Ive only so far used the saw for a few cuts but i must say im impressed with the build quality. Low noise weight isnt a issue ,the standard saw blade it comes with did nice smooth cuts and went through the 2×4 Iike cutting through butter. the test will be the ply wood that needd sizeing down , reason i bought it for long cuts

Brilliant tool. All DIY projects done without cables. Handy for outside jobs. Small but powerful. I have couple tools from MAKITA. Decent battery life.
Cuts through ply sheets with ease. Easy to handle everything I expected from it. It’s only limitation is the battery life, so be sure to have a spare charged up if you’re away from a mains supply.m with lots to do.

Bought for small domestic jobs and cutting up pallets for a garden project. It goes through pallets like a hot knife through butter. Not too heavy and battery life (bought separately) from a 5h was over two hours. Nifty.
Has a lot more power than you would think, and being left handed I don’t get dust all over me
absolutely fantastic, the time this saves me is unbelievable walking back and forth to my chop saw in the garage
You need this. nice weight good feel cuts great. been using circular saw for 20 years and this one is my favorite.
Really brilliant. You’ll never go back to a heavy pressed-plate wired cheapo again. So light, accurate and will last a tradesman a long time and a DIY’er for life if looked after.
This is an excellent circular saw, I much prefer it to my mains powered circular saw. The DSS610 has the electronic brake which is a great safety feature and stops the saw spinning almost instantly, unlike the cheaper DSS611, which despite being a later model number, is just a cut-down version of the DSS610. The DSS610 alo has the light and dust blower that the DSS611 lacks and these are very useful, especially in darker environments. As a right-handed person, having the blade to the left of the motor makes this so much easier to use as I can see exactly where the blade is cutting at all times. This saw is also pretty quiet for a circular saw, I’ve mainly used it for cutting sheet goods up to 18mm so far but it goes through like butter. It’s also great that it’s portable as I can cut wood down to fit in my car wherever I buy it from, It comes with a blade but no dust bag. Also remember the Z is the bare version with no battery which is great if you already own any Makita LXT tools.
The acid test is; would I buy this again – definitely.

super handy tool, just right to do those little jobs without getting a corded tool out. Needs a good battery mind.
Love this saw, cordless, very quiet to run, square out of the box, solid base plate. Would recommend this tool
Another brilliant Makita saw. Cordless so I can use away from power sources. NOTE not as gutsy as a mains saw. so cutting through a 3 inch thing is tricky, cutting thru a half inch sheet of something is simple. Makita just make the best stuff, I will not buy anything else.

Really really useful for getting floor boards up or cutting timber or unistru
This is a fantastic cordless circular saw. I’m delighted with my purchase.
Fantastic saw, makes life so much easier and love not having power cables getting in the way.
Love Makita. Love the 18v stuff. Looking for a saw? Get this one. Cuts effortlessly. I’ve only used it a few times – but it made mincemeat of the boards I was cutting. Lightweight, easy to use. Brilliant.
Its a Makita saw what else can I say it does what it is intended to do BUT the price was amazing !
Works like a treat. Very comfortable to use and also easy to use. Not too heavy and batteries are interchangeable with my drill so worthwile purchase.
Quality saw combined with 5ah Makita battery it does a whole load of work before needing to be charged, supplied blade is good quality for wood of all thickness within reason. Good adjustments on saw and dual action trigger switch is easy to operate.
Great tool, compliments the rest of my Makita 18v tools
Can’t fault it. Great price and does as it’s supposed to.
For and used by my hubby, he loves Makita stuff, something to do with having the same battery for all gizmos. Anyway, he’s happy so I am too. (and we now have loads of nicely cut wood for the fire!!)
Happy as a pig
Absolutely delighted with my new saw. Always been a makita man but always corded with the exception of drills. Upgraded my drills recently and have purchased this saw and a cordless vac to suit the battery’s .
I’m a DIYer. This is a real bit of kit, probably good enough for trade use. The blade is so sharp, pleasure to use. Uses quite a lot of battery but just get a spare 18v pack.
