Honest review
I am very impressed with this device. It has Two methods for video storage option 1 is SD card or other option is to buy AWS cloud storage through the company which I have done and it’s at very reasonable price for a month or yearly . It’s waterproof and durable for any weather condition. Excellent day and night footage . Works with Alexa and word with the app that is for the camera . Live notifications sent through Alexa and app . Live stream and playback for Rescurance. Very good price. And would recommend in people purchasing this for safety around your home/ office .
Great product, good price
Timely arrival and well packed, everything you could require during fitting is inside the box, including an Allen key and Masonary bit, I only needed a 25mm speed bit and screwdriver to fix the camera to our eaves. I had some difficulty in pairing the camera initially but then we are in a notoriously bad area for Wi-Fi signal, but with a little help from the live chat line and a bit of patience in retrying the setting up process, it was successful, (you will need your Wi-Fi password to hand). Once set up the camera initiates immediately when reattached to the power supply, pretty useful when you are stuck up a ladder during installation. Getting the required view was easy enough, I fitted the camera with the adjusting screw loose, called up the viewing page on my mobile and then moved the camera to suit before retightening the adjustment screw. I was delighted with the daytime clarity of the image and amazed by the night view, the sound quality was also excellent. The best part of the whole process was in the ability to be able to talk through the camera to people passing, I had our neighbour looking for me under the car, we were in stitches for hours playing it back, ( this might not be recommended practise as our neighbour has a great sense of humour, not all neighbours do). Great product at a good price, we are delighted and a little amazed with this piece of kit.
Highly recomemend based on price and great quality
This camera arrived within 2 days of being ordered and its certainly worth it’s very low price tag. You can record for weeks depending on the memory card that you insert on the card! The picture quality is also very good and I have yet to have any issues with the easy to use app. Sometimes it does log you out and you simply need to log pack into your account but if anything I like this feature as it ensures that I don’t forget the password for the app! You can also save recordings on your phone if you need to use them at a later date as the memory card writes over it’s old memory which means you do not have to touch the camera once it’s set up.
Excellent camera and suppo
Set this up. Fitted easily to my outside wall made easier with the drilling template provided. In fact everything you need ie drill bit, Allen key etc already in the box. I had issues setting up WiFi connection but it turned out to be user error my end. Having said that the set up using noises needs to be more clearer to the user. Anyways the support I received from NetVue was second to none. I work in IT services and this was what companies should aspire to.
Anyway, all set up and streaming high quality images to my iPhone. Will be buying two more soon and also the vue bell once it is available in the UK.

Well built, solid security camera with good WiFi receptio
I was looking for an external camera to cover the rear of my property.
There was a raft of different types of camera out there. Many of which, seemed to be let down by expensive subscriptions, and buggy apps.
I went for the Netvue, as you can access the recordings (if you fit a micro SD card) without a subscription.
So I fitted a 64gig micro SD and all seems to be well so far.
That said, the Netvue app does seem to working OK (currently on the free trial) and the ongoing subscription costs do not seem to be too excessive.
I should note that setup and installation was a breeze. I connected via Wifi (prior to fitting) and the app took me through each step of the process with ease.
Reasonably priced and Solid camera system
Camera and app are great. Put 32gb storage in it which only holds 24/7 full quality recordings for 2 days. I recommend fitting a bigger one. Motion detection lost its fifth star as I have to set it to maximum sensitivity to work in daytime, then I get lots of false alarms with flies at night. Re the app and playback, can we have multi-speed playback options, and the ability to lock sections of footage to be kept. I caught someone wacking a bag against my car with it. Couldn’t easily protect or download the motion video. Installation is not straightforward because you will need a very large hole in wall to pass cable assembly through.
Absolutely incredible motion detection. Really reliable. It's replaced our doorbell.
Although not being PoE is a bit of a pain on an outdoor camera, this is an excellent piece of gear and Fantastic value. The motion detection is just incredible, better than any of the other cameras I bought to try out. I have not yet installed one outdoors but appreciate that they included tools, template and plugs to so this.
If this was PoE it would be the most incredible camera ever. I don’t really understand why it has ethernet without using it for power. The WiFi signal on it is great on it.
Honest review
This camera is exceptional for the price. We have 2 and must say they are really good! The picture is crystal clear and we invest a little more (approx 5 per month) to perfect the motion detector. It is the AI function which you need to pay for separately however it works without it too but withkut it you get notifications for rain drops and flys which quickly gets annoying. The sound function is not great on our ones it could just be the Wi-Fi signal on our way up but both cameras only pick up some of what we say through the app when holding the button. For the price we were not really to upset by this. We were not expecting much but we’re very happily surprised by the amazing return for investment. We feel much more secure.
Great camera with good resolution. Easy installation & yes you can talk to people through it too!
Used as security camera.
Nice neat cameras. Easy to set up. Easy to use. Good resolution on playback. Easy retrieval of clips. Records when it hears something as well as sees something. There is a slight delay on recording though.
Vision and sound very good – much better than the fish eye lens effects of the doorbell cameras – and yes you can talk through this camera (if you want to)
Great night vision. Be careful to try to shelter it a bit or it will record rain flashing past the lens.
Its even easy to get it to not acknowledge the bit of view that always has the tree waving about in the way too.
I like these cameras & would definitely recommend them. I would get another if I could get my wifi to reach as far as I need it to.
Very easy to setup and good quality
I got this to keep an eye on my front door and driveway.
What an excellent piece of kit. I was a little apprehensive when I found I had to download an app to set it up as quite often the apps are rubbish, fail to connect and generally a pain to use. Not so with the Netvue. It could not have been easier. It connected to the server/camera in about 15 seconds and I could see the image clearly straight away. There is about a 1.5 seconds lag between real life and the image you see on the mobile. I manually ran a Firmware update and this worked flawlessly as well.
I have mounted this on the soffit of my house looking down at the driveway. My only gripe (and this is not a fault of the product) is that you have to drill quite a big hole to fit the Ethernet connector through. The alternative would be to mount a small waterproof box on the wall and then terminate the cables in that, but to be honest it’s not the end of the world.
The microphone is very sensitive and the audio quality is pretty good. We have a street light close by and this means I haven’t checked how good the night vision is in complete darkness, but with the street light on you can see everything.
For the amount this costs, I am very surprised how good it is and so simple to setup and configure.
The only thing I haven’t mentioned, the built quality, mainly metal. It’s quite heavy and looks like it is built to last…. time will tell.
Easy and better than expected
Bought the Netvue camera after looking at lots of others and loads of reviews. It is dead easy to install and worked first time following the clear instructions. Upgraded the firmware, which is pretty automatic.
The camera shows very clear wide angle images by day in full colour and equally clear images at night in black and white. There is a time delay when watching on my phone but that is to be expected with all devices of this type. It was equally easy to pair it with Alexa but the results are less satisfactory. Pretty sure this is down to less than perfect wifi to the Alexa Show though. I may add a repeater to see if that improves matters.
I’m not using motion detection yet because I wanted this primarily to be able to see who is at the front door, so I cannot comment on that.
In summary, this is a great camera for the money and I may well buy more in future.

Fantastic Camera
I have purchased quite a few types of camera through out the years but these are the best.
Everything that you need to fit the cameras and make the power connections safe.
Very easy to install the Micro SD card.
Easy to setup within Android, Alexa, Windows PC, Just need to setup within Android TV.
Some individuals have complained about the software but everyone wants something different especially if you have used software from another camera.
Software has allot of support and help details when left tab.
Cameras can be setup individually with in Motion Detention & General settings.
Sleep Mode, Sleep Mode Schedule.
Motion Alert is fantastic. Received through Alexa Show units, Android phones both wifi and mobile data.
There allot more.
The zoom in is great, we can identify types of birds at the bottom of the garden and you can take snapshot through live viewing or recordings from both notifications and manual recordings.
The sound is also very good and when you want to speak all you need to do is press and hold the microphone icon.
Motion Detections has area on and off options, sensitivity and finally scheduling when you want it on and off.
Collective setup is that good we are looking to change our current internal camera’s and doorbell to Netvue.
Very Happy
Used to cover our back garden, really clear picture, with good night vision. Bit of a give away if you want a discreet camera as the lens has a ring of infrared lights around it, which light up at night.
The App works well on your phone and is easy to set up, with notifications when there is any movement, This can be turned on and off and set for time periods. You do need to subscribe for this service though… (a free 10 day period is given upon registration)
With out the registration, you just get to view live with the app and record to memory card when movement is detected.
