I just finished making my first video using this teleprompter. Being a guy, meaning I’m averse to reading directions, I figured this out easily and recorded the best, most natural-looking video I’ve ever done on the second take. The ONLY reason it wasn’t on the first take is my cats started all-of-a-sudden feeling neglected and decided a lap ride was imperative. 😉
This teleprompter did exactly what it says it will do, was easy to set up and put away, and will be used in every video I shoot from here on out that isn’t just an on-the-fly IG or TikTok video. 100% recommended!
I do teaching videos and have been frustrated with the amount of editing required when speaking extemporaneously. I use bothy my Nikon D4S and Cell phone depending on final need. Tried using iPad without a teleprompter and was unhappy with poor eye-contact with viewer. After setting up the TMP100 up and making adjustments (took about an hour to get everything dialed in) the results are excellent. Have produced several videos using Nikon… eye contact looking directly into the lens is perfect. Don’t notice fStop losses or reflections. Am impressed with build quality of the product, especially for the reasonable cost. Would suggest they make the adjusting screw knows larger as they are hard to adjust for those of us with large fingers. Installing and properly setting up an iPhone 12 Pro Max is a bit fiddly compared to the Nikon, but it worked just fine. Have successfully tested it using the phone, but haven’t had a reason to produce with cell phone at this point. Bottom line: highly recommend this product.
It took just a few minutes to set up and begin using the teleprompter. Video quality seemed unimpaired, and readability of text from a 9.7″ iPad was excellent. The materials and workmanship are quite good, and it looks capable of long years of service.
It would be nice if there were a way to adjust the height of the camera. I found with a DSLR or mirrorless camera, the lens axis was well below the center of the glass. I used a quick release mount and matching plate to elevate the camera a bit, which helped.
To stow the teleprompter in its carrying case, it has to be disassembled. This is not a big deal, but it does add to the setup time for each use. It would be nicer if it somehow popped out out of the bag ready to use.
This is my first teleprompter purchase, and I’m in love. There are a few parts that a little finicky, but I did buy the 100, not the 500, and I expected not to have all the bells. It’s been perfect for my use, and I’m to the point where I can take it up and put it down in less than 5 minutes, which is huge.
Very happy with this product would recommend to anyone that’s looking for one.
I have been using this Glide Gear teleprompter for a couple months now and wanted to wait to leave a review. It has been wonderful and a fantastic value for the money. It is very well built and functions as it should. The glass is high quality and allows for a super clear image. I also bought their optional mount that allows me to use my cell as a camera. That also works perfectly. Very happy with this purchase and would totally recommend this wonderful teleprompter. It will definitely up your video game!
Well made, easy to set up, works perfectly with my Panasonic handicam and iPad Pro 11.
Others have not recommended handicams but I have had zero problems. It probably helps if you have a model where the lens sticks out slightly or one with a lens hood (or in my case large filter ring) to give the snoot something to grip onto.
Only issue with smaller cameras like handicams is the lens sits a bit low on the glass which can make it look like your eyes are looking up a bit rather than straight down the barrel. To fix this I purchased a cheap (Chinese) Z tilt adapter to raise the camera slightly (just 2 or 3 centimeters) to ensure the lens is in the middle of the class and this works brilliantly. Have attached photos of the prompter without its hood to explain. These Z adapters screw into the camera and the base screws into the prompter then you can raise the camera to exactly the height you require.
Hope this helps for those with handicams who were wondering if they would fit (as I was before I purchased). Highly recommend this teleprompter.
Researched this loads before deciding on this one. I was incredibly impressed from the moment I opened the carry bag it come in. No assembly at all other than folding it out, attaching the material shield and one time attaching the rubber guards for the iPad.
Used it for the first time today and the results are excellent. Perfect video and clear words for on the glass. It’s big enough to read from a good 8-10 feet so that no one will register your eyes moving.
If I could make just 2 suggestions:
1) Make mantrap note of how it comes out of the bag and how the foam padding goes round it. If you do it goes back in perfectly and ultra safe.
2) maybe invest in a height riser of just 1.5cm as my Sony A77II sat a little low. I see one on here for 14 that I’m ordering.
Other than that, seriously amazed by the quality of this product at the price compared to next models up. Delighted!
I just finished my first session with the TMP 100. The talent took to it immediately. The product is well-designed and its build quality is excellent. Once it is assembled it is very easy to use. The extra 1/4-20 screws were immediately put to use holding a shotgun mic and small LED panel. Nice touch, as is the carrying case.
The instructions, however, could use some help. I found them unclear and difficult to follow. The low contrast of the photographs made it very difficult to see what was being illustrated. At the very least it needs an actual proofreader to fix the many errors (I was up to 25 in three pages before I gave up). It may seem like a small thing, but it cheapens the image of the company. I would give it 4.75 stars if I could, but I happily rounded up to 5 because the product is really quite excellent.
I’m quite new to filming professionally, and have been doing some corporate instructional videos recently, I needed something for the client to read from after a few failed attempts at them remembering their lines.
This product seems very well built and it easy to use, I was concerned that shooting through another piece of glass would effect the quality but I have not noticed any difference since using this product.
I also makes it so much easier to edit a video knowing the client is saying the exact same thing each time,
Highly recommended.
I needed to shoot some marketing & sale videos. For those shots I was reading from a script and the Glide Gear teleprompter gave me the perfect shot. Plus, it took me all of 5 minutes to have it out of the box, on my tripod, camera connected, and taking shots. Well worth the money and I will certainly be using it a lot more now that I have it. I would recommend spending the few extra dollars on this one vs. that other lower priced units. This unit is all one piece, super robust & stable, and I can see getting many years of use out of it.
