Brilliant piece of kit!
Plug and play, I now have three screens and no messing with headphone receivers, keyboard usb etc etc
I like this horizontal version with its low profile and the inclusion of a USB-C connecting cable. The upright version does not have the USB-C cable. Had an issue immediately after I installed the Displaylink software as requested and connected the docking station to my laptop. The laptop starts and when it gets to the Dell logo, it stays and hangs. I have no choice but to turn the laptop off and restart the laptop without the docking station connection and reconnect it after the laptop starts. After that everything works fine. I submitted a request to Plugable Technologies requesting help . I am not sure this issue is by design or not. Sure would like to have it connected to the laptop most of the time. Still waiting for response from Plugable Technologies. I would have given a 5 star rating if not because of the slow response from tech support.
Best to use matching cables for both monitor outputs – do the firmware upgrade and works perfect.
My laptop has a USB typeC but my desktop only has USB 3.0. It’s easy to find peripherals for typeC but not for 3.0 that can run multiple monitors, keyboard, mouse, audio, etc.
I even missed the description stating it had audio. Sure, you will need to have power running to your desktop and laptop but now you can just swap the two around with a simple plug of the provided USB cable (it has a typeC cable if you don’t have my problem).
Bought this dock to easily switch between two laptops and an extra monitor. Plenty of usb ports for my needs, and takes up little space on the desktop.
I am extremely satisfied with this product. It’s literally plug-and-play and can’t be any easier to use. It comes with a lot of extra attachments; DVI to HDMI coupler as well as some HDMI and other cords. This was a lot easier to use than I thought it was going to be and wish I had purchased this a lot sooner than I did
Performs as expected and a good value for the price compared to retail options
I have two Dell P2319H (23 inch) monitors, laptop (via USB-C), a headset with mic via USB-3, headphones and mobile phone charging cable plugged into it. All working well. Easy set-up. No hick-ups so far. All cables nicely tacked behind. Resting horizontally in the middle between the monitors. Very happy with the product.
Works well. Came with 2 European plugs and no English 3 pin, so I am having to use an adapter.
I have been searching for a good universal docking station for my work from home responsibilities. This one has blown my mind! It is plug and play and does the job as described.
it also includes a few converters to assist you in connecting to any type of device. This is real value for money for me.
I usually don’t do very many reviews, but once in a while, am happy with a product that I like, on which the money spent feels worthwhile, and then some. This is one of those. With COVID19 raging all around, one of my children needed a proper keyboard, separate monitor, and a mouse to go along with his laptop. This dock was my second choice after the first one ordered didn’t quite it, in that it only supported the newest AltDP over USB standard. They of course had it hidden in some fine print, so I returned it. Upon reading the excellent review of this on Amazon and outside Amazon, I ordered this one. It just worked with the DisplayLink protocol, with the 1 year old laptop of my son, a chromebook, my own laptop, connecting it to TV, etc. I also run a variety of operating systems, with Ubuntu/Gentoo Linux being primary, and then Windows and Chromebook. All around, very happy with the dock, and it’s been working out really well for my son. Perhaps they can add a USB-C port to the dock, but that’s about all I can think of to improve it.
Worked perfect to add additional monitors to my daughters laptop for work. Easy to install and all the cords go to one central location. I had no problems getting the monitors to display properly
Works great the best bang for your buck
Add display driver and works as a charm on a surface go2 2020
Works great for my multiple displays … have one at work and at home. Highly recommended
This unit was literally plug in all plugs, download driver and go. If my 5 year old knew how to type I feel like they could have got this unit and and running. It is small enough to fit under my small laptop stand, I can have my dual monitor, head set, keyboard and laptop all plugged in with my internet hard wired because my internet sucks. Overall for the price and delivery speed (I’m pretty sure I just blinked for a really long time and then it appeared) I am SUPER HAPPY with this product. I’ve only had it going for 2 weeks so I can’t write about longevity but honestly I can’t see how it would break.
