This is a great microwave. I had to buy another one ever since other one broke, and I’m a huge fan of Flatbed microwaves, instead of the circular turnstyle ones, which feel a bit old schools and are just annoying when you have plates that are large and hit the sides when spinning.
It has a nice dark mirror-type reflective front.
The reason for 4*’s is because of the below 3 notes:
Note 1, by default, the beeps are quite loud, so using early in the morning (6am), could easily wake people up! So beware that you should MUTE it if thats something that would bother you too.
Note 2: It came with the Child Lock on, so you have to make sure to figure out how to turn it off, and I had to google it because it wasn’t written in the user manual!
Note 3: Once your heating something, you can’t extend the time. You have to wait for it to end, and set a new time. Bit annoying, but manageable for now.
Other than that, a nice microwave!
Fairly easy to use except for the auto cook function that only gives a code that you need to reference to the manual to use, plus it would be nice to have a pre-printed manual that you didn’t have to print yourself. But all in all a good machine, no turn-table but with shelf and swallow tray.
It is too small to fit in a microwave baby bottle steriliser, BUT it can fit an average sized dinner plate quite nicely.
It looks really smart and the buttons are so easy to use.
I know some people complain about the buttons not working, but that only happens if you do not open the microwave door first. I think it is a type of security feature to stop it being used by children when nothing is in there maybe? It is easy to clean and mine get’s daily use and has lasted great so far! I grew up with old manual dial microwaves so usually I stick with manual ones.
I thought I would try a digital microwave for a change and I am not disappointed!
I will update in a few months to reveal how it is fairing in the longevity department!
I am very pleased with my sharp combination microwave it does every thing I want it to do there is nothing I dislike about it and it is good value for the money.
I am so happy with my purchase of this microwave with grill. It says 800w, a little slow but overheats the food within 2 mins. The grill is ok but not brilliant. I put a slice of bread in for 2 mins under the grill & another slice in microwave grill. One in normal grill came out perfect, while micro grill came out crispy but not grilled. Go for 1000w maybe. 20 ltr is a little smaller, but ideal for me though.
My old microwave had broken, it was at least 7 years old. So when I looked for a replacement I was quite surprised by the cost of them. Then I discovered this Sharp 20L with digital grill for a very reasonable price. It’s ideal as I live alone and did not want anything too big and heavy. So far I am very pleased with it. If I have one complaint it’s how the feet on this do not grip the countertop I had to buy heat resistant silicone mats to place underneath to keep it steady. Overall I’m happy with my purchase
Lovely looking and very practical microwave/oven/grill. Scatter energy so no need for turntable makes this much more user friendly than the older types of microwave. Performs well and is very versatile. Very good value for money.
I needed a powerful yet compact microwave for my kitchen, and the SHARP YC-GG02U-B fits the bill perfectly. It’s surprisingly roomy for its size and the 700W power cooks my meals quickly.
Only real negative is the cavity LED (the bulb that lights up when you open or use it) stopped working. It was purchased towards the end of 2021 and the bulb lasted around 2 years – maybe that’s standard, but seems less than previous microwaves. They are cheap to replace though.
The digital controls are straightforward and have all the settings I need for basic cooking and defrosting. The grill is an added bonus for when I want something toasted.
It has a modern look that fits well in my kitchen. Cleaning is simple too. For the price, this microwave is a great buy — I’d definitely recommend it!
I needed to find a compact, easy to use microwave for my mom. This microwave is perfect and much improved to my old microwave. Dishes heat up quickly. I’ve been cooking jacket potatoes and they come up a treat. It does steam up when cooking but leaving the door open is the perfect solution. Overall, excellent purchase.
However, it came with no instructions and thus you have to work blind. The controls don’t illuminate, so you need good light. The control buttons can be a bit intermittent to operate.
Despite the few drawbacks, I think it is a good machine.
I found it too light and would slide back on worktop when door push was used. On flipping it upside down can see they did not fit rubber feet on rear. I put some silicon feet on and no more sliding around. Also found panel not too responsive when buttons pressed. There is a protective film over it, so remove that for better response.
Overall a great little nuke machine, and recommend it .
Looks good and is well made with excellent performance and easy to use.
I’ve never liked microwave baked pot6atoes, but this does a brilliant job of them in just 5 minutes.
Very highly recommended.
We only have a Microwave to help defrost, or heat something up from the fridge. We don’t use it to “Cook” but this is a very useful little microwave and easy to use. Our last Sharp microwave lasted 23 years so I also have faith in the brand!
Just the right size and so easy to use.
Used the microwave for heating my porridge and other things. Look forward to using everything thing else. It was a shame it didn’t come with a manual for cooking recipes.
I have had this for about two months now and it’s been a good buy
Only negative I can mention at the moment is the knob can’t be as precise as a digital one but if you don’t mind turning a knob it’s absolutely awesome
4.8 stars
A- A backlight feature for the buttons activated by touching the knob would be a helpful addition.
B- Placement at mid-height inside the oven can lead to uneven cooking; food farther from the door tends to cook first.
I am particularly impressed with the grill function. When food is placed at mid-height, the grill is highly effective, though caution is advised to prevent overcooking. Both the microwave and grill settings perform well for cooking bread. The convection function also does an excellent job.
Also, although the grill seems to work well enough (without heating the top unduly), the supplied rack is quite low, so things like cheese on toast seem to take an annoyingly long time to cook.
