Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI have not flown anything apart from paper aeroplanes and I didn’t want to lose my drone on its first flight, which happened to my brother some years ago on his scenic tour in Japan. So I did my research and decided on the HS720g, there are many useful videos both official and personal reviews for this drone that I found useful for a total beginner like myself. It isn’t the cheapest or most advanced drone on Amazon, however, considering what it can do and I think it’s good value with great features and specifications, yes I would like it to have obstacle avoidance, but it actually makes me more aware of where I should or shouldn’t fly.
If you want it to take to the sky multiple times a day, I would recommend you to get a spare battery as it takes 5 hours to fully charge which is something I am aware of so it doesn’t bother me.
The HS720g is a great all round drone with impressive features and I would recommend it.

In today’s world, speed is the king. I emailed Holy Stone and there was a message saying “we will reply within 24 hours” and yes they did well within that in fact, even though the email was sent on Sunday. Within 12 hours if the message was sent via whatsapp. I wish all companies could do that.

I purchased this drone after researching others and looking at reviews on tech websites. First impressions after unboxing were good and looked like a quality item.
Set up was pretty straight forward after reading the instructions a few times but there are lots of videos on YouTube which I went through.
This drone had all the features I wanted, stable but quality video and the gps function to enable it to fly a preselected route around my property.
All in all a very good purchase and I’m looking forward to flying it more over the coming yea

I’m really thankful for the support and information from Holy Stone customer service that I have received in helping me purchase my new drone.

Would be nice if a spare battery were included.

The drone is very simple to use and has a lot of features which you usually only can find in a higher end drone. The gimbal is perfect, battery power is for around 25 min. Contact customer service for spare parts and the was very responsible and helpful.Totally worth for money.

    Good value for money

Its not bad… drone quality, build and performance for this rate isnt bad. Im sure people giving negative reviews have their reasons but its pretty good.

We put off getting a drone for years due to fear of failure. After researching we went with Holy Stone
    HS720G.
We feel so confident with this drone. It has fail-safes and is perfect for novices and advanced.
So looking forward to exploring our locale from a high vantage with 4k video.

Make sure your mobile is compatible with 5GHz WiFi Transmission.

First thing I noticed as I unboxed was the high quality case enabling me to take it anywhere comfortably and confidently.
the HS 720G does not in anyway resemble a toy. very solid build. does not feel “plasticy”.
On the first flight, after calibration, I hit the take off button and it hovered perfectly still at 5 feet.
A few years back I dabbled with some toy drones and found them stressful. with this model I can take my hands off the controls and focus on all the exciting features on the well developed app…return home, follow me, point of interest etc. The GPS was very accurate.
The real surprise is the quality of the photos/videos. Even on a grey London day every thing was so clear and smooth. The controller is sturdy and comfortable and holds my iPhone 12 with no problems.
got 25 minutes of highly enjoyable responsive flight. I can’t wait for a sunny day somewhere special!
I highly recommend this quality product.
I had some questions about calibration (I didn’t read the instructions properly!!) and the customer service within the app was excellent. I got a response immediately.

This drone is very simple to use and has a lot of features which you’d usually only find in a higher end drone.

The gimbal is perfect for nice steady video footage and still photographs.

I’d highly recommend this drone to any beginner or intermediate drone users.

It also has great battery life with 26 mins flying time for each battery.

I like the design and camera gimble which is very useful but battery life could do a little bit better at longer in flight. Recommended for beginners and experience user.

This is a great little drone for first timers, it’s very fast so be sure to have it in low mode to begin with and also set your altitude and distance restrictions to ensure not to lose it.

I have a micro camper and so my partner and I are away to the north of Scotland a lot which is where I will get most of my drone flights. It’s such good fun to fly this drone.

Make sure gps is always switched on, and BEGINNER MODE.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersYour perfect memories begin right after you switch on the HS720G! Read HS720G online previews and videos carefully. Note the G in the model description. This is the one you need to get! Purchased Nov 2022. This is the full package even for a beginner. Does exactly what it says on the tin, and more! Easy to set up and fly, and surprisingly so for kids. Great assurance it won’t fly off if out of range. Returns home to where it started by pressing home button. What you read is what you get! An intelligent drone well worth the cost. Wouldn’t dream of buying a cheaper one! Even put this to the test in winter and slight (ok, a little more o;) winds and this drone still keeps itself in place with powerful motors. Great video/photo with the gimball keeping everything steady in anything you throw at this. A photographer’s dream. Absolutely no complaints. Then the big disappointment is if you want to continue the fun, a second battery is a must have to create those timeless moments. However, it’s impossible to get a holy stone battery delivered to Ireland! Hence the 4 stars! Do consider that you will eventually need even a replacement battery to get full value out of this drone.

I do love this as my second drone and it’s very capable of getting great images and video footage it has return to home and is very good in wind I find its easy to follow and keep track with the leds on the battery and is built very sturdy

    Great drone and great images

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersBought this drone as my first drone. I glad I purchased this particular model from Holy Stone. I made extensive research and found that this particular model HS720G is the most advanced drone you can buy from Holy Stone and at the same time it is suitable for both beginners as myself and professionals. So plan to stick to this drone for a long time.

