    Great way to keep the front of the console clear. Cuts down on the cables hanging on the TV stand making it tidier. And charges the controllers whilst the console is off.

    Excellent HD camera for the price amazing picture quality, and it looks pretty good to.
    The white bit at the bottom of the camera opens downwards enabling you to put it above your tv, or fold it back up and it acts as a stand.
    Nice and easy to install and use no fiddling needed.
    It is a must buy for all PS5 players to go with your collection’s.

    Very Cool To Look At.

    Perfect addition to my PS5 set up. Performs like a standard TV remote, comes with handy app shortcut buttons and most importantly it was very easy to set up and pair with my console and TV. Highly recommend as it saves having to use the PS5 controller all the time, which will help maintain battery life

    When I upgraded to a ps5(at last!..) I decided to grab these and they are a massive upgrade! The sound is so good. I was worried about the build a little bit but they seem fine after extensive use! They really work well if your playing online /Fps type games. Better than any 3rd party headset I’ve had with a wire to controller which breaks very easy.

    So, its been almost a year now since I got these and can share a bit of feedback.

    1. Absolutely no signs of wear despite they have few days worth of gaming already logged
    2. Sound is crisp and good, no deterioration over time. 7.1 helps in FPS games like COD
    3. Party and general volume control from the headset itself – massive pros
    4. Good battery life. I can probably get away with 3-4 evening of play (3-4hrs each) without charging then
    5. Fast charge via usb-c

    Now not so pretty things:
    1. Got ps5 , ps5 controller and allegedly PS5 premium headset (being the one you reading review for). This headset needs usb dongle plugged to you console to have BT connection . This is just nuts that ps5 dedicated headset need BT adapter in order to link with your brand new ps5 console
    2. Mute button on controller – want to mute yourself during party ? You are absolutely ok to do it, but from the headset (left ear pad). Why? Because controller does not support it via BT. If you want to have mute button enabled on your controller than you more than welcome to use 3.5mm jack cable to link your controller with headset. This is also unreal. I thought this would have been patched with first major PlayStation5 update. You guessed it – it didn’t happen.

    It is still an awesome piece of kit for the money if you had more expensive gaming headsets before however I am unable to rate it 5 stars due to 2 significant issues I have mentioned above. If it could do everything wirelessly same as via jack cable it would have been strong recommendation. If you are bothered about dongle and muting yourself from the headset itself then it’s not really for you. If you don’t or don’t mind using jack connection then you will be more than happy with it. I rate it for it’s durability and overall sound experience.

    The build quality and sound are excellent, particularly the voice processing on the hidden mics which makes sure you come through load and clear even when the rest of the room is not quiet. The integration with the PS5 itself is also top notch – I haven’t used other headsets but the hardware buttons for adjusting game vs chat volume are great and the onscreen feedback is very responsive. And the battery lasts longer than I do on a session.

    Only two minor issues: firstly, the ear ups are a little bit small for me – more on-ear than over-ear, but the padding is super thick so it’s fine. Secondly, the USB dongle that you use for connection kept cutting out when it was in the ports at the back of the PS5 and putting it in the port on the front is ugly as all get out, and I was always convinced someone would catch it with their leg walking by. I ended up getting a short USB extension lead and running it from the back port to just tucking the dongle under the front corner of the PS5.

    As a Brit, we express ourselves in a few way. Depending on the length, sound, loudness and the added words at the end of the phase, it tells you everything you need to know about our thoughts on something. For example, in this example the phrase is “bloody hell” and I’ve added “wow. I said it in a shocked and loud tone. And lengthens it out. I was very happy with this.

    It’s not every day that you buy a headset which blows your mind away. I mean, it’s not every day that you buy a headset in the first place and when you do, you generally expect something good but this has gone far and beyond. As soon as I set it up and played the first song on my YouTube work playlist. I stoped working and just froze in the amazement of the sound which where coming out of these. It almost felt magical? Tech should not be magical, it should be scientific and logical but as soon as I heard the first few notes which eased its way into my ears, my brain froze with the only phrase popping in to mind being “bloody hell” follows by “wow” a good few seconds after. I heard great things about this but it’s not only until you use em do you realise that thease are pretty impressive. Don’t get me wrong, if you spend another 200 something quid, you might find some that out does this. But for the price, this will really blow your mind away. I’m excited to to go through my playlist and listen to all my favourites songs through this headphones. I can’t explain it other then say that it’s magic. I don’t know how Sony did it but they are really giving you something worth every penny.

    On top of all of that, they are bloody well comfortable. You put them on, you would not even think that you had them on. I can’t even explain this. But they are light as light. It’s honestly something amazing. If you have someone that you know that has thease, try it out, coz you are gonna wanna buy em. My works can’t do this justice. They really can’t. All I can say is, I don’t think I’ve ever recommended something as much as I recommend this in my life. This is one of my best purchased. Soo good, that I’m being forced by my desire to let the world know how amazing it is by writing this review. I genuinely needed to be prompted by Amazon to write one but not for this. I don’t even think I can go back to my AirPods again and they cost a crap ton more then this. This is bloody amazing. I bloody well recommend this. Out of 10 bloodies, I give it 11 bloodies. This blew my expectations out of the water. Thank you Sony for creating such a magnificent product at such a decent price.