I was looking for a portable, no-hassle, easy-to-use teleprompter. I am glad I found the Glide Gear TMP100 Teleprompter. I have not been using it for too long since I just bought it. But it has all the features I was looking for. I did not have to put anything together; the product is sturdy and yet light. Easy to use. Easy to maneuver. I can easily mount my Canon EOS M50 or my iPhone. I recommended it.
Everything worked fantastically out of the box. Setup was a breeze and it saved me hours of memorizing lines or recording sentence-by-sentence, but the SMELL. My god. It had this chemical aroma that filled my whole room and didn’t go away. I’ve never smelled a plastic product like this before.
Within a few minutes, I had a headache and my lungs felt irritated. Returned the teleprompter because there’s no way that can be safe.
I got this product for my simple “hobby productions.” It’s awesome that it has a very simple design, very easy to set up and it all equals to smooth operations. Whether you are setting this up or taking it down, its a simple process. I love the fact that whether its an iPad or tablet or phone that you are going to use to mirror the text, it takes it all without fearing your pad or phone will fall.
This is actually a better quality compared to what’s out there at the price range.
This is a solid and well-made autocue. the reflection is much better and clear than a professional autocue we have in the office. It’s portable and lightweight, perfect for remote shots or external takes. There’s no magic solution about a nice size screen and how portable it can be but this one has one of the best size/pack/weight ratios so far.
The TMP 100 is a nice size. It seems well-made. It is heavier than I expected (which is a good thing) so I had to use a good tripod to hold it. I am using it for zoom calls by putting a small external field monitor on the tablet tray. Works great (I may need to get a bigger field monitor!) The case seems up to the task of protecting the unit if you use a little care. Overall I am pleased with the purchase and value.
This thing is solid. I put it together in just a few minutes and was off to the races. I didn’t know quite what to expect, but this thing is great. I’m recording with an iPhone XS Max and using an iPad for the script. The reflection is clear and bright. I also purchased a mic and a light square to accompany the entire setup. Everything I needed was inside the box ready to go. I’m both impressed and surprised by the quality of this product. This was exactly what I need.
in summary, this is a good teleprompter compare to those high end brand with much expensive price.
if you want to up your game in video recording, this consider low price pro consumer telepromter as it accomdoate larger tablet which makes it easier to be seen
Good:
– Nice carrying case, personally love it a lot.
– Sturdy and solid overall design and build.
– glass is definitely high quality glass, well reflect the text shown on phone/tablet.
– smart design, foldable glass and hood reduce the space require to carry around and keep.
Concerns:
– Abit on the heavy side, but probably thats the purpose of the build quality.
– The glass is just folding that way when not in use, I certainly abit scare and worry i may accidentally break it.
You get what you pay for! This is the top of line Teleprompter for a reason.
I purchased this device to deliver 2 solutions. Use with a tablet and PromptSmart pro software as a teleprompter, but mainly to have the tablet be a participant in a zoom meeting so I can have direct eye contact with the people I am speaking with.

I’ve had the opportunity to use this model of teleprompter on several occasions now and have been impressed at it’s overall simplicity AND affordability. It gets the job done.
Parts of setup are a little clunky, but I’m not sure that can be avoided. The build of the sled and beamsplitter is good and I feel confident that it will last many years with care. The carry bag doesn’t feel like it will hold up over time, but I’m hoping that I’m wrong about that.
Excellent quality product. I’ve used a bunch of teleprompters before but this is made of thick material so it’s nice and sturdy.
Excellent value for money. I’d buy it agai
I love that this is heavy duty and really quality built. I’m excited about using this – putting a mini-monitor on it to reflect my computer screen for video recording and zoom meetings. A couple of areas for improvement:
1) Instructions offer a “Shooting with a Cellphone” section that is not helpful. It says mount it on a slotted arm but no picture or direct instructions, so I have no idea how to hook that up. And so far it’s not intuitive.
2) I’m planning to use a webcam and have no idea how to secure the webcam – I have a spare velcro strap I may use. Since webcams are much more popular, would be nice to have options. The original screw doesn’t work since the webcam lens is so low.
3) I’ve mounted this on an Wali arm system…but it was VERY difficult. If this isn’t going on a camera stand, you’re going to have to rig some things up. Would love more universal options for mounting on various items like a VESA plate (i.e., more holes to mount other than simply down the middle).
Perhaps I’m using it out of the range of it’s traditional usage, but would be more usable with these improvements. Thanks!
I was looking for a teleprompter to use for social media marketing talk show, #SocialChatter, as well as for my interview series for Launch Your Live and came across the Glide Gear teleprompter.
The build quality is great. It’s also not bulky and comes in a handy carrying case.
As far as using it for a teleprompter, I am using a monitor set up to reflect into the teleprompter. This can also double as a second screen for me so that I can use it for recording videos, live streaming them, or looking at my audience. Love it!
As advertised, this is looking to be a great teleprompter – I’m planning on using it with a DSLR, but will first use it with my iPhone (as the camera). It seemed to be one of the only options, and after testing it briefly yesterday, it looks like it’s going to work well!–Not the original design purpose, but will keep me from having to upgrade later, so I’m stoked about that! Great job, Gear Glide, looking forward to using this, and checking out some of your other items. Thanks!
Great fit and finish. Includes a padded case. There is plenty of adjustability for devices from to the largest iPad available, to a small mobile phone. The dark/box is held together with velcro at the half mirror and zippers on each side close the triangles that form the box. I found it a bit tricky to wiggle the zippers together in order to get started, but this got easier with practice. I recommend getting a quick release plate for your camera in addition to this so that you can take the camera in and out for any adjustments without having to mess with the thumbscrew or alignment.
Ho comprato un teleprompter economico. Un disastro! Questo tutta un’altra cosa. Davvero ben fatto.
Nice case, nice glass. Flexible camera mount. I just wish the monitor/iPad tray was a a half inch wider and deeper.. As is it’s too large for the popular Lilliput 8.9 inch monitor and too small for an 11-12 inch monitor. The 8.9 inch monitor is ok but really only covers about 70% of the visible glass area. The hood is clearly meant to wrap around a DSLR/mirrorless lens. I use a camcorder and it bunches up under the camera.
