Very pleased nice sturdy key safe, easy to install and peace of mind that you won’t get lock out with that spare key to hand.
I bought this for a friend who has cancer and lives alone. She was leaving her door open for family to call by because she was sleeping a lot and felt a bit frightened in case she needed help. Her son has fitted and now all the family know the security number and she locks her door. She is safe now.
Despite much resistance from my very independent elderly mum (“won’t ever be needed as I have never lost a key and you already have a spare set”) we installed one in her porch so we (or someone we gave the code to) could get in if needed in an emergency. Easy to install and last week during lockdown when my mum went to get some shopping she lost her key. This could have been a nightmare as I live 200 miles away but instead, despite not having her glasses with her, she managed to line up the numbers and open the keysafe and get back inside. Crisis averted and she has since found her keys and returned the spare set to the keysafe. Worth every penny
Great needed so carers could access my mums house it’s good quality for the price. Delivery was next day which was grea
Was so easy to set up for the nurses that see to my mum every morning its very strong & robust & easy to use which ever nurse comes they’ve had no problem putting in the 4 digit code & get the key out for mums back door perfect & a brilliant price
I bough this for my rental property to allow trades and agents to enter without having to swap keys about. Workds fine, very robust and simple to use. If you are not very dextrous it might be a problem lining up the code and it could do with having a key hook inside the unit rather than the key just resting in it.
I’ve been using one of these for many years. I’d say it’s one of the best of the cheaper key safes. More expensive one often aren’t as good. My dad had one that got used 8 times a day for 3 years by his carers. It never failed to work. Good product.
Bought for Mums house when carers needed access and it was perfect, easy to install and change codes – great price and highly recommend
Sturdy and simple to install. Easy lock code changes and discreet enough not to stand out from the footpath I’f placed sensibly. Lock flap slightly sticky to open and so could be smoother to operate but otherwise good value and does what is required.
I installed this on my shed so I have a spare house key as well and find it works very well except the shed key was too big to fit inside so had to change the lock system on the shed. Apart from that I an m very happy with the product.
Bought this so I could safely store a spare key outside after having the nightmare of being locked out due to forgetting my keys. Fortunately I have not been locked out since, but now have the peace of mind that I can safely access my key. This was very easy to install and is simple to use. I do feel that it could be a little more sturdy, as with a continued effort I feel it could be opened by an unauthorised person. However, I have fixed it in a location out of sight to try and mitigate the risk of others finding it.
Well made, using to keep beach hut key safe (fitted around railings) whilst going swimming. I would not recommend leaving it out over winter in seaside weather though. very pleased overall
Used to access an elderly persons home, ideal for emergency services and family. I think the numbers on the dials could be more visible ie white instead of black.
Excuse the fact that I rung the screw at the bottom, this was my own user error as I am very new to using a drill for drilling holes in walls and left it in the wrong mode!
This is a great wee product and you can reset the code easily by opening and moving the lever on the reset part on the inside (you can’t if you forget the code!)
Which is handy and will help keep your keys secure.
Enough space for your key and even a small keyring.
Great if you want a more secure way to leave a key out for someone rather than under something!
Great for rental properties too. Mine was bought so my son wouldn’t need to risk carrying a key and losing it!
This is the second one of these as my mum lives in flats so had to put one outside her front door and the other outside the entrance door to the block for the Carers to gain access.
Very pleased with both easy to fit and secure can’t comment on weather proof as not had bad enough weather to see what happens, would definitely recommend this
Seems very sturdy and is easy to use.
Only downside is the lack of space inside. Inside dimensions are provided (and sounds spacious) but it isn’t clear that half of this space is actually taken up by the locking mechanism when closed so can only fit one electronic car key and maybe another small metal key inside. Does the trick but if you have lots of things on your keyring they likely won’t fit!
I bought this product to secure a spare key in so that friends/relatives can check the place in case of emergencies. It’s a nice strong design, looks secure, and was easy to install. I did use my own wall plugs and screws for a slightly more secure installation, but this wasn’t really necessary. It performs exactly as I’d expect, and is not at all intrusive. Good quality product at a very reasonable price.
Good product. I have been using it for a long time already. It does the job very well.
Some points of attention:
– It is NOT waterproof (any rain will get the load wet – Fine for me as my keys can get wet).
– Some guests had troubles to open it, as the small trigger sometimes get tricky (a bit hard to press). But tbh – I think this is not problematic (To put in a scale, from 10 guests, 1 had a problem).
I liked it, and I will probably buy a second one soon. Therefore, I do recommend it.
We are a development company and use these on every site. It enables us to allow visitors/ contractors access without having to send an employee at a cost.
They are easy to install on a wall of any kind or fence etc. However depending on the surface you will need an SDS drill or screwdriver. The code can be easily changed for security.
We are really happy with this product. However to our knowledge it hasn’t has to stand up to someone trying to break in to one. We do however hide the location on site, not easily visible without instruction, rather than fixing them next to the doors.