All in all a very good product.

Great surveillance camera. It blew away all of my expectations. For the price you can’t find something better.
I have the habit of leaving my shoes in front of the door and even if i live in a good neighbourhood my favourite Timberlands got stolen. After that I realised that there were some other pairs of shoes I don’t remember seeing lately so i had decided to buy this camera.
It is aluminium with a plastic coating, feels really sturdy.
What I like:
– microsd card means you can record and watch directly;
– has a speaker and a microphone and the sound quality is good;
– motion sensor works brilliantly and sends a notification on your phone instantly;
– app works like a charm.
All in all I regret not buying more but will definitely pay attention to further deals on this camera and other netvue cameras.

Excellent CCTV camera at super price
After a neighbour had a break-in we decided to put in CCTV. I didn’t want the hassle of a DVR setup with wires everywhere and opted for these based on camera resolution, features and other reviews. We also bought two indoor NEOS cameras. These outdoor ones are brilliant, super clear pictures, you can zoom in on the app and it continously records to SD card and you can play back footage on the app, the NEOs ones (not sure if same company but packaging suspiciously similiar and arrived in same amazon box?) are equally good in many ways but don’t record continously. I would give 5 stars but for 2 reasons, 1 they should offer an indoor option as I would use instead of Neos and secondly the cable could be longer for power and I am not sure what we are supposed to do with the white cables? I know what they are for but they dangle once installed and are too short to do anything with, they will sit outside the property, are they weather proof we don’t know but have taped them up using duct tape and wrapped them in plastic to the eaves of the house, this feels like it could be improved without much effort. Oh and the red lights at night time are fab – I want potential burglars to see the CCTV and they would! Would definitely buy again!

Really good value for money
I have since purchased another of these cameras as I was truly pleased with the quality and relative ease of set up.
I had an existing camera which was useless and kept dropping off the network. It also didn’t have a SD Card slot so I’m really glad I got rid of it.
In terms of set up, I would say that itwas really easy ( but I do work in IT!). Quite honestly, the app walks you through it all step by step and the written instructions were good too. Only hiccup I had was getting the SD card to mount after formatting. It just took a bit longer than I expected so I was probably just being impatient. No problems with over-sensitivity although I have turned it down and the fact that you can choose exclusion zones is really helpful. I hope it continues to work as well in the long term!
Easy set up and very clear pictures.
What I really liked about this Camera was the ease of the set up. I am not IT savy at all but the instructions are clear and within moments it was connected to the wifi and the motion detection working through the app I had down loaded . Usually things like this go wrong for me but this was simple . It still works too (there has been real rain here )showing very clear pictures in the day in colour and excellent clarity at night . It’s a impressive piece of kit when you see it , properly made by the looks. I bought mind to watch the wild life by patio door , particularly the foxes in the night that come for left over dog food. When your away from the house it alerts you of motion and you can view from wherever you are. My 21 year old had a fright when having a cigarette, as I could speak to him through the microphone and I was miles away ! He jumped , we did laugh. Lots of choices in settings I haven’t explored yet. Well worth the money too . We love it .
AWESOME LITTLE CAMERA
Fantastic camera it really is it’s very easy to set up once set up with the app you can then manage everything on the app the video is very clear for the daytime and just as clear for the nighttime you will not b disappointed with this it will do all you want you can view your house or whatever you r recording from anywhere so you allways keep an eye on what’s going on . It arrived the next day and never took much time to put up , I would recommend you get the male to female lead if the camera is going to b situated sum way away from a power point . Al in all a great little camera for the money.
Perfect picture and great sound
I have decided to try it indoors before using outside. Been fun watching what my cute little kitty gets upto when I’m not in the room. With patience it took a while to connect to WiFi. Suggest you keep still as it will connect quicker. Next thing is position and angles quite easy to do as you are provided with a little key. Make sure you lock into place. I tried out the speaker it’s really good and I took a couple of screenshot day and night vision. Picture is really clear and focused. Will update once I put outside but I think it will be fine
Only issue I had was finding the correct app but I had a live chat with support and they sent me the link. Excellent service. I’m going to order another one for the back of the house.
Great Value
Product was easy to install. A long length of wire from plugtop power supply to plug to fit into socket on camera trailing lead made it especially easy. The camera trailing leads were also reasonably long. Be aware if wishing to put wires through wall before connecting that a reasonably large hole (approx. 16mm) required to get the ethernet connector through – but that’s a feature of the standard connector not the fault of the camera. The ability to scroll through recorded video also seems good as one can select the ‘granularity’ of the scroll period between 1 min and 2 hrs on the App, allowing a quick view. On that note, the app seems well designed too, with no adverts either 🙂 The motion detection seems a little too ready to pick up rain blowing past the lens with the IR night vision on – but I think that would be an issue with any motion detection other than full AI (which I believe is offered if one pays for the online storage rather than local SD).
The value of the whole product cannot be faulted.

Not perfect, but still good value for money.
PROS:
Easy to install and set-up. I took the wired LAN route to reduce any potential network issues that can arise with wireless devices.
Night mode works very well. Nice and clear.
Alert feature is great. I like the ability to control which camera zones can be excluded from alerts.
Camera is well made and looks like it’ll last through the seasonal weather changes. Time will tell, of course.
Instructions are well written and easy to follow.
CONS:
My main gripe is the camera isn’t yet compatible with Google Assistant. The Netvue service does link to Google Home, but Netvue have yet to add functionality to allow voice control streaming over Google Home devices such as Chromecast – it would be great to stream a camera feed to my TV or other Google displays I own. I have many smart devices of different manufacturers linked to my Google Home and they all work brilliantly with Google’s Assistant, so not sure why Netvue have concentrated solely on Amazon’s assistant. Especially since Google have a collosal and ever-growing user-base.
Other minor gripe is the frame rate when streaming appears to be low. Despite having excellent network conditions and a good 1080p image stream, the video stream is not smooth. I couldn’t find mention in the documentation of the actual frame rate, but my guess is it’s around 20fps. Like I say, it’s only a minor gripe, as I remind myself the camera is one of the cheapest on the market.

Smart Home Camera with Two Way Audio & Alex Show Compatible
This is an incredible piece of kit for the price.
I was very surprised at how good the quality was, the build of the camera itself the, instructions and the accessories. Having been initially a little confused by the various connections and tech speak, I was pleasantly surprised at how straightforward the process of fitting and set up turned out to be.
Included in the box are not only the camera and cables but a mounting template, screws and plugs, masonry drill and Allen key for adjustment. At first, I was confused as to what the power cable consisted of and how this would be routed to the camera. Turns out that this is the easiest part. Power is supplied by a 3m long low voltage bell wire style cable which can be easily routed through small hole or through a window. (mine simply passes through the window)
I guess that, like most people, Wi-Fi is the preferred connection method. In this case there’s no need to drill a large hole for the ethernet cable and it is only the small low voltage power cable that you will need to provide access for.
I was almost dreading the setup but it turns out again that this was surprisingly simple. Everything is done via the app which quickly takes you through the set up procedure intuitively.
The app connects itself to the camera, you simply need to follow the online instructions. From there onwards everything is done via the app which again is excellent quality and includes online help.
As you will have seen from other reviews, the video quality is excellent and certainly more than enough for a home security camera.
Setting up to view on Amazon Echo Show was again very simple and worked first time. Having the ability to view the camera on Echo Show is an added bonus.
My only real criticism would be the description on Amazon doesn’t really make it clear this can be used simply as a Wi-Fi device and doesn’t need the Ethernet cable.
Good quality camera, easy to use, no POE or web viewing, only through images only through phone app
I bought this camera for home security but it was immediately co-opted by the boss for her lambing cam.
She is now looking at her phone every 2 hours through the night instead of stomping out in nightdress and wellies. She uses the voice call to bother the sheep and make them look around so she can see they haven’t dropped dead (favorite sheep pastime). I have now inadvertently promoted this camera to many ‘Ladies that Lamb’ who also don’t like wondering around at 4 am to check on their beloved flocks
Mine is connected by Ethernet almost 100mtr on Cat 6 and it is a shame that POE is not supported as it would have made for a tidier/easier install.
The IR is excellent and we had a clear monochrome view of the sheep pen despite it being pitch black in the barn. The audio is good enough that we could converse when she was in the barn albeit with a second or two delay. The mount is solid and even comes with an allen key to adjust which is a nice touch as it the weather proof cover for your ethernet cable (which you can only add if you make your own cables)
The camera struggles to show a colour image even during the day in the dimly lit barn but the mono image is sharp and in bright light the image is good. You can zoom into the image on te phone app but the resolution falls off pretty fast as this is only 1080.
