have been using big packages of lavazza coffee beans and it is not as good as fresh coffee beans. So do not blame machine until you have good coffee beans. In my case, when I started using this machine the coffee was tastier at the beginning even though it says that at first coffee won’t taste as good as later…
I would highly recommend this machine!
We have used Nespresso machines for a long time now, and felt that it was either time to upgrade to the latest Nespresso pod machine, or go full hog and get a bean to cup machine. The best Nespresso machines we ever had were Delonghi, hence why we went for this one, that and the fact that it was more or less half price. It is easy to use, creates an excellent coffee and can make Cappuccino’s etc if that is your thing. All round brilliant, but it is somewhat bigger that the Nespresso equivalent.
We have been using this machine for around a week now and absolutely love it. It’s so simple to use! The coffees are smaller than we’re used to, so we’ve had to experiment with volume and strength to get the perfect cup. Be warned though, you’ll likely go through a lot more coffee than before because it’s so much simpler than a pod machine or filter coffee! I love how the water reservoir pulls out via the front of the unit, so you don’t have to move it to get it out. And the side is clear so you can see how much water you’ve got in there provided there’s nothing on your bench obstructing your view. We haven’t actually bothered using the milk frother yet, but have used the hot water out of the dispenser, and it was acceptable. Bit slow to come out but still loads quicker than boiling a kettle. Overall, my husband says this is the best gift he’s ever had. We’re really pleased with it!
Bought this for an office of 11 people in June 2018. It’s made 6522 coffees since then – a little over a year – which equates to around 25 a day. We’ve followed the machine’s schedule for descaling and replacement filters, and it’s never gone even slightly wrong.
Doesn’t exactly rival a proper espresso machine (coming from someone who used to run a cafe, bear in mind) but better than a french press in a professional setting – a lot less time lost with staff doing the coffee round. And running a plumbed in espresso machine in a small busy office is unrealistic.
Highly recommended for a similar use case. Five star rating reflects this; incomparable to higher end machines.
Just received this coffee maker an hour ago, but enjoyed the coffee it produces so much had to write about it.
1…First things first, I’m a coffee addict, 10 to 12 large mugs a day. I like it strong & hot, both Blk & white.
2…Usually using a French press or instant, often both. I would drink an instant while waiting for the coffee in the French press to steep.
3…I used Extra Special, ESPRESSO coffee beans from Asda, and left the machine on preset for an short, strong coffee.
4…The coffee was gorgeous, however I’ve since set the temperature a little higher which is really easy to do.
5….I’m very happy and glad I bought this.
Great machine. Easy to use. We’re have it in our office proving 30-40 coffees per day. Good options in size and strength of coffee. Easy to refill water and brands. We don’t use the milk frother much – it does need cleaning each time. Takes a couple of minutes to flush and clean the nozzle.
I have purchased two of Delonghi 45.760W (the one with Flat white button) for my brother and cousin.
My brother is very pleased with it, it makes a veriety of a good coffee and coffee-milk choises. It’s stylish, easy to clean.
It’s also a bit big machine so if you have a limited space I suggest you check the size before ordering it.
I’m personally waiting for an amazon offer to purchase one for myself.
I hope you find this helpful
I got in a heap of trouble buying this machine because my partner hates coffee !! but it was certainly worth it.
The machine looks great and more importantly works great as well. Set up was easy and after trying a few different combinations you soon find your favorite settings and quickly learn to adapt them for your friends preferences. The machine is great at informing you when it needs water or when the grounds box is full etc.
You can set the PH setting based on your water hardness and the machine tells you when it needs descaling. The descale process is semi automatic and very easy (you don’t have to stand over the machine waiting).
There are three different milk settings, hot milk for flat whites, light froth for lattes and a thicker froth for cappuccinos.
It delivers one shot or two shots at the touch of a button along with hot water or hot milk and it makes cappuccinos, flat whites, lattes and latte macchiatos automatically.
I have had the machine for six months and love it.

