Hi this Hdmi 8 k is amazing doesn’t brake I will not go back to any uther this fiber is brilliant it dus what it says on the packet ethreth everything what I watch is UHD Thank’s for this amazing cable Thank’s Robe
I used this cord to connect my 3080 to my LG CX and it works as advertised. I am on 4k, 120hz, HDR, and RGB 10 bit. Also, I really like the material used as it is very flexible, but does not feel cheap.
Make sure you get GEN3 though because I heard it does not perform the same. This happened with me, but I asked support and they sent one that arrived within a couple of days.
Overall, great experience!
I was about to return my LG CX when I saw everyone having this issue with this “HDMI Ultra HD Deep color” feature on the TV and how it would not allow a PC with a 30 series graphics card display without turning the feature off.
Unfortunately when this feature is off the TV cant use ANY of the fancy LG OLED & HDMI 2.1 features (4k, 120hz, G-sync, etc.).
Thankfully I stumbled across a link to these cable on Reddit.
I was SO happy when I plugged it in and everything worked on my TV. 4k, 120hz, HDR, & G-Sync, EVERYTHING!
The problem was ultimately a combination of low quality (see: false advertising) HDMI 2.1 cables as well as a compatibility issue with the LG TVs, specifically this “HDMI Ultra HD Deep color” feature. Once I got the right cables everything was good to go.
Yes these cable are expensive, but consider the headache it has been to get my PC to display out to my TV it was worth every penny.
Now I’m playing PC games on the couch with an Xbox controller at ultra settings!
I had a solid copper/quality cable, but one device would NOT sync at 4k over a 10-meter run. This cable fixed that problematic device and can now sync to the display over a 10-meter run. The cable is labeled with SOURCE and DISPLAY and will NOT work if installed backwards. Both ends of the cable are clearly labeled as to which end goes where. I wasn’t familiar with these types of cables and of course I didn’t notice and installed it backwards and it didn’t work. My mistake, of course.
Both cables are connected to a video processor with 3080 GPU installed. Both cables are working fine. My only concern is that the connectors at the source end (the ones connected to the 3080 GPU) run a bit hot and that they may die on me soon. Customer service have assured me that this is normal but I am not fully convinced. Hoping it lasts.
If you are expecting to receive the Gen 3/C version, look out for these markers:
1) A small label on the box indicating Gen 3/C;
2) Small labels wrapped around the cable near the connectors indicating Gen 3/C; and
3) Red and green lettering on the connectors.
I tested many cables over the last year, all failed. Some synced at 4:4:4 but has lines across the screen, or disconnects like the ATV 4?K displayed. The best cable I had before this was a Wyrestorm HAOC 15 which worked up to 4:2:0 but failed when set to 4:4:4 on any 4K content.
I read reviews about this cable and gave it a try, installed today and did the same tests that I have done all the previous cables. well, everything works perfectly.. No drops, disconnects, horizontal lines. This was most evident on the Apple TV 4K and a PS5. thank you!
Switch: Yamaha 3080
Display: Optoma UHD42

I rarely write reviews on amazon, but this one is definitely worth talking about. I spent an insane amount of time researching long cables that would work for the xbox series x. HDMI 2.1 cables are only able to carry 4k 120hz for about 10 feet. There is a lot of bad information out there, and so many cables claim they can carry 4k 120hz over 10 feet and actually don’t work. I bought the 20 foot cable, and it works flawlessly with my Xbox Series X delivering crisp 4k HDR at 120hz. If you were in a situation like me and have an xbox series x and need a long cable, this is the one. Yea, it is expensive, but it works.
I replaced a 10m copper HDMI with this last week. The old HDMI was right on the limit with 4k content – I’d see occasional two-second drop outs, occasional snow (oddly, more commonly with 1080p content), HDCP sync issues, and a total refusal to do 4k50/60 4:4:4. With this cable it’s absolutely rock solid, no issues whatsoever. eARC is also working fine – no issue with Atmos/DD+.
Installation through an existing conduit was fine – the plugs were of similar size to the copper cable’s, and the cable itself is thinner and more flexible.
All in all, if you’ve got HDMI issues and you’re running 8m+ of cable, get this.