I successfully got the image to work with Alexa on my TV firestick but a bit of a faff to launch the skill then view the camera so not of great interest to me . I was disappointed that there is no option to view on a pc or to embed on a web page, only via the app (although a web app is promised). The android app i used is pretty good however and it is all very easy to set up and use. No instructions with the camera AT ALL but good website and it appears they have good customer service but I haven’t needed it yet! I would like to try a PTZ version if they produce one.
I have now got two more of them to guard the farmyard as they are currently just under 24 which is a bargain so I will try out the motion detection and update my review. I have an SD card for it now so will try and share some images.
Fab for the price, does a great job
Bought one of these on my brother’s recommendation for the front of the garage and drive and liked it so much we got another for the garden. Super easy to set up and delivers alerts direct to my phone. The audio is unbelievable for the price, clear as a bell and works both ways. Honestly can’t fault this especially as we got it when it was on offer. You need to play about with the sensitivity to decidethe alerts you want and just test out your wifi with your phone in the site you’re planning to put the camera. Other than that no issues.
Great camera but buyer beware
Great camera for the price and easy to set up following the app instructions. Only fault I have with the camera is at night when the infra red lights are used, if it rains or snows any drops falling close to the camera activates the motion alert. When viewing the alert it comes up as a long white streak across the picture. It’s because the infra red lights are next to the lens. I was going to buy a separate infra red light and mount it away from the camera to stop the false motion alerts. But I found that when you switch off the camera lights the camera cannot pick up infra red light from another source. So unless you mount the camera under an overhang which shelters the camera from rain or snow, then you are going to get a lot of false alerts. Netvue said they now have an update that differentiates human movement from animals or weather etc. This system is only available if you subscribe to their cloud recording service. Also if you find the live view you see at night is cloudy as if the lens had fog on it, it means the camera is too close to a surface which is reflecting light from the infra red lights back onto the lens. You will have to tilt or move the camera. Great camera though and I bought a second one for my drive.
WARNING – since my first review Netvue have started to promote their cloud subscription service by stopping access to SD card motion alerts, stopping you checking what caused the alert as you try to go back in time to check what was recorded. They are doing this every few months by inserting a promotional screen about their cloud service when you try to go to the screen which allows you to go back in time and view events. At the top of the screen there is an option to just go to the sd card as normal, but when you tap this, another screen pops up telling you the memory card needs formatted ( which it doesn’t). If you try to format the card which will delete all video saved on it, it then comes up that the card mount failed.
I just power down the camera and leave it 24 hours. Sometimes it clears the promotional screen and goes back to normal working – sometimes it doesn’t and I power it down again. So if your house is broken into or property damaged etc you will not be able to go back the cameras recordings to see what happened or view the burglars.
This is not acceptable to me from Netvue. If I want to subscribe to the cloud service I would, but I do not like being bullied by having my camera made incapable of checking sd card recordings because they want to promote and try to force you into taking out a subscription. What’s the point of buying these products if they are rendered useless by the company. Will they pay for any loss or damage to my property because they switched off the capability to record to my sd card ?
Customer services just keep telling people that their sd card is faulty and needs replaced – lies. After I got my camera working again by powering it down several times over 48 hrs, the card worked fine. I have two cameras which go down at the same time so this is not an sd card issue. It’s Netvue bullying you into taking out a monthly subscription. I will not be buying any more of their products and I am looking to other camera manufacturers to replace my Netvue cameras. Shocking way to treat customers. You have been warned.
Good quality, so good I bought a second one!
For the price this is a superb camera. The primary use for it is to go innthe garage. Granted, I currently have nothing to protect only bins and a ton of chippings but maybe one day it will protect something of value lol
We have power in the garage so I used Ethernet mini connectors and hooked it up directly to the home hub. I was unsure if this would work but it connected within seconds of scanning the QR Code. Apparently if the power in the garage works off the same circuit board this will work.
I will purchase a cheap SD card and install it this weekend. I’m led to believe if you have an SD card in it will loop video which is fine for me as I already pay a subscription for RING. Delivery was fast from Amazon. Had it a few weeks now but only now installed. For the price, well worth purchasing.
I have attached a picture of the garage on night vision for you to see the quality. Apologies for the mess in there LOL
EDIT :- It’s been a few months now since I bought the first camera, I was so impressed with the quality that I bought a second camera for outside the garage, using the WiFi. It does lag a bit but is capturing all the images it should, when it’s windy the microphone can get noisy but for 29.99 with a voucher on offer on amazon these are a bargain. If you need a cheap option just for piece of mind that works with Alexa, on your phone and has a memory card slot. These are the cameras for you. Will deffo purchase more from Netvue in the future.
Very Impressed
Bought 2 of these to provide video coverage of the back of my house. I was really impressed with the setup, to pair each camera took about 10 mins in all. The mounting and adjusting to a while longer but that was more to do with running a power supply outside. What i did find good that the camera came with all screws, wall plugs, a masonry drill bit and a hex key to adjust the direction of the camera. Adjusting was easy so as to get the perfect angle and rotation. What has impressed me the most though is the picture quality., it is really clear, with good audio and even when a long way from my broadband router the wifi connection is always there. The Alexa connection is super simple to set up so i can now see footage on my Echo show via voice command. One area of improvement needs to be on the motion detection, it was way too sensitive and i keep getting mobile phone alerts when there is no real movement. But overall I have to say a great purchase, and highly recommended.
Good camera
Literally set my two cameras up today.
They are inside looking out the window until I can get them fixed to the wall outside.
Picture is great!
Night vision looks good only right now I am having glare issues due to them being inside looking out through the window.
Motion detector is picking up on everything!
Had a few difficulties when setting up the first camera but the customer support on the live chat were very good and got me sorted within minutes.
Hoping this camera continues to live up to its very good first impressions.
All Good - Easy to Set up and just works..
After researching I went for this Netvue CCTV Wifi Camera. Quite impressed – Easy to up-set to connect to Wifi using the IOS App and the barcode on the Camera. Pictures are good and the motion detection works well. Good Night Vision over our driveway.
Following the success of setting this one up, I immediately purchased a 2nd Camera for the rear of our property both now working good. Still working my way around all the various settings possible including Motion Detection Sensitivity, and Motion areas … all seem easy & simple. The Camera, also, unbelievably comes with Allen Key, Mounting Template, Mounting Screws, Masonry Drill, and Rawlplugs… everything one needs – very unusual and makes life much simpler to use ‘from box’ – thanks Netvue – will purchase an internal Camera soo
Best purchase
Super thrilled with this camera. Purchased two of them, one for the front door and one in the back garden. It was super easy to set up and install. As I am often away because of work I thought this would come in very handy. Specially in the back garden where the motion detector reacts immediately and pops up on my phone.
The night vision is also really clear as I don’t have the light on in the back garden but can still see clear.
Makes me feel more relaxed knowing the house is save when I am away for business.
Also what I think is great is that you can talk over the camera. Saw the postman delivering a package as the motion alerted me, was able to tell him to please drop it off at the neighbours.
Can definitely recommend this and looking at purchasing one for inside the house.
Great investment.
Better instructions needed
Great camera for the price. Difficult to setup as it only works with 2.4ghz wifi. This means if you have s 5.0ghz WiFi you will need to change the setting on your router. The motion detection is poor and you will not receive alerts as stated in description. The cloud subscription is too expensive, so you best buy an SD card. Make sure you insert the SD card before installing the camera. I also recommend setting up the app before installing the camera on the wall as the app reauires scanning the barcode which is located underneath the actual unit. Otherwise the picture quality is fantastic and the night vision works really well.

Good value Camera
This is the first outdoor camera I have bought. It’s fairly easy to install, and picture quality is good. The Amazon Echo function is useful, you can get your Echo’s to notify when motion is detected and view the live feed on an Echo Show. The motion detection works when someone goes within about 4m to 5m of the camera, so although I can view the whole length of my drive, I’m not alerted until someone comes closer. Overall I’m very pleased with this.
Excellent picture, Alexa connection iffy
This camera is great value. The app works just fine and does what it needs to and there is the ability to add other users. I’ve only put it down at 4 stars as I connection with Alexa to stream the video on my Show 5 was difficult (but working fine now) and the initial connection setup with the app was a bit iffy (had to repeat it a few times). However, for the money, I cannot really complain and picture quality is great. I’ve added a 128gb SD card so I don’t have to sign up to the cloud service. Video downloads are easy.
