How to Create the Perfect Sea-Monkeys Habitat – Tips for Sea-Monkeys Owners
Here are our top tips for getting the most out of your Sea-Monkeys:
1. Water temperature– It is vital that you refer to the temperature chart on the instruction leaflet, the colder the water the longer it will take for your Sea-Monkeys eggs to hatch. The ideal temperature for the fastest hatching is between 24 and 27 degree Celsius.
2. Egg anatomy– All Sea-Monkeys eggs vary in shell thickness, therefore those with thinner shells hatch faster and those with thicker shells take longer. This is natural biological variation.
3. Healthy light- Place your tank in a north-facing window so that it gets light, but not directly in sunlight. This will help algae to grow which the Sea-Monkeys eat.
4. Feeding- Feed your Sea-Monkeys only when the water is clear, too much food will cause them to suffocate.
5. Evaporation- If you notice the water level decreasing in your tank refill with bottled drinking water which is at the same temperature as the tank water.
6. Help! If your Sea Monkeys experience falls short of your expectations please contact our customer services team and they will be happy to help you.

Our daughter eldest keeps asking for a pet put don’t really know if she will be interested and we said let’s see how it goes with the sea monkeys. It took more than seven days to see them and at so tempted to say it was a failure but now we can see them and she give them names even. Brilliant kit for curious minds!
Lasted longer than expected
so bought these in March 2022 and they lasted till July 2023, didn’t take much to keep them alive just followed instructions and left them on the fire place, topped water up occasionally to the line and in the end was only feeding once a week, if you think there is nothing there try adding a little water so some of the rubbish from the bottom swirls round and give it a day or 2 as there may be some babies. just make sure not to keep picking up the tank and moving it around as that is what my nephew kept doing and his didn’t last so long.

These were the best sea monkeys I’ve purchased in the many years of purchasing. They have continued to breed. Definitely advise using the hottest area for them to hatch. Sea monkeys also enjoy bright lights (gets them more active). Definitely recommend.

After a few days- one hatched. But it’s huge and I wonder if it ate all the others before they had a chance.
Cool little kit, we grew loads of sea monkeys, which was surprising! They do like to ‘have fun’ togetherwhich is probably a good thing as we accidentally topped off the adults with too much food. Little ones still going strong thoughdon’t overfeed the weird little romance driven things.