    Constantly echos, doesn’t matter how high or low your settings. Tried everything! The mic just sucks. Got it low enough to not hear the echo but that is because it was too low to hear anything! Will not recommend for that and am currently in search of a better pai

    Bought this headset for my ps5 after my turtle beach packed up. I’ve had a PlayStation headset before on my PS4 and wasn’t that impressed by how limited it was but have to say this one is incredible the sound quality is amazing and is super comfortable on your head and ears. I forget I have it on sometimes. Charging time is quick and get a good few hours on a single charge. Takes a little getting used to where the buttons are. I kept pressing the wrong buttons for the volume.

    The frame feels a little plasticky but the sound is great. They’re not as comfy as my Bose QuietComfort headphones but they cost over 350.

    First off, if you happen to get these free, then they’re an awesome product and they work on both PS5 and PS4. As with most PS products that use a USB dongle, my previous Sony platinum headset stopped working and you cant buy the dongle separately, so thought rather than paying another 150 pair of platinum headset id get these, they were cheaper and newer. So i thought they would be better. First off, they are much more comfortable to wear than the platinums, but thats where the improvements end. The sound output is much better on the platinum as is the quality of microphone and battery life. The 3D audio when compared to the platinums 7.1 sound is nowhere near as good. Unfortunately as with the platinum, you need to use a Bluetooth dongle. Why u need to use dongles when the PS has bluetooth capability, leads me to belive its just a money making scam, the dongles dont last long and you cant buy them separately.
    So overall i would say if your looking to buy these, pay the little bit extra and get the much superior PS Platinum headset.

    I was a bit apprehensive about the 89.99 price for these headphones, but they’re worth every penny, clear crisp sound, easy to set up, and IMO they look awesome. The mic quality is exceptional once you get the hang of all the different buttons on the headset itself haha. And also they’re incredibly comfortable, only had them on for 2 hours but after I took them off there were no uncomfortable feelings or anything, would definitely recommend!!

  44. ChongLenihan says:

    Got these with my ps5 and they are excellent for gaming with friends. The internal mic means your friends only hear you rather than your gameplay and you. The setting to switch volume between audio and speech is also something I’ve not come across on other headsets. They are comfortable, look great and the sound quality is excellent, only downside is the battery only lasts about 5-6 hours, for me this is a session and a half so providing I plug them in overnight there’s no issue.

    I bought this to replace my old headset, it’s decent. Sound quality is great, it’s loud enough that I don’t need to have it at max, Unlike the PS4 official headset.
    The only downside is that sometimes when playing competitive games online sound in front came sound like it’s coming from behind and vise versa, I found this while playing hunt showdown not sure if it happens with other games didn’t notice it on apex.
    I do however recommend this headset battery lasts for ages I rarely need to charge it while playing.

    These have been designed to work with the PS5 and they give the most amazing sound quality in game great for chatting in activities as you can adjust chat level and sound effects, to suit your needs, you can spend a lot more and maybe get a little bit more performance but I’m an ex engineer that worked for a successful audio company and am an older user so anyone over thirty your hearing range starts to decline so there is absolutely no point in paying 200 hundred 300hundred pounds on headphones these are simply a awesome bit of ki

    Any comments or criticisms I have must consider the price point also. There are a LOT of headsets far more expensive than these, and most aren’t cordless either. Sound quality is excellent, although for my tastes a little too bass heavy.

    It was designed to be used with consoles such as the PS4/PS5 and does so flawlessly, you just plug in the dongle and that’s it, no settings or configurations need to be done. That being said, it also comes with a MINI TRS cable to use with other devices, and sadly that’s where it loses a star. If you plug it into an iPhone or iPad, Siri keeps on thinking you’re asking for something when you aren’t, and that becomes incredibly annoying, prompting you to turn off the mic entirely. I honestly don’t see why these weren’t made with Bluetooth, which would have been far more useful.

    The mic side of the headset is great also, no one ever hears your voice distorting during a voice chat. Battery life is also impressive, so again for the price point, these are actually fantastic. at 90 it’s difficult to make too much of an issue out of my criticisms.

    I bought this for streaming. The sound is great and the mic sounded clear on playback. It also handles background noise reduction very well.
    The only minor annoyance is that it needs an adapter to connect to the console, I intended to leave it in the back port but unless its in the front port you lose sound for a few seconds every now and again. After googling it seems this is a fairly common issue.

    Excellent sound quality, look and feel great and are comfortable to wear. The sound quality is brilliant for gaming, and compared to other wireless headsets the price isn’t too bad. Microphone built into headset, so can’t imagine it would be very good, but I don’t use the mic much.

