Performance as expected good
First steam generator iron we have had very pleased with its ease of use and the amount of steam produced. Like that it has on /off switch on the unit very useful when using it while doing sewing projects ( intermittent use) steam takes a couple of seconds to get to the iron but this was as expected and not a problem

This was a replacement for our previous one that stopped emitting steam, mainly because my wife didn’t read the instructions about changing the filter, so it got blocked with lime scale. So we got this model which she’s very pleased with, and will be changing the filter as necessary and also filling up with softened water.

Easy peasy ironing
It’s lightweight, it has lots of steam and a long power cord and steam hose so plonk the base unit on your ironing board and get going, ironing is now soooo easy wish I’d bought this years ago.

Ironing over and done in minutes 👍
Fabulously easy to use, the steam is generated after only a few seconds. The iron glides over fabrics, and it takes only seconds to iron a top/shirt. Reccomend this iron, it’s brilliant.
Liked the performance
Great performance, my only criticism is the blue light down the front is not good. When moving the iron around the light is like a strobe and made me nauseous. I had to put a sticky label over it. My fear is it causes a seizure in epileptic users. Don’t know why it needs this long blue light right down the front, I have emailed Russell Hobbs directly to express my concerns.

Really like this iron. It’s lightweight, heats up quickly and the water hasn’t run out yet, despite getting through 2 full baskets of ironing yesterday. Takes a bit of getting used to when to push and release the steam button, takes a second or two before the steam comes through but irons really when you get the hang of it. Also a great price on Amazon.

I found this Steam Generator A BETTER PRODUCT THAN THE ONE FROM Morphy Richards.
My only Criticism is Can not fully empty the Water reservoir.

Time to switch from normal steam irons
Having used conventional steam irons for years which always end up sticking to certain fabrics, I switched to this one. It is incredibly easy to use and is lightweight which is useful for people who cannot manage heavier models. This is the best iron I have ever owned.

Easy to use, good value.
The steam it produces is more than enough for standard household ironing. Some of the reviews have said about the time lag in the steam button being pressed and the steam coming out. There is a lag but it does work and you get used to it.
For the price, it represents great value.

Positives, heats up really quickly, easy to fill and empty and nice weight.
Negatives for me are the blue light on the iron is very annoying it has the same effect on your eyes as ironing a stripey top.
Also steam doesn’t stop for a while after releasing the steam button.
I would have given full marks but for these couple of niggles.

Good, light iron. Unfortunately, there is an edge on the iron that catches on edges of clothing that creases these edges, hence the 4 stars. Also gets too hot for some cottons. Everything is else is very good. Light weight and easy to use

This replaced another RH generator iron we had, seems to work well, takes a bit of getting used to the delayed steam on and off when using the trigger but no complaints, nice smooth base plate makes the ironing easie

After dropping my iron and breaking the sole plate I was in need of a new one . After reading the reviews I chose is one . I’ve had steam generator irons in the past but I have to say this is my favourite . Light weight quick to heat up and hot enough to iron with out steam but a good amount of steam when needed. It was half the price of my last one and the overall performance in my opinion is much better . Glad my old one hit the deck now

For the price, you get a great iron with strong steam capability. I love the limescale collector as this usually clogs my irons up but with the Russell Hobbs you can just remove from an insert. Irons my clothes well. I recommend this iron for everyday items.

Flat out amazing
I got this iron today and I honestly could not wait to write this! I love to iron, no shame, and this iron is super light weight but amazing! I previously had a Tefal similar one and it was so heavy I don’t know why I’ve not swapped sooner! Limescale filter and a second filter with removable water tank, easy storage and a plug space. Highly recommend!