I followed the instructions to a T and I have so many sea monkeys! I think they’re adorable it’s super hard to get a decent photo of them though! One tip though, now it’s summer I’ve moved them away from the window as the water was getting too hot for them and killed a few! They’re on a table near the window and now I have two that are pregnant and tonnes of babies
Over a month later and they are still thriving. They are getting big (about five millimetres long.) and have reproduced healthily. I have their home on a shelf under my turtle’s UV lamp, as well as a shotglass of water so the temperature it the same when I refill what has evaporated. When the water level goes down a centimetre, I refill. When a couple start swimming near the top, I give them a (provided) spoonful of food. Wishing I had gotten them a bigger tank, but I am happy with their progress. They are now big enough to see details, such as the black dot eyes, antennae, and fins! It fun watching them swim about!
I bought these for my 12 year old, for a solo pet project (we do also have lots of other family pets!). He thinks they’re ace. They seemed to be taking a few days to hatch initially so we moved them closer to the radiator and then they hatched very quickly. I think they all must have hatched because there are loads swimming about now. They grow pretty quick too but the container also has magnified areas to look through so you can see them in more detail.
Bought for nephew, he thought it was amazing that little shrimp were swimming around in his room and loved the fact he could feed them, the only problem is little kids love to grab stuff, my neice decided to grab at it one day and tipped the whole thing all over herself, neice and nephew both crying and i had to clean a whole colony of shrimp out of the carpet, Would definently reccomend for kids over 10, keep away from the younger kids.
I got these for my daughters 4th birthday, I remember owning some when I was a child so thought it would be a fun childhood memory for her too. The step by step instructions aren’t entirely clear – they suggest using warmer water but you have to leave the water for 24 hours until you add the eggs so… the water goes cold by then??? The eggs eventually hatched around 5 or 6 weeks later though! I find them more fascinating than my daughter does they give plenty of growth food too which should last quite a while. The actual vessel could be better designed and more sturdy, its just plastic and it seems like it can be easily knocked over. I’ve dropped the lid in the water a few times too after feeding
It takes longer for results than you think (unless I just couldn’t see them because at first they’re so tiny.) Just when you’re about to give up and tip them away BOOM out they come swimming around.. went from seeing nothing to several overnight, so be patient. Possibly took 4-6 weeks for me to actually be able to see them.
This product is SOLID and has been on the market for years!
It is a good value educational sort of product but my only gripe is WHY do you not allow customers to select a colour? It can’t be that hard surely?
Annoyingly I got this for my sons 6th birthday and guess what colour we got…Yep… PINK! .
I have fond memories from about 20 years ago when me and my cousin brought these exact kits!
We were in constant competition on whos would grow the biggest, until one hot summers day, I became the victor!
He had kept his on the windowsill over a scorching hot summer and they eventually boiled to death so be careful where you put them… they are supposed to like direct sunlight but if you see them squirming about, it might mean they are on the verge of boiling to death.
I have never seen or heard of these kits failing to hatch.
They are just super simple to setup and my kids were hyped waiting for them to hatch and grow.
The novelty does wear off with the kids though and the tank just ends up taking up windowsill space, with the sea monkeys just aimlessly swimming about with no real ambitions or enjoyment in life.
As long as they are happy, I will let them live out their days in the windowsill…

Even though my uni studio was pretty damn cold because the heating was broken, they still hatched after around 2 days. They have definitely grown from October (when I got them) to early December and I did see a few more babies there. However, I had to return home and have not yet seen them so they haven’t been fed for about a month and 3 weeks (when I go back). I don’t know if they’re alive and I will be very sad if they have crossed the rainbow bridge I did prep them by giving them a lot more food than usual and they are teeny tiny, so maybe there is hope? I will update when I am back
Update: one survived for sure! Another I found was moving and was too weak to swim 🙁

So my son wanted a dog and I decided we would start with sea monkeys and work our way up. Maybe get a mouse next? We had these years ago so I was hopeful they would be the same. The container seemed a bit smaller than I imagined but it really works. Just follow the instructions exactly. I will be honest we set it all up, then after a couple of weeks, not much happened. We went on holiday for 2 weeks and came back to what you see in the video. So we haven’t necessarily been feeding them as much as they have said although my son was quite generous initially so they might still be gobbling that up. I would certainly buy it again and great for a young child, mine is 6 and he thinks its great. Still not sure if he is ready for a dog though.

The only thing that I would say is that when I put the eggs in it’s not just the eggs in the packet when I put them in the water there was what looked like little wisps of ink in the water totally made me think I’d been scammed but as you can see in the video not even 24 hours later I has little babies swimming around 😀

It’s been really good, I saw the sea monkeys on day one (they were little black dots moving around like bacteria) and watched them grow, for some reason I had loads of babies and then only ended up with 3 adults. But they had even more babies and now there is loads again. I currently only have one female who has been there from day 1. I would definetly recommend, I was very exited to watch them grow and enjoy watching them swim around and looking at their different aspects because not one is like the other.

We opened it up, poured in warm tap water, and stirred in the purifier, let that settle for half a day, i then put half a packet of the sea monkeys eggs in, within 2days we had about 10 swimming around, we have left it in direct sunlight most the time, the water is quite warm, we feed them once a week and top up with bottled water.
Id recommend reading reviews about how to look after them rather than intructions, we havent had any problems yet.
They are growing quite big now and we still have half a packet of eggs left.

