Lot better much more expensive than a PC plus USB unit… captures all the frame of the analogue signal including the lines including teletext etc of a broadcast signal… so will need editing out at the end of capture…but works very well.

Tremendous piece of kit, does exactly what it says on the box. There are plenty of videos extolling its virtues so there really isn’t much point in going over them all again, suffice it to say I’m very satisfied with mine.

A couple of gripes, you can’t chance the screen brightness or contrast, the record/playback volume is very low even with the device turned up to max and a stand would be really useful as the speakers are on the back, if you lay the device down the sound is muffled and the device is not stable enough to stand up on it’s bottom side.

Firstly, this is an awesome product for capturing old VHS tape. The best thing for me is that it requires no software that is often troublesome because it is never updated.

Secondly, The customer service for DigitNow is impeccable. I had a faulty unit and contacted them. The responses were very fast and courteous and a replacement landed on my doorstep within a week. My contact was Vivian ; who was exceptional. I would highly recommend this product for its quality and ease of use. Additionally, I would highly recommend them for their customer service. We need that. Incidentally, Roxio’s customer service is shocking . keep well away from them. Just saying.

Like 5″ display screen, easy to set up and menu clear to understand threw both displays on tv. 3 file lengths hi, low 8 hr record from 128 gigs or 770p 22 hours on 128 gigs in quick time file format. You don’t get any software program but don’t really need that play on Windows or of the device. Not too bad but no headset to use portable use speakers which you can hear arm’s length. Will charge on games consoles and capture HDMI or RCA.

I did write a review about a week ago when I first it , and have used it for about 7 hours of transferring video , in that time the screen has frozen 6 times , but I find if you reset it , and turn it off for 10 minutes, it seems to behave itself, I have used both sd card and usb stick and both perform about the same , picture quality is ok , for the price I’d say it’s good value, but only time will tell if it’s up to transferring all of my tapes vhs, hi8 and mini dv ( the mini dv I connect through separate video converter)

Good picture.only issue is that it keeps freezing ,and does not work with some usb sticks for no reason, sd card works fine.

This is my 2nd review as I deleted the first. It ticks all the boxes , but the one negative issue is that of dropped frames when it creates a new file whilst capturing. It can be annoying when it happens during a conversation. Also the option to capture to both Fat 32 & NTFS would be an improvement. It records from all HDMI sources I have tried so no problems there.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersHow did I not know that these things existed?! I have wanted to convert some old VHS tapes to digital for the longest time!! Do you have any idea how stressful it’s been holding on to these memories on VHS and hoping they don’t somehow stop working? On top of that, I have even been holding on to my old VHS player just so I can still play those tapes! Good thing I still had it, as I used it to play the tapes and then record the footage on to this awesome little gadget! It works so well and I am finally able to have backups of my tapes AND share the videos with family and friends!! I wish I had this sooner, and I couldn’t believe it when I first heard that something like this was even available. It works great, the recorder is solid, and the screen on it also helps so much so you don’t even need a TV to get things done.

Absolutely amazing!! I have no complaints at all, I am very happy!!

Golden Review Award: 43 From Our UsersInitially purchased to convert out wedding video into digital as not able to play old vcr video tapes on new devises.
Unit itself very slim and nice looking. On sides has HDMI in and out ported , also has AV in / out ports, SD port and USB port.
Unit has internal battery which around 2hr capacity to watch on its digital 5″ display. Display bright and colourful, can see what’s captured.
On best result I found out better to use fast speed SD cards, with low old model I didn’t get as sharp result as with fast model.
It also has build in stereo speakers, which till isn’t to check sound quality of the footage.
It’s very easy to use, simple menu, picture quality full HD 1080p with 60 frames per second.
Came with hdmi cable, usb power cable and tv connector.
Great value for money as it could cost couple times more if wish to transfer it threw local photo studio.
So far very pleased with simplicity and performance.

Golden Review Award: 42 From Our UsersI use these in conjunction with a couple of old VHS tape recorders i pick up really cheap, I connect them up via HDMI to scart connectors that i have and just play the VHS which is the captured digitally onto an SD card in the capture box.