This is the best iron I have ever owned! Irons all clothes easily and quickly. Steady stream of steam at all temperatures. It is very lightweight which is great if you have to iron a lot of items or you have problems with arthritis etc. The water tank is easy to fill and lasts ages. This iron makes ironing an actual pleasure rather than a chore.
When I started to research Steam Generator irons the price gap was incredible, ranging from 60 to 500 depending on brand! This really left me in the thought process, the sub 100 bracket should be avoided! However after reviewing the bank balance in the Covid-19 world I opted for this one! All I can say this iron packs one mighty punch. The iron generates generous amounts of steam, the water tank is huge and pretty much lasts a full basket, the iron gets blistering hot, pretty much everything you need in a iron! I like the fact it can be stored upright too! Also the iron comes with an additional 12 months warranty if you register the warranty, so you will have peace of mind for under 100 you will have a decent working iron for at least 2 years!
For a fair and balanced review my only negatives are that the rubber clips that hold the iron in place when not in use could be tighter, the iron easily becomes loose when knocked, the steam isn’t instantaneous and you have to wait 1 second every time you push the steam button. However in fairness to Russell Hobbs, would I pay another 100+ to achieve a instantaneous steam output? Absolutely not as in my opinion! In all honestly each item takes 30 seconds to iron anyway!

I was undecided if I should get another steam generator, I had one years ago that cost a fortune but then had an ordinary iron for the last few years! Wow am I glad I decided on this one, it hasn’t yet had the test of time but irons brilliantly and for the cost is unbelievable!

Good product and low price makes it a no brainer.
Overall the product is good and very good value for money. There is a short delay from pressing the steam button and receiving the steam and there is overrun for quite a few seconds on the steam emissions after releasing the button which means it is ejecting steam after you have returned the iron to it’s seat on the tank. Other than that my only gripe is the stupid sticky label on the side of the tank which leaves sticky residue on your new iron when it is peeled off. Why not use a vinyl tape label? Small thing but annoying none the less.

I have used steam generator irons for years and have often paid much more than I did for this. My old one broke during lockdown and I needed a new replacement.

Worth the money
Presses well and heats up fairly rapidly. I love the fact you can turn it on or off at the base and not just at the plug. It’s sturdy and well made.

I used to HATE ironing until I got this. After two colleagues recommended this at work, I decided to buy it. I was sceptical at first, but as soon as I used it I was surprised how mu h easier it makes ironing.
I actually enjoy ironing now as it makes everything easy and quick to iron, and it all looks very smart and crease-free. It heats up quickly and produced lots of steam.
Love that you can fill the tank up and it lasts for ages, haven’t ran out of water yet. I use filtered water in it to avoid having to descale it.
Would 100% recommend!
I read some mixed reviews but decided to buy because I have had three irons of this type (not this make) before and all were more than twice the cost of this iron (all failed within a two year period so I was not going to spend very 150 again). You can rest the hot iron on the soft rubber mounts and the mounts do hold the iron in place BUT be careful when transporting from room to room. Steam is very good, water tank holds more than enough, heats up quick. I can recommend this iron.
A few months into using this iron and I am very happy. It is quick to heat up and very easy to use. I used to have a really expensive Phillips one that was better but not much better considering the massive difference in cost. Good value alternative to the crazy expensive steam irons available to buy but still gives you the advantages of a good steam iron. I recommend.
I got this to make getting through the school uniforms a lot easier and quicker. I was sceptical that an iron like this would make any difference after a friend suggested a steam generator iron to me. It makes a huge difference, once it has heated up ot stays hot unlike the traditional style irons. There’s no running over the same areas of clothing twice, makes really sharp creases on shirts sleeves and trousers and the huge water capacity gets rid of interruptions.
Does the job in half the time.
This iron coupled with a wider ironing board has halved the time it takes for me to iron the many sheets I need to iron as part of my work. As the water reservoir holds more water I do not have to keep adding water. There is a lot more steam so it’s more effective. The iron is a lot lighter so less likely to give repetitive strain injuries. Ironing used to be my least favourite job, but unbelievably I don’t mind it now. Love it!

