    Easy to use
Used to cut the worktops during new kitchen installation, the saw being cordless was light and easy to use, especially useful when cutting out for the sink and hob. You can concentrate on the cutting without having to watch out for the cable . I have in the past tried to do the same with a jig saw this gave far better results . Wish I had bought a finer blade less risk of chipping the worktop.

I’m a massive Makita fan having been in the building trade for 33 years. Would highly recommend buying the brushless range. Much more powerful that the standard Makita range.

    Can’t beat Makita
Such a good saw. Really accurate, really easy to use, good visibility, batteries last pretty well.. obviously these are sold separately.
Remember to sign up for the free extended warranty. I bought this as a replacement as my last saw after quite a lot of DIY over a 12 month period, my last one died it was 24 months old, so out of standard warranty and I was unaware of the 3 year extended warranty that Makita offer.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersMuch easier to use than wired counterparts
I’ve not made much use of this so far, but am impressed with how easy it is to use when one is not encumbered by a cable. Many times in the past, I have put off getting out my circular saw because of the cable problem, and instead made a less-good job using a cordless Sawzall . One think this has, which I am not used to is the brake. I’m used to having the blade spin-down instead of jerk and clanging noise when the brake cuts in. I realise this probably adds to the safety, but it seems unnecessary. I’m using this in conjunction with Makita DC18RC charger . As an alternative blade, for finer work, I have a Saxton TCT16560T 165mm x 60t TCT Thin Kerf Cordless Circular Saw Blade .

    Fantastic Saw
Won’t bang on about the specifics of this as it’s been done to death but I should of gone cordless years ago if this is anything to go by.
I love this saw and now gathering 18v LXT tools as I need them.

I deliberated for ages before buying this – don’t know how I ever managed without it.
It knocks the socks off my old corded circular saw – more accurate and much more powerful. The nice thin blade gives a brilliant cut. Its lightweight to handle and makes jobs a breeze.
If you have already bought in to the Makita 18v LXT battery range and have batteries, then what are you waiting for? If not, maybe it’s time to consider doing so….
Has become one of my Go To tools.
    Love it !

    powerful for the size
hough not as powerful as the 36v model this saw is a vast improvement on the older models of 18v saws that would give up just looking at any timber thicker than an inch.

great saw though the bed locking spindle isn’t that great a bit loose and not in the best position as it sometimes loosens off when laying it down between cuts.

This saw is a must for anyone looking to either replace a mains saw or if you already have Makita tools from the LXT 18v range and are in the market for a skill saw ! I would also recommend ( YABRA 18v. 5.5ah ) . aftermarket batteries

Best circular saw for the money
After a lot of research I decided to buy this one as it can be used with all my other LXT tools and batteries.

Lightweight compact and a pleasure to use. Wish I’d brought this years ago. First time used I couldn’t feel any resistance whilst cutting through MDF boards. So powerful and a great tool.

I would recommend this to anyone.

A nice easy to use and accurate cut.
The light is not worth having as it lights the saw blade and the blade is not easily visible when cutting. The main thing I do not like is all the sawdust being blown all over my legs while using it. This is worse when I had to cut the head of a garage door frame and got the sawdust in my eye’s and face while using it upside down. This is because the saw is made for a left handed person. I only realised this when I put it next to my 110v DeWalt saw. The motor is on the right hand side and would have to completely redesigned and all the ally casting’s changed. I got the saw because I had some other tools that use the same batteries and it was to late to send it back after I found this out.

wITH A FULLY CHARGED BATTERY THIS SAW IS GREAT, NO WIRES TO GET CAUGHT UP IN AND THE BATTERY LIFE IS REASONABLE. i USE BOTH 3 AMP AND 5 AMP BATTERIES. YOU CANNOT REALLY GO WRONG WITH MAKITA. I USED TO BE A TOOL HIRE MANAGER AND WE ONLY HIRED MAKITA, THAT GIVES YOU SOME IDEA OF THE QUALITY AND RELIABILITY.