A great outdoor camera
I already own two of the netvue indoor cameras, so when this was on a special offer I had no hesitation in buying it. As with the indoor versions set up is dead easy as long as you follow the idiot proof step by step instructions. The installation kit provides a drill bit, rawlplugs and a self adhesive drilling guide. Installation took about half an hour and then a little bit of adjusting to get the perfect camera angle by using the 3 Allen key adjusters.
The picture quality is great both day and night and gives you a little extra piece of mind when you are away. The motion detection takes a little while to set up with the sensitivity and timing, but is well worth the effort.
Netvue products are easy to set up and offer great quality at a very reasonable price, I think it’s only a matter of time before I get another outdoor camera for the front of our home.
Netvue outdoor camera - Great camera for price
This is my second Netvue outdoor camera, so I must like them. I am also thinking of getting a third, as my girlfriend seems to have taken my second one!!!
My own personal opinion is that these are relatively easy to set up and install, and easy to use via the app. A great camera for the price, and so far, hasn’t let me down, so I am very pleased with it.
Picture quality is pretty good, and excellent night vision, which for me is very important. I searched a LONG time for a camera that offered these features for the right price. Happy customer! 🙂
Incredible value for money!
Purchased this camera as a replacement for a duff YCAM which cost over 3 times as much some years ago!
First impressions after playing with it for a day….
Setting up the WiFi connection was straightforward, and the NetVue app discovered the device without a problem. All of the features on the camera worked flawlessly including night vision, motion detection and SD card recording. I also hooked it up to ALEXA successfully, but don’t have a device to show the video on (Yet!)
The camera came with a set of screws and rawlplugs, plus an allen key to allow mounting and adjustment, as well as a cover for a prepared ethernet cable if used externally (I’m not, if used inside I assume I can just connect a normal ethernet cable).
The SD card was easy to install, but needs to be formatted while in the camera after installing. Netvue do not give any info on the format, but I guess it will be FAT32 or NTFS. However there is no way to stop recording except by pulling out the power plug, which seems a bit brutal, the app should provide for this to prevent file corruption (I did try disconnecting power, the SD card seemed OK and successfully re-mounted on restoring power.
All in all a very nice device at a low cost which so far has worked flawlessly and does what it says on the tin!
Easy to setup & use, good peace of mind whilst away
Two camera’s purchased & in use – bought before Christmas as I’d be away for ~1 week.
The setup & use of this product is very intuitive. It has a high degree of adjustability meaning you can orientate exactly as required and then fix into position using the provided Allen key. Recommend buying a 25mm drill bit to allow you to ‘hide’ the cable (this hole size is required to fit the LAN cable attachment through a wall) behind the camera rather than having it exposed as I currently do (planning to update this soon).
Finally, using the camera’s daily through the App is very easy, motion detection works very well and is immediate so I can playback the footage from an alert through the stored data on the Micro SD (inserted in the camera) through my phone via the Wifi.
Only minor issue found so far is that one SD Card (of two) wouldn’t ‘mount’ meaning it required manually reformatting on my PC but was soon sorted and have had no further issues with it.
Great quality easy to use
Was easy to set up, compact and once you get the hang of it it is easy to use. I thought in my case the 2.4 ghz wifi would be a disadvantage compared to 5ghz wifi, but not so as the the range of the 2.4ghz was better, did have trouble connecting to a wifi extender, did away with that so eliminated the problem. For me a longer detection zone would have been better but overall i am really impressed with its performance so far. I would also suggest you install a 128gb micro sd memory card as it operates 24/7 and will delete your recordings in a loop once the sd card is full, guess it uses 4gb a day?
Straight Forward Setup and Good Quality Picture
The camera was delivered quickly and I found the instructions easy to follow. I used a wired connection and downloaded the app from Google Play Store (scanning the QR code in the instructions did not work for some reason) and it found the camera straight away. The picture quality is excellent both in day and night and motion detection works really well. In fact too well and I had to shorten the detection area. Response time was fair and possibly slightly faster than the ring doorbell which I have on wifi. The sound quality is good but it is easy to get feedback and you have to turn the volume down on the phone in order to correct this. My Camera is mounted quite high up and so talking to visitors is not that practical but my prime aim for buying the camera was to use for cctv. The fixing kit consists of a drill bit, rawl plugs and an allen key for tightening the camera positioning/angle. The camera does come with an SD slot but I have not used this yet but am just using the cloud storage free trial. Overall impressed with the product and happy with purchase.
Overall pleased, good VFM
Like others I have been incentivised to write this review, but I will be honest.
Overall pleased so far. Easy to set up and looks well made. App was easy to install, I was initially concerned that the field of view was quite narrow and wasn’t 110 Deg, but eventually noticed it was just the way the image feed was cropped in portrait view in the app, in landscape it showed the full view. Although my indoor nest was wider at 130, there isn’t too much difference I need to be concerned about. Have connected to Alexa and it works flawlessly. Only minor negative was the instructions that say skip step 4 unless you are wiring in to Ethernet. I would suggest that you carry most of step 4 with the included parts to weatherproof the Ethernet connector (unless I missed something). Overall I bought this for 100 less than the Nest outdoor camera. Thus value for money seems excellent. As long as the support and servers remain robust, it should be good.
Good camera, well designed app, no annoying cloud service ads!
It took me a while to choose this camera is it will be a gift for my elderly parents, so it had to be easy to use. The reason I chose it is that the app is excellent, easy to use, clear English with video tutorials if you need them. Tip: read the reviews of the app and Alexa skill before you buy any web camera!
The camera body is OK, mostly plastic so will either fall apart or last until the next millennium. The picture is surprisingly good, particularly the night vision. Fresh rate is occasionally a bit sluggish but that could be my WiFi connection.
I’ve installed a 32GB MicroSD which it defaulted to and there are no annoying ads so far to sign up to a cloud service. Recording appears to be continuous but easy to scroll back to a motion alert.
It also works very well with Alexa – it’s really cool to be able to say ‘show me the garden’.
Yet to check how easy it is to share video clips etc but overall impression very good.
Good value for money
The product was easy to set up and install. The step by step instructions were really simple and easy to follow. Once you set it up, decide on where you want to mount it. It’s helpful if there are two of you – one to position the camera and the other person to check if the image or angle is where you want it. The three shorter cables coming out of the back are a bit of an eyesore, but if you pop them in aa waterproof cover, it doesn’t look too bad. Both day and night images are really clear and the sound perfect. The motion detection is good – be careful you don’t mount the camera too close to plants that may set off the detection in the wind! However, you can get around this by deselecting certain areas in the motion detection zone.
A really great product that suits our needs perfectly – will definitely be buying another one!
Recommended - make sure you have a reliable connectio
After having this up a week I thought I’d give it a review.
For the camera to work reliably it needs a strong WiFi connection or wired (obviously). Before buying a powerline WiFi repeater, which I placed directly behind the wall, I was getting around 60% reception. Now I’m getting 97% and it’s working flawlessly. That means no lag starting the video when opening the app and no drop in connection.
Motion is so so. I’ve just woken up and have 19 notifications because of the rain. The software is supposed to ignore the ‘useless’ motion but clearly it needs some work.
The cloud motion video is pointless and a waste of money. Don’t opt for it. It has a good fallback whereby you can just store a still image. Underneath the image is a button to your 24/7 continuous video history.
I didn’t realise the camera recorded continuously so finding that out was a pleasant surprise. It means with a 128gb SD Card this is a very good camera without the need for cloud storage.
Fitting: I just rang the power cable through the wall. The cable arrangement isn’t the best. There are three wires all junctioned off of one another. The Enternet cable has a clumpy weatherproof shroud making it very difficult to put through a brick wall. The rawl plugs that come with it are garbage.
Night vision and picture quality are great.
Support: There is a Live Chat option which is great. There’s also a user forum too.
I would recommend this camera but just make sure it has a reliable connection.
Excellent, easy to use with great picture, buying another for rear of property.
Excellent camera that’s perfect for the price and does the job amazingly.
The box comes with everything required to set yourself up with an adequate day/night vision security system that you can rely on to get the job done.
The app, is easy and intuitive and literally took me less than five minutes to get up and running.
Depending where you install the camera you may need to purchase a power extension lead…. I bought the one down in the comments section but didn’t need it in the end as what came in the box was long enough.
