As described. I would be ready to pay double if someone was to make it green so that it does not stand out in the garden, particularly that yellow.. but I guess that will never happen. It’s a real eyesore as it’s quite big. The grey part is actually OK so I am just trying to find ways to cover the yellow parts and googling paint for plastic…
I purchased this for my dad a year ago now and he’s loved how easy watering his garden has become. It wasn’t the easiest thing to install but ever since its been up and swinging its been faultless.
After hearing such rave reviews from dad, I plan to purchase one of these as soon as they’re back in stock!

I previously had a 20m one. Quick, speedy return into holder.
It’s obvious really, but the 40m needs a much larger return spring. So much drag on 40m hose. I was hoping it would be more willing to return, but it still made easy work of putting the hose away.( even if it needed loads of encouragement for the last 3m)
Love it now it’s done. The instructions seemed a bit out of sequence. I would show the picture of removing key parts at the beginning so when you are checking the contents fist you see that the majority are inside the unit.
As described , will see how it stands up to the test of time ,hence 4 stars.
Careful removing side cover to access accessories – easy to stress the clips. Use a wide flat bladed screwdriver. Get something solid to support weight of the reel while checking where and at what height to mount bracket. Screws supplied look too small but work fine if use correct drill bit for rawl plug. In use, ensure that you run hosepipe through a damp cloth so that dirt is not taken into the reef mechanism.
An excellent piece of garden equipment making hose rewinding so easy. Hose is quite narrow compared with normal hoses to fit 40 m in reel. Also, like all hoses, it will still kink if bent too tightly or loops.

However the fixing screws were a little weak. I managed to break the heads off 2!
I love this. I have health issues and this makes life easier.It is best to switch the water supply off at the tap and leave the hose open before using the self winding function. The water will then drain as the hose retracts into the housing. It looks very neat too.

This is a nice neat bit of equipment and is easy to assemble. However if the tap for the hose is set to the right of the hose reel (when looking at it) rather than the left then the feeder hose can restrict the movement of the hose reel in that direction (unless the tap and the reel are set very close together).
YES you could get a faulty one like some reviewers have said – there’s always a chance of that – but get it replaced if it turns up faulty! It’s definitely not going to be the norm for a brand like this that isn’t a bargain basement item from a cheap store!
These are one of those things you never knew you needed until you get one. My garden like many is long and thin. From the house – where the water is – to the drive for the cars is 30meters and in the past using a manual one to rewind that much hose was a right pain and you’d never be able to wind it properly onto the hose reel.
with this only good 3 foot pull until you hear a click and then just start walking to the reel letting it do it’s work as you go and re coil it without fuss or hassle.

Bit tricky to screw into the wall, I had to fashion a very long handled screwdriver from various bits from my toolbox. To go round corners you will need the extra guides. Self winds very well.
Great product. I bought this for my mum she loves it but they can surely do something on the price as it will dent your wallet.
Could not do without this as it would make watering the garden, cleaning the car, also topping up the fish pond more of a tiresome task. Well worth it’s money.
Excellent quality hose with its auto wind facility . A serious criticism is the quality and type of screw plus rawl plug provided to secure the wall 6mm is totally inadequate to support the weight and working tensions of the hose during normal operational use . As a result my wall bracket snapped and collapsed within four weeks of purchase , resulting in having to send for another wall bracket and purchasing 10mm screws and rawlplugs from my local DIY shop .
This issue needs to be urgently remedied by Hozelock .
This has made life so much easier for my mum in her garden. She can now reach the whole garden and front with ease. No more struggling to unwind a loose hose on a hanging bracket then wind up again manually. Mum is 110% hapoy with her new toy

