Bought it to replace an older – leaking – version. All straightforward to install – it even used the same wall fittings. Only downside is that the shield plate on the back (it covers where the feed hose enters the reel) keeps coming adrift.
Excellent hose and a great price compared to other retailers. Recoil system is very good although requires a bit of effort to pull the hose out but a joy to not have to wind it all back onto a reel. Time will tell if the hose lasts
I have been meaning to get one of these for years & eventually took the plunge. What a revelation. A very smart gadget. yes its more expensive, but so far seems well made & should last, unlike others that have been left out.
I using it for last 2 years and still works without any issue.

Bought for our father to use as he is getting old and needed something that was easy to use and retract. He loves using it. Great product, can take it quite a way in his garden to hose and doesn’t have to worry about winding it back. Thoroughly recommended.

Bought this mostly to have the long length of hose without having to manually wind it back in every night.
Obviously, it’s not much in use this weather, but I’ve used it enough to know that it works, and it’s also much neater hanging on the wall than a free-standing reel.
I am very satisfied with this item so far. It is extremely tidy with the reel folding back on a hinge to lie flat against the wall. It’s also easy to use with a ratchet engaging about every 1.5 metres Stooping the hose from coiling back. When you want to reel it in you just pull and release and a spring rewinds the hose with a feeder arrangement making sure it is rewound without tangle. Excellent design!
A great product for design and quality but 30m of hose is just too much for it to properly handle. When auto-retracting, it gets difficult towards the end with the hose stopping and not wanting to go in; the rolled hose diameter gets too large and starts jamming. Releasing any hose pressure helps alleviate the problem but it still needs some coaching in.
On the other hand, I also purchased the 20m model and it works a treat; the rolled diameter does not cause an issue.

Got the item lot sooner than expected. It has already proved to be perfect for cleaning at front and back of our home. Easy to install and in our case was bought at good price. Looking forward to years of use. Wife is very happy indeed.

Great hose reel and hose with quality second to none! The clever and nifty features such as removable fitting in the reel, lead hose cover, lockable features on the mount and main reel add value and convenience. The retractable and lock mechanism feels solid and works well. It also comes with excellent instructions and wall mounting kit – just 4 plugs and screws and you’re good to go. I have used other reels before but the quality doesn’t compare. I couldn’t recommend this product any more.
This replaced a previous Hoselock reel. The fittings are improved, no leaks, easy change of connection to tap and attachment of spray gun. Very good.

I would recommend not using the screws and wall plugs that come with the hose, they are a joke. Use the biggest coach bolts you can fit through the bracket holes (no washers) and suitable wall plugs.

I wish the security holes on the hose assembly had a metal cover though… otherwise anyone who really wants your hose could just lever the padlock off. But at least it will stop the opportunist, I might knock up something myself.
I replaced the spray head with a proper one and am very impressed with the pressure etc.
It even runs my Karcher jet was, which my previous hose (on the same outside tap) couldn’t do.

I installed this hose after it arrived yesterday and it was very easy to do so. The thing I like best about it is that it is easy to use for my wife when she is watering the vegetables. The self retracting for storage again is a very useful feature as well So far excellent.
My wife likes to water our garden every evening in spring and she struggled with manual hose reel we had. This product is perfect for her!!
Very easy install, anti theft protection (Lock not included). Hoze rolls in and out quickly.
It’s a pity that Hozelock didn’t keep the original green which sort of blends in with the garden….. I didn’t really like the grey and orange but it certainly did not lack on its usual efficiency
East to install, just four holes in wall to drill and screw in place, everything is supplied in box, works really well and big improvement over coiling the hose by hand!
The reel was great and easy to operate. Fixing tested my selection of screwdrivers, I found it impossible to completely screw the bracket to the wall with the screws provided. None of my extensive collection of drivers would get the screws more than half way in before the head deformed, Used my own screws without a problem. pity such a cheap item spoilt the review.
I bought this for the yard to use filling water containers in the stables. It pulls out easily and I like the way you can lock it to stop it accidentally rewinding. I bought a different , cheaper make for the garden last year and it was hard work to pull out. However, this one doesn’t always rewind automatically and I have to keep pulling it back out and then letting it rewind again. Still it is better than rewinding a manual one.
Good product for a keen gardener and ease of retractable hose is great, gone are the days of struggle! Wish the power of the hose was a tad more powerful though.
This is brilliant! Pricy but worth it every summer evening when I don’t have to bend down and reel in the the heavy hose.