Also from Holy Stone shop I can see that they specially specialized in all types of drones and have spare components for sale as well. This tells me they are serious about their products line.

In addition to above I also like:

1). Drone is easy to operate – however allow plenty of time to get used to controls button.

2). Drone will save pictures and videos on both your mobile (which is handy) and also in its internal memory. The best quality pictures and videos stored on internal memory card and info recorded direct on the card and no need to transmit signal to mobile phone. I bought SanDisk 128GB Extreme PRO microSDXC card + SD adapter card on Amazon and it works just fine.

3). There are other drones on the market with almost the same or slightly better functions as this drone, but they appear to be many times more expensive, much more expensive that this drone. So ratio of functionality vs price makes it easy to choose this drone from Holy Stone.

As drone is above 250 grams you do need to obtain a license to operate drone in UK. But test is easy to pass (just google training and test to operate drones in internet) and license cost is very cheap 10. So I arranged all this in just one day.

Overall very happy with my purchase and looking forward to capture many great videos and photos. I love exploring beautiful nature and various historic places so looking forward to use my drone to record those lifetime moments.

Very good quality drone. Easy to maneuver and feels solid

Bought this drone for work. Found it easy to set up and fly right out of the box.

Camera quality directly on the phone is not as I expected but I’ve been advised to use an SD card for better quality. Altho I’ve yet to try it.

Will upload new camera footage once memory card is used.

All the features I’ve tried so far have worked great and even tho I’ve never flown a drive before this was super easy to get used to.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersStraight from the box this seemed like a great quality item, it comes in a well built protective case with a carry handle. Inside is the drone – ready for use as soon as the battery is charged – remote control (2xAA batteries required), manual and spare rotors. Just one battery though, where the previous version (HS720E) was shipped with two batteries. That would have been nice given the short flying time.

I’d definitely recommend watching some YouTube review videos while waiting for it to arrive which will give you an idea of how to operate the drone. The manual has a lot of easy to follow instructions, but it’s translated into English and some parts are translated better than others. There also seems to be a few functions not covered in the manual that you can discover by watching a few videos and playing with the settings on the controller.

If this is your first drone, start in Beginner mode (settings in the Ophilia app) which puts a limit on how far and high the drone will fly. Once you’re happy with the controls turn this off and go into Tripod (normal/slow) mode and get used to that before you try Sport/fast mode.

Any photos/videos you take with the drone are stored in an onboard MicroSD card (not supplied) and in the Ophilia app. I connected the card to my phone and iPad and Canon camera after the first flight and they all said the card was empty, but 6GB of data had been used. I put it in a laptop which said there was an error with the card that needed repairing and I was eventually able to retrieve the photos and videos. Although you can also get them from the app I found the quality wasn’t as as good as on the SD card, so well worth investing in a good one. I’ve seen other people saying they couldn’t get the SD card to work, so be prepared for it to be a bit temperamental and try it on a computer if you have any issues.

Great first drone, very easy to get going

I had hoped to write this review some time ago, but due to various problems namely living very close to an airport, bad weather conditions and my wife’s ongoing medical issues I have been unable to get out and about to fly my drone.
However I have had it running and hovering in my back garden so I have been able to get a feel for how it works and handles (being new to this I really need a lot of practice).
I am very impressed with the quality and construction of the drone as it looks and feels robust. The controls are straight forward to use and the drone responds well to the remote control, which is just what a newbie needs, simple and uncomplicated to understand.
The one issue I had was that the instructions were not 100% correct as to connecting your phone, but after contacting the help line this was resolved and I believe the instructions are being amended to reflect the changes. Brilliant customer service too.
I would definitely recommend this to someone who is considering getting into drone flying as I don’t think there is anything better out there at this sort of price point.
Looking forward to getting out now to fly it properly in the very near future.

Replaced a HS710 with a 720G. Both drones are easy to fly, even for a beginner. Like the 710, it copes very well with gusting winds. We flew both in +/- 20 Mph winds. On paper the 720G should cope with windier conditions, though I’d be reluctant to take it out in more blustery weather. It’s a little heavier than than the 710 and that should make it more stable. Connecting phone with drone wifi was a breeze and as (in beginner/GPS mode) flight is so stable it’s reasonably easy to set camera to take photographs or video while hovering or moving slowly. The app is very easy to use. Battery life is good. Around 20 min flight time on one battery. Battery takes hours to charge and it only comes with one (the 710 has two). Image stabilisation and the twin axis gimbal improves video quality over the 710.
A second battery would be very useful to allow more than 20min use at a time – recharging battery takes hours – but at 70 that increases the cost substantially over the 710 making that one much better value, in my opinion.

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersAs a total beginner, I didn’t want to spend a fortune on a drone and find I didn’t use it enough or found it too difficult to use/fly. Years ago, I had one of those helicopters that were all the rage and I could never get the thing to fly right – it sits in a cupboard now. Read lots of reviews and decided this Holystone was the best compromise of cost and ability. A Black Friday deal made it easier and its looking promising. The drone comes in an amazing quality case, feels like whale skin or something exotic :-). First setup was easy once I got the right app – there are several versions of the Ophelia app and this 720G needs the Ophelia Fly (not Ophelia Go). First flight was in my kitchen, just using the one-touch take-off option and was very impressive; just hovered perfectly, very cool. Landed perfectly as well. I’ve only been for one outdoor flight so far and it was awesome; so easy to fly – it just stays in one position if you don’t touch the sticks unlike normal RC planes which need continual input to keep flying. This thing will just sit there until the battery runs out, so easy.