It does not kink and is great because it goes back into its holder easily. The spring is strong but that is needed for 40m length.
At last a simple solution to reeling a hose back into its container. Hose once wall mounted pulls out and recoils very smoothly with no kinking of the hose so full water pressure for my Karcher jet wash. The only thing I would suggest is use some very heavy duty wall plugs as the ones the reel comes with are not strong enough to cope with a 40Metre hose and water. I used 4 M6 Rigifix Heavy Duty Wall anchors which work equally well for block walls or brick with only a very minor filing to the reel cassette location holes to allow the M6 screws through. Delighted with the hose now.
We bought two of these having had (and regrettably left) in our other house. This time we purchased two as large lawn areas and bought the 40m instead of smaller version. Worth the money even though at the time you think you could save some by having a smaller hozelock hose.
I’ve owned a previous version for 15 years which is still going strong. Needed another one for the front drive so didn’t think of any other brand. You get what you pay for so pay the premium and get one that will last!
Makes a tedious job much easier and I like that I can move the hose easily to water the front garden and the back too. The only thing is that sometimes it doesn’t retract the last few metres of hose. I usually give up trying and then a few minutes later it works fine !
This was a replacement item because my initial purchase leaked from inside the unit. However the replacement works well but some of the joints on the main unit are poorly constructed.
A great piece of garden kit. Don’t know why we haven’t bought one of these years ago. Really easy to use. Makes watering the garden a breeze – we have a very large garden. Don’t do what I did and think about it for ages, just buy it! it will make your life a whole lot easier. You do need a drill to put it up and it’s not very light (we bought the 40 m one) which is a lot of hose, but once it’s up anyone can manage it.

As much as you can get excited for a hose pipe, this is right up there. The build quality is what you expect from Hozelock, they are the Ferrari of hose pipes after all. It’s a big, bulky and heavy unit, but has held onto the wall without any problems. It is a bit fiddly to mount onto the wall, the drill holes in the wall unit could be located in an easier place to mark the holes out for drilling, definitely a 2 man job. Once fitted, it is so easy to pull out the hose, and the retractable mechanism works well and ensures there are no kinks.
Initial use is very satisfactory.
Plastic parts throughout therefore, concerns remain regarding its longevity.
The 40 metre reel is very large and heavy thus the plastic mounting bracket looks particularly vulnerable.
This device transforms the use of the garden hose. So easy to get to where you need to be. Hose is always wound up neatly with no kinks and no problems this has actually been worth the money and with a five year guarantee it’s just brilliant.
Had a few different hosepipe reels over the years and so far this is definitely the best (and most expensive!). I bought the 20m as that is big enough for my garden. Once installed it swivels on the wall so you can point it either way. When retracting the hose I guide it carefully back rather than let it get sucked back in quickly and it coils itself nice and evenly around the middle. There is space to store attachments on the reel. It’s a pleasure to use.
I have a fair old sized garden front and back which I have watered with an old Hozelock wind up for years. But as my in-laws live in an annexe and they are not getting younger, I thought it would be a good idea to make things a little easier when it came to winding time. I deliberated between 30 and 40m, 30 would have made it but I would have been relying on a jet of water to cover the last 10 foot, so not practical. The 40m version was bought and delivered and it’s massive! However, that’s not a bad thing because it removes the mess of unwound hose and extensions that had been used before. Installation is a simple 4 screw affair (there is a screw template printed on the box wings, which is a nice touch). You will need a 7mm drill bit or a 6mm and a wriggle to remove an extra mm. All the hose ends and screws are shipped inside the circular panel of the hose unit, I initially thought that they had been left out! Winding out and winding in is a doddle, but like all hose pipes, it doesn’t enjoy going around corners or passed car tyres. The best way around this is to just walk out how much you need in a straight line, pull any extra you need from that stop point and then walk off watering. Do the same thing when rewinding and you are good to go.
This hose reel is enourmous when installed on the wall. Don’t underestimate how big this is! Easy to install with template and fixings included. wind out is easy. Rewind works extremely well with built in spring loaded spooler mechanism.

Given the weight of the hose and its container there is a need for a more substantial mechanism for fixing to the wall.

