Have wanted one of these for ages but put it off because of the price – it’s worth every penny. Easy to install with easy to follow instructions (if you can put up a picture on a solid wall, you can install this). Such a huge time saver as it’s always ready to go. It locks the hose at your chosen length and then when you’re finished, a sharp tug on the hose and it all retracts quickly and smoothly. Things to note: 1) it is large – if you’re mounting it in a confined space such as beside a shed or behind a gate, make sure you measure it first. 2) the screws supplied have the usual cheap soft heads on them so burr off easily when you’re tightening them; also the rawlplugs supplied are not compatible with the length of the screws. Otherwise the practicality more than makes up for any slight frustrations. Brilliant product.
Fixings I.e. screws. The screws supplied are totally inadequate. We used larger screws but these were also not enough to keep on the wall and had to revert to getting large bolt screws directly into the concrete and hope that this is the answer. I do feel the supplier needs to supply adequate fixings otherwise the hose will fall to the ground and get damaged and replacement will be necessary which is bad for business. Have owned it since the summer and it has performed well. They do advise to take indoors during the winter but I have left it on the wall up-till now. It’s light enough to remove from the wall in any case but I’m thinking it will need draining properly to avoid puddles in the garage. The auto-reel mechanism works flawlessly; it doesn’t kink and get snarled up like every other hose-pipe seems to. There may be slightly reduced pressure as its 30m in length, but my 150 bar Nilfisk pressure washer works without any problems. Yes it’s expensive, but hopefully no need to buy another one ever again.
I purchased the 20m hose for my mum which also works well.
Only used a couple of times so far, winter weather, not leaving outside on the wall don’t want it to freeze.
Be warned this is a real beast of a machine, not a light weight to lift on and off wall mounting/
Why have I not purchased one before?! Probably as it is not cheap however I think it is worth every penny having used it. No more hosepipe lying on the ground to trip over, the easy reel is fantastic so simple to use and doesn’t get jammed in the unit as it moves from side to side whilst reeling in. Definitely five stars from me.
Replaced my old one and just love using it for anything outside around house and garden. Great for using with Karcher for car wash as well as hosing anywhere in garden or patio. Would definitely recommend it. Great value for money.
2nd Hozelock In 2 years spring snapped twice, the 20m one got 14 months out of it and used around 3/4 times a week, the 30m was approx same snapped coils wit little use. Best Buy the cheap ones at least you can get 2 for the price of 1. Recommended to not buy.
Purchased this 8 years ago – it has been brilliant piece of kit after suffering with tangled kinked hoses for far too long. I have treated it really badly – letting the 40m reel back in at lightning speed without a hand on it when it’s meant to be walked back in at a more sedate speed, left out every winter, reeled in when full of water, reeled in with lots of garden debris attached to it. Despite that – it has worked faultlessly until now. The gear locking mechanism has broken inside – appears to be a plastic gubbins – so can only hold the hose in extended position by using the lock switch on side. Pretty sure it’s the wild retraction technique I’ve been inflicting on it for years. Plan to buy a new one and apply a little more care – but very happy to have got 8 years out of it.

L O V E this! Got it for my barn to fill water buckets up. The best thing I’ve bought for the barn. It keeps the floor clean as it retracts back into itself and there’s no having to coil anything up. Just fasten it to the wall and go. The niggles was the pipe inside wasn’t fitted to the outside/feed pipe and the screws where small so we put some good 6 inch ones in.
Heavy to install but very easy to manipulate and to rewind
Although expensive, its’ a favourite buy for my garden.
After years of adding an extension to my original hose, I can now reach every corner of my garden with this.
Also notice its much improved regarding kinking.

Really happy with this hose reel… just needed to connect the pipe inside and tighten with a threaded nut. Works as it should, no messing about wraping the hose up, just release the mechanism by pulling the hose and it retracts the hose automatically…
This hose is working very well, wife is in love with me again. However, fixing it to wall is a nightmare. The reason for this, it’s fixing holes are so close to corner of fixing brackets and there is a huge pillar goes in the middle of wall bracket which stops screwdrivers to reach to those holes. The angle is very bad, you cannot use cordless screwdriver or short screwdriver because pillar stops it. You need really long strong screwdriver to screw it. It took me two days to fit it. Beside that hose is good quality and mechanism works well..

I’m a big fan and have bought two of these now. I see so many sad and cracked reels that are leaking, on the floor in a tangled mess or require the biceps of Popeye to wind them up. Buy this, pull it out, water, it pulls itself back in, done. You may have to hunt around for the longer lengths.
This has been a dream to use – after the first proved so useful I bought a second – and it has been just as consistent. Never had a problem with either – highly recommended!