I’ve only had this for a few weeks but so far couldn’t be more happy. Very simple to operate though I only use a couple of settings I’m guessing this is the same for most people. The water tank is very simple to use and it warns you when close to empty. Likewise it tells you to empty the coffee grounds. The indicator to empty the water tray is a float and a bit too discreet so you need to keep an eye on it.
It grinds the coffee well. Not sure in practice how long the teeth on the grinder stay sharp but hoping it will be before the end of the life of the machine. It comes with a filter for the tank which doesn’t seem to be a very good fit in the recess provided so I’m hoping that is as intended as I’m loathe to apply too much force.
Compared to my old setup it’s super quiet and quick so no complaints from others about the noise. It rinses before and after use which is good but does of course add to the water consumption.
All in all a really excellent machine for the money. I pad about 350
Very simple to use
I didn’t configure and mycoffee settings.
I just use 2 cup extra strong and all good.
Touch screen is easy. Like any gadget these days just spend 20 mins reading manual and it’s dead easy to use.
Have been using for a few months and so far no issues. I’d definitely buy this model again.
I havent cleaned yet but in general parts are easy to pull apart such as drip tray and ground catcher. Touch panel stays clean. We leave a cup under the nozzles so when it does the on and off rinse cycles, we dont fill the drip tray.
Coffee tastes great. We only drink black and coffee hasn’t been bitter or tasteless. The choice of Beans obviously help with this equation but I just bought beans off Amazon based on reviews of others.
Simple and saves using plastic pods or buying plastic coffee cups.

Don’t get me wrong, this machine is great. The only issue is that a latte is not quite hot enough for me. But it’s easy to pop the mug in the microwave for 20 seconds to get it to the right temp for me.
Compared to our previous machine (also a De’Longhi which we’d had for over 5 years) it’s so easy to make a lovely coffee as the milk is frothed for you, whereas I used to have to stand at the machine with a metal jug and manually frothing the milk for a couple of minutes.
Hoping reliability will be as good as our last De’Longhi which didn’t miss a beat whilst we had it.
Another slight issue is that the touch sensitive buttons are extremely sensitive, so just a slight brush of the panel whilst inserting the milk container or adjusting the height of the coffee spout can set the machine off doing something. Press any other button and it stops straight away though. I’m now used to that so I’m extra careful where I put my hands…..
It’s a bit complicated to use initially, but once you get the hang of it and programmed the machine for your chosen mug volumes it’s a doddle, literally one button press and less than a minute later a lovely latte.
In summary it’s a 9/10 for me, with the temperature dropping it down from an easy 10/10
I absolutely love this machine. We wanted an automatic bean to cup machine after several years of having a nespresso that was ok, but never really lived up to cafe standard coffee. I did a lot of research and settled on this one as it had good reviews and can be used to make a range of different coffees.
The initial set up was easy enough. I changed the temperature straight away and have found all of the coffees to be perfect temperature-wise. I do always warm the cup with some hot water first and we have the double walled thermo glasses so i don’t know if that makes a difference.
The machine is so easy to use and the coffee is superb (we are using very expensive coffee beans from a small local producer). With a bit of tweaking strength wise we are enjoying cafe standard cappuccinos, lattes, americanos and flat whites (as others have said not really a true flat white, but a very nice latte type coffee). I’m so pleased that we bought this machine.
It is very good and I am so happy. the only one thing I do not like it on this machine. It takes a lot of time to be sure it clean 100 %. It is easy to clean but you need to repeat it many times. I talk about rinsing and you can watch it on youtube to see how to clean, It is very easy but you need to do it, again and again, to be sure it clea
We bought this machine when it was on offer so it didn’t break the bank. It was a doddle to set up as the machine menus are very intuitive. We get a great cup of coffee every time and have tried all sorts of bean in the time we’ve had the machine with each one giveing great results. The steam wand works a treat so we get good and hot lattes and cappuccinos.
We have two minor niggles that are with mentioning. As other reviewers have said, it’s a pity about the quality of the metal drip tray cover which scratches at the slightest touch. Quite poor for a machine that is so good in all other respects. The second one being the grinder control. I was expecting a definite click whilst adjusting the grind but have found the settings a bit wishy washy so not really sure if it’s working or not. Have said that these niggles don’t detract from the fact that this is a really good machine
This machine makes really good coffee. Not quite up to commercial machine standards but still excellent. I’ve never had a bean to cup machine before and I struggled a bit with the instructions but once mastered its’ easy to use.. My advice would be to go online and watch a couple of videos and then enjoy.

