While fairly bulky this is very easy to use It only heats the amount of water you select (unlike the Breville one touch), and you can turn auto-dispense off to keep the water hot until you’re ready.

Followed the instructions on running 2 full tanks of water through first, the 1st coffee afterwards did have a chemical taste but 2nd one was just fine.

Unlike many reviewers I haven’t noticed any kind of funny taste when making drinks, however that I not the main purpose I use this for as I have a bean to cup machine for my coffee’s but any other drinks and other uses like gravy etc I have used this. While I have only had it for a month now I do have the following observations:

    1. The measurement is not totally accurate for example I set it for 500ml of boiling water and according to my pyrex jug it issued 520ml

    2. The left spout always delivers more water than the right spout so for example the 500ml about came out as 270ml on the left and 250ml on the right while no major this could be significant when doing cups for drinks.

    3. Unlike the nice video it is defintely not fast or instant and by the time it has measured the water and then heated it and dispensed it, I would say in my opinion it is no quicker and possibly even a bit slower than a kettle however this is compensated by the amount that can be dispensed.

This machine is easier to refill and use than our previous Brevile One Cup. We were always happy with the Brevile One Cup but I had to be onhand to refill it.
The Morphy Richards Redefine holds 3 litres of water as opposed to the BOC which only holds 1.5 litres, also the water container can be removed from the machine to the tap for refilling. So much easier for my Husband to use.

Great water capacity – one fill lasts all day. We noted some comments about the taste of the water when the dispenser was new. We put lemon juice in the tank and boiled a couple of cups, and it’s been fine since then. It’s much more convenient than a kettle and much safer for the kids to use. Because it boils only the amount of water we select, we can also see (via the Smart meter display) that we’re using less electricity per day.

Bought this a a Christmas present and it works very well. Unfortunately the Brita filter was faulty and I had to go out and buy some which I was not happy about. However, overall, once you get the setting you need for whichever job you are doing, it is a fantastic for the kitchen or even your bedroom. I would have given a 5 star if it had not been for the faulty filter which I am still waiting for Amazon to get back to me on.

Well, I was a bit hesitant in buying this due to the poor reviews about the taste of the water that comes out. However I took a chance and very glad that I did.
Fist things first…give the machine a good clean before use, sounds obvious but its very tempting to just plug it in and go.
Does the water taste awful when first used? Oh yes it does but so have many new kettles Ive bought over the years.
So, and here is the important bit… to remove the odd taste, read the user manual and follow the descaling instructions EXACTLY albeit without descaler in the tank, just fresh water. When it says leave the water in the top tank for 10 minutes, do so, do not dispense it until 10 minutes has lapsed. Not a minute less and repeat the process as per the book.
Once done the manky taste is pretty much gone. Do it again if you still have slight taste, but ours is now pretty much gone.
Great machine, easy to use and great capacity tank. Its a big thing so make sure you have room for it on your worktop.

A GREAT KETTLE ” But with one big flaw ”

We have now used this kettle ( hot water dispenser ) for 3 weeks at 12 cups of tea a day.. we are STILL tasting a chemical taste although its not as bad as when we first purchased the kettle.. this is the third hot water dispenser we have had over the years & they all have a chemical tastes for a few days but never as long as this machine… SO BE AWARE

cleaned it all before before using more than it said because i had read reviews saying it tasted not right so thats why i did extra clean and i drink black coffee and i had no other taste than coffee, i think it looks lovely in my kitchen, i have arthritis and this is why i chose this one and i use a jug to refill and…. i do find that if you keep it to the full amount is a lot better … because if not i thought i was not working right because bottom Reservoir had emptied but then realised that it does have to filter through so thats why i top it up ever drink i make and it does the trick. So all in all i think it does the job and .. i love it !

    Looks nice

I am really pleased with this hot water dispenser, and I am glad I managed to get it in the Black Friday sales!
It is great for quick water dispensing although my husband is still not convinced about putting the kettle away.
I like being able to change the amount of water dispensed, although lower levels are a bit of a pain to accurately get to, my mug is 340ml and hubby’s is 280, the dial is really sensitive so it’s easy to whizz past the measurements. This was the reason for 4, not 5 stars. Some room for improvement there I think.
As a big tea drinker, 6-8 mugs a day, it is perfect for my use, and quicker than hubby’s coffee bean to cup machine.
I even think it’s really quick for filling saucepans, although initial guessing of volume needed to cover a pan of vegetables or pasta is a pain.
It’s easy to fill, and I like the fact that the water is filtered. The filter bucket can be removed if it’s not needed, and I like the 3 litre capacity.
I have had no issues with any strange taste to the boiled water as others have reported, I did notice that some of those reviews were mainly older reviews, so I wonder if MR resolved it.
It clearly needs more space than a kettle on your worktop, but it’s not too big that it looks out of place. The drip tray is removable and can also be pushed back in when not in use.
You can also change the temperature to suit herbal teas or hot chocolate type drinks too.
Overall I highly recommend it, particularly if you only boil a kettle for one or two cups every time (I hated using re-boiled water, so would always end up ditching 200-300ml every boil).

I bought this in October, but had to send it back in December due to the water coming out of the machine not being hot enough. It meant that at the 95 degree setting, you could drink the coffee almost immediately . The returns process was very simple through Amazon, although initially amazon didnt want to know about it and referred you to the manufacturer, who then referred you back to amazon. Other than this, its easy to use, saves a bundle of time waiting for the kettle, and hopefully saves some pennies on the ever increasing energy costs. There’s a rotating dial on the front allowing you to select the quantity or hot water you want, and a 3 position selector for the temp (see above). Anything over 600ml and it wont dispense automatically, you have to press the auto button when you’re ready. Under this level, you can either auto dispense (water will pour when the temp is reached) or you it will pause until you press the auto button again.

I loved this machine when I originally had it and for the next few months after. Yes, it did have a little bit of a ‘taste’ initially and at random times after but we weren’t sure if that was our water or not. It was great for when working from home as I was only boiling what I needed.

Unfortunately, it started developing a fault whereby, after setting the dial and pressing the start button, it would change the amount of water required without you touching the unit! Sometimes this would be a minor amount from say 280ml to 340ml. Sometimes it would jump from 300ml to 580 so still under the auto-dispense meaning I would have to empty the tray underneath several times a day. It’s even changed the amount to 1.5l. It’s not safe!

