Easily assembled although heavy to carry upstairs, even in bits, and very comfy. It’s absolutely solid so I’m expecting it to last a long time. It’s used for long periods every day.

Well worth the money.j have spent a fortune over the past few years in “cheaper” chairs. Should have just got this to start with. It’s sturdy. No clunking or clicking. And it’s comfortable as it can be adjusted in so many ways. I was dubious about the arms as I never found a chair with arms I was happy with… But these are fine. But just as easy to leave them off if you don’t want them. I use my chair a lot …my main chair all day. And it’s is still comfortable at the end of the day.

After doing some research on office chairs for months, I decided to go with office hippo as it seemed like one of few reputable brands. Lets face it a lot of these chairs look exactly the same so I searched for 24 hour use, ergonomic and one that can take a lot of weight as I am a stocky guy. I took a plunge on this chair as it ticked all the boxes and seemed to have the deepest seat cushion I could find and was reasonably priced to expect quality but not into the 600/700+ range which is what a lot of companies pay for office chairs. Well it arrived and was well packaged. When buying these assemble yourself chairs you are always scared its gonna be a nightmare to assemble like my previous Argos chair was, but I had finished building the chair within 20-30mins. Honestly I think it is one of the most comfortable chairs I have ever sat in. Its better than any chair I have ever had at work due to the deepness of the seat cushion, firmness and adjustability. Most chairs dont actually support your back, but within a couple of minutes I was able to dial in just the right settings that would let me feel really comfortable and supported, but yet with good posture. As a music producer, I need a chair that I can sit in for long periods and posture is so important so we don’t create back problems, I am very confident that this chair will outdo any chair you have sat in for posture, comfort and support. The build quality is great with 90% of the chair being solid heavy metal with plastic only where it makes sense. It feels built like a tank and like it will last a long time. Overall I’d give this chair 10/10 because if you spent 500 more, you’d have no guarantee you’d get anything better and could even get worse for your money. Anyone considering this should just go ahead, and don’t bother to buy assembly unless you have mobility issues, as this is easy to assemble.

Several reviews said basic comfort. I beg to differ. I think it’s above basic comfort compared with an office chair half its price which my husband owns. I can sit in it for long periods of time and the back support is great. The trouble I have now is my husband keeps trying to pinch it when he works!! He’s sorry he didn’t spend a little bit more. Solid and sturdy. My husband said he thought it was easy to put together by himself. It did take him about 70 minutes.

The chair quality is good but not perfect. Leather seat and backrest are lovely but the rubbery arm rests are not what I expected and a bit too wobbly. The Backrest rises and falls but there seems to be nothing to keep it in its elevated position. I took this up with the seller who was extremely helpful and responded very quickly. After a few emails back and forth they offered to refund my money and collect the chair which I thought was very generous. I decided to keep it as it’s really comfortable and seems to be quite robust.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI’ve used in work 24 hrs chairs before, they’re great. But those are nearly 2000 each. This one is 90% of those at an affordable price. The chair has plenty of adjustments, is big, heavy (in a good way) and comfortable, very much so. Assembly takes about 20 minutes and can be assembled by one person, although some parts may benefit from help from someone else.
Negatives are not enough to remove a star but worth mentioning. The levers do feel a little bit flimsy. the fabric tends to get quite hot and a little itchy and uncomfortable if wearing shorts or during hot weather. I covered the chair with a chair cover that they sell here in Amazon and that problem has been pretty much fixed. Overall, 5 stars produc

I’ve just started working from home and needed a replacement for the trusty but very old and worn out chair I had been using.

This arrived quicker than expected and was fairly easy to put together. Several issues we worked through were: screwing the back in to the metal plate – it took a while to work out which way round it all went as the instructions weren’t completely clear; screwing the larger bolt into the metal plate onto the chair, which required some brute force as someone else previously mentioned. There were a few times it felt like it wouldn’t go any further in, yet there was still a looseness to the back and there was still a gap between the screw head and the back plate. Keep at it until it is tight. Finally, the back plate plastic cover was a nightmare .. it fits in a channel of sorts, and then has a plastic clip either side that clips into the bottom of the back – but one side just refused to go in properly. We tried all sorts and eventually “sort of” got it in – it’s certainly unlikely to come back out any time soon, and although the gap at the top is a little lopsided, honestly it’s cosmetic and you only see it if you’re sat on the floor behind the chair. And if that’s how you sit, you’re doing it wrong :p

Construction was aided by having an Allen key attachment, of the right size, on my hand-held ratchet screwdriver though – having to do it all with just the Allen key provided would have taken a lot longer.