I was worried about the range it could be controlled but I really don’t think this will be a problem – I went up 5m (left the drone in beginner mode) and the view on the camera was lovely and I can legally go up to 120m! Not tested horizontal range but the specs say 500m which might not sound much but I’ve seen a video of a guy going about 150m and it looked very far with no loss of signal – I think it will be a while before the range will be an issue for me.

So I would definitely recommend this for a beginner as it is so easy to use and great value.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersGot this for my Dad as a birthday gift, not being sure if he’d like it, or think it was too complicated to set up/ use. But, he loves it!

He spent days being excited by reading the manual and watching videos on how to fly it etc. before he tried his own one. However, he was so excited he decided to fly it even without the app connection (not recommended, ha). He still had great fun and it made him very eager to set up the app on his phone.

I’ve never had a drone myself either, so I was a bit daunted by setting it up and wondered how complex it’d be, but I have to say, it was very clear and straightforward! My Dad has a Samsung J3 2016/17 and it wouldn’t pick up the WiFi from the drone -but that seems to be his phone, not the drone, as a Samsung s8, apple iPad and Google pixel 3a picked it up no problem.

Even with this, my Dad loves the drone so much, he’s going to get a new phone to fly it! Ha.

He loves the drone and we are so impressed by the packaging, remote and drone itself! The camera clarity is great and as beginners, we are very impressed! We’d a slight crash but that was my fault, yet the drone is fine and well built, no damage.

Overall, I’m so happy with the purchase for my Dad. Granted, we’ve not used it lots yet, so I can’t comment on long-term functionality but our first impressions are that it’s a great drone and happy to recommend 🙂

Holystone are easily contactable and helpful, so don’t worry about being left on your own if need help!

Easy set up easy to use control and great ophelia app to use. Packed with features it makes flying this drone easy. Only down side is the low flight time , approx 20 mins but weighing that against the cost and build of the product it’s a no brainer for a first drone. Supplied with it’s own smart carry case l will be having lots of fun.

    Outstanding drone for a novice

This is an excellent drone for both beginners and experts. It’s got nearly all the features of more expensive drones like the DJI ones at a much lower price !
As long as you make sure you read and re-read the manual fully you won’t have any issues. It was easy to setup and the controller connects seamlessly to the drone and my phone to the drones WiFi
It’s got a very stable flight pattern and I particularly like the beginner mode ( that’s me ! ) and the return to home button – just remember in beginner mode it will rise to about 50′ before coming back so you need to make sure it’s not near anything.
It landed about 3′ from where it took off which isn’t bad as I haven’t got a take off pad yet ( on order ) and was flying from grass.
I haven’t tried the follow me or waypoint settings yet but I expect it will work well.
The one thing which isn’t in the manual is that after doing the compass calibration you also need to do a gyro calibration by bringing both control sticks to bottom left.
From my initial experience I would really recommend the HS720G and I look forward to further longer flights as I gain the experience.

Out of the box it was very straight forward. Read the operators manual, and away I went. I really enjoy the ease of use, it really is child play.
Maybe a bit fast fast for a child, or maybe its just a bit fast for me, age really does suck. I did contact customer services with an issue. They were great and resolved it straight away, first class customer care. Would I but it again, YES I would.

I had a slight issue with my drone when it first arrived, but after contacting Holy Stone’s customer support, they quickly sent me out a replacement unit that works perfectly.
The drone itself folds down to a very compact 160 x 100 x 60 mm, comes with its own carry case, that also holds the controller, spare battery (available separately) spare blades etc. The case, including handle, measures 300 x 210 x 85 which makes it very easy to carry and store at home.
The supplied instruction manual guides you through setting up your drone, pairing the drone and controller and installing the software on your phone, iPod or tablet.
If you are new to drones, there is a beginner mode that limits the flying height and distance to 49 feet (although these can be increased). There is also a Speed Switch which toggles between High and Low.
One thing I have noticed is, it’s important to turn on and connect things in the right order, which is.
    Turn on the receiver
    Turn on the drone
Change your phone’s (iPod / tablet) Wi-Fi to HollyStoneGIM-******
    Launch the Ophelia Fly app
Wait to get at least 7 GPS satellites then you are ready to go.
One of many things about this drone I like is that the receiver shows you the drone’s battery level, which comes in handy if you are stretching flying time to the max. Alternatively you can just let the Low Voltage RTH do its job for you.
All in all an excellent drone adult drone that doesn’t cost the earth.

Easy to setup and easy to use app. the setup video on the Holy Stone website is also very good.
Be warned, if like me your novice, please take it to a large open space to learn how to use it.
I tested mine in the back garden, I lost control & panicked as it hit the house continually all the way down to the ground. Amazingly although it had major scratches to the top and the blades, I picked it up to check it and it re-started it. flying all good, it does moves fast. Sadly I can’t get the camera to move/calibrate. I’m gutted really. Serious piece of Kit.

