Robust, neat and easy to clean. Lots of money for a bin but it’s in the kitchen and it looks good.
    You won’t be disappointed.

Spend 15000 on new kitchen and all friends said when viewing the picture was how much they loved the bin. Lol

    Quality product. Well impressed

I love that it comes with sample trash bags that were specifically designed for its bins. It also has a secret compartment to hold the spare trash bags in the back of the bin. This makes it handy to grab and cover. I love how it’s recycle bin has a handle on the bucket makes it convenient to carry. I like that it’s slow and quiet when releasing the foot lever.

If I had to say one con it’s that it’s stainless steel. Can be hard to clean with watermarks. But I personally love the look of this trash bin.

This is an excellent, well designed, good-looking bin. Bought this in JL where it was 127. The trick with these bins is to compact as you go, I use a giant sink plunger I keep handy, a light push down every couple of days and you’ll be amazed how much you can put in as there isn’t a liner. Since the inside is smooth stainless steel with nothing to catch on the super sturdy bags come out easily so to fit a week’s worth of rubbish is no problem for a family of 3. We will be using the simplyhuman bin bags as they are top quality and are worth the 30p each with this capacity as you don’t need to put them in black bid liners when full. The discreet bin bag supply container hidden in the back is a nice touch. Highly recommended!

I’m sick of poor quality stuff breaking or not working right, peddle bins where the peddle breaks, push tops that won’t open or won’t close, trying to decipher the sizes on bin bags and buying the wrong ones so they don’t fit. Then my bin pushed me over the edge, snapped shut and trapped my finger for the last time.

I wanted to buy a bin that worked and that I would never have to replace so I spent too much money but that doesn’t matter because it’s perfect.
Sturdy, well thought out, easy to use, and fit & finish is better than my new car.

If you are thinking of spending 200 on a bin – DO IT! It will enrich your life far more than 200 of shoes or gin or Italian food.

I love Simplehuman, their products last for years and never look dated. The reason I have only given it 4 stars is the lack of any way to easily move/carry it. There is a pocket for liners at the back which you can use as one “handle” but it needs another as this is a sizeable and heavy bin. Saying that it is really well made and yes I can recommend it, I even bought my daughter one.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersIt’s a bin …. which took me 8 months to talk myself into buying …even after I’d ordered it I worried that I had wasted my money. Thankfully when it arrived and I started using it I felt better about the choice. Yes it’s a LOT of money to spend on a bin. But it does what I wanted -handles significant amount of recycling and also takes a decent amount of ordinary rubbish. So it frees up my kitchen side from constant cluttering of plastics/glass/cans and atips the husband from moaning about the daily recycling runs with his arms full in and out of the house. I happily take the recycling bin out now – easy peasy and love that I only need to do this twice a week not every 3 hours 🙂 the anti fingerprint cover on the stainless steel bin is amazing it really is. I have a few simple human products and love every one of them! So this has nothing disappointed me. Just hoping it lasts as long as the price tag justifies -but optimistic that it will. Love the bin and wish I had bought it sooner – hope it helps x

Expensive - but solid, pretty and perfect for my needs

Golden Review Award: 21 From Our UsersThis is a lux trashcan. I hear many “OOOO” and “WOW FANCY” comments when people encounter this thing. Here’s what I think…

    —————————-
    PROS
    —————————-

( + ) DESIGN 2-in-1 – Trash can and recycling in one bin, in one location, has saved a lot of room in our already small kitchen so I love this feature the most. The bin just looks great and gets a lot of compliments, praise, and attention from our guests.

( + ) EASY STEP DESIGN – you step on this giant bar and both the trash and recycling areas become available to you. Like many other bins on the market, the lid opens quickly and then closes gently and quietly.

( + ) DUAL CLOSURE, EASY WASTE REMOVAL – The best way to describe this is to not, you would be better to watch the product video but I will try for you. You have a lid, and under the main lid is a “collar” that 1) helps conceal the brim of your trash bag and 2) just makes the overall presentation of the inside of the bin look really neat and orderly. When it’s time to change your bag or empty the recyclables, you open the collar and lid at the same time by lifting up the collar portion all the way until it locks in place so you don’t have to fight the lids or keep your foot on the bin to get your waste out – it just magically stays open. When it’s time to close, you just close them both and they close gently and perfectly back in place.