This machine makes coffee that’s lot better than any coffee I’ve ever had from capsules, regardless of brand. Grinding the beans leaves a very nice aroma in the air.
After the initial investment it’s lot cheaper than capsules too, I’ve done the math and 1 year will be enough to pay for this machine in my case.
It’s easy to use, many options for the size and strength, easy to refill with water and coffee beans.
It does seem to spend a fair amount of water to do the auto cleaning when it’s turned on or off.
And did I mention the smell of freshly grind coffee beans?
I’ve been looking for a ‘proper’ coffee machine for ages. Years ago I had a small instant coffee machine and it did the job but was so fiddly to use and clean. Changing filters and cleaning all the tubes and bits was a nightmare and for the time it took to make a coffee and clean after I ended up just using instant coffee. After years of deliberation I made the plunge and started to look for a real coffee maker.
I am not exaggerating when I say this is probably one of the best things I have every purchased. This delonghi ECAM44 coffee machine is just fantastic. It is so easy to use and clean it’s a dream.
Coffee beans are added to the top compartment, you choose your default strength and then just pick your desired coffee. Cappuccino, espresso, long, you choose. Place you cup under the twin spouts and press go. That’s it. The machine grinds the beans and within several seconds your hot coffee appears.
For cappuccino you use the steam spout. Put the milk in a container and raise the container so the steamer is in the milk and press go. Once the milk is as hot and frothy as you want it remove the container and add to your coffee. FANTASTIC!!!
Then you just remove the 2 milk spouts and clean them out with hot water and place them back on.
Lastly the machine will tell you when it is out of water or when the coffee tray needs emptying, both just slide out empty or refill and your ready to go again.
I really can’t recommend this machine enough.
I’ve been using this machine for over a week now and am slowly realising how versatile it is and how good the coffee can be. First of all, this is a BIG machine. Maybe it’s me, but I was not expecting it to be so big, although it has to be in order to do everything it does. It’s not a problem, but do realise you need more room for this than a kettle or ‘normal’ coffee machine. People who complain about the temperature of the coffee or consistency of the froth probably have not read the manual carefully and have not changed the default settings. Almost everything can be changed and set to your liking: coffee strength, temperature, amount etc., so if you read the manual and take time to learn what this machine can do, you’ll end up with a damn good cup of coffee every time. I’ve been looking for a good coffee machine for years and was willing to pay for it when I found it, and this machine fits the bill perfectly. (I admit it’s not cheap, but if you were looking for cheap you wouldn’t have spent more than a few seconds looking at this!)
Oh, just remembered: when you’re putting in or taking out the milk frother container, be careful not to accidentally switch the machine on or off, as it goes through a rinse cycle every time on switching on and the on/off switch is on the top left where you put your hand to steady it.
New edit after using the machine for a while: Still love it, and have learned to heat cup first with boiling water for people who like their coffee hotter (even with the machine set to hottest level). I make a cappuccino with the cappuccino button, then top the cup up with frothed milk to make it exactly the way I like it. I use beans roasted to a 4, and set the level to strong.
Absolutely fantastic unit – great coffee that doesn’t take very long to make at all. Haven’t used the cappuccino facility yet but I’m more of an espresso person so not too bothered. For the minute or so it takes to grind and produce your coffee the machine is relatively loud but it’s for such a short time that it isn’t an issue.
One annoyance is the temperature gauge. Even on the hottest setting I don’t get coffee as hot as when I boil a kettle and make a pot of cafetire coffee. Still good enough though. Love the simplicity of this machine.
Overall really happy. Quite noisy when in use ( grinding coffee beans isn’t a quiet task I guess), but good fresh tasting hot coffee and the milk steamer is good. Did our first descale yesterday which was a bit longwinded, but if it makes sure it lasts a long time then thats fine.