This saw works like a beauty, cuts wood beautifully and easy to maintain. Highly recommend this saw to any carpenter or household user to get through job done.
one of the best bits of kit i have ever purchased
Very easy to change cutting depths and nicely weighted. So much better than my old cable saw, which was always getting caught up with the cutting piece, restricting the length of cut before having to stop the saw to adjust the cable.
Saw it & purchased it a real deal. Its a spare for fine cutting instead of changing the blade. Well worth the cost.
Great saw at a great price! This one is the older one and the better one as it has a job light and a brake.
I have found this adequate to all my DIY needs. At under 100 it seems excellent value. Adjustments to angle and depth of blade easy to make and safety features seem sufficient. Have been using frequently for three months and have experienced no problems. I bought batteries and charger elsewhere (Toolden) as they were cheaper. I have two of the lowest capacity battery (2Ah) and have never run out of power.
great tool, versatile and as always the top notch Makita quality
I already own a decent, powerful mains-powered circular saw but, in truth, it’s heavy and a pain to use. Already being invested in the Makita LXT range, this smaller, lighter, handier saw was hard to resist. The quality and features are great and not having to fight a cord or worry about finding a free plug are a bonus. The supplied 24 tooth blade does a decent job of general ripping and cross cutting, but I’ll be picking up something finer for cutting ply. For this price I can find nothing to criticise, but I’ll keep my mains saw for very heavy work, just in case.
Good kit and very pleased. Smooth and sharp blade, small and ideal for one handed operation which is just what I was needing. Exellent Makita quality and so far I am pleased. I am using this with the 5amp battery too so that all works well.
Excellent saw should have bought one years ago.
It won’t replace a designated mains saw but will make it a part time tool.
Really nice saw. Base plate is good and solid and the adjustments work smoothly and lock firmly in place, with the default 90 and 45 not requiring any adjustment out of the box. I was expecting the have to upgrade the supplied blade, but it actually cuts really nicely and leaves a decent enough finish on crosscuts and rip cuts. It goes through 2x6s fine, though you can hear it start to bog down a little when it hits a knot so if you really push it you will be able to find its limits.
It may be that my batteries are a couple of years old now, but it goes through them pretty fast. If you were hoping to get away with one or two batteries to swap between your tools, you might want to buy an extra if you’re going to be using this a lot on a job. An 18V 3Ah battery has 54Wh, so at the full 360W it’ll go through that in 6 1/2 minutes of actual cutting (the same would be true of any similarly specified saw, of course). The 4 or 5Ah batteries would be a sensible choice.
I’m very pleased! It’s very light and comfortable to use!
I bought this as I needed to cut out large pieces of plywood and also some very hardwood timber, it works brilliantly on both, cutting like a knife through butter. This complements the other LXT Makita tools I have bought so batteries can be shared between them. Fantastic circular saw.
I love this saw. Light weight and powerful. No more snagging lead holding me back.
I can’t rate this circular saw highly enough. I actually chose this as I have a good few other Makita cordless tools and so obviously have several batteries that fit.
So far it has dealt with everything I have thrown at it, including cutting replacement planks to length for 3 hours of emergency fencing repairs in the pouring rain! Seems to cut through standard planks like a hot knife through butter, effortless – and that’s with the supplied blade too.
Very powerful saw, have used for many fencing and yard work, left on the ground in stables and yards with no problems. It’s very comfortable to use, well balanced and doesn’t seem to eat through the batteries too quickly either. Has a nice self-retracting blade guard and a (removable) guide to help with straight cutting.
Probably one of the best pieces of kit I have bought in ages, now a standard part of my tools.
Good for cutting thinner pieces, less than 2″ or so and it gets stuck on thicker or long cuts. It is good as an extra saw to supplement electric one.
Love this piece of kit, very nice weight , cuts well
First of all, i want to say that the delivery was very quick, it came the next day. I’ve been using it for the past few weeks and I have no problems. I love it, it cuts really well and the battery lasts for a long time. I don’t know how it will be in the future but so far it’s very good.
