    This USB C hub is really good. In my country, you cannot buy this and if someone sell this product, the price is insanely expensive, about $200. I’m impressed with the quality. All ports are working fine. You can use both SD cards and MicroSD at the same time. I have tried plugging in all the ports and it can handle it with no issues. People complaining about the HDMI is not 60Hz. For me, 60Hz is working fine and support HDR too (amazing!). The only thing is, the USB ports is only USB3.0 and 5Gbps. It will slow down my SSD speed a little bit but I’m okay with it. My mouse receiver dongle will lag and jump due to interference caused by USB3.0. So I will use another USB C to USB A converter for this. Lastly, the hub is not hot when using it. Overall, I can easily recommend this product to other people.

    When I got my 16″ MacBook Pro I needed to connect 3 external SSDs, 43″ 4K monitor and 1GB ethernet. I checked several hubs and docks and found this one, which has all I need at a fraction of the cost of Thunderbolt hubs/docks. This one is USB 3.0 which is fast enough for high data transmission to the SSDs, and still support a 4K monitor and 1GB ethernet connection. I have a had it for a few weeks now, and I am very happy with it. I used velcro tape to attach it to the back of my huge 43″ monitor, together with the SSDs and I just see just one lonely cable going to the back of my desk taking care of all my peripherals!. Highly recommended.

    I got this usb c hub because it was what apple recommended and Best Buy tech so I got one on Amazon. They charged a larger price and it really worries me to pay more for something that I can get half the price on Amazon. I didn’t want to fry my port as some say I can do with other hubs, so I got this one . It is so nice, fast, and easy to use and looks like apple made it, the color match is wonderful. It looks like it would scratch easy so buy a case for it , but it is so fast and works flawlessly it mind blowing. So glad I got it, and it’s smaller then the picture showed so that was good to.

    I’ve been using the Satechi USB C Hub Pro hub for 5 years or so and decided to get the On the Go for the ethernet connection. Using an iPad Pro to connect to an XR18 with USB and ethernet, and bluetooth midi to a couple of other devices, this is the best thing since sliced bread for my music performance setup. Light, small, and reliable. The only con, though, is that I had to purchase a separate power adapter to charge my iPad Pro. But definitely not a deal breaker.

    Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI had a problem with USB hubs for my MacBook Pro getting really really hot. I had my external HD connected to it where I store all my data, so I was nervous that the hubs got that unreasonably hot. I tried a few different brands, and they all got pretty alarmingly hot.

    I went to an Apple Store and asked which hub works best with Macs, and the store employee recommended this brand to me, explaining that he’s never had trouble of the hub getting hot.

    So while it cost a lot more than other brands, I decided to try it out, and I’m sure glad I did. While this hub gets slightly warm to the touch, it’s nowhere close to the alarming level of heat my past hubs generated. I feel safe plugging my devices while I work. It’s worth your money.

    This is a great little dock for the iPad or even a MacBook Air. It comes with a 1m cable and has a nice 6in cable that tucks inside of the dock when not in use. It’s got the ports you needs USB-A, HDMI, Ethernet and even a VGA port. It’s got SD card readers and 3 USB-C ports.
    It’s great to be able to use this to hook up an ipad to my tv or monitor when I don’t have airplay. Or for a projector at school or work for a presentation.
    There are cheaper docks out there but this sturdy aluminum build and reliability will be hard to match at a cheaper price.

    Very versatile and easy to store.

    KILLER FEATURE: THE EXTENDED CABLE

    The choice of standard and extended cable, both replaceable, sets this hub apart for me.

    Using the extended cable, the hub can be placed inside a cable tidy box, leaving only a single cable out that goes into the computer.

    This makes the desk much neater than it’s possible with conventional hubs that only have a short, non-interchangeable cable, and therefore hang on the laptop’s side.

    CORE FUNCTIONALITY

    Everything “just works”, flawlessly, for my home office with full-time video calls.

    The laptop charges at full speed with the passthrough power delivery functionality.

    My setup consists of the following.

    Direct connection:

    * Macbook Air
    * 65W USB-C Charger
    * 100W USB-C power cable
    * 4K Monitor via HDMI
    * 400 Mbps internet via ethernet cable
    * External SSD drive (USB 3 type A)

    Indirect connection, through a secondary, daisy chained USB 3 type A hub built into the monitor:

    * Full-HD webcam
    * wired mouse
    * Wired keyboard, occasionally
    * External USB microphone, occasionally

    This leaves me with spare connectivity, which I have already tested and is just there ready to use when I need it:

    * two free USB 3 type A ports on the monitor
    * one free USB 3 type C port on the hub

    Everything works perfectly by connecting the single extended cable that comes with the hub.