Love this microwave had one before and changed it for a fancy one which I hated so bought this again easy to use easy to clean looks good, highly recommend.
very easy and simple to use. grill needs extra time if you place your food on the bottom plate but that’s cool, i prefer cooking slower for longer. i should imagine if you stick it on the raised grid thing it would probably burn the food but i havn’t tried that yet. really liking this cooker. i will report back on its longevity and reliability but for now it’s an easy 5/5 for me.
The grill/ micro wave combo settings are t clear set 1 2 and 3,now is 3 more grill and less microwave if the other way round .. used often I guess you just remember , I don’t use so often .. otherwise nice simple “turn the knob/ buttonless microwave:)
I got this for 106. A bit pricier than average but for looks and quality, I’m glad I took the plunge. I only wish it had a wheel for more convenient time selection. I’ve not used the grill yet.
Eco mode just turns the screen off.
There is an auto child lock on it so the buttons do nothing until you’ve opened the door and closed it again.
I wish there was a mute function. There is no need for microwaves to beep when finished. It’s obvious they’ve finished because the microwaving noise itself stops.
This one does 5 beeps but it’s not particularly loud so it’s not so bad.
There is a kitchen timer on it (because why not) which I’ve actually found pretty handy for setting alarms for other things like boiling eggs on the hob.
Very excited to receive my new microwave.will keep you updated, old one had seen better days and more.
bought this for my little studio room, bright display annoying at night cannot be turned off or change colour, had to use orange sweet wrapper to reduce the ugly blue light, beeping goes on even after door opened and after ending, two beeps enough
Just what I was looking for. Easy to use. Simple disks. Very efficie
Many reviews say that this is noisy – yes, it can be, but I just ensure that I stop it before the bleeper goes off.
Large enough to fit a standard size dinner plate.
100% recommended.
Looks good, easy to use and surprisingly a decent internal size. My only gripe, and others have mentioned, is the quantity of condensation after cooking, hence only 4 stars. I’ve had loads of microwaves over the years without condensation issues but this one needs mopping out after certain foods. Literally water pools under the turntable. On the plus side it is spotless every time you go to use it!
Will have to do for 12 months when I will get perhaps a better one which provides information for different combination cooking
small high power easy to use, my last product was samsung this is cheaper and bette
No issues so far, takes a little to get used to
Good value for money and easy to set up and use one thing though no tray for grill rack crumbs etc drop straight onto glass turn table
Easy to use only fault with me is have to push quite hard when selecting programmes
I like the product except the door opening and closing would prefer a handle one
I really like using this product. Clear instructions given for use off. Can be used for a great variery of dishes. The added grill is a bonus too. Easy to keep clean, and a good size.
Fast post arrived in good condition, looks lovely and feels strong and sturdy. Definitely worth the money I recommend this. Easy to pick a time to cook, easy to pick microwave or grill. Easy to set the time. I have changed my microwave 5 times over the years and I think this is the best one I have purchased. It’s easy to use and not to hard to use it. I would pay 150.00 for this microwave so getting it for 80.00 was a cheep for what you get. It looks very expensive in my kitchen.
Good replacement for my old microwave – cooks perfectly and has good features.
The presentation of the manual itself deserves 5* as a A5 12 page booklet printed clearly with a good sized font and good contrast against background paper. However the whole manual content consists of safety warnings. Now I am all for safety, and understand Sharp would want to protect itself from any litigation some idiot might want to try. However, there is nothing to help a new user into getting the maximum benefit from the appliance. That is only available by accessing the full manal on the website.
In my opinion, more thought should have been put into providing the full manual within the pricing constraints.
Pongs to high heaven for the first few uses.
The smell really was objectional and only cleared after several hours.
Were I to buy another I would stick it in the garage for the first few uses.
Apart from that it’s fine.
Great price, good brand, easy to use and plenty of functionalities.
Selected to replace an antiquated item, working ok but confused by the power settings, I was used to selecting power in Watts as displayed on all microwaveable products, this has another system, I get very hungry while I’m calculating.
My first microwave.. easy to use looks nice not too big
This was the perfect microwave for us, it’s sleek looking, easy to use. I would most certainly recommend i
Nothing . But a bit complicated going through all the functions on it .
This is our first microwave for over 20years. Chosen for its size and the reviews submitted. It heats evenly and quickly. The grill is a useful addition, although not as powerful as an oven grill. Overall we are pleased with the purchase.
It a great microwave.. fits well in my small galley kitche
This is also the first time that I’ve had an inbuilt grill and it is impressive with almost instant heat and cooking fish was quick and they browned nicely. Jacket potatoes are fast plus get a crispy jacket.
You can use a combination of microwave+grill and can select the proportion of each to be used and here the instruction manual is very useful. For simple microwaving it works so logically even a child could guess it, if they can overcome the child lock! Strangely, and cleverly, the control panel won’t work until you open the door, so little fingers don’t start it accidentally. (After the initial opening the controls work whether the door is open or closed).
A niggle, and I was about to return the machine because of it until I worked out what the instructions meant: the beep is loud and it beeps a lot. It will beep when the cooking is done and then beep every two minutes until you open the door. Poor neighbours! However you can mute the sound completely: open the door, press the child lock once, quickly, and “off” appears briefly. The downside though is it doesn’t tell you when the cooking has finished.
Overall, excellent machine, large enough for couples (bigger version available for families), it is compact, well made and I’d recommend it, even with the b**ping beeping sound!