This teleprompter is a BOSS! I could not have been happier with what I have in this unit. I needed a teleprompter and first ordered what I thought would work for a tablet/phone. I received something that would only work with a phone and it was disappointing even for that. I did some more searching and found this one. It seemed to be a little pricey for what I wanted to do but decided to take a chance. I’m extra glad that I did. It’s sturdy, easy to set up, and to make any necessary adjustments. great piece of equipment and I expect to be using this for a LONG time.
So far, after testing out the Glide Gear, I’m highly satisfied. The material feels high quality, it comes in a very nice carrying case, and most importantly, it works great with a variety of camera options as long as you have the appropriate mounting equipment to frame up your desired shot. One thing I did not expect that I also thought was great was that the Glide Gear could be used easily as a table-top device if a tripod was not available or if you hand off the Glide Gear to someone who would struggle setting one up. I added an inexpensive Kindle Fire tablet and Bluetooth remote to this kit and feel I am getting a lot of value for the money. Thanks!
I bought a simple teleprompter a week ago around 50 because I am just starting making videos.
But was very plastic, so I returned and I bought this one. BOOM this is another level, of course, is more expensive but worth every penny. Is better to make the investment if you can so you won’t have to spend twice.
Is an amazing product, well made, strong structure, with glass, bag as described.
I am so happy that I got this one that for sure will last longer.
Happy with the purchase!!!!!
This is the first time I am using one and it has improved my delivery of my talks immensely! Great product!
Just received this item, as ordered and well packaged. Setup is easy and intuitive. Glass provides crisp display at the advertised 10′. Only con to this product thus far is the reflection beyond/beneath the source screen. I’m using a 10″ tablet and at the corners of the prompter display the floor is visible which is a bit of a distraction. All in all, for the price, very pleased with this purchase.
First of all, the design is well done. I’m an engineer, and I have to say I am impressed with the simplicity but effectiveness of the design. Second, this is a sturdy product, with metal frame and structure that forms a solid basis for the camera to be mounted. Overall, the quality of this prompter is first class and I am completely pleased with my purchase.
I ordered this product for use with an iPad 2 and a Canon XA20 and it is perfect. I thought it came with a two-way mirror but it’s just a piece of glass. Nevertheless, it works beautifully. Just set the teleprompter on the tripod, set the camera on the back, set the iPad on the front, and you’re ready to go. I use the free app “GVM Teleprompter” and I purchased a Bluetooth remote to start and stop the app from a distance, and the whole setup is fantastic. I was so pleased with the quality and the packaging. The equipment is sturdy and of high quality. It comes packaged in a sturdy case with a zipper. It also includes a full-color instruction pamphlet. It was packaged in a box within a box and it arrived without a scratch. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but i was impressed! This product is well worth the price; it is so well built that it should last for decades!
I was pleased with the quality of the product and it was easy to assemble.
It comes with an attachment for a phone camera which was great and is easy to attach and centralize.
I have my text on a Kindle Fire and am able to use and adjust its position.
Able to use and read from teleprompter easily.
I am making videos from home for work and presentation purposes.
The teleprompter can stand alone on a flat surface or be fixed to a camera tripod.
It came with a very good case.
Quite a bit of money but very satisfied with the product.
I purchased the Teleprompter TMP100 to allow me to do videos and look directly into the camera while narrating my presentation. I am working in High Tech and I have been looking for an easy to install teleprompter for quite some time. The Tmp100 fulfills all my requirements. I do not need any tools to put it together, it mounts on any standard tripod, and works with DSLR cameras as well as my Sony camcorder. You have to play with the hood fabric a bit to have it tucked away such that it does not protrude into the picture though. The semi-mirror glass works like a charm and I can use any teleprompter app on my iPhone 8+ as well as on my iPad mini. This is a professionally built product, all parts are metal (no cheap plastic parts!), and everything fits together nicely. The Tmp100 comes with plenty of mounting holes for spot lights and a neat carrying bag, with protection foam for the glass. I have been using the Tmp100 for a couple of months now and have not seen any wear. I can only highly recommend the product.
I’ve only used my teleprompter once so far, but I’ve been pretty happy with it. I was looking at a few other brands, but I’m ultimately glad I went with this. The quality seems solid and it feels like it’ll hold up for a while.
I only had 2 small issues. One is that, I would have liked better glass protection for when it’s inside the carry case. It does come with 1 sheet of glass protection, but would like another for the other side of the glass. I’m a little worried about scratching the glass.
The other issue is that it didn’t come with any instructions. I had to search youtube for help setting it up. It’s somewhat straight forward without the instructions, but I couldn’t figure out how to properly secure the hood over the camera, and it also came with extra parts, which I assume are for mounting external devices to the teleprmpter like a light or mic, but I still don’t know how to use them.
Very nice and easy to setup. Large mirror easy to read, allowing multiple screen options.
I use XT2 with 18-55mm at 35mm, need to have a ball head to help lift the lense to the center of the glass. The screen I used is a low cost 4k 7″ Feelworld field monitor connect to my streaming computer.
One drawback is the hood have hard fabric; the opening cannot close tightly around a small lense. Easy fix by black tape. Anyhow, the fabric does not absorb water and do not collect dust. So, not bad at all.
De trs bonne qualit pour le prix et professionnel. Trs impressionn, je le recommande.
IT is quite expensive to me but worked as expected
The TMP 100 is very well built. We use it to tape video classes and it works well with our iPad and teleprompter software. The glass seems to be very high quality. Sturdy. The cape has a drawstring that hugs the lens. No problems with the unit.