    There’s a couple of things I’d like to make clear before continuing on with the review. The first thing is to anyone reading this who’s thinking of buying this headset. You don’t need this headset to make use Sony’s 3D audio engine as that’s handled by the console and not the headset. This is something i wish I’d knew whilst searching for a new headset to go with my PS5 as it would have greatly increased available options. I’d also like to state that in no way am i an expert and there are people better qualified to review this product. You can finds reviews on YouTube and many written reviews by simply using your search engine of choice. Let’s get on with the review shall we.

    comfort: this headset is very comfortable i have how could i put this larger than normal ears and yet i still find then rather comfortable. My head also whilst not the biggest is still quite the cranium yet this headset remains very comfortable in gaming sessions 4 plus hours long. Its been very hot as of late and still the ear cups don’t stick to my ears or the side of my head like others have in the past so overall very comfortable.

    Accessibility and features: The Pulse 3D Wireless headset volume control is handled with a dual rocker located on the left ear cup. Making adjusting the volume as easy as scatching your head. There’s also another dual rocker located on the left ear cup to balance game vs chat audio mixing. You will find a USB C port for charging a 3.5mm headset jack for a wired connection and a power switch which is also located on the left earcup. I found it better to turn on your headset before putting it on as it can bit a bit fiddly. I found the best way to locate the power switch is to hold the headset with the headband pointing inwards towards your torso and the power switch will be visible slightly above and to the right of the white surround. Just a quick tip for those eager to experience great sound even if a bit to hastily. The headset connects to the PS5 by way of a USB dongle receiver. I’d also like to point out that when using the headset through a wired connection it draws power from your controller 3D audio is also disabled whilst using a wired connection. The headset has a built in microphone which i have not used personally but during a 3 hour long gaming session with my friend there was zero complaints on his side. That been said If having a great microphone on your headset is a must I’d read some expert reviews as i personally haven’t used the microphone so i can’t give an accurate assessment as to how it performs.

    Audio: The Pulse 3d wireless headset provides clear and crisp audio that’s provided by 40mm neodymium drivers. They are smaller than what can be found in other premium headsets but the sound nevertheless is still great crisp and clear. The Pulse 3D Wireless headset provides good audio regardless if 3D audio is enabled or not. The virtual audio is handed quite well better in some games than others. I do feel that’s more down to the game than the headset though. I’ve found it at times a bit harder than i like to pinpoint the enemies location but there’s also been times where its came in very useful the tables have turned and the Predator became the prey.

    Aesthetics & battery life

    The Pulse 3D Wireless Headset is aesthetically pleasing with the black ear cups and white headband matching the look of the PS5 perfectly. The headset also has a rubber support band that makes the headset adjustable even with the absence of moving parts. The Pulse 3D Wireless headset looks absolutely fantastic. I’ve found the headset to have a decent battery life and is good enough for a my daily 4-5 hour gaming sessions but if you simply can’t turn off that new game of yours then it will last longer upwards of around 10 hours maybes longer.

    Conclusion: The Pulse 3D Wireless Headset is a fantastic piece if kit for the price at 89.99 your getting a wireless headset with a built in microphone that’s capable of taking advantage of Sony’s new Tempest 3D audio its also easy on the eye. There are better headsets on the market but for this price i don’t think its possible to find another headset of this calibre. Whether you’re sprinting through space guns blazing, a Knight trying to the save people from the demon scurge, or swinging through the city whilst putting the fear of god into any criminal stupid enough to try their luck, Sonys new headset has you covered. What are you waiting for there’s a reason these were sold out both you and your new console deserve this.

    It has been an impressive product.
    The sound is crystal clear for the price point.
    Wireless works for both MAC/PC, obviously for PS5 (haven’t tried tho)
    Dolby atomos is super nice.
    Charging status is only confusing part, because often im not sure if it’s charging, but I think I get how it works now.

    I mostly bought this to use with Rocksmith as the latency through HDMI of PS5 made the game unplayable. This almost completely solves the issue manning the game playable. I’ve only used it on one other game and it was pretty amazing sound wise. Very comfortable too. If I was to have a gripe it would be trying to remember what buttons do what when wearing it. All the buttons seems to be all on the left ear piece and in close proximity. If they put some buttons on the right ear spreading them out more it would be easier to find the correct button just by touch.

    Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersVery comfortable and dont feel like they wish to crush ones ears into ones skull, like some others do, wearing them for 5 hrs and no urge to adjust or remove them is ones current experience , the sound from games is crystal clear , identifying whereabout a particular in-game sound came from is accurate, and the ‘external to gaming’ microphone that allows you to hear outside of your gaming experience to be able to give the correct answers to a partners questioning potentially saves lots of after-gaming commitment conversation.. and if the doorbell rings you will hear it too, it can be switched off if dont want to answer questions or doorbells

    The ps5 headset is the best ive used (And ive tried most turtle beach sets) Its truly comforable and lighyweight…the quality of your voice to others and the sound of the game/others is amazing. The adjustments you can do to customise game volume towards game chat is great too.