Nice and compact..used for connecting ThinkPad laptop with 2 monitors, mouse, keyboard and IPhone usb lightning cable
I have been looking around at a number of docking stations to a USB-c connection for my laptop to connect two monitors. I move the laptop between locations and the monitors are different at each location. I also want to connect keyboard, camera and mouse. This worked perfectly out of the box! Plug it in, plug it into host (laptop), plug the monitors into either the DVI or the HDMI outlets, plug other accessories into USB outlets and away you go. They provide adapters for VGA to DVI. The only thing missing is an adapter from VGA to HDMI, so I had to buy that separately.
I do have one small complaint – the unit does not provide charging power to the PC – need to connect separately. It would be nice to have, but I am so happy with performance, that this is a minor nit.
El accesorio funciona adecuadamente, lo instal con una laptop hbrida, tengo conectado un monitor y una tableta grfica con pantalla. Reconoce sin problemas puertos, accesorios, no he tenido problema alguno. El cable de poder es un adaptador que puede no conectar bien en algunos contactos, al principio pens que no funcionaba, pero despus de probar en distintos contactos descubr este detalle. Es una buen opcin para agregar puertos USB y organizar el escritorio para accesorios.
Very simple to use with your dual monitors or other equipment. Instructions are very clear and the item is well built.
Good product. Would be nice to be able to charge my laptop from the port. Otherwise works well
Using with 13″ Dell XPS laptop to connect two 27″ monitors and a keyboard. With the laptop screen, have 3 screens across which I can extend the view, great for viewing multiple documents at the same time. Smooth transition between the three screens.
This dock allows for 2 HDMI connections, which makes it much easier than previous versions that allowed only 1 HDMI and 1 DVI per dock. It’s sleek as well – stays out of the way when connected and just does its job.
Very easy to set up – centralizes all the devices, can handle multiple monitors – great buy
For a novice computer owner of an older cloud based web book, this was a super easy installation. The tech support provided with the hub was easy to read, understand and follow. I am grateful for the included live tech support for installation but did not need it. The design compliments my equipment and I can now use all of my accessories without struggling due to my inexperience. The hub fits in my pre-owned case without a problem. I did not include a sheerness rating because I did not understand the meaning.
DON’T USE THE TYPE-C CONNECTION TO THE HOST -> THIS IS MORE COMPLICATED and it may not be plug and play. I bought this knowing I needed a Type-C. Even though the main title and description does not talk about Type-C, there is some fine print that says it comes with a Type-C connection.
I still gave it five stars because 1) It works great when using the regular USB connection and 2) I emailed support and they sent me the Amazon links to what I should have bought. I easily returned this and purchased the correct dock.
The support was great!
I bought this docking station to use with 2 different computers, one for work and one personal, and it works perfect. Initially I was worried about speed, being usb3.0 instead of USBC, but I can say you wont see any slower speed due to computer processing consumption (can’t say how gaming experience would be because I don’t play pc games).
It was very easy to setup and now my dual monitors operate as I want them too and all USB devices work more easily.
I needed a docking station to set up two monitors. This was inexpensive, has quite a few good features, and set up quickly. It should be noted that the docking station does not provide power to the laptop. You will need to use the AC adapter with the laptop to get power. Overall, I am happy with the product and would recommend it.
I connected my Dell Laptop to 2 extra monitors using this device. I am able to extend my screen so that I have 3 screens showing different things. The product is compact and easy to set up. It comes with the adapters to connect to the DVI.
I easily installed the equipment straight from the package. The software automatically loaded and I was fully operational in minutes
Needed something to turn my home desk situation into a more friendly home/work station so through a friends suggestion bought this docking station so i could do multiple monitors and not have to stack laptops on one another. Price seemed good to me so ordered it. Plugged everything in and it immediately read both laptops without having to even install its driver so that was great! Only down side is the dvi to hdmi adapter was bad as it was causing green blinky dots on which ever monitor it was plugged into. Amazon couldn’t send me just a new adapter so ended up purchasing a new dvi to hdmi cable which fixed the situation and saved me from having to return the whole thing. Otherwise its working great now! Just be wary of the dvi to hdmi adapter haha.
I set this up for swapping my Razer Widowmaker, Logitech G600, and two monitors between my personal desktop and my work laptop.
The bad:
1. You have to use HDMI and VGA ports as well as DisplayLink drivers to plug your monitors into this hub. I have 4K monitors with display port outputs and a GTX 1660 card for play time. Needless to say, I still have to swap cords and hook up my monitors to my desktop if I want to game, but for the rest of my desktop needs, the video drivers are fine.