I’ve received 3 cables from them,2 were official Gen 3C cables which didn’t work, giving no signal, and the third cable being a modified gen3C cable managed to fix the issues I was previously having, 4k 120hz works with HDR RGB only at 8bit, 10bit causes issues with Samsung TV. Thanks to the support and the engineers of RUIPRO
I had a high speed copper cable running over 15M previously, I had encountered hand shake problems when transmitting 10-bit colour via Sky Q and convinced myself to spend 200+ on a cable. I’ve not regretted it at all (up to now). I’ve had the cable installed for around 3 weeks, the colour and clarity is a HUGE upgrade from the previous cable and I’ve had no handshake issues at all.
Before I bought this, I tried an optical HDMI from a reputable high street store which failed to transmit 10-bit and would only do 8.
I wrote to the seller asking for the latest version, they were very helpful and shipped the cable immediately. It took around 1 week which was a lot quicker than expected.
This is the third hdmi 2.1 cable I”ve purchased to connect my TV (LG C9 OLED) to my PC’s GPU (RTX 3080).
The first one was a 16ft Zeskit cable that was recommended by HDTV test on youtube, this cable worked just fine, but is very thick, very stiff, and heavy. This cable gave me concerns regarding port longevity, as it puts a fair amount of stress on the hdmi port from the stiffness and sheer weight of the cable. I wasn’t happy with this so I started looking into optical cables. amazon link: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07S1BNM7K/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
The second cable was a MFE fiber cable. This one is plenty long, light, and flexible, but thats about all I can say, as it didn’t work. It was the cheapest one with a review I could find though… Amazon link: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08HGSN4L9/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
This cable was the third one I’ve purchased, and it worked out of the box! So I’m very happy thus far. 4k @120hz with HDR over 20ft. It does what it says on the tin. I’ll update this review if I have issues down the line, but so far I’m happy with this cabl;e.
I’m happy to say that RUIPRO’s cable finally delivered the full capability of my TV. I have the 100ft version and using their USB powered HDMI plug (and HDMI 4 of my TV), I can set 4K, 120Hz, HDR, G-SYNC, and 10bit color and the picture is perfect. I am using this setup with an EVGA RTX 3080 FTW3 Ultra.
If you need a longer HDMI 2.1 cable, this is it.
Do not plug in the 5v USB adapter into your PC. Just plug the respective cable ends to the right ports and play!
Another point: this cable is VERY thin and flexible, comes nicely packaged and feels good quality. I’m very impressed overall with it and the only thing that kills it a little for me is the price. $170 is a LOT to pay and I feel is intentionally marked up well beyond fair market value as a result of there being so little options out currently for people needing longer cables. If you only need 10-15ft you can get copper cables that cost $15-$20. And I know fiber optic doesn’t increase the price THAT much, toslink cables are fiber optic and cost very little, so this is clearly just an opportunity to make huge margins in a niche category.
Everything said, I can’t help but recommend this cable to anyone looking to send hdmi 2.1 signal further than 15 ft, at least until some competition drives pricing down.
Bought the 12m 4K cable. Works very well with my Samsung TV, Onkyo amplifier and source units (Apple TV, Sky Box). Customer service also excellent, I had to exchange a 10m version as was too short. Overall, definitely recommend. Update: I ran this cable under my floor and through my wall. The preinstalled duct is unfortunately not continuous and obstructed in parts. So a bit of careful elbow grease was needed to get the cable through and it worked fine once plugged in. So the cable seems reasonably durable too.
I needed to replace a 15 meter (50 foot) copper HDMI cable with an optical HDMI cable, to support an upgrade to 4K/HDR/Dolby Vision. My research suggested that cheaper optical HDMI cables sometimes don’t work well, and that Ruipro cables were well thought of, so I bought the 15 meter Ruipro even though it was fairly expensive.
The build quality seems very high, and it “just worked” after I installed it. So I’m quite pleased with it. I have no way of knowing whether it will last many years like my copper cable, but based on two weeks use I can recommend it.
I used it to connect my Nvidia Shield to my TV. It works perfectly and seems good quality
Cheapest 8k cable we could find and definitely does the job!
So many tries. Finally. Gonna change the review if I encounter Problems later on.
Spend your money on a sexy display capable of 4k@100Hz+? Using HDMI 2.1 graphic card? Distance between display and PC is quiet long? I confirm this optical HDMI cable’s awesomeness. This HDMI cable’s chipset is cool. I’m not using the delivered power amp adapter (5Volt). As I said I will update my rating in case of changes as I really feel you.
