It’s a microwave and does what it needs to do. Very easy to use and looks lovely, my favourite feature is the vents are in the side so I can put things in the top without it overheating
I needed to replace my old microwave and went for this one, the price was extremely good, having tried out various options I have found it produces perfectly cooked food. Having the option to use various preprogrammed makes it very versatile and perform perfectly. It produces perfectly hot food on various powers. The stainless steel finish means it fits into the kitchen decor easily.
I haven’t used a microwave for years as I live on a boat. However, when I ran out of bottled gas for my cooker and couldn’t get a refill easily, I decided to buy this microwave as I had a fridge full of food going out of date. Luckily all of my ready meals are microwavable and I was surprised how this microwave is easy to use. Now I use it for heating most of my ready meals including soup, cereal milk, and rice pudding even though I now have gas for my stove. It’s so quick and easy as long as you follow the rules on the back of the packaging. This microwave is so simple to operate and clean after use. The bonus is, it uses hardly any electricity. A great buy!
Microwave ove
This machine is not a all flags and whistles microwave oven which is basically why I bought it, I wanted a genuine microwave oven which is cook and tell it’s done, defrost and tell me it’s done, I’m very happy with this oven and it from sharp, which is recognised manufacturer and best but it didn’t cost the earth, I totally recommend buying this produc
the touch panel isn't that easy to use.
I think the touch screen could be easier to use is quite hard to press the the buttons in, and it’s not that obvious when you first use it and to adjust the timing.
there’s a nice finish to it and it looks easy to clean and the light inside is bright enough to see what’s happening.
We liked it and it is versatile and most efficient and my relationship with it might have continued for many years but 3 years down the line the internal paintwork (black enamel) has started to blister exposing bare metal below, which I cannot think is anything but UNSAFE.
I would like Sharp to inform me and prospective customers of this respec
This one is to replace my previous Sharp microwave which has served its purpose with no problem for over 10yrs. Now just beginning to rust inside.
This new one is fabulous. Smaller in size but same litreage.
Looks impressive in my opinion and takes up less space than previous one.
The only down side is it comes with NO MANUAL USAGE GUIDE. Having said that it is easy to figure out IF you have owned one before.
To set your cooking time manually press the microwave symbol as shown on my picture then your required time then start button.
If you press the start button only it is programmed for a 30 second use.
The rest of the programmes i believe are self explanatory.
Microwave
Bought this as a gift for my son .
He only has one complaint , the microwave has plastic feet so tends to slide when the door is pulled to open it . I have remedied this by cutting round pieces from a silicon cup cake case and placing these under the feet.
Microwave
Don’t like the fact that the light only works when the microwave is on and not when the door opens . Also there seems to be a big build up of steam which leaves the inside soaking wet . Could do with bigger vents .
I love the product and description clearly states manual included, however it isn’t nd after many discussions I was involved in 3way conversation with amazon and Sharp and sharp have not rung me back as promised to sort sending me a manual. I do not have means to print and reading instructions on the phone is not practical. I am still waiting despite being promised a call from sharp 4days ago and it took 3 chat attempts to get assurances that have not been fulfilled. This may seem silly to most but as a person with disabilities, it is frustrating and still no resolve. Not happy!!
After reading alot of the reviews was a bit sceptical however generally I’m pleased with this microwave. Well made/finished good internal size simple to operate functions well and easy to clean.
Size is not as advertised and it’s a bit clunky and buttons can be a bit unresponsive but it easy to use and I’ve got used to it!!

SHARP YC-MS01U-B Compact 20 Litre 800W Manual control Microwave, 5 power levels, defrost function, LED cavity light – Black
Pros -1) Easy to use – just set the power and timer knobs. Theses are manual controls, not electronic so hopefully will prove reliable in the long term. If you like “uncomplicated” then this is for you.
2) Compact size so ideal in a smaller environment.
3) Appears well made and looks good.
4) Value for money.
Cons – 1) Internal light only comes on when cooking. All other times it is off.
2) Supplied with a Quick Start Guide leaflet which is very basic. You have to download a more comprehensive leaflet on-line.
3) No warranty details apart from ” Take unit to a dealer with proof of purchase”.
Easy to use, simple controls
I bought this for my 84 year old mum so it had to be easy to use and she is pleased with it and seems to be getting on OK using a microwave for the first time. Fits a regular sized dinner plate so capacity is obviously OK too.
As I am elderly and. Suffer with eyesight problems so needed a microwave.that was easy to use it took quite a while to find this one as most microwaves are digital this has two knobs one for time and one for heat settings easy to use inside is stainless steel and easy to wipe clean overall it’s a compact nice looking microwave heats up quickly I’m well pleased
Looks same as what displayed in pictures.
