Unlike a sump pump which only provides 1 bar pressure this has 3.5 bar enough pressure to drive a garden sprinkler Watering the lawn from a 200ltr water butt works perfectly once primed.

fantastic bit of kit for moving water. can run 4 garden spronklers of it from water butts. only snag is the plastic glass filter lid/cap leaking on first use, bit of lubeand PTFE has sorted it but hey, it shouldnt be like that.

I had a Hoselock Metal garden irrigation pump that , after a number of years, a key plastic component failed. This replacement is much quieter, and easier to prime. I think the pressure is higher. So all-in-all a good purchase

Pleased to receive this a day earlier than expected. As advertised and as per other reviews, so no surprises at all and had bought the various adapter parts for standard Hozelock fitting which work perfectly. Agree with other reviews that the power cable is too short, apart from than no issues at all.

Using this to pump water from various waterbutts to a garden sprinkler. Works well, is fairly quiet and the pressure is good.

Good power from hose when connected. Only fault is that there is no supplied fitting for a standard garden hose and you have to cut and adapt the supplied industrial sizes fitting. Strange omission.
Takes about 5 minutes to set up.

A great pump. It does come with one pipe So you can cut it in half or you have to supply one of the pipes yourself. For me cutting it wasn’t an option as it would’ve been too short so I had to spend 16 and another 1 inch diameter pipe but to be fair it doesn’t say that you get a inlet and an exhaust pipe. Once I’ve got it all set up though it’s amazing

This does the job. New grass is up a hill so we needed a pump, you must buy hoselock parts from Amazon or B&Q – B&Q also have a hose that will fit the larger fitting – we heated the smaller hose up to fit it on. It’s not highly powerful but it does the job. We also used it to pump water out of a broken hot tub and it worked really well. But fiddly in the beginning but once set up it works well.

Must buy Hoselock parts to use on tap/hose/sprinkle

Does the job, nice powerful pump, I use to draw water out of my well. As others have said does not fit standard hoses, need to buy large hose connector eg Hozelock 2158P9000 1″ 33.3mm
Also input hose needs to be weighted under the water and had to attach some metal weights with cable ties to stop the plastic hose just floating on top of the wate

Dislike the fact that although this pump worked very well I now have to find and order an adaptor to fit a standard hose pipe, why is this either offered as an option on Amazon or included in the box by Hozelock?

This is a great pump and has allowed us to access water that will see it pay for itself in a short space of time. Used for garden watering and filling livestock water bowser. In this dry month it is already transferring about 1000 lites a day. Simple to use and ready to go.

I have used this pump a lot and it says it should auto prime. I rarely find it works if I don’t add water to prime it first. Once going it works well. make sure you have the right hose to fit to it as the sizing is much bigger than standard garden hose (as you’d expect if you want a decent flow rate).

I bought this to replace a previous model of Hozelock pump. Takes a bit of work to put together and prime but very effective once working. I do still find it inferior to the original model for two reason. Firstly it uses a different size of hose connector. One is supplied with the pump but you won’t find spares easily and will need to order directly from hozelock – annoying if you want to swap between using several different hoses. Secondly once you turn it off if you don’t remove the inlet pipe from the water source then the pump continues to siphon water. Expensive for what it is but I haven’t found a more effective alternative.

A brilliant powerful pump using for an outside irrigation barrel
Have to keep the pump topped up in the clear glass if it runs out of water
My only gripe is the connections to a hosepipe
Not at all easy so I had to cut off the elbow and then a normal tap connector would fit but luckily I removed the elbow and used a fitting I already had and then attached a washing machine hose that then could be adapted .
Be careful as the black pipe comes in a roll and I gently tried to straighten it out to go to the bottom of the barrel and it snapped and doesn’t seem at the minute that the end connectors come off so that the black pipe can be shortened . I’m sure I will adapt it somehow but will take some thinking .
I have mine connected to a relay with an irrigation controller that’s WiFi compatible to when I programme the irrigation to come on it the controller switches the pump on and off to suit the times watering is required .
Over all it’ arrived today and doing the job nicely , let’s just hope it lasts 🙂