Braindead specification & technique but this product offers us a solution. Thank You so much RUIPRO-DE! Give it a tru folks!
Update: Happy 🙂
Saw the rave reviews and picked up the GEN3B 65ft version to pair my 3090 with my LG CX TV. This cable was able to display the picture but got endless stuttering and hiccups, basically unusable.
After a lot of research, THIS is the cable to use for connecting an RTX 3080 to an LG OLED in full 4K 120hz HDR over a distance. Works perfectly, feels high-end and surprisingly fast delivery considering it ships from China (3 days).
I bought the 40ft version of this cable for my new home theater project. Ran the cable from a closet, up the wall, across the attic, and then down the wall where my TV is via a previously installed smurf tube.
Connected the HDMI to my Denon AVR-X4700H and then to my LG OLED77GXP TV. I then connected my Xbox Series X to the Denon receiver and was able to set the Xbox Display settings to 4K 120Hz and everything worked perfectly.
You can stop looking, this is the cable you want. While it technically is “not certified” I can tell you for a fact that it does indeed perform as if it was.
Updated Review:
After reading the below review Mandy from RUIPRO customer service reached out to me and offered to replace the cables that did not work with my BenqHT550 projector with two new “gen3C” cables. They are physically identical to the “gen3B” cables but have a “gen3C” sticker on the box instead of “gen3B”. The new cables work perfectly and transfer full 4k HDR and 60Hz signals (max my system can do).
Original Review:
This cable does not work with my BENQ HT5550 projector. I bought the 65ft version and the 85ft version and both had the same exact results with all my experiments.
1) I used both “gen3b” cables with another 4k TV and a computer monitor and it worked.
2) I then used my old hdmi 2.0b fiber cable with the projector to confirm it isn’t the projector, and it works.
3) I also tried the included power injector and it did nothing.
This leads me to the conclusion that this cable for whatever reason does not work in combination with my BENQ HT5550 projector.
Common knowledge promoted on Reddit and AVS seems to indicate that HDMI2.1 cables just can’t carry the required signal for 4k/120hz VRR/HDR more than 2-3ft or maybe even up to 3m (HDMI 2.1 standard). I needed a 40ft run to make my setup work and my traditional “8K’ copper HDMI cables from monoprice would cap out at 4k/60hz before signal loss. I’m here to report that this cable actually works – and works flawlessly. I have not experienced a single drop out and have not had to use the included powdered adapter to boost the signal further.
Setup: LG C9 / RTX 3070.
Hints for success:
1. On the C9 HDMI 4 seems to be more stable than the rest. If you’re having issues with signal dropout try HDMI 4.
2. Make sure your CX/C9 is on the latest firmware that enables VRR.
3. You need to enable “HD Colors” and “Game Response” to enable VRR/120HZ/HDR in picture settings.
4. Enable G-Sync in Nvidia settings as well as set the output to 4k/120hz.
That’s it. Plug it in and you’re good to go. I’m staggered that this cable actually works as I thought I was going to be stuck at 4k/60hz due to cable length limitations put forth in the HDMI 2.1 standards.
My one complaint is that for some reason they went all Spearmint green on the color and made the cable green for reasons unknown to man. In my setup I have to see a portion of the cable run and with everything else black it can kind of fade into the background but with my new bright Spearmint green cable it’s an eyesore that is only made ok by butter 4k/120hz in HDR.
With the 85ft cable, I can confirm that I was able to output 3840×2160 at 120hz. This is with color format set to RGB, output color depth set to 10Bit, output dynamic range at Full, g-sync enabled, and HDR enabled in windows as well. This is from an RTX 3090 to an LG OLED65C9
Other notes, this came with a small 5v(usb) HDMI power injector which I did not have to use. The instructions state to use this if you get no display. Along with that the sticker on the box stated that this cable was GEN3/B
Unfortunately I was not able to connect, although I don’t think it was the cable’s fault.
I managed to get a full 4K HDR picture but for some reason coming back the next day the cable stops working. I suspect that the usb power boost doesn’t work correctly when plugged into the optoma and fails to sync the image correctly
This means you have to keep booting the ps5 in safe mode (and sometimes even this won’t work)
Contacted customer service and got a replacement cable for free. This one worked a little better but eventually the same problem started occurring.