We will continue to purchase and use more.
Negatives: based on Medium size
Can only fit 3-4 keys on a ring in the box without it being difficult to close.
Summary:
This lock is an essential for all occasions. From surfing to walking/cycling and running you can secure your car keys or house keys anywhere.
Pros:
– Very sturdy build
– Secure
– Easy for anyone to use
– Exactly as described
– Large locking loop which will go around car doors/roof bars
Cons:
– Slightly too small for larger car keys both in width and depth
– Not completely weatherproof but I expected that
Delivery/Order:
Rapidly delivered and packaged well. Really happy with the service
his lock is useful because of its portability. Loses marks for the small compartment size as other reviewers have mentioned, i can just about fit a car key inside it. I’ve never had cause to use it in my day to day life but I grabbed it for the potential flexibility it offers. I’ve used the wall mounted boxes and they’ve been satisfactory. As with all things like this it seems you can trust them as far as you can throw them, so bear that in mind when weighing up buying one for security. Still beats putting keys into a fake rock of sorts though for me.
This has a nice weight to it, and feels very secure. The only downside is there are 4 screws required to wall mount it, which can make alignment (level) tricky.
Good quality key store. Would recommend paying for one of these and not getting a cheap version.
The item arrived very quickly and was as described in the ad. It was very simple to securely fix onto an outside wall using the screws provided. Changing the combination to one of my choice was well explained in the instructions very simple to achieve. It’s water resistance was well tested in some recent heavy showers and came through dry. If you want to keep a spare key outdoors then this is a good way to store it.
This was well packaged. Instructions are clear enough to understand what you need to do. My only disappointment was that it was missing the wall plugs/ Rawl plugs for the screws. 4 pieces of plastic which Complete the job. These are supplied with most products that fit to walls. Other than that it was easy to install and I am happy with it. Hopefully it will withstand the elements and any attempts at theft.
No longer have to wait in for the Garage to pick the car up for servicing. Just leave the car keys in here, give them the code and you’re sorted. Electronic fob is a close fit but it fits!
We use a chain round a stanchion to secure it.
Got the MEDIUM one. Cheap as chips. My builder set one up and I got another after he left. Trying to change the combination was simple once I found out I had it upside down. See “RESET” wording inside product to determine which way is up it is after you open the door. NOTE: Caught my builder, or his employees, leaving the combination unscrambled, leaving me to know his code and anybody else who opened it, and to burgle my house. Never got burgled and he’s not my builder anymore. Sure they can smash it off the wall easily enough and break it open with a 4lb hammer but they’s be better off breaking through a door or window too, unless they want to live there.
This purchase was to replace a previous one that was between 5 and 10 years old – after this time the peg needed to update your code to maintain security decided to seize and I broke it.
Three long shaft screws, hidden inside the casing so not visible when closed, secure the safe to the wall. Where possible, prudent siting of the box will definitely enhance security i.e. install it so it is not in full view. The four 0-9 code tumblers give enough scope to keep updating the code periodically.
Simple key safe, nothing fancy but does the job. Since buying this one I have noticed on TV footage and while travelling the UK just how many of this model are in use!!
This is a great product. Four screws are used to securely fit the box to a wall and anyone with a good DIY skills (find a suitable location, use a drill and know how to select the right size bits and plugs) can do it. The box itself is strong thus even if the box is forced off the wall the contents cannot be accessed.
Bought this a few months ago. The key safe looks great after a hard winter and has withstood a lot of rain, so very impressed. Easy to install and very robust. The only point of caution is to make sure that you consider carefully the key or keys that you want to go in the safe. There is not much room and there is nowhere to hang a key or keys.
Great little key box. I loved the fact that, even if you can get it off the wall, you still can’t get into it .super easy to change the code. Weather proof and sturdy. Only negative is the numbers on the barrels are a little difficult to see at night.
I recently installed one of these for my daughter, why she purchased one I had no idea till
it was in situ.
Then I thought, what if I loose or misplace “my” keys, which to be honest I constantly do, but
always lucky enough to find them again.
The question I asked myself…what if I cannot find them…yep…locked out.
So I purchased one for myself.
This is a very substantial key safe, and looks very sturdy.
Installing it is a piece of cake and takes about 10 mins…mostly drilling into the wall.
I strongly suggest you only drill into the house bricks and NOT the mortar/cement between the bricks, as this
is far from a secure method.
There are no wall plugs supplied, which is just as well because companies who do supply them only
supply the cheapest they can get. Screws are however supplied, they are good quality and very
suitable for the job.
Setting up your own code takes seconds…then it’s job done.
So far very pleased
We have had this lock box since October 2015 and it is a lovely, useful product. Very safe and secure and surprisingly cheap for a quality item.
Very easy to fit, in fact our handyman did not charge us anything for putting it up as it was a 5 minute job. It has worked smoothly for the last 5 years, the dials do not stick or jam or anything. None of the family bother to carry house keys around any more, they can be lost, stolen etc. and weigh down your pocket.