THE SAW IS QUIETER THAN THE ELECTRIC EQUIVALANT AND THE BLADE STOPS PRETTY QUICK WHEN SWITCHED OFF. MNOSDT TRADES PEOPLE HAVE SWITCHED TO BATTERY POWER NOW FOR THE FLEXIBILITY IT GIVES AND THE FREEDON OF MOVEMENT

    Good power for 18v
Bought to replace an older, brushed Makita 18v saw. Old one is 3700 rpm, this is 5000rpm. Torque is good, it rips 2″ thick graded timber well enough, and cross cuts excellently. Have 110v and 36v saws also, and they’re obvious choices for ripping compared. Still, it has loads more power than the older, basic 18v unit. The hanger could rotate further, as it’s not the best. It’s a bit awkward and sometimes can’t get a good hold on a rafter. But, the old saw had no hanger, so still better than nothing. End of the day, can do all the cross cutting you need in first fix, and anything lighter than that is just easy work for it.

The brushless version is great, finally got to use it today it ripped through the 2×2 I was cutting without resistance and just bought an 80t blade to see what it’s like ripping through ply the older one my boss has is now starting to show its age and struggling even with new blades

    Lightweight and powerfull
Diyer’s best friend. I find it lightweight powerful. The saw stops spinning as you release the trigger which adds to the comfort and safety.
Does nice straight cuts, and even more accurate if you saw alongside a straight guide (Like a long level or a straight piece of wood) secured to a worktop.
After my power drill it is the tool I used the most and there are countless uses for it.
On a full 5mah battery I can last several days for light usage or a day for more heavy duty stuff.
The extra price you pay for the brushless motor and brake is absolutely worth it.

On the plus side it is also a nice looking tool if you like gadgets.

Lightweight and great to have around the house.
I’m very happy with my makita tools. They’ve been very reliable for medium home use. Probably a bit overkill for DIY but very happy to have treated myself with this. Cuts are accurate and smooth providing you line everything up correctly. This comes with the fence which I have used and was solid enough to give me a straight cut along a 45mm thick door.
Battery indicator is a useful addition and the attachment takes a Henry hoover and keeps everything surprisingly clean.
If anything changes I’ll update the review.

The right circular saw for all normal jobs.
The right size for straight smooth long cuts for normal thickness wood. I used to stay away as much as possible from circular saws them being monsters that start off with a motorcycle wheelee many times from all their power. This tool is super frindely, and lacks no power, nor stamina. Very nice.

    Good for professional use
The product is well priced, well made and easy to use. It came with a Makita branded wood blade which is also good quality.

This circular saw is the basic entry level model and has less functions than the more expensive models, but it does everything I need it for. I bought the brushless model as more power is generated from the batteries with brushless models.
If you’re thinking to buy this for small DIY jobs, you’re better off saving 50 and buying the brushed version though.

Should have bought this ages ago!
I’ve had a mains-powered Bosch for a long time and it did it’s job ok but then you need to run power to it and the motor was on the left so sawing down a piece of wood to length was awkward.

This little beast is GREAT! So…

    * It’s battery powered and I have many Makita things so that’s so easy.
    * The motor is on the right! Away from me when I’m using it – I can saw right close!
    * Brushless motor. Lasts ages. Batteries last longer.
    * All the usual adjustments for depth (up to 2″), angle up to 45 degree etc.
    * Dust extraction is surprisingly good – jam the end of Henry in it and there’s very little escapes.

To be fair, it’s not quite as powerful as the mains Bosch, but plenty powerful enough (I never use the Bosch any more)! You toolbox will thank you if you add this to it.

What can i say? Its well built, easy to use and quieter than a modern hoover. I no longer need hearing protection. Phenomenal cutting power!
I’ve had this saw for almost a year now and regret not getting one sooner. Bought this for a framing project I was working on, cutting treated 2×4 timber. My corded Bosch saw was struggling with cutting through the timber, especially at the end of the cut. First time I used this, it went through like the proverbial hot knife through butter.