Nicely made hose reel which has worked well. The rewind feature is easy to use and very convenient, and the hose itself is good quality. I thought that the supplied fixings seemed too weak for such a heavy item but I used them and they are sturdy enough. The reel requires some fitting together but the instructions are simple and clear.
I bought this because I was tired of struggling to rewind my hose. It does have a really strong and fast retraction and it does rewind without kinks. It is bulky but it changes direction smoothly. I like the fact that it has security features. I can’t answer questions about installing as I got someone else to do it. I do find it rather heavy to pull the hose out initially but it locks and stays where I want it well.
It’s so easy to water the garden now. No more getting frustrated with the old floor standing hose reel which used to always fall over. I’m a little concerned about the ratchet system as I’ve been really careful with it but it’s starting to take a few tugs to get it to recoil. If it stops recoiling I’ll just return it. At the moment though I’m very happy with it.
Whoever your fitting designers are really need to go back to school to lean about weight limits here is a fantastic product that is being sadly let down by the fittings, if you believe a 17k hose can be supported by 4 no7x3screws you really are kidding yourselves please rethink your fitting instructions
My wife found it difficult to wind in the previous reel so I invested in the hoselock auto reel and have not regretted it as, as the saying goes “It does what it says on the tin.”. The operation of the reel is easy to use, you can pull out as much, or as little as you need and it returns the hose with no problem at all. In all, it is the best hose I have ever owned and with one, small proviso, I would recommend it.
The small problem I have is the fixing to the wall. This hose and reel weigh some 40lbs and supplied is 3 STRAIGHT SCREWS and small rawl plugs. I would recommend that you should use normal TAPERED SCREWS as this would provide a much stronger fixing. This is the only problem with this and really I should have given it 5 stars.
The earleir reviews were helpful in identifying areas to look out for – such as internal leaks and the fixing screws. I made sure I had all the correct equipment – in particular an extended posidive screwdriver and 7mm masonary drill bit. I also made sure the internal connection was as tight as possible by turning it a few more times from the manufactured setting. The screw fixings are of a relatively poor steel quality – but with the long posidrive screwdriver I was able to get a good / straight purchase on the screwheads and took it slowly to tighten them up.
The result (so far!) is no leaks and a secure / tight fixing to the wall.
I also bought the ‘pro’ connector for the hose connection to the spray head and that seems to work well.
I am taking it easy to pull out the hose and gently return it and it is working very well.
The 40m hose gives me ample to do the rear garden and pull around to the front of the house for the garden and car washing.
Very pleased with the purchase.
I should of invested in one of these a few years ago! No more hassle tidying up the hose after watering! I also bought the hozelock hose guides which work very well with this. The hose itself is very nice quality and doesn’t kink like my old hose.
I’ve chosen the 40m auto reel, as I need to reach the front garden and drive from the back of the garden as that’s where it’s stored. The auto reel was a must as I can pull as much of the reel out as I need to. A slight tug at the reel after finishing using it and it just pulls the hose back inside the casing. It looks and feels strong, which will hopefully last through the frost in winter and not become brittle with the sun in the summer.
Fairly easy to install (follow the comprehensive instructions) but the disc covering the short pipe keeps falling off…. will have to look at that again! Otherwise it is working better than expected and as long as you walk back the hose and don’t just let go of it i a, sure it will last. It is larger than I thought but sits at the side of the house without any problem. It is much more convenient to use. We love it.

