So, I bought these 5 months ago to sit above access to our and a neighbours garage. Because this access crosses over a public pavement the cameras naturally have to capture movement along this pavement. Our houses front onto this pavement also.
Mounting and installing the cameras was easy. Navigating round the various set up options was also quite easy.
The storage unit sits in our living room and as long as you have a good wifi signal to the cameras (ours are about max 10m from our wifi hub) function perfectly.
When looking at purchasing a security camera system, my main concerns were the reaction time and obviously picture quality. With this system the picture quality is pretty good (can’t show you any footage because of data protection), but good enough to identify people. The reaction time is ok. Because the area covered is several metres down the pavement, it tends to start recording when the object is about 5m away which works for us. Sometimes it records car movement even though I set it to human motion only.
What I did have to do is buy separate wire cages for about 30 to house the cameras in because I guess it would be possible for someone to have a swipe at them even though they are mounted 4m above the pavement level. I had to cut a section of the cages out so as not to obscure the image.
There is the daily task of deleting footage otherwise you can use up space on the storage unit. You do not need to subscribe to any cloud storage which is good.
If you want to you can get real time footage from anywhere straight from your phone, otherwise we rely on a schedule which is easily set up within the app.
Battery life before recharging was impressive at about 4 months. Charging took about 4/5 hours.
For us because we have good street lighting I can save battery life by turning off the cameras’ lights.
When the cameras are activated a red light flashes so I guess this acts as a deterrent in itself. This does not seem to be an option.
So to summarise, I give it 4 stars because as with all these systems reaction time and picture quality can never be good enough but we have not had any ‘incidences’ since installing them.
Just brilliant - battery lasts ages too
Easy you use app, simple to install & very reasonable cost. Our neighbour had this system & recommended it so we thought we’d give it a try. We haven’t been disappointed & have since bought one for another family member.
Eufy pro 2k camera and Homebase 2
Great little cameras, easy set up and fitting. One issue no one has mentioned is that the Home base 2 only works on 2.4 hz Wi-Fi . I have sky hub and it runs 5hz and the Homebase will not pick it up so has to be hard wired all the time. Picture quality is pretty good for 2k but deteriorates a bit when zooming in on faces etc. Night vision is a bit shady as the cameras don’t always pick movement up over 5m away but good during the day. Does make no difference even if I adjust sensitivity. In all not bad for the money, got 80 voucher off from Amazon so pleased with that. Added a door bell, 2k version and we use home base as the chimer so pleased with that also.
Overall good quality
Easy setup and installation, fairly quick alerts, motion detection could be quicker but this may improve on camera position adjustment.
Too early for a full review, I'll update soon but installation easy with a couple of niggles.
On the positive, great kit, well made, set up easy, picture looks great, seems to work well as expected. Linked with google asssitant hub easily. Don’t know about long term, battery or charging yet.
On the installation part, just two niggles, the supplied screws are rubbish and the camera mount while sturdy only moves about 45.
Screws: I’ve shredded two lots of screws mounting the doorbell into wood with pre drilled holes! I now have the hassle of wanting to insert the angle plate and therefore needing to get these out. I would bin the supplied screws and use your own reliable ones! Seems a bit cheap in the grand scheme of things!
I want to fit each camera on a wall and look along that wall. The supplied mounts don’t allow this much adjustment, not even with just a cut out notch or anything. I’ve ordered a third party mount which allows 90 in all directions.
Eufy 2C 2camera Pro system.
This purchase consisted of a hub and two cameras although you can add additional cameras if desired for approx 100-130 each (Nov 22).
Set up to get the cameras talking to the hub was pretty straightforward. The instructions for the app and creating/sharing an account didn’t feel so intuitive although you can search on line for more detail. Overall though it was reasonably easy to understand after a bit of use.
The reason why I haven’t marked the product as a 5 is due to night detection on infra red not being as brilliant in very low light. I managed to walk right past camera and an alert was not triggered (although WiFi might have dropped out at same time). However once I adjusted the angle of the camera it picked me up quicker on entering the field of vision. Personally It feels the spot light (which will reduce battery life quicker compared to infra red only) feels the better way to go for clarity of images. Cameras required charging for approx 4 hours prior to use – batteries pre-installed and its claimed should last several moths without recharging dependent entirely on activity.
Built in storage of 16Gb should provide approx 30 days depending on level of cameras/triggers. No way to add more local storage but can download individual clips to external storage such as phone or sign up for AWS cloud service.
Deleting videos saved by system easy to delete once familiar with app.
Speed of notification of camera being triggered was instantaneous while being within wi-fi range.
Fitting the brackets (supplied with screws and plugs) and attaching the cameras was very easy.
Overall nice set of kit so far.
Only criticism is the human recognition isn’t brilliant we get quite a few false alerts for cats or strong wind blowing shrubs which sets the camera off. Adjusting sensitivity helps but doesn’t eradicate problem.
Great cameras
Very easy to set up and get going.
The picture on my phone is very clear and easy to see. Motion detection works very well.
Highly recommended.
Pretty good system
The cameras were really easy to install. The picture quality is clear and the human detection seems to work well. It has a light and an alarm to warn off intruders which is good. My only issue with it so far is the sound quality when you are speaking through your phone to the camera is shocking, it sounds like you’re playing a kazoo! Other than that it’s grea