I bought this drone after watching many reviews on YouTube, I’m not disappointed. The quality of video footage is superb and the drone itself is easy to operate, but it does need practice and a big field! I’m going to enjoy this ..

The above was the review I left a couple of days after taking delivery of the drone in order to get a free battery (see below) so I had a compelling reason to leave one..an honest one I might add. After owning and playing with the said drone for just over a week, coupled with the free battery offer, I felt I had to expand on my review. I might add I rarely leave comments or feedback on this or any other site as everyone and their uncle want feedback nowadays, I don’t have the time.
However, I have to leave such positive comments for the combined efforts of Amazon and in particular, Holy Stone UK

I have very recently bought my first drone, Holy Stone HS720G…….What an amazing machine!

I was torn between the HS720E with 2 two batteries or the HS720G with only 1 battery, the G won due to the many positive reviews on YouTube, I figured I could buy another battery at a later date.

I took delivery a couple of days after ordering from Amazon, the drone was despatched direct from Holy Stone UK.

From the moment I opened the Amazon box, it was a pure unadulterated pleasure opening the Holy Stone package.
The drone case is quality and offers excellent protection to the contents (in my opinion). The drone itself is a beauty, I haven’t named her yet, but I will . The build quality is excellent, the body feels solid and had a good weight to it. The rotor arms are positive to move, everything feels good. The remote pad also had a good weight to it, a couple of handles pull from the bottom of the unit, a couple of antennae pull up and twist at the top as well as a phone holder to view whilst flying the drone. Everything is quality!

I downloaded the Ophelia Fly app and I was ready to play. (I’M 62 btw and still like to play, we’re all kids at heart). I confess I did crash her a couple of times and cringed, but no damage at all, phew! I can’t stress enough to give yourself plenty of space to practice, especially when the drone is flying towards you, left and right are reversed, so to speak.

I noticed when I first connected the Ophelia Fly to my phone, that there was a brief message displayed offering a free battery. I thought I’d go through the motions and end up disappointed, I was so very wrong.

All I had to do was email Holy Stone and they emailed back requesting I leave a review on the drone, fair enough.
A couple of days after leaving the brief review above,I received the battery (on a Sunday via Amazon). I have to say I was over the moon, it was free, and is charging as I write this.

In summary, I can’t praise Holy Stone UK enough for the amazing product, delivery and after sale service.

    Thank you.

Really happy with this. Considering the price which is low it works really well and is easy to set up and use. Great pictures and video for what I need to survey for solar. really stable in flight and have no issues. Ive seen other drones over 1700 and I can do the same but for over 5x less price.

Nippy little drone, camera is pretty good… Not as technical as I thought to fly, read the manual and always reset your GPS where you are by spinning drone so it knows its home.

Bought this as a present for my husband for father day. Not knowing much about drones, I saw that the previous model had excellent reviews. So hedged my bets with the newer, less reviewed version.

My husband couldn’t be happier with this. Being a keen photographer (also had smaller drones with no camera) he was surprised at the smoothness of ascent, the remote operations and quality of the picture. (He is probably better placed to write a more technical detailed review) overall I was super happy with the product, and the fact that he was also pleased with it.

    Great entry level/beginner drone.

Was looking for a decent priced drone with decent specs. Not disappointed. Camera quality is amazing when you save the media to the SD card. Pics and vids stored on your phone are of high quality (1080p) but I prefer saving to an SD card for the 4k. Holds surprisingly well in the wind (something I noticed in a few youtube vids before purchase). RTH works pretty well, was closer to where it launched from than I expected. Not tested other features as of writing this review. Will update the review if I come across anything noteworthy.

Had an issue with the gimbal on original order but Holy Stone customer service helped me through some basic troubleshooting before replacing the whole unit for me. No hassles, quick and simple. Can’t ask for anything else! Looking forward to putting this to use.

Top quality drone, well thought out and easy to use controller when combined with a mobile phone/tablet WiFi without internet. Light Weight, range, more than ample battery capacity. Good altitude and die stance for a truly amazing Experience. Well worth checking out on numerous excellent YouTube reviews.

I wanted a drone to practice with and more importantly that had “follow me” so that I can film myself on my cycling trips. I already fly RC planes but was a bit nervous having seen stories of things going wrong and losing their drone.

Straight from opening the box I was impressed. It is a well made drone and comes complete apart from a SD card for filming. NOTE TO HOLY STONE – you do not mention that film is recorded down to the mobile, this is a big plus.

I read the instructions ( I know that’s strange) but found it easier to just get on with using the drone. Down loaded the app and took everything into the garden (Remember I already fly planes so I have my operator reg etc etc from the CAA – all rules were followed). As Simple as Simon, the app makes it obvious and leads you, the drone connected and sorted itself. The auto take off/land and other automated settings made it so easy to fly for the first time.

It was very windy, the fencing shaded some of that but also causes little eddies, the drone managed that easily and I still had the auto functions as a back up if I needed them.

I spent a lot of time looking around all of the drones, looking for the features that I wanted and the quality of build etc. The HS720G has passed my expectations and a lot more beside. I can’t wait to get out on my cycle and play with the follow me etc. At this price it is a no brainer recommendation, which I intend to do with the RC club members who are also looking for a drone.