Hemos estado usando el producto durante bastante tiempo y todava funciona muy bien. incluso cuando la manguera se despliega 30 metros.
All good, the only small issue is the fixings require a 7mm diameter masonry drill. Most masonry drill sets have 6mm and 8mm diameter included. 7mm is a bit of an oddball.

Makes using a hose so much easier than having to coil it round a holder or even using a handle to wind hose in.

Easy to assemble, four screws into a concrete wall and seeems pretty sturdy. Recoil function works pretty intuitively. Waiting on a spray hose head to complete the collection. Recommended.
This hose reel is great. Had one at my previous house and no complaints. This 30m version is heavy and could be tricky to install for some. On delivery, the packing was damaged (see picture) but no damage to contents…. right… off to water the garden – hold on… it’s raining! Doh!

It works well but the hose doesn’t retract well into the housing.
What a lot of work this retractable hose saves. Got a joiner to fit it as its a weighty item. Good design and I look forward to putting it indoors for the winter.
The auto rewind is a godsend when rxealing in 30 m of hose; I also have a manual one so am well aware of the advantages. If anything, it is a bit expensive!

Ha un angolo di rotazione di 180 e un sistema di riavvolgimento automatico antiaggrovigliamento.
Veramente comodo ma se dovete fissarlo sul legno vi consiglio di installare una staffa in acciaio da avvitare sul retro del materiale da forare, se no il peso potrebbe far cedere il tutto.

Das ist jetzt schon unser 5 Hotzelock und sind eigentlich zufrieden damit ,leider lsst die Qualitt ein wenig nach da beim Material sehr stark optimiert wird. Halterung und seitlicher Deckel wird immer dnner, auch Anschlsse und Kupplungen sind nicht mehr
So wie frher. Nur der Preis wird nicht billiger. Wichtig ist auch wenn man in Einrollt das man den Wasserdruck ablsst, sonst
wird das Ding berall undicht.
Had a problem with the first one – part missing but got replacement. Bit of a mix-up with picking up returned item but eventually got it sorted. Works a dream now – hopefully will continue.
I nearly didn’t buy this product due to reviews saying “difficult to fit” and “leaks from the inside”. However, similar comments for other hose reels kinda meant there no one perfect choice. I found both these claims wrong in that the Hozelock reel is easy to install and works perfectly well. It seems unfair that products are rated based on the purchasers ability to install or use them. I cannot fail this product at all and recommend it. One point though, the 30m version does adversely affect the water pressure, although still very useable.
I’ve had this for several months and it is still great. Winds back with no problem and, living in Spain, it’s in use every day and is still going strong. Great purchase

The hose is for watering plants etc. I would like to congratulate Hozelock on their customer support. I failed to follow the instruction for mounting the reel and paid the penalty. Having contacted customer services, I received prompt and efficient info to put right the issue.

We bought this one for my in-laws to make it easier for them to keep their hose tidy but easily accessible.
It can be a bit energetic when rewinding but it has to be to get the full length of the hose rewound.
We’ve had one for a few years so we know they last.
I think this hose is fab just what was needed it’s not cheap but you get what you pay for. Can it be left out through the winter months?
The Hozelock Reel arrived VERY well packed & on time. Quite a Heavy piece of Kit to secure to the wall so get help to fix it up. When fixed it is lockable to the Base Fixing plate & as mine is a long Hose so I have used Rollers to go round corners & over a Gate. This ensures it operates smoothly on recoil.
Arrived OK Yes the packaging was damaged but the product 1st class now mounted –The four holes for securing it were just not quite the same as the old ones, I would have thougt Hozlock would have thought about that, The old one was metal & the new plastic

Super device that makes watering the garden easy and appears to avoid the twists and knots in conventional hoses. However, after use for only a few weeks (maybe half a dozen ‘extractions’ / ‘returns’), the hose no-longer returns fully and needs to be extracted pushed and otherwise persuaded to return fully. I noted someone else comment something similar, saying the previous design was better, but I have never had a previous variant so all I can say is I hope it doesn’t get worse
The hose is very good quality and not having to coil the hose up by hand means no tangles to sort after the wife has washed the car ! Excelle

When we mounted this reel on the wall this worrying gap appeared. It looks as if there should have been bolts in place to hold this case together. There appear to be places where bolts are supposed to be in fig.1 and fig.2 but there are no bolts in place. I have only had this auto reel for 4 weeks and this alarms me. I need some advice urgently please.
Update: A replacement reel is on its way to me and will be delivered within 24 hours of contacting Amazon. Amazing support from Amazon.
After 2 of those stupid flexible hoses that last only about 12 months, I bit the bullet and bought a traditional Hozelock. It fits fantastically to the side of the house and swivels to do the front and back gardens. Fantastic hose. Best I’ve ever had
If you are looking at this and thinking – it’s twice the price of one of these new flexi hoses that expand once they have water in them, I can save you a lot of time – and money. Don’t buy the expanding one. They burst far too regularly. I gave up after 3 bursts (120 worth of hosepipes) and now I have this on my garden wall. It seems a far more robust and tidy solution.