( + ) FINGER/SMUDGE PROOF – This is probably 98% finger and smudge-proof. There are no kids in our house and the dogs stay away from the bin and since you really don’t have to interact with this bin using your hands other than removing waste, it is not likely going to get any prints on it.

    —————————-
    CONS
    —————————-

    ( – ) HIGH PRICE

( – ) SQUARE TRASH AREA – Your regular trash bags will fit much looser than the sample pack of square ones they give you to try. Although the square ones were very satisfying to put in, they were not as durable as the glad flex bags I use. You can use a regular trash bag in here, but you will have to twist and tuck it away in order for it to stay

( – ) STEP ONLY – unlike other trash cans, you cannot open this with your hands if you wanted to, the lid is literally flush with the top of the can (part of its sleek design) – not a deal-breaker, but maybe it is for some

    —————————-
    MIXED FEELINGS
    —————————-
    * I want to note that this is not a deal-breaker, I just want to be honest and honestly, I have no issue with the feature I am about to describe. It’s actually the reason I got this bin in the first place.

( ? ) REMOVABLE RECYCLING BIN – I’ve read that some people don’t like this part of the bin for their own weird reasons. Let me explain.

There is a blue bin that you can pull out of the recycling side by a handle so you can put your recyclables in, pull it out when it’s full, and dump the bin in your recycling bin. No need for an extra bag here unless you live somewhere that bagged recyclables are a thing.

Some people say it “doesn’t quite fit” or it is “difficult to get out” and to that I say…are you serious? It is not difficult to get out, rather, the transition from in to out requires your hands and attention. You might have to push back on the collar/lid A TINY BIT and pull the recycling bin out without the handle or at an angle. Not the end of the world.

[Tip: If you end up buying this, the recycling container goes in and out a particular way, look at the shape of the actual bin and the blue pail before you get upset and blame the bin, it’s user error.]

The saying you get what you pay for has never been more true. Quality is fantastic, its so sturdy and lid opens/closes like a dream. Easy to use and clean, looks lovely. Even the bags are extra strong and fit perfectly/snugly fit under lid so you cant see them. On the very first day the sting of spending so much on a bin went away. Will last for years, making it well worth the money.

It feels like I cant fill it.. The bins liners are very strong and dont tear easily. It’s very stylish and looks very attractive in the kitchen. It doesnt look like a bin, it looks like a piece of furniture. I often wondered why anyone would spend so much money on a bin and now I do. Well worth very penny

I ordered the Rose Gold 55 litre bin and it is amazing ! It doesn’t hold fimgerprints or footmarks on the peddle
so you’re not constantly wiping off fingermarks. It’s large enough for a good sized family and the bin liners
fit really well and are strong. The lid shuts quietly and gently. All round the best bin I’ve ever bought.

Great bin.It seemed a bit expensive for a bin and we tried other but in the end I went back to the one I had liked in the first place. It is worth the bit extra as it’s a fantastic bin.It opens and closes smoothly. The bags are just the perfect size and nice and strong.I’m very pleased with my bin.We named it Rosie after a song by AC/DC because Rosie was a whole lotta woman and our bin Rosie is a whole lotta bin.

It’s a bin. A pricey one. I got it cuz it was copper and I can store the bags in the bin (storage issues) but it’s bigger than I pictured it from the measurements so it’s more like a buddy in the kitchen ‘scuse me pal, comin’ past’ (storage issues). However, I was away on lockdown and forgot I’d left some food in the bin. Didn’t realise til I opened the thing to throw something else away and nearly threw up in it…So very good at containing stinky food items. Don’t do like me tho and nearly break it after putting the recycling box back in the wrong way round and trying to close the lid on it. It’s very sturdy tho so I did no damage despite being a heavy handed oaf

  20. Thomas Garvey says:

     United Kingdom

Forget the price tag – just buy the bin. You won’t have to buy another one. It really is simply the best – better than all the rest. Ours is in stainless steel so I can only comment on this finish – but it looks clean, tidy and presentable at all times. Everyone asks about the bin and then get all dramatic about the cost, but then say they are going to save up and get one.

