Works really well, very pleased.
However located near the rear antenna, or cables routed in the vicinity of antenna cable will cause interference on in car radio.
The ferrite cores supplied help massively.
I have yet to relocate the camera (it is currently centred and in the upper part of tailgate).
Just sacrificing some radio stations at the moment.
This is the easiest way to install a rear camera if you already have a compatible dash cam. It does not give the same field of vision as a rear window mounted camera but is adequate and much easier than running a cable. The only thing I have noted is that the lens adjustment could be better if it had a slightly greater movement.
This module plugs into the side of the camera so no installation problems. But this limits the place where the camera is mounted: the rear view must not be hidden by the sun visors or the rear view mirror. Actual performance is better than I expected from various reviews. In my car (Skoda Superb Estate) the lens produces a good image in which, for example, car reg. numbers are clear. The rear window mostly fills the image (if not obscured by passengers). Little, if any, side windows are shown though. I tossed in my mind which of the three modules to buy, but for me this does all I need it to and I made the right choice.
It gives a good view out of the rear window. Within the first week I was tailgated and passed the video onto the police. A little bit of vibration over bumps but otherwise good.

exactly what was required and works very well. pleased with but cable is rather long and difficult to tuck all the length into head lining in car.
Well packaged, delivered on time clear instructions and the movement due to magnetic foxing is very good.
Ensure that you snap in the cam connector to the main wire , needs a little push, I didn’t do that and spent a good hour or so rewiring things because I thought I might have bent the wires a bit too much.
Also, after attaching the cam the nextbases blue light began to flicker and the recordings had a crackling sound in them, fully charging the nextbase fixed it.
If you have a Nextbase 2 forward-facing camera this is a great and easy add-on to cover the rear view of your vehicle. No complicated or difficult wiring. It plugs into the main camera and takes power and connection from there. With all the bad drivers and insurance scammers out ther, it’s a good idea to have video coverage on your side.
Well made camera that just works . The only thing to mention is that you need a U3 SD card for this to work as it needs the faster write speed to record both front and rear cams simultaneously.
After getting a new U3 SD this is working perfectly.
Used in my car. Easy enough to install using the trim tool to feed the cable. The picture quality is very good and build quality is good.

Fantastic addition to the 522gw camera, using in transit van in middle of ceiling so I can record either drivers or passenger windows in case of conflict, upgraded card to a 256mb and it works perfect just remember to use a u3 versio

When I saw the video for the camera, it looked really impressive, quality and view from behind was excellent, unfortunately, it didn’t live up to expectations. When I attached it to the main front-facing camera the view was not that great, secondly, it does need to used with a Nextbase SD card, I had an Integral one 128Gb U3, but the module just started to overheat, and once removed the port was so hot I couldn’t touch it. Spoke with customer service and he was an excellent help, explained why Nextbase SD needed to be used and sent me a free one. Back to the rearview module, this is better in a convertible I was told, and not a saloon or hatchback. Subsequently, I’ve returned it and purchased the cable-connected rear-view camera. works so much better and quality is perfect now to see vehicles behind you.
Basic dashcam plus rear view clip in camera worked well. In box ‘instructions’ of minimal use and largely illegible as printed on black paper. Access to online manual essential. Accessing files on PC easy through supplied cable. App not fit for purpose seemingly written by an incompetent team with no testing or quality control oversight. The additional ‘gimick’ feature of SOS and Alexa not required.
Camera and picture quality is good and very easy to install as it plugs into side of dash cam,no wiring required.However it was not really suited to my vehicle,a Discovery Sport,as the rear screen is quite small and headrests on rear seats the rear view image was quite restricted so have decided to go with the camera mounted on rear window.

This is a must have in today’s life once installed, it is so easy to switch between front and rear cameras. When using front camera, the rear view is in the corner of the dash cam.

Solid feel to the cameras easy to set up, In my opinion worth the money only thing I don’t understand is that you need a memory card inserted to use the cameras so why don’t Next base add an option for an sd card when you order the camera?