We are now upgrading to another lock box with light up number dials, the instructions are to fit the box in a discrete location and this meant in a shaded area away from the front door a bit so the light up dials will be useful.
I have no reservations recommending this product.
Very simple to use, I set a new code in two mins and currently keeping my office keys secure behind a robust casing. Screws are a good length, maybe raw plugs would be. A nice addition “Master Lock” as I’m sure it won’t always be attached to timber.
All in all a good product.
Fabulous for securely storing a spare key safely! We already use one of these at work for a secure key cabinet so I knew the quality was good. There was no question about buying anything else and I’m so glad I did.
The unit comes with 4 decent securing screws, but no rawl plugs, which isn’t a massive issue just marginally inconvenient if you don’t have any brown ones.
Time will tell how well it weather’s but hopes are high as the finish is good.
Even if thieves lever this from the wall, they still can’t gain access to it. The code is very simple to change too but you need to be able access the inside to do this, for obvious reasons.
This is top quality and I feel fine leaving my keys in it. Nice simple way to change the code.
Only possible improvement would be to have a small hook inside to hang the keys on. As when they’re sat at the bottom of the box sometimes they get in the way of closing i
When you call for an ambulance and cannot get to the front door to open it – tell the Emergency Dispatcher where your key safe is and the code. Less than ten minutes later your front door opens and a very welcome voice calls out “Ambulance, paramedics, where are you?” If you think someone may have discovered your four number code, it’s very easy to change it. High security at all time.
We needed a place to securely have a key to the house for emergencies. We have been using this keysafe for over 2 years now and it has been perfect for the job and gets frequent use when you have older children like us who are out and about after you are in bed and need to get back in the house after hours, I also use it when I go for a run or walk and don’t want to carry keys. It was simple to fit and a great price. The only thing to note is it is only suitable for small items such as a bunch of keys.
Bought this after we got locked out of our new house on a rainy Sunday night. The 800 bill for a locksmith and a new lock did sting a bit. So we now have this for a spare key. Not had to use it in anger yet, but there was one like this at my elderly father’s house for a key his carers – seemed to work just fine with no problems. I’ve been warned that they are not very secure, but not sure I believe this.
I should have got a larger one as this fits one or two keys easily and that’s about it. I’m not sure I like the whole concept of this. I think it’s a recipe for disaster where people will rip it off the wall. I would t put the keys to your house in this in an exposed location on your front drive personally. Not exposed anyway – but that is all my personal opinion. I haven’t put this outside yet to test it’s weatherability….
Fitted this in seconds using the screws etc provided. Easy to set up memorable number and works a treat. Don’t tell anybody but the authorities what the number is ( i.e Nurses, Ambulance or local council services) otherwise your house will be emptied.
This is exactly what I needed. Any time we go on holidays we are always giving keys out and of course they get lost/mislaid. Just the one key does now and the select few have the code. Very easy to install, very durable and strong, and it’s actually very easy on the eye, definitely recommend this item.
I don’t keep all of my keys in there: just the one that I need for when the door closes behind me by accident! The keysafe seems robust and is quite easy to set up. I haven’t had it for very long so I cannot comment on how durable it is. But the packaging claims to have a lifetime guarantee. The shackle allows for the keysafe to be padlocked discretely to some railings.
Very simple to use and with only a couple minor flaws.
-A hook of some description inside would improve the design as the keys can often fall over and prevent the door from closing.
-The combination lock can become stiff over time and occasionally seizes.
Overall a good product with fulfils the required function.
Have been using it for a number of years and can’t fault it. It was easy to mount and set up the code combination. Depending on the size of the keys, might be difficult to place more than 2 keys at a time. Provides safe and robust storage for the house keys, definitely recommend it.
Box locked on us before we could use, was changing code when pin inside locked/stopped moving and would not move either way, when shut pin would not work. Tried default pin still locked!
Up-date
Have since heard from company and fully satisfied with outcome.
Got this for my mum’s flat which is inside a secure complex to allow carers to access. Easy to fit, easy to change the access number, just got to remember to scramble the number wheels after putting the key back in the key safe. Does the job!
Excellent well priced keylock box which we use in our holiday apartments. We have all the lockboxes which involve combinations of clicking et cetera. This one appears to be much easier for people to use with a very simple call dial and open release latch.
Needed to install a keysafe box for a relative, and this one does the job perfectly. Easy to install – has 4 holes in back of box to secure to a wall with screws and rawlplugs (provided). I only used 2, as this gave enough solidity. Easy to set/change the 4 digit access code, and space for a couple of keys inside the box.
My nephew installed this for me. All you need is are the screw inserts, a drill and a screwdriver. Took about 10 minutes to fix but the beauty of this is the fact that it is so easy to use. My memory isn’t that great nowadays but this is so easy to use because of the design basically tells you what to do!