I live in a small complex of retirement homes and bought one of these for my own use at least three years ago and it is still going well after all that time. I bought one for my neighbour for a christmas present and have recently purchased another for our gardening club. They are so handy for evening watering of hanging baskets and occasional washing of the car, they are so easy to put away and always look tidy when installed as the hose is inside protected from the Sun. I recently contacted Hozelock with regard to one of their products and cannot praise them enough for their wonderful customer service. If you are thinking of getting one of these, don’t hesitate, just buy it, you won’t be disappointed.
good quality hose reel, works well, easy to fit its that good I bought another for my front garden my neighbour had a go and asked me to order him one he was that impressed.
Yet to install and use this as it’s winter but it looks like a good product. Word of warning as I didn’t spot this but the accessories are tucked away in one of the grey, round discs in the system body. The label showing this was not there on my first delivery so I mistakenly returned it.
I bought this hose for the garage so that I can water the front garden and wash the cars. We put a larger one in the back garden in the summer and I was surprised at how much we used it. The winding back of the hose makes it so much easier as that is the worst bit about getting the hose out. No more problems now, it’s just a really quick job.
I’m hoping my teenage son may offer to wash the cars now that there is a hose ready to use!
The overall concept is good but the spring tension in the reel could do with being stronger, as the last few feet of hose can take a lot of repeated pulling and pushing for it to be accepted into the reel. Otherwise, a very useful produc
Great item however doesn’t fully retract when filled with water as a permanent fixture…. I removed approx 6 metres of hose to make it fully retract in assisted. Could do with a strong chain to avoid theft when left outside due to the value. The padlockable holder is good but I’ve added my own chain screwed to the wall as an extra measure
We’ve all had experiences with garden hose reels. Come lose on the wall. Hard to wind. Hard to unwind. Bought one of Hozelock 40m Reel as an expensive trial. Now have two and plan a 3rd. Incredibly easy to attach to a brick wall. Do ensure you use the right size drill bit and take plenty of time to measure the holes using the wall mount as a guide. Go buy the right drill bit if you need to. Hose can be pulled off of reel easily. And best of all the hose winds back up easy. I do return the hose to a straightish line in front of the reel before winding it in to stop it catching on wall corners, plants and car tyres. Love the fact its hinged against the wall so you go left or right with the hose. Upgraded my hozelock connectors to the higher grade versions for a few extra pounds. Proof of the pudding will be in a couple of years, but so far totally love these hose reels. Use an old wet cloth to hold the hose as it winds back for perfectly clean hose.
Only dislike was the provided screws. Chose to use larger ones than those provided. The ones it came with would have probably done but preferred a bit bigger ones. The unit was easy to install and i liked the provided template printed on the box to mark the wall for the screw holes. The product is well made and functions as expected. Will bring it indoors for the winter months and store in the garage as it will not be needed. This is made easy as the bracket remains on the wall and the body of the reel can be lifted off once the padlock is removed (if used) removed and the bracket opened It remains to be seen how the unit will perform over the long term.

Quality product but mounting bracket could be better. Mounting screws with cross heads are easily rounded; would be better if they were hexagonal bolts, especially as you need long screwdrivers to bypass the axle on the mounting bracket.

Wish I had invested in one ages ago. Ease of use makes watering far less of a chore – getting the hose out, connecting it to the tap, winding it up and hanging the hose back in the garage. It is there ready for use and stores the hose perfectly. A couple of tips:- make sure the hose is empty and run the hose through a cloth when you get it to rewind.
An absolutely great product! I’ve been keeping my eye on the price to drop for this for a while and managed to get a deal on it, otherwise they are mighty expensive for a hose!
However, if you hate trying to wrap hoses up this is the one for you.