Customer service was beyond excellent and I feel bad for having returned the cable and getting a refund after all the effort they put in place to sort my problems.
Five stars for their support.
I ordered in Jan 2021 and the cable shipped from Amazon instead of RUIPRO. The box and cable I received was not labeled 3gen/b and didn’t work. It worked only up to 4k@60Hz but black screen when set to 120Hz. I contacted RUIPRO and they shipped me another cable which arrived a week later. The box and cable were both labeled 3gen/b. The new cable is working with settings 4k@120Hz / HDR / 10 bit color. This is going from RTX 3080 to LG CX 65 OLED.
I bought this cable in an attempt to resolve an issue I was having with a new AV setup involving Apple TV4K and an AV Receiver. The 10m 4K HDMI cable I was using from quite a big well known high end cable company seemed to dislike it when I enabled the higher chroma settings on the Apple TV and was dropping the picture with some higher frame rate 4K Content. I decided to try the Ruipro (GEN3 version) as although I don’t need 8K support I thought it might help, and it has done the trick. I am now able to run the higher chroma settings etc from Apple TV with no issues. Cable seems well made and is much smaller and flexible than some of the more chunky HDMI cables. Very pleased so far. Please note I ordered through Amazon but went for delivery from Ruipro to ensure I got the latest Gen 3 cable.
Definitely a little pricey but worth it if you need the length. Cable is great if you bought a PS5 or Series X and you need 4k @ 120Hz w/HDR or 8k @ 60Hz
Using this cable to connect my HDMI 2.1 AV receiver and LG CX OLED TV. Using eARC and 4K 120hz with no problems. Would recommend.
I tested a bunch of cables, and this is the only cable above 15ft that supported 8K with the Denon 3700H receiver HDMI cable test albeit in only one direction. Surprisingly for short distances, my 5 year old Audioquest Pearl 6ft cables support 8K although there were no 8K back in the day, and they’re even bi-directional despite what AQ writes on them. However, when I tested the Cinnamon at 8m (26.25ft), and it didn’t pass the 8K test. So back to Ruipro, it was the only long cable that supported 8K but only in one direction. I saw some other reviewers commenting that it doesn’t work, so I posted the pictures of the package I got shipped directly from Shenzhen China via DHL. YMMV and good luck.
PS: if you connect this to AppleTV 4K make sure you use the USB/HDMI power dongle that comes with the package, otherwise Apple TV cannot show Dolby Vision or HDR content.
*** Update January 2021:
After about a month of continuous use, I see some random green flickers here and there on the screen. I switched back to a normal cable and they were significantly reduced. If I have to do it all over again, I probably wait until this standard has been matured.
Despite what some of the reviews say, RUIPRO are now shipping Gen 3 versions of this cable, and it works flawlessly – 4K 120, HDR, VRR, RGB 444, 12 bit color. I’m running this with a LG C9 and RTX 3080. I repeat, EVERYTHING WORKS and you’ll be receiving a GEN 3 cable or better when you do. Some of their older versions shipped did have problems, hence the negative comments saying C9/3080 combo doesn’t work. The VALUE FOR MONEY piece obviously is not great, hence why I removed some stars there. I get that this tech is new and getting HDMI 2.1 to work properly in a long cable length is not the easiest thing.
All cable manufacturers have found it tough to produce HDMI cables that work reliably at 4K120Hz (4K60Hz is easier) especially at longer cable lengths than say 10ft. Due to the shortages of 3080 video cards and of Xboxs, I am still chomping at the bit to test my new 6 meter RuiPro fiber optic cable at the highest bit rates. But my very positive experience as a RuiPro customer, and their lifetime warranty, make me comfortable that RuiPro’s latest “Gen 3” cable works at 4K120Hz — but also that if for some reason in my use case there’s an issue, then RuiPro will take care of me.
Bought this cable for my PS4, and I noticed an immediate improvement in both contrast, and brightness quality. Before buying this cable my PS4 picture quality was always dark, no matter what settings I tried on my Panasonic 4K tv. Picture also looked sharper. Now using it on my new PS5 console, and delighted with picture quality. This cable is well made, great value, and I would have no hesitation buying it again, and recommending it to others.
he 50 ft is stable with my 4k 60hz projector, no flickering and blackout so far, video quality is good without degradation of color and contrast. Just wish it could be less costly
Same issue as others on here. 4k at 120hz cuts out constantly. I assume its a bandwidth issue since the short cable that came with my Xbox works just fine.