2. You need a switch to attach to the hub if you want to make transitions between two machines seamless. Fortunately, Plugable makes one. Look for a USB power switch on their site. Buy it. You’ll be happy you did.
The good:
1. Everything else, including Plugable’s tech support when a USB port on my laptop was giving me fits.
2. It seriously takes me a push of a button and a matter of seconds to switch between rigs. I work remotely most days but am on site once a week and there’s never any problem after coming home and hooking back into the switch.
Verdict:
This setup has increased my productivity by turning my laptop into a desktop, while still giving me access to my personal system at the touch of a button. Mitchell in tech support gave me the help I needed to work out a couple little wrinkles. Between the products and the people, this was money well spent. Definitely worth it.
This company really cares about it’s customers. I needed support and boy did I get it.
Highly recommended for product quality performance and service!
Works perfectly. Unfortunately with so many sockets and adapters there is a lot of cables so this should be planned when setting up a desktop location.
I’ve ordered several Plugable brand docking stations and all have been great. They are relatively inexpensive (when compared to vendor produced docks) and provide a multitude of different connectivity options.
This dock has been great for my home setup. It came with a variety of cables and adaptors for me to plug in my laptop and two monitors. It also came with plugs for UK and Europe. Would happily recommend
I needed a hub to allow a number of USB 3 peripherals to work with my new device which has USB C ports. The manufacturer’s hub is much more expensive than the Pluggable 3900 and doesn’t have as broad an array of ports. I also did not want to buy the cheapest hub available, figuring you get what you pay for to some degree. The Pluggable 3900H arrived quickly — in fact too quickly as I did not yet have my new computer. Pluggable was very accommodating about extending the free return period so as to start once I could actually use the hub. In addition, I had a number of questions about the operation of the hub and the Pluggable support team was absolutely the best. I wrote an email laying out my questions and within a day or so I had a detailed, personal response. I had to do this a few times and they were always prompt, complete and personable. So many companies let you hang for days – some never respond – these folks though were always responsive and helpful. A treat to work with. And now that I have hooked up the various accessories, I can say that the hub does what I want and does it well.
This docking station allowed me to clean up the mess of cables I had and make it SO much easier to take my lap top with me.
Super easy to install, except having a power on button I would say this is well worth buying to solve your dual monitor set up
Does exactly what I needed. It has sufficient ports and allowed me to get all wires off of my desk and I have a single HDMI cable I use to plug into my laptop. I can switch from one laptop to another in a matter of seconds. It’s been reliable and have had no issues whatsoever with it.
Had no problems setting up this dock. Plug and play.
Only issue I have had is the dock to USB-C connection was causing my mouse and keyboard to flicker while they were connected to the dock. Changed the dock connector to USB-A to dock and everything works wonderfully.
Easy to install. Comes with monitor cord adapters in case those are needed.
I tried a couple hubs before finding this one. This was the only one that did everything i needed including serving keyboard, mouse, speakers, mic, and video.
Great product. Very happy.
This is a very handy way to add a couple of monitors to your displays. Works like a charm, and moves cables away from a laptop, making disconnection easier.
I like this one better than their vertical version as it seems to be a little more sleek on my desk. It also has a little more power running to it which should be a good thing especially when plugging in multiple usb products. Overall these are great little docking stations.
Happy with this “universal” laptop dock. Have 3 different laptops in our house and all connected seamlessly to the home office set up using this dock. Has all the ports we need for accessories and supports two monitors. Completely satisfied with performance.
Worked as described. Capable of extended desktop screens. Used on HP laptop.
Worked great right off the bat! Was looking for a solution for my Microsoft Surface Pro 3, since the micro display port is different than newer ones. Arrived early. Plugged in everything and presto!
I am able to connect my monitor, keyboard and mouse easily to my laptop(s). Very space friendly and works very well. Came with nice adapters, no compliants
After trying out a few other docks for my Acer Predator Helios 300 laptop (which only has 1 HDMI output), I found this to work perfectly to give multi monitor support out of the USB C 3.0 port. The USB ports work on it, the audio input/outputs work perfectly, and I’m glad that I can finally have more than 1 monitor output for it.
