I rarely buy high-end collectibles, but when I saw this I couldn’t resist. After assembling it with my 12 yo son and playing around with all of the features, I love it! It strikes a perfect balance between a functional toy and a faithful recreation of the source material. With the saucer cover on it looks like a large model of the Enterprise. The lights are really well-done, especially in the warp nacelles. My only quibble is that the app is really low-fi and doesn’t really add much to the experience other than allowing remote sound & light controls. The AR feature has either frozen the app or failed to load after multiple re-downloads.
Also, this toy is designed to stay on the mounts. It’s not a “run around and pretend to fly” sort of toy. It is large and relatively heavy.

My husband absolutely love it. The sound is just perfect. It’s a huge set !
Only thing the box is dented and delivery stickers are pasted directly onto the playmobil box itself.

I snagged this when it hit what I’d call “expensive toy” price, rather than “luxury purchase” price.
I really like it and I bring it out for supervised play with my son – as a toy, it’s pretty great!

They did the engine lights particularly well. The depth of the saucer doesn’t look too off-scale in person (even though it is). The sound effects and buttons are limited but well chosen. It is satisfyingly large and has enough room to play on the bridge, and just barely enough in the engine room – of course I wish it could have included space for other important areas of the ship – but it would probably risk breaking under its own weight if you made it much bigger. The holographic decals are fun, though only the warship in the viewscreen moves really clearly. I would have preferred a little compartment with sliding doors for the turbo-lift to the sticker.

My only real complaint is that it cannot be switched easily back and forth from hanger to the stand. You have to semi-disassemble it to add the hanging wires or remove them. I want to hang it so that it’s out of harms way, but the wires definitely detract from the aesthetic when it is taken down for play. I don’t see why they couldn’t have had some simple hooks beneath a removable panel.

This thing is huge. High quality, well-made. My only complaint is the wiring and connections: braided cord with telephone connections. Hard to feed and kinda asinine. Guess they got a good deal on it because I can’t think of any other reason to use those. Otherwise great.

This thing is really really cool! It is big, so you have to have a place to display it if you’re a collector! Mine sits on top of my fridge in the kitchen! I just love this thing! And I just love looking at it! I did not set up the lights and sounds yet, but I’m sure they’re super cool also. The price was reasonable when I purchased it, and as big as it is, I think it’s well worth it! There are a lot of stickers, which I didn’t mind, but some of you out there might not like that. I’m an older collector, so I can’t say how much a child would play with it. I am not disappointed with my purchase what so ever.

    I can’t 5-star this enough.

It’s really well done. It’s really well detailed and looks like what it should. You have to put on a lot of stickers, but they’re high quality stickers, so if you go slow with some patience and tweezers, you’re done. It’s very simple to put together.

This sits on a chest of drawers for the past 3 months so I see it every morning and it puts a smile on my face. I know that’s cheesy and corny, but it does. It reminds me of the fun I had watching the original series 50 years ago. Thanks, Playmobil.

After debating on the cost of this setI finally pulled the trigger and got it when it dipped close to $299. I saw this set on display in Paris, France and have wanted it ever since. It’s an amazing set and the durability is good, attention to detail is superb and it displays wonderfully. The cost is the big deterrent. Playmobil knows fans will pay whatever they chargebut the original price is steep even for this ultra Star Trek Fan.

Even though it took 2 hours to fully assemble (there’s a lot of small stickers and decals, and the book leaves out a few of the decal instructions, so that’s a small minus), it’s worth every minute, and the final product is rather spectacular. Great and durable for kids’ playtime, but accurate and high-quality for discerning collectors. I’m not sure it’s worth the full retail price of $500 usd, but getting it on sale was definitely a big plus for us. People who love Star Trek will love this playset.

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersSehr schn anzuschauen, hab es aufgehangen, ber meinem TV schwebt es nun.