I did have an issue that Customer Service corrected immediately: my camera sits very low on the slide tray, so when reading the script on the prompter, my wife’s eyes focused slightly above the center of the lens. Customer Service immediately sent me an attachment to the mount screw that raised the body about a half inch, which was just right.
Super solid and well made. 2 problems:
1. If your camera has a mount that’s up higher like the FX6, you’ll run into probs with positioning. Fine with say a 50mm prime but longer lenses might be a prob for avoiding the hood in shot. This could be solved by Glidegear providing a set of 4 support posts that are 1/2 height of the default but these are not available.
2. The only thing I would say isn’t great are the zips on the hood – they actually don’t seem like they will last too long and should have been heavier duty in my opinion.
For the first time using a teleprompter it was pretty easy. Didn’t have a tablet that fit the dimensions so I used my smart phone and it worked fine. Wasn’t sure in the beginning if it was more then I needed, but after using it decided it was going to be very useful in the long run. I preferred it over both reading the teleprompter and filming straight on my phone.
The Glide Gear TMP 100 is the perfect teleprompter for me. I chose the TMP 100 because I was looking for something that was easy to set up and use. I did my research and read lots of reviews on various teleprompters and was leaning toward Glide Gear. But what really sold me was Glide Gear’s customer service. I’m not very techy and had a technical question about my camera’s compatibility. So, I contacted Glide Gear’s customer service department BEFORE I was a customer! They got back to me right away and happily answered my question. They also told me to contact them anytime if I had further questions. That was going above and beyond customer service in my book – and I knew right away this is the product and company for me. I purchased my TMP100 and am very happy I did. It does everything I need it to do and is represented well in its description. I think it’s a great teleprompter, easy to assemble easy to use AND Glide Gear has outstanding customer service. What else could I ask for? Thank you Glide Gear, from a happy customer!
I bought several of these prompters for a large event. I received some older models and some newer models, all with the exact same product and model number. The newer version was MUCH better as it had adjustability for the angle of the mirror and position of the screen, however the older version had a soft hood that allowed for a larger camera, like my CX350. I kept 2 of each as some worked better than others with different cameras.
compact and easy to carry. except for the zipper everything else good.
Nice design.
Various threaded mount holes for various ways of using it.
Works very well for me with a normal size ipad.
The tablet cradle works well.
I can see the text clearly and the way the unit can fold up and store in its supplied soft case is good enough for when I need to take it to my other office location by car.
(I would not want to travel via train or plane with it though.
It would need a separate flight case for that.)
I fitted a hot shoe quick mount to the base and used another one for my camcorder to mount onto this.
(“Neewer Adapter & Quick Release Plate Professional Aluminum Alloy with 1/4″&3/8″ Screws for Digital SLR Camcorders”).
All in all, it has helped me no end when producing my scripted company product info videos.
My eyes dont wander around anymore like they used to.
Recommended.
I bought the TMP100, 10.5 x 9.5 inches.
— The build quality is great, and I am well pleased with it, especially for the price point, compared to other similar products in plastic.
— I use it with my mirrorless camera and have no problems with it nor with the lens.
Does the job as expected. The carry bag is also well made and actually useful when you want to store the teleprompter.
It worked! It was easy to set up. Built really solid. It was everything I expected. The case is a little on the cheap side, but the foam the unit sits in protects it well. The instructions were clear with lots of photos. I used it with an iPad Air and the image was large enough that I didn’t need to wear my glasses. Too bad I wasn’t as good on camera as the teleprompter was a working.
This arrived today and I was pleasantly surprised how sturdy it is. I am using with a phone to record and it took a bit of fiddling to figure out the best position for it but it works well. It included an extension arm for phones so you can have the phone camera centred which was a nice bonus. Am using with an iPad, PromptSmart Pro and a Rde Smartlav+ and am very happy with the results. I’ve never a different telepromp setup so have nothing to compare it with but am very happy with this. The case is nice too.
Purchased this after my wife filmed a commercial and the crew had a teleprompter. She immediately told me to buy one for her own YouTube channel and website where she records cooking videos. Wasn’t really sure which one to get but this one looked good. Upon arrival I was very impressed. The workmanship is great, fit and finish are top notch. I had no need for the instructions to figure it out, it’s intuitive, but the instructions are clear. Nice, heavy duty teleprompter that should last a lifetime (unless I drop it and break the glass). I am using a 10″ iPad for the script display and it works very well. My wife is extremely happy. I highly recommend this teleprompter.
Pretty much perfect for the job, good case, easy setup, flexible arrangements. Just note that you have to buy a app somewhere to get the text moving on your device. There are free options for that though. I would buy again 😉
This teleprompter took our video creation time way down. What a massive time saver! It is very sturdy and flexible, able to accommodate large cameras and smartphones. I do wish there was a mounting point on the top for lighting.
Easy to assemble; sturdy as well. I use a Sony 24-70 f/2.8 lens which rest on the frame. I would have liked if the camera was mounted on an elevated base that allowed some clearance for the lens.
I bought this when I was filming a course. It was the best bit of kit I bought. I would highly recommend it.
The Positive:
1) Its great and the only product I found that was built well and had a low price point. It feels premium as well when you put it in your hands. I would not say 200$ is a justified price, 120$ is the correct price in my opinion, but capitalism is capitalism, what can you do.
2) It works as described in the video and as shown on the website.
The Negative:
1) It is a bit small and larger teleprompter real estate would be nice.
2) It works better with lens cameras as oppose to phones. With phones it takes a long time to set up the black covering so that it isn’t in the video. This is partly because the cellphone camera is off center and it is really shallow. What I mean by shallow is that a regular camera has a lens that extends past the chassis which allows you to easily wrap the black covering over the lens, but with a phone, it isn’t that simple. Yes you can put the black covering over the phone, but the fabric still bends and ends up in the frame and it is really time consuming to get it out of frame.