You have to wait a bit for the steam when you press steam button but works fine . It is good for the money
This is a good overall design. I have used a Bosch steamer for years but limescale build up created brown marks and spluttering after a couple of years so hope this will not be a problem with this model. The most annoying thing compared to the Bosch is the steam delay after pressing the steam button. It takes a few seconds by which time if you are ironing a small area like a sleeve or collar you have dry ironed the area before the steam arrives so you end up steaming the ironing board rather than the item! I can’t seem to get the timing right so far – having used an instant steam generator like Bosch! It also initially makes a worrying juddering noise and takes a while for the first steam jet to get going. The steam doesn’t seem that intense but it does get the creases out of very dry cotton bed sheets and pillow cases better than my old Bosch. No spluttering or marks so far but early days to know how efficient the lime scale filter is. I am using filtered tap water to keep scale down to a minimum as these irons are way too expensive to keep replacing!
A great iron, our old one broke and we were worried that this one might not be as good as it was much cheaper. We were pleasantly surprised – it is very light but has good steam and gets creases out easily. A silly thing but the handles really help moving it around no worries about touching a hot iron. A great buy.
First time steam user but I am not 100% about this one, the tank is quite awkward to pull out and fill and the steam seems to do what it wants when it wants. Having said that it is a vast improvement to the tiny iron I had so I am very happy. Maybe I will upgrade at some poi

Easy to use
Makes ironing easier definitely. It’s easy to turn on, adjust steam and temperature, no fiddly stuff. The cord clip and plug storage make for good useful features, and the handles make carrying easy although it’s not heavy anyway. The water tank holds plenty of water, is easy to fill, and just pulls out. The only reason for the 4 stars is the base unit gets really hot when in use, not something I had with my other iron. All in all I’d recommend this iron.
AFTER THREE YEARS
his has been a good iron for 3 years, sadly steam generation has dwindled down and filters are almost impossible to obtain even from Russel Hobs. despite changing filters regularly the machine has finally limescaled up so that there is virtually no steam generated. Filters are the downside, why a cleanable system could not be fitted i do not understand.

I found this easy to use it glides better across the item when using the steam but then I use steam all the time I rest it back on base every time I need to put it down so when it hot and the base has not been a problem to take the heat I have found it to be a very good purchase
I’ve been using a Philips steam generator iron for a few years and think this iron+generator+water tank design makes a necessary household chore as easy as possible. I’ve got to say though that this Russell Hobbs version is definitely an upgrade for several reasons but lacks in other areas.
What I do like:
* It’s so much smaller which makes storage easier and gives you a wider option where to use it as you don’t need such a large surface space to put it on.
* The maximum steam setting is powerful enough to iron 2 layers such as a top or a pair of trousers without turning the garment around and ironing the other side of the fabric. Not quite powerful enough to accomplish this for jeans though.
* The plug socket storage is a great idea; it’s a shame this wasn’t developed further to allow the electric cord to clip somewhere. Instead it dangles loosely even when the plug has been slotted into the storage socket.
* The temperature is adjustable using the control dial.
* There is a handy hose clip at the side of your base that you can clip the steam pip into to keep tidy and store safely.
* You pay for the smaller dimensions with a significantly smaller water tank. This Russell Hobbs holds less than a quarter of the water my Phillips does but still handles a good load of laundry before it requires a refill.
* It only takes one minute to reach temperature for a low or medium steam. It does take a smidge longer for the max setting.
* The steam trigger is sensitive.
* You have the option to steam or dry iron.
What I don’t like:
* The iron does have to cool down before you can safely store it on the generator base.
* This means you can only leave it on the board during your ironing. My Phillips one can be rested back on the base whilst it is hot when I’m quickly folding laundry or taking a quick break.
* Placing the iron back on the generator base can be a little fiddly as it has only balances on 4 small plastic clips.
* The product page info touts a ‘continuous refill feature’ which I think implies that you can refill the reservoir/water tank without removing it. Nope you always have to remove the tank in order to fill it, but the iron doesn’t switch off when you remove the tank.
Overall this is a fantastic steam iron that is really simple to use both as a standard iron and vertical steamer. The iron has a smooth glide over different fabrics, and the temperature range ensures crease free garments without any damage to your more delicate fabrics. Heating time is quick but you do have to wait at least an hour after use before you can store this iron away.