Functionality as advertised
Easy to wipe and clean
No issues with touch buttons as described in many reviews. Sealed button style is perfect for everyday use preventing dust particles going in the switches.
Overall best experience so fa
Wanted a similar microwave to the one I was replacing and found this as the same make only slightly smaller. It holds a large dinner plate so perfect for us. Controls are very easy to use and clear. We wanted one with seconds as some things we warm up only need 20 seconds and some microwaves only do minutes and that’s to long. We have now used it for four weeks and have no complaints as working well.
Straightforward and Easy to Use
Excellent and easy to use microwave, with good volume and power range. It is straightforward to use. My only complaint is that the duration of the operation is difficult to set accurately as the controls are simple rotating knobs with no numerical digital gauges. The door is simply pulled to open, so no push button. However, these are the things that makes it easy to use.
So if you like things simple and easy to use, this may be one to consider.
Not the cheapest, but a good reliable brand – this is the second of this make that I have used. Its been in use now for about 6 weeks and so far so good.
Wobbly inside plate
The delivery was fine; it is a good product, however it is let down by the inside plate which barely slots into place and does come off regularly, unless I was given the wrong one for the product, hence less than 5 stars.
To Heat Or Not To Hea
This replaced a more expensive Panasonic which eventually failed after 20 years. It is unfair to compare the two but I cannot help it. The Panasonic was larger and pretty well all stainless steel whereas the Sharp is not . The inside is painted in a dark blue – a lighter colour would have been better.
It looks smart and certainly does the job so I would recommend i
Bought for my mother who is in her 70s, she loves it, finds it simple to use and easy to clean.
No added features you never use, just straightforward, stylish and easy to use!
I am still getting used to it at the moment because it seems to be more powerful than my old one, it seems to be a good easy to use microwave, I use it for cooking vegetables, reheating and starting food off prior to the oven or air fryer. It does what I want and at reasonable price, no complaints off me.
Good size and ideal for small family. More powerful than I thought and heats up food far more quickly than my old microwave. Taken 1 point from review as the start button can sometimes be a bit fussy to operate if you don’t press it dead centre.
Smaller in size and slightly lighter in weight. Quiet and not so load ping. Light only comes on when in use so you can leave the door open to dry out the inside. Its very dark so cant see any splashes on the inside. Always cover food to avoid moisture build up.
I think it had been dropped as it doesn’t stand flat. It’s working and I have already waited 5 weeks for it. Nothing fancy basic microwave.
Quite small, definitely no good for large family unless only heating drinks, soup etc. No large dinner plate fits. Okay just me. Instructions on microwave small writing, but all in all suits me fine. Price and delivery was good
The black one lasted me around about 3 years due too leaving the door open after cooking and the back window opened a tad. I add too put it out for scrap yesterday minus the plug. As it was extremely dangerous too use and was turning into a rust bucket inside. A few weeks before I noticed brown specks. I guessed it was Rust on the newspaper it was standing on, on the kitchen table. I was still cooking food it upto a week before. It looked ok inside. I didn’t notice any signs of rust appearing. Tuesday it didn’t. Cook my microwave oven readymade macaroni cheese dish. It seemed too be cold. Hot underneath the plastic dish. And I don’t know about the small fly that fled in beforehand. Source me leave the door open a tad after cooking too let the steam dissipate. It saves you keep buying a new microwave oven every 12 months, or less. Found this method out by accident. Nothings ever mentioned in the microwave instructions books about this old method of mine. I Even posted it on Facebook.
I love that the inside is a beautiful grey and not white. It has lots of useful functions but doesn’t fit dinner plates bigger than 10 inches or 25 cm. 5 more centimetres inside would have made all the difference.
It does make a lot of condensation, so needs wiping out after each use to prevent rust, but other than that a great addition to the kitchen and we’re fairly happy with it.
Missing one star as it doesn’t fit a standard dinner plate and has the option to heat a dinner plate.
Does the basics very well, but over-engineered
Innocuous build and design, so it’s unobtrusive, and same size as the one it replaces. However, unlike its predecessor it’s rather over-engineered, and the display is very poor – it really should be back-lit. However, for the present it’s good value for money.
No fuss
Given to a friend for Xmas & he likes using as easy to use but no instructions given or recipes so had to help him out on what could be cooked.
It works
The controls require a lot of pressure, I am concerned this in time will reduce the ‘lifespan’ of the microwave. . Otherwise I am happy with my smart functioning new microwave
Basic model, does its job
Reviewing after 2 months use. This is quite a basic model but doing its job fine. One annoying aspect is that the rotating plate is loose and often comes off and need to be put back to the correct position. Overall recommended if you want something cheap with low to medium usage needs.
Replacement microwave
Having had my old microwave since 1978 I was in floods when it eventually gave up the ghost. Minefield chosing a replacement. It’s OK but definitely not as well made as my old one!