Got a handful of these for future proofing. Unfortunately the only HDMI 2.1 capable device I have is my TV which is an LG W9 OLED. Using these cables to connect my Ultra HD Blu Ray Player (Panasonic UB9000) and PS4 – all works fine. So at least HDMI 2.0 to HDMI 2.1 is working absolutely fine. I am able to receive HDR/Dolby Vision and 4k/60 without problems.
I will be able to test the HDMI 2.1 capabilities of this cable when the PS5 arrives next week. I will update this review then with my findings.
Good cable, fits securely. Not had an issues with the cable.
They sent it out from China on a priority express delivery with Fedex and arrived in 3 days!! Now thats amazing customer service!! And yes it all works perfectly fine now with the above setup. Thankyou Ruipro and if anybody else was in the same situation as me get in contact with them and they will happily help
This represents excellent value for money. My amp has a tester system and this passes for 8k 60 which far more expensive cables couldn’t manage. It seems well made for the price point and rugged.
No complaints at all and highly recommended.
Having made do with bad/old cables these were an essential purchase along with a new TV. Picture/audio quality is noticeably better with these vs the old ones.

Excellent reliable cable and good quality. I used this for a 15m run from AVR to projector and no issues with 4K, just note the cable is directional.
Works perfectly. This it from an Apple4K tv, to LG tv. This also works when connecting the Apple TV via an LG sound bar and out to the projector.
Works perfect, really happy with the quality of this cable.
Next I tried a Monoprice 8K cable. It worked well though the Denon but wasn’t reliable when connected to the AppleTV. I killed this cable while outing it around the walls. Not sure how but it was likely my fault, so I had to eat its $180 cost.
Next I tried a very expensive ($400+) Celerity Tek UFO cable. It didn’t work at all. Perhaps it was just a bad unit. Returned it.
Finally I tried the RUIPRO. It works great from the AppleTV, the Denon and later a DirectV Genie. No flashing picture. No problem. Very happy to find a solution and this cable is great.
I used this cable to connect my fire cube to a 4K tv and it works perfectly fine.
A well made HDMI cable; we use this for our BenQ W2700 to our Onkyo AV without any issue.
It feels very robust and well made.
I was pulling my hair out trying to get my Epson Home Cinema 3200 4K, Denon Avr S750H Receiver and Apple 4K to work via a 25foot Monoprice 4K cable. To put it lightly I was going insane and pulling my hair out as to why I could not get a proper picture, no picture at all, just total darkness and confusion. It worked if I just plugged the hdmi cable from the apple tv to the projector directly, but no audio obviously. So I read the Denon manual, and it said for long runs you must use an HDMI fiber optic cable or a Cat5/6 Balun. It also said to use the HDMI port closets to the output port. This is where I was led to amazon and this product. I could not believe the high price tag, but if it did the trick I would regain my sanity. I spent days troubleshooting every possible setup and scenario with little success. I bought this cable on Thursday April 23, 2020 during this pandemic and received it early Saturday morning. I immediately opened it and did a dry run from my Denon receiver to the Epson Projector. It worked right away to go from 720P to 1080P. I then tried 4k and it failed on the first try, got a little nervous. But I restarted the Apple 4K and it went into 4k SDR on its own. I then tried 4K HDR, and it worked. Issue resolved. I then fished the cable through my my 1″ conduit (thank god I did that) and tested again and it worked out again with no issues. Thank you, thank you, thank you, you have restored my sanity. This cable is the real deal and works as advertised. I know there were other fiber hdmi cables on amazon for a much cheaper price. But I decided I wanted no more issues or down the road problems. This cable will solve your issue if your run is long. I ordered the 33 foot cable, even though I only needed a 25 foot one.
Great cable, sorted my 4k problems.
Also fast delivery without hassle, will order more when I need.
extremement satisfait du cable hdmi fibre 50 ft hdmi 2.0 18 gbp quant tu veux de la qualit et sans probme et perte de temps vaut mieux payer plus cher
merci ruipro
I don’t have 4K so can not comment on the 4K performance but this one does sorted out my issue.