I just think that it is a great water hose all round, I love the auto reel, the hose dose’nt get notted & lays flat against the wall, so all in all it doe’s what it says.
Finally fitted the hozelock auto reel to the wall and very pleased with it. Very clear instructions for fitting and great product.
This replaces an older non-moving unit I had which was also manual. It’s a streamlined all mount now (the old one was much larger) but it does mean you need a solid bit of wall as the weight is over a smaller area. There is a drilling guide on the box which is handy.
It doesn’t include a hose guide – so you can use an old one or have to buy it separately. The included hose is the mid-range one (now the top end yellow one) – I found in the past these do kink and, oddly, go mouldy/black over time – but it’s better than the ‘cheap’ one.
The revolving unit is an interesting idea and does work with rolling it back in – but it does increase the space needed for the unit – it sticks out a long way depending on the angle.
Comes with a hand spray, all the connectors and a length of hose to connect to the tap.
Pretty good overall – but if you’ve got a working existing one, I don’t think it’s specifically worth the upgrade – especially with the revised hole template.
This is one of those upgrades where you pay a bit more, but are really glad you did (not that I paid, but if this was taken off me, I’d pay for a replacement). I have a standard hose, that is kinked and knotted, and one of those stretches hoses.
The standard hose is a pig that causes regularly induces industrial language. The stretchy hose is good – it takes up less space, doesn’t kink and reaches a long way. This wall-mounted hozelock is a steps better. It is ultimately tidy and out of the way, it is very long, and it rewinds for you. The height of laziness and a peaceful life.
It won’t change your life, but it will make your outdoor living a smidgen better. Not cheap, but spread the cost over ten summers and it is well worth it.
I’ve up-rated my original review to five stars having used this hose for several weeks and – thanks to the extended hot spell – used it very frequently. It’s retraction mechanism is working brilliantly. I do get the odd “kink” in the hose, still, but I’ve accepted that this is a very minor fault overall. For its size, this hose is proving to be top notch. I’m very pleased indeed with it.

