    Best purchase for coffee, eve
Ok, so I like my coffee. Tried a Nespresso machine along time ago before they sold the capsules in shops, then a lavazza machine, then Dolce gusto, then back to a Nespresso due to availability in shops. Still not happy. Finally came across this fantastic machine. Does what it says on the tin. I use roast 4 (co-op, first bag a bought to test machine. Used others since but co-op is brilliant) set to latte and did the perfect cup of ‘shop bought – barista’ coffee in my home. Great froth and hot. With other machines that do the milk, I have always had to put in micro for 20 seconds to get the correct temperature.
Easy to clean and a great price.
My only little minor niggle is that a small bag, about 240grams, won’t quite fit in the container. Leaves about 2 expresso portions in bag.

If you’re looking to try and create that barista experience from home without spending an obscene amount of money, then look no further. I invested in this machine in the hope it would curb my spending on coffees to go and 5 weeks in I’d say it’s job done. I’d highly recommend the use of jersey milk if you’re big on your lattes or cappuccinos as it’s less watery and froths up nice and creamy just like in the coffee shops. It’s also worth noting, if you’re using really cold milk then the end product isn’t going to be hot enough for a lot of people. Simply stick your cup of milk in the microwave for 10 seconds for a fairly hot brew or up to 30 seconds if you enjoy a face melter. Alternatively, you can use the “milk button” to heat and froth your deink some more.

Golden Review Award: 12 From Our UsersReally great one-touch latte! Read on for Froth Advice...
I’ve been looking for a decent bean-to-cup machine for a while now, to replace my pod machine. Not wanting to pay full price, I’ve bought through Amazon Warehouse – and in the past had a disappointing result with two Delonghi Eletta machines (both were faulty). So when I saw one of the these machines come up for a good price, I thought it was time to try again.

Firstly, when you look at this machine you don’t initially think it does a one-touch latte – but it does. The milk frother is right in the middle, on the front, and slides down into the milk in your cup (check Youtube for videos). Once that’s done, a single press selects your milk-based coffee drink and it froths-away, then grinds & ‘pours’ the coffee. The frother is easily removed, cleaned, and put back on again afterwards.

In fact, I prefer this frothing method to the old one on my pod machine (which had a tank of milk that you had to keep in the fridge). I no longer need fridge-space for it, nor do I have to worry about the milk going off, nor do I need to clean it – since this machine doesn’t need one. So what you think is a down-side to this machine (since you expect there to be a milk tank) is actually a big benefit. Also, I no longer need to pre-heat my coffee cup – the frother does a good job of heating the milk as well, provided you don’t add too much cold milk in the first place.

The (faulty) Eletta machines I tried (first one didn’t pump water, second didn’t clear itself of previous coffee pucks!) were bigger and noisier than this one – so I’m kind of pleased that they had to go back. Internally, they had mechanisms that moved the grinder up & down the machine – this one doesn’t (it remains stationary). So I guess that means higher reliability for this machine as there’s less to go wrong.

Overall, after 2 weeks of owning and using this machine every day I’m very pleased with my purchase. I’ve made the switch from pods!

Edit: Unit still going strong, but sometimes I found it difficult to get decent frothed milk (from semi-skimmed). Only when I noticed that this coincided with organic milk did I realise that this was the problem. Apparently the pasteurisation process for organic milk affects the proteins that are needed for a decent froth. As soon as I switch back to non-organic, a decent froth was restored!