One negative so far is an apparent lack of batteries. I would have liked to buy 2 extra batteries but cannot find any anywhere.

    Much better than I though

After buying some cheaper drones to gain a bit of experience, I decided to splash out on this. I could immediately see the higher build quality, it doesn’t feel flimsy or toy-like at all. When I came to fly, it was more more stable in the air than previous drones I’ve had. The controls were also much more responsive at greater ranges. The greatest improvement in over cheaper drones was in the camera. The two-axis gimbal means that there is less shake when using video and the built-in memory card slot (The card isn’t included) means that the images are much sharper. It is genuinely 4K.
My biggest complaint is the battery life. The stated 23 minutes is accurate but you only get one battery so it is a bit limited in that respect. I’d also say that, while it’s a simple drone to use, the price means it’s perhaps best to get a bit of experience with something cheaper before upgrading to this. That said, you get what you pay for and I may not have had some of the issues I had if I’d spent more.

Firstly on opening this I was instantly very impressed of the case, it is good quality and protective from all around with firm padding to hold the drone in place. Secondly i was keen to get this drone up in the air; i liked that it is compact and the propellers unfold, the instructions were clear and easy to follow which made it very easy to sync to my samsung phone and ready to fly in under 15 minutes – with a full battery charge you get around 20-30minutes play time which is plenty for me as i am still learning to fly it. The camera is great quality and ideal for outdoor events and sporting- my husband was able to take ariel videos of our sons football match which I really liked but when uploaded to computer the quality wasnt as good as photos.

The Holy Stone 2-Axis Gimbal GPS Drone, is an amazing piece of engineering. First let’s talk some amazing traits.

For those who are looking for good quality images/videos, its 4K Camera, will allow for amazing shoots. Its 5GHz transmission guarantees longer footage. What I liked specifically was the cameras EIS (Electric Image Stabilization) as I could take fast moving videos whilst cycling or climbing. In addition to this, it has an incredible reach of up to 3277 Feet. Making it perfect for panoramic or landscape pictures which are mouth opening.

In my opinion one of its main features it’s flying programming. Follow Me, Tap Fly, and Point of Interest creates a supported and encouraging way to fly freeing your hands up. Its HS720G technology allows for recordings and pictures you would only be able to take as the user but not the main protagonist. This technology gave me the change to record my own sport achievements using angles and predetermined pathways for the drone to follow.

As a beginner of a drone camera I was looking for a easy to operate and manageable device. Its easy interface allows for a quick understanding of its main systems.

Regarding its safety, the device has integrated safety systems such the Emergency Stop and Smart Return to Home which prevents loss or damage. Another important feature to look out for is it’s battery life, which lasts up to 26 minutes and has a very handy powerful brushless motors, easy to maintain.

I have always been amazed with drones and the photos/videos it could potentially take. Having zero experience of flying drones I was pleasantly surprised how easy it was.
Considering I have tried to fly the smaller toy drones before and had failed I was worried about breaking this drone.
This drone comes with a nice sturdy carry case which is quite compact. It contains the drone itself, a remote control, a charging cable to charge the battery. They have also provided you with spare blades.
The remote control is battery operated which takes two double A batteries. It came with an instruction booklet but I watched online videos instead.
To set up I did the below:
    – Put batteries into the remote control
-Charged the batteries using the cable provided.
    – Downloaded the Holy Stone app
    – Once all charged, I turned on the remote control. Connect the wifi on my phone with the drone. On the app I went to sign in and then skip without putting in any of my details.
    – Clip the phone onto the remote control by sliding the holder out.
    – Once the remote control is turned on you will see the batteries indicator on both sides for the remote control and the drone itself.
    – I did down and right to set up the compass. Turn the drone horizontally 3 times, and then turned it nose up and rotate 3 times.
    – I then did down and left to set the Gimbal with the drone on the floor (This I found on a tutorial video on YouTube)
    – Turned on the GPS on the side, check on your phone to see that GPS is on!

This is the part that I found difficulty with , It wasn’t very intuitive how to start the drone. I pressed and hold the unlock button a few times before anything happened so this part was a bit frustrating for a beginner.
Once started, the flying experience was really good. It was stable, if you don’t do anything it stays in position. The left hand joystick is altitude and rotation, the right hand joy stick is for forward, backwards, left and right.
I love the return to home function especially for a beginner like me. Once I wanted it to return i just needed to press the home button at the top right corner. It would then fly up really high and find the original position (which was slightly out but close enough!)

It was easy to take photos and videos with and the quality of the photos and videos are good. I have really enjoyed using this and am really looking forward to the next flight.