The brushless motor in this is amazing, and the standard blade provides amazingly clean cuts as long as you adjust the depth setting properly. Adjusting the depth and bevel settings is easy with the large thumb levers. Make sure to have a good accurate square handy when setting the bevel back to 90 degrees.

Being cordless makes it so much more convenient, especially when ripping 8’x4′ sheets. If you already have some 18x LXT range of cordless Makita tools, get one of these!

Uses this to build a garden office. It has already more than paid for itself. Great to use. Light, powerful enough to sail through 2×6 joists and 18mm ply.

45 degree cuts were pretty easy. 5a battery rarely runs out before I need a break, but if cutting through sheets for a full morning or afternoon, you might want a spare battery. That said, the battery charges super quick.

An essential tool in my garage. Recommend.

She exceeded my expectations. The saw is great! It is easy to operate, adjustable, cut thin smoothly. Although the packaging is lousy, the accompanying printed matter is inferior, the additional components of the key, stop and nozzle are below the level and ridiculous for such a brand as Makita. But the performance, ease of use saws, my initial disappointment dampened.

Fantastic tool. I’m a carpenter and have been putting this saw to it for a few months now. This thing is half the weight, almost as powerfull, and only 10mm shallower cut depth than the chonkey makita corded one that I replaced with this. Took a bit of getting used to it being a left hand saw vs the right hand I’m used to but overall very pleased with this purchase.
Interesting peice of info: from the blade to the left edge of the shoe is 38mm, and from blade to right edge of the shoe is 89mm thats the metric dimensions of a 4×2

I really like this saw for being “left handed”. The line of sight is much easier to follow. The saw is reasonably light weight, yet very powerful. Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersVery good tool, worth money.
Very good tool. One of the best toys which I bought lately. Very useful and handy. Very light, allows for precise cuts. The battery indicator informing you when the power is low which is very handy. It’s very powerful like for small battery powered saw. Already helped me to built a roof on my shed and couple of smaller projects. It came without batteries but I already have couple of makita tools with two batteries therefore it wasn’t a problem for me.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersDon't get caught out like I did.
I have not had a chance to fully test this out and put it to its limits, but I cut a couple of simple 45×45 timber and it cuts just like a corded one. The tool is not heavy, feels comfortable and feels high quality, as expected by Makita.

Originally I ordered this elsewhere, but they messed me around, making me wait weeks. So I found it for the same price on here, came within a few days, cancelled the order from the other place.

This was before I just resorted to cutting by hand timber for my garage shelving, I know I may need this again in the future and I have the battery packs for it already so next time will not be a worry. Though unfortunately I couldn’t test it out on a proper project.

Cutting timber by hand if you’re not a professional is basically cutting wonky, especially if centimetres are a factor.

If I remember, next time I’ll update this review if I get a full out try, but right now I’m happy.

A fantastic saw just bought my second due my first getting damaged will cross cut 2″ section with ease and will rip same section with a good quality sharp blade in my opinion one of best 18 volt saws about and makita is good for their warranty. I have 36 v x2 brushless saw which is very good but my go to saw is the DHS 680

Makita 165 mm DHS6802 Brushless circular saw
I’ve only used the saw for several long days over the past month to rip 13 mm ply and some cross cutting. It’s an excellent product – multiple times better than my 10 year old Bosch saw. Its light, well built and so easy to follow cut lines with the built in led. After much research, I purchased a blade left model and it was the perfect choice for a right hander. To power the saw, I purchased two x 5 mah Makita batteries and got almost a full day from a single charge. I also purchased a Makita Mac box which will help to keep it looking perfect for years to come. I was so impressed with my 6802 that I’ve added an 18v impact driver to my kit.

    Makita... Never lets you down.
Simply a brilliant circular saw for the serious DIYer, or professional. Typical Makita quality, and I can’t find fault with it. Does what it’s supposed to do with no fuss.

Brilliant and so easy to use and handle. First portable saw I’ve bought and didn’t realise how convenient it makes working with it. Highly recommended