After trying multiple copper HDMI cables for my more than 25 foot cable run, I finally found a cable that works!
Is about the best quality long distance operational HDMI can get.
Have a new projector. Get new one each 4 years, and now the performance can be 4K if streaming etc, so must have decent low loss cable. They are not cheap, but essential if want best picture quality.
Have a long run across roof, and down wall, and then to cabinet, so had to go for something decent…………
I need a 7m run from my AV Receiver to my TV and regular High-Speed HDMI cables just weren’t cutting it. I kept getting picture and sound dropouts when using the 4K Bluray player and Xbox One X and I tried quite a few different cables. This 10m Fibre HDMI cable solved all that. Is it worth the 87 I paid for it during Black Friday? Absolutely not, no HDMI cable is worth that sort of money but it solved my issues so I’m happy enough. Because it’s so expensive I can’t rate it with 5 stars though.
This cable solved my 4K HDR problem of HDR not locking in with my projector and my Win 10 Home Theater PC.
However, compared to other Fiber Optic cables this cable is about 30% to 40% more expensive. Based on Amazon reviews and the Audio Video forum suggestions to go to optical for my (40′) long run to my projector, I basically chose this cable. Afterward I saw a review of Optical HDMI cables of which this cable was highly recommended, there were two other cables that would have served my purpose for substantially less money. My advise, do your homework regarding the this type of cable.
The 10-meter cable can better allow me to switch between various computers and projectors, and each function works perfectly
Now installed this cable and getting 4k hdr perfectly!
very expensive but does what I wanted it to do, if you are doing a long hdmi run and want 4k hdr fibre optic is the way to go
his is not the first cable of this length (10m) I have ordered for my 4k bluray to projector, but it is the first to provide connection as one would expect. this cable is quite pricey, but is doing the job very well. came fast (overnight), quality seems good. smaller diameter cable made it easy to feed through ceiling channels for hidden routing and was very flexible. so far this cable has been great though only a week old and only a few movies in.
I was struggling to to get 4K content to my projector (require at least 35′ cable). I tried a number of high quality/expensive HDMI cables with no success … signal will cut out after few minutes. I’ve been using this cable for over a year not with 100% success. … have not encountered a single signal issue.
I was finally able to get my 4:2:2 Chroma settings on my Apple TV 4K over the 12 m I needed. Before buying the cables I also had to contact RUIPRO with some questions and they were fast to respond and were able to answer all my concerns. Great company to deal with and a great product. Highly recommended!
So far so good as I ran this before drywall went up. Fair price and great quality.
I am using this from my Denon AVR to an Optoma uhd 51A. I have run this up my wall, in my ceiling to the projector and it is working great. I expected it to display 4k @60 Hz and HDR (which presumably is 18 Gpbs) and according to the information display it is doing exactly that. I am very pleased with this HDMI. I also ran another generic hdmi cable same length to test and compare. The generic cable would not display, but the Ruipro worked flawlessly. I only wish at that price that the cable could handle 8k for future proofing. That said I do not know that it can or cannot handle 8k.
UPDATE: I continued to have dropped signals with black screen under Dolby Vision. The Apple 4K HDMI cable test continued to approve it for Dolby Vision. Bypassing my AV receiver (ONKYO TX-NR686) with a direct connection from the Apple TV 4K with the cable to the TV (LG OLED B8) allowed the cable to work perfectly with a stable signal in Dolby Vision. So, the passing of the signal through the receiver definitely degraded the signal or had a hardware issue that prevented the highest level of video signal. After almost giving up, I finally got a stable Dolby Vision signal with no dropped signal: I turned off HDMI ARC and HDMI CEC (at both the TV and the receiver) and made sure I didn’t connect to any HDMI that had ARC capability. AND I updated my Onyko receiver with a recent new firmware update. It’s perfect now.
This product really makes the difference wantching a 4k movie and 3D movies which before I can’t reproduce from I my pc to my TV. I always thought there was a problem with the computer, but no it was tha cable not capable of handling the signal.
Highly Recommend it at 40ft!
I have a small media room with a TV and receiver on opposite ends. In an attempt to eliminate wires from view I spent $300-400 plus 4 or 5 weekends wiring RCA, Speaker wire, Cat 6, HDMI, and even electrical through the ceilings and walls. The final piece I was missing was the ability to push 4k@60hz with 4:4:4 color via a run longer than 25 ft.