    I bought this head set for my husband birthday which is in 2 days.. obviously as soon as he saw them he had to try them!
    He is in love and so happy and so am I!
    We’re waiting for ps5 to come in but at the moment he is playing with PS4.
    He plays at WarZone and he was happy to hear the right side shut down for a bit to suggest him another player was going toward him from left side
    What can I say? Happy to see him happy and enjoying his birthday gif

    Fantastic sound, clean & crisp but most of all! Far better made & constructed than the previous Sony Gold (PS4) headset (That you can still use on the PS5) But the Sony Gold headset are notorious for breaking apart, especially on the top headband where the foam would come away! Where as these new Sony PS5 Pulse headset does not have that problem, far better in terms of build & quality. The sound is great & very comfortable on the head & ears with no ear ache…If you have a PS5 console you will definitely need this headset to match (They go hand in hand) together.

    Easy to setup, decent sound and mic quality for the price

    Due to the lack of rotation on the cups people with glasses may find that the headphones cause the legs of glasses to dig in around the ear. Best fix I’ve found is to wear a beanie or something similar to help ease the pressure.

    Let’s not forget how cheap those are compared to other headphones. They connect with your PS5 so easily. You only insert your USB plug and the job is done. Yes they are not blooth so won’t work with your phone wirelessly, but still, they were designed for you to use it with your PS5 and they do just that.

    Love them!

    This headset was a very pleasant and surprising digital accessory to my PS5. It plays the sound crisp and realistically in a 3D manner, even better than my high-end surround sound set. You’ll hear the sound from the direction it is coming, adding a very welcome new dimension to gaming. I agree, this is really how games were made to sound. Along with the enhanced force feedback controls its makes most games even more immersive – those are really the most notable upgrades that came with the PS5, if you ask me. And this 3D sound feature will be even more spectacular when the new PS5 VR set will be released.
    The headset switches on and off between the Playstation very neatly with the sound coming through without delay. The headset is not bluetooth based, which doesn’t surprise me as my much more upscale Bose/Apple blu tooth headsets don’t work well with the receiver when watching movies or playing games – they produce a lag. The only consequence is that this PS5 headset comes with a transmitter that requires an USB slot. The hidden microphones are probably a plus as well. But frankly I like to play my games in solitude. And I can’t stand online games with others. While my children are too young to use that function. So in terms of functionality the headset is simply brilliant and pretty good. Although one drawback is that it lacks noise cancellation – so my gaming sessions continue to be interrupted by my annoying children, or worse, by my wife’s musings about mundane household issues while I’m chasing digital trophy’s!.

    Now with respect to aesthetics and comfort, the headset scores less good – It wears well, though only for a limited amount of time, say 90 minutes. It is slightly heavy, and my other headsets are much more comfortable to wear for the entire day if necessary. My 7 year old finds it too heavy, loose fitting and too warm when he wears it, which is often (he has to when playing his video games). The padding is soft but not as soft as my Bose headset. Moreover it doesn’t wear tightly round the head you’ll sit with a silly white plastic halo. Lastly, the headset is large and bulky – you can’t fold it up.
    So I can’t appreciate the style and appearance too much. To start with, the Playstation 5 is quite an aesthetic abomination in itself. I don’t understand why and how Sony for the past 30 years has consistently managed to desecrate my living room with these unsightly and structurally odd shaped game consoles (I pray the PS6 is a subtle, slim, brushed-metal rectangular box, with a miniscule Sony logo). The headset it only a little better. Though with big its round black pads and white plastic parts it resembles the headsets from a cheap 1970’s science fiction movie.

    To conclude for the 89 price you get a medium quality, not so good looking and impractical headset, that however adds a quite lot to the gaming experience – the latter is obviously what counts most. So still 4 stars.

    Great for gaming, but comes with some issues

    I was very sceptical at first.
    Also I am the type of person that will never pay over RRP so when Amazon got these back in stock, I decided to treat myself as I have done much research on these.

    I have major trouble with headsets in general, i need to wear headsets that are circumaural (headsets that incase your ears) as if I wear headsets where the ear section rests on my ears, after an hour or so, I find that the cartilage in my ears really start to hurt and become sore.

    I was using my Corsair void pro wireless headset on my PS5 but it was doing my head in that I had to keep bringing it down and disconnecting it from my PC.

    I was worried these wouldn’t be as comfortable or as good sound quality but took the chance.

    These hands down beat my Corsair for sound quality. Playing Monster Hunter world Icebourne, I can literally hear the snow breaking and compressing under my foot steps. (I know) I have used all range and manner of headsets over the years, comprising of turtle beach, Corsair and more and I have to give it to Sony, they have got it right with this headset.

    They aren’t as comfortable to wear as my Corsairs and I do slightly feel like they are applying pressure to my head behind my ears but this isn’t to a point where I cannot use it, and may even get better with use.

    I have used these for a good 2-3 hour sessions and they have been fine.

    The two mics are brilliant and my friends have no issues hearing me ether.

    I bought these to go with my new PS5 as an upgrade to my turtle beach headset which is on its last legs.

    The sound quality on playback is really good, and the noise cancelling aspect of it seems good.

    The only issue I have with this headset is the 2 hidden mics – The quality of the voice audio is not as good compared to headsets with a boom mic.. It sounds a little bit muffled.

    I only use my headset for party chat (and for work), so for this reason I cannot give it a 5* review and will be returning these as not as good as I need them to be.

