This is my first steam generator iron and I think it’s brilliant! Ironing is not so much of a chore now. Obviously it takes a little getting used to but it didn’t take long.

This is the fourth MR steam generator we have bought love this model the fact it cleans and descales itself is a godsend also it’s really lightweight buying from Amazon was 40 cheaper than direct from MR what’s not to like and the 2 yr guarantee is a bonus .

I upgraded to this model after my other one broke. Lovely ceramic base. Very light to use as the base sits on your worktop. No need to keep filling with water due to having a large tank. My ironing is a breeze and out of lots of different brands I’ve tried I find Morphy Richards’s the best. Would definitely recommend.

Temp dial in wrong place
This is a good product that is hard to fault. Generates plenty of steam and irons well. This is the second Morphy Richards steam generator iron we have had the last one gave great service for several years. The only slight disapointment is that the temp adjuster dial is easily moved accidentally when picking up or replacing the iron you catch it unintentionally with your finger. I also have to mention that this design flaw was present on my old Morphy Richards steam generator iron. I was hoping that the dial had been tightened in the new one. Sad to say it hasnt. Small niggle aside its a good item of kit that does the job well.

This is a great iron. It makes ironing so much easier than a standard iron.
It’s easy to use and produces a good jet of steam so it works just as well if you want to give a quick iron to something that is hanging on a hanger without having to set up the ironing board.

So far it’s worked ok!!! Touch wood.. it continues too do so for a long time, as you may guess,I like this iron. And when it’s life is over I hope that I can afford and get another very similar in colour and design and usage quantity.

This isn’t the iron I would have chosen to replace my old one, but I borrowed one off my daughter and loved it, so decided to buy one. The self de-scale is a great feature, easy to use, good heat settings, great long wire and cable. Working really well – pleased with my purchase.

Like a steam gun! Ironing takes only a few seconds now! Glides right over and takes out any creases. 3 steam settings, however you need to use the correct water. I use reverse osmosis water. You will not be disappointed in this iron.

This was bought to replace a Karcher that is no longer made. In terms of ironing this is excellent with potential steam power greatly larger than the Karcher that we thought was good. Overall an excellent replacement – only issue from our point of view is that we now need a separate floor steamer. Oh well.

Bought to replace an aging Swan steam generator iron which was throwign our limescale all over our clothes.
This one has much more power and a built-in limescale removal tool. Early days but no complaints!
When we first starting using the steam iron it leaked constantly – enough to think about returning it!! Having contacted Amazon’s renowned customer service team – they were happy to return/ refund – but suggested they put mne in touch with Morphy Richards technical team first – which we did. They advised that it might need the thermostat resetting (simple procedure) – this, along with us ensuing correct setting on the steam dial cured the problem. The iron works very well – strong steam settings (3 levels) – we have not had to use the top setting yet! Provides strong steam jet to deal with all fabric tyes – from thin cotton to thick denim jeans. The design is also great – the iron clips into place meaning you can carry it around by the iron handle and thye power cord and steam pipe wrap nicely and securely around the base.
Overall we are very pleased with the steam iron – can definitely recommend.

Makes light work of an annoying job. I like to iron using the steam jet on all the time so I need a steam iron that can deliver. Some of the work tops need a high weight of steam to make the creases fall out and this iron wakes light work of this bothersome job. Clothes look very good afterwards. We bought this to replace our Bosch steam generator iron that died- in hindsight this one is actually better!

I am thrilled with this iron, it flies through the stubbornest creases! I’ve had steam generators before but this is the best I’ve had yet…needs no filter … it really is self cleaning. It’s quite large but the iron attached to the base for storage. I’d buy the same again.
Really pleased with this as I have a bit of tennis elbow so wanted a lighter weight iron. This is a lovely weight and the steam generator creates a great amount of steam even on the lowest setting. The downside is you need a strong ironing board as it’s a heavy beast to put on the end and the cord storage is pretty useless – not sure what they were thinking when they designed it as the holder is on the wrong side! Otherwise it’s great and one tank does the whole lot usually – two king size quilt covers and about 8 shirts