It’s almost a case of plug and play as i can just let them play in the background recording everything without touching it, obviously the quality depends on the quality of the VHS tapes themselves and there is no upscaling with these, but that can be done with software before sending off to people if needed.

I have tried another couple of uses like recording old school game play on old gaming systems which wouldn’t normally be able to be digitized.

The fact it doesn’t need to stay plugged in is a big help for moving it around to various different sources, the battery holds for ages as the screen is quite small and is actually an OLED screen which although it is extremely clear it means that it hardly uses any power.

Golden Review Award: 41 From Our UsersI have loads of video cassettes that need to be saved!

I decided on the Digitnow HD video capture box. Firstly as well as the unit it inlcudes the video cable for connection to the video recorder and an HDMI cable – you may need an adapter from if you have a device with scart! The operating instructions are clear. However, they are not really needed because the device can be operated very easily! the results are fantastic and I am pleased!

The SD card provided is just a slot protection – so SD card is needed too.

    very easy to use

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersBrilliant HD video capture with 60 FPS frames per second. Ideal for extra smooth footage on fast action footages.
Unit itself has 5″ screen and internal build in battery power. Once fully charged it can last over 2 hours watching time or one hour of recording time. It can be supported with main power or with external power bank.
It support multiple inputs and outputs, ideal to work in different units as it support many connections.
On side it has AV in and out ports, together with HDMI in and out ports. It also has new C type DC connection port.
As external memory it can take USB and SC memory cards.
TK get excellent footage in 60fps need fast writing speed memory card, not to confuse writing with reading speed.
Overall fantastic result , ideal if working on fast 60fps footages.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersThis is one of really brilliant devices that comes along once in a while that really delivers on its promise and impresses. Really nicely designed packaging as well.

The DigitNow video recorder is a video capture device and monitor all in one with a gorgeous 5″ OLED display. It can input 1080P 60FPS USB 2.0 video to digital converter ,AV & HDMI video recorder capture from VCR, DVD, VHS Tapes, Hi8, camcorders, gaming systems comes and literally any other video feed you through at it.

One touch of a button on the front panel and it captures 1080P video / audio input from the HDMI / AV input ports on to the 64GB SD card on the side of the device. The remaining available recoding time is constantly displayed at the top of the screen so you can ensure you don’t run out mid way. Then stop and play back the video instantly or eject the SD card and pop it into your Mac or PC to upload or edit. It really could not be simple

The 1800mAh built in battery will last about 1 hour while recording and about 2 hours for playback though I’ve tested its limits myself. You can easily plug it into a battery power bank for extended work on the go. I found it would only support ExFat file format on the SD card not FAT32 as stated in the manual but as ExFat can store much large files sizes that’s fine with me.

I’m using it in my studio for to view multiple camera feed’s going into my ATEM Mini Pro that go out to both my Mac via USB C and to my DigitNow video capture device / monitor via HDMI. I can record the live feed entering the device or simply monitor my various camera and audio feeds from the ATEM Mini Pro using the multiple view panel mode. The ATEM is is great but it does not have a display nor such a simple user interface.

I’ve also plugged my Fire TV Stick 4K and it plays perfectly on the monitor. I also tested it with my sons PS4 inputting via HDMI direct and outputting via the HDMI out port to his monitor to capture his game footage and it worked perfectly. Menu’s and operation in general are super intuitive and it does its job really well.

Frankly I’m blown away by the video quality on the 5″ OLED display. It is absolutely gorgeous and I plan to also use the DigitNow mounted o my camera as a field monitor / recorder when I find a suitable cold shoe mount cradle.

All in all its an extremely useful device for my work flow and I couldn’t be happier with it.

Premium quality video capture device and monito

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersAs the owner of a traditional type of ‘game capture’ device (which links to a PC) I find that this is much easier to set up and use.
The video part of this review shows the DIGITNOW capture box recording for several different games consoles which were Xbox One X, Nintendo Switch and Xbox One – all video recorded with no problems and hopefully it plays at a good quality here on Amazon – normally the Amazon playback isn’t good for the video part of reviews but in ‘real life’ the playback is very good, certainly HD as intended.