Delivered early than anticipated. Connected the work laptop with two monitors, display was good. Since my work laptop has display link drivers installed, display was show up on monitors in about 5 mins without flickering. All the adapters from the package are working like champ. I recommend buying this product.
Product works great, and the included adapters are nice to have. Only thing that is unfortunate is that the main plug in doesn’t charge the laptop while docked, so you still need to have the power cord plugged in. One extra cord, which for me doesn’t matter, but if you need one that also charges with the main plug you may need to look elsewhere.
I was skeptical about this because I wanted it to work with both my windows laptop and my chromebook. I was presently surprised that both of my devices work flawlessly with this dock.
I picked this up so I could run multiple monitors off of my Asus Vivobook S15 S530FA-DB51. It only has one HDMI, and I also wanted the option to run my work HP EliteBook on the same dual monitor setup. Nice to be able to swap back and forth between both. Especially when one has HDMI and one has DisplayPort.
I researched these and it was a toss up between the Plugable UD-3900 and the UD-3900H (horizontal). Both are identical specs, only this one (the UD-3900H) is a better fit for my desk setup.
I ordered this, and the whole lot (dock, cables and connectors I ordered) came in the next day. My 2nd 27″ monitor came in the following day so I set it all up in a matter of about 20 minutes. SIMPLE to set up and connect, and with Windows 10 I was up and running in no time.
I run 2 x ViewSonic VX2757-MHD 27 Inch LED monitors. These are a pretty decent unit for pretty much everything I do, which is everything BUT gaming. No time for that. Both are 1080P and are running full HD connected to this dock. My only regret, this dock has one HDMI and one DVI… I was too cheap to pop for the unit that had 2 x HDMI.
The Plugable Dock is connected only by the USB-C connector to my laptop, and it works fantastic. Download the DisplayLink drivers and you are off to the races. So far so good, its a great work from home during the apocalypse setup, and I am far more productive on 2 screens. Oh, and should I get really wild, it will run all 3 (2 x 27″ plus the laptop screen). No lag, no nothing.
My only gripe, when you unplug the laptop and swap in the other, you need to adjust the screens again for position and so on. I have not found a way yet for it to revert to docked configuration… but then again I haven’t looked that hard either.
Buy it, you will like it.
I like this product, it did what it claims to do and easy to install, however i cannot use as it does not charge my laptop and i need this feature. I had to return it reluctantly.
everything same as advertised. but wireless mouse works with very minor flaw. mouse receiver is plugged in usb2.0 socket. the mouse cursor occasionally jumps from current position to a new position. so I plug the mouse receiver to my laptop, the problem disappeared.
I was quite happy with the purchase of this docking station. I was able to Plug n play without any problems. It has a lot of ports which is helpful also because I have several connections to tie in to my computer.
However, I lost power and only after having the device for 6 months, it died and did not recover. For $85 dollars, I would expect it to last longer and/or have something in the way of protection from a power outage.
Bought this so I could set up a home workstation, and have no issues so far. Just be sure you follow the instructions exactly, and don’t use your own wires or plugs. I tried plugging a few items in that looked like a proper fit, but that did not work. In the meantime, I’ve had this for several months and the two-monitor setup works fine.
Works well after I installed the driver for my work laptop. Now I can work from home and have a 2 monitor setup just like I have at the office! Fantastic!
The docking station really solved my problem with 5 cables I had to plug and unplug when I am getting my laptop (MSI GV62 8RD-034) in and out. Now I have 2 cables: power and usb-c, connected to the docking station.
The only issues I am experiencing is the video performance in heavy games, like Mortal Kombat 11.
DisplayLink adds lag to the game and affects its performance. This is OK for offline, but not for online experience.
Workaround for this is to directly plug HDMI cable to the laptop.
Everything else works great and I am happy with the docking stations.
Bought it 8 months ago and worked like a charm. I even bought a second one for my home use! Highly recommended.
This docking station is much, much less expensive than the overpriced Microsoft Surface Dock. The Microsoft Surface Dock, it turns out, is superior to this dock in some ways, but not enough to justify the price difference.