This teleprompter met my expectations. All metal construction. Once connected to the tripod it was sturdy. Glass was quality. I used it with my 2016 iPad mini. The iPad fit easily into the teleprompter. The glass is large enough for most projects. I would recommend it. As advertised. The ccarrying case is a good bonus. Pull the trigger on this one if you need just the basics.
The teleprompter is sturdy and came with a nice carrying bag. It is on the heavier side due to its size which is a good thing actually as the camera feels secured when placed in the position. Just make sure you buy a solid tripod if you are using this teleprompter as a basic tripod might not sustain the pressure.
Exceeded my expectations. This was very easy to set up and it came with a nice carrying case!
I was so happy to get this unboxed and assembled. It was easy to set up with clear directions. It’s very sturdy and easy to use. I’m using the Nano Teleprompter App with it and it’s exactly what I expected and was looking for.
The only downside I see to the TMP100 is the weight. It’s a bit heavy by itself and a bit odd to balance on the tripod. For that reason I rated it 4 stars overall.
I just launched an eLearning business and didn’t use a teleprompter for my first course. My first round of feedback made it clear that a teleprompter should be a priority, so I began researching the market and looked at a LOT of teleprompters. Before deciding on the GlideGear TMP100, I emailed the manufacturer to understand more about how it would work and could align with my required uses.
I’d seen competitors’ products and was expecting something similar, but then the package arrived and wow! This thing is built like a tank. Lightweight but feels very strong – and SO well packaged – the case is amazing and will keep it in good shape.
But the proof is in the prompting, and when I fired it up I was amazed at the clarity of the text. It works great and the image shoots perfectly through the screen.
I cannot recommend this product highly enough – it’s a critical part of my toolset as a course developer.
Up front, this is only the second teleprompter unit I’ve ever worked with, so my experience is limited. The first one was a high-end all-in-one expensive (built in electronic display, etc) piece that I rented for one shoot, so it doesn’t really count. In other words, this is the first (and so far only) bring-your-own-tablet unit I’ve ever used.
At any rate, I do like this prompter. I wish the height/thickness was adjustable like the TMP 500, but you get what you pay for. The base is built quite solidly, and the screws fit securely.
It has a few small drawbacks that are worth mentioning. First, the vertical plates holding the side screws and pull tabs are wider than they need to be to fit the glass, which means they bend in awkwardly when you’re securing the screws. It also means those screws have a hard time meeting and properly nesting with the receiving end. It’s not arduous, but it is a bit awkward.
Also, when you’re pulling the spring tabs out to raise the glass into place, be mindful that if you don’t release them before letting go of the glass that the glass will drop down and hit the tablet mount. The good news for me: the glass was unaffected. Let’s hope you’re as lucky.
And speaking of the tablet mount, I find the release screws can accidentally be unscrewed from the unit far too easily. You just have to be careful not to go too far with the screws when releasing the tablet mount slider.
Apart from that, yes, I do like the unit. I DON’T like that it came smelling like cigarette smoke, but c’est la vie.
This thing was one of the best investments I have made for my YouTube channel. I do guitar tech review and instructional videos and usually write scripts for them. Glancing at a laptop or tablet while recording was a pain. It led to long recordings and editing times. After spending hours editing a 22 minute video, I decided to finally pull the plug on this thing, and oh man was it worth it.
The unit is pretty well built, lots more metal than I expected. It supports my GH5 with a decent sized Meike Cine lens no problem. Simple to set up. I had it on a tripod in minutes. I spent the most time finding a good teleprompter app and getting that set up. I bought the Nano Teleprompter app for my Samsung Tab S4. I sat about 3ft away from the camera, placed the tablet in portrait mode (so the text was more centered on the screen), and it’s hard to see my eyes move at all while reading.
I usually record 3-4x of the final video length. The first time I used it, I recorded 7.5 minutes for a 5 minute video. Finished editing it in no time. Absolutely worth it!
Only caveat is that I was within arms reach of the tablet, so I could easily move the text back when I fumbled over words.
I use this product for my kids school projects and for promotional ads for our software product. It works as advertised. The build quality is sturdy and the glass is completely invisible. A great tool to pair with my DSLR.
I did a lot of research before buying a teleprompter. While I will be using this with a DSLR camera I primarily hoped to pair a teleprompter with a webcam, so I had a little trepidation getting this despite the reviews.
I needn’t have worried. With just a little care in placing the webcam in the teleprompter I was able to get great video. I paired the teleprompter with Smart Prompt Pro on an iPad and got crisp clear video and perfectly delivered lines without breaking eye contact with the camera. Frankly I’ve used a professional teleprompter in a studio, and this delivers everything that did in a portable format at a fraction of the cost.
If you’re looking to up your video game with scripted content this is the teleprompter to help you do that!
Received in just 2 days, everything works out just as expected, great!
I had to wait a little while for the product, however it works very well. Has cut down my vidoe making time.
I am starting a series of online technical training courses and needed to set up my recording infrastructure at a really affordable cost. I already had a Cannon Vixia HFR800 camcorder, Apple Mac with Keynote, and a camera tripod. So just needed an affordable and high quality teleprompter. After reading reviews and watching a few YouTube videos on how to create video podcasts there was pretty much consensus that short of spending thousands of dollars on professional studio grade teleprompter the Glide Gear TMP100 would fit my needs. Well it did. It comes with a really nice and well padded carry case about the size of a stadium cushion. The unit is folded compactly when it arrives and really in not more than 10 minutes I was able to get it set up. You do have to fiddle with the blackout canvas to fit securely over the camera but no big deal. It works well for my needs using an already owned 10 inch iPad for the software app. I’m still fiddling with different teleprompter apps so not yet settled on anyone in particular. For my purposes and an for extremely low budget I effectively have a compact and portable video studio with my Cannon, Mac and now Glide Gear TMP100. I hope it works for you too.