    Very good headset, with great functionality for use with the PS5 (volume rocker for game audio or voice chat audio, volume indicated on ps5 when turning up or down, mute button on headset and indicator on ps5, quick connection with sound returning to tv immediately after turning off headset). The 3d sound is fantastic, and although this is the first time I have experienced 3d audio when gaming, I feel like the quality and atmosphere it creates makes games more immersive and fun. Also, they are comfortable!

    I am really happy with the headset. However if I had to give one drawback, it would be that it doesnt have bluetooth. I would love to be able to quickly connect it to my phone to listen to music. Having said that, I bought this headset solely for gaming on my ps5 so I highly recommend if you are thinking of buying.

    Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI have had my eye on these since before the PS5 launched but I wasn’t quick enough off the mark so missed out on the first lot.

    Upon them coming back into stock a few days ago I decided to jump in, and seeing that reviews have generally been favourable I was looking forward to them.

    On the whole I have not been disappointed but upon unboxing them I was slightly surprised. Although they are clearly trying to follow the aesthetic of the PS5 itself, I find them pretty ugly and a bit dorkish in comparison to my Steelseries Arctis 7 headset.

    Generally they feel well built, if a bit on the plasticky side, but they are comfortable. I’ve used them for many hours and can confidently say they stay comfortable even for extended hours.

    Slightly suspect looks aside, performance is where it’s at and they definitely do not disappoint. The first game I tried with this headset was Demon’s Souls, as I understood that this was designed with the 3D audio in mind. When I first started playing I have to admit to being a bit underwhelmed with the directional audio, but over time as I got more “tuned in” to the soundscape I started to notice a lot more sounds, specifically background sounds that may not have stood out through our soundbar. Sound has good depth with enough bass to be punchy, but not overwhelming. Depth is also fantastic, being able to hear multiple levels of sound clearly, and concisely. It is also possible to hear the actual direction of sounds, so in games such as Demon’s Souls you know whether an enemy is above, below or to the left or right of you.

    Performance has been equally as good in other games – I’ve also tried them with plays on Sackboy’s Big Adventure, God of War, Control and Destruction Allstars. In each game the headset performs excellently, always delivering clarity and a good approximation of surround sound in games such as God of War that don’t support 3D audio.

    I haven’t used them for voice chat, so I can’t comment on how good the microphone is I’m afraid, as I don’t use the voice chat feature when gaming online, but I can say that the noise cancelling feature is very good – I can barely hear any background noise at all when using the headphones.

    I originally bought the headset as a way to play games later on a night to not disturb anyone, but I’m finding that they are now actually my preferred way to play.

    For 90 they aren’t the cheapest set of headphones around, nor are they the most expensive and for the price the sound quality is excellent, very balanced and so far have not heard any distortion in games. If you can get past the slightly ugly appearance and round earcups, which might not not suit everyone, they are a great accompaniment to PS5 games, especially for games that make use of 3D audio!

    Looks great, sounds great, feels a bit cheap, microphone is utter garbage. Feeling let down and robbed to be honest. The microphone sounds like I’m holding my hand in-front of my mouth, it really is that muffled. I then swapped back to my 18 headset and my friends all said they could hear me clearly again. Going to contact Amazon about returning these, such a shame as they sound great.

    EDIT: I’ve since bought a PS5 and all the issues I had were resolved. It does work with PS4 but it’s made doe the PS5 and works perfectly when paired as such.

    The 3d audio is decent and they sound above average for headphones, only issue is if you wear glasses they are pretty uncomfortable.

    Side note if you don’t use the dongle and use the headphone jack instead you can’t use 3D audio and it’ll become regular stereo

  77. JacquesLogan says:

    Good product, it is nice not having the mic in front of you but from people’s opinions in party chat, my voice is not very clear compared to my other pairs of headphones.

    They are still very tight on my head, even after moderate usage and the adjustment is not as simple as it would be on say a pair of turtle beaches.

    It is a great looking piece, which matches the console well but I find after a couple of hours of game play I have to take them off.

    The 3D sound is exceptional, you really do feel immersed into the game. Out of 5 I would rate the following:

    Game sound – 5
    Comfort – 2
    Mic – 2
    Looks – 5

    Personally, I would have preferred to have been able to try this on before buying, but given the preorder’s and the current pandemic this wasn’t possible. If I had the choice again, I’m not sure what I would do. The sound is very good, but at the moment it is still very tight. Fingers crossed it gets better 🙂

    I don’t really have much to complain about the headphones. They aren’t the most high quality headphones in the world, but they work, and they’re definitely better than the majority of no name branded ps5 headphones. The only issue I have is with the availability of these. Personally, I think every ps5 should have had the option to come with one of these rather than having them purchasable as a seperate item.

    Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersDisclaimer, these aren’t top-end 300-500 headphones, they lack the super soft sheepskin leather with plush memory foam that sits so softly against your ears and they don’t command quite the same presence in playback of audio. HOWEVER.