This product is brilliant, its easy to install and use and makes the usual hard work of watering a large garden easy peasy! I would totally recommend this product to any gardener.
I don’t know how I have managed all these years without this. It is so easy to use. Gets the job done so much quicker than using my old hose on a reel. The thing I love best about it is the comfortable way the hose retracts perfectly back inside the drum. I absolutely love it and highly recommend. Totally recommend this item.
I have the 90ft version for the back garden which has been great over the past four years and needed smaller version for the veg patch at the side of the house, realise there is less hose etc, but it does seem very flimsy and a thinner hose , will see how it goes as just bought , but not impressed .

I had to check the delivery date because it was delivered far, far more swiftly than they had advised. This company under promised and over delivered!!! I had been advised it would take months for delivery but I liked the look of it anyway and I am just so delighted with myself for following my gut. What did we put up with before this? Tangles, kinks and massive winding up issues! This is simply brilliant! 5 year guarantee, so no kit failure issues and everyone enjoys using the hose now.
I’m buying another one for the chicken paddock and duck pond!
One word of caution, The provided screws and rail plugs weren’t man enough for the job. This is a heavy unit (17.12kg) and definitely a 2 person fixing job, and much larger fixing plugs and screws are required for brick wall installation (6cm at least).

hese are good I own one already, and have owned it for a number of years,But for something that weighs 17kg empty before water is in the pipe, then being pulled out and in and moving around on its mount.The screws are nt nearly strongly enough!,they would be highly unlikely to even get to the end of the warranty period!, the original one is mounted on a steel wall mount which i made ( engineer/welder), this one is undergoing a rethink before it is fitted

Easy to use and comfortably waters both back and front gardens although find it rather heavy
I was fed up with my old hose kinking and having to walk back to sort it out. Also the hassle of winding it in and having to twist it every now and agin so that it coiled properly. The Auto Reel solves all of those problems. You pull out the amount of hose you need and then let the hose lock itself. You can even manually lock it if you wish. You can then manoeuvre the hose to where you want to go. When finished watering you return to the hose unit and by pulling on the hose gently it then releases the locking mechanism and rewinds itself. It is important to control the rewind with your fingers as otherwise it would rewind too quickly and damage itself.

Great product – the auto reel works great – just make sure when it rewinds it’s at a draft pace and there are no kinks in the hose – it is a sturdy hose so kinks are less likely to happen.

The unit is quite big. This was working very well until the attachment came off the wall and the unit fell. Now re-installed with longer screws and fittings. Good length of hose, does not leak and comes with a fair amount of add-ons. The wind mechanisms works as it should even after one year’s use. Overall recommended.
This product is great we no longer have to join pcs of pipe together. Easy to pull out and return.
Arrived promptly and easy to assemble. It does the job brilliantly. No more messing about winding hosepipe in manually. It’s worth mentioning that it is quite heavy so really important to mount it securely to the wall.

I use it for watering my tubs, the garden, filling up the pond. Easy to pull out and rerolls itself quickly to pack away. Very pleased with this product.
Very impressed with the hosepipe,was a bit sceptical that 40m of pipe could auto rewind but it does! Watch your fingers at the last bit because that ball at the end can nip you. The tail of pipe is for you to fit so if it is too short (which it was) you can just customise your own. The connectors supplied are the old style ones which seems a bit tight for the price of the product. No leaks yes and wife is very happy. The Hozelock Youtube video made it look dead easy to fit so I broke my own rule and used the supplied fitting kit. The screws were too tight for the plugs so when I managed to get them out found slightly narrower ones in my man cave. With hindsight should have used my own plugs and some no8 Hex screws. The screws supplied were twice the length of the supplied plugs which is daft.Got there in the end.
This is the second Hozelock auto reel we have purchased, they make watering, especially a large garden, a much easier and quicker task.
Works really well…easy to install, hose can be pulled out easily, no kinks at all, glides back in automatically, no handles, twists or snags….great product, recommend

There were.parts of the installation that could of been done before dispatch/during the manufacture ie connecting the hose internally. Seemed easy but is a 2 person especially when putting it in the wall bracket.
would recommend getting different screws with stronger raw plugs and thicker screws, the ones the come with it look incredibly small for something that’s over 15kg, but had it outside for nearly a month now and has been amazing the auto reel is amazing works very well on our Karcher jet washer, would definitely recommend this product but just do not use the screws or the raw plugs provided

Bought this hose reel four years ago and last week the rewind spring failed. I contacted Hozelock to ascertain that I did have a five year warranty on this item and yes, I did. They very quickly assessed what the issue was , asked for a copy of my invoice and arranged dispatch of a new one, which arrived today. Very quick, rapid email responses. I can not fault their after sales service. All I had to do was provide a photograph proving that I had cut the hose off the old reel ( It is impossible to repair the spring as it is highly tensioned and Hozelock do not supply parts or even encourage dismantling) thus rendering it nigh on impossible to perform a repair and that was it. Wish I could get the same results from some other companies!