Previously owned a HS720E but sadly crashed it beyond repair, that was a great drone and was so worth the price tag, now Holy Stone have set the bar much higher with the HS720G, lighter, faster, more stable with a better battery life and 2 axis gimbal and what seems to be an improved app, only 2 negative aspects are no lights and only one battery but that’s a small price to pay for all the other improvements, highly recommend A+

I was in the market for a drone after a friend showed me how his Mavic drone operated, but I didnt want to pay nearly 1000! So i had a good look at what’s out there and eventually settled on the Holy Stone HS720G. It looks just my friends Mavic but about a quarter the price, it feels sturdy and well designed and is so light too, it has several features that I like such as the return to home function, the 4k camera system which like the expensive Mavic is gymbal mounted. I have never used a drone before so was careful to follow the instructions to the letter and in no time it was all set up. The only issue i had was when i pulled out the mobile phone support bracket – I felt i was going to snap it off when i tried to secure it to tkae the phone but hey, it was fine! I have only done some basic low flights and tried the follow me function around my garden which was a nice touch. So all in all I am very pleased with my purchase so far and look forward to using it during the next few weeks to master the art of drone flying!

I am a beginner and I feel this is well suited to my ability level. I’d recommend starting in open spaces, I know it’s obvious but there’s a temptation to try it in the garden. Unless it’s massive I’d go to the park! Not that it’s difficult to control, but it gives you a lot more freedom to make mistakes in a wide-open arena.

The drone is easy to set up and use. The battery life is quite short so you have to use it judiciously. The remote control is sufficient to control the drone, the mobile app is optional. I did install it but my phone doesn’t fit very well on the holder connected to the control, so I ended up not using it much. The quality of photos and videos is quite good. What I like is it’s easy to get it to hover, so you get a chance to decide what to do next. I found the return home button a bit haphazard, as it seems to go almost in the opposite direction a lot of the time! I generally guide the drone home myself. I like the carrying case, which helps keep everything well protected.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI wanted to get a drone to take on holiday in the UK. I looked at several makes and models and this one stood out for me as a beginner. I haven’t flown it yet but will update this first impression when I do.

The drone and all its accessories are beautifully packed in a proper solid carrying case. The contents feel well built and despite the low price tag it feels like a quality item. The instruction manual is clear and written well in English.

This is the recently updated version of the HS720 (with a G instead of an E at the end). I almost bought the E version and saw this at the last minute. The newer version (which is currently the same price) has an updated gimbal that works on a two axis basis instead of one that should make for a more stable image in flight. It is also smaller. The pay off is that you don’t get the lights in the rota arms and only one battery instead of two. For me, this is a price worth paying but others may feel that the older model is better value. Holy Stone tell me that spare batteries will be available on Amazon by the end of May.

I have downloaded the updated app and that seems well laid out and easy to read on a smartphone screen. The remote control is sturdy and the controls feel comfortable in the hands.

So far, I am really pleased with the product. Of course, need to get if off of the ground yet but so far, so good.

The drone is well built and construction wise hits above its weight, the camera quality is pretty good even on overcast days and the electronic image stabilisation works well in level flight but when you pan the camera up or down it tries to compensate and so makes the video juddery despite the camera moving smoothly.

The app offers an easy to navigate interface. The drone is equipped with return to home which has been spot on every time, landing within a foot or so of the take off position.

Follow me mode works really well too, with the drone able to keep up with me. The footage is not so smooth when turning to follow me, but it’s as expected.

You can also set a path of waypoints for the drone to follow and it does this perfectly well. Multiple functions such as Headless Mode, Automatic Take-off, Altitude Hold, Optical Flow Positioning are devised for the novice. The Emergency Stop and Smart Return to Home can prevent HS720G from losing or damaging to a great extent.

It’s an amazing piece of equipment and will suit most people’s needs. Video quality is excellent too.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersIt is a very good entry-level drone, and when treated as such, it ticks all the boxes. However, as a device capable of recording 4K quality video, I was expecting a little bit more from it.
    BUILD QUALITY
It is a fairly solid construction that could last for a long time when maintained and looked after.
The drone comes in a sturdy carry case with designated slots for a drone, a controller, and a mesh zippered pocket for storing some random things(spare propellers, cable, a screwdriver, instruction manual, and spare batteries for the controller). There is a one more compartment but it is not designed to hold a
I found some tiny wires visible behind the camera gimbal in the front part of the drone, to be visible from the outside. But so far it has not affected the performance of the drone.

    FUNCTIONALITY/ VIDEO AND PHOTO QUALITY
It is easy to store and transport due to its quality carry cases. My original intention was to use footage recorded on the drone to supplement the footage from my phone, while traveling, rollerskating, and climbing.
I’m currently using a Samsung s9( a 4-year-old device ) so my expectations were that the video quality wiill be compareable. Unfortunately, the camera used for the drone has visibly lower quality. It looks good when recording a nice landscape from the far above but there is a lack of details and poor dynamic range of the recorded footage. When hovering at a low altitude, the picture is not very detailed.
Also, any movement of the gimbal( for example tilting) or panning, changing the direction of the drone, causes a visible worsening of the quality, and strong aberration to the picture.
Quality of photographs taken using the drone is not very good. Similarily to video, lack detail and poor dynamic range.
It loos better when a good amount of daylight is available but in the afternoon/evening the video and pictures are quite bad.
On one of the flights, I started pre-flight procedures having an indication of the drone battery was charged in around 50% – 2 bars on the battery LED indicator.. But when I started flying I immediately got a warning message that the drone can fly only below 45m height due to low battery level. After flying for 15- 20 meters from my position, at the level of around 4m., the drone just landed itself due to a low battery.