I have just tried to fit the new liners I bought at time of buying the bin. Order shows I bought and paid for 55lt bin. I bought the liners to fit 55lt bin. It turns out that I did NOT get the 55lt, a 50lt bin was delivered. I didn’t notice until the liners that came with bin ran out. The 55lt liners are too big and don’t fit neatly. I’m happy with my bin but would like cost difference refunded and a pack of the correct liners sent to me as soon as possible. Thank you

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersStylish bin that seems very robust. Only real niggle is after 1 year it squeaks when it closes an i can’t find where to put some WD40! It is super expensive for a bin, but I went for it on the hope it would last forever. Haven’t been disappointed so far and will update this review if it breaks. The recycling bin is easy enough to remove and has to be put back the right way round, but you get used to it. Came with some specific bin bags but supermarket ones do the job obviously!

I was debating whether or not to spend this sort of money on a bin, however I am very pleased that I did. The quality is outstanding and the ability to store the bin bags at the rear of the bin is of great benefit. The soft close lid works very well and you can have the bin up against the wall without the lid smashing into it. I do recommend the bin bags as they fit perfectly, the bin came with 10 of them as standard which I didn’t expect. Overall, I cannot fault the product.

I’ve been struggling through crappy bins for years. This one is certainly the premium offering, if you have the money it’s extremely sturdy, nice looking, and feels like a good investment. 34. Anonymous says:

This bin is elegant and so practical. It is sturdy and has a very nice opening action. Fingerprints are non existent and where there have been some spills or drips, it cleans up perfectly. We have to use sacks for our recycled items and have more of this than the household waste bin, so we have the plastic bin for household, using the bags by Simplehuman and place a cherry sack in the other compartment for recycled waste. Having read reviews of this product, I note that other people say the bags, while being a bit more expensive than supermarket liners, are well worth the money and to be able to place the replenishment in the bin itself, reduces the need to store in a drawer. I have purchased more of these liners and am so glad I did.

  35. MaricruLonsdale says:

The bin is described as black but it is not black. I have asked friends and family what colour they think it is and we all agree that it is more of a dark grey colour. This was disappointing as I specifically wanted a black bin to match the other appliances in my kitchen. I emailed Simplehuman to say that they should not be advertising this bin as a black bin because it is not black but they have not even bothered to respond.

It’s an expensive product but looks good and is efficient.

When I first saw this in a shop I thought how much, that’s a ridiculous price ‘for a bin’. So bought a cheaper sensor bin, that didn’t last long, so bought a better quality sensor bin and that didn’t last long either, so then bought a cheaper plastic one that I hated, so finally bit the bullet and bought this and now of course I kick myself that I didn’t get this first.

It looks good, and as per the name it’s simple but the quality is fantastic and everything about it is well designed

Full width foot pedal so it’s easy to open
    Soft close lid.
Inner lid holds the liner securely and hides the bag from outside.
Smooth on the inside which means when you remove a full bag it slides out very easily.
Bags stored in the back so changing is super fast.

    Highly recommended.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersThis is an expensive bin, but it is good quality and looks great (if a bin can look great ). The little storage at the back of the bin for the box of liners is quite innovative, but I guess this is also to encourage you to buy their own liners rather than other makes, that said I think if you buy in bulk they are reasonably priced and would say they are much stronger than anything I have bought from a super market. It certainly wouldn’t look out of place in the nicest of kitchens. We bought this as we have just refurbished our kitchen and didn’t have space to integrate a bin in the units and due to this we wanted something that looked good and not out of place. This ticks all the boxes. If you can afford this I would definitely recommend.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our Usershis is a dual compartment bin – with a bag one side for the landfill rubbish and a container the other side for recyclables – takes the effort out of sorting it all and keeps the kitchen looking tidy. There’s a handy storage pocket inside the bin for the liners and it even reminds you when you need to buy more! I thought it was a little expensive but to be honest the design and features make this sturdy bin a very good investment.

Can’t believe I found one of the exact measurements. The bags it came with fit perfectly and the bin holds a lot of rubbish so don’t need to empty every day. Soft close is an added bonus but I guess for the price it should be expected. Arrived promptly and was well packed.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersSomeone FINALLY made a WHITE, stainless, rectangular, 55-liter kitchen trash can without any motion sensors or other bells and whistles! I’ve been searching for a kitchen trash can that meets these specs for about four years, but nothing ever quite fit the bill. Circular and oval cans are not a good use of our space, silver and copper colored ones draw too much attention to themselves, I don’t want to deal with electronics on motion sensors breaking or malfunctioning, etc. And then finally, Simple Human makes this!