Solid, all metal enclosure. Although it hasn’t been tampered with, and I hope it never is, it seems almost impenitrable as even the seal/gap where the door meets the body of the unit is minimal. Room to fit 3/4 keys comfortably. Just got to get the ‘knack’ of closing as keys sometimes fall in the way of door. The four screw fixings make it really secure when fit to a wall. I’d recommend using longer screws into a wall as this will make it harder to jimmy off.
Alas, in my haste to leave my house, I am often forgetting my keys, and wallet. They are normally in a different coat. I have to wait for a family member to come round and let me back in the house. A real pain. This device saves me now. Its hidden at the back of the house. Super easy to fit and configure. My next door neighbour was so impressed they have got one too and now don’t leave their spare key under the front door mat !
No longer is it such a problem if we get locked out of the house without keys. I bought this when it was going to be only my wide at home for several weeks. It gave her peace of mind and has later been very useful indeed.
I wish the design held the keys away from the door. Just a lip to hold the keys back would help. The keys slip forward into the way of the door when closing it. That is just a minor quibble.
Great value and easy to use, the drawback is I found the print on the instructions rather on the so small and hard to read, which led to some difficulty in finding the reset button it would help if the print was slightly larger. I overcame this by taking a photo on my phone and enlarging it that way
Easy to install, secure and robust, this key lock box is ideal for older children coming home from school – no lost keys – and for seniors who might need someone to be able to get into their home in an emergency. Protected against water ingress and with space for a more than one door key we bought two for the purposes above. A good buy.
After our daughter forget her keys we decided that we needed to leave a spare key at home. Hiding under a plant pot or elsewhere is a terrible idea so we bought a key lock box. Ordered on Saturday evening at about 8pm and delivered on Sunday morning. Great job Amazon logistics. The box itself was easy to fit and feels very robust. It was easy to change the default code. Highly recommended.
Key-Safe arrived promptly and is ideal for storing house keys for the kids coming home from school or for friends looking after the cat. I’ve only had it for a couple of weeks so not able to fully comment on durability, but looking good so far.
Installation is relatively easy, although the bottom screw can be a bit awkward to access when using an electric/impact driver.
Combination is easy to set up and easy to use.
The only downside is you need to use Blue-tac to stick the key(s) inside as there isn’t an internal hook to use unless you leave one of the fixing screws not fully tightened.
Bought this for surfing as didn’t want to risk hiding my key in the sand/under a rock etc.
Locks around my tow hook/under the chassis fine & is hidden and secure.
Can also see it being very useful for when I need to leave a key for someone securely – lock a house key for a tradesman etc. and text them the code or something.
We had one in our previous house which we had to leave behind (rented). Now we have moved, I really needed a new one! It’s VERY sturdy and heavy. Four big screws into the wall – it’s not coming off unless by some heavy duty tools. It’s virtually impregnable. The little snib on the combination side – to release the door IS small and difficult to push down at times – this may not be ideal for people with joint problems or short/cut nails! Otherwise top product.
These lock boxes are great. I now have two, one by the front door and one by the back door. At first I bought one because my 16 year old son was always forgetting his house key and I was worried he would lose it. Once fitted all he had to do was put in the number and get the key out. Now my son has his house key on his car keys so it is not a problem but we keep the key in the lock box so that any of the family can get in while we are out if they need to.
A negative – my husband and I went out of the front door to walk the dogs and realised we had not picked up a key. The problem was that between us without our reading glasses, we could not see the numbers to open the lock, we spent ages sort of guessing but failing until somebody came along with a decent pair of eyes. Now we keep an old pair of reading glasses and a torch in the porch so that we can use the lock box if we need to.
I would definitely recommend these boxes, it has been so useful on lots of occasions, my daughter uses hers to put her key in when she goes for a run.
I wanted something small but solid so this seemed ideal. I was in slight trepidation that the storage area would be too small as one review seemed to suggest the locking mechanism took up all the room but trusted the general thrust of positive comment. Good call as I hope the photo demonstrates.
Works perfectly and just as expected, one thing maybe worth mentioning is that it can be quite difficult to close it if you have more than one key in it or a keyring attached as we do with ours as it’s used for our holiday home when it’s being let out during the summer, because the key has to be sitting flat to the back of the box for it to close, to overcome this we just use a piece of Bluetack and stick the key to it which prevents it’s falling down.
POSITIVE – Master make high quality locks. I have a number of their normal 4 digit rotating padlocks and was reassured when I received this product. It feels incredibly robust and has simple and satisfying working parts.
I bought this for surfing trips and so far so good. The shackle has a rubber sheath and the main body has a rubber coating to prevent damaging whatever it is locked onto (i.e. your door handle).
NEGATIVE – My only issue with this lock is the size of the internal compartment, it works for me…just. The inner chamber is smaller than expected due to a few extrusions. However it fits my folding key fob (VW Golf type) without any other keys/ fobs/ attachments on the key ring, which suffices.