Morphy Richard’s don’t seem to care as they haven’t even responded to attempts to contact them absolutely useless.

As someone else has said, don’t buy unless you can afford to replace it after a year.

I wanted to replace my 7 year old hot water dispenser for one with a bigger tank. This one ticked the box. When it was delivered I unpacked it to set up. And found there was droplets of water already in the machine. I do not know if this has been factory tested or a returned item from a customer. I commissioned the machine and filter as instructions. Everything works but the water taste is horrible and I’m hoping this plastic taste will disappear with use. I will not be getting rid of my old machine any time soon. UPDATE. This machine is now causing me concern, Water from upper reservoir does not flow to bottom reservoir as I assume it should. I’m constantly getting a tank warning that it’s not sitting correctly in its housing or needs water when it doesn’t.

Update. All problems sorted after reading other customers remarks such as release air from filter. Machine is working as it should. Love the fact I can dispense various quantities of water.

Thanks to the reviewer who shared the tip to descale this machine first using fresh lemon juice, worked a treat!!!
Tried with bottled lemon juice first but could still taste that metallic taste, so repeated the descaling process again with the juice of a fresh lemon, perfect!!
Easy to use once you get your head round the auto button, hot enough for tea, hubby now happy and Breville one cup in the bi

I had to replace my kettle, so I bought this after a lot of research.

    Cons
    1. The tank refill rate is slow which is disappointing when trying to fill a pan with 2 lots of 1.5l. So instead, I have to pour it directly into the bottom tank and use unfiltered water, which is not ideal since I live in a hard water area.
    2. Cannot directly pour water into a hot water bottle. Instead, I pour the water into a small saucepan and pour it into the hot water bottle from there.
    3. Cannot switch off at the socket as this will mean a reset when turned back on, i.e. have a vessel ready to dispense a small amount water into or do not turn off at socket.
    4. Only goes up in increments of 20ml, but this isn’t an issue for me.

    Pros
    1. Large capacity of filtered water in bottom tank, which gets refilled with filtered water from the top hopper/tank.
    2. Easy to use: turn the dial to the quantity needed and press start – 600ml and under gets auto dispensed but you can turn this off; 620ml and over never gets auto dispensed, so you have to press the button to dispense it.
    3. Retractable base so you can push it in when not in use or when you need to dispense water into a pan.
    4. Variable temperature setting so can use lower temps for hot water bottles/herbal teas/coffees and higher temp for tea.
    5. No plastic taste with this model 131004 (not for me anyway).

It did smell initially after running water through it but it did seem to go after a few rinses. I don’t have any complains it does what it says. Maybe the knob for selecting how much water is a bit sensitive so end up on 400ml when I want 380ml say, apart from that press start and it boils fairly quickly, give hot water, I’m happy. Replace this with a Breville one cup, which never really got the water boiling, but this seems to as it put the water in a small tank to heat it up then ejects rather than heating a tube and forcing the hot water through it like the Breville works.

I did initially have the same problem as mentioned in other reviews – the water tasted horrible when first run the machine and was really disappointed. Tried several methods – ran through several max vol batches of lime juice (letting it sit in the boiler for 1/2 hour) or white vinegar (then rinsing with 3 x max vol clean water) and while it reduced the evil flavour did not get rid of it. In the end after several attempts it took around 2-3 days before the taste minimised and once I then added the BRITA filter it finally went away and now works “normally”. Apart from this initial problem the unit works fantastically and I expect no further issues going forwards. If you find that you get the “plasticky” taste do try and persevere running lemon/lime and vinegar through for a few days. Honestly on day 2 I was ready to return it but glad I kept going as it now had no bad taste in the water and works as originally intended.

I was a little hesitant at first when I read some reviews before I purchased regarding the taste of the boiled water. But I must say I am thrilled to bits with this hot water dispenser.
Yes for two days the boiled water was undrinkable and had an awful aroma to it, but having taken the water dispenser out and left it out over night the problem went away instantly. I would highly recommend, just give it a chance to settle in and be patient with the chemical smell and taste, it will fade. Lovely hot water at the press of a button with a ding ding tune at start and finish!

Wow! This is just the best instant hot water machine ever! It is so easy to choose between the different temperatures or amount of hot water required. Cup of tea poured automatically in less than a minute with just the press of a button and Iv also filled a pan of boiling water for pasta!
The best bit is there is no taste to the water as noted in previous reviews. I didn’t even need to use the filter as we have good quality water.
    Highly recommended

I read all the info about this unit, and it did indeed have an awful disinfectant taste and smell when first used, I eventually fillled the water tank with water and a good dose of lemon juice concentrate and pressed the button to fill with 1litre of water and let It sit after boiling for about 10 minutes, I did this a few times and then flushed with clean water, the chemical taste after a day or so went and now it’s perfect, at first i thought I’d made a mistake with the bad reviews about the funny taste and smell, but stick with it and do the lemon juice thing. It sorted mine out and now I can’t live without it it’s brillia

Overall a great product. No problem at all up to now. Easy to use and clean. Flavour is good,I don’t use Brita filter as I use bottled water as we are in the hard water area. The Brita filter compartment can be taken of the water tank, just lifts out. The dial for adjusting water quantity is fine just turn it slowly till you get the right amount then press the centre of it,kettle does the rest.
    Recommend it highly.

This is very good BUT the taste was foul and the smell of the water was very bad. You have got to put concentrated lemon juice 250ml bottle in the tank without the brita filter, fill with water and set to 400ml and boil do this twice then I did 1.5 lt boil. Then wash out and run just water through boil 2, 3 times this got rid of both smell and bad taste. Some people are saying it’s the fillter, this was not the case with mine, if you are not sure fill without the filter and if the smell, taste is there it can’t be the filter that is the problem. Some one else said use oust, I did and it did not work for me. Lemon juice was the answer. Once you have done this it is a very good produc

Had this since 2nd June 2021 and it’s been fine. I drink alot of Lattes … and I do mean a lot … so the temperature selection is good and setting the mm is great.

Some people are complaining about the taste from the filter but apart from the occasional cup tasting slightly odd … I’ve not noticed it. A good rinse and soak of the filter should help with any strange tastes.

I really like this machine and it works well for me. The only feedback for future models would be to be able to have 2 or 3 buttons where you could set a cup size and mms to dispense for different people in the home.

