If your a strong person it’s very lightweight. A great buy and well worth the money. Would definately recommend.

It seems SabreCut works fine. Due to weight handle arrangement could be different to lean against torso or leg. It is fine if working in bursts.
I would love to see slightly longer saw. This one is on short side.
However, after reading reviews on other competitors products I think I made good choice. Not regretting so far. It cuts through bushes very well

Needed a hedge trimmer that did not require a cable. It does the job quite well. A bit heavy but you would expect that. Got it on prime day for good price. Battery life is quite good too. A job we can now do ourselves without the cost of a gardener. So, should more than pay for itself.

Bought this machine a while ago now, with the charger packing up in first 3months. Replaced so ok.
The real trouble with this machine is its weight, like many others you would think that the designers might use their brains to help out. Whats really awkward, is at full reach its switches are in the wrong place. If the machines strap came with a pocket, so that the battery end could sit in it and the switches move to half way along the pole, then the machine would be much easier to use.

Cable cord far to short, should really be longer, you lift the extension reel of the ground when cutting….my only fault…

As an older person I find it a bit heavy but that of course is a sign of quality especially in the motor.

  22. Anonymous says:

     United Kingdom

This piece of equipment was easy to assemble and easy to adjust in use, both the length of the pole and the angle of the cutting blade. Inevitably, if you put a hedge trimmer on the end of a long pole, it’s going to feel heavy and rather unwieldly to use but I was expecting that and the cutting blade coped very well with a laurel hedge.

I love this price of kit – it’s not as heavy as some reviews would suggest – I find it very flexible and manoeuvrable. Light years better than my previous one.

  24. Anonymous says:

     United Kingdom

Very easy to put together and easy to use, including changing the angle of the cutters. The only downside is that as the motor is at the cutter end, rather than at the handle end as with petrol units, it feels very heavy when using straight out from the body. You don’t notice it so much if using vertically on a high hedge. To be better it could use a harness and a counterweight at the handle.

For the price this trimmer is robust and so far works well on a variety of high hedges and trees in the garden.
Once fully extended it can become rather difficult to use however overall I’m pleased with the product.

  38. KerrieZFSsf says:

     United Kingdom

Battery life very good. Did all my hedge whereas previous sabrecut would only do half. Good reach although with it extended it is a little heavy.

  39. Anonymous says:

     United Kingdom

So the good is that this took me all of 2 minutes to put together. I love the extension built in and the battery charger being just a small cable affair is a nice touch too. Equally the blade adjustability is fantastic, you can get the right angle to make your life as easy as possible.

The protective cover on the blades is a bit fiddly and I don’t think it will last.

The bad is how heavy this is. I wish it was lighter if you aren’t quite strong holding this up for more than 15 minutes is a bit of a struggle. This is a shame as the whole device is well built and the battery lasts a long time.

In fact, on the battery, I love that it has its own indicator, showing the battery level at the touch of a button – a nice touch.

As hedge trimmers go this is a good one, and should allow you to trim hedges that are actually very high up – I could manage up to 3.5 meters.

So yes, this is a good hedge trimmer, but its sheer weight is what holds me back from giving it a full five stars.

This is a very good product if like us you have a property completely surrounded by leylandi hedges , ours are about 6-8ft high and 3 ft deep and this long arm is great as we dont need to get the ladders out .It coped well cutting them with ease and the joy of no wired restrictions . The run time was good for a battery operated cutter and although it wouldnt cut all the hedge in one charge there is always the option of extra batteries if I want to purchase some or as we do cut one section on one day making the whole job that much easier,
The one thing that stood out for me though was how much less noise these make during use than my old cutters, I wouldny=t need ear protecters when using these

This is a great hedge trimmer. I have previously used a corded extendable trimmer which formed a useful comparison. This is much better!

Out of the box, I was delighted to notice that although it’s branded Flymo, it’s actually got a makers label of Husqvarna which I recognise as a decent brand of garden tools.

It is very easy to put together – simply slide the extendable part into a locking collar (which stays locked up – there is a different screw collar for adjusting the extendable length). The battery didn’t take too long to achieve a full charge and has a useful set of indicator LEDs to see how much power left. The whole thing is very lightweight – I did have concerns that it’s lightweightiness might equate to bad performance but I was wrong. Exceedingly sharp blades easily took Ivy, Hawthorn and a well-established Bay Tree in their stride. The adjustable angle on the head is useful for rounding tops off and is easy to use – press in the buttons on the side and over it goes. Because it is a slightly heavy head, be warned – it tends to flip over by itself without much control. The extendable pole is as easy as unlocking a screw collar and sliding the length of the pole out and re-screwing the collar.

I spent an hour in the garden using this for quite some time (while clearing up in between) and it hasn’t even gone down one LED on the battery.

My only slight concern was laying it down on the floor in the extended position – it gets a bit of a bow in the pole! I got in the habit of shortening it before placing it down on the ground while clearing up.

The reason it’s better than a corded one is that it gives you much more freedom to move!

I got this for my husband, we have some conifers that need taking down. The 18 volt battery charges in a couple of hours and see got an hour’s full power. Charging the battery is simple enough. The hedge trimmer is about 2 and a half metres in lengrth, maybe a bit more. It slides together for easy assembly. It’s lightweight as trimmers go, but could be unwieldy until your used to it. The weight of the battery does counteract this a bit. It did what was required, for our biggest tree though, might have to get a chainsaw in. Yes, it is expensive but it’s a good brand and we have had no problems so far.

I got this one free through the AMAZON vine scheme in exchange for an honest review so I wanted to use it a few times before commenting as follows.
My garden is surrounded by a 6 foot conifer hedge and containes several tall ornamental bushes. Previously using my cord trimmer keeping hedges and bushes under controll was a time consuming task involving steps and a lot of streatching. This Flymo Sabre Cut has eliminated all that and reduced cutting time significantly. As the cutting head can be adjusted from zero to ninety degrees I can effortlessly cut the top of the 6 foot hedges then trim the sides. The telescopic handle extends even further if ever needed. Being a corded tool it has the power to easily cuts through most branches.
One small, perhaps important to some, negative comment: although not as heavy as some I have tried, it is fairly heavy and after prolonged cutting a bit of a strain on my 74 year old arms and back. If comparing , go for the lightest model that otherwise meets your requirements.
A very good product from an established manufacturer at a keen price.

I bought this for my 86 year old father who loves his garden and is still very fit . He loves it although did say it’s a bit heavy but if younger wouldn’t notice it as much. It’s 30min battery life is long enough for what he needs it for and said couldn’t use it for longer in one hit anyway due the to the weight. I did some research and this is one of the lighter ones so glad I chose the flymo. Pleased with the purchase.

great for light pruning without having to balance on steps or ladders, but not as powerful as I thought, dont think it would cope with 16mm twigs

  73. Anonymous says:

So far only used once. Seems to cut ok and the ability to extend and angle the cutting blade to nearly 90 degrees makes it ideal for my tall boundary hedges. The max cutting with of 16mm is a little bit restrictive, but OK for a quick trim of the hedges. Not too heavy, although you wouldn’t want to hold it up for hours – not that the battery would let you do that anyway. Easy to assemble and split for storage. A recomended product for the amateur.