My biggest complaint with this dock, is the response time of the mouse. It’s noticeably slow; meaning you can detect the lag in human terms. I also have the Microsoft Surface Dock (paid for by my employer for my workstation at the office), and I can confirm this is NOT the case with the Surface Dock.
The Surface Pro 4 features SuperSpeed USB 3.0 capability, which should have sufficient performance to allow for smoother mouse response, but I guess the fact I have two 1920×1080 FHD displays connected may explain the lag.
Overall, for the price point, I’m happy with this dock and would likely recommend it to folks not looking for super-fast responsiveness.
This was exactly like described and I liked that it came with the attachments , I have not had to reach out to Tech support so can not rate that and did not know it had a sleep mode will need to read up on tha
This product is great! Everything works as intended, for the multiple displays to work you just need to download the driver from their website. Also comes with two very convenient converters from VGA to DVI and HDMI to DVI to connect any screen to the DVI port (there is also the HDMI port). Also comes with two cables to connect to your workstation, one for USB3 port and one for USB Type C port. Recommended!
Happy that I bought this product so I can plug/unplug my laptop to all other output/input devices with only one usb cord
Easy to setup and use for my Sager NP7338.
Comes with adapters to use with the DVI port.
Technically works with gaming laptops but I don’t recommend it as I did notice an FPS drop in some games.
Works with f.lux or SunsetScreen with a registry key modification
Cons:
Would’ve preferred more USB 3.0 ports
Latency issue using wireless devices
Wait time for your monitors to switch over using DisplayLink
I have two HP laptops, one for work with a docking station, a second for home; and dual monitors set up as an expanded desktop. Once the cables were all connected, and computer display settings established, I can have both units powered up and can switch the USB 3.0 cable between each to change work modes. I’ve recently purchased Sabrent USB 3.0 Sharing Switch. Once installed, I can (at the flick of a switch) change between platforms without having to change cables. The Plugable USB 3.0 Dual Monitor Horizontal Docking Station for Windows (Dual Video HDMI & DVI/) driver is available from the website (instructions included), and I downloaded, and my work computer already had a compatible driver on board. My monitors connection points are VGA, HDMI, and DVI so this docking station was a purchase well made. It also came with adapters, power supply, and USB 3.0 cable. I’m not aware of a sleep mode other than turning off the power; any tech support was acquired thru an friend who knows more than I
Works great with common FHD monitors and windows 10 (19H1)
Doesn’t overwhelmingly consumes CPU power when doing static works.
But shows frame drops when CPU usage is high.
1Gbps ethernet works great.
Good choose for use with laptops that don’t provide enough USB ports.
If you want bigger resolution, find 4k version.
Firm and reliable, but I think pretty expensive.
I bought this for my Surface Pro 2016 to add dual monitors to. It is a great and much cheaper alternative to the Surface Dock. However, here are a couple of problems I have run into since buying it.
– Some very slight stutter when playing videos on dual monitors (not very noticeable but present), but could be that I don’t have a dedicated GPU on my Surface. Not sure if I’d have the same problem with the Surface Dock or not.
– USB ports are hard to get at since they’re all located in the back. Plugging something in takes a bit of feeling around. It’d be nice to have some at the front as well.
– Sound from speakers (plugged into the dock) started crackling while watching videos, however I emailed customer support and they quickly gave me steps to restart the product which made the problem go away. This has happened only once since installing this product, but could be a nuisance if it continues.
Other than these minor issues, it is a great product and does exactly as it should.
I was deliberating between a dedicated HP docking station or this Plugable device. Very glad I went with this hub. I simply downloaded the driver, plugged in all the devices and everything was operational. There is an occasional glitch such as a jittery screen but this can be remedied by detaching and reattaching the USB 3 cable. Great product at a very reasonable price.
I upgraded my old desktop to a new laptop and wanted to retain the use of my two monitors. This docking station holds connection for USB peripherals, two monitors, and wired internet… all connection to the laptop through a single USB 3.0 connection.
There was a small problem with initial set-up getting the third monitor to activate out of the box. I sent an email to tech support (around midnight… I was setting it up after work), resolved the issue and sent a follow-up email letting them know they could disregard the initial request, and received a reply in the morning saying they received both and confirming I had the correct solution. I didn’t expect the follow-up and found it considered and welcome.