Upon receipt of the replacement product, as the first product received was faulty, it has been operating perfectly and is a pleasure to use. I had previously owned an identical machine which was still operating as new other than the Britax water reservoir, which is made of plastic, had become badly split (approximately 2.5 inches from the upper edge to below the maximum water level mark inside the reservoir face). Therefore while filling the reservoir of the new machine I noticed that there is a hole directly above the reservoir front face and that heat was radiating from this hole and the front face of the reservoir was misted and very warm to touch. I suspect this was the cause of the split in the plastic reservoir in our older machine. Perhaps you can provide feedback to the manufacturer about this fault.

I bought this hot water dispenser after a back operation that meant I couldn’t lift anything heavy like a kettle and now I am still using it every day.

Easy to use and I have not experienced any odd flavours as mentioned by other reviewers. There are a few things you need to be aware of with this dispenser but I have hade a very positive experience.

    Good Points

    * Easy to use
    * Multiple temperature settings for tea and coffee
    * Set and forget if you always use the same cup
    * Has water filter which is particularly good in hard water areas
    * Uses standard water filter
    * Easy to keep clean

    Negative points

    * Large water tank. This is probably not a problem for most people an is actually a good thin but if you can’t lift anything heavy you might not be able to fill this up easily. I got round this problem by using a mug to fill up the tank but a kit that allowed this to be plumbed into the mains would be great.
    * The liquid volume knob is very sensitive so you need to turn it slowly.

The dispenser arrived on time and was very well packaged. I am very happy with the hot water dispenser and while not cheap has made my life much better since leaving hospital.

We had a bosch filtrino before this to it had big shoes to fill, and shoes it did fill and then some. Love the fact it has a 3l tank and can spew out as much water as you want in a very short time and on demand if required. I read reviews of funny tasting water and hence had my reservations, but its a great machine. Can be a bit tricky to use at times but overall great! The wife even approves of it and she isn’t easily pleased lol!

To start with it was very confusing to judge how much one mug of water needed, I have different sized mugs, all needing different amounts, however after using this for a few weeks wouldn’t be without it, its also great it can do two mugs at a time & I found different sized mugs as well, it’d be a good idea if the drip tray could measure how much water each mug needed & take away any confusion! The added beauty of this it has a britax water filter which can be removed if you don’t want it.
This also has adjustable temps for different drinks. Plus you can use the hot water for pot noodles & pasta as this has a big water tank, but it only heats the water you’ve programmed it for.
It’s smart, stylish & bigger than your standard kettle, so make sure you have space for it! Another added bonus – it’s easy clean!
The drip tray also tells you when it’s full!
The price I paid for it at first I thought was a bit expensive but now it’s worth every penny.
Would never go back to an ordinary kettle ever again, they cost more money to run than this machine which actually saves you money!
The tea comes out a clean & crisp flavour & no bits of limescale either! I’m not sure about coffee though as I don’t drink it indoors but those that do said it tastes much better & ohh the taste of hot chocolate, ummm mm, lovely.

he taste at first was not good, but if a coffe drinker maybe you would not notice, in tea not good, but i expected that from other reviews and had seen ways to remady it.
On first one delivered the float in water chamber sank after about a week so it stopped working as that says it is out of water, so amazon quickly sent a new machine before i sent the first one back, a great method of returns as there are no problem with throwing away packaging as they are giving you packaging with replacement. i kept original machine as i had got rid of bad taste! just swaped water tank. and returned machine. A very good thing with this machine is that the water tank is under machine in the shade and it is not a completly clear plastic . my previouse machines quickly formed green algea as tanks were clear plastic and on top in the light . Also the water is as hot as advertised my partner did not like previouse machines not hot enough for her. it great to do two mugs or cups at a time.

But once water amount selected you can’t change unless you turn it off.
So as long as you check each time what water you want each time not a problem.
Can be a little annoying as well If you haven’t put enough water in.
Glad I got it when at a reduced price.

    I love it actually!
I previously owned a VonShef hot water dispenser for 2 years, it began to wear out a few months before the warranty ran out (luckily) so I was able to return it. I didn’t really know what to expect as that was my first hot water dispenser, but now having experienced the vast superiority of the Morphy Richard’s machine, I’m gutted I put up with it for so long. Granted, it was more or less double the price, but it’s well worth it. The water really is 100 degrees, not many machines I’ve seen on the market are, so that’s worth noting! Easy to use, accurate measures and a lovely big water container.
Sorry, I’m writing war and peace here, but one more thing. I nearly didn’t purchase this because of the reviews. An awful lot of people said that there was a really horrible taste that they couldn’t get rid of even by cleaning. Thankfully I am not having too much of a problem. The first few cups admittedly were a little funky tasting, a couple went down the sink, but since then, I have not noticed at all thankfully.
All in all…. if you like your water boiling, with the option of lowering the temperature of course and you drink plenty of hot drinks, you can’t go wrong with this!!

I straight away cleaned it with lemon juice to get rid of the expected taste everyone said about. Didn’t taste at all dodgy. We measured the cups in anticipation as mine is much bigger than others. So yes you can’t double up on different size cups. Maybe when they do an upgrade they will. But I’m still not disappointed, and since then the price has gone up every time I looked. So as far as I can see I got a bargain. Of course we can all think of tweets but it does what I want. And I would buy another. It’s easy to clean and descale. And tells you when it needs doing and when to change the filter. What more could you need. My cup is hotter than a cheaper version I bought.

Bought partly as a space saver in a tiny kitchen, but also to make cooking easier. It’s just utterly fabulous!

We didn’t bother the integral water filter, as we already have a 9L filter already. In all it’s easier adding 3L of filtered water at a time.

Super easy to use, and with a little practice, we have barely any leftover water to dispose of.

Just a brilliantly designed, attractive looking addition to the kitchen.

    Descsling is really simple too.

Love it and can’t recommend it enough.

We haven’t bought ‘normal’ kettles in years anyway, having switched to instant hot water machines when Tefal brought out their one cup. We never looked back are that.

This one, from Morphy Richards, is the best one we’ve ever owned or used.

After 2 months with lots of use – in a very busy, family, home – I don’t think we could switch to another type of kettle!