    What these headphones are… for 80, is something you would expect to pay 200-250 for in the consumer space, they are EXCEPTIONAL value for money:

    – Audio is crisp, clear and balanced, the familiar sound profile is practically a Sony trademark.
    – Low latency custom wireless protocol.
    – Build quality, style and attention to detail is excellent (especially the microscopic X, Y, Square and Circle symbols embedded in the plastic).
    – The sprung headband keeps these incredibly light on your head, even if the ears are a little tight.
    – Noise cancelling microphones.
    – 3D Audio that works well with the PS5 (I could roughly distinguish to 45 degrees the source of audio, I expect this will get better over time as the PS5 algorithm and ear profile collection grows).
    – USB-C charging.

    Downsides:
    – No Bluetooth, cable or Wireless USB Dongle only.
    – Ears can feel a little tight, better than entry-level solutions but not quite soft leather and memory foam offerings.
    – 3D audio may not work for everyone.

    OK, there are a few, very minor, down-sides and the bass response could perhaps be a little richer, but for 80, wow you get a lot of headphone, only those with very deep pockets would turn their nose up at these and, not by much.

    Bought to use with my new PS5 but arrived a week earlier so tried it out with my Xbox One X first. Impressed with the sound quality when connected via cable to the Xbox controller.
    When the PS5 arrived I got a chance to try out the headset wirelessly and to enjoy Sony’s new Tempest 3D audio technology. Really impressed with this headset! Really comfortable, great sound, good quality mics and the 3D sound really does sound encompassing. Good value compared to other headsets too.

    Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersSo far okay but couple of issues.

    Sound quality, controls and volume levels all good. Go far louder than anyone needs and love the ability to change game/chat balance on the fly. There’s also a monitor feature so you can hear yourself in the headset which is actually quite subtle and just enough to stop you shouting too much, and let’s you hear when your Mrs calls for you…if you have the on that is.

    Faults then.
    Microphone is passable but my mate said I sounded like I was on speakerphone. Having someone watching TV in the room at the same time probably wasn’t helping the noise cancelling out too much. But we did chat away and he could hear so not a huge issue, just not as good as the boom mic on my old headset.

    The earcups. They are comfy enough and are the overear type. Problem is they are just a fraction too small. So my ear is sort of slightly squashed top to bottom. Combined with the tight fit of the headset, which does seem to be easing (breaking in a bit) this does mean my first session was not as comfy as I’d like. But I m getting used to them so hopefully won’t be a big issue going forward.

    Bad bits: Bit on the expensive side, sad it can’t be used as a Bluetooth headphone set too, I don’t like the usb dongle needed to make it wireless: Why could this not be built in to the ps5 instead? It’s a bit sad this doesn’t have the nice nano PlayStation icons grip texture all over it – its only on the inner band but at least it is where it is needed I suppose.

    Good bits: It made me smile to discover they can stand up by themselves – I like that kind on simplicity and easy functioning. They could fall if, say a table was wobbled but should be okay otherwise to stand independantly. The sound quality is a nice experience but maybe a bit too early to tell. As I am slightly deaf in one ear, maybe I am not the best to judge. It worked well so far – I use them not to disturb others at home that could be sleeping or working. It’s lightweight and comfortable and would probably benefit to match a psvr headset. I prefer using speakers and subwoofers to feel the base and gravity of dramatic music, but this is a great compromise when they can’t be used.

    Enjoy!

    They stand up by themselves! That wowed me.

    Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersI received these ahead of the PS5, however they work as intended on PS4 and PC. Sound quality is very clear and makes some sounds audible that other headsets won’t pick up on (this might be due the PS4’s software feature). It will be interesting to hear how they work with the PS5’s 3D sound, although I’m under the impression you can use any headset for this feature to work. What I like about this headset is the controls it has to tweak chat and game volumes without having to go to the console menu. It also doesn’t have a boom mic protruding from it so you won’t accidentally knock it and it shouldn’t pick up on your breathing.

    The ear cups appear to made from a soft leather so these will get damaged easily so be careful with them. You can buy ear cup protectors or replacement ear cups so it’s not the end if they do take damage.
    I haven’t had a long gaming session with these but they do seem to be comfortable as the materials which have contact with your head are soft and the headset is very light.

    For its price this is a very good and up to date pair of headphones for gaming and should remain relevant for the duration of the PS5’s lifespan and is compatible with other devices which adds value.

    Having now used this with the PS5, I’m still happy with the headset, however 3D audio is not all its hyped up to be. If you’ve used any headsets with virtual surround sound, 5.1, 7.1, SBX etc then you will know what to expect.

    Golden Review Award: 99 From Our UsersIntroduction

    The PULSE 3D Headset was primarily made to go alongside the launch of the PlayStation 5. This is an official Sony headset and is “fine-tuned” to work best with the PS5 featuring ‘3D Audio’ with games that support it. With that said, it is compatible with other devices such as:
    * PlayStation 4 (Wired & Wireless).
    * PC/Laptop (Wireless).
    * MP3 Players/Smartphones (Device must have an AUX port).

    The headset is NOT Bluetooth, so if you are hoping to use these with your smartphone via Bluetooth, you will be sorely disappointed as It connects via a wireless adaptor (USB Dongle).