Had to exchange machine due to faulty cup warming plate and new one better but still only barely warm so poor as a cup warmer.
Empty bin grounds warning comes up often even though only 2 grounds in the bin so annoying having to keep removing, emptying and replacing each time machine is used when there is basically no waste.
In my research for a super automatic espresso machine I was trying to balance between finding a one button machine that could give me many choices in perfecting my personal cup of coffee both in black and milk infused drinks. The kicker was also finding a machine that did not need a bank loan to be able to afford! I wanted one that would let me easily remove the water and grounds containers from the front (I had no space to pull from above), had a milk container that attached directly to the machine and an easy to access and clean infuser. I also wanted it to look really good! It is very easy to use and cleanup. I enjoy coffee that is like the coffee shop. The Delonghi espresso machine takes the beans of your choice, your milk, and does all the work to make you a Cappuccino, Cafelatte, or Espresso.

Coffee machine is by far the best investment I’ve made recently.
Arrived extremely well packaged and secure.
The machine is a good size and very easy to set up.
Once everything was in place it was time to try a cup… I wasn’t disappointed.
I like the fact you are able to set settings for how you have your coffee and the machine will remember this for next time. You can adjust the heat of the drink also, as standard it comes with a 2/4 heat setting, which is still hot, however have turned ours up as I like a hot hot coffee.
Overall, fantastic machine and well worth the money.
As someone that works in the coffee industry and many of the Bean to Cup machines that you see in chain coffee shops and stores, the quality of milk and coffee that this machine produces is on par with any of those.
Setup is a little complicated (mainly due to the instructions), but after that the machine is a breeze. I’ve calibrated my own versions of the programs (as I like a stronger coffee), and from startup to finished latte or flat white, it’s about 90 seconds. My only con is the size of the milk container, it’s about 3 drinks.
Fantastic product.

Order arrived and the storage and transport method seems bad (show you in the pictures). The inner and outer carton got from the bottom to the water. In addition, the outer carton from the bottom is cracked.
And I have a problem that the cappuccino does not always work, even though the steam sometimes comes out of the box of milk but comes down with the cup
My Nespresso does taste better but this coffee is still great. I noticed online when I checked my Nespresso order history to reorder something that I had spent 600 that year on coffee! That is madness. So I bought this. Now I can just buy bags of beans and I get a wider choice, had some great coffees, and they are low cost. 10 Nespresso capsule are 50g coffee for 3.30 or I can buy 250g beans for almost the same, 1/5 of the price. So it will pay for itself in a year and I get variety. And I can put the waste on the compost whereas I can’t be bothered to recycle the capsules – I don’t have space for yet another smelly bag of recycling. I also get a bigger cup of coffee without it being watery, nice and strong. I know there is a larger kind of Nespresso machine now but those capsules are even more.
Ideally I’d like more control of the milky coffees. You can adjust the milk and water but not the strength.
Whilst we have only had this coffee maker for 12 hours, we are so far delighted with our not cheap purchase. We would highly recommend it. I like the ability to configure and modify pretty much every setting such as froth, milk temperature, length of drink and strength.
The numerous photos above do not help with the confusion as to which model / version this listing represents. The version that arrived on our doorstep direct from Amazon is the version with a “Flat White” button. Ignore the images at the top of this listing and use the photos lower down in the description for reference.
I am a little worried that the milk reservior may break when removed as it is a little tight, however this may just be because it is new.
Initially the coffee and milk does not come out that hot, however look in the settings menu and change the temperature to your liking. Factory standard has the temperature set to 50%.

Pros: Easy to use, easy to clean, good coffee, good range of choice (strength, head etc…) within its preset limits
*before reading the cons bear in mind that this is a mid-price machine.*
Cons: if you like really hot coffee this is not for you, it comes out ready-to-drink-now at it’s hottest setting; ‘flat white’ seems to be a different drink to the flat whites you get everywhere else in my limited experience- pleasant enough drink though; drink sizes are preset and are small, so you routinely have to do double delivery for a standard mug, and triple if you have a large mug. This is because delivery is based on espresso shots, which is perfectly reasonable, but something to bear in mind.