The camera is excellent design that will no doubt weather the elements and the instructions were easy to follow… Even for someone like me who is terrible at DIY.
Very pleased with the camera and will buy another one for the rear of my property as the app used can have multiple cameras operational.
Simple step to home security
Was looking for a cost effective way to get a security camera on the back of the garage that didn’t take a lot of faff when setting up. Ring and Arlo look good, but couldn’t justify the cost seeing as how I wanted just one camera to keep an eye on things.
Ordered the Netvue Vigil 1080p camera, and was not disappointed. From box to installed and connected to Alexa within half an hour or so. I’m not an expert by a long shot, but this came under my skill set. Really impressed by the motion sensor setup so you control what sets it off. Also impressed by the timer function to allow you to set the times it comes on so you don’t get distracted by too many notifications (neighbour’s cats were setting it off at all hours of the day). Night vision as you can see by the photo (taken during hailstone shower) is very good.
Very pleased with my purchase and will probably look to purchase another at a later date.

Good quality camera at low price
I am using this camera to keep an eye on the back garden of the house. Delivery was quick, set-up was simple and the camera came with all necessary tools – drill hole marker, allen key and drill bit as well.
The video quality is good with good motion detection. It was picking up rain drops and leaves falling. Now that I have reduced the sensitivity, i am not getting alerts on small movement of leaves etc. Night vision is also great. I would have preferred a way for it to pan but this is not something that was advertised so its ok. Also, I would have liked for a way to specify my own cloud storage.
Overall a good camera for outdoor security
Excellent!
These cameras are excellent!! I did lots of research before buying this and they had good reviews. I thought well if it didn’t work it wasn’t that expensive. I have to say I am so pleased with this! The motion detection is brilliant and responsive. So easy to set up and the quality is brilliant. Far superior to the Ezviz ones I have used. Much more responsive and easy to set up and WAY CHEAPER! You do have to put an SD card in to record or sign up for the cloud storage but realistically if you were to pay for expensive CCTV cameras you would have to pay a lot of money for this anyway so in reality the cloud really isn’t that bad. You also have to pay for cloud for each individual camera. Hopefully soon they will set up a multiple device cloud storage purchase. As soon as they do this I will be buying! You can view the cameras live without signing up to any storage or buying an SD card from the app but you wont be able to record the footage so bare this in mind. Gives me peace of mind when I’m not home and now I wouldn’t be without them. The only reason I give this 4 stars is because of the storage issue with multiple devices not being available.
A good security camera for a very reasonable price.
This is the first security camera I have ever purchased and I really am very pleased with the one I chose. Next day delivery, and on opening, my first impression was of good quality. It is very sturdily built and came with all necessary information to get it installed and working. Once installed, with the help of the enclosed instruction booklet and the app. (which is downloaded onto iPhone or iPad) you get really excellent pictures, both night and day, of the area covered by the camera. Signals, via iPhone or iPad, inform you of motion in the area covered. A nice feature is you can tailor the picture the camera sees to stop that area picking up motion. Very handy for moving traffic if your camera is sighted near a road. I found the camera easy to set up and am very impressed with the result. Will be purchasing another one soon.
So much more than a security camera....
Ordered 2 cameras, one for the front garden and another for the rear garden.
Being perfectly honest, I want the front camera to detect when my teenagers get home after clubbing to stop me getting up numerous times in the early hours to check whether they’re home or not! A motion detection alarm will be a godsend.
The rear camera is to track the dog in the very dark, large back garden. Our dog is deaf so we can’t call him in and we simply wait and wait for him to come back. This way we can see when he’s at the back door instead.
I was pleasantly surprised to see how well equipped the cameras are. They came with templates for drilling holes, drill bits, caps for unused connections and even a small Allen key to adjust the angle of the cameras. The set up is a breeze using the QR scanner and I got 2 cameras up and running within 20 minutes (including connecting to Alexa).
I’m absolutely delighted, picture quality is great day/night and best of all I got them in the Amazon Lightning Deals too. Will be buying more to extend my home security.
Great Camera for the price
Bought one of these for the back of the house. arrived in great time and was dead easy to set up. our router is 30ft away from the camera , but it still works without issue. The app was easy to set up and it works easily with Alexa. We hoped to have it on our google hub, but unfortunately this is not available yet. I have been assured that they are working on this.
I have now bought an additional camera for the front of the house.
Given the number of similar cameras on Amazon, for under 50 quid, it might seem quite a claim that this one is the best.
As I wanted the best system I could find to support 3 of the same cameras, I wanted to get it right first time, and so put the research in.
Many hours of research to be honest, which also included sending a camera back as it didn’t turn out to be worthy.
I don’t want to harp on about other stuff already stated, as this is generally a good camera in light of existing reviews.
I would however like to underline aspects that stood out for me but that have not generally be underlined by other reviewers.
1) It turns out Netvue is a good and respected camera company.
Looking at most of the other cameras in this price bracket, many seemed to me obviously Chinese devices marketed half heartedly for the UK market. Device descriptions on Amazon written in very bad “Chineseglish” just didn’t inspire personally confidence as to the installation and post installation support for many cameras. The Chinese are amazing people and their electronics generally superb, but it does surprise me when they cannot find someone to translate a mass marketed ad for the uk market into crystal clear English. I feel it says a lot in terms of the product support and quality you will receive (which proved true with the first flimsy feeling camera I ordered and sent back).
Many of the reviews for these items are also for devices not matching the actual item being sold.. That is also a bit worrying.
This Netvue camera is easy to install, with a concise and simple quick installation manual, but the Jewell in the Crown really is the instant 24 hour online help chat..
It is really fabulous and a massive help. Not only with installation issues, but anything else too..
I wanted to set my system up to the very best possible level, and so used them a lot.. They were really great 🙂
2) The app is actually very good indeed.
This has been occasionally criticised in reviews, so I was expecting clunky and maybe unreliable. I’m pleased to say that it is in fact straightforward and simple. Once set up, you can share the app with others in your household. They download the app, create an account linked to their email, then you type their email in the “share” section of the app. It then immediately allows them full viewed access to the camera and motion events, but not settings..
Perfect 🙂
3) Motion alerts..
These are a useful feature, but you really cannot be too idealistic about the quality. Movement can be anything from Tiddles next door peeing on your lawn again (thats a cat not the house owner, although I wouldn’t put it past him either), to rain, to insects, to moving webs or to (rather less commonly, thankfully) a house breaker in a balaclava.
Unfortunately, false alerts are more common at night, as the infrared lightens up anything that moves. Raindrops become long white bolts, and any headlight (for example) straying into the field of vision will cause a motion event.
The app does have a square grid view of the camera field of vision where you can shut down small sections of the detection field if those areas are prone to false alerting. You can also change the motion detection sensitivity from 1% up to 100%..
Despite this, motion is motion and false alerts are still more common than actual people coming within the range however you set it up.
This however afflicts all motion enabled cameras and tweaking a little (and maybe finding a gentle notification sound for it, or even turning the volume off) helps you keep this feature on, be tolerant to it and also find it useful.
Viewing all captured alerts maybe a couple of times a day and, deleting those that are obviously false works for me. You actually receive a still low pixel photo with the alert which uses little data if away from WiFi. Click on any that have a person in them (thankfully if a person caused the alert, they will be in the still.. they always are), and it downloads a bigger 5 second video file for you to view.
It is useful if set up right, but don’t expect people/intruder alerts in the main.
4) Camera quality really is excellent. Clearly well manufactured and gives confidence it would survive attack testing well.
5) Cloud storage? Hmmm… I would forget that, but it’s there if you want it. You do get 14 days free, but after that its an eye watering 70 dollars a year (gone up by 20 dollars in the last 3 months)!!!
Put a decent “endurance” video class sd card in it instead and mounting the camera as high as possible will be fine. Please keep in mind that if someone can easily reach the camera, they can potentially dismount it and run off with it along with any evidence of them doing so there on the enclosed sd card.
The cloud storage is just not worth it in my mind, as pressing the rewind button on the real time video screen opens a timeline by which you can scroll back for as long at the sd card installed allows.. Exactly as the cloud storage would give you anyway.
Also note that endurance sd cards should only be used as they are manufactured for constant video record devices. Anything cheap will not last long, and you’ll be taking your camera down soon to replace it. Each 32 gb of sd storage gives you around 5 days, according to Netvue, but the maximum 128gb endurance (Samsung pro endurance offer the best value) will last the longest, as each mb of storage space will obviously get recorded over less times due to the 20 day storage it offers.