Quick and easy to install. We have a pebble-dashed house and it still looks flush to the wall. Keeps keys dry and safe (just don’t tell everyone your number) with a four digit combination. Numbers are a little hard to see and I’d suggest keeping a light handy but phone light will do
Easy to install and use – the only problem was this was delayed a few times from the original delivery date and as I needed it for a relative coming out of hospital I had to go and purchase this elsewhere which cost me a lot more money. However the product itself is very good.
This key lock is really well designed and constructed. It is solid quality and appears to be extremely strong, which is just what you need if you are leaving your house keys in it.
The supplied screws didn’t really seem up to the same standard as the box itself which is why I knocked it down a star. They are only about 2 inches long which, if you account for the render, would have meant about 1 inch of screw in the brickwork. In addition there were no raw-plugs which seemed a bit strange. I admit someone might be screwing into wood but the fact is with a crowbar behind this you could lever it off the wall, once off the wall you will be free to set about cracking it open.
I personally installed it with 4 inch 10s with big plugs, you could strap a car to this puppy and half the house will come down with it. lol I now feel more than comfortable leaving my keys in it permanently.
As for the price for just over 15 you can’t really go wrong just remember to buy some decent long strong screws.
This keysafe is well constructed and easy to use. It is made from die cast alloy and sheet metal except the weather proof key cover, which is constructed from tough plastic. With four fixing points it should prove extremely difficult to wrench from the wall. Setting the or changing the code is simple but impossible to do accidentally. It has a double pronged locking mechanism for strength and a sprung lid for ease of opening.
I used these safes at work before and know that they are strong and robust. It arrived very quickly following purchase with no issues. It was easy to mount to the wall and even came with screws to use, no wall plugs though. Once fitted it is easy to change the code and use.
My only criticism is that there is very little room for keys inside. We have quite a large door key and you almost have to slam the door quickly before it falls out as it doesn’t sit very well in there. If you have yale style keys I reckon you could fit 2 or 3 in but no more.
Great idea & product for those who require a spare key to be left at homer or at a holiday home or rented property.Easy to fit,it’s just up tyo the individual where you want it placed. It beats hiding a key under a stone or in a hide away place in the garden.Only reason why I gave it 4stars rather than five is because there are no hooks to hang your key(s) on inside, though I guess you could(like I have done)is use one of the holes intended for fixing & use a small screw-in hook instead.
Fast delivery. Instructions easy to follow and was mounted and working within minutes. Is still securely attached to the wall after a few months. It is easy to set up and easy to change the code. The dials are easy to move and the mechanism feels solid. There is a little flap to cover the dials and if you have this out facing the elements I guess it would keep it waterproof to a certain extent. An absolute must purchase if, like us, you have a door that locks itself without human intervention or a key! It has made life much easier and it has removed the worry of the door slamming shut in the wind while I am out at the bins. Means I no longer have to carry the keys about with me when pottering in the garden.
Needed one because of annoying teenagers coming in late, forgetting keys etc doing all the stupid stuff teenagers do. Easy to reset the combination, easy to fit (I did it myself as I find myself without a man-slave to do the menial tasks at the moment, if I can do it anyone can) all you need is a drill, line it up somewhere next to the door I put mine on a wooden planky bit- it took about 5 minutes. I’m going to tie the key to some string so they remember to put it back in …urgh…this house! Anyway the keysafe is perfect now I just have to condition them to remember the combination.
This is the second keysafe that I’ve purchased on behalf of my elderly mother who now needs carers & medical staff to call on her at home, & she has mobility problems, so a keysafe was essential. The first style we tried, although strongly made, was with buttons rather than the combination style numbers as on this particular model. We thought that buttons would be less fiddly, but that wasn’t the case, as the whole panel had to be removed to get at the key, & several times, the key fell out, losing itself in the shrubbery below! This Masterlock model, though, has a front panel on a drop-down hinge, so the key/s are quite safe inside the cavity. The only problem we’ve encountered is that it can be a bit awkward to actually drop the flap down, & 2 hands are definitely needed, which could be tricky if one hand is needed to hold a torch or umbrella, for example ….. something to consider with winter coming!
Key storage ‘safe’ with 4-digit combination for opening that can be changed by users. We bought this to store keys for our holiday flat so guests can access them at the property. – we only have a ‘yale’ style key to store in the safe for which there is plenty of room. Large keys (mortice locks or car keys) may struggle to fit dependent on size. There is a plastic window that slides up to cover the code wheels when not in use.
Good: feels secure and well made. More room for keys than similar devices (we have a competing product too and this has less room inside the safe). Easy to fix – 4 screw holes at the rear of the safe and screws provided. Code can be changed, easy to turn numbers.
Bad: On our particular item the bar that you need to move in order to change the code got stuck… easily fixed with a bit of brute force (not a major issue unless you change code frequently). The numbering on the codes is not as clear as some other safes / can be unclear in poorer light (may be a consideration dependent on where you plan to use it.
Helpful hints… it is much easier to change the code before you secure it in position (as this is the second safe fitted I’d learnt my lesson!)