    Edit 2: MORE FROTH ADVICE!
My froth started getting worse and even non-existent at time, but after investigating I eventually found out why – and it’s all due to the need for the frothing system to pull-in air to mix with the steam. There were two reasons for that air to fail to be mixed:
    1) Where the frothing nozzle rubber ‘plugs into’ the unit’s plastic plug, it’s possible for scale/milk residue to accumulate in a small groove on the right-hand side of that plug. Once that’s blocked, your froth can suffer or even disappear completely as that’s where the air is sucked in. So keep that groove unblocked (and I don’t think this is covered in the manual!).
    2) If the frothing nozzle rubber makes too tight a fit at the top of that plug, then again it seems like this restricts the air that can come in to be mixed with the steam. Again, I think this is down to scale/milk residue building up over time.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersPerfect for expresso and milk drinks for all the family
I bought this to cover all the needs of our household. I personally like expresso and Americano drinks, my partner likes latte’s and cappuccinos and our teenage kids like oak milk and soya drinks. This machine does it all. I bought the milk accessory (basically just the milk pipe) to draw milk from the oat and soya containers in in the fridge (the standard milk container holds cows milk that is kept chilled) to make it easy for everyone.
The coffee is hot, the crema is great and if you treat yourself to some insulated glass mugs, you can see the layering on the milk drinks like a piece of art. The speed upon switching on is pretty quick too although it will flush itself before making the coffee so if you place your cup under when you switch it on you will need to empty the cup (however it’s hot water so it does the job of pre-warming it).
The self cleaning is great, however the drip tray can fill up quickly due to the last cleaning flush before it switches itself off. I now keep a small cup under the spouts to collect the flushed water. The whole brewing unit slides out for cleaning and the grinds can sometimes fall out of the internal bin onto the unit so keep an eye on that but because it is so easy to remove you can just rinse it under warm water.
The ground coffee option is great for pre-ground coffees (I keep a tub of decaffinated for certain guests) and it’s very easy to adjust the variables (strength and volume) through the buttons beside the display.
I will order the bean collar to allow more beans to be loaded (the unit sits under the kitchen wall cabinets and its a bit of a pain to pull out and refill otherwise.
If you like hot chocolate then you can simply chose from the speciality menu (the button on the far right) to just chose steamed milk which is really handy.
The real test is whether my mum can use it and due to the colour images she can easily navigate through the choices.
I’ve owned Krupps, Dualit and Jura machines and they are great for the individual who knows what they like (expresso, the theatre of frothing milk with a thermometer etc) . However the modern family often likes all the speciality drinks and this machine just does it. Even I now delve into a the odd flat white and soya milk latte – because it’s so easy.
Order the water filters at the same time (strange how it doesn’t come with them) and maintenance pack to keep on top of the care (the machine will prompt you when to use the tablets etc).
I use either Lavazza or Cafe Nero beans and it always give a consistence taste. The two cup option is also handy if you want to fill the larger insulated cups for a car journey (you can make two 200ml cups of Americano which easily fills a large car mug).
This is simply the best coffee machine I’ve owned – and the family can now enjoy proper coffee, in their style too.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersEasy to use
I had a Siemens surpresso for 13 years – 2-3 mugs of coffee every day for that time, SO reliable. Sadly, it finally gave up the ghost and a similar replacement from Siemens wasn’t available. Since then I have tried (and returned) a de Longhi which was awful, and a Breville ‘barista’ type which I didn’t like either, despite raving reviews online.
The Siemens is proving to be almost as good as my old Surpresso. let it warm up for 3-4 minutes though.
The milk frothing option is very easy,… the frother spout comes off the unit almost too easily…but is easy to clean.
Cons – it does NOT use ground coffee. If you want a ‘lungo’, you have to do two caf cremas, and reduce the bean strength to 1 or 2 if you don’t want it too strong. bean strength choice is 1,2 or 3 on the top of the machine.
Grinding beans – inside the bean container there is a small and rather poor dial to choose your coarse/medium/fine ground. It hardly moves, and I think would break easily if changed often. Coffee is as good as the beans you choose. If you can’t use fresh roasted from a local specialist shop – use an Italian make as their roasting method makes the favour/taste quality last much longer if stored properly. I hope this is helpful!

    Love it, love it!
Bought this to replace the annoying DeLonghi that broke. It is fabulous. Easy to use, coffee stays hot, cleans itself at a reasonable pace (not every 5 minutes like the DeLonghi!). Still pretty noisy, but not much you can do about that. Highly recommend!

Golden Review Award: 19 From Our UsersEnvious glances from Delonghi owners! But Broke after 6 Months :(
Bought this as a Christmas present to ourselves having grown tired of paying through the nose for inferior coffee from our old Nespresso machine.

We have not been disappointed. Using quality beans the espresso is excellent with a good crema. The milk based coffees are also very good, and we particularly like the one-touch latte program which saves mucking about with different cups or jugs for milk and coffee.