    BUILD QUALITY

    Single block of aluminium, pleasantly solid and satisfyingly well made.

    I only wish the specs of each port were labelled more clearly.

    LIMITATIONS

    * The USB 3 ports, both the two type A and the one type C are “only” 5 Gbps instead of the full 10 Gbps USB 3 capability.
    * None of the USB 3 ports can charge other devices, although they can drive low consumption devices, such as a high-end webcam, with no problems.
    * Not all specs are clearly specified for each port, one has to scan the product page and ask questions to find that info.
    * The labels on the port are very difficult to read, when they are even present.
    * The VGA port is completely useless in 2021, why anyone bothered adding that is anyone’s guess.
    * There is no Thunderbolt capability, only plain USB 3, so no USB type C monitor connection, and no ultra high-speed data transfers, for those who need that level of performance.

    CONCLUSIONS

    I confidently recommend this hub to anyone for a complete home office setup.

    It provides everything that is needed for a home office, with some capacity to spare. At this time, June 2021 there is no need to spend over 250+ on higher end docks if all one does is home office (even an intensive, fairly demanding one.)

    My previous setup was based around a 15″ MacBook Pro mid 2015, and a few weeks into this single-connection setup, able to provide all the functionality I need is still a novel and exciting experience for me.

    Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersIn an ocean of dongles, no one seems to understand the needs to real users, when it comes to creating an excellent hub for MacBook Pro or Air with Thunderbolt ports. This unit from Satechi gets some credit though, as it tackles very basic and necessary connections needed by most people. First of all, one negative is that, in order for this hub to do anything, it needs to be plugged in to electricity on the PD USB-C port on one side, it does not even ready SD cards without power so, just connect it and you can use it. Second, the same complaint as many others out there, it slows down my external SSD to 315MB/s, as opposed to 425MB/s I get from my older iMac with USB 3.0 ports, unfortunately, dunno if that is coming from the circuitry in the Satechi hub or from the Thunderbolt 4 ports in my MacBook Pro M1…Sad! Well, the 4k output is great, I’m even able to drive my 55in Vizio 4k TV, reports 60Hz 4k and that’s all I need. ***One important fact, this Amazon posts says the unit does not provide power from any of the data ports in the unit, even the manual says nothing about but, in reality I was able to charge my iPhone 12 from the USB-A 3.0 that is exactly across from the USB-C / PD port on the other side, so it does provide power on that port only. The ethernet is great, the VGA output port is hard to understand…why do I need that these days?? I wish it had another HDMI 2.0 or at least a DP port or something else. Overall a good unit and I would still recommend it!

    I have a 2020 16″ MacBook Pro and have tried a number of hubs that could offer what I was looking for: under $100, ability to charge independently or with power through, USB A ports, HDMI and SD card slot. Biggest thing was ability to extend to my 34″ Acer monitor quickly and cleanly. Among others, VAVA was so slow to get monitor to respond (sometimes over a minute). HyperDrive was a little better but don’t like the fact it needed 2 of the 4 USB C ports to do so. But this little guy did the trick and so far couldn’t be happier. Monitor extends and pops on within a few seconds, charging my laptop happens with my own charger plugged into it, and has the ports I needed. Inclusion of VGA seems odd, but I guess trying to appeal to what, the old school corporate projector crowd? And I have no need for ethernet (why is this on EVERY hub sold??). Solid, compact design, nice long detachable cord (as well as an extra short one), so as of now, the clear winner in the sub $100 usb-c hub crowd. Glad I finally found one that worked without forking out over $200 for a more robust desktop version.

    Satechi makes some of the highest quality accessories, aimed at the Apple ecosystem. This USB C hub is a perfect match for the current Macbooks and it matches the space gray color option. The build quality is equal to Apple laptops, with an aluminum unibody design. This has pretty much everything you need to turn your laptop into a desktop, or just connect older peripherals.

    This is not a Thunderbolt dock, it’s a USB C hub. This can only support a single external display, but the M1 Macbooks can only support 1 external display, so that’s not a huge deal. It’s worth mentioning because it has both an HDMI and a VGA port. You can you both, if your computer supports it, but not independently, so they would have to be mirror images of each other (the two external displays). The HDMI supports 4K/60Hz and VGA supports 1080P/60Hz.

    For USB ports, you get 2x USB A or standard USB, 1x USB C for data only, 1x USB C for supplying power to the hub and the computer (up to 100 watts via Power Delivery, but that includes 15 watts needed to power the hub itself). Then you get a Micro SD slot, full size SD card slot, and Gigabit Ethernet.
    There is also a full featured USB C port that is used to connect directly to the computer with one of the two included cables. One is short and slides into the hub to save space, and the USB C cable is longer. I love that they include both of the options. They are both high quality USB C 3.1 gen 2 cables.