Easy to fit. Didn’t realise all the stuff was tucked behind one of the side panels so used my own screws and rawlplugs which was probably a good idea as some reviews here mention that those supplied aren’t quite up to the job. It takes two people to remove the unit off the wall bracket but the bracket can then be fitted onto the wall by one person and the unit can be fitted back onto the bracket by one person. Early days yet but so far does what I want, it’s great and winds itself up quite nicely. I’ll post back here in a year and let you know how it’s going.
Having previously wasted the cost of this excellent hose on the so-called x-hose type shrinking hoses, which are so fragile we went through 4 of them in 6 weeks, never to be repeated, I can’t praise the Hozelock Auto Reel enough, tough and reliable. Do not ever waste money on the so-called x-hose type shrinking hoses as they are absolutely useless.
Why weren’t these available years ago? Takes all the effort out of watering and all that effort (and wet feet) saved in manually rewinding a cantankerous hose. Watering the garden is now fun and no longer a chore. You are advised to use much longer and stouter wall fixings than those supplied, though.
Amazing hose. Easy to install, doesn’t kink, and it’s super easy to rewind, as it automatically directs the incoming hose left and right to evenly distribute it on the coil. Just one note: make sure you get the right length for your garden, rather than going for the biggest you can, as you’ll lose water pressure the longer the hose is.
Easy to fit to wall,though other half used his own wall plugs and screws.
Appears to work well but we were concerned to find the package with the hose and wall fittings was missing.
I contacted Amazon as the hose is unusable without these. Initially I was told we would have to dismantle the hose and return it for a refund. Eventually they were kind enough to offer us a discount to cover the cost of buying the fittings elsewhere.
We later discovered by accident that you have to remove the side panel to locate the fittings pack! This is not mentioned anywhere in the instruction booklet!
The reel looks nice and is not as bulky as expected.
Works well. The pull out/locking mechanism I haven’t worked out exactly. ie I thought I could pull out and it locked as you did, so it locks as much as you’ve pulled out. But it doesn’t seem to do so (only used once), so I have to pull out and walk back to the unit, while holding the tension, to manually lock it.
Ordered 2 of Hozelock Auto Reels, on arrival one was in perfect condition and worked well, my son required the second one but found his had a flawed hose about 10/15 meters in on the 40 meter length , Reported this to Amazon and an exchange was given straight away.. My son is now as pleased as myself with this very good and easy to use product .
Looking for a new house for a little while but never quite got round to deciding which to go for. Saw the Hozelock 40m auto return on Amazon and realised I would need the longer hose to reach from the back to the front of the house. It arrived in timely fashion and I had somewhat underestimated the weight of 40 metres of quality hose! The kit includes a template for the mounting holes with screws and plastic plugs, albeit the latter are on the small side for such a weighty item . The bracket supplied makes for easy “lift on” of the main hose box which properly mounted provides 180 degree rotation. This is a quality product and I would not hesitate to recommend it particularly the auto rewind version with the longest length version.
excellent product. Had loads of wall mounted hoses but the way the case rolls the hose back around the drum is fabulous. No more hoses all bunched up on one side or the other. Great piece of kit but its quite large on the wall. All in all very happy with the product.
I had heard mixed reviews about hozelock products but this one is worth a purchase, the autoreel functionality is intuitive and so far works flawlessly.
This product is an actual godsend, if you struggle reeling in your hose ….. buy this now!
My poor husband had one of these as his birthday gift even though he didn’t know he needed one. Perhaps not the gift one would usually give but when he wont give a clue as to what he wants, it is his hard luck! But it wasn’t hard luck, he loves it. All those years of much faffage with manual reels and kins in the hosepipe are but a bad memory.
1 thing I like to do is hold a damp rag at the mouth of the auto-retract loosely around the hose as garden debris will stick to the hose and may build up inside the unit over time.
Choosing the best position to mount the hose is important!
Looks great, mounted well, reel seems to work consistently (although I’m not a very heavy user). Swings around easily, and the pipe seems also be of fairly good quality as it hasn’t kinked up in the usual horrible way. Overall, I would recommend this.
Great piece of kit. Makes watering the garden an easy task. I bought this for my 87 year old dad. Now he can water his garden without getting the hose all knotted up and use with very little effort. This is really heavy (hopefully making it robust) so he couldn’t fit it but my hubby fitted with no probs. It came very well packaged.