Overall: good value for the money, would have just liked it to be a bit hotter at its top setting
This unit is not that big considering the Bean-to-cup system comprises of a coffee bean storage tray, grinder, tampering unit, kettle, water tank, waste water tray, waster granuals tray and residual coffee tray.
Prior to any drink made the system will do a quick flush though to clean the pipes and then get underway to make you a drink of choice. The coffee is intense and delivered at the perfect temperature (which you can adjust). I personally go for the Long coffee option and top up with hot water from the built in dispenser which gives me the perfect measure. I have tried the latte and the cappochino and flat white, but cannot tell the difference; I enjoy watching the coffee being made though in glass coffee cups.
The machine will run through a cleaning sequence prior to turning itself off.
Is it worth paying 800 for? Absolutely not. But I got mine reduced as an ex-demo/window dressing machine and it was like new. Paying for this was nearly worth it.
Love this coffee machine! It’s not perfect, I have a few niggles with it but overall it makes lovely cappuccino and americano, my go to coffees. Get’s used at least 3 times a day.
It has settings for other milk based coffees but no where does it tell you what the machine does differently. I know what the difference between a cappuccino and a flat white is but i’d like to know what the machine does that’s different. as far as I can tell. they are all the same…a shot of coffee…and some milk at varying amounts which you manually set to what ever frothiness you want.
Makes a fairly hot cappuccino, think the milk could do with being a degree or to warmer but a long as you drink it immediately its good. I tend to stick mine in the microwave for 15seconds as i like my coffee hot. Temp for a plain coffee is fine.
The milk frother works well at it’s different settings. After you’ve made a coffee with it, it will recommend you turn the dial to clean on the forther. At this point I’d recommend you have a spare cup handy to put under it because it sprays milky water all over the place, making quite the mess. This part just doesn’t seem thought out at all and is my one main annoyance with this coffee machine. Your try and surrounding worktop will be disgusting after a day of use if you didn’t clean up as you go.
I still love it even with these gripes. I got it at a reduced price but if I had paid full price I’d be a bit disappointed.
…but now she uses it more than me.
Had this machine for 8 months and it’s been fantastic. Very easy to use. One of my faveourite things about it is how versatile it is for the different drinks it can make. (Although I think the pre set flat white isn’t right).
Little tip, if you want an americano type drink, don’t try to change the ‘short, medium, long’ coffee option, as this is for espresso only. For an Americano just do a normal shot or two and then add hot water.
We’ve had this machine for almost a month. It’s fantastic and light years ahead of the Tassimo pod machine it replaced. It looks good too.
It produces beautiful freshly ground coffee to our specific taste. As good as any coffee shop you can visit and for around 10p a cup (or 15p a cup if you like your coffee milky). We’ve based this on buying excellent Taylor of Harrogate beans on a 2 for 1 deal. This cost would obviously rise proportionately if you bought from an artisan producer.
Moreover, it produces a perfect cup of coffee quickly, effortlessly and in a simple, foolproof way.
Cleaning is mostly automatic, self generated and a doddle.
My wife and I like our coffee the same, so we now use the 2 cup function which dispenses 2 espressos simultaneously to exact requirements. Then we manually add the exact amount of frothed milk we prefer using the milk frother or carafe as DeLonghi call it.
The coffee output is very warm as opposed to hot, so occasionally we have resorted to a quick heat up in the microwave when we have wanted our coffee to stay hotter for longer for those occasions recently when we decided to sit outside.
Don’t hesitate. Buy one now.

This is the second De’Longhi machine I have owned. I bought my first which was the DeLonghi 5600 Perfecta over 5 years ago and it still makes a great tasting coffee, however the temperature of the water wasn’t as hot as when new so when I saw this new ,machine on offer from amazon I just had to get it. My first machine has found a new home by the way and is still making great coffee. When I passed it on it had produced nearly 6000 cups of coffee.