This is our 2nd model, the first having lasted 6 years & only replaced due to a small, slow leak between water tank outlet and the main body, with no provision of spares for this section. Unlike other dispensers, this MR actually measures the amount of water selected, rather than boiling a set amount & returning the excess water to the tank, making it quite economical. Other than the above problem, it was completely reliable. It does, however, have a large footprint on the worktop & is taller than most other dispensers. It delivers water from 150 ml to 1.5 l filling a small cup to a medium saucepan. You can select from 100, 95 or 85 C, which is fine for a number of differing beverages. It will also only auto-dispense up to 600 ml. Above that you have to press the dispense button manually, thus not allowing you to flood the worktop with boiling water. It also incorporates a Britax filter in its 3 l water tank, if you require it. It is probably the best, most versatile water dispenser you can get but not the cheapest. Can thoroughly recommend it.

If there’s a weird taste, try changing the filter. I tried the lemon juice method as mentioned in a few reviews, but it always came back. Swapping the filter worked, so I suspect the Brita filters are to blame.

If you’re heating up a lot of water, or need to refill the tank during the heating process, let it filter through BEFORE you put the tank back in otherwise you’ll get the annoying “no water left” beep every few seconds while it filters through.

The reason I bought it was due to disability making my hands and wrists weak, and couldn’t always lift the kettle safely, and I’m do glad I did. It heats up quickly and is much hotter than the previous “one cup” water heater I had.

Filtered water slow and filter gets bubbles which stops flow. Temperature sometimes not hot. Water sometimes goes sideways and misses mug.

I was a little hesitant after all the reviews mentioning a bad taste, and yes, the first cup tasted awful. I ram a tank through of bicarbonated soda through it (about a table spoon in the water) and then put the Britta filter in and ram another full tank through. The bad taste has pretty much gone now, and I expect it will disappear completely with use (it’s actually barely noticeable now)
I removed a stat for the sensitivity of the volume selection dial, it’s way to sensitive and jumps about seemingly randomly and it’s finicky to set the desired amount of water. Not a deal breaker, but the manufacturer should have fixed this during product testing.

It’s ok, but has its niggles

The first one we received had the most awful taste from the tank, we did everything you could think of to get rid, lemon juice, descale liquid, flushed multiple times, all to no avail, plus it was not discharging equally. It was sent back within a few days of receiving and replaced by a newer model, which actually dings when it is ready to pour. All we had to do with the newer model was the pre-use flush and BINGO, all was good, no foul taste. After discussing the issues with MR, we also found out that if you register the heater within 28 days, they give you a 2 year guarantee. Old model not recommended, new model AA.

Great product. Easy to use. The water tank at the front is excellent making it simple to pull out and refill. The dial to set water quantity is a little too responsive and sometimes takes a few attempts to rotate it to the exact quantity you want. There is a well documented design fault with the Britta filter, so fill the top tank slowly too avoid air bubbles in the filter stopping the water from filling the lower chamber. These minor issues aside, it is a brilliant machine, boiling exactly the required quantity, from a small cup to a 1.5 litre saucepan. Other reviewers complained of taste issues, but I have not experienced those.

I read the reviews about the taste being off…..plasticy or metallic but I have found it ok
I live in an area with great water so I filled the tank and did a few boilings (as you’d do with a kettle) and it’s been perfect. I don’t even use the Brita filter.
It replaced a Breville which was good but only allowed one cup at a time. This thing is perfect when you need more than 1 cupful or even less than 1 cupful.

As a machine it’s self it’s is a very smart looking item .with the 3ltr tank it’s a godsend. Does every thing it says it does can’t fault it . The thing that let’s this down and morphy Richards do no of this let down but do nothing to rectify this horrible smell and metallised taste to the water especially tea it’s awful. Having sad that if this was to be rectified I would have no hesitation and purchase again but as it is now. I would not recommend to buy

    Love this!!
We’ve just replaced our one cup with this hot water dispenser.
It’s absolutely brilliant and we 100% recommend it.
The auto dispense means you can set to boil and leave the tea to brew and go back to it when ready. While the non-auto function boils 1.5ltr on holds it until you’re ready to dispense.
It’s compact in width and sits on the worktop perfectly.
Built in filter is only down side, but could be removed, with it in water can take quite a while to filter through but that really is being picky. Overall opinion-buy it!

Great to use and saves power as it only boilers what you require. Only gripe with it it takes quite a bit of use before the odd taste disappears. I would recommend that you boil water about 50 times before the horrible taste from it disappears as it can ruin your drink.
Once the horrible taste is gone its a awesome bit of kit, with the added bonus of the safety features on the kit.

This is a replacement for another machine that could dispense one cup energy saving and perfect for a lazy man . I read the reviews which helped ( thank you ) and washed the unit with lemon juice three times and then greasy water twice and it worked no first time plastic taste. I love the fact it has three temp settings and a number of water dispensing levels and one or two cups.. I vegan cook so to have instant hot water is a blessing. It looks good and my bubble friend was amazed at it.. very professional to have beeps very cute.

he reason I have bought another one of these redefine 131004 water heaters is that, the functionality of it is great,
a measured amount of water that you need, I personally use a brita filter jug before I pour any water into the water container itself. I have done this with the past 2 redefines I bought , but these have done the same at the rear left of the water tank container , (crack marks started to appear after 2 to 3 months of use), this then starts to leak and I have had to put a kitchen towel underneath to soak up the water. (although not much its annoying).

Everything about this water heater is fabulous apart from one thing, the water does not get to 100 degrees C. When I compare to my old tired Breville, This one looks great, is quiet in use, has a big tank. I love that I can adjust the volume easily and it’s quite precise. I’ve tried to live with the slightly cooler tea and even put a little less milk in to keep the temperature up, but I’m used to hotter tea and so this has to reluctantly go back. For those who don’t mind their tea a little cooler, or who mainly drink coffee or fruit teas, this will be great. I don’t know which one I’ll buy now as this is by far the best machine (except for water temp). I may end up with the Breville VKJ318, the newer model to the one I had, it never let me down in 7 years until it finally gave out. RIP.

After reading all the reviews about the metal taste, I decided to brave it and see for myself. There aren’t a lot of choices in the market. I flushed the machines something like 20 times with water heated at 100’c with some rice vinegar. Then the taste is gone – not sure it’s because I am less sensitive to the metal taste than other reviewers. I am loving this beautiful addition to my kitchen now!