This is the third Hozelock Auto Reel we’ve owned. The first was a 20m which is now with our son and his wife and after several years, still works well; the second is a 40m which that one replaced. That one is the reason I’ve knocked off a star from this one for now – maybe this new one will prove me wrong and if so, I’ll revise it to 5* which it hopefully deserves. These hoses are generally excellent devices but my previous two have shown that, over time, they develop a fault: they can be a real pain to fully retract, and the 40m was much worse than the 20m in this regard. Also, my two other hoses have not been fully “un-kinkable”, again with the 40m much worse.
That said – I fully recommend them for their ease of use and practicality. This new one has a five year warranty so I have high hopes. They offer good value especially when found at a sale price, which seems to be often looking at Amazon and elsewhere.
I asked our builder, who was already on site, to fit this and he had the same problem with the length of the rawl plugs that another reviewer has highlighted. I was also grateful to that reviewer for pointing out the template provided inside the box for drilling.
I am delighted to have one of these Hozelock hoses and 30M gives great reach in watering the garden. Since using them at my sister’s house when doing their watering, I had realised that they were far superior to the hose system we had. The key advantage is the way the hose retracts into its housing with seems to be robust and which keeps the hose in good working order. It’s a delight not to have kinky garden hose any longer. The reel itself is large but the convenience of having it mounted and able to turn on its mounting is huge. With a 5 year guarantee there is also promise of longevity. Highly recommended
Very easy and straightforward to install, with clear photographic instructions, you can be up and running in not time at all. It does not appear not overly large and in its neutral gray colour it is not at all intrusive once in place. In addition to the main hose a short feeder hose is also included, although in my case this was not long enough (the instructions do acknowledge this might be the case). The connection is very easy and since setup I can detect no leaks at all. The short feeder hose can if required be disconnected from the feeder tap and be wound up in the main case, although if using a longer one it may not fit. All necessary connections are included, as well as a nozzle, although the last is pretty basic and if I hadn’t already got better I would certainly consider replacing it. However, a hose guide, mentioned in the instructions if the hose needs to go round the corner of a wall, is not included.
The best part of this is of course the automatic rewind, which works well and saves a great deal of effort over a manual rewind – an irksome task which often put me off using my old hose and resort to the watering can – I think the watering can may now soon be almost redundant.
My last Hozelock Auto Reel lasted seven and a bit years. It was an excellent hose. I never experienced any issues with it retracting itself. But after years of fairly regular use that involved a lot of fully extended use going over several levels and surface types (and fully extended use connected to another hose), the hose had become damaged and was in need of replacement, and the outer plastic had faded significantly. One disadvantage of this type of reel system is that a hose connector can’t be used to repair the hose without impairing the retraction ability. I was just looking at replacement tube options when this revised version of the Auto Reel was offered to me for review. A small amount of assembly and hose connection is needed to get this installed. Nothing too challenging, though!
There are several features I like a lot about this new version of the Auto Reel – which combines the ease of use of my earlier version with better cable management systems. Installation is easy, the only remotely fiddly part is the drilling of the holes for the fixings. Which would have been easier if I had realised that a drilling template that isn’t mentioned at all in the instructions is built in to the inside of the box. As the other reviewer who had received an updated version of the Auto Reel and replaced an older one with this has mentioned, the mounting bracket does not appear to be such good quality as the older one. The older bracket was much thicker, and had the fixing screws tightened into quite deep recessed wells that kept the screws clean and untarnished after years of being out of doors in all weathers. This meant that when I did have to take the old fixing bracket off the wall, the screws turned easily, without damaging the heads. The newer bracket does not offer the same kind of shielding. However, the hose management systems on the new Auto Reel are better, making it neater and easier to drain in order to store it under cover to help preserve the hose during the coldest months. After my last Auto Reel hose experience, I have every confidence in the 5 ear guarantee being well exceeded.
I have had my previous Hozelock for over 11 years. Although it’s looking old now! But it still serves a purpose. So being offered this one I just had to jump at the chance. We have just wall mounted it in our stables. That way I can not only water the garden and the veggie patch. But I can fill the horses water buckets in their stables, and wash the horses down in hot weather. Hozelock is always our brand of choice. It never kinks or even perishes in the cold weather. If you want value for money then buy this one. For the price it’s a solid investment. Hozelock is built to last and last.
This is ideal for me as it saves pulling a hose through the garage to wash the car; I wall-mounted just inside the garage door. The hose pulls out and retracts quite easily and the mechanism ensures it doesn’t tangle on the drum. Sweet! There’s a few metres of flexible hose supplied with fittings to connect to an standard outside tap.
It’s a heavy old thing, you’ll need to mount on a brick or block wall, you might get away using really big fence-post The hose isn’t 100% kink-proof, but is far, far better than cheap hose from discount supermarkets. Only a basic spray nozzle supplied, there’s plenty of others which fit the connector. I see Hozelock have really improved their connectors with soft textured grips that are hugely easier to pull apart with wet hands.
Other points –
If your nearest tap is more then approx. 2M distance from the mounting point, the supplied ‘feeder’ hose isn’t long enough.
The heavy ‘ball’ on the hose is placed exactly where it bashes against the car paintwork when using a brush attachment. I unscrewed it and moved directly behind the connector, but it’s too bad Hozelock can’t find a more elegant way of stopping the hose retracting too far
The wall bracket won’t sit flush against a pebble-dashed wall, you’d need to run some grey silicon around to neaten the job
The price of this model is big jump up, you can get the older 40M unit for much the same price on Amazo
My old one had a bit of a mind of its own whether the hose would stay out or want to wind itself back in.
The mounting bracket holes alas do not line up with the new ones and thus four new holes need to be drilled 7mm diameter and 50mm deep (deeper than the length of the rawl plugs provided as the screws go deeper into the wall than depth of the rawl plugs).
The box has a template drawing of the wall bracket layout to make marking the wall easier (the instructions both pictorial and written are very good but do not picture the template being used so I only noticed the template when I was putting the box in the recycle bin).
The wall bracket does not seem as substantial as my old one and at first I thought a bit was missing from the bottom of the wall bracket. This has a hole which you can fit a padlock to reduce the risk of theft, I just put a cable tie on for good measure.
It comes with a basic spray nozzle and the hose and fittings to attach to a normal garden tap.
This was a first for me, a hose with no leaks and it was pretty freaky as at first all that came out of my trigger nozzle was compressed air squeezed in the hose followed of course eventually by the water.
Before the ratchet starts working you have to pull out about two metres of hose and it still seems to retract pretty fast so I think it is still best to regulate the rewind speed.
The Hozelock logo is a little down hill on the side but I guess I can live with that 🙂
It comes with a five year warranty and I am hoping this one will also last ten years plus.