    BATTERY LIFE
Tasting during several flights – the full charge gives around 20min. of flight. Decent amount, not far from the stated 26min.
Charging is very easy as the battery has its own USB-C port. But it is painstakingly slow… it takes more than 5h to charge the battery fully ! Without some spare batteries there is quite hard to use it, when you are for example on holliday. You might not get the shot you want in the time of the battery life. Or even if you will, you would need to charge the battery for a long time before being able to use it again.
I couldn’t make the FOLLOW ME mode to work. Every time i tried to use it, I got an error message “Not enough or too far from oneself to fail”. I tried to fly away or very close to me, but it didn’t work.
POINT OF INTEREST is a bit scary as the drone is not equipped with any obstacle avoidance sensors… It would be useful ONLY on the open spaces.

    CONCLUSION
If you treat it as a toy to play with or as a learing drone to learn how to fly and record – it will fulfil your needs
If you expect a good quality videos/ pictures – you might be dissapointed.
There is a competitive drone from well established brand in the industry that will deliver much more in any of the points above for almost identical price.

    Good entry level drone

This is my third drone in 4 yrs and by far the best drone I’ve had. The HS720g has everything I need to take some great video’s / photos whilst in hover mode but whilst flying too. It’s also the best valued drone I ‘ve had as my previous drone were more expensive and did not have 2 gimbal camera, it’s also easy to operate even for a beginner. I absolutely love this Holy Stone drone – it’s the first I’ve ever owned and I am really pleased with the product so far!

The drone arrived nicely packed – and it comes with a grey, leatherette case which you can use to store and protect your drone whilst traveling.

The drone can fly for a total of 26 minutes – the battery itself is charged with a USB cable, however there is no plug. There is 1 battery provided from the drone. I have tried this drone multiple times and I am getting around 30 minutes flying time, I believe this varies depending how you are using it for example; height etc.

The drone was very easy to get set up – the battery once installed, is used to power the drone on and off, as there’s a button the rear. Once you download the app, it’ll advise you on how to calibrate the drone correctly. The app is incredibly handy and is fully utilised when flying; for example, you are able to see images from the 4K camera and live view of the drone.

The controller itself requires 2 AA batteries – I would prefer the drones controller to have a rechargeable controller which I think would make this a lot better.

The drone flies incredibly well, and is really stable – I was able to take some really nice pictures, the onboard camera gives nice images.

Excellent functionality and performance – I am incredibly impressed by this product and would highly recommend it to family and friends!

This is a very powerful drone which I thought might be best illustrated by the following video where I have attached a solid whetstone weight about 1.5kg to it. For safety as I did not know how it would react I used the bed as the landing and takeoff pad.

You can see it is practically taking off with it and that was just in the hover mode where it is never a perfect hover but a slight ellipse for most drones but very expensive ones.

This mid priced consumer level drone ticks all the boxes but so must you if new to drone flying and ownership. Head over to the civil aviation website and apply for the operator and flying tests. The test takes the form of 40 questions taken after reading the guidelines. The licence is ten pounds a year and the number assigned must then be written on your drone clearly or in a readily accessible area of the drone. All this is because this is not a less than 250g drone. It is about 360g so cannot be used without the operator licence.

This drone has sensible set up and setting the compass is achieved when the flashing snowflake is on the controller by holding the drone with the flashing light to the sky and keeping that uppermost, by turning it slowly 2 or 3 full times till you get a solid light.

Then use the lock button to initialise the drone and either press hover which is what I did for the video, or control of your choice id you want to fly immediately.

This drone is very exciting and fun to use and comes with battery and recommended usb lead for exclusive use in charging it. It used 1 bar lifting up the weight on the bed but I find it lasted about double when just flying by itself for a short time. I think if you are going to do much flying you will want a second battery as it takes a while to charge over several hours.

I liked the very easy to read proper English manual explaining all the settings and features.
Very easy to setup and fly, not ever having flown a Drone before.
Still pictures are superb, video a little grainy, but for the most part acceptable at this price point; must play around with video settings

One criticism – not enough was made of the fact the Drone Wi-fi is 5Ghz only. My relatively new Samsung phone is 2.4Ghz only. Bit of a show stopper!
However I had a spare 8″ Tablet which is 5Ghz and have made a ‘flight deck’ from the supplied controller and some thin ply. Works a treat.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI purchased my first Holy Stone drone a hs100 in July 21 and found it was so easy to fly for an operator without to much experience, it was well made and performed absolutely fantastically. It gave so much confidence that if you got into a bit of trouble all you had to do was let go of the controls and it just hovers allowing me to take a breath before carrying on. The camera takes really great pictures & video and is very stable.
I wanted a new drone that was more compact in its own carrying case to take on holiday so naturally my first choice was Holy Stone as I knew it gave good quality pictures and was easy to handle & control. I had watched the reviews on YouTube for the ha 720e and thought that’s the one for me but couldn’t believe my luck just when I was ready to purchase Holy stone brought out an upgrade the hs720g I saw Captain Drines review and it looked awesome so I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it.
I have only been able to fly it a couple of times since I got it 3 days ago but it is fantastic and the picture quality if brilliant I am so pleased.