Not cheap (32 g’night on Amazon is around 15), but likely a good economy move and time saver over time. Longer guarantees exist on the bigger memory cards for the same reason.
All in all I am very impressed with this camera and can only think of one issue setting it up…. It can take up to 5 minutes to format a large capacity sd card, as you have to insert the card first, and then format it in the app via WiFi.
The Netvue support talked me through this though, and it was apparent that me expecting it to have completed after a couple of minutes and shutting the app had led to the format failing at first.
Just a tip there, although any issues at all and the Netvue chat support is always there.
I can also view all three of my cameras in my one phone app..
I am really impressed with this camera and you will be too.
Just a little tweak and it's a great security camera
Well I’ve now set it up outside and had tried it on Wi-Fi and on internet cable also as I have a fire stick and Alex’s I did link it to there account on a good note it works well with the app on a good but bad point as I did not adjust my settings but turned on motion detection it was cool for the first half hour how my alexa’s were shaking the house down as all announcing movement detected at the same time so very loud lol have now adjusted motion time just night-time only it says it had AI intelligence but has not detected human and announced just motion detection also I live in a bungalow so not really got the height to go with which have now sore on the box on 100% degree spam where I’m used to 180 wide can’t quite get the whole front line so can’t zoom out anymore to fit the full garden pointing but you know overall all for the price the app it’s pretty good I’m sure it will wear off but it is fun asking the fire stick to show me as I called my camera front of house and it comes up on the screen very futuristic and fun but there again NZ I do love gadgets and I’m a big kid at 52 lol
Unbelievable value for money.
Been wanting an outdoor camera for a while now, so after plenty of research and having a look at my brothers setup (which happened to be netvue, although an older model) I decided on this camera.
When it first arrived I set it up in the kids play room, which took around 10 minutes following the instructions on the app. All I had to do was scan a code and the setup tutorial started.
The camera lived on the play room for a few days due to bad weather. I still got plenty of use out of it watching the kids on my phone and loved how it has 2 way audio, as did the kids.
Camera picture and audio is excellent, night vision is also very impressive (I got the play room in complete darkness with curtains shut and lights off, still excellent picture.)
The camera now lives outside but I miss having one in the home, never thought I’d be interested in an indoor camera but I definately am now.
I have located the camera on the soffit under the guttering outside my bedroom window, this worked out very well as I was able to mount it from the window itself and not start messing about with ladders.
Wiring has gone through the soffit into the loft, then just dropped down into my bedroom though the ceiling as I have a fitted wardrobe. It is then plugged into an extension lead I have in the wardrobe for my TV that also lives in there.
Lead length is decent, and a handy template came with the camera to make fitting that much easier, stuck template on…… Drilled holes…… Fit camera easy.
Best part of this setup for me is the app……. Still exploring it but I have set motion alerts up. Whenever motion is detected I get an alert on my phone. Best part is all motion captures are saved for a month for free………. I can scroll through all the alerts and play them back at my leisure. There is a paid service for full video playback on demand, I’ve not fully looked into it as I am more than happy with the free service.
So all in all I’m a very happy customer, I will be buying another and putting it out the back of the house. Easy to set up, excellent quality, 2 way audio, excellent app and at the price you can’t go wrong. Only down side is the amount of time I spend on it “curtain twitching”.

Great camera great price.
This is the second security camera I have now installed. I found the installation easy and straight forward with a good guide from the ‘app’ and packeted guide. Screws, raw plugs and a drill guide come in the package and they have even included the correct drill bit. Alinement to your chosen capture area is simple using the allen key provided. The picture quality is excellent both day and night vision. I have installed a flash card to record movement and again the setup is straight forward. I am awaiting an Alexa Show to which this camera is reported as easy to setup with, not the case with my first camera. Currently I use my Android phone with no trouble at all. Once you have downloaded the app, there appears to be a lot of help and backup, Netvue look like they take customer relations seriously. The build quality appears excellent and I have no problem in recommending this security camera.
Setting up took a time. But fine now.
I had a lot of trouble setting up the camera. First thing to ensure is that you phone or tablet is on the same WiFi as the one you are setting up the camera to.
I got so fed up with various things going wrong such as the picture freezing that I thought I’ll sort it out tomorrow. The next day I turned it on to find it working fine!
The transmission range is really good. At thirty metres the signals fine! Great picture too!
Good Quality IP Camera
The Camera is of a good quality and solid construction. Had no problems connecting to WiFi using the QR code method as per the instructions. Checked all the functionality which seem to work as designed. Only issue I’ve had so far is the playback from the SD card has sometimes started skipping and missing out from 2 to 5 secs of recording at each skip. Reset the camera and seems OK again for now. I’ve fitted the camera to outside wall and used a small box installed alongside to hide the extra cables meaning only had to drill a small hole to pass the power cable through (Thanks to other reviewers for this suggestion). Will be buying another camera if all still goes well in the next few weeks.
A solid feeling camera with excellent picture quality
This is a well made product, with metal outer and solid feel to it. The box included everything needed including drilling template and even the right drill bit for the provided wall plugs. The instructions were very good, but I also used Google to find the Netvue videos which helped me fit it properly and the Netvue Vigil pdf instruction manual which showed which Allan key screws to adjust for the full range of movement.
The camera was put up quickly, making sure it connected to my Virgin hub whilst indoors, the Netvue app was used to check the wifi signal by holding it outdoors up a ladder. Then I was able to find the best spot and start drilling for the power and then the 3 holes for the camera itself.
Once in, the camera works well. I connected purely by wifi so the extra connector for ethernet cable wasn’t used but as this is a moulded piece of wiring I had to wrap this around the camera base to stop it being unsightly.
The Netvue app is very good with a lot of customisation of motion settings, sensitivity ans volume.
The camera does drop out of wifi so at times I cant see it on my phone, but I’ve found that this doesn’t mean it isn’t working as the camera continues to record to the SD card when not connected to wifi, so nothing is missed.
Overall, I’m very pleased with a professional feeling piece of kit.
Outstanding home security
I’ve currently got a 4 channel camera system, Operating through a DVR unit. 8 wanted something to capture images closer to the ground so opted to purchase this camera.
What I’d say is I’m disappointed I spent so much money on my previous system when I could have bought 5 of these which would have provided a cheaper and better service. There is a clear dependency on network access either through ethernet or WiFi, but as long as that technical capability is in place the system is perfect.
Cameras have excellent build quality and sync so easily with the app. The configuration is simple and digital features are perfect to accommodate home surveillance.
Can’t recommend these cameras enough, already shard with several friends as a must!

Easy to setup and good quality wireless CCTV camera
I bought this as part of the Black Friday deal. It took around 30 mins to install and set up. I Downloaded the Netvue app to my android phone and my iPad. I found the set up pretty easy. There are video tutorials if your unsure as you setup. The motion detection is quite good. There are grids that you tap on to ensure areas you don’t want motion to be exempted saving you the time to view unwanted footage. I’ve installed a 128gb micro card to record the footage. The microphone is very sensitive and picks up voices well.
I’ve also connected it to my Echo Show 5 with no issues. It shows a clear image with sound. I’m very happy with this camera.
Excellent quality and value for money Outdoor Security Camera
This is the latest camera that I have purchased.
I bought 2 for outdoor use, to compliment my indoor cameras.
Pros:
Set up: Easy if you follow the instructions to the letter.
Picture quality: Excellent, even in low light
Cons:
After setting up I lost 2 of my connected Alexas,
I had to go through resetting up the Alexa devices and all good again. I turned off the 2 cameras whilst I did this.
Not sure why this happened.
After powering up cameras after resetting up Alexa devices, all was well.
I checked the IP addresses and all devices had their original IP addresses and the 2 cameras had 2 new IP addresses.
Tip: take a copy of your devices IP address from your router before setting up new devices, then you can review after to see if any new device has a conflict with existing devices.
I am very satisfied with the 2 cameras.
Amazing Camera
Completed installing my first Netvue Outdoor Security Camera. It was a pleasure – quick and effortless. The camera looks and feels quality – well-built and sturdy. Drill template, allen key, screws, wall plugs and even the drill bit are included. The NetVue App camera setup was intuitive and easy, having the camera connected to Wi-Fi, setup and streaming video within minutes.
The picture quality is impressive, both during day and night. Adding the Netvue skill to Alexa, and viewing the camera video were also super-easy.