    The main features of this headset are:
    * 3D Audio (Limited to PS5).
    * Dual hidden microphones.
    * Rechargeable battery.
    * Easy-access headset controls.
    * Side-tone (microphone monitoring).

    Box Contents

    * PULSE 3D headset.
    * Wireless adaptor.
    * USB-A to USB-C cable (for charging).
    * Audio cable.
    * Instruction manual.

    Design & Build Quality

    Like all other official PS5 accessories, Sony are keeping the colour theme in-line with PS5 console with a white matte finish on the headband and everything else is a matte black. The matte finish is great as it’s not as much of a finger-print magnet like gloss black.

    I genuinely love how the headset looks from the front and back, though I’m still unsure of the design choice in regards to the headband as it curves around the ear-cups; I think it’s slowly growing on me but certainly not something I liked the look of when I first saw it.

    Build-quality is questionable… Whilst I love how lightweight the headset is, the components feel borderline cheap as it feels like cheap plastic. At the same time, it doesn’t feel like it’s going to suddenly break/snap, so here’s to hoping they will last!

    Set-Up & Using

    First of all make sure you have given the headset a decent charge before you use them.

    Once charged this headset is very straight-forward to set-up as they are pretty much plug-in and play:
    1) Plug the wireless adaptor into your PS5/PS4 USB port.
    2) Turn on your console and log-in to your user.
    3) Flick the power switch on the headset so it turns on.
    4) The console should automatically detect the headset. If it doesn’t, go into your device settings and ensure it has been selected.

    When using the headset wirelessly, you will need to adjust two different volume settings on the headset:
    1) Volume (this is the OVERALL volume).
    2) Chat – Game (this is the audio level ratio between incoming chat and game audio).
    I typically press ‘Game’ on the headset several times, then I press ‘+’ on the volume before adjusting the ratio.

    If you can hear your teammates but not the game audio, most likely you will need to adjust the ratio by pressing ‘Game’ a couple of times. If vice versa, do the opposite.

    There are some other quick access buttons available on the headset:
    * Microphone mute button (A quick way to mute your microphone should you not want people to hear you).
    * Microphone monitoring (When enabled, you will hear what your microphones pick up so you can hear yourself when talking).

    If you have run out of charge or for some reason want to use it wired, connect the headset to your DualSense or DualShock 4 controller via the included audio cable. If no game audio comes out of the headset, make sure the audio output is on ‘All Audio’ not ‘Chat Only’. Note that when using the headset via wire, you won’t be able to use the functions on the side of the headset.

    Comfort & Sound Quality

    I’ve had some long gaming sessions whilst using these (6 hours+) and they are mostly comfortable but I do find that after a couple of hours, I can feel a slight of pressure underneath my ears which causes a minor amount of discomfort. I think this is due to the fact you don’t adjust the headset by moving the earcups or headband to your size, instead the headset features a inner suspender headband that adjusts to your headset but it’s a little loose so doesn’t lock into position exactly how you want it.

    The audio quality is brilliant! Considering at the time of writing this review I have been using it with the PS4 as they PS5 isn’t out and I am pleased with the results. The audio is fairly well balanced and makes it really easy to hear footsteps in Call of Duty (very important); dialogue is clear, gunfire sounds good and the bass from explosions is decent but not overwhelming.

    I also use these to listen to music be it on Spotify on the console or with my MP3 player and like a variety of different genres so it’s nice to have a headset that delivers music clearly no matter what genre.

    I had asked my friends to give me feedback on the microphone, they stated they could clearly understand me when talking through the microphone, however, it became very apparent that it also picked up other noises too easily and very loudly. Something as simple as me handling a chocolate wrapper, my friends suffered with an earful of noise (my previous headset did not pick these sounds up so easily). The microphones are supposed to be noise-cancelling but that’s more ambient noise, so bare that in mind when using these.

    Battery life is expected to be around 12 hours at mid-volume, so may vary depending on how loudly you have the headset set at. With it being USB-C, you can expect the charging time to be decent and if you have a long enough cable you can use whilst charging.

    I also would like to add that the wireless range on these are pretty good too as I was able to walk in the kitchen and remain full connectivity whilst talking with my friends.

    Final Thoughts

    Whilst there are a couple of flaws, the PULSE 3D headset is generally a very good headset, especially as it has an RRP of 89.99 which I think is a fair price for what you get.

    If you are in the market for a wireless headset with guaranteed PS5 compatibility or are wanting a PS4 headset that’s futureproof, then I would definitely recommend these.

    Pros:
    Wireless and backwards compatible with the PS4.
    Easy to set-up and use.
    Well-balanced audio quality.
    Microphone monitoring is a great feature.
    Decent wireless range.
    Good battery life.

    Neutral:
    – Long term comfort is questionable.
    – Build quality is not overly great but at least it feels durable enough.

    Cons:
    Microphone can pick up too much sound.
    If wireless adaptor is lost, you cannot get a replacement.