Much better than the push button options (which allow you to put your code in, in any order so 1234 can be put in 2341, 4213 etc and all will open the push button lock).
It was easy to put up and has a little cover which slips over the dial so disguise them and keep it weather proof.
Only grip is if you use it on a regular basis putting the keys into it, so that it shuts is tricky as there is no hook inside to hold them in place. Other than that – a good buy and very happy.
We bought this to have a spare set of house keys available especially if family of friends arrived before we got home.
Very easy to fit. It comes with 4 screws, but no wall plugs. An 8mm drill was a perfect fit with suitable wall plugs of about 40mm in length. We have located it out of sight for extra security.
Very easy to change the code from the factory set code. The combination numbers moved very easily and had a quality feel.
As to storage of keys I would agree with some of the comments. Keys for cylinder locks fit no problems, but its not so easy to fit mortice locks as it takes a bit of moving around to get them to fit. The problem is that the top half of the inside of the case is taken up by the locking mechanism. We have one cylinder key and two mortice lock keys inside. There is room for a couple of additional cylinder keys. We have tried to fit inside a small garage door remote control but there is not enough space.
Overall very impressed but I would recommend going for the larger key safe the Masterlock 5403EURD Large Key Safe.
I am very pleased with the key safe and it is now fastened to the wall by my front door. It is within the porch area and is not subject to weathering so I don’t know how they are affected by rain etc. It is a good sound construction and securely fastened to the wall using my own screws and rawl plugs as I did not think that the ones supplied were strong enough.
It is big enough to hold one or two keys but that is all I require anyway. It has been useful when my wife went out and forgot to take her keys, so she got back into the house with a minimum of fuss. Before we got the key safe, we used to hide the spare key within the porch which wasn’t very secure but we now feel happier to have the key in a proper locking box.
The only thing I don’t like about the box is that you cannot hang the key inside as there is just enough room for a couple of keys and no room for a hanging hook of any kind so the key has to lie down flat.
It was easy to fix to the wall and set the combination. It seems secure.
I’ve put a spare key in it, but because it’s only for emergencies, it’s not been used, I’m happy to say.
My only little gripe is there’s not a lot of space in it. I bought a fob to write the medical details about myself on, but it wouldn’t fit in it. Not really a problem, I’ll simply write the details on a piece of paper and fold it up.
It’s fine for normal cylinder lock keys with nothing too big attached to them, but I’m not sure about larger keys like those for mortice locks etc. Be wary.
We’ve tried all sorts of things, from Key Stones to hiding keys, to leaving them with neighbours. This gets around all of the issues, we don’t have to worry if the neighbours are out, or someone finds the key stone, this little box is now securely bolted to the wall, and just blends in with all of the pipework that surrounds it. When carefully placed – it is very discreet, and inconspicuous. A really good product, well built.
What it wont do – is dter the burglar that really wants to get in to the house – but it will cause them to have to either break the window, or break down the door – so all in – its as good as it will get. Peace of mind and a quality product.
This product is very good value for money and was speedily dispatched. It was easy to fit and the right size to be fairly discreet, but having said that, it is easy to operate. There is sufficient space inside for a few keys and the keypad easy to use and the instructions are good. The numbers are a reasonable size, not too small to see if there is light around after dark and even someone with larger fingers would have no difficulty operating them. Certainly would recommend for all these reasons.
If you need an external secure storage place for a spare key, then this will do the job.Feels robust and has four “tumbler” wheels to set the opening code. Robust feel to it and a sliding cover over the “tumblers”.Easy to set or change the entry code, as required. Will fit a standard 5-lever door key or two-but no internal hooks for the keys. The unit is small enough to be inobtrusive and therefore not obvious to strangers.Highly recommended.
The idea of a secure place to leave a key outside my property is very comforting………. just in case! I fitted a unit adjacent my front door after an incident when I almost choked to death when alone in the house. If my door had been locked a neighbour would not have been able to get to me in time to save me. So now the house is secure and I know others with the pass code can reach me anytime. The product is very robust, made of a heavy duty casting with a strong hinged cover and a numerical combination lock with a very easy to rotate set of numbered wheels.
The problem I had was that two of the screw heads simply twisted off whilst screwing them in. Fortunately the other two were at opposite corners of the square so the lock is very firmly fixed. Being a security device the screws should be stainless steel; a small additional price to pay for fixing peace of mind.
Good price for an all weather outside key storage. Very easy to fit and to use. It really does require a hook for keys inside, but buying a cheap hook on a sticky pad works well enough.
The actual unit remains intact even if it is physically removed from the wall, so would need a lot of force (and noise) to get inside it.
I’m very happy with this and it was ideal for my needs (occasionally forgetting keys and being locked out!) and recommended.