Been using Pluggable products for over ten years. I have never been disappointed in a pluggable product, and their service and support are the best.
Hooked up my laptop to this and now I can use an MS ergonomic keyboard and have dual screens. Also plugged in my computer speakers. Works great and easy to setup
Great product. Works as advertised. No concerns over latency or quality of video, works great for my setup.
It takes time to install the software and finally make it work. It takes more time than what I planed for. Once it works, it is good. Not plug and play type.
I forgot to update the driver for this for a couple of days and was wondering why I couldn’t plug the screen directly into this. Then I remembered about the driver and once it was updated it was good to go and works perfectly.
Very good product comes with the essential adapters and worked like a charm. If it doesn’t work the first time, try installing the driver from there website.
Very nice device, easy to install everything around works perfect, screens, External HHD, mouse, keyboard Camera etc with only one computer USB connectio
Great buy. I spent a TON of time finding the right system that would allow both my husband and I to connect to two monitors with ease. My laptop has a USB C and his a regular USB. This worked really well and looks great in place. Only issue is the second screen looks super bright and a little washed out. I spent time trying to adjust the image quality on the screen directly. Not sure if it’s the screen or the docking station. Eitherway this is a great solution!!
This does exactly what it says I do wish it had another HDMI port so that you don’t have to use that VGI connector, but it does what it says all ports work. The company uses Amazon to ship that is the only drawback. Highly recommend for the $$$$
I work from home a lot, and when i have to go back to office it is so difficult to unplug everything and pack it, then vise a versa……..this way, I have 2 monitors, printer, wireless mouse, phone charger, 50″ TV as back up monitor and power all in this thing. sure it is a bit pricey, but it is a saving grace in my mind. i now just unplug the unit from computer and shove it in my bag…..the company got me one for the office when I suggested it and makes this simple and easy.
I searched forever for a triple monitor docking station and at one point spent $200 on one that disappointed. Not wanting to spend that much again I got this one and used hdmi and DVI (white connection) for two of my monitors and an hdmi to hdmi via my laptop for the final one. Surprisingly works well for the past few months and I just ordered a second for my wife to use.
While the USB ports charge my note 8 and iPad, I wouldn’t advise plugging an external drive to it. First time I did it the unit was knocked out and I had to unplug/replug back in. Otherwise I have no complaints.
A universal docking station will never be as good as a manufacturer’s docking station for several reasons.
That being said, for a universal docking station that will work regardless of brand, it is still pretty handy.
This is a solid 4 to 4.5 star product despite the list of minor cons below.
Will update below review if any problems arise later.
PROS:
+ Cost. Brand specific docks can be 2 to 3 times the cost of this dock.
+ Slim. It looks like this comes in vertical and horizontal models (I chose horizontal)
+ Easy to set up if you’re technically savvy in any capacity
+ Use with any number of devices in your home at a single station, which is exactly what mine is being used for (Home dual monitor work station which now can have work and home laptops swapped out.)
CONS: (these are minor, but could be a major inconvenience depending on your scenario)
– Requires driver installation (which isn’t listed in the instructions) but is easy enough to locate from their website.
– **Oversight: you MUST have administrative rights on the device. Normally this isn’t an issue unless, for example, you are issued a laptop for work but must contact your IT department to allow the drivers to be installed locally. I purchased this for my wife who ran into the same issue, and luckily their policy allowed them to install the drivers on her completely locked down machine.
– Can’t charge laptop through the dock.
– Laptop requires independent power, it’s one more power cord to have to route and cause clutter.
– Can’t power on from dock if laptop is shutdown (have to open, power on, shut lid which can cause additional wear and tear)
– Because it isn’t a manufacturer dock, it takes up a little more room since it’s not designed for the device to nestle in/on the dock.
– USB to device connector (USB 3.0 and Type C to laptop) is really short and may limit where you can place your dock VS where the port(s) are on your laptop, though you can always buy longer cables to replace the provided ones.
– Even with the provided adapters you may still find yourself not able to use one of your monitors without additional adapters (Specifically Display Port). The best monitor solution you could hope for is if both of your monitors have HDMI and DVI options so you can plug directly into the dock without the need for adapters (included or not).