Only downside is that the drip tray needs emptying rather often, particularly because the machine pumps water through itself when going into standby around 25 minutes after use. But by keeping a pot under the nozzles after making coffee this is alleviated to some extent.

Overall we are delighted with the machine, and it has drawn some envy from recent visitors who have a Delonghi machine.

Edit – we have now had the machine 6 months and the coffee grinder has broken, so it’s being sent to Siemens to fix it. 6 months is not very good longevity!

Golden Review Award: 18 From Our UsersOverall grea
We’ve been using this machine for a while now and overall have found it great. Its so easy to use and to clean, and has a slick design that looks good on the countertop. From a taste point of view, having freshly ground beans for every brew is such a luxury without any of the hassle of prep.

Like any of these machines that do everything for you, it does mean you don’t have complete control over the coffee size you prepare, which as someone who is fond of large coffees, I find somewhat disappointing. The largest caffe crema you can make for example, is 200ml. Not a huge deal as you can add extra hot water yourself from the kettle if you wish. However, the cappuccino size is only 100ml, and for a latte its 150ml (plus the 30 or so ml of expresso added). This is fairly small sizing if you’re used to takeout coffees where the average latte is around 250ml. If you add more milk to your cup than is advised by the machine, then insert the milk frother and press the button for your desired coffee, the frother will only work for the length of time to make the recommended milk amount hot. So if you have added more milk then it won’t heat completely and your coffee won’t be hot enough. You can adjust the frothing time of your drinks by pressing the button manually and guessing the amount of extra time you need, then pressing it again to turn off, but this is guesswork, so it will take some trial and error to figure out how long it will take to froth milk for your preferred taste if you have added more than the recommended amount of milk. There is no thermosat which tells you how hot the milk is.

Also, the frother is quite short, and is designed to accommodate small cups of milk, so if you like a 300ml cup for example, this won’t be as easy as you’d like.

None of this will be a problem if you’re happy with smaller sized coffees as my husband is, and he finds this machine nearly faultless. The only other issues are that you’ll need to buy the cleaning tablets for the calc n clean function separately, and the filter tablets for the water container.

Overall this is a fab machine, and I would highly recommend if you want great tasting coffee at literally the push of a button. But just be mindful about the limitations on coffee size if you like larger drinks.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersExpensive but worth i
We’ve had this for about a month and I’m still over the moon. I’m absolutely a coffee snob, I always buy the best quality fair-trade roasted coffee beans, I regularly go to Starbucks and Costa to buy a latte macchiato which is kind of a daily routine for me. For me it’s still unbelievable that I can get the same quality of latte out of this machine just by pushing a single button, like what I get from a professional barista from a coffee shop who probably had to learn the skill. Ok I have to say the product is expensive and this will turn people away of buying I, but if you buy a decent coffee a few times a week this pays for itself in like 6-8 months. I have to mention a few thinks about the packaging. For me it’s really important when a premium item is well packed and a company spends money not just on the product but also for the quality of the packaging. The coffee machine was located between two polystyrene foam which is not unusual, but they also put some sticky film on the front panel to protect from scratches. Comes with lots of documentation, user manual and a step by step cleaning instruction. I’m not really sure what for but they also included a water tester stripe. The front of the coffee machine opens like a cupboard door, that’s where the brewing part is located and also the use coffee ground tray. It feels like this will not be a problem as it has 3 massive hinges. On the back of the unit is a removable water tank with 2 Litre capacity, the coffee bean goes in a tank on the top of the unit (this is not removable) with a sea-trough lid. Unfortunately, I found the coffee container too small but this is only my opinion. Before the first use the coffee went through a cleaning program to clean the pipes. When this cleaning process finished a LED light will appear above each coffee selection button which indicates that the machine is ready for use. It’s is really simple to use, all the buttons are pretty straight forward for what they are for, not over complicated. It as a `Power button in the middle, a button to select the strength of the coffee on the left and on the right side of the panel there is button for the cleaning process. Featured with 4 present coffee buttons (Espresso, coffee crema, cappuccino, latte macchiato) and a milk button. Each button is touch sensitive so it doesn’t need to push just to touch it. It makes really good coffee, my favourite is the latte macchiato, but please be aware that it does not have a milk container, you have to put the milk in the glass prior and push the milk pipe down to frothing the milk before the machine adds the coffee. It has a dripping container; I would also recommend to empty this at least once a day. I found it easy to clean as al part such like the water container, dripping container and used coffee container are dishwasher safe. Please also be aware that each time you turn the machine off, a decent amount of water comes out from it, I’m not sure if this some kind of cleaning process again or it just pushing out the water from the system. I’m really happy with this product, if you can afford to buy one I would highly recommend.