The chair itself is comfortable, feels solid and well made, and is highly adjustable. I struggled a bit to get the back to the right height, mainly because you seem to have to raise is a little at a time and, if you accidentally get right to the top, you don’t seem to have any choice but to reset it to the bottom point.

I also still have no idea what “lever D” does. The instructions state it is the forward tilt lever, and seemed to suggest it was used in conjunction with “lever B”, but irrespective of what I do, it just seems to flap in the breeze. I don’t feel any lack of this though, so it’s not a problem. Unless one day I accidentally activate it, it sticks itself in a weird position, and then I’m unable to get it back again :p

The only other thing to mention is this thing gives off quite an unpleasant odour. Unnoticeable initially, or when used to it, leaving it in a small enclosed room and then coming back, the smell is quite powerful, although that is now fading. Probably just that new “foam filling” smell.

Overall, I’m pleased with it – my kids also want one to replace their computer gaming chairs – but they’re going to have to save up!

eplacement for similar chair which is demoted into garden shed. Reasonably easy to assemble and easily copes with my 17 stone plopping on it for at least 4 hours a day. 5 star to date as long as the chair lift mechanics hold out without having to drill and fix height etc

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersBackground – I bought this 2 and a half years ago and work from home so tend to sit in this chair for some 8 to 10 hours at a stretch.

Delivery was fine, and the chair came disassembled – which was good, because I could carry the individual components upstairs to the office – some of these components were not exactly light.

As others have said, this is a heavy chair, but it does seem solid and I have no complaints about the build quality.

The arms – well, I don’t like arms on my office chairs so I didn’t fit them (I have a desk that wraps around me, so the arms would just get in the way).

I weigh a little over 100kg, and the cushioning has not flattened – that was a pleasant surprise – so I do find the chair immensely comfortable, but being the only person who sits in it, I find I don’t need to use the adjustments at all – once it is set – it is set. The adjustments provided are all the ones you would expect to find on a quality office chair.

One person mentioned the plastic cover a the bottom of the backrest – it can be a little tricky to fit, but it did clip in correctly for me.

The “leather” finish is fine, and despite never being looked after by me (conditioned, washed, wiped down etc), is showing limited signs of wear – with no splits or colour loss.

If i had to buy another – yes I would , especially now the price is reduced by 20% from when I bought it.

EDIT April 2021: Chair is still going strong, padding on the seat is a little flattened but not enough to require attention.

Going from a cheap chair which was only comfortable for a few hours a day, this chair gives all day comfort and the padding does not appear to be diminishing

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersChair arrived promptly and as others mention it is reasonably heavy.
Straight forward instructions to assemble and took about 15 mins before ready to go.
The key points are that the tilt/swivel adjustment mechanism is really solid as ids the base and the strongest I have seen.
This is really important as all the other “cheap” chairs I have used over the years have all failed either because the metal in the tilt assembly is too thin/weak and the base is too flimsy allowing the piston goes straight through and rubs on the floor.
The seat itself is very comfortable which again is important to me as I work from home and spend 8 hours a day sitting on it.
Early days but I like it.

Golden Review Award: 12 From Our UsersI’ve had this chair for two months now, which is long enough to form a solid opinion of it.

The first thing to note is that the chair is quite heavy. This is usually a good thing when it comes to furniture, but it does mean the box it arrived in was difficult to handle. I had to unpack it to transport it – which is something to bear in mind if you’re getting it delivered somewhere other than home.

The chair is pretty straightforward to put together. It’s usually recommended two people assemble this sort of thing but I managed it on my own without too much trouble. You’re mainly putting together large pre-assembled sections rather than fiddly little bits. It comes supplied with everything you need for assembly, although if you have your own Allen keys it will be worth having them to hand. The provided keys have quite long handles which get in the way when tightening certain bolts – quite annoying but not the end of the world. It was just more fiddly than necessary at times.

The chair comes with a plastic cover to hide the attachment point between the base/sear and the backrest. For the life of me I couldn’t get it to snap into the holes provided. If I didn’t know any better I’d have said the cover was for a different chair. Thankfully just jamming it in place seems to have done the trick and it hasn’t fallen off yet.

Once the chair was fully assembled I spent a few minutes adjusting the various levers and finding a good seating position. The seat itself is firmer than I expected, more car sports seat than leather armchair. The leather and stitching look good and should last for many years, which is what I wanted.

One thing I don’t like are the armrests – specifically how they attach. They are screwed in underneath the seat to allow you to space them closer or wider apart, but no matter how much you tighten them there is still a tiny bit of movement. It’s maybe only 1mm but still enough to rattle slightly. I may take a closer look at this one day to see if I can come up with a DIY solution but at 200+ I think this could have been designed better.