    The USB A ports are 5Gbps, 3.0 ports. They support a power draw of up to 900mAh for devices connected to them like keyboards or mice. I can’t find any info about the USB C data port, I assume it’s the same 3.0/3.1 gen 1 speed.

    This hub also works well with other laptops that support charging and video out over USB C. I tested it with a Windows device and everything worked perfectly. This is intended for Macbooks, but there is nothing about this product that will conflict with computers made by another brand. This is perfect for taking with you everywhere, the all metal design makes it extremely durable and it’s small enough to fit inside a laptop sleeve. I highly recommend it and I think it’s worth the price since it will last much longer than a cheaper plastic hub with less I/O.

    A good match for a premium laptop, solves the problem of not having enough ports

    Amazing usb c hub
    A little expensive but works better than cheaper brands like anker and aukey that have faulty connections.
    I wish it had one more usb A port though
    I love that it can be portable and also it also comes with a long usb C cable C so I can set the hub anywhere I want and not just close to the laptop.

    I used this adapter on my 2018 15″ MacBook Pro with an internal SSD drive. I should note I use my computers for graphics in Illustrator and photo editing in Photoshop, not videos.

    I recently had one of my iMac’s die so I tired my MacBook Pro with an old 20″ external Dell (VGA) monitor as well as a new Visio 24″ HD smart TV (HDMI).

    The HDMI worked great with the Visio at 60 MHz but due to the TV image quality being too dim with limited color adjustments, it was not desirable. I then switched to the old Dell monitor. I had to use the VGA cable connected to the VGA of this adapter. Amazingly it connected immediately and resolution was good. I also purchased a VGA to HDMI adapter to see if there would be any difference. There was not so I went back to the VGA alone.

    I have other adapters and tried the HDMI on one of those. It worked at first but shortly failed due to the monitor not receiving output from my laptop. I do not have that issue with this adapter.

    Since my MacBook uses USB-C alone I was able to test my external Samsung SSD T5 for transfer speeds both with a direct connection and through this adapter. A 2.7 Gb file through the adapter took 90 secs. I did this four times. A 1.3 Gb file took 31 secs and remained the same after four tries. I then connected my SSD directly and the same 2.7 Gb file took 5 secs. At no point did I experience any file transfer errors. Using both USB-C plugs resulted in identical times.

    All other ports worked as expected, even the ethernet. The small USB-C cable is nice but too short for my usage. I use the longer cable which is a handy addition most adapters do not provide.

    Bottom line, this adapter provides pretty much all one needs tor a variety of devices.

    PROS:
    – Compact multi-port design.
    – Additional long USB-C cable.
    – VGA connector for older devices.

    CONS:
    – Slow transfer speeds.

    De ce fait, le HUB grce son long cordon USB ne pendouille pas et ne force pas sur le port USB du PC comme le faisait mon prcdent.

    Pour utiliser ce HUB sur mon PC portable, j’ai d y installer dessus un adaptateur USB A mle vers USB C qui doit tre branch dans le bon sens sur le port USB C sous peine de ne pas fonctionner.

    Tout fonctionne parfaitement, un vrai plaisir.

    Donc trs satisfait de ce HUB pour ses 9 possibilits de branchements et sa trs bonne qualit de fabrication, ainsi que son cble d’alimentation dtachable et trs long.

    Je recommande

    J’espre que mon commentaire sera utile votre dcisio

    2 big differences from all other hubs motivated me to purchase this:

    Detachable cable _ not just one, but two.
    One short one stores in unit, another long (about 1 meter) one is provided.

    +USB-C data port – much more convenient and faster – don’t have to find a USB-C to USB-A cable, most of my cables are USB-C to USB-C

    Well designed and made. Aluminum construction. Works well. No issues.

    Have not had a chance to try everything out yet. Amazon sent me an email asking me to review it. So far I am very pleased with it.

    The only thing missing is power. A dedicated power cord would have nailed this as perfection.

    Of the 4 USB-C hubs/docks I’ve purchased this is the first that I’ve had no issues with.

    Just the detaching cable for this price point along is worth the extra money.

    The dock I got for home has USB-C and DP connector issues, the other hub I got with a fixed 6″ USB-C cable has a flaky USB-C connector. This is the first that has been plug’n’play on my MBP 16″ and 32″ monitor.

    I only tried it once, and the outbound USB-C won’t chain a monitor (but that could have been me), but, for the price point and the no-hassel nature, it is so worth it.