The reason it has got only four starts is that when mounted as per instruction it fell off the wall. The screws and 1 inch wall plugs supplied are totally inadequate to take the weight unit on the wall. It took a trip to the local B&Q store to obtain some 4 inch screws and wall plugs. These are now holding quite well.
This was a repeat purchase – very good product indeed. Make sure that you mount it VERY robustly as it is heavy when full of water and takes a lot of strain when the hose is pulled out. Excellent product for the money. The hose quality is adequate for garden usage and does not kink in use. It is not at the Tricoflex live of quality. Rewind mechanism works well. I have had another one of these for about 3 years and it is still going strong.
Comes with fittings, but I’d recommend adding Hozelock Pro metal fittings for the ends – I had them on the old hose and they’re very sturdy and much less prone to leaks and drips.
Its very sturdy and makes watering so much easier. The only thing I would say is that I had to use other screws and the not the ones supplied to fix to the wall. At first you think that the bracket wont hold the reel box but once you put it all in place it seems study and you can pull the hose easily and retract it too with little effort. Its rather pricing but worth it.
Although this is perfect for my needs and is a great piece of equipment, I noticed when disposing of the box after installing and many weeks later it was in fact a 30m reel not 40m as sold, however it seemed too much hassle to complain as there was no direct link to the supplier that I could see, but on reflection I could have done with the extra 10 metres, I think I have left it too late to complain although this was an honest mistake. This is my second hose of this specification. Please be aware that the rawl plugs and the screws supplied are not up to the job……mine fell off the wall after a 3 months with no warning and smashed so hence the second hose. A friend of mine bought exactly the same model and his also fell from the wall but luckily didn’t break. However i can’t fault the hose and rewind facility its the best thing going with no more hose left lying about its a great benefit. Make sure you get good rawl plugs and screws of at least 4″ in length.
This is my second – the first was faulty and showed up a basic design flaw of not being able to rewind the hose manually should it not work. Having got the replacement set up I found the item excellent to use – the auto-rewind works a treat and makes it so much easier using the hose around the garden and yard for washing cars etc – very pleased but I’m still wary of it faulting again hence the 4 stars and not 5.
Mostly excellent – it needs better screws and plugs than those supplied. Ours fell off the wall on the third use. It’s also quite heavy to pull the hose out especially to its fulll 40 metres ( this may be less of a problem with shorter lengths) – but the return mechanism is excellent. Our old wind up is now redundant!
Bought this for a very large garden where the last hose was filthy and sticky from age. It works really well and is a pleasure to use. No more fighting with the hose, just grab and walk to where you need it and then when done feed it back in. Perfect!

I am very pleased with this hose – no more dirt!
The best hose I have ever had! Because… although the reel is much larger than I anticipated, ( it will be if it has to house a 40m hose), the hose itself is extremely good quality, the rewind mechanism is superb, no more fiddling around winding the hose manually onto a reel which invariably causes kinks. I can now easily water any part of my garden, no more joining hoses, watering us now a simple process that is especially appreciated during the hot weather when twice daily watering is required. Excellent product, highly recommend as it does exactly what you need it to do.
before buying this hose i had bought 2 x hoses both returned faulty due leaking and bursting,so decided to buy a conventional hose.i have to say this is brilliant, yes you have to pull it out to where you need it, but the auto retract system works a treat, smooth and easy.no leaks or kinks.i have noticed the 40mtr version does loose a little pressure, but not enough to worry about.fitting was easy enough, but as a previous reviewer has mentioned a template would make it easier. expensive but worth it.
UPDATE. Had this 9 years now and still going strong.
Easier to fit than I expected it to be and used daily since with no problems.
One observation, seeing as how Hozelock have fitted a locking hasp, obviously acknowledging the fact that the unit can be stolen quiet easily by simply lifting it off the wall bracket you’d think for the money they’d supply a suitable padlock!
Early days but happy with product so far.
Ever got cross in a tangle with your hose! No moor. This is amazing. No more hose left in a heap when you can’t be bothered to wind it up. It does it itself. I bought the 40 m as I have a long garden. It is huge and heavy. It came off the wall,with the screws they gave me. I had to get bigger ones and use different plugs. My walls are old and crumbly tho.
however now its up it performs extremely well . it’s light to manoeuvre whilst deploying and as for the self rewind its fantastic- well worth the extra money (little to chose from in comparison to the 30m version) would suit someone less able or someone who finds gardening more difficult with advancing years
I was cautious about buying this; Hozelock’s reputation is somewhat overrated: it does not matter what you spend on a hose gun: it will rarely last more than a year; additionally, some reviewers have found some unreliability. After using it a dozen times it continues to work extremely well; I should have bought one decades ago; the hose itself is good quality and quite resistant to kinking
The auto rewind facility is amazing, no more winding up and untangling the hose. Just make sure you have an untangled hose and you guide it properly.
The swivel ability allows me to take the hose around corners quite easily as we use the hose for front and back gardens.