Don’t be a donkey like me, the hose connectors were not inside the box, so I thought you must have to order them separately…I bought a hose connection pack and when I prized of the cover to connect the hose to the tap, there was a pack of connectors and a pack of wall fixings!

Fantastically easy to set up – plenty of adjustment in the bracket holes so you get a really good level fitting. Very neat and compact. We have a fairly large garden which needs the 40m length of hose and this has just taken all the utter pain away from the last hose we used! The re-coil is superb and layers the pipe perfectly. Really good solid piece of kit- can highly recommend. Would suggest making sure the hose is relatively clean before re-coiling as dirt and grit could affect the recoil mechanism over several years of use but having said that may not be a problem at all! Overall – really pleased with this purchase.
The product has been improved since an equivalent bought about 8 years ago. The improvements make the reel much easier to use and are a significant enhaceme
I assembled it and it showered water from all the wrong places, on investigation there appeared to be a seal missing. Contacted Hozelock who posted a single…yes single o ring to fix it. Did the job and I’m glad I bought from them so they could send out a spare part.
Fast easy and simple. Mounting like plug and play. Easy to use tidy look. Got the 40m edition and it absolutely reaches everywhere
I had the 20m version but not quite long enough for the garden and as this was was so good bought the 40m same features and just as excellent would never return to a manual wind up hose reel!
Due to a shoulder injury, I was unable to use my previous manually wound hose reel. I therefore installed the Hozelock Auto Reel although I was dubious that it could cope with a full 40 meters of hose.
I needn’t have worried, once mounted the reel handled any length of hose and happily rewound the full length.
Relatively easy to assemble (ideally need two people as it’s quite large). Works well, reels itself back in nicely. So far so good!
40m…. its a long hose and it does what it says! Very happy, i can reach the cars all the way around the house
I think the Hozelock products are great this one has replaced a shorter one that I have had for over 25 years and still going strong.
Followed the installation instructions explicitly. The screws provided aren’t up to the job though… easily rounded off going in and were then so stuck they were rounded off trying to extract. Now stuck with two screws not quite securing the wall bracket 100% to the wall and no way to either tighten or extract them.
The hose itself though, works great!
This was a replacement for our previous one. Very necessary with a long garden and the veggie patch needing watering often. We are on our 70s so an automatic rewind hose is an essential. Best thing eve
Wall fixings are difficult to make. Its necessary to be very accurate in positioning the holes for the attachment screws. There is no play in the fixing holes so in my case I could not insert the 4th screw fully. However the attachment seems to be sound and has not given any concern.
The unit design is good and there were no leaks when the water was turned on. Hose pulls out well and retracts properly but the ratchet that holds the hose in the extended position does not function well. I have found it difficult to make it work and have to pull out a few feet several times before the hose stays out in the extended position. Worth 4 stars overall.
Easily covers the front and back gardens, easy recoil when putting away. Very easy to mount on the wall, the swivel action allows the housing to pushed against the wall so saving on space
I bought this to replace an old 30 meter hose that wasn’t long enough and was causing me problems. The only problems with assembly were that it was incredibly difficult to remove the old Hoselock hosepipe auto reel from the wall and no-one in my household would help me! It is quite a big unit to handle on your own and also it is difficult to line up the horizontals and verticles against brickwork. Now it is up the hose runs very smoothly and there are no leakages from the tap. I am delighted with it.
This is a great piece of equipment and I only bought this to replace the previous one that an over-zealous builder managed to break!
I wouldn’t be without one and so I purchased anew one immediately.
By no means cheap … but it is good.
Difficult to put on the wall as you have to screw it in at an angle but once it is up its brilliant.