I Had a Nextbase 522GW Front View Dashcam & Hardware Fitted by Halfords just before Xmas 2020. A 25 to 45 min job turned into a two hour installation… I have a 2014 Ford Focus (Hatchback) the installer could not get it to power up when the ignition were turned on… Even used a second Installer to double check all were fitted all ok. Both Said i would need to take it into ford to install correctly.. I knew what the issue were all the way along.. i simply played along with it as long as i possibly could.. Most of the electrics does not work correctly when either the Drivers or Passenger door is left open. As it were geting close two two hours and not happy with the advice given, i said i will try it with the engine running.. Bingo The 522W Powered up… So i complained about my time being wasted… I got Refunded the 35 Fitting Fee + a 15 Gift Voucher…
The Money were spent on the Rear Camera and i am so pleased by the quality of the recordings… This were Fitted By myself in around ten – fifteen minutes max.. Bare in mind that i am one who do not like cables showing at all but the best i could do is in the pic as it needs a little amount to cover the the Hatchback Space required for the opening… I have been using this rear cam for two days now and is working as it should… Just have to watch the cable if i need to fill the boot, And to keep an eye on the front cam every so often to see it keeps a very good line up of the road behind me.

The connector to the dashcam could be smaller, that would make installation much easier if want to hide cables properly!
Camera was fine. Delivery sooner than stated. Setting up a nightmare because I have a qashqai trying to get the best view through the back window not easy. Came sooner than expected. Had to change the original sd card for my front camera as it wasn’t the correct one. Picked a sd card c10 u3 128 GB for 19 quid and now working correctly

This is a good add-on, but it eats the built-in battery in main camera very quickly.
Excellent rear view camera no problems installing it i see a few reviews saying magnet was not great. I’ve had no problem with it. I drive a hatch back so opening and closing the boot a lot amera didn’t slip at all. When installing leave a little extra cable hanging out for opening and closing the boot and all will work well for you no shipping on the magnetic strip at all. No freezing as others have said make sure your buying g the right micro sd card V3 so it is fast enough to record video. Would highly recommend anyone to buy this as a rear view camera.

As mentioned in my review of the camera, it’s easy to lose your DAB radio signal. So make sure you check that before replacing all the trimming!! Call Nextbase to ask how to install in your car.

Installed this with a 322GW in my car. Brilliant set up and good picture quality. Would recommend everyone gets a dash cam, this one is a great option. Plan where you are going to run the cable, because it can be a little tricky to find a suitable path. If unsure, check YouTube, lots of videos on there for finding a good route.
Great little camera. Make sure the base camera is turned off before you plug the 2nd in or it glitches and needs a reset. Great to see it working.
Hardest part was hiding the cables
The rear view camera is an eyeball with a cable, that connects to the mount purely by magnet. Mine is on a tailgate (with plenty of cable slack as recommended) but each time I close the boot or hit some rough road, the camera changes perspective. There needs to be a way to secure it in place by more than just a magnet. I have applied a small blob of hot glue that does the job and it can be easily peeled off if needed.
Installation is very straight forward, simply having to connect the supplied cable to the front camera, running the cable under the vehicle headliner (easy enough), to bring the cable to the rear window or hatch/boot of the vehicle and then affixing the camera mount etc., in its final position. In my case, I threaded the cable through the rubber grommet/cable sleeve between the vehicle and tailgate, so the camera cabling was fully hidden.
The camera mount sticks to the rear window with a strong self-adhesive pad (similar to the front mount), but it’s at this point that Nextbase have really dropped the ball on the camera design.
The actual camera simply attaches to the mount by a (reasonable) strong magnet, BUT the magnet and the spherical design of the product means the camera can be very easily knocked off its required position, there’s no “clamp action” and this introduces a major failing in my opinion. This probably wouldn’t be such an issue with a fixed rear window (saloon), but for the estate/hatch/SUV brigade, the camera can be vulnerable to being knocked, and if left un-noticed, the user might just find the rear view footage to be less that useful when needed.
Nextbase, you really need to improve this, it’s the only disappointing aspect of this product.
The socket on this camera is magnetic and the cable connects to the camer rather than through the mount. This means if the cable cannot be secured to the window/ boot lid then the camera will move when the boot opens and shuts, adjusting the angle/ direction.
This attachment to show the rear of the road is a simple plug in to the main body of the correct type of dash cam.
It looks fine, isn’t bulky, its lightweight and shows the images in the top left corner of the main dash cam.
The images do not appear of fantastic quality or size but as the product states, they do show as much as the rear mirror which is all you can expect as thats the area covered, I have yet to use the product as I am waiting on a micro sd card so will update this when I can view the images properly on a camera or such.
Seems to do what it is designed to.
Easy to attach and the picture quality is good but only thing is you can’t see the rear vehicle’s number plate as you would if the camera was attached to the rear glass screen as I drive a soft top.
Overall it’s decent and worth it should you get hit from behind.