    These are a mystery to me they feel like cheap plastic but the sound quality is really good maybe not true 3d sound maybe 2.5 as some claim but when I used them in just cause 3 on ps4 jumping out the helicopter was beautiful I could hear the wind around me and gunfire echoes in places I really likening them my only gripe was how cheap plastic they feel but that could be a light strong plastic for all I know. Price seemed a big high too maybe a 70 or 80 but I dont know how much time and money was spent developing them but I’m very happy . Golden Review Award: 15 From Our UsersI purchased this headset to use for my PS5 (when/if it finally arrives!) due to the next gen “3D audio” elements that this headset has compared to my Turtle Beach. It is compatible with the PS4 consoles, but not many games have 3D audio on the PS4 so I wasn’t able to test this out. The sound is extremely good quality, perfect for hearing footsteps on Warzone and giving you incredible crowd noise in FIFA (these are the only two games I’ve tried this out on so far!). The microphone is fantastic and has really good noise cancelling technology that I tested out while I was waiting for my friends to come online. The option to hear yourself on the mic as well is really good. The controls on the headset are well positioned but will take a bit of getting used to as there are quite a few of them (mute mic, chat/game sound control to prioritise one or the other, master volume, and another button so you can hear yourself), especially compared to my old Turtle Beach. I think this is so you don’t have to keep opening menus on the console itself. The headset is also SUPER comfy, like it feels like you have two pillows on your ears. It’s not too heavy either so feels really comfy on your head. My TB used to hurt my ears after a long session of gaming, which didn’t happen with this headset. Overall, really really good headset and well worth the money in my opinion. Cannot wait to see how the 3D audio works on the PS5!

    I just received the Sony Pulse 3D headphones and wanted to give my initial impressions.
    I cannot review the 3D sound until I hopefully receive my PS5 next week.
    First impressions – the box is nice and packaged well. Out the box I was surprised that it felt fairly cheap, the sort of cheap plastic you find on lower costing products but I guess the feel is secondary to the main reason you would purchase these for…… The sound. I tried it out with a few PS4 games and the sound is good. I think from all the reviews I watched, I was expecting some amazing full bodied sound but it was the same as some of the other headphones I have used. I tend to plug in my Sony wh-1000xm2 and found they sound better but that may be due to originally costing 3 times as much! I guess I will have to wait until I can fully test out the 3D sound to hear its full potential. But for those on the dense out spending 90 pounds on some new headphones…. I would say for now, it’s probably the same as what you already may be using. If this would be your first headphones for gaming, I would say, if its not going to be paired with a PS5, then save some money and get something a little cheaper. I will update my review when I get a chance to properly test it out wirh the PS5.

    Amazing sound.......maybe we will have to wait for that!

    Exceptional build quality as one would expect from Sony.

    User friendly controls which are not hard to work out.

    This headset is light and once you put it on you don’t realise its there, very comfortable.

    Audio quality is impressive and is very clear and precise. The hidden microphones are a welcome addition which keep the microphone quality.

    I will update this review further when I test them on the PS5

    Nice and clear sound, feel of the head set doesn’t feel very well made. It’s a little too light and doesn’t feel like it’s built as much as the cost of the item suggests.

    It does deliver good sound. Volume doesn’t go too high though, so if you like hearing medium volume then it’s great. The buttons on the sides of the earphones are a little stiff and not a joy to press.

    Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersSounds great on the PS4 ,played cod with it and fifa 21 and they all sounded good.
    The mute button is easy to find with your left hand.

    I tried it with some movies and it sounds better then the PS4 headset.

    It sits much lighter on the head and it don’t push into your ears as much as the PS4 headset did or PS3 wireless headset.

    I can’t wait to try the 3D audio out when my PS5 comes

    Golden Review Award: 199 From Our UsersHeadset is beautiful , it’s not too heavy and is very comfortable on the ears. In the box is the following: The headset, the wireless receiver, a USB charging cable, an audio cable if you prefer a wired connection and instructions.

    The headset has 2 hidden microphones, so no more mics getting the way or having to fold them out the way aswell. The headset seems very well made aswell. It’s strong plastic and has an auto adjustable inner rubber strap (see pic) which adjusts to the shape of your head for maximum hold and comfort.

    The speakers sit on the outside of the ear and when I put them on just to see how they fit, I noticed they reduced alot of the outside noise. This is promising for gaming as when sound is coming through the speakers, you know you won’t be interrupted by background noise. These are built for optimal gaming sound. They feel soft and spongy and have a leather style outer material. They are really soft and comfortable on the ears. The headsets are made with 3D audio aswell. If your not sure what this means, to put it simply, say for example your playing a game and your sat on a chair for example and someone walks all the way around you. The speakers will play the sound as it would sound in real life with the footsteps moving around you rather than just blasting it directly into your ears, the sound “moves” as it does in real life. The speakers will be immerse you in the game and it allows you to hear everything and what direction it’s coming from. It really is brilliant.

    As for the price 89.99 is really fair for the quality. Alot of people were expecting this to be much higher priced but Sony have done good with the prices of the accessories. It really is worth picking one of these up to go with your amazing new PS5 (I can’t wait for mine to arrive, only 1 week to go! )

    Thank you for taking the time to read my review and I hope this was helpful to you