Unfortunately as I do not have any old video recorders I can’t comment on how well it transfers tape to a digital format but for the purpose of capturing game footage it does it very well. I also tried recording a film from my PC and it did that no problem. It would probably capture from SKY (or other satellite provider) just the same allowing a satellite signal to be recorded onto a memory card since the same process of having an HDMI in and out is just the same as it is for game capture.

One thing which did confuse me was the included memory card which is apparently a 64GB card. It has no markings or rating on the card so I did not recognize it as a ‘real’ card which led to me buying a 128GB SanDisk card and that is what I recorded the footage for the video part of the review on.
Oh, another confusing thing was when the HDMI from the games console was connected to the IN port and another HDMI was connected to the OUT port the game / video capture device appeared to turn off as the screen went black – however, the picture was cast onto the television through which I would normally play games and all I had to do to record was press the record button on the device to start recording – that resulted in a red counter on the TV screen to confirm that it was recording.

I would certainly recommend this device to anyone waning a no-nonsense way to record their gaming sessions for upload to YouTube etc. and as it has multiple different inputs saving old VCR or camcorder footage to a digital format should be no problem too. Is it expensive compared to game capture devices which use a PC and software to record games? Yes, but it is much easier to do it with this device – you’re essentially buying convenience and if you’re an old fart like me the less complicated something is the better.

The battery life is a bit feeble but when it is connected to the supplied charger or another type C power supply while recording it will record for as long as it is ‘plugged in’.

As far as game capture goes this did everything my other (traditional PC based) device does and it is quicker and easier to set up so it’s a WIN / WIN for the DIGITNOW device – I would recommend it no problem and the OLED screen is very good quality. It would make a great device to watch films on as opposed to using a phone as the screen is very high resolution (compared to my phone).

    Great For Game Capture

I’ve had loads of problems trying to find a way to convert my old family VHS tapes, they were an absolute nightmare even after trying with a whole machine connected to the telly, until i found this, i connected the screen to the VHS player and linked it via HDMI and the process was really easy from that point onwards. You do need to leave the VHS running in order to transfer them, but all other parts of the process is really straight forward and simple.

So far I’ve converted 6 family videos onto SD cards and then onto DVD for my grandparents and they’re over the moon with it.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersYou don’t even need a computer to capture with this great piece of kit.
It has it’s own internal battery so you can use it on the go. You can also power it via USB-C with a battery pack
It comes with everything you need including a 64GB SD Card to record onto and an HDMI cable.

The picture quality is really good and the 60fps makes the right content buttery smooth.

With some screw holes in the enclosure and the ability to attach an external battery this would give the likes of atomos and blackmagic.

Overall it is a very useful bit of kit that I am glad that I invested in.

    All in one device

I have never seen one of these before!!! Usually I need to use a computer and link the video player to that using a special connection etc etc!! Not using this…

Literally plug it into this beauty and record anything in beautiful HD! Simple to use and if you use it alot (like me!) It’s worth it!!!!

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI bought this DIGITNOW HD Video Capture Box for my daughter who is an avid pc gamer and wanted a way to record her sessions so she can start her own YouTube channel. This product arrived quickly and well packaged. It is very easy to set uo and use and even my 10 year old daughter managed to get the hang of it very quickly. The quality if the recordings is very very good and it is easy for her to get the videos from the box thanks to the ability to record directly onto a USB stick. She can then upload them to her PC and edit her videos, absolutely brilliant and a small price to pay for my daughters happiness. It really is a great bit of kit that so far has worked exactly as we hoped it would and my daughter has no complaints about it all all, she absolutely loves it. It seems to be well made and manufactured with good quality materials. The build in screen is exceptionally clear and sharp with good levels of details. The menu is easy to use and navigate using the side buttons. All in all myself and my daughter are very very happy with this brilliant device and we have to give it 5 stars

    good quality video capture box