If you are a trekie you can give this to your child but know that you’ll be taking it back very quickly

It took me and my partner 8 hours to put this together successfully and it looks stunning and most certainly does Enterprise Justice highly highly highly highly highly highly recommended even if it goes up to 500

Only for me getting a faulty one, this is fantastic the biggest I’ve ever seen, I wanted it not for any Voices, but for the lights, all I got after spending 3 hours with my son putting it together is a bleeping noise, I thought it may need charging up, but I’ve had no lights or sounds except for this annoying ( Bleeping sound when you press the controls where Captain Kirk sits, when I get my refund IL be ordering another because as I’ve said it’s huge and fantastic as it is, so I can imagine what it must be like with lights on, and hanging from ceiling, thanks again Amazon.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis is a brilliantly executed model kit that takes just 3 AA batteries and some space. Check out the phone jacks! What the instructions don’t say about the polarity of the engines are this, If you watch TOS Star Trek you’ll notice they go from clockwise left to counter clockwise right (sometimes). Refer to episode ‘The Tholian Web’ for example. One video on You Tube had them reversed which confused me at first. Although no matter which way you go, they’ll run opposite each other accordingly. In my opinion it will become the most sought after TOS model though altered to fit Playmobil’s version for obvious reasons. My recommendation is to GET IT. One attribute that Playmobil might have added would have been an infrared remote control used for TVs, VCRs. robots etc. Yet even without it, It’s stunning!
Update: It seems other episodes show the engines counterclockwise left and clockwise right as well, which again change in still other episodes so both movements are correct during forward and reverse of the ship so you can’t go wrong. It’s something I never paid much attention to until this model. I’m truly delighted as it brings me even closer to TOS Star Trek when watching the series again.
Update: In episode,”Is there in truth no beauty” I think shows a close resemblance to the nacelles of the model. Their directions are counterclockwise left and clockwise right which are notably lit very similar. As I said though there are still other episodes where they are reversed. It now has become a fascination. I’m still amazed by the presence of this large scale emulation.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI finally got around to hanging the Enterprise in my collection room AKA The Sci-Fi Room.

I am increasing my rating from 3 to 4 stars.

I have got to say, this ship has grown on me. It looks great hanging in the center between the motorized solar system and all of the Star Wars ships in my collection.

Star Trek finally gets represented in my overwhelmingly Star Wars ship collection. I FINALLY have a decent sized ship that can stand it’s own, even next to my 7 foot long store display Naboo Fighter and 6″ action figure Black Series Tie Fighter.

I bought a 20 foot long USB A to USB C cable and ran it to a remote control outlet. I can turn on all of the lights and collectibles remotely in my collection room, and the Enterprise is part of that system.

Here is what I like about the ship now:

The app is pretty cool. I will only ever use the “Command Functions” where you can control sound functions, like Kirk and Spock’s voice messages, photon torpedos, red alert, warp drive, etc. I probably won’t ever use the other apps.

I thought I’d HAVE to use the app to turn the ship on and off, but I don’t have to. Plug in the USB C cable, and the ship turns on. When I turn on my remote control electrical outlet, the ship powers up automatically. This is a very good feature is you are going to hang your Enterprise. Having to reach up to push the power button would suck. The ship runs for only 3 minutes if you are using batteries, but with a USB C cable it runs for 120 minutes. I have to say, the nacelles look REALLY cool and the sound effects are awesome!

What I really DO NOT LIKE:

The location for the USB C cable might be good if you are displaying the ship on the included stand, but when it’s hung from the ceiling, well, it looks pretty bad. There is a door / hatch that has to stay open, and the cable exits the ship from the right side of the ship. See the pics. Not pretty. There ABSOLUTELY should be another USB C port on the top of the saucer, where the rear suspension cable is. The power cord could run parallel to that cable. It would be visible of course, but it would look A LOT better. I might do some modifications and route that USB C cable up to the saucer. We’ll see.

Speaking of the hanging suspension system, I really do not like the big plastic gold Trek logo hanger they came up with. HOWEVER, I see why they did it. Other than having to get on a ladder, taking the ship down and putting it back up is very easy. Just unhook the loops on the cables.

Assembling the ship was fun. Yes, there are a lot of stickers to apply. Just get a pair of good tweezers, good lighting, grab a beer, put on some good music, and spend an hour apply the stickers. The stickers are forgiving. If you get one placed incorrectly you can pull it up and reapply it. I used a small metal pick tool when I had to remove one. The plastic that the stickers are made from is perfect. There are no creases, folds, or any sign that a decal was removed and reapplied. Durable.