Golden Review Award: 26 From Our UsersDream machine for coffee lovers
I’ve used a cafetiere, I’ve used an espresso machine, I’ve used a pod machine – and instant, of course. Nothing comes close to this machine! So long as you put decent quality beans in the top, it delivers a fantastic coffee down below.

It holds a standard 227g bag of beans, with a lid to keep them fresh. You can select the grind level in the bean store too – coarse, medium or fine ground.

The water flask holds enough water for a day. Despite being tucked in tidily at the back, it’s easy to remove and replace full.

The coffee options are clear and explained well in the manual. There are 3 strength levels for each option too, and you can also customise the length if preferred. When you set the machine up, it comes with a water hardness test strip, and you then feed the result into the brain of the machine through the touch control panel – it adjusts how it makes your coffee accordingly. I have very soft water.

The coffee spouts slide up and down to minimise risk of splashing outside of your cup.

The milk frother is excellent. It slides into cold milk in your cup and steams and froths at the same time. You can use it just to make frothed milk – which my kids love – or for cappuccino or latte macchiato.

The manual advises a daily cleaning routine that is very easy to do. Weekly cleaning includes taking out the main coffee pump and again this is very easy to do.

The machine has suction feet that hold it securely on the worktop. Although noisy when grinding beans, as you’d expect, it’s not as noisy as some other machines.

It’s genuinely very difficult to find fault with this machine. Piano black plastic does attract dust and shows up makes, but as you have to clean the machine daily it’s not hard to give it a wipe down at the same time.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersProper coffee at home
This coffee machine is the closest thing I have seen that allows you to have a proper coffee at home. It is literally like a smaller version of the large scale coffee machines found in coffee shops. It is very smart looking, quite a big heavy unit but not oversized for a standard kitchen and well worth the worktop space.
It was easy to set up, it has a refillable water tank and a tank that holds up to 250g of coffee beans. There is a ceramic grinder (rather than metal- apparently ceramic is better!) and even a milk frother. The great thing is that there is no milk tank so less cleaning and faffing, if you require a coffee that uses milk (cappuccino etc) or want to froth milk you add this to the cup first and select on the machine, then it warms and froths. It is very easy to select which coffee you want on the machine and you can select three different cup sizes.
It is easy to keep clean. It has a calc n clean function and because there is no milk inside the machine it doesn’t get grim like others do.
The coffee that it produces is wonderful and it feels like a real treat. I don’t have many vices but coffee is one of them. I was lucky enough to receive this coffee machine to review but I would definitely spend on this, even though it has a high price tag.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersExcellent Quality Coffee - Easy to clean unit and maintain - Clever milk froth/warmer wand
I was really excited to get this bean to cup automatic machine as I really do prefer the taste of fresh ground coffee but traditionally it has always been a huge hassle to get a quick cup. I have tried a number of other instant fresh coffee experiences like Tassimo and Nespresso but never really found them to be quite as good and after a while the novelty seems to wear off. This Siemens unit is far closer to the rest I prepared coffee with a fantastic aroma that makes it easy to have straight coffee is or latte and macchiato’s.

Think I really liked about this was the fact that it doesn’t use a milk tank which means a lot of messing around an additional cleaning after every cup instead you put your cup with the milk already in it under the froth wand which ejects steam thus warming and frothing the milk at the same time! Pretty similar to the way very expensive gaggia coffee machines do it.

The main bean grinder is easy to remove and clean out as it simply clips as one assembly from the machine it’s just a shame that the unit still uses a water reservoir rather than offering the option to be permanently plumbed in for water, this is a tiny gripe.

The touch button functions on the top make it easy for anybody to use and it looks stunning in the kitchen.

All-round a really well priced item that offers unparalleled performance.