First class saw. Light and easy to handle, and the same quality that you get from all Makita power tools.
Love my new toy, batteries don’t last long in it though!!
as with all makita gear, this is a quality piece of kit. I fell in love with in straight away but unfortunately , it is not designed to balance on roofing laths and when id only had it a short while it fell from a 2 storey house roof onto a concrete path. unbelievably, it did not fly into a thousand pieces and still works even though it suffered damage to the casing and required a new blade.
highly recommend the saw but keep it on a leash up top!
gorgeous little saw with clean cutting and stamina – works so well for right handed cutting
Makita are following the trend of having ‘naked’ tools which use the same battery. I have a Makita 18v dril which is the best cordless drill I have ever owned and I use the battery for this saw. Cuts like a dream and is so convenient to use. Well worthy of 5 stars..
errific small machine. Wasn’t sure I really needed it but now its used regularly.
Excellent tool, very happy with my purchase. Makita tools are top quality and this tool supports that.
Good handy circular saw, nice and powerful and cuts wood very well.
Have not used it a lot yet, but I would recommend it so far.
Smooth to use and will cut through high density 38mm chipboard with ease
Excellent piece of kit. Struggles a little on fence panels but brilliant all the same. Customers are always impressed that we are self sufficient and don’t need to use their electric.
I have used this saw alot of times on mostly 18mm Plywood and it works amazing for the price. little lower powered for some of the cuts but for the portability worth every penny.
Not tested on wood yet but looks and works ok
fast delivery and one of the best tools i bought that yea
Lightweight and easy to use, does a good job for the price
Love it, great little saw. Only buy Makita tools now.
Positives – very good cut. Good weight and balance. Quality product. Good price.
Negatives – uses a 4.0ah battery from fully charged to flat in about 8-10 pieces of decking!
I thought there was something up with my batteries! But I looked on the forums and apparently this is standard.
More suitable for thin sheet material – ply and thin mdf – than wood.
I’m going back to 110/240v and a long extension lead!
Great saw all ready had lots of makita 18v tools so was not a difficult choice.
Usual Makita quality, purchased for a house renovation project so far been using it to cut kitchen work tops which it does with ease, built in work light a nice touch.
Pleased with saw; so far used to re-floor an entire attic with chipboard. Good straight cuts and such a time saver. Not too heavy to use. I added on a filter bag, as makes a bit of a mess otherwise! If working on your own, clamp boards to a work table for safety. 4 Ah batteries last longer than I expected but advisable to have a spare or two on hand, as much harder on power usage than a drill.
The saw is very portable and with a sharp blade feels just as powerful as my mains saw, just less restrictive.
Been looking to buy one of this to add to the rest of my 18v makita kit. Great addition . Would recommend this saw, Great price.
well designed able to cope with 50 mm. timber with no problems
Very good tool. Saves a lot of time. Should have got one along time ago. Good price and quick delivery.
I bought the Makita DSS610Z for use in some house refurbishment project. I’m lucky enough to have a Festool TS-55 circular saw and guide system but needed something for, dare I say, rougher work. Now I’ve used the Makita it’s already paid for itself in the quality and range of jobs I’ve been able to do. For cutting large sheets of ply or MDF nothing quite compares with the Festool, but this little Makita is finding more use in other jobs where being cordless is a huge advantage. The quality of cut is excellent, it’s lightweight and the built-in LED light is very useful. I have no hesitation giving this 5 stars and I’m very glad I bought it!
Well worth money for any joiner / carpenter on site work
Excellent value for the money and really good service from amazo
Was going to leave a bad review origonaly as the first saw delivered didn’t work at all! But hats off to Amazon really, reported the fault on the Saturday night, received a brand new one then next evening!
The saw itself is fantastic, smooth cutting saw. Highly recommend.
My old saw smoked its last and this is the super whizzy cutter as I had more work to do
brilliant!! I would recommend this particular model as it is built better than the one you get in the bag bundle. I had my one stolen and had to replace it immediately such a handy wee saw for ripping
Makita quality product, buy brushless if you cam afford it batteries last longe
it carries out the work required easily and does not drain batteries too quickly
auto stop is good, balance is great, light is good, struggling to find a bad poi
Great saw light weight and so much better with out Power lead.