I have had two breville hot cup machines and both were great. When the last one started to age a bit I wanted an new one but wondered what else was on the market. This one stood out because of the huge capacity, temperature & portion control and filtration. I figured it was only a little more than the hot cup so I would give it a go and if it wasn’t any good I’d send it back. I am now a few weeks in to using it and can honestly say it is the BEST hot water dispenser I have ever used. The one this this has over the hot cup is that if you wanted more than one cup you would have to go through the process everytime which lead me to buy a cheap back up kettle for when I wanted more and just two cups, this machine however allows you to get the water ready and then instantly dispense boiling water into several cups as you wish. The design is great. If their is a draw back it’s figuring out the volume needed for different cups but to be fair this is a very small price to pay for such an awesome machine.

I used to have a one cup water dispenser and I needed a better one so looked around and found this one. I’m in regretting it. It’s easy to use and hold 3l water.

People say it has a funny taste to the water. I’ve not found that as yet but I did soak my filter for 15 mins then put water through 3 times to get rid of any left over taste from the water filler and its fine no funny taste

The filters are easy to get hold of and easy to replace. Tea/coffee/oxo and everything else taste fine. My cups of no longer have tea skin over them. Love it. Only boils the amount of water you need and is quieter than my last kettle.

This machine heats only the amount you have requested, and offers it at your choice of temperatures.
It rethinks the “instant hot water” concept, and does the job well.
Minor nitpicks: it can fill 2 cups simultaneously from its 2 spouts, but that means that if you are filling only one, you have to be careful about positioning your cup.

  60. shopblogs411 says:

     United Kingdom

This is our third – and there lies the problem however it is fantastic.
The ability to throw two cups underneath and set the amounts, walk away and come back to a brewed cup of tea is great.
Flaws – if you want to make anything ‘instant’ gravy for example you have to get the dry ingredient quantity right as you can’t add a little or stop the flow early. Also our last one tended to dispense ever so slightly more out of the right spout – not a problem for us as the wife likes more milk than me so her cup always went on the left and mine on the right.
First model sprang a leak after about 18 months so replaced. Second one the dial started dancing around in quantity and we ‘decided’ to replace ready for our move into a new house – the third we hope will be fine.
For us it’s the Convenience prompting us to replace – nothing else – you’ll never make the capital outlay back in saved energy as they are expensive – but – it looks good, has variable amounts from 150ml to 600ml auto dispensed and 600-1500ml upon pressing a button when boiled. Integrated filter is a bonus but would be weary of the cheaper cartridges and we certainly didn’t have much luck with them – not through throughput and blocking either just poor flow from day 1 but thats nothing to do with the machine.
We still own a kettle albeit tucked away in a cupboard and just hope that we get a little more time from this one due to the ex-endive nature of the outlay versus a standard kettle.

I really like this machine. It works really well and boils the exact amount of water that you want. Its not the most straightforward machine to use but once you get used to it its great. Some have said its not hot enough but ive noticed its much hotter than me previous instant one cup kettle. also i have not noticed any difference in taste but this maybe because i dont drink tea. I find that its great that you can select the amount of water that you want so you can make a cup of coffee then you can fill your hob top espresso pot next then fill a pan of water to make food. It doesnt immediately dispence hot water but takes some out of the resevoir and heats it then dispenses it when its at temp. working with this though i have found it very effective to use now that i am used to it. The resevoir will hold 3 litres which is also great. The fact that you can pull it out horizontally is also good as its pretty easy to fill and put back in particularly if you have located the machine as i have under overhanging kitchen cupboards. I have not tried the different temps yet as i have not needed to but i think this would also be useful for those who like green tea etc. the drip tray is also a nice feature it pulls out from the bottom and clicks into place. there is also a mechanism which floats up to say when its full you can then pull it out fully to empty it. So if you use your kettle for cooking and drinks or two drinks at once its a great machine.

Okay I purchased this from the Amazon Warehouse deals – like new. It was actually brand new but very cheap. Thanks Amazon.
We use this every day (we are at home a lot during lockdown) and highly recommend it. It gets lots of use and is working without any problems. The insulated jug works for an hour or so. If you can’t use it quickly I recommend making smaller quantities as you can’t heat up the insulated jug using the warmer. If you have it in an office or busy household maybe the glass jug would work best.
Careful about leaving the filter full and starting another grind, this will block the system. I have found that a large cable tie unblocks it quite easily. But best avoided.
Buy this and don’t look back.

All the above 4 stars cancelled totally to zero because, all 20 guests over 1 month says all drinks tasted of chemicals and smelly. It was a bit of an expensive experiment as I like my old Morphy Richards water dispenser but now discontinued and this one is handy because it will do two cups at once, or measure out the right quantity for pasta etc.

Have waited a while before writing this review, just like most on first use the water tasted vile so i did the lemon juice trick and taste was fine. Fill with lemon juice and filtered it all through twice then filtered just water twice. We are also using the brita filter and taste has been fine since . Pros, looks modern and very stylish also doesnt take long for two cups and saves faffing with kettle. Cons, splashes are a pain flings water with such ferocity that counter ends up with coffee splashes over it, bit expensive for what it is. However i wouldnt hand it back lol

I had really high expectations for this kettle but there are a couple of problems 1. when you do two single cups of tea separately the second one seems to not work without having to press the buttons in top of times.
    2. After the water has completed coming out there tends to be a moment when it carries on dripping which is really annoying. 3. Really expensive I think. 4. You need to have the setting on the hottest water otherwise the tea or coffee once you’re ready milk he is too cold

Heard different reviews on this, and was unsure whether to buy it or not. I decided to give it a try and when I first tried it, I was really disappointed and was all set to send it back as couldn’t get rid of the awful taste. I tried everything from de scaler , lemon juice and bicarbonate of soda, and it was only after about 3 days of this that the taste had started to lessen. I’m glad I purchased this now, as it’s so easy to use, and you don’t have to refill it as often as others. There are different temperatures and a dial to allow you to fill one cup, or up to a saucepan full in one go. My previous one was a pain especially when trying to make gravy and it only gave you a small amount at a time. I would recommend this and would probably buy again. I have arthritis in my hands, so I fill it with a jug to make it easier.

I didn’t find ( after running through a few times) a plastic taste – is a great machine and the large tank that fills from the front is a bteer design than all the ones I have had in the past ( cooks and co and Brita filter breville ones).

The inbuilt filter ( takes brita max or similar cartridges) is a welcome feature in my hard water area, I still double filter just in case though!