    Great product so fa

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThe product itself does a good job but I don’t think it was designed for the UK and unless you are lucky you can’t use it straight from the box. As others have said the hose connector is too big for a normal garden hose and you need to hacksaw off the appropriate section, which is marked accordingly, and screw on a push on type hose connector, again this was larger than the standard but luckily B&Q had a Tap adjuster of the correct size in their gardening section. The other problem I found was the suction hose which is 7 metres long was far too unwieldy for use in a water butt, ideal for a well or someone living by a river. That problem was solved by cutting off a length of the hose about a foot from the filter end and rejoining the hose using a 20mm hose connector from an aquatic centre, again not straight forward as the hose does not appear to be a uniform size and I had to wrap a length of self bonding tape around the hose connector to obtain a tight fit. Finally I had to attach a length of stiff rod to the end in the water butt to stop the hose curling up. Unless you have a large supply of water I don’t think it would be any use for an unsupervised lawn type sprinkler as it gets through 3000 litres an hour but is ideal for a hand sprinkler for flower beds, tubs etc as the pressure output is similar if not stronger than household mains pressure.

As countless people have said it’s utterly ridiculous that you have to buy extra Hozelock fittings to make your Hozelock pump compatible with Hozelock fittings!
That said I’m really pleased with the pump. I regularly empty a number of hot tubs with a sump pump but they don’t provide any pressure so we couldn’t push the water through a garden sprinkler. This one does and does it really well even when the sprinkler is over a metre higher and 20m away from the tub.
Provides pressure equivalent to a strong garden tap, perfect for watering the garden and enabling us to reuse the water.

Golden Review Award: 59 From Our UsersI knew from other reviews that I would have to adapt this pump to work with a regular 1/2″ (12.5 mm) garden hosepipe. The pictures show how I did it. The parts needed (which I bought on Amazon / eBay) are (A) 2 x PVC reducing threaded nipple 1″ x 3/4″ BSP (B) 2 X Hozelock threaded outdoor tap connector (C) 2 x 22 mm rubber O ring seals. You don’t need any tools just put the O rings over the large end of the reducing adapters and screw them directly into the pump – just hand tight is fine otherwise you squash the O ring too much. The result is great with plenty of pressure to drive the sprinkler.

Great pump but doesn't include fittings for a regular 1/2" garden hose

Very impressed with this little pump. Very easy to use.

I collect water into a water butt and then use this pump to pump it onto my lawn. Very compact with a built in filter.

I will next be installing a sprinkler system and use the pump to power it.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI was a little sceptical reading some reviews that this would work. But it does the job to a tea. I wanted to use a well in our garden and attached this pump. I now have free water to water the gardens and attached it to the jet wash to clean all our patio areas and it works a treat. I did buy the the adaptor that a previous review suggested also and so had a very simple set up in 5 min when it arrived. YOU NEED THE ADAPTOR. This review is based on 1 whole day of use. But it seems a really well built piece of kit.

Golden Review Award: 20 From Our UsersWe have low water pressure and watering the garden or using the sprinkler is so frustrating! So I thought this pump would solve everything…AND IT DID!
it took some working out how to connect it out and had to BUY two Big Connectors (33.3mm) Hozelock code 2158 – from Amazon.
These connect to the outflow (top port) and after cutting the curved connector to the level of the thread, to the inflow.
It works a treat…but using the pump in this way connected to the garden TAP, isn’t mentioned ANYWHERE..so if you want to boost the pressure from a garden (or any, I suppose) tap, this could be your answer.

The pump is a little noisy though hence only 4 stars

Golden Review Award: 12 From Our Users[UPDATE 08/08/18] Received my replacement the following day had it all hooked up within 10 minutes. As originally thought the metal thread for the suction hose was in the wrong way around on the original item – not on this one, all works fine. Ensure the priming reservoir is full and it will start up pretty instantly. Great pressure, runs a hose or sprinkler with the same pressure as a tap. Issue still stands that the 1″ tap connector is not included, just order this at the same time (https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00PNUC72G/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) – Gardena is cheaper than the hozelock version on Amazon

Great product, worth the very little extra on top of internal water butt pumps. I haven’t managed to use the product yet. I am currently returning due to the metal thread in the inlet appearing to be inserted the wrong way round – this is preventing the plastic connector being able to be screwed in. Also on inspection, as per the other reviews and questions, if you want to connect a normal garden hose, you will need to buy a 1″ tap connector (again not a standard size) as this is not included despite the description of “Ready to use jet pump”! Looking at the product it appears to be of good quality, however I think poor development has been put into the target market (standard home use) area. I would expect it would have been easier to provide an additional moulded ‘bend connection’ rather than expecting customers to cut plastic to make it fit and buy additional parts – what if i want to use both hose sizes? Once I receive a replacement I will update this review on the thread issue and performance, however the others need to be looked at by Hozelock as a fundamental floor.