Thankfully the arm rests are my only major criticism of this chair. After getting used to the firm seat it is comfortable and I can see it lasting a long time.

    Recommended.

I’ve had the black leather version of this chair since 2012 and it’s standing up to abuse pretty well. There’s no visible wear and tear, padding seems as firm as it was on day one so it definitely is a quality product. My only slight gripe is the lack of adjustable lumbar support which in a chair that is supposed to be designed for constant use is an omission that I can’t ignore. Not many chairs offer it but then again not many chairs are advertised as 24 hour chairs.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersReally solid chair, built like a tank! Not a beautiful chair but unlike a lot of office furniture this is not style over practicality. Very easy to assemble, and I’m someone who usually struggles and very often pays someone else to build Ikea stuff. You need to assemble this close to the place where it will be used, trying to carry this up a flight of stairs when assembled is a 2 person job! Very pleased with it, I hadn’t intended to spend quite so much on an office chair, however, as soon as you unpack it you realise that the build quality should ensure that the chair outlasts cheaper options by many years.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our Userswe had 2 heavy duty office chairs for over 10 years but they caved in a few years ago. we have tried other chairs but they never seem to last that long or were comfortable for long periods. until now, these are well built heavy duty chairs that are comfortable for long periods. fully adjustable to suit anybody and everybody.

if you want a heavy duty, fully adjustable, very comfortable chair to sit in for long periods then i would suggest you purchase these as the old saying goes “you get what you pay for” well worth the money (according to my wife). thank you from myself and more importantly from the wife …

An excellent chair designed in the ‘car seat’ fashion, robust and for long period use comfortably. I can’t find how to lower the back of the seat after having over extended it upwards. It’s just a case of finding the right place for my back since it is arthritic. Otherwise it arrived 2 days early and is a comfy well thought out product. Worth the extra money.

Many capable positions and angles, brilliant in this respect but build quality was a bit off.

The backrest can be moved up a fair way but the more you do the more it wobbles, never going to fall off but a little annoying.

I needed a replacement armrest, one of mine was not attached properly so they sent an entire chair! I just took the armrest out and sent back the new one?

Cushion is OK, I am way heavier than I like 19st and it just about does the job. I am also 6″ and fine the chair a very good fit. It can also go extremely wide (not that I am) but if your very wide then this will def accommodate you.

Also has a tilt forward option, not sure why but nice to have 🙂

Highly recommended.

Golden Review Award: 23 From Our UsersReceived yesterday to replace an old chair that lasted 17 years and was on its last legs.
The chair arrived and was unpacked and parts laid out with clear instruction on a single A4 paper on how to assemble and to adjust. I used my own tools but the supplied allen keys are fine and it took around 10 mins to have it up and running but to be fair I started my working life at Verco who manufacture office chairs and furniture so its just like most chairs to assemble.
The chair has plenty of adjustments or be it in basic form and is ample for the use I need.
The back can be free to move or locked, the base can be free to move or locked(no length adjustment), the seat forward tilt can be locked to remain flat, the rests have height adjustment with a small amount of side adjustment, back rest section has height adjustment on a simple lift and lock notch system, there is a spring control to alter tension for free movement of the seat when leaning back and the height of the chair can be adjusted.
The cloth is a typical hard wearing material and the padding is medium to hard which for me is what I was after.
The stitching looks fine and is even around the cloth joints.
Time will tell how the foam stands up on the seat base and if the rear joints holding the back rest stands up to the test of time but first impressions is that its a good quality basic office chair.
One point worth mentioning is the back support plate with the nut has been spot welded on and if you find the screw a tad tight to screw its ok to keep on screwing in as its the heat that just has a slight effect on the nut but its a strong joint and not a problem.
Its also worth insuring that when you screw the adjustment panel on the the base of the seat that you insure its level as there is a bit of play in the screw holes on the plate.
The instructions also show the side rest brackets need to be screwed on but mine were already fixed which is fine as it saved me doing it.
Just two little mentions, the instructions don’t mention the side adjustment on the arm rests and there is no mention of the adjustment for altering the height of the back rest section.
A little side note is that while 190 seems a lot, office chairs can run into hundreds and more but for the price it seems at first glance to be fine.

Good basic, no frills office chair.

They all appear to do something but after 4 weeks usage I’ve just about fine-tuned in the position that offers me daily Nirvana. My productivity hasn’t necessarily improved but I don’t creak and groan in agony any more when I straighten up after sitting for hours. Not cheap but a nice product. Considering the thousands of hours spent sat in an office chair It’s well worth the price. My back agrees!