The only recommendation I would have for the Netvue (iOS) App is the ability to enable / disable the camera microphone. It seems to be always on. Further, in the App the microphone on the iOS device is always enabled whether you keep the microphone soft-button in or not – this is the only bug I found thus far.
Updated: Installed a second Netvue Outdoor Security Camera. Same quality and ease of installation. Will order a third soon!

best cameras for all round security
Only had this camera 2 days but highly recommend it, I have had no trouble setting it up , the daytime picture is great and the night time is as good as your going to get for this sort of money. I like this camera so much Im just about to order 2/3 more to go round my bungalow. I also like the fact that if your wi-fi is a bit iffy you can easily hard wire it with cat 5/6 directly to your router and do away with the wi-fi. The cameras look very well made and every thing you need to install them comes in the box, they are very neat and not too big. I look forward to getting the others and finishing the job of getting some level of security and peace of mind, buy them, you wont get better quality anywhere for this money, 5 stars all round
An Excellent Security Camera!
We have been looking for a security camera for the front of our house for a while. having read the description of the Netvue Vigil and then the reviews it appeared to be exactly what we were looking for – and we were not disappointed! It is a quality camera and the set up really straightforward . Using the app each stage of the set up is clearly explained and supported by a short demonstration video. We didn’t experience any problems. The feed from the camera on the app is very clear in day and night vision. In fact we were so impressed we’ve ordered another one for the rear of our property. Highly recommended.
After using the cameras for a couple of days the motion alert stopped working so I contacted Netvue by email via the app. One of their technical advisers, Kris, got back to me and was able to sort the issue immediately. Very impressed with Netvue excellent customer service and the cameras are now working fine again.
I will be replacing my semi-professional CCTV with these little gems! Excellent value for money!
Having spent a small fortune on IP cameras around my home, I can honestly say Netvue are confidently persuading me to ditch my old set up and replace each camera with one of these! My current setup is x4 HIKVISON Bullet cameras, all connected to my Synology NAS. All works reasonably well, but the interface for checking recordings and events is slow. I love how Netvue distinguishes between human motion and a car driving past.
Set up on these cameras couldn’t be easier. On par, if not better than a couple of Nest cameras I have. The Netvue app could be improved – I particularly like the idea of seeing all my cameras streaming live, in one place. Instead, the app displays just a thumbnail for each camera. Something I am sure will be addressed in the future.
Overall, excellent camera(s) – whether you go for the bullet or the indoor. Price…?? Well…this bullet-style camera is approx 75 cheaper than my HIKVISION!! Made of metal, IP67, quality the same (if not slightly better). Too good to be true? Maybe – but so far, I have zero complaints! Bravo Netvue!

Excellent Outdoor Camera that won't hurt your walle
This video camera is just great for our pocket and to add just a bit more security in our house. We did struggle initially to connect it to internet but once you get through that phase its all smooth sailing. Just remember to choose the area where you will place the camera well, ensuring that there is sufficient internet signal is available in your chosen area before drilling any holes. The function of adding an SD card inside was also great. It detects anything, even passing light from a car! We also love the two-way talk function. Our postman had a right scare when we suddenly spoke out from it. This is our second product that we bought from Netvue. It is going great so far. Thanks team!
Great camera for £40
First camera I’ve bought. Set it up hard wired internet connection with a SanDisk Extreem Pro 128gb memory card. Readin reviews I think it makes a difference gettin one wi good read/write speeds. It’s great. Especially the sound recording. Good video quality too. Although at 10 meters, zooming into recognise a face on night mode is a bit of an ask. But saying that, think it would be the same or worse on any other camera. Not that I’ve tried. U still get motion alerts while not subscribing. Just a picture instead of a video. But it gives u a time that u can scroll back to and watch on ur memory card. U can also record to ur phone the recordings from ur card in playback so anything u want to keep won’t get re-written over which is great. I’d be surprised if u could get better than this for 40.
Impressive Security Camera with Excellent Features
I’ve recently bought several of these NETVUE 1080P Outdoor Security Cameras as my existing ones from another maker were very unreliable and constantly dropped their Wi-Fi connections. The Netvue cameras however are excellent in all aspects.
They’re nice looking cameras, solidly constructed with a strong metal case. Three adjustment points on the mounting arm allows the device to be pointed in any direction so as to cover any area whether wall or under roof soffit mounted.
I mounted my cameras on the soffit as I found this to be the easiest method and allowed all the cables connectors to be tucked out of sight through a single hole and the camera mounted over the hole making a very neat job – see photos. (If the camera is to be wall mounted I recommend using a small weatherproof junction box so as to house/conceal the camera’s tail connectors).
I found the cameras easy to set up using the provided instruction booklet and downloading the app.
The picture quality is impressive as is the sound. Night mode display is very good.
A micro SD memory card (maximum size 128GB) can be installed in the camera to provide local video recording. I used a 64GB SD card which gave about a week’s continuous HD recording. Alternatively one can pay for Netvue’s Cloud Storage.
Excellent Basic Wifi Security Camera at a Good Price
This is a great little security camera at a really good price. Before I bought it I checked through the other reviews for this camera
and for some other highly rated security cameras at a similar price. It’s pretty obvious that some of those other cameras have “fake reviews” (see the recent Which? article), but the
reviews for the NetVue camera seem to be accurate. This is the first outdoor security camera I’ve bought. I’ve been put off before by reports of complicated setup (e.g. needing a DVR), difficult configuration, and low quality images. So far I am very pleased with this one.
As others have noted, the camera is metal bodied, and everything seems to be well made (even the box is decent quality). It comes with a drill bit, wall plugs and screws, but
I will just use ones I already have, which are better quality. The power cable is 12V DC. It comes with an indoor power supply that has a fixed cable (about 3m). The cable plugs into the one from the camera using a standard small connector. This will need to pass through the wall, eaves, window frame or similar, but unless you are using Ethernet or want to bring the wifi reset button inside, you will only need to make one fairly small diameter hole.
The camera can use either Ethernet or Wifi. I’ve set mine up to use wifi. It only works on the 2.4GHz band, but that’s reasonable since this will tend to give better performance at longer range (my 5GHz signal doesn’t extend far outside). The camera comes with an optional antenna (remove the weather cover to expose the connector and simply screw it on). The image quality is good (1080p) in both daytime and “night vision” mode. The microphone also seems to be good – it picks up a good level of sound, including background noise, and everything is clear. The speaker seems quite quiet even when the volume is set to maximum on the app. It’s loud enough for my use (where we are is quiet and secluded) but might not be enough in a noisy town setting for example. The motion detection seems to work well and the notifications are useful, but I’ll need to see whether the local birds, cats and other wildlife set it off too frequently. The quality of the night vision is good. The image is shown in black and white, and the camera uses three IR illuminators to light up the scene, which show as fairly obvious red lights (so this is not a covert night camera!). The camera is fixed focus and there is no pan, tilt or zoom. For my purposes, this is fine.
It did take a little while for me to set the camera up: the “smart link” setup didn’t work for me (timed out), but I was able to use the QR code method successfully on my second attempt. Overall, I’m not unhappy with that – compared with most devices I’ve set up recently, this wasn’t hard – I only had to enter my wifi password and didn’t have to muck around with strange network settings or read an incomprehensible user manual – everything just worked through the App with a few simple steps. I did have to set my phone to the 2.4GHz band. This wasn’t too hard for me since I give the bands different network names anyway, but you might want to turn off the 5GHz band temporarily if you don’t do this.
I updated the firmware, and I’m pleased to say this it updated perfectly.
You will probably want to use a (micro) SD card for recording. This lives under a hatch on the bottom of the camera. Make sure you don’t drop the card inside the case – it would be easy to miss the card slot. I originally formatted the card on my Mac (HFS+), but that wasn’t a problem since the App allows you to reformat the card while it’s in the camera.
It seems to use about 350MB per hour, so I estimate that a 64GB card should give about a week’s recording.
The App is pretty good. It shows the live camera picture clearly and allows you to interact through the microphone. You can also take recordings and snapshots
as well as look at historic footage. The full screen image is clear, and you can zoom in to see more detail. There is a bit of lag on the live image, but not enough to be a
problem. You can schedule the camera to sleep for a particular time and on specific days, but I think you can only set one schedule. This is not something I’m
likely to use, but it could be useful if you needed to monitor a location only during the day or at weekends, for example.