Only lost a star as is a little faffy if you accidentally hit auto and then have to wait for the quality of water to heat, or if you are setting larger quantities and there isn’t enough in the tank, but that is user issues rather than the unit itself.

Overall am very pleased with it. Setting the quantity of water you want it to dispense is extremely useful for recipes etc, plus the dual pour allowing you to fill 2 cups at once is also good if making a few cuppas at once.

    Very happy with it!

Good product that fills the gap between one cup ( small cups ) and a kettle. Being able to quick boil 800ml of water for a saucepan with just a button push is so convenient. Previous one did only last 3 years so balance convenience over longevity.

The product could be so much better if the manufacturer provided documentation or even over the phone support for the advanced calibration mode the device has so that you could reliably change the calibration for your country/location/elevation.

This is an attractive and well made machine. I like the water measure selection., the temperature options, and the water filling arangements. Controls are logical and easily understood.

What I don’t like is the twin spout dispensing arrangement. I only use it for one cup and when filling, find the water spouts are only just within the confines of the cup/mug rim. As it appraoaches the end of the fill, the jets tend to splay out and splash, often catching my hand as I try to mix my Cappuccino. Also, there is no clear shut off to the water flow, it sort of fizzles out.

A desirableoption would be to enable switching beteen one fill spout and two.

Bought this to replace an old brevil one cup. It is a lot bigger, but I love the fact you can adjust the amount of water it despenses. Lost a star as when setting to 100 it comes out in the low 90’s. Still hit enough for my tea though!!

  74. Anonymous says:

I drink coffee and my wife drinks tea so while I make the exact volume in an espresso machine she boils a kettle with much more water than needed. Enter this little machine. We have tried instant boilers in the past but they never quite boil but heat the water as it pours. That is the water starts as soon as the button is pressed. This machine is different. It dispenses the required volume of water into an internal boiler and once it has boiled it dispenses it into the cup. Its a little slower than the old machines but it does provide water hot enough for tea with the bonus that it is Brita filtered.

The volume can be set for up about two litres but for large qualities it’s easier and probably quicker to use a kettle as it would take most of the tank and it’s a little slow to fill as the water has to get through the filter first. That is not an issue when a cup or two is required.

The volume setting is OK but can vary. When set for 200 its about right for our mugs but it does occasionally overflow. Not a problem if the drip tray is in place but if the facility to move it underneath to get a pan under the spout is used, don’t forget to put it back.

It is possible to set the auto pouring on or off and for larger quantities auto is not an option. This makes sense as forgetting to put the pan under and having two litres of boiling water over the work area is not the best idea.

Finally the temperature can be set lower than boiling if required.

Not perfect but comes closer than an thing we have tried in the past.

After several years of living with a Breville “Hot Cup” and being perenially frustrated at how inaccurate it is and how you can’t boil a pan’s worth of water, this has been an absolute revelation.

Simplicity to use, spot-on-accurate, able to boil plenty of water at a single press (and smart enough to let the reservoir refill from the filter when it needs to. And you can set the temperature to 85, 95 or 100C. Absolutely brilliant.

I’ve not noticed any of the tainted flacour that other reviews have mentioned – perhaps it was an early teething problem.

If you’re using a Breville quick-cup, this is a worthy upgrade. If you’re using a regular kettle, what are you waiting for?

We’re still looking for the small cosmetic defect that our “used” item was supposed to have, so are delighted with the condition. The water dispensed for the first few days did have a metallic taste but that soon disappeared and we are realising how good tea and coffee can taste with filtered water. So quick and convenient to make hot drinks and we are not heating any more water than we need.

Replaced my breville with this due to having 2 cups. It’s ok but not as easy to use as the breville. You can’t stop / start as easy. My husband doesn’t like it at all but getting used to it now. Dispenser doesn’t always do equal amounts in the cups. It does take a while for larger quantities of water, but I suppose that’s comparable to a kettle. Would be better if volume went up on 10’s rather than 20’s
    I wouldn’t re purchase.

We have previously been using a stay warm water heater 3l and it was okay and kind of did the job, however, it was a bit of a pain as we had to fill it with our Brita water jug and the process took ages and we were rapidly using up the Brita filters.
This is ideal for our needs, with a Brita cartridge built in and the ability to dispense the exact amount of hot water at the temperature we actually need.
It is very easy to set-up and simple to use, very efficient with the speed with which it heats the desired amount of water, it heats 1.5l to 100 degrees in under a minute and that is impressive.
The item is of very high quality and looks really attractive in our kitchen and I would highly recommend it instead of a convention kettle or water heater.

Reading all the reviews, there are many more positive reviews about this product than negative and the only main negative comment was on the same subject. We received the item and found it had a metallic taste ..BUT we read suggestions from other people and followed these. Within 1 day we had solved the problem. Do a cleansing of the machine using just water and no other liquids 3x and then add pure lemon juice into the water container, boil and flush through 2x. This cleared all the metallic taste and we now have an excellent machine. Would not go back to a kettle now. Hope this helps

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersShould I be getting this excited by a ‘kettle’?

I used to own the Bosch filtrino many moons ago, the type that heats as it pumps. And liked it for many reasons. But it eventually died (the pump and tubes). So reverted to old skool kettle and looked around for something to replace – but they all are these capsule ones which I dont want.

Eventually I noticed this ages ago, but I couldn’t justify the 150 cost coupled with some of the negative reviews.
Then it came on sale with Amazon and I pulled the trigger on it!

Ever so glad I did (so far). From the outset this looks (and is packed) like a real premium product. top marks there to MR.
I was still concerned by the reviews of the taste so carefully read the instructions on setting up the machine, and washed the water holder before use. Prepping the included brita filter as per instructions.
I then let the machine do the initial setup and then I went through with a few boils. First few were small amounts at 100c to heat element, and clear out the chambers. Then I did one last one at 700ml
Replaced all the water and every cup so far has tasted fine (thank goodness for that). Note – I did not use any descaler or other in the machine, as some have. I did buy it ready though.

Use of the MR machine is easy, dial in the amount of water (yes this dial is more sensitive than it needs to be, proving troublesome at first) and select 3 temps to boil. Press start and around 30 secs later very hot water comes out.
Can also dual fill two cups side by side. Ready to boil more cups right after this.

    Looks tidy too.

Things I don’t like:- as said the sensitive dial; a little red light always on when not in use (come on! eco!?); and slight concern over the durability of the connector for the water reservoir and machine – I like it, and my cuppas, so its going to get filled many times over in its life! hope this connector can cope, which I am sure its been tested for.