This self retracting hose works well, with the hose auto rewinding without tangles. This 40 metre one comes in the same LARGE casing as the 30 metre and can be found at similar or lower price. We have a 20 metre one still working well after several years.
It is heavy so needs to be fixed well to a solid wall.
The first delivered one leaked inside the drum and was exchanged. Should this occur, don’t attempt to dismantle and fix yourself; the retractor spring stores a lot of energy which when released would likely cause injury!
Mmmmm. This is my second one. The first I had to send back as it leaked from inside which I only found out when I had fixed it to the wall. You cannot fix this problem without taking it to a speacialist so I returned it and got a replacement. So, I had to take it down again, re box it and return. The return I did by collection which was very good and the replacement item came the next day. VG. After having to refix the new one to the wall it worked fine. Shame about the hiccup!!!!
Love this!! So easy to use and to rewind, Wish is had this when it first came out instead of wasting money in cheaper rubbish hosses. It is heavy but once on the wall no need to worry about that.
Very easy to use but not enough tension on the recoil. Also the spay nozzle tends to drip a bit when off but the tap is left on. Overall I’m pleased with it. It’s on the wall and long enough to reach everywhere in the garden.
So far so good. Glad it reaches to the 4 corners of my garden.
It seems to work really well and we’re very happy not to have a long and twisted hose snagging on pots and posts but it’s very early days. Ask me in five years and we’ll see if it’s still working.
I’ve had a Hoselock before, so I knew the quality and wasn’t disappointed. Does what it does simply and without fuss. Easy enough to mount with a drill and a screwdriver.
It is easy to move around, also the hose is easy to pull out and retract. For the price the quality is good. I would recommend this produce. Do make sure that, due to the weight of the product, you secure it properly to the wall.
Great all around except the Hozelock package comes with screws to mount the hoses.
For the weight when in use, the screws are not long enough. After mounting I’ve had to remount the Hozelock with longer screws.
I didn’t think they were long enough, but presumed the suppliers knew what they were doing. I should have gone with my intuition and swopped out the screws for longer ones in the beginning.
MUCH MUCH easier that my old winder hose, sometimes its a little hesitant to pull back into the holder, but overall a great bit of kit, and a good price on Amazon too.
It’s a great hose as we have front and side of house beds and used to have to attach a second hose for watering. Just make sure you have someone strong enough to lift it into place and attach it to the wall, then you’re fine.
I would have rated this item as 5-star but for the fact that the first one received leaked water from inside.
There is no way to find where the leak is coming from as it is a sealed unit.
Replaced very promptly and this unit works perfectly. Rewind is really easy, saving energy.
I didn’t find fitting this hose reel too difficult. The 40m version is quite big so make sure you have sufficient room for it to swing around. The spring inside that coils the hose up is strong but if you accidentally let go of the hose it willtake up about 20cms and then stop so there is no danger of hands getting trapped in the machine. I always pull out all the hose I need for the whole garden before I start watering (seems obvious). I stretch the hose out when I’m ready for it to coil up this way it has a nice clean run to the machine. Make sure you fit the one way valve on the reel spray nozzle end so when you remove the nozzle it doesn’t spray over you and obviously turn the tap off before removing any bits.
YES I would definately buy this again!

We are delighted with our purchase, which may be on the expensive side for a hosepipe but it’s worth every penny!
No more getting it wrapped around our legs and tripping over it and no more hard work, winding it up again. The hosepipe itself does not kink and rewinds smoothly into the housing. The additional corner bracket we purchased
to guide it round the side of the house is also brilliant because it stops the hose getting stuck. Absolutely brilliant!
Purchased for my dad who grew tired of winding the hose back up, this is perfect as it does it automatically, product is good quality and durable.
A gardener’s dream Our hose used to lay on the lawn as I could not be bothered to wind it back by hand which was both time consuming & un inconvenient to put it away. Now, it takes seconds & it’s so easy
Easy to fit and use. The only thing is that you have to watch how quickly the hose is pulled back into the reel and feed it in gently. Apart from that it’s a great buy and avoids the ‘who used the hosepipe last and didn’t roll it up’ argument that you get with manual hose reels.
I bought this system as my garden is very big and I need to use the reel in three different directions. I have used all 50 meters so I was well impressed when, after finishing the watering, on a single ‘tug’ the whole hose length Rapidly rewound on its own!

Only problem was it was very heavy , so we needed help to install it to the wall. It swivels and retracts very well and removes the need to rewind when finished,Quite expensive but worth the money
One of the best thing about this product is that it dosn’t get tangled up like my previous hose, and is very easy to rewind. I should have bought it earlier would have saved a lot of work. A very good buy.
It is easy to use and does not kink. Lovely hose pipe , would buy another. When you retract the hose guide it back in and use a cloth to wipe it as it reels in.
Had one of these previously, and had no problems. This one purchased as a gift. Great product and the rewind facility well worth paying a bit extra for as the hand winding hoses tend to bunch up after a time and don’t always wind evenly causing irritating jamming.
Ups rubbish delivery. Left it outside front door for at least 4 hours Till i came home. No notification. No one in. They have then stated on tracking sytem it was signed for !!!.
Box also damage. Sorry not impressed. Item good though

Purchased this 40m Hozelock auto retractable hose back in November 2018 & have got to say was initially very please with both the ease of fitting along with the ease that it performed. Twelve months later, I started to experience the odd rewind issue but nothing too dramatic! However, now June 2020 less than 2 years old it appears to have totally jammed up. Be interested to see how Amazon responds!
So far so good, takes a bit of strength to pull the hose to the bottom of our garden but puts its self away brillianty, the only thing that lets it down is the silly little screws they supply to hang it on the wall as it’s quite heavy.