You can also control the sleep mode directly from the App, as well as setting a schedule for motion detection, the sensitivity level, and which
parts of the image to respond to motion in (useful if part of the image was a road or you only wanted to be notified if people approached a side gate, for example). The image is divided into twelve rectangular zones for motion detection and any of these can be on/off. You can view the motion events in the App, filtered by date.
You can also share the camera with another account. I intend to set this up so my wife can also view the security images, which should give her more
peace of mind (we live in a very low crime area, but the reassurance is nice, and we have caught some people entering our property without permission).
I probably won’t bother with the cloud storage option, but this would be nice if you were worried that the camera could be targeted in some way. As others
have noted, a charge of $50-$70 per camera per year would be a disincentive to have too many of these cameras on a single account, unless you had real security concerns. There are 3 options: simple motion capture is only $20/year; with automated human detection, it is $50/year; and 24/7 monitoring is $70/year. There are also pay monthly options ($1.99 etc). Two weeks standard motion capture is included.
I have enabled the Alexa skill, but unless you have an Echo Show/Spot this probably won’t be much use with this camera. You can just ask the status of the camera, the time of the last event etc.
Overall, a really nice security camera at a good price.
Better than I expected
The quality of the camera for the cost has really surprised me. So far I am only recording to a sim card so I haven’t used the cloud service yet or the motion detection as I have it continually recording but so far the camera has been great. After having my car window smashed for no reason on my driveway I have opted for this camera as a deterrent. The app works fast and connects to my camera easily giving me a live stream.
Bit tricky to install due to the size of the cables but I have put them in a waterproof box so the power lead is the only cable that comes through my wall.
So far very happy – it also looks the part.
Works a Treat!
I already have a Netvue Orb camera and when I decided to add a security camera outside it seemed sensible to choose another Netvue one. I have been very satisfied with the Orb and with my iPhone and iPad have been able to monitor my home from across the world.
Maybe because of my experience with the Orb I had no difficulty setting up my new Vigil camera. Rather than the recommended smart setup I used the alternative QR code method as this is what I had used with my Orb. It worked perfectly. I had set it up in the room with my broadband router and therefore felt confident as long as I was still in Wi-Fi range I could fix it to an outside wall. Fixing to the wall was not difficult and I was able to thread the cable through my garage door to an electric point.
It has only been installed 24 hours but so far I am very pleased. During the day the picture on my iPad is clear and vibrant and at night it is clear in black and white.
As yet I have not connected it to my Echo Show but whether it works or not is not important to me as I need the camera for when I am away from home.
Just one thought. It would be excellent if Netvue could market a battery operated version of the camera as this would provide greater flexibility over its placeme
Great quality!!
We first started off with rhe netvue home security camera 1080p,for my husbands birthday and it has worked fantastically! We can now keep a eye on the motorbike whilst we are on holiday, have used this every single day since.
Iv now ordered the two netvue bullet camra i have brought one for my husbands christmas present so now he can keep a eye on the motorbike and the house.
my mum’s birthday is coming up so we got her one two as her one broke wasnt netvue. We have had ours since 9th december 2018 so if you want a product that lasts recommend the NET VUE camera’s such good quality so iv got my mum one two.
"VIGIL"ANT bullet cam by Netvue
The Netvue Vigil lives up its name allowing you to be “vigilant” via the easy to use android app. For the price the quality of the picture is great. The motion detection works well and alerts pop up anounced on the Echo Show seamlessly with a phrase “Motion detected at the Driveway”.( there is a delay in the live view on the Echo comared to the app on Galaxy Note.Set up is easy but only works on 2.4 Ghz Wifi from dual band of my tplink router, using the QX scanner. I purchased an extension lead to add another 9m. The 128 GB SD card had to be formatted via the netvue app and took a few minutes to mount in the camera.
Brilliant little cameras!
Firstly I want to be clear I’m not being paid or given any freebie for this review!
I love these little cameras from Netvue! The price is great and the quality is superb! Netvues support is also the best I’ve come across for any product – the live chat team are always ok hand to help provide advice and resolve any issues.
Images are clear both day and night, sound is good and setting these up is so easy! I recently purchased the Vigil outdoor camera to replace my old Foscam which after 4 years packed in. This at half the cost is as good (image and sound wise) and feels just as sturdy. I hope it lasts as long, or longer – time will tell.
I have 2 other Indoor Netvue cams and I’m really impressed. They offer cloud storage which is well priced but I prefer storing locally with the SD card slot built in to the cameras.

Looking for a standalone CCTV camera? BUY IT
For the cost, absolutely everything you could wish for. Great clarity day or night, visual or audio. Ease of set up and use.
Negative points and there isn’t many! Human detection is useless. Even areas fenced off is still triggered by cars, constantly. The cloud service is paid for after 2 weeks, I wouldn’t bother, it still takes a snapshot of events for a reference timeframe to scroll back. Make sure you format the SD card in the camera. I used a 64gb high speed and works faultless. You have a pairing button on the lead, the lead is pretty short and about 18mm wide so you have to get that in a outside box or through the wall. I took it through a soffet so it was easy. BUT IF YOU NEED TO RE PAIR the device, you need access the button. As I found out after replacing my router. Extending the 12v power lead is easy as it’s only twin core bell wire. The ONLY OPERATING NEGATIVE. I wish you could review footage and fast rewind/fast forward instead of setting a timeframe and watching it at normal speed.
That said, for less than 40? It’s a bargai
Excellent quality and value - easy to set up
I have been looking around for a good quality CCTV outdoor camera for security for our driveway which also needed to be simple to install and with flexible feature options. The Netvue Bullet ticks all the boxes. The ability to adjust motion detection sensitivity eliminates false readings you don’t want (moths, birds, cats etc). The app is really useful with links to videos on how to install and set up. Quality of picture is excellent and picks up well in Night Vision mode and playbacks easy to find. I decided on the 14 day 24 hour constant recording package as it at $69.99 for one year its like 1 per week here in UK for peace of mind. I also used the chat support line within the app and the support desk was very helpful and liked my suggestion for a new feature.
Good, cheap, home security camera
Purchased this to provide protection for the front of our house after getting problems with anti social behaviour. The camera requires quite a large hole to feed the cable through from outside as you need to allow for the network port. Set up was nice and easy and camera was online quickly. I paired this with a 64gb micro sd card which is about enough for a weeks recording. So far am really happy with the quality of daytime video, with my only slight gripe being nighttime video can be a bit washed out. However it has made us feel really secure and I love the live view which enables me to see what’s going on outside all the time. If you’re on the fence about getting one of these I would highly recommend it.
Good camera for the money
A well made camera for the money. Easy to install on WiFi and the App works well. Fitted 128gb card with no problems. Did not take advantage of cloud storage offers. Motion detection sensitivity adjustments not great but screen divided in to small areas so you can select the most important areas. Night vision pretty good too. Very easy to see stored video. Remote viewing via 4g or WiFi is generally fast.
The easiest camera to install and configure
I purchased this camera to put onto the side of my garage and monitor the driveway and cars. I am amazed at the quality of the camera and the picture for the price. The camera was simple to setup and by using the QR code the device was setup within 5 minutes and recording data back to a SD card.
It is perfect for my scenario here and the night vision and motion detection is great. After a little testing I have been able to record video from my driveway in near darkness and view the footage as if it were daylight.
I would recommend this camera for anyone looking for a quick and easy way to install a CCTV camera without the needs for a degree in IT.
This is not a gimicky webcam but a useful outdoor camera.
The setup on this was simple. The proceedure was a little slow but each stage worked up until the last one where it reported into the Netvue servers – here it timed out. The online support chat checked and having found that my camera hadn’t reported in suggested rebooting my router. Whatever had blocked the camera reporting in was fixed by the reboot and the camera went live – it was also a lot more responsive through the app so my router was the problem here.
From start to finish was about 15 minutes and during testing it worked well off the router WiFi and also further away via a mains WiFi extender.
For the low price I paid I’m delighted with the weatherproof, Alexa enabled, outdoor camera. The voice and microphone work well too so it has been quite useful.
Excelle
We have two of these cameras set up to protect our holiday house in Spain.
They are very very easy to set up.
I took another reviewers suggestion of putting all of the wires in a junction box outside, as the cables are too bulky as a group to easily put through the wall, so I just put the power cable through.
The picture is great and it’s a little additive watching it!
Night vision is very impressive.
Haven’t had any problems with the motion sensor. It’s only pointing at our property so not getting cars or anything.
App works well and the live chat has been responsive with questions.
Can’t really go wrong for the price. Not that much more expensive than dummy cameras!