This machine is stunning to look at, I just love the black which compliments my kitchen and other appliances. My old machine was great but this one is a huge step up in terms of performance. It holds more water, it is quieter, it heats up quickly and holds nearly twice the amount of beans. It also has a replaceable filter so great for hard water areas and the splash tray and coffee grind container are massive compared to the old one which means less emptying. The milk carafe has also been redesigned going from a round container to a slimmer rectangular shape making it much easier to store in the fridge. Setting up is so easy, even if you have never used one before as the instructions are clear and easy to follow. Of course the quality of coffee produced is entirely based on the quality of beans used and it’s worth shopping around as there are some wonderful beans about at very low prices.
Cleaning is very easy, it comes with all the tools you need and a free bottle of descaler. If this machine lasts as long as its predecessor then I will be very happy. An excellent coffee machine and I’m in coffee heaven.
This review is for the De’Longhi ECAM44.660.B Eletta Bean to Cup Coffee Machine, 1450 W – Black
Benefits of this machine
– very easy to use and saves a lot of time with one touch for most popular drinks
– ability to customise drinks to suit your taste
– automatic frother works very well and has several settings for the different drinks
– felt uneasy using pods environmentally and this machine grinds beans fresh
– we use the milk from this machine to make hot chocolate for our toddler as we feel safe it will not be too hot for her
– we do use this to make tea. Saves boiling the kettle and you can have hot milk too
– love seeing the different layers of the drink through the coffee mug
Points to note
– check the dimensions
– we have not yet had the joy of performing maintenance on this. But these machines will require regular filters, decalc and cleaning
– grinders are never going to be silent
Tips
– Lavazza coffee beans can be had relatively cheaper from Costco if you are a member
– Branded coffee cups can be very expensive. We have found the IKEA 365+ clear mugs a very suitable alternative. They do 2 sizes and we have found the smaller ones are a good size for the Cappucino and the larger ones for Lattes and the flat white coffees.
– Using a small tub under the “taps” when running a clean on the milk caraffe and when powering off the machine, means the drip tray has to be pulled out much less frequently
– Placing your coffee cup under the machine when it’s turned on means it can get hot with the rinse.
– We always run a clean on the caraffe if it’s come fresh out of the fridge just to help pre-warm it
– I have attached an image we have printed and laminated showing the different drinks that can be made. This is much easier to show to guests when they are deciding which drink they would like.
– The image also includes the different froth settings for the different drinks so will save you having to pull out the manual
We are relatively newbies to the world of coffee coming from a cultural background of tea drinkers. However we had recently been frequenting more and more Costa and then used the Aeropress with a separate frother at home. We have now moved onto this splendid device and now on average I will have at least 2 coffees a day from this machine (Cappucino in the morning and Flat White later in the day) and then the family have adhoc lattes throughout the day.
As always, if you find this review helpful please make sure to let me know. Knowing you’ve found it helpful motivates me to do more such reviews.
I posted a 1 star review originally, but have changed to 4 after the original machine was replaced in 24 hours. Our first machine had some kind of manufacturing defect where the water ‘drawer’ was jammed into the machine. We managed to get it out to fill with water for the first attempt but we couldn’t get the drawer back in and it got so jammed we couldn’t get it in or out. No amount of heaving (with two adults) could move it. I’m familiar with DeLonghi coffee machines (office has an older version) and so I don’t think this was user error.
The second machine arrived soon after and worked beautifully (the drawer smooth and faultless).
DeLonghi UK customer support has no telephone number and responded with a receipt for my request for help, but no follow up, although to be honest this all happened in the days preceding Christmas. There appears to be very little support for when things go wrong, potentially because they rarely go wrong and we were unlucky with or first machine.
Love this Coffee Machine got it at a great price compared to the Delonghi Site. It Covers everyone’s taste in the family due to the variety of strengths and types of drinks it makes (Can even make a cup of tea 🙂 ). Tip always warm the cup first for a cracking cup of coffee. The only problem is there are so many types of beans to choose from so a lesson in coffee is needed, but the machine is great for trying them with. Leaves a great fresh coffee smell in the Kitchen from the ground beans. Not worth the Delonghi Price in my eye’s but if you want a Coffee thats the same from any coffee shop i have tried then you can’t go far wrong.
This machine is great especially when you save a few hundred quid in the sale!
