Good ol’ fashioned timer, no battery needed, functions well with loud ring. It’s of course not as accurate as the electronic, but how often do you need to time to the exact quarter minute?

I bought it for my mum. She can use it easily and I think it is really useful. Its sound is enough to hear when it rings. I dropped it many times but it continues to work properly. It has good quality.

Very easy to set, just have to remember to turn round to 60 each time before setting time you need.
No battery to replace. Great for those with arthritic fingers. Simple to use in every respect. Sturdy.

Saw someone mentioned that the ring was short – realised you have to load it first by turning timer 360 then to designated time to ensure ring is long and loud.

Works ok. You have to turn it all the way round to maximum time and then back to the minutes you want, which I find a bit awkward. Also the ringer rings for as long as it wants to, you can’t stop it.

It replaced an egg-shaped one that gave up after 3 months. This lasted for 18 months, so I guess I should be pleased, although I can’t help thinking that such a simple mechanism should last for a bit longer. While it worked, the ring was long and loud enough; more recently it has been perfunctory; a sign of imminent demise, I suppose. whenI have time and the right screwdriver, I shall take it apart to see if I can work out why it failed; I suspect it wasn’t meant to last too long to ensure future purchases.

What can you say about a timer except that it does not take expensive batteries that need to be disposed of. You can carry it around with you. Has a very loud ring.

It’s a sad life when you get over excited about a kitchen timer but it’s got to be said, this is a really good one. The alarm is loud but not too loud, and it goes for about ten seconds so you can’t miss it. Even better, it stays put on the kitchen worktop. All the others I’ve had tend to move slightly as they tick away, especially as they get older, and usually end up dropping off the edge and smashing on the floor or drowning themselves in the sink. Not this fella though. A good buy.

This ‘old fashioned’ timer works well compared to fancy gadgets and one can trust the Salter name. It is one of my most useful things in my kitchen.

I prefer the old fashioned dials rather than the digital it is alot easier to work. Very clear and easy to use. Would recommend

The switch, including the surround, is all black. From a distance, it is difficult to see where it is pointing

A good reminder of when you need to rescue something from the cooker, or wake you when taking a nap!