To meet the Nextbase stated SD card requirements, I use a Sandisk 128GB U3 High Endurance card – and front and rear feeds record simultaneously without issues. As such, I am very pleased!
Very easy to install, just clicks into a port on the side of the Dashcam and is ready to go.
Is great for convertibles (especially when the roof is down) but not so good for other cars.
Camera quality is great and is very useful for another viewpoint to record while driving but if you don’t have a convertible then buy the rear mounted camera.

Have both front and rear dashcam installed. Clear picture. Has made me feel safer driving around busy city centre when other cars get too close.
I had my doubts about whether the magnetic mount would hold position on the rear windscreen of a hatchback with the boot getting opened and shut, but it does as long as you have taken care to get the cable stowed right, with enough slack but not too much. YouTube to the rescue. It lost a star for ease of install from me because it came with no instructions for a noob like me for how to run the cable through the car without spoiling the feel of the interior — important to me in my brand new car. Again, YouTube to the rescue. I got a result I was very happy with, cable completely out of sight except at end points.
In terms of setup, plug it into the main cam and the main cam does the rest.
The most likely way you would have problems with this is by not taking the time and care needed with the cable, and ending up getting the camera pulled around when the boot is opened and closed. Avoid that and using it should be trouble free.

When installing this item make sure you engage the plug and socket firmly i was driving around with it not quite
engaged for a few days thinking it might me broken, then had a eurika moment and realised I hadn’t pushed it home and all of a sudden it came on my dash cam.
This rear window camera is very easy to install and includes plenty of cable. As the camera attaches to the mount by magnet, it’s very easy to adjust in order to get the angle you want. As soon as you plug it in to your NextBase dash cam, it connects automatically, so no need to configure any other settings.
All video is saved to the SD card that’s in the main camera – so for each clip you will end up with two seperate files (one for the front cam and one for the back cam). So it’s very easy to review the footage.
Bear in mind that the quality of the rear cam will be determined by the front cam. I believe that if you have the front cam on 1440p, the back cam will be 720p (which frankly is useless). But if you have the front set to 1080p, the back one will also be 1080p.
For the sake of an extra 45, it’s definitely worth having.
Great quality camera, works well when driving. Useful to prove in event of a crash where your looking specially in a scociety that always looks at their phones while driving. PLEASE NOTE: You need a U3 micros SD for this to work.
Good if you have a coupe or saloon it moves about too much with a hatch back
Easy to install, needs a U3 memory card in the camera to work. One improvement I would make is a more robust plug on the end of the camera. It came undone a couple of times so I had to take the trim down twice, a pain! So tape up the plug and all will be well!
What a great item, just plug into your existing dashcam, rotate the lens to see through rear window and that’s it! No wiring to plug in and hide.
My car is quite long and has a small rear window (jaguar XE) but the picture from this camera is good quality. I am really impressed.
Running the cable through the car is a pain, but worth it.
The camera is great and works perfectly.
Just with the mount held it a little tighter so when the boot opens it doesn’t offset it.
I will keep the gopro on the back as a VISIBLE deterrent, inside cameras are NOT a deterrent to tailgating as they can not easily be seen

Running t6he cable above the doors down the front pillar and along the screen, all in all 30 minutes start to finish and very enjoyable.
ADVICE……………….. Start the rear camera from the WINDSCREEN NOT the back of the car or when you have lots of spare cable you have no where to hide it, from front TO back you can leave it in the boot or under a parcel shelf.
80, and almost mint, BUT a quick start guide was NOT included you have to download the manual, no big deal.