Good product. It does what it is supposed to do. Note: iPad Pro is too big for this model. It can only fit smaller iPads.
This well-built kit does what you want at an affordable price. Nice to include a good carrier case. A solid choice!
I have received it last week and it looks great. easy to install and use
This is a great product. It’s sturdy, and I like the fact that it comes with a padded carrying case – which is a crucial thing, b/c you really don’t want to carry (or store) a glass item in anything that is not padded.
Almost everything about it is good.
There is one part that I wish it provided.
It assumes that you have a big tripod with a cheeseboard and screw and nut to fasten the screw. Well, for me, I just have a cheaper tripod with just the screw sticking out. If that’s the case, then you can’t fasten the teleprompter onto it, because it just has holes, and it expects the “nut” part that will screw on top to be provided by the tripod.
Guess I could buy a $100 tripod, and it’s true that usually, if you own a DSLR and want to use something like this, you would have a more expensive tripod. But in my case, I was going to use this with my decent webcam, so that’s why I have a cheapo tripod. So I wished that they would provide some kind of an adapter so that I could install this onto a cheaper type of tripod.
But besides that, I think this product is solid.
Like everyone, I’ve been spending LOTS of time on Zoom, WebEx, Facebook Live, NameYourStreamingAppHere… It’s bothersome when I want to give people eye contact, but need to “look at the camera” to do that. I’ve also been working on using OBS to link my Canon DSLR to streaming for conference and music performance.
Let’s face it. Today’s home office needs to optimize our presence to try and reproduce something approaching in-real-life meetings. This is an investment, but if you’re on a dozen web calls a week, in four months, that’s a buck a call. Then it’s free after that.
This thing is super easy to set up. If you’ve got an old iPad sitting around, run it under the teleprompter to show the lovely faces of the people you’re connecting with. Now you can look at them while you’re meeting!
I just received my teleprompter and was very impressed with the way that it was packaged in its carrying case!
This arrived quickly and the materials are solid metal. The setup was easy (you have to read slowly and carefully, but once you set it up once it’s easy).
This works quite well with the App on my phone and iPad – you can see the text while looking directly at the camera. I tried some other ways of doing this, but they all made me look like I was reading off to the side (or above) – this allows for direct “eye contact” with the audience.
Final video looks great – I’m also green screening my background and there are no artifacts at all. So the set-up is a win for me.
I first got into videography with my smartphone. I learned that there was a whole branch of equipment specifically one can use for iphone videography. I in turn found glide gear. Loved the build of it so years later, when I find this teleprompter, I knew it would be a good buy. It is a great product and I stand by it.
Only one problem: the metal frame was just fractions of a centimeter off, so when it goes into its 45 degree angle, its kind of hard to screw it in place.
This functions pretty well, and I’ve used it several times now. It’s a game changer to have a teleprompter, I use it for nearly all of my videos. A few things to note with this one…
The construction is not optimal, some of the holes are misaligned and it’s hard to keep the prompter at the correct angle.
The fabric smelt of cigarette smoke when I received it and sometimes falls in front of the lens despite using the cord and the neck.
It would be nice if the case had a cardboard insert between the fabric to make it more sturdy.
Great value for the money and I’d recommend it for a budget teleprompter.
I am using this Teleprompter with a Sony A7III, 70-200 lens and an Atomos Ninja V recorder. There is plenty of room for the camera and lens. Pull the camera and lens away from the mirror as it will help counter balance the rig.
I bought Teleprompter Premium program to use with my I pad Pro 11″. The I pad has an Otter box Defender case and fits very well. . I don’t think a 12″ I pad would fit. I control the speed and reset the text to begin again with my I pod touch 7. If you have an I phone you can use it as a controller as well. This is quick, handy and instantly connects.
The mirror takes about 1/3 of a stop away. I was a bit nervous as to how many stops the mirror would take. Glad to say that it does not bring down expose that much. I was afraid of color shifting. I don’t know how Glide Gear did it but my recordings on my Atomos Ninja V are as clean as if I was not shooting through a mirror.
I get a lot of compliments on the rig. I can’t tell you how many times I come into a job and the actor sees the prompter and is instantly relieved. No more actors wondering eyes, looking away from the lens or stopping delivery as someone is flashing cue cards. It has made my shoots more productive, easy and stress free. Glide Gear made a hit with this product. I highly recommend this Teleprompter.
Really happy with this mid level teleprompter. The mirror is very clear and easy to read text off of, and is completely clear when looking through the other side with the camera. Relatively easy to set up and is a good size. Would recommend this teleprompter to anyone.
Real happy with the purchase. For those of you who have a battery pack grip and large plates on the bottom of your camera, you can unscrew the top shelf of the teleprompter, and place your camera on the base instead. The base has lots of threaded holes to screw in any standard size camera screws or plates. I also purchased an arca swiss quick release clamp screwed to the plate of the teleprompter for the camera (no screwing my camera on and off), and I screwed in an arca swiss plate at the bottom to attached the teleprompter to my tripod base. Everything comes off and on easily, and anything is really possible to make everything fit the way this thing is designed. For software, I spent the 20 bucks on the Prompsmart Pro app, and it works great. You will need the Pro version instead of the free version because only the Pro inverts the text on mirror. No need for the studio version which is a subscription. Only 20 bucks for iphone/ipad version, but they charge a subscription fee for the android version (makes no sense). The voice activation is also awesome, but you will need an external mic if you use an ipad, iphone, or other tablet. Be sure to get a TRRS to TRS 3.5mm cable adaptor if you do get an external mic (not a TRRS to TRRS). I spent days researching this stuff, and this really is best quality package you can put together for the least amount of money.