Another reason I went for the holystone was the price it is very competitively priced and I could buy 2 for the price of a mavic which if lost or damaged while abroad would be a catastrophe and that kind of saving can be put to a much better use on the trip.

Lastly I have been very impressed by holystones communications having had a few queries they were very helpful and quick to come back giving me confidence in there customer service
Holy Stone all the way for me.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThe HS720G is supplied in a very smart case, very impressive. The case contains the drone, battery, battery charging cable, spare props, and the controller. As the drone is of the folding arm type the case is much smaller that that for the HS120D for example. Certainly easy enough and light enough to carry around.

The kit is supplied with one battery, I haven’t been able to track down a spare as one is not really enough if you have travelled some distance to fly. Though Holystone do have a system to enable one to get another.

The controller, which has an information window set in it, requires 2 AA batteries, which was a surprise as all the other Holystone drones I have have usb charging. Some folk may find this a better system, easy enough to carry some spare batts. whereas a recharge takes time.

In information window supplies all the info required to fly the drone so a smartphone is not really needed. Though without one you won’t be able to see what the drone is flying over and/or recording.

The drone flies very well, even in moderate wind it is pretty stable and the gimbal really does make a difference when filming. I’ve seem my drone at a 10 or 15 degree bank but the horizon was still level. The drone takes upto a 128gig micro sd card.

One battery is stated to give 26 mins flying and I wouldn’t argue with that, I always head mine for home with plenty left. It records in MPG4 so just about any computer OS shouldn’t have any trouble reading the files.

Overall, a very impressive reasonably priced drone that has quite a few bells and whistles in the app. The app you want is Opheila FLY and you do have to set up an account.

The one small negative for me is the phone holder on the controller. It’s safe but I twitch each time I use it as you have to use a fair bit of force to bring it fully into position. Having said that the whole system seems very well made, it’s just me I guess 🙂

UPDATE : I tried to take advantage of the HolyStone spare battery offer and was told that they were unable to ship them to the UK as we were no longer part of the EU. Really don’t understand that at all. In consequence one battery limits the practicality of using the drone for anything semi serious as even with a fast charger you are likely to be sitting around for some time waiting for the battery to recharge. Disappointing!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis is a fantastic drone and you can really appreciate why Holy Stone are recommended by professionals as a good value drone manufacturer.

It’s worth first stating that I already own a HS440 drone, which is Holy Stone’s entry level drone, without all the fancy technics about it. I love that drone as a beginner’s one and was really pleased to be given the opportunity to review the HS720G, which is the newest drone in their lineup with the latest camera gimbal, GPS, etc.

The whole kit arrives in a premium quality travel case, making it perfect to protect your drone until it’s needed. There’s even a gimbal cover that is easily removed.

Charge the battery via a USB-C cable. Although there’s only 1 battery included, it claims up to 26 minutes of flight time. I have achieved close to that in use, however it’s disappointing that you cannot buy any more batteries here in the UK at the time of review. I attempted to use a second battery offer that’s in the app, waited 2 weeks and was then told they can’t legally ship them to the UK from China as we’re no longer in the EU. (See update below).

The battery also has the on/off button built into it. At this point you need to read the instruction booklet to ensure you’re doing all your pre-flight checks and calibrations correctly. Whilst the screen on the controller helps immensely with this, it can feel a bit daunting on first flight when you haven’t had all the fancy extras on a drone before. Thankfully, calibration is straight forward.

Once you have a GPS lock and the drone has the correct light colour on it, you’re good to go. Press the unlock button and you can then fly by automatic take off or manual lift on the left stick. The controller screen advises on the number of GPS satellite locks, etc.

The gimbal held camera is really the big addition to the HS720G. I’m really amazed by it. In my initial test flight video, it was a somewhat windy day in the garden, so I was testing it at a low height. Despite the drone moving around a lot in the wind, the image stays level and has minimal wobble. It’s really impressive and a fantastic feature.

The video I’ve now uploaded was a more practical test flight up to 100 metres with quite rapid movement, camera tilting and fast rotation. It shows how well the gimbal works at keeping a stable image This was only recorded at 1080p, but it’ll do up to 4k video. Even the preflight checks and inspections are somewhat enjoyable to do.

There are a few minor niggles with the camera image; some chromatic aberrations and the image looks curved at the extreme edges of the image (something you can’t really avoid with such a wide lens), but this shouldn’t bother many people.

The manufacturer is also easy to contact on Amazon. There was a slight dust issue on the lens of the first drone, which they quickly remedied.

It’s early days, but I’m already really impressed with this. I’ll be getting plenty of use out of it and can definitely recommend it. I’ve only dropped 1 star now, however, due to the lack of any second battery availability, which really restricts flight time.

    Update:

Batteries are finally in stock and I’m told one is on its way. In the meantime, I’ve been looking at the “antenna” on the top and discovered that they’re not actual antenna. They’re simply dummy plastic fold-up and fold-down ones to give the impression of antenna. All the time I’ve been adjusting them, etc to improve range and it won’t have done a thing. I have managed 600 metres out of it now, however you’ll be lucky to get more than 300 metres in normal use. The real antenna is likely a small wire at the back of the transmitter, which is generally fine for 2.4ghz close range flying.

Premium quality. Responsive and professional. Dummy "antenna"