I bought this camera as an add on for my wife’s car. I must say I am very impressed with the design and picture quality.
The wire suppield was just about long enough to run from the camera to the dashcam at the front of her Ford Kuga. It was a little tricky running the wire whilst keeping it all hidden but this will depend on your car make and model.
This is such a great little device! Was upset when it wouldn’t connect to my original dashcam form NextBase so went and bought the 522GW instead which was pricey but the quality is amazing!!! Thinking of it now, I probably would have got the cabin facing one instead of just the rear so it covers your ass as well if you get pulled ove
Fantastic add on to my current Nextbase 522GW. Very simple to connect and add into the current dashcam set up. Also the magnet connecting the camera to the secured base on your rear windscreen is very strong and won’t move when shutting your boot lid. (or hasn’t in my experience over the last few weeks anyway)
Because of this it can also be adjusted to get the camera angled for prime viewing experience.
So easy to fit and works very well. I have a two seater sports car and the view is spot on.
Wasn’t sure this was going to work very well and I didn’t want to fit the wired option. But I’ve been very impressed my back window on the car is very tinted and it sees very well. I also swap it to my van which is a long wheel base Vito crew van and it again picks up the cars behind very well
Video quality is good, both day and night. You do need to ensure that your main camera SD card is fast enough to support two cameras, but I bought both cameras together so made sure the SD card was as per the instructions.
Not the cheapest system, but the quality of this camera matches the front facing unit, and both are excellent.

But no trailing wires, no having to feed cables from front to rear via the headlining or under the carpets. No additional power supply needed.

First time I’ve had a rear view camera for a dash cam and what an excellent addition. You can tap screen for full rear view of have it open in a small window on screen. A must have addition and easy to fit, just watch out for boot spoiler.
Bit fiddly to fit cable from front to back, but at least it’s tidy. Time will tell if it performs OK.
Purchased this when I upgraded to a better Nextbase Dash Camera and I thought for the additional outlay this would be a useful add-on based on the reviews I had read when researching which model to buy. Not fitted yet so can’t report on its effectiveness

PROBABLY GOOD FOR TAXI AND PRIVATE HIRE DRIVERS – Mine arrived already opened with a reconditioned sticker on it which wasn’t how it was described. It seemed to work but I returned it wanting a new one not a second hand one.
Bought in conjunction with a 522GW front camera this is easy to install and connect.
I didn’t realise when I ordered it that the camera is held magnetically on the base so if you don’t get the base 100% accurately stuck then there is plenty of adjustment in the camera. It took two of us less than minute to aim it properly and after six or seven weeks of use fixed to the tailgate it’s still properly aimed. At the front unit all you have to do is plug it in to the magnetic base and camera does everything else. No addressing or other programming at all.
Pretty good overall with low if any vibration of the picture, easy to adjust, stays where you put it and small enough not to be obtrusive.
Great camera works well my only issue is that it does move a bit as it is held by magnets to the base and the image can become slanted. However still worth having!
Nice add on cabin view camera ,particularly helpful for Driving instructors , taxi drivers etc to keep safety within the vehicle , sk pleased I found this unit with Nextbase ,cheers Shaun .

If you get hit from behind a front facing dashcam would only record the impact data but with this filming out of the back window it records everything…so no excuse from the person who rear ends you
Can’t fault this at all. Really good quality picture and doesn’t take up much space on the dash at all. Very handy to have and easy to install.
Small but very effective easily positioned + cable length adequate for lwb Renault van, just plug into Nextbase head works straight away.
I have both cameras from this company and both very good for the price.
It works well in conjunction with the Nextbase dashcam, the camera records two videos automatically one for front view and one for rear.
I have tested it in a night time, in street light situations, pulling away from traffic lights etc it is easy to read reg plates on cars behind. However when driving at speed this is not the case (if someone hits you they’ll be coming to a halt anyways)
I have not test this module at night time with NO street lights. So I can’t comment on that.
Also you require a speed 10 *U3* micro SD card in the 522GW in order to attach this rear module. It will not record on a standard speed 10 micro SD card
Running wire around the car is a faff but all Is good and app is easy to use
Easy to attach but you can only see the back end of the back seat and wether it provides any useful information on a back end crash as evidence is negligible
A great add on for the new generation Nextbase cameras. This is fitted to 522 GW cameras and it provides a good view out through the rear window. Easy to use and great value for money.

At the time of this posting, if you use this module or any add on camera (I use 522gw) you’ll need to be using a nextbase branded memory card, or else you’ll get errors on screen. Not sure if there is a fix in the world for this.
Great little camera, integrates with main unit very well, recordings on the app come out duplicated, so for a30 second clip, for example – you’ll have a front and rear video rather than a picture in picture combined video. (at least on the nextbase app)