Awesome in every way (well related to circular saws at least).
Really pleased with this item. Particularly glad I went for the cordless model and for someone who has never used a circular saw before it was amazingly easy to handle (so long as everything is set up well beforehand). Indeed I only needed one practice cut and then it was all systems go! Just wish I had acquired one years ago.
Lives up to the makita brand name. As good as it gets in a battery saw.
This is yet another Makita product that does a very good job. This is the second MAKITA saw I have bought so I have one in the work shop and one in the van when working out.
Makita is always expensive, but then it lasts so long and does such a good job. I buy little else now for my tool requirements. SHame batteries are so expensive, but then cheaper copies now seem reasonably reliable
This is one of the best pieces of kit I have ever purchased – light, stable and makes the job effortless.
Fantastic tool. Light, accurate, well made, and lets face it, amazing for the price.
Fantastic! Exactly as decsribed and fast delivery. Would definitely recommend
Great saw, fairly light. easy to use and powerful.
Quick standard delivery
Really good tool. Cuts nice and clean. And after I accidentaly cut a few nails, it’s still very sharp.
delivered on time and quality as expected from Makita although a bit surprised it was made in China and not japa
Bought this because I already owned a combo drill with 2 batteries . I had a mains powered saw , it cost around 50 , but it wasn’t very good. This little thing is really well made and thought out and performs well too.
I used it with a 40T Blade for cutting some polycarbonate sheets for a conservatory , perfect edges.
The service from UKToolMart was 1st class as well.
Highly recommended

A good quality easy to use machine. been cutting 18mm ply and sterling board. Nice and light to take up on to the roof.
his saw is very light and easy to use it makes my job better and easer thank you.
Perfect for the job compact robust and no annoying trailing electric leads.
very good saw and a great back up for a mains
Was impressed from the start early delivery plus what a saw….. its a beast….. amazing battery saw
I bought this to replace my Makita 240v circular saw which died recently. I am a big Makita fan anyway and as I already had a spare 18v battery, it was a natural choice to choose a cordless saw. The saw was a little heavier than I expected but that’s no bad thing in something so potentially lethal and the build quality is well up to the usual Makita standard, i.e. excellent. Every bit as good as a corded model. The handgrip is rubber backed as is the forward grip and they are very comfortable in the hand. The trigger is the usual two stage safety type, push down a spring loaded switch before the main trigger will engage. Interestingly, the LED will light as soon as you press the trigger. I thought the LED light would be a bit of a gimmick but this one is really very thoughtfully placed, it helps you see the cut line very easily indeed. I opted to buy this model over the DSS611z because it has the very handy dust blower and again like the LED, it really does work and very useful it is too. The other feature you get over the 611 is the little toggle which lets you tilt the saw beyond 45 degrees, not a lot of use to me but handy to have I suppose. Height adjustment and angle adjustment are easy with conveniently placed thumb screw in the case of the angle and a lever for height adjustment. Speaking of which, the blade guard is marked with various measurements for easy depth setting and that brings me to the only disappointment with this saw, the plastic blade guard. This is an industrial tool, it will get some abuse so why they decided that plastic was good enough, I cannot fathom.
The saw was delivered on time and was well packed and I have to say I am delighted with it in every way other than the blade guard. I should have gone cordless a lot sooner and if I’d known they were this good, I would have.
I wish i brought one of these years ago, it slices through wood with the greatest of ease, the blades are very thin, and this makes it easier to cut.
battery life is very impressive, the saw cuts through the thickest and knottiest timber with ease.
Would recommend you get one of these.
i needed to practice on scrap wood to get used to it, my mains saw has the motor mounted on the other side to this, and the thin blade means you have to be careful to keep the saw running straight.
Superb tool and very powerful
I had already been using this saw at work so knew it could do the job. As long as the thin saw blade is fitted and not a ‘non standard’ one then it can handle cutting worktops, fire doors etc.