I did find the enclosed instructions a bit hit and miss especially when you want to program the size of drinks. The YouTube videos are a big help here.
I didn’t fit the water filter as I filter all our water already. You get through a tankful pretty quickly so leaving out the filter gives a bit more capacity. Also, on first use you will probably need to manipulate the beans down the hole. The bean holder takes a 250g bag (we ordered 4 packs as a bundle on Amazon and keep them in freezer until used).
I found the Lavazza Rossa coffee bean is very good and makes a lovely coffee with a very good crema. The milk drinks are very nice but you don’t get the heat that you will with a straight black coffee. I heat cups with hot water when machine rinses after being turned on. The milk frother works very well and the clean function on the milk container is a good idea.
This will be considerably cheaper, in the long term, than the Dolce Gusto pod machine it replaces. So nice to have a quality coffee every morning. It tastes better than many of the high street coffees in my opinion.
We are very happy with this machine. It is easy to work and keep clean (it mostly cleans itself) and it looks very stylish. Best of all it makes great coffee – I actually prefer the latte and cappuccino to Costas and Starbucks. We love the aroma of the beans when the machine is grinding them – but it can use ground coffee too.
As other reviews mention, the coffee is warm to hot, in other words, it dispenses coffee ready to drink. It doesn’t do boiling hot coffee – I find that warming the mugs, with hot tap/kettle water, prior to filling them with coffee really helps with making sure it keeps hot.
Price was better than in the big department stores.
This is an amazing bean to cup machine, which makes wonderful cappuccino with very little effort. I wanted a machine that would be easy to clean, and this De’Longhi Eletta does not disappoint. Having used two relatively simple wand type milk frothing espresso machines in the past, I found the manual cleaning of the heating wand or nozzle following each use was a real pain – this machine has a dedicated milk container which has a setting for self cleaning the milk spout after use, it is just so easy! As the instructions say, you have to make a few coffees before you achieve the perfect cup, but the effort is well worth the consistent, reliable results you get once the machine is ‘tuned’ to your taste. If you enjoy milk based coffee, this machine excels at producing a delightful drink. It’s too early to comment on long term reliability, but absolutely no issues during my first 20 days of ownership.
Excellent machine! Bought to replace my 14 year old Siemens bean to cup machine that just wore out. I spent ages weighing up different machines before choosing this one, and can think of no negative points at this stage -it has been perfect and dare I say it, better than my Siemens machine. i don’t find the menu system difficult, just different, so reading the manual is a good start. Once you understand what the buttons mean, its actually quite sensible. There is a feature allowing you to programe your own preferences for a cup of coffee which is a great idea and seems to work well.
The build quality is also very good and I have been impressed with the self cleaning capabilities – a huge improvement over my old machine.
… i had a siemens machine that after 12 yrs retired gracefully. I opted for the make your own, capsules etc and then realised it was costing me a small fortune so back to bean to cup. So far so good – great looking machine, still getting used to it in terms of pressing the right buttons to get the drink i want -> this is user operation error by the way, need to reduce the amount of milk it dispenses, more coffee etc but i will get used to it. I like the idea of being able to put the milk container in the fridge, thats really handy on many levels. All good so far!
I looked at multiple machines it was between this and the Jura but i could not figure out why the price difference – perhaps time will tell? this does more for the money and equally other ratings seem to support this.
Enjoy! will report back if anything changes because this is an expensive purchase and should last for many many coffees to come.
Had this for 2 years.
Can’t really tell the difference between the flat white and latte or machiatto. But…
Great coffee, easy to clean. Easy customisable coffee. Excellent milk frother. Hot coffee (must say to highest setting). Works well with rice milk.
Only issue is that the drip tray gets scratched even though it has been used carefully. For such a high ticket item this is not good.
Pros: Bought this machine over six months ago and deliberately held off writing a review until now so that it doesn’t just reflect my first impressions. Overall feeling – I love it. For years I’ve used manual espresso machines, and, to be honest, never mastered them. Occasionally made superb shots but was never consistent. With this machine, once set up, it just makes perfect coffee every time. So easy to use, so clean and simple. No mess with grounds. Great milk frother as well. Thoroughly recommended.