It works. The unit is well built and strong. It would be difficult to break into and even if you could prize it off the wall or somewhere strong that it is fixed, the back is part of the unit and therefore just as difficult to break open. I found the combination lock easy to use and change the number anytime. The space inside is only big enough for maybe 3 or 4 keys, but hey, what do you want it for? I have two keys for the front door and 2 for different doors to enter at the rear. Without key fob etc they fit inside ok but I worry a little about snagging with the combination changing part when I close the door and sometimes it is a little difficult to close the door with the keys in. However, these are minor gripes in my opinion and I would buy again.
I must remember to take the keys out from the lock on the inside of the doors because that stops me putting the key in the lock from outside and all of this plan is academic!! Overall recommended at between 4 & 5 stars.
I came across this product while on Holiday and was so impressed I bough tone for my own use. Construction is solid and would pose quite a challenge to drill open if not fitted to a wall. Fitting is easy although it does not come with rawl plugs. I used 6mm plugs with screws supplied which are quite sufficient. Setting your choice of numbers is quick and simple. There is space for 3 or 4 keys. Would recommend this over the alternatives available such as fake stones etc.
I needed a key safe in case anyone lost their keys (again!) but the locksmith was going to charge 65 for supplying and fitting one. This is a good, affordable alternative by a well-known make. What the photo doesn’t show is that there’s a cover which lifts up over the numbers to protect them from the weather and curious eyes. It’s a bit stiff and the numbers don’t turn that quickly but it’s good for what it is, especially in that price bracket. With the cover in place, it doesn’t shriek ‘key safe’ so won’t attract attention to itself.
A minor annoyance is that the safe had to be opened to find the screws. The original, factory set numbers had moved during packaging and we had to read the instructions to find out what they were so we could open them. Surprisingly, the numbers were all the same – not all key safes allow the same number to be used more than once. It was a little fiddly to reset the number to something different (tip – you might need glasses to find the little latch) but we got there in the end!
This is a good sturdy key storage box I purchased it because my elderly mother had a fall in her home and could not get up off the floor. I live 10 miles away and the paramedics had to wait until I arrived with a key. This storage box is secured to a wall at her front door and I set a code that my Mum can remember easily. It is there for emergencies but it came in handy when I visited her and forgot my front door key I was able to use the emergency key and open the door without my Mum having to struggle out of chair to open the door. I am thinking of buying one for myself as I have 2 sons who go out clubbing and wake me up in the early hours because they did not take a door key with them. This purchase was well worth the money and I would recommend it for anyone with elderly relatives.
The lock appears well made and is simple to use, so is certainly good value. The design of the combination lock mechanism however uses up space inside the device, so larger keys will not necessarily fit inside. Yale and cylinder-type keys will be fine, however longer and thicker keys such as those used in mortice deadlocks may be too long and / or thick to fit in the limited space behind the combination lock of the hinged door. I only just managed it with mine (after a frustrating 5 minutes trying different ways), but had to take them off the split ring holding them together and line them up along the outer edges of the interior compartment, holding them in place while I closed the door. Just making the recess inside the device slightly deeper would solve the issue and instantly earn a fifth star because the device is otherwise excellent.
Bought this because despite spare keys being issued to family, I felt like I was always getting replacements for lost ones! It was getting expensive and I couldn’t help but wonder where all these keys were going and if my home was safe.
The combination can be easily changed so when I went on holiday recently, I was able to set the code to my friends chosen sequence so that she could pop in and keep an eye on things. When I came back, I just changed the code again! Small, stury little box that fixes to the wall on four screws and there’s a sliding cover over the numbers which I hope will keep them moving well over time.
I can see that when I go out for a night, or a bike ride, I don’t need to be weighed down with keys if I have one in this box at home.
I purchased this after ending up locking myself out 3 times (YES I KNOW 3 TIMES) & at a cost of 40.00 to get my council out to drill the locks out & replace them i decided to purchase 2 of these one for outside my property & one in the hallway of my block, it was easily drilled, rawplugged & screwed to the wall, the operation instruction is simple to understand & put whatever combination of 4 numbers in you so wish. Get one ASAP dont leave it once you got one you will never have to worry about pulling the door over/or the wind slamming your door shut then having that sinking feeling of OH NO NOT AGAIN. I’ve also made my mom n dad get one for their property just in case!!
Great Price as well they’re the cheapest i’ve found.
I purchased one of these items some years ago for our business and over the years we have increased these to 5. They really are ideal for relatively low security use within a controlled environment e.g. we use two of them to store the keys to our controlled drugs cabinet. one safe for the outer and the other for the inner cabinet. In a nutshell it works.
Subsequent to my purchases for work, I have recently purchased one for our home, so that my son can have access to the home without giving him the responsibility of carrying a key; believe me he does lose things at an alarming fate. He finds it very useful and it also ensures that he always has access when on the odd occasion he returns home from school and we are not in.
I bought this to mount on the wall just outside my front door. It was quickly and easily fixed. It looks to me as though it would be difficult to even hammer off the wall so it’s really secure. The instructions were quite clear. I set the combination lock and deposited my one door key inside. It has been really useful several times, when I’ve needed a neighbour to access my home whilst away, and there’s been absolutely no problem accessing the key. The price was amazing too. 11.99 with free delivery is a bargain!