Got this back in may for under 10 easy to set up all eggs hatched and are still thriving too many to count in tank and having been breeding like rabbits over past 2 weeks unbelievable how quick the grow and interact excellent value for money
The set is cute, and my daughter was so excited when the sea monkeys started hatching. Unfortunately excitement turned to disappointment when, despite following the instructions to the letter, the babies all died within a few days. However, after a couple more weeks of neglect more sea monkeys have appeared and seem to be surviving, so perseverance seems to be the key!

When i received this yesterday, I got almost all the pieces. I got the tank, feeding spoon, food and eggs but no water purifier. But I did get 2 food packs so I have some water purifier for fish so I use some of that. I hope they hatch.

The eggs didn’t give me many baby sea monkeys however and they died quite quickly. Ive seen online that sometimes the eggs in the packets dont do so well so bare that in mind.
I got eggs and food from somewhere else and have plenty of babies now, but I highly reccommend this kit for the tank alone!

After looking at other reviews i think people expect to see the sea monkeys after a few days. I bought this for my daughter who has had them before. If you put them above the fire ( they like warmth!) you will see some tiny dots after a couple of weeks. You cant see them properly for at least a month. Definitely worth it after that!

Following the instructions included, we have had all of the eggs hatch. Within a fortnight, a handful of the sea monkeys starting mating and we now have two pregnant females, with full egg sacs. We are yet to see these pregnancies birth. We keep the little tank right next to a radiator to keep the water warm. According to the instructions, keeping the water warm encourages growth. We dont have a windowsill that gets good sunlight and is warm, so we put them by a radiator instead. We weren’t sure this was going to work, but it certainly has and the tank is flourishing. They swim a little slower the day before they are due for their weekly feed, so we feed them once every 6 days instead of every 7 now that they are bigger. The kids are over the moon with them. All in all, a great purchase for just under a tenner.

A good number of them have hatched at different times and are growing well. The packets made in the USA confirming it is a genuine sea monkey product. The purple pipette squeezer that comes with this kit makes it very easy to aereate the tank. The tank is the size of a large tall mug, fits very well on the desk. Thanks!

I bought highland spring bottled water to use.
The tank is very small which I like as it doesn’t take much space.
I set it next to a Window/ heater. I also used a pipette to add oxygen to the water instead of just Stirring.
I aerated the water with the pipette daily. I didn’t think anything was going to hatch as it looked so lifeless but carried on with the pipette For a minute or so each day. Then on day 4 around 5 tiny little sea monkeys appeared. The next day there were 12, next day 17, next 20, I fed them a small spoon of the included food a few days ago and now on the 8th day of life in the tank there are at least 25 tiny sea monkeys swimming around. They are quite hard to count as they are so small and swim fast.
Hopefully they will keep growing so we can watch them grow into adults.

Was unsure if any of these would hatch due to reading reviews but bought and hoped for the best.
I bought highland spring bottled water to use.
The tank is very small which I like as it doesn’t take much space.
I set it next to a Window/ heater. I also used a pipette to add oxygen to the water instead of just Stirring.

Great, we have about 7or 8 after 7 days. Fascinating for a 5 year old.

Love sea monkeys, got a good deal on these however only 3 monkeys which only lasted a day! However I would buy again!
So many people who have had sea monkeys usually say theirs didn’t work. It’s because the water need’s to be quite warm for them to hatch! Don’t put them somewhere cold or where the temperature changes a lot. I have so far had 5 fully grown ones (4 passed away) but 2 of them left eggs so now I have a few older ones and a bunch of baby ones as shown in the video! These 100% work as long as you are patient enough, and then they grow so fast before your eyes! 100% worth it. Don’t feed them every day or they will suffocate in their own food, make sure it’s only once a week.

Very nostalgic! Unfortunately my tank had a tiny hole in which I didnt notice until I had already put the water purifier and eggs in so I will be sending it back. I would advise to fill up the tank and check for leaks before putting anything in there. Thankfully Amazon’s returns policy is really easy. Will be reordering.