I will definitely be using this for years to come! I was impressed with it’s simplicity and design. It doesn’t take long to set up. It simply unfolds. Their is no assembly other than putting on the camera and the baseplate. It is secure and rigid. I used a sony a7s with the 70-200 lens. It use an 8″ Samsung Galaxy Tab A SM-T350. The Prompter software I use is free, no ads, and is called Remote Prompter made by QuArt Studio. I have a bluetooth keyboard that connects to the tablet to control the software. The tablet fit securely and attached easily. The teleprompter came with soft case with foam and it was easy to get back into the case. It also comes with single page instructions. I’ve used several teleprompters over the years and this has been my favorite. Highly recommend!
I received the package and just with the packaging I was impressed.
Box in a box with proper protection.
Then to the carrying case, that was filled with proper padding, there was no way the glass could have broken during freight, which I was concerned. But not to worry.
The unit requires zero assembly, it comes fully assembled and thanks to it, I was up and running in less than 5 minutes.
I was on a deadline to do an internal Corporate video that I wanted to redo it, so my “side of the camera” reading motion would be taken away and thanks to the fast delivery and immediate set-up, I was able to get a revised version done just in time.
I love when products deliver more than expected and this one does the job.
On my ipad, I got the “TeleprompterPremium” app from Joe Allen and I manually control the text scrolling with a bluetooth mouse while using the accessibility touch option on the Ipad settings, and voila!
Best 200$ investment ever.
I strongly suggest you get a sturdy tripod with ball head. Any flimsy tripod adapter that might be plastic will be over-stressed.
Product was dispatched ASAP and is exactly as described in the pictures.
I do a lot of professional videography and occasionally need a teleprompter. This was absolutely perfect for my needs, it folds down quickly and works well with my Canon C300. I’ve had it for about a month, used it every other day and so far no problems. Good value 🙂
This thing literally cuts hours off my acquisition times!! I can get through a 15-minute script in about three tries, compared to it sometimes taking me more than two hours. And if working with a client, it’s so much faster, so their costs go down – even though learning to use a teleprompter is a skill all on its own… but still easier to get through than trying to get them to memorize their script in small chunks.
So, I started down the path, looking at home-made teleprompters using picture frames and glass, but sourcing beamsplitter glass locally wasn’t as cheap as you’d think, and at the end of the day, you still end up with a jenky setup that you still have to figure out how to mount to your tripod.
The Glid Gear mounts to the tripod without a hitch, has an adapter to mount the camera to the TelePrompter so you end up with a pretty stable setup. I should ding it a star for the hood being a little finicky, and you have to be careful when rotating the glass into position, it can fall onto itself and potentially break the glass, but at this price point, I’m so happy with item that I just can’t bring myself to downgrade the rating.
I have a 4th Generation iPad (Model A1458). There are adjustable rails that slide in and out to support the device. The were about a 1/4″ too short to fit my iPad. I ended up having to use my Dremel to grind away the channels on each of the rails. It wasn’t pretty, but it worked. My iPad was made in 2012 so perhaps they weren’t counting on people using something that old. There is enough room on each of the rails to allow for an older/slightly larger iPad so I am not sure why they just didn’t design it to fit all iPads. So I would check the dimensions and model of your iPad and contact the company to see if it fits your tablet.
Other than having to slightly cutomize my unit, it operates as advertised. It seems to be decently built. It’s not a tank but it is sturdy. It’s a bit clumsy to manage and set up but it doesn’t take long to figure it out. I wouldn’t plan on getting it delivered the day of a job. Get in a couple of days prior to get used to set up and tear down so you don’t look like a clumsy fool in front of clients.
Most teleprompter option are grossly overpriced. The TMP 100, relatively speaking, is low cost but seems overpriced to me. It comes with a padded carrying case which makes travelling with the unit easy. If you are looking for a low cost but workable teleprompter option I would recommend this product.
Muy funcional para el precio. Aun para producciones semiprofesionales …perfecto
Muy ligero y transportable
La construccin es buena pero podra ser mejor.
El Ipad 2 no ajusta bie
We shoot a lot of of promos with news talent (anchors, reporters) at various locations outside of our studio. The Glide Gear TMP100 Teleprompter makes this work far simpler. Now we don’t have to shoot line by line, waiting for talent to memorize the next block of copy on the fly. We’ve shot eight pieces in the field so far with a Sony FS7. My DP was happy because the fabric cover did not block his access to aperture and focus on the lens. I was happy because the copy on the teleprompter was easy for talent to read even on a bright sunny day without shade or silks. My only reservation is the fact that the Glide Gear TMP100 did not come with teleprompter software for the tablet. Not even a recommendation for software. We had to research online to find one. Other than that, excellent design, solid materials, professional construction and a really useful carrying case. I am glad to have made this purchase.
Easy to transport. Easy to install. Works like it should.
Awesome device that works great with my iPad. I am a freelance videographer and had a video shoot that required a teleprompter for the client to read documents. This came in handy and really impressed the client. The only problem I had was the apps to use on my iPad. I first downloaded the “Teleprompter Premium” app by JoeAllenPro Limited. After downloading the app it said to get documents via Dropbox. After sending the clients documents to Dropbox (PDF files), the app would not download one of the PDF files. Every time I’d tried, the app would crash. I sent the app developer a message and they never got back to me. I then purchased PromptSmart as a back up plan. I got the other app to work by converting the PDF file to Word Document. Also, be advised the PromptSmart app does NOT accept PDF files. I also do some acting in the local area and this device will also work great when I have to do auditions that require long scripts to read. With this device, no more having to memorize scripts for those short notice self-taped auditions.
Good price. All metal. Works well.
My feedback about the product:
1) The metal bracket that traverses perpendicular is a bit thin and tends to bend slightly when an iPad is set in place. This causes the iPad reflected image to be slightly tilted. That bracket is doing double duty: holding up the raised mirror and cradling the display device. Not a show stopper, but the gauge should be increased considering the load it’s taking.