Overall chuffed with first few days of use.

Sure enough the taste was initially just as others had stated but nothing daunted I decided to try remedy this. What I did was to follow the descaling instructions WITHOUT using descaling products twice and voil good tasting tea which actually makes sense if you think about it , as most new electric kitchen appliances have an unpleasant smell or taste until the element has cleaned itself off. I’m really glad I decided to get this as I have been able to retire my old 1 cup heater and the kettle freeing up work surface. It’s a really useful appliance and am glad I decided to buy. We have been using this now for several months now. The only major gripe is the water tank. Has you can see in the picture it is a dark plastic, this makes it hard to see the water level. Minor issue again is the water tank again, not that easy to slide a full tank back into position with out spilling.
Other than those to “little” problems the unit is great, once you get your head around how to use it .
The main reason I bought this above all other units, was funnily enough the removable water tank; easy to remove and simple to clean
All in all I would highly recommend it.

I live on my own but have lots of friends that ‘drop in’ for a cuppa. This is perfect – I can choose the temperature (especially useful if you like herbal teas or those sachets of drinks like Nescafe Mocha) – I can chose how much liquid and I am only boiling (or heating) one cup at a time.
I also find it useful when I’m adding water to vegetable for cooking in the microwave, or adding water to a saucepan for other cooking. It can be boiling, or not quite –
If friends come round I can vary the temp between coffee (95), tea (100) and herbal tea (85) – all in the same session – great.
The water reservoir is useful to have – and because it incorporates the Brita Maxtra filter it is ‘nice’ water that is dispensed. It’s easy to fill too – and the machine reminds you to fill up once the level gets too low.
It’s more expensive than some but for me it was the perfect solution.

Even though I have just got mine I find it is very efficient. With the variouble water measure it gives the right amount of water required for each cup, the water runs fast and with out spluttering (unlike the andrew james one I had). Because of the filter the drinks taste much cleaner and fresh ( which is probably why some people who left reviews said it tastes funny) but I thought the drinks tasted much cleaner and therefor much better. This is now my third machine and so far this one is the best, and well worth the extra money it cost. I would highly recommend this product. I also like the fact you can fill two cups at a time which also saves time and effort.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI had the Breville One Cup which I liked but it started slightly leaking from the base, seems to be a common problem, so instead of getting another, I started looking into other quick boil kettles. Found this one, and even though it was expensive compared to the one cup, it’s the better one of the two.

It takes slighty longer to boil compared to the one cup as it draws in the required amount of water before starting to heat it up. We had no strange taste like other reviews have mentioned but two of my mates have said their coffee tastes a little weird but that’s down to the filtered water. I did them a coffee without using the filter and they said it tasted the way it should.

If you’re wondering if to go for this or the One Cup, I’d recommend this one by far.

Golden Review Award: 24 From Our UsersDespite all the negative reviews, i thought i would give this a go but be prepared to send it back. Up till now, we love this machine. The ability to make 2 cups of coffee / Tea at the same time is brilliant. Its simple to use and east to set up, the machine is very intuitive, just read the display. So far we have not experienced any foul taste like some other have.
The only reason we did not award 5 stars is because the decant measure goes up in 20 ml where 10 ml would have been better for different size cups, but that does not detract from how good the machine is. At the moment our kettle is residing in the attic.
UPDATE : Its been about a month now since we purchased this item, i have to say we love it, no smells or foul tastes that some others have experienced in fact its so good we have increased the star rating to 5

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI’ve been using this for 5 months and, in general, it’s really good. However, I agree with others about the metallic taste, with or without the filter. So I now use bottled water as I thought it was our local water’s problem. The taste is now fine with bottled water…but obviously more expensive to use! My problem now is that I’ve just descaled it but it will not re-set itself as per the instruction manual. Will be contacting MR asap.

Golden Review Award: 12 From Our UsersWhen it was first used the taste of plastic and chlorine was so overpowering it nearly got returned. I thoroughly cleaned it with a citric acid solution, both the water container and the boiler element. Rinsed it through about 5 times boiling each time.
It all worked well and now it works brilliantly, no taste at all. You need to learn the size of your cups and mugs etc. The facility to fill two mugs at the same time is great as we usually make two cups a go, just remember to use the same size cups. It is slightly larger that our old one but it does hold 3 litres of water which means you don’t need to fill it every 5 minutes. The facility to boil up to 1 1/2 litres in one go is great as our previous one could not manage this. Gravy , pasta etc all are easy. After a week in use we are very happy with how it is now working

his is the first day of using it. looks good. hard to set it to exactly what i want but it seems to get near enough. the only bad thing i can say so far is the web site to register for the guarantee. i spent more time trying to register it than i did playing with it. there is a bit of a taste to my coffee but i think that will go in time.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI have had this for two months and I have gotten used to it now. It is better than a kettle because it has a filter in it and that means my tea tastes better than boiling tap water. I used to use filtered water from a jug and fill the kettle with that, but this is easier. It doesn’t waste water like my old kettle, in which I always had more water than I needed, because the Redefine only boils the water we need and does not waste water. It is more efficient in electricity consumption for the same reason and because you can choose to heat the water to 85, 95 or 100 degrees depending on what drink you are making. You can decide how much water to boil in increments from 150ml to 1.5 litres, which means I can boil a cup of water or water for a large teapot or a cooking pot, which is great. I wasn’t sure if this would be a fad and we would just go back to using the kettle. However, after two months the kettle is still in the cupboard.

Golden Review Award: 71 From Our Users5 stars with a but. We have been using this for 1 month now. I also bought a lot of filters but sent them back when I noticed that they needn’t be used. It’s mostly used daily for making tea directly into a mug – typically around 10 a day some just boiling 300ml of water. Max 600ml for 2 mugs. My son uses a larger mug so run that separately.

Initially there was a taste complaint – metallic. Rather than send it back I used Astonish descaler on it rather thoroughly. 1.75L kept hot for an hour. That fixed the taste aspect but if allowed to cool it still doesn’t taste like tap water. Boiled water doesn’t. We still think it tastes a touch different to water out of a kettle but that’s by no means certain. It’s probably down to boiling small quantities of water, some is always left in a kettle.