I would give this 5 stars IF:

    1) It wasn’t overpriced.

    2) That USB C cable wasn’t sticking out of the side of the ship. It is a BAD location.

I almost forgot. As far as this being a children’s toy, I tested that theory yesterday. I have three grandchilden. An 11 year old boy, and 11 year old girl, and a 6 year old girl. We had a family BBQ at my house yesterday. I had this sitting on a workbench in my garage / shop. I was excited to show the kids. Well, the 11 year olds said it looked “cool” and the 6 year old said “It looks like my Ghostbuster’s toys” (she has the entire Playmobil Ghostbuster’s collection). Well, the 11 year olds took off after spending 60 seconds looking at it and the 6 year old said “What does it do?” I showed her the features, the app, the figures, the bridge, engineering, etc. All of it. She wasn’t impressed with the features and left after about five minutes. Oh well. As I thought, not a great children’s toy. I can tell you that the “kids” in their 30’s, 40’s, and 50’s liked it a lot!

    Here is my original review:

Like I said in the headline: ABSOLUTELY NOT worth 500 dollars.

It’s worth MAYBE 300, and that’s pushing it.

Okay, so when this came out I was impressed with the SIZE of it. It’s not the best representation of the Enterprise, but we really don’t have very many options if we want an Enterprise collectible in this scale, do we? I said collectible. There is no way that this is a toy. Maybe some use it as a toy, but I have kids and a grandchild, and well, I don’t see this lasting long OR keeping their attention long…

However, I have a HUGE sci-fi collection. I have some really big Star Wars ships, like the 7 foot long Naboo Fighter, the really big Star Wars Black Series First Order Special Forces TIE Fighter, a Millenium Falcon, an X-Wing, Troop Transport, etc.

I want TREK to be represented in the collection. THAT is why I wanted this. I am going to hang it from the ceiling in my Sci-Fi room with all of the other LARGE models. I will NEVER use the figures. I will never use the features. It’s going to be assembled and hung from the ceiling. That’s it.

The ONLY reason I bought this is that I got it on sale for UNDER 300.00 shipped. I would NOT spend a penny over 300. I still think that I overpaid at that price. I really think that these will drop into the low to mid-two hundred dollar range at some point. They are just way too overpriced for what you get. I don’t think that they are selling well, as you can routinely buy this for under 350.00.

So that’s it. I bought it. Am I happy? Yes. Happy-ish. Thrilled at the price? No. Not at all.

    Do I recommend it? Maybe.

It’s a terrible value, an okay representation, a great size (for my purpose), and not a good toy IMHO.

Oh yeah, I am going to hang it, but not with that ridiculous hanging system that comes with the ship. What were they thinking? It looks horrible.

I know that this is kind of a harsh review. Some won’t agree. People tend to defend their purchases, even when they’re not great. I am just being honest. Just my .02

I am editing my review from 3 to 4 stars, but it's still not worth $500.00

Excellent addition to the Star Trek franchise. It’s huge, not to mention plenty of lights and sound. I never knew until I bought it that it can be hooked up to a smartphone. The characters are adorable with extra landing party equipment that can be added to them. The sound effects are awesome, just like in the original series. It was a bit high priced, but for an ultimate Star Trek fan like myself no price is too high, within reason of course.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersAs with most things Playmobil, the Enterprise is extremely well made and well thought out. The stand is extremely durable, which is a rarity on almost all Enterprise replicas made by anyone who makes them. The ship itself is built like a tank. It’s rock solid. The details are enough to make it all believable. The way the nacelles and interior features are powered is ingenious with phone jack connectors that are easy to hook up. The saucer is thicker than the original proportion to allow for the amazing bridge. The wonderful bridge makes this a trade-off well worth it. Most people don’t even realize the proportions aren’t quite correct. The electronic features are wonderful. I have the ship in my office at work, and I love the background noise it provides when you push any of the buttons. All the little beepings and whirrings are comforting. It’s like being on the bridge of the Enterprise! Very tastefully done. The price point is expensive, but the size and beautiful form factor makes it a much better value than similar Lego sets, most of which would cost 3 or 4 times as much, and still look like blocks stuck together. This is one of the most amazing Star Trek items I’ve seen come out in a long time. Once I retire, I’ll take advantage of another amazing feature that comes with this model, which is the ability to hang it from the ceiling above my Star Trek pinball machine. If you are a fan of the original USS Enterprise, NCC-1701, you will not be disappointed when you open this box.