I wanted to be able to close my laptop and extend the screen to three external monitors. I made sure that I contacted their support team first to explain the details of my laptop. It’s a good thing I did this, because they then recommended this product, plus two additional wires and adapters. With all of their help, this product (with the additional wires and adapters) works perfectly for me. Highly recommended.
I had tried several higher priced docks, and could not get exactly what i wanted. I was a little skeptical to try this dock with such a low price, but i went ahead and ordered it to find it works extremely well! I have two 23.5 inch monitors, keyboard, mouse, mouse mat, and 5.1 surround sound all ran by this dock. I have not had any issues with screen rendering, sizing, or sound quality loss! I would very much recommend this dock!
Really like the plugable Docking station because it has many ports for USB, HDMI, Ethernet and sound.
Bought this for a relatively new (2 years old) HP laptop and it works great for a cheap docking station alternative. The nicer ones have additional display port options and an on/off switch that integrates with the pc, but this one works just fine for my personal laptop.
Replaced my desktop with a laptop which did not have a connection for my existing monitor and had limited USB ports. Decided the best solution was to purchase a docking station
Pros:
Very easy to set up, instructions are basic but the correct level of detail for what is required
Everything worked exactly as it should – no difficulties
Product arrived on time and in good condition
Supplied with the necessary cable to connect to the laptop and the adapter to hook up my monitor
6 USB ports so enough room to hook up everything I needed.
Cons:
The only thing I didn’t like was the length of the USB cable that connects the laptop to the docking station – could have used a couple more feet of length. Fortunately I had a USB extension cable laying around I used.
Works great. I installed the software and dual monitors were up and running. Amazing price too.
The Plugable worked well. I was able to plug my two monitors in and my laptop for a 3 monitor setup (laptop screen and 2 stand alone monitors).
This product works great and seems to be quicker then old laptop plug i
Works great. Customer service sent email with updated drivers before I received the product. Updated the drivers and I was ready to go. So far so good. Let’s hoe it lasts.
I have two Plugable USB 3.0 3900 devices now. One is an upright and one is the 3900H horizontal. Both installed quickly and easily and have worked flawlessly. These devices make working from home more enjoyable for my wife and I. We can pick up our laptops and take them with us quickly without having to unplug our monitors, keyboard, mouse, printer, network cable, speakers, USB thumb drives, etc. And they allow you to run two monitors. They are very easy to install and have run reliably for several months now.
Bought this after my desktop died and decided to use only my i7 ROG laptop.
This dock is USB 3.0 so my 3.0 external Hard Drives are read SUPER fast. It also works quite well with my non-HDMI older 24″ Dell Monitor. I put it standing on its front edge in the rear slot of an OMOTON Double dock stand (a two-slot vertical Laptop stand) I bought at the same time and both are totally out of my way, with the Dock behind the laptop so you can’t see it or its wires. Love it!
I had never heard of these guys, but took a gamble because a Dell docking station was quite a bit more money. I had an issue where if I plugged in the USB-C cable into my Dell laptop, the dock would only work if I rebooted the laptop. So, it worked, but wasn’t “hot swappable”. I thought it might be a windows issue, or a Dell issue, but maybe a Plugable issue, so I emailed their support. Within 10 minutes I got a response – a very intelligent response asking me specific questions and giving me a process to help determine the problem. I did as they asked, got them the data needed to verify the issue, and then like 15 minutes later, they had a solution and even more troubleshooting options if that didn’t work. Well, it worked, and I am 100% satisfied with this product. The solution was to use the standard USB cable versus the “lightning” cable. Possible Dell driver issue on the lightning port. I only wish this company sold other products I use. Seriously – Pat at Plugable made the difference and made it seem easy with such quick, intelligent responses. Thanks!!!
First one out of the box would not work when attaching a laptop to the device after bringing it home from work in standby mode.
Tech support were great and helpful and sent me another pre-tested device. This second device wasn’t even detected by the computer.
Third device was shipped out and this works fine. It’s nice to be able to use 2 external monitors, usb ports etc and only plug a couple of cables into the laptop (power and usb port). Works great for the Surface Pro with it’s one usb port.
I’m not sure I’d want to play video games with this device but it works fine for office work/surfing/youtube etc.
Worked great to attach surface pro to a couple monitors and full key board.