Now comes the but. We made tea by dialing the amount, placing the mugs, adding milk, pressing the button and dropping in a tea bag. Results while it steeps are interesting. The tea layers rather than fully mixing with the milk and water. Not a problem. A few days ago though we started getting weak tea so stopped adding milk before the “boiling” water. The temperature had clearly dropped. Yesterday I descaled it and now things are back to how they were originally. It even produced a decent mug of tea at 95C. I forgot to reset to 100C after descaling it. So for our use it looks like it will need descaling monthly. I live in B’ham and have extremely soft water. I have never ever descaled a kettle. They only ever get a slight trace of scale. I don’t think that run through filters that fit the machine would help this aspect much especially in hard water areas.

Other aspects. The water tank has the handle on the side rather than on the top as per most kettles – it’s not an easy thing to handle when full so we generally only 1/2 or 1/3 fill it to keep the weight down. The hot water drop into a mug is pretty large but that allows other items to be filled – my wife uses it for gravy etc. Personally I think a mug stand wouldn’t be a bad idea. The machine defaults to auto fill unless the volume is over 600ml. Personally I think that it should be selectable really so that it can be permanently disabled. The knob used to select the amount of water can be a bit bizarre. It seems to react according to how fast it’s turned in an odd fashion so selecting 300ml for instance may skip past 320 to 280 when the turn rate is slowed down. Probably silly over complicated software.

We’ll stick with it and may add a filter and see if that gets around descaling. As our water is already very soft I don’t think it will. Pour through filters can only do so much.

Update – Descaling did increase the water temperature but not by as much as I thought. Being retired and not wanting to turn into hot house plants we run the heating on rather low settings during the day. Lowish at night too really. I tried lifting the mug so that it was directly under the spouts by by hand – result hotter water and better tea. All down to how far the thin stream of water falls going into a mug. A bit like cooling hot soup, take a spoon full, lift and run it back in. The alternative is to add milk after the tea has steeped. We use borosilicate glass mugs so heat loss into those is low compared with other types.

Good product, handy being able to fill two mugs at once. It is quick and quieter overall than the Bosch Filtrino, it’s predecessor. The volume control is a little too sensitive can overshoot/undershoot easily when adjusting,

Two drawbacks. The distance between where the water comes out and a mug is too great. This causes some splashing and it is hard to judge just where to align two mugs. The 3 litre water tank is a great idea, but in reality it is 1.5 litres. 1.5 litres fills the upper tank which then needs a number of minutes to filter through, too long to stand waiting. So inevitably it gets filled every time the top tank is empty. I guess I could take the filter out.

Golden Review Award: 29 From Our UsersFabulous, great, love it. Easy to set up, easy to use and can get just the amount of water you want. It was expensive but you get what you pay for. Love the fact that it holds 3 litres and can fill up a saucepan if needs be. The built in filter system by Britas is very useful, no more jugs cluttering up the side. I am paraplegic and with arthritis in both hands, I have no difficulty filling the tank or using the machine, Cannot recommend too highly, a must for every kitchen.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI have only given 4 stars as there was a definite taint at first in spite of following the instructions to the letter. I put the filter in and that cured the problem. I used it until it needed replacing and then tried without and it is now ok. Love the fact that only one cup/mug can be dispensed if required, stops my husband filling the kettle to the brim for 2 mugs! The reservoir is easy to refill. There is a slight difference in the amount dispensed from each side. Though mine seems to vary from side to side some reviewers seem to have consistent differences.
It arrived within the specified time.

Golden Review Award: 14 From Our UsersI have been looking to purchase a boiling water deaspenser for some time, after watching reviews on utube i was unimpressed with the tiny trickle of water, and the time it took to fill the cup, until I saw this Morphy Richards product it’s quick, despenses water into the cup at normal speed , easy to use and filters the water perfect. Very happy with my purchase.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersDoes what it says on the box, or it would have if it had not come in a coffee percolator box, with no outer signage of the actual contents. In general good even for a Ludite. However like myself having reached a shall we say mature stage of life, the end drips having completed a dispensing cycle make it a little messy and make the drip tray a necessity. Also the height of the dispensing nozzles tend to make a splash also. Other than that its good

Golden Review Award: 43 From Our UsersI have only had this a couple of days so I can’t comment about reliability as yet. However first impressions are really good! I have previously had a water dispenser (Bosch Filtrino ||) so am able to make comparisons. This machine is just so much better. The Filtrino was a huge disappointment. It was cheaper but still nearly 100 and really poor quality, considering it is Bosch.

I didn’t want to get one of the more basic dispensers only because, from what I can gather, they heat a set amount of water and that which is not dispensed is returned to the water holder to be reheated at another time. I really wanted a machine that delivered freshly boiled water.

This machine heats the amount of water selected and then dispenses it quickly once hot. The Filtrino seemed to heat the water as it dispensed, giving it time to cool slightly in the cup. This is also really easy to fill the tank and change the volume and being able to dispense up to 1.5 litres at a time is a huge bonus for me as I have had to pack my kettle away as I don’t have room for both. I had to press the dispense button quite a few times on the Filtrino if I wanted to fill a saucepan, for example.

If you are going to spend more money on a water dispenser than about 50 then this is definitely the one to have.

I haven’t had any problems with strange tasting water or anything. It may be a new batch (although I bought it from Amazon Warehouse deals). It was described as being repackaged and with small damage to front and sides. The box was a bit battered and had been re-taped but product in perfect condition.

    Recommended.

Golden Review Award: 13 From Our UsersOver the years I have had a tefal one cup heat exchanger (not hot enough), breville variable dispenser (great but rubbish if you have guests or want to fill a pan) and a Bosch filtrino (just like the breville but also very noisy). This is perfect – filters water, allows you to boil 1 cup but also up to 1.5L.

I saw some of the negative reviews a little while ago and didn’t get it; but these now seem less and the overall rating went up so I took the plunge. The main issues for some were plasticky smell and not 100C.

Well I switched on today and got a very hot cup of tea but there was a taint. I would say not plasticky but more like Milton sterilising fluid (which maybe from testing and clean down at the factory). I recognised the taste as we have cleaned our caravan water systems with it and you can taste it for ages. So I boiled 3L for pasta and then ran a descale with acidic descaling fluid. Full rinse as per manual and second cup of tea taint free!!!!

A perfect solution. I now have a one cup to stop the OH filling the kettle and a full size kettle when needed. I love it!!!!