Wow this is massive once built, really good quality and easy to assemble, the decal stickers are a little tricky but no real problem ! The lights and sounds are really good quality too, the app is okay and connection via Bluetooth works well just needs a few more options for play.
But overall it’s a really cool model/toy possibly a little overpriced.

    Excelente.

Gran nave estelar, o mejor… enorme

Golden Review Award: 10 From Our UsersSo, you are thinking about getting this bad boy for your kids? Know this, it takes about 3 hours to put together and has around 40 stickers to apply and some minor wiring to thread. It also has an app you can download for some augmented reality fun. But mostly this beast is not really meant for kids, unless by kids you mean 40+ year old Uber fans. But it is fantastic, a real centerpiece for a room, if starships make good centerpieces. I’m not sure if it is worth 499.95, but it is definitely worth the 360 I found it for on Amazon! If you have any experience with Playmobil, you know that quality is their top priority and they make their toys to last. This follows in the footsteps of their previous, and amazing Back to the Future and Ghostbusters sets. I would like to see them develop some smaller (read: affordable) sets, maybe a shuttle craft or transporter set as well as some alien adversaries (Klingons, Romulans, etc.) not to mention Next Gen and all the other series they have to mine

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersAlthough made by Playmobil this is not a toy for a child unless like me you are still a big kid. The level of detail is amazing & the sounds seem perfectly sampled from the t.v show.
The only downside is the amount of stickers you need to apply, it’s not really a downside but boy are some of them fiddly.
I loved putting it together & if you are a Trek fan well worth the price.

I’ve never owned Playmobil until now and am not disappointed.

Aside from some small scuff marks inside the saucer section (probably from loose pieces moving around) assembly and sticker application was a dream come true. The electronics work well and really enhance the experience.

I’ve literally wanted a giant (3 ft. long) Enterprise for 30 years. This set is amazing!

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI rarely write reviews but the Playmobil Enterprise is so incredible it deserves one. Playmobil has outdone themselves. The ship is huge and amazingly detailed for a playset. From the clever use of Lenticular for the bridge lift and the background in engineering, to the pulsating glow of the dilithium crystal, to the accurate rotating lights on the nacelles, this toy has it all. The lights and sounds are the perfect touch. I will admit that the decals take quite some time to apply but even they are accurate. I HIGHLY recommend this playset to any fan of STAR TREK. Sure it’s pricey, but it’s definitely worth it!

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersChe dire…. bellissima …

Golden Review Award: 14 From Our UsersLots of decals to stick on, shaky hands cause problems. Some of the connections did not set well, I’m afraid to hang it up, it loosens when picked up. If you hang it up you can’t see inside the saucer anyway. Yep, that’s about all the complaints. Do have a suggestion – Make a few clear props for the top saucer section, so it can be propped up and away from the bottom section. That way the details inside can be seen and the top saucer is also in view and not laying around somewhere to be stepped on. Could have a hinge for the engineering section also. But, I digress…. This is a massive model. Very detailed, lots of interesting items. The sound effects and lighting are very cool. This may be expensive (okay it IS) but it is a TOS fan’s dream. Very, very nice. TOS fans should not pass on it, if you can afford it.

Golden Review Award: 14 From Our UsersIt took me about two hours to put this together. There are a lot of stickers but the quality is excellent on everything. It snaps together cleanly and is quite sturdy. The sound affects and lighting are great. I have this in my office at work and everybody who comes in as shocked by how nice it is. If you are a Star Trek fan it’s easily worth the money. The Bluetooth connection to the Playmobil app is really cool as well. You can control the sound effects and lighting and volume real time if you want to. I have not figured out what to do with the AR function yet I’ll admit.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersIch bin ein Trekki-Nerd, also musst die Enterprise her.

Golden Review Award: 19 From Our UsersIch bin mit STAR TREK aufgewachsen.

Bei anderen Lizenzen (Back to the Future, Scooby Doo) muss man deutlich weniger anlegen.