I needed a lock box to enable support staff access to the house to attend my invalid wife.
I chose this model on the basis of price and positive feedback..
The item was delivered promptly, it is well made and robust, also simple to instal. The only downside for me is the lack of space to put a hook in to hang the key on ( I solved this by backing off the top securing screw and hung the key there). Also, the combination lock numbers are rather hard to see, especially in the dark – they could be made larger and more visible in future models. Otherwise, I recommend this product.
A few nights ago I collapsed in my bedroom. I live alone, was too shaken to go downstairs and didn’t fancy ambulance men breaking down my new and expensive front door. Rather stupidly I waited until a more reasonable hour before calling for help and going into A&E.
This key safe offers the opportunity to give access by telling the service my access code. I feel more secure now and the safe seems sturdy enough to my eyes. It was fitted by my son-in-law who also set a new code in less than a quarter of an hour. It might have been qucker had he read the instuctions, but what man ever does that!
Thoroughly recommended.

Don’t know why I haven’t bought one before. Discovered the product when I went on holiday. The villa owner used one to make the key available, and it worked perfectly – we could leave a key in the key safe, and never worry about losing it, and we could gain entrance any time, even if we went back separately. So I bought one for our own house, and it solves the problem of my son arriving home, having forgotten to take the house key with him. Now I don’t have to hide a spare in the pot outside. Couldn’t be more pleased.
Having run out of ways to break into my own house as I’ve improved security each time I’ve locked myself out and broken in through another window/door I finally admitted that I’m useless at remembering my keys and opted for buying a key safe. I decided to buy the larger product as I’ve read a lot of reviews about problems with the smaller versions and am very happy with my decision. The Masterlock key safe was easy to fit, easy to set and change the combination and can hold both my front door keys with ease. Amazingly I’ve not forgotten my keys since I’ve fitted it but I have left keys for builders, pet sitters etc and it’s always worked well. Now all I have to remember is the combination which changes each time after it’s been used by a non family member.
Amazon sent me a link to this device via their offers e-mail which normally ends up being deleted quite quickly! However on this occaision I checked out this key safe and decided that It would be a very useful device. We have recently employed a cleaning lady and the other week we forgot to leave the key out under the plant pot as we usually do and so she could not get in! Having bought and installed the key safe the same problem will not occur again. The device seems very well constructed and even if it could be pried off of the wall (unlikely as I installed using 6 inch screws) the safe could still not be opened. All in all a very good purchase. I have just downgraded this item to a three star as a couple of weeks ago the lock stuck and my cleaning lady was left outside my house with mop in hand but no way to get in. Subsequently I managed to unstick the mechanism and have had no repeat problems, watch this space for any further developments!
I live alone in sheltered accommodation and my registered key holder is not always available. My Housing Association sells these “key safes” but at a vastly inflated price (almost 6 times the price of this product). I am more than happy with the quality and the H.A. handyperson who wall mounted it for me said it is every bit as good, quality wise, as the ones he normally puts up. Easy to follow instructions for wall mounting and for changing the pre-set security code. It took all of 5 minutes to put this on the wall with the screws provided – perhaps providing corresponding wall plugs might be a good idea. The safe was delivered within 3 days of ordering – another speedy delivery via Amazon.
After forgetting my keys – and the pain of tracking down a spare late at night, I decided a key safe was required. After a bit of research and disregarding pebble stones, upturned pots etc. this product fitted the requirement.
Arrived within 24 hours.
Simple instructions, easy to fit.
Suggest you fit it at eye-level or lower so that you can see the combination. It also will make it easier to take the keys out. you need to adjust their position to be able to close the key safe back up. I fitted mine a bit high, so its fiddly and need to re-site it. My fault, not the product. Its excellent. Hopefully I won’t need to use it, but….. just in case… a good investment.
Have installed one of these before at home, and fitted this one at my mother’s to hold a front door key to avoid any panic stations if keys got lost while out.
It’s well built and gives peace of mind, but there is limited space for keys and no internal hook to hang them on.
Have put it in a place which is not too noticable viewed from the outside of the house, and a little distance from the front door.
I would use one of these again if the need arises but if more than a couple of keys need to be stored (probably not a good idea) the bigger (and more expensive) unit seems a better option. I think that this unit is perfect for storing a single access key to gain initial entry, with other keys stored inside the house as necessary in another secure cabinet. It can avoid the need to carry any keys away from a property at all.
Overall, great value for money at [].
I found the item well made and easy to fix securely to an outside wall. There is plenty of space inside to house more than one key if that is required.
If there is a downside it would be that the combination wheels can be difficult to read and move easily into the correct combination sequence for opening, it would also be easy to return a key to the security box and close without moving the combination sequence to a number that would not open it. Therefore it does leave open the possibility that someone could access the key without needing to know the combination code. Masterlock Wall Mounted Key Storage Security Lock