2) I am a bit concerned about the threads of the bolts that fasten the mirror when raised. The thin threaded shanks don’t appear strong enough to withstand many fastenings, such as transporting the unit from location to location. They seem a bit small considering the load they are taking when the mirror is raised. And, one cross thread and its wasted. Again, not a show stopper, just use care.
3) The base for the camera is a low for DSLR’s. They obviously wanted the unit to accommodate a camcorder. I corrected this by adding a block to raise my Canon 6D about an inch, which put the lens in the middle of the mirror, which I prefer.
4) The bellows is stitched well and is good material. Be sure to use the draw string clasp to hold the bellows around the lens, but the clasp winds up at the bottom of the lens where there is not much room remaining.
5) The bellows blocks the remote IR sensor of my Canon 6D. Not a big deal, just worth noting.
6) Be sure to mount this rig (the prompter, camera & tablet) on a STRONG tripod. The rig is top heavy.
In conclusion, the TMP-100 is well designed considering it’s price. It works well. There are some design weaknesses that could shorten its use-life in a busy studio. But for casual use, no need to pay $500+ for teleprompter with this unit available.
It is almost perfect. Other than the small adjustable bottom wich is geting out of the GlideGear everything works great.
Works great with my iPad and Teleprompter app. Very sturdy and easy to use. Just make sure you clean the glass of packaging dust before you use it 🙂
EDIT: Two years later, still in use. I’ve made hundreds of videos using this teleprompter.
EDIT II: Four years later, still going strong.
As a professional actor I’ve read from several different professional teleprompters. Now I make videos on my own. I chose the Glide Gear because I was impressed with their website presentation, and I hoped the their product would be as good. I wasn’t disappointed. Even still in the box I was impressed with the look and feel. While it took me a while to completely warm up to it, it’s now a big part of my life.
Assembly was easy and straightforward. I would advice any one to clean the glass before hand. While I was a little amused by the “camera in a bag” approach, I now rarely think about it. My only complaint would be that I had to remove my camera’s battery cover in order to slide batteries in and out (my camera operates on batteries only).
Absolutely fantastic – works out cheaper than using a proper teleprompter!
for the price you can’t beat this. If you have an iPad and you are in production, this is a no brainer piece of gear. I’ve seen people change their minds about how confident they are that they can talk directly to camera with no prompting. Then on the day before or the day of shooting, they change their minds, and its too late to get a teleprompter operator. Or there is simply not enough money for a teleprompter operator because its a very small project. Having this in the back pocket totally saves the shoot day. The hardware is good if you are using a tiny camera like a DSLR. A teleprompter operator is still worth every penny, but sometimes you just don’t have the luxury, and this is a great stopgap. I use this with teleprompt+ for iPad and laptop, which is a little glitchy but gets the job done with good options. My favorite thing about this product is how simple it is to setup, and how adjusting the image hight is just a matter of nudging the iPad on the tray up or down a little. Its very simple to use.
Great system for the price. Everything works nice and its solid build. Only issue was one of the spring pins is jammed….but it will do fine for now.
Works great for what it is, and is probably the best value that you’ll find for a teleprompter on the internet. The adjustable rack will hold any size tablet. The frame, tripod rack and adjustable sliding tablet holder are sturdy and well built. It even comes with a very nice carrying case, which is a nice touch. I’m happy with this purchase. There are a few issues that I would raise, however (which made me give 4 rather than 5 stars):
1. The locking mechanism (a threaded hand turned screw) is obstructed by the black canvas cover. There is a hole cut out in the cover to allow the screw to pass and screw into the frame of the glass, however the hole is cut in the wrong place and does not line up with the screw or the frame hole. Of the two screws (one on either side) I was only able to get one side to line up with the frame screw hole, and had to cut another hole into the canvas to do so. The other side will not line up at all. This is a quality control issue.
2. The black canvas light blocking cover has a pull string design that tightens over the lens of your camera. This is great in that it will adjust for any camera or lens size, and will fit onto whatever you put on it. The problem is that the fabric of the cover tends to sag and cover up the lens. Before each shoot, I have to pull the fabric back and fold the excess over the lens to try to keep it from sagging in front of the camera’s view. No matter how hard I try, there is at least a small bit of the cover that hangs down in front of the lens, so I keep a clip to hold it back.
3. With wide angle lenses, you may see the frame of the teleprompter in the field of view. Zoom in slightly to compensate, and this problem disappears.
Here’s the thing, a pro level teleprompter with a fixed cover and/or fixed lens mount will cost you 3-5 times the price of the glide gear. Even with the the issues I stated above, I can’t justify spending that much more money on a system that does basically the same thing that this one does. In the end, it’s just a piece of two-way glass reflecting your tablet’s screen.
The most important thing to be concerned with when purchasing a beamsplitter type teleprompter such as this is the quality of the glass and the amount of light that is allowed to pass through to your camera lens. Some of the really cheap teleprompters use cheap glass that will block a significant amount of light and degrade your overall picture quality. (This is 70/30 glass)
I just received my teleprompter on 1/06/16 (prompt delivery) and I love this Glide Gear already. I have had the chance to play with it and adjust the glass as it allows me. I really like that it is made of metal, reassures me that its going to withstand and hold my camera and my tablet. I really like the fact that the screws to the glass are easily accessible Just In Case (my favorite words) something were to happen. The cover is nice and snug around the glass letting No light in and adjusts to the different sizes of my camera lenses! The Adjustments for my tablet and the camera are very helpful because I have a 10″ and a 7″ tablet and they both fit perfectly well. I would have liked some kind of rubber or “sticky” (for lack of a better word) for the bars where the tablet sits so I don’t have to worry IF it slides off. This is not a bad note for me, but merely a helpful suggestion.
My only question, and maybe I just didn’t see this explained, is what do I use to keep my camera attached to the back side? I will double check the description but not sure if it’s there. If someone could Please get back to me about this I would greatly appreciate it!