I tried 7 or 8 high end / expensive HDMI cables which advertised the ability to do this which all failed. I got smart after the first test to run the cable across the room first before wiring through the attic… Every wire I tried failed right out of the box. This wire does what it says it will do and worked after pulling through the attic and walls. Finally no more visible wires and perfect picture quality.
I have a Denon 4400 running this 40ft (12m) cable through the attic and walls to an LG OLED B7 TV.
Seems to be working good. This is the 3rd HDMI cable that I’ve bought and so far the only one to work with a 4k 60fps signal. Haven’t used it lots but the results are promising. Have been noticing slight flickers now that I have had it a month, don’t know if it’s the cable or something else.
My setup for reference purposes:
JVC D-ILA X550R
Anthem MRX 720
Oppo UDP-203
Oppo BDP-103D
Xbone S
Roku Ultra
HTPC w/ Plex
I trialed a load of premium rated 4K HDR copper cables. One or two of these worked at this length however did not once in my real world situation. Ie in a roof that has power cables as well.
Then did some research and the voltage drop over copper cable at this distance came up as a consistent problem at higher data speeds. So tried two 5 metre cables joined by an amp that worked OK some of the time but not always( generally if you had lights on in the room causing disruption). But this was the best standard solution I found ( Onyx Black diamond 5m cable supplemented with an HDMI amp – as an aside also tried several amps as well. Basically none that claimed to have the speed required to run 4K HDR worked when they just used the hdmi cable as a power source) )
Then tried hdmi over CAT6 using some recommended converter pairs using solid core cat6 cable. This ran to 1080p but would not run to full 4K at hdr 60 hertz.
I also did try a cheaper optical hybrid hdmi cable but this did not work at 4K. Then did some more googling and found a forum populated by AV installers. A deeply geeky place but there seemed to be concencus around this cable as the one that works at 10 m plus ( Which by the time you have to run a cable up a wall and around a steel and along the length of room is quite easy). So as the only cable after a considerable amount of time effort that works faultlessly it gets my grateful recommendation.
This is 10 metres running up a wall and along a roof past spotlight cables from an Apple 4K tv to a 4 k projector.
( If running 1080p hdr at this distance several of the premium certified cables worked and is a much cheaper solution)
Works perfectly at 4k@60fps, Full RGB/4:4:4 Chroma, no flicker, no “noise”, amazing stuff 🙂
Expensive but does its job.
I attached a photo to show how small the cable is compared to a copper hdmi cable of he same length. One small gripe I have: the outer cable jacket is quite high friction. This makes pulling the cable through conduit difficult! So make sure you have a helper and possibly use some conduit lube.
So, the cable is being returned for refund. I’ve ordered another and will update this review very soon. Hopefully this was just a one-off bad cable – but it doesn’t bode well for quality control.
—- UPDATE —-
Second cable arrived and so far seems fine. I ran the same test and no problems were seen at 1080p60 or 4k30. I don’t have a 4k60 (18Gbps) source so couldn’t test that.
Worth noting that the cable did NOT come with any HDMI dust covers – which is vital if you’re installing the cable somewhere, which given its length is quite likely. The serial number label fell of the cable, but the general construction seems good.
So now up from 2 stars to 4. If I get any issues, I’ll update this review again.
I bought the 33′ foot RUIPRO Fiber HDMI cord because I read a report on avsforums that this HDMI can pass HDR 4k@60fps.
There’s only 1 movie that I’m aware of right now (Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk on UHD) that utilizes those specs, so I bought it as my test material. I first tested that movie with the current HDMI cord (32′ Binary HDMI 1.4 cable) and HDR was being down-converted to SDR.
With this new HDMI, I was able to get HDR! I was also happy that the cord was very flexible and had, what appeared to be, nice solid HDMI connectors. The cord was also very light and was packaged well double boxed.
Be aware that these are active HDMI cords, so you need to connect the correct end to your display (projector/tv) and the correct end to your source (Blu-ray player, HDMI out on AVR, etc). At each end of the cord it specifies which end it needs to be connected to. No additional power source is required for this active cable, like my last active cable.
For those of you who may be interested, I’m using the Sony UBP-X800 UHD Blu-ray player, Yamaha RX-A3060 AVR, and JVC RS420 projector.