Cons: Hot water dispenser isn’t as hot as I’d like it; a common complaint on pretty much all machines. Do any manufacturers read these comments, or does the temperature deliberately get set lower for some reason? Also, just a minor thing – the design of the drip tray is unnecessarily ‘fussy’, lots of protrusions making it that bit more difficult to clean.
Have been using this for almost six months now and so I feel like I can give a solid review. I usually only have espressos, unless I accidentally buy some rubbish beans in which case it’s the long brew topped up with hot water! With a bit of fiddling around with the grind size, you can get consistently very good espresso. Not as good as an espresso from your local independent coffee shop barista but better than the muck you’ll get from the big 3.
It is loud, although not as loud as some I’ve heard. You can set a timer so it comes on and is warmed up in time for your morning coffee, you can adjust the water temperature, adjust the grind and install a water filter.
The milk frother is easy to use and makes a great cappuccino and/or latte.
Had it for a few days now and like it. Had intended to get the cheaper DeLonghi but thought what the heck, certainly not cheap but bean to cup machines aren’t. It’s straight forward to get started although the manual perhaps makes it seem more complicated than it is and could be better. Everything’s customisable, strength, temperature, amount produced… but if you’re used to having a full mug/cappuccino cup (300ml’ish) then by default even the extra long doesn’t fill it as it uses standard servings (I think) so an extra long espresso is 120ml.
Some aren’t happy with the cappuccino/milk temperature. I’ve been warming the cups using the kettle so they’re nice and toasty and using milk straight from the fridge. It seems hot enough to me as long as you’re intending to drink it straight away. Not tried nuking the milk so it’s luke warm yet to see what that’s like.
Only slight minus so far is, unless I’ve missed something, getting the last beans out of the hopper when you want to change blends or swap between decaf is a bit of a pain. Been trying various Rave coffees. Might be a common thing and assume it’s to so fingers aren’t ground too.
If I was a coffee bean I would want to be made into coffee in this great bean to cup machine. It makes fantastic cappuccino’s consistent every time, fully user custom menu for milk and coffee strength, once you have got a grip on its workings this is probably the best coffee maker for the money on the market. Its quiet for a coffee maker and has great features, we love it and make around 12 cups a day every day and it is totally consistent and reliable. Excellent value for money, easy to use, quiet, makes perfect coffee and cappuccino every time, the milk unit is brilliant!
Having owned a de’Longhi Magnifica automatic cappuccino machine for 7 years I find this new machine to be an excellent replacement. We well and truly ran the Magnifica into the ground and it unfortunately got to the point where all parts were obsolete so it was no longer possible to fix. It pretty much did everything we needed from a machine so looked for something similar and the Eletta ticks all the right boxes. As others have said, it’s a tad slimmer and taller than the Magnifica but thankfully still (just) sits underneath our kitchen wall units.
Interestingly, the bean hopper takes more beans than the Magnifica which is great because this represents the greatest faff as it’s housed at the back of the machine, but the milk container holds less which obviously means it needs to be topped up more frequently. I like the option to alter the density of froth as I prefer a “flat white” style froth rather than the fluffier cappuccino option.
As others have said, the milk isn’t steaming hot but it’s perfectly acceptable, especially if cups are pre-warned with hot water or using the “rinse” facility on the machine. Using a digital thermometer the milk reached 57.5 degrees C when using a cup straight from the cupboard and when using a pre-warmed cup. Best advice = Descale the machine regularly to avoid expensive repairs further down the line!!
I’d been waiting for such a coffee maker for years and was not disappointed. For me it’s perfect. Once you have programmed it how you want your coffee and the size of liquid required (which can take a little while but stick with it – it really is not that difficult) it’s great. We have now run the machine daily for the last month and have encountered no problems. We’ve used ground coffee and beans and both work excellently. Milky coffees are just great too. Again you will need to experiment a little with how you like your coffee and maybe not have the milk so cold if you prefer your milky coffee so hot you can’t actually drink it straight away but apart from that I would recommend this machine. Enjoy!