Originally purchasing the 40 metre version and due to Amazons diabolical packaging I swopped for 30 metre version and am extremely delighted. I also purchased the Hozelock Multilock Spray Gun and the combination of the two items is awesome.The hose lock/release takes a bit of getting used to but after a while you get used to the knack of using it. I was rather sceptical regarding the strength of the wall kit fixings but if you take care when drilling the holes for the rawlplug fixings everything will be fine. Please be aware that if the hose is left in an area exposed to potential burglars buy a padlock and use the padlock facility as it can easily be lifted of the wall.
I ordered this on Saturday and it was delivered on the following Monday with the free postage. It is a superb item and very easy to install and use. I have had no problems with locking the hose whatsoever and it rewinds smoothly. I have just reseeded the lawn and needed the hose to reach over 30 mtrs. I have to water it every day in hot weather and I used to have to leave the normal hose across the patio and lawn which looked a mess. Now i can water the seeds and the hose winds back and out of the way. It also seems to produce higher pressure than my two old joined hoses.
Makes watering the plants, tubs & baskets easy. Screw it on to the wall, attach to the outdoor tap, and it’s ready to use. It reels out smoothly, and when you are finished watering, it reels back in on it’s own. No winding, no turning, & no kinks in the hose. It extends 40 feet. Delivered within a couple of days, no problems. It is a large & heavy product, but that just confirms the excellent quality. Highly recommended.
I suffer with lower back problems and bought the auto rewind hose reel to make life easier. Following the instructions we found it easy to fit on a wall with the enclosed fittings. We liked the fact you could lock it with a padlock – good to deter the opportunist thief. The rewind mechanism feels quite robust and as a consequence it probably wouldn’t suit someone frail as you need a bit of strength to pull the hose out. The hose appears to be good quality which we hope will last a long time. We bought the 40m version but compared to our previous 30m manual rewind hose we found the water pressure dropped a bit due to the increased length, so bear this in mind. Rewinding is a doddle – you give it a tug and it automatically rewinds the hose for you. It’s very neat, you can swivel it 180 degrees, it does what it says.
Overall we are very pleased with the purchase and would recommend this hose reel.
But back to the story, it did not take very long at all to securely affix the Hose Reel to the wall next to the outside water supply. As it pivots and can be folded back when not in use, parallel to the wall, it is much tidier looking than our previous reel which protruded at a 90 degree right-angle.
It seems sturdy, well made and performs very efficiently. and we hope will stand the rigours of outdoor life and give many years of good, trouble free service. So far very pleased with our purchase.
I purchased this as a warehouse deal as “used” for a good price, I already had on and was very happy with it, however when it arrived the mounting pin was missing, so it was not possible to wall mount it. When I contacted Amazon customer service I was told that because it was a warehouse deal they could not do anything but to refund the purchase price if I returned it and pay for the return. I rang Hozelock customer service, they were very understading and sent the pin F.O.C. so all was well in the end.
Quite large lump of plastic which thankfully can be swung back against the wall. Fitting was simple but made easier by having all the tools together first… with level. The screws appear to be man enough for the quite weighty lump especially with 40m of hose full of water….so far so good no weakness yet. Operation of hose is now easy with the self winding recoil system but the corner hose feed is handy/easier for long hose pulls. Value was good via Amazon v’s local DIY alternatives. I am happy with the price and the product.
Unpacked the contents from it’s box and set to work mounting it onto a pebble-dash wall, not the easiest of surfaces to mark-up four screw holes without a template. No clue in the instructions for the best height to position it so decided about waist high would suffice. I used the screws and plugs supplied and discovered they are of ample size to secure it firmly in place, after a few weeks it hasn’t budged even with all the sharp tugs and extra weight when full of water. I also fitted three hose guides that I advise on purchasing for the corners of the building, the hose stop and connector can be fed through without having to dismantle them, something that hasn’t been mentioned. It is just a dream to operate, easy peasy!
It is so easy to use that we have now purchased one for my elderly relative to use.
The only slight problem is that the locking sytem sometimes doesn’t work first time but if that happens, it always clicks in after a few tugs on the hose.
Would highly recommend this hose for all ages to use.