Amazing and powerful. Love the amount of steam and the fact it heats up water as its used. Vs using a pressurised container to heat up the steam which then needs to be cooled down, depressurised before refilling.
Yes it’s expensive but it cuts down ironing time even more. Than my cheap previous steam generator iron.
Only downsides are the noise and the descaling aspects. When it forces water from the reservoir to be heated it is noisy. But only lasts about 2-3 seconds.
As for the descaler. Its supposed to decent any scale into a separate part of the water tank which can be poured out. This is supposed to. Happen every 5litres or so. As of yet I’ve seen no evidence. Admittedly I don’t live in a hard water area but I’d have expected to see water or something there or hear a noise to say something different was happening.
Would I buy it again. Yes.
First steam generator iron I’ve owned and a significant improvement from the old standard iron. Easy to use features and gets through ironing quickly. Not used it long enough to know if it will completely prevent limescale build up. Quite expensive but purchased as longer term investment instead of multiple cheap irons that suffer from limescale build up.

I have previously owned this iron and bought a second but there are two issues, firstly the iron plate catches on sides and corners of materials due to the shaping of the iron plate it’s self the indents at the point. Secondly with my new burgundy colour it is very hard to see how high the water level is while being refilled, my last iron had a grey tank that made it easier to see clearly the level. Other than that very happy.

I have had a few steam generator irons and this one is by far the best! There is nothing negative I can say about this product, it does exactly what it should and it even switches itself off if not used for a certain amount of time.

Maybe it’s sad to say, but I Love this iron! I get through my ironing really quickly and if you have delicate blouses etc to iron, put them on a hanger and use the iron vertically, steam and the creases vanish! Great price too! I checked lots of web pages and this was best price.
I have had Steam Generator irons for years. My first was a Tefal, is was great. Then I bought another Tefal it lasted about 5 years so I had my money worth. My third was a let down from Tefal but it still lasted a good few years! But I decided to changed to a Murphy Richards. It was great at first then after about 18 months it just blew up.. it did not catch fire but it just went BANG and then it was dead. It had a 2 year guarantee so I was sent a replacement.
Now again after 18 months the generator part of the replacement iron works but not the thermostat of the iron. So no steam comes out and the iron does not get hot but the bottom does!
When I rang Murphy Richards it was no longer under guarantee because your replacement starts off when your first one ended. They could not advise me how to get it fixed. They could only offer me a deal on a new one .
Where is their SAVE THE PLANET terms?? So something else for the landfill.
I will never buy another Murphy Richards generator iron again.. they are expensive items and you expect them to at least last the 2 years!

We’d already had one of these irons and once you have had one with a separate steam tank you wouldn’t go back to an ordinary iron. My only one criticism of this machine is that the ‘max’ water level isn’t very clear to see when you fill the water tank up.
That said: these are wonderful. They get creases out of clothes like no ordinary iron does, they deliver quite a lot of very hot steam and make ironing everything so easy – the iron does the work rather than you having to press so idea for someone with a bad back etc. (Although they are more cumbersome/heavier to put away). They make light work of clothes that have been dried in a tumble drier, and they also make clothes look like new, flattening the nap when things start to rub up with wear. You also don’t get the shiny look when certain fabrics are ironed. As if that wasn’t enough, you can also use them to vertical steam, so if you’ve got a jacket for example that’s creased or smells of smoke etc after a night out, you can put it on a hanger and steam it. Watch your fingers! Gets rid of creases and freshens up dry clean only things. I bought this one because it’s got an auto-descale which my previous one didn’t. The old one had to be rinsed out and shook to get the limescale out which is not that easy a job. The descale function is so much easier, it automatically cleans itself out when it comes on and you just empty the dirty water and scale from a separate tank. Can you tell that I like it?
I have used a steam generator for a few years now but this one is so different. At first when I felt how light the iron itself was I didn’t expect much but boy was I wrong, it is so powerful, there is no going over the same spot over and over, the creases have gone in one stroke. A feature I love is how in control you are of the steam, it has three settings which I’ve only ever had to use the 1st or 2nd setting. The only criticism I have is when filling the water tank, you can’t actually see how much water you’re putting in, it perhaps needs to be made a clearer plastic. Overall a fantastic product that I would highly recommend.
This iron is really easy to use, gives a very good finish to any sort of fabric. It has a 3 settings for steam so will suit finer fabrics to heavy cotton and linen. It has a self cleaner feature so doesn’t leave any streaks or marks on the cloths. The whole unit is easy to carry as the top and bottom click together quite easily, i did find the whole unit a bit heavy and that is why iv’e marked it down, but the performance of the iron is exceptional. It make ironing a pleasure instead of a chore.