    Pros:
    1. The foot pedal is sturdy and can be compressed fully even if all you can get is a toe on the corner of it, which is great when you also have a baby on one hip and your other hand full of trash. You can literally do a walk-by-trashing with just a little side step.
    2. The lid that opens with foot pedal compression is an ultra light, flat cover (as opposed to the larger, heavier lid used for bag changes) which allows it to pop open more quickly and with less pressure, but then also has a cushioned close so there’s no noise afterwards.
    3. It comes in the 55-liter size which is much more reasonable for our family of five, resulting in fewer bag changes.
    4. The bottom of the can has enough grip that it can’t be accidentally slid across the floor or out of its intended spot by little passers-by.
    5. The back of the can holds and dispenses the appropriate bags towards the inside of the can for fast, easy, no-excuses bag replacement.
    6. The outer lid used for bag changes subtly and elegantly covers the rim of the garbage bag for a secure fit but a seamless look.
    7. Have I mentioned it’s rectangular? This reduces not only wasted space but also how much floor debris can work its way around the back of the can.

    Cons:
    1. The top lid that opens with foot pedal compression is a brushed stainless silver, even on the white stainless can. It was certainly not a deal breaker for this mom who has been looking for something even in this ballpark for years, but it’s worth noting.
    2. Additionally, the top lid is light and thin, which makes opening faster but also means it can be more easily dented, and those dents show. The lid on the first can we received had three minor but visible dents in it just from the packaging and shipping process. (I called Simple Human and they were willing to send an entire lid to me with no questions asked, except they didn’t yet have extra white lids because the product was so new. Amazon handled the return/exchange with absolutely no fuss, so I’m not even taking a star off for this. Customer service from both companies was excellent.)
    3. I mentioned the base is sturdy and doesn’t allow the can to slide across the floor? Well, I didn’t realize until I switched to this product how often I use my foot/leg to slide the trash can closer to my present prepping or cooking space when my hands are already full. So plan ahead—you’ll need to pick it up and place it where you’re going to want it before you’re holding the drippy melon rinds or meat packaging that warrants a very close receptacle.
    4. The Simple Human bags that fit in the dispenser are a little pricier than normal bags. It’s worth it to me, and Amazon offers a 5% discount for Subscribe and Save on them, but the bag dispensing feature won’t be a help for anyone not wanting to buy the bags that fit there.
    5. The top silver lid shows little fingerprints easily, however, it also wipes off easily; just buff with a damp paper towel. As there’s no functional reason to touch that top lid at all, fingerprint frequency is decreasing as my children figure this new contraption out.

None of these Cons take away from a 5-Star rating for my family. This has been a much needed addition to my kitchen and I’m extatic about it. (If you don’t understand why, you don’t have enough children yet. 😉

Golden Review Award: 14 From Our UsersI had this in my saved for later basket for 18 months or so. I was saying all this money for a bin?. I was using a plastic simple human bin for a year, . I have to say that this is a quality product ,well manufactured and classy to look at. I am glad i purchased this, the lid glides open and shut, the quality is there. Thought has gone into making this item ! . Well made !!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersIt’s a very good looking bin. Mechanism and build quality is good. It’s not finger print proof as my two daughters proved in the first ten minutes of un wrapping.

The 55 litre model is a decent size and the pedal is very sturdy

Bin is attractive but very large. I returned as although a nice looking item, i didn’t think the quality justified the cost.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI love this bin so much! Lots of room, looks sleek. Separates our rubbish and recycling nicely. Design means it doesn’t scratch the wall behind. It has a little built in caddy for spare bin bags ( I usually refuse to buy the simplehuman bags as they are so expensive but have decided that this bin deserves them!). I also prefer a pedal to touch or electric opening for hygiene reasons and practicality. I never thought I could fall in love with a bin – until this one came into my life!

It’s a great bin that looks good in the house. The bin liners are easy too. I bought it when it went down to 137.99 so I’d wait for a deal. Not much more to say!

This is an amzing bin as it is totally silent. if one push hard on the pedal, there may be a very slight noise at opening . it is absolutely silent when closing.
We live in the kitchen all day long with kids so it was important to minimize all external noise
Positive aspects (45ltr Bin) : wide pedal; Silent, silent and silent; compact against the wall;; stable; if needed to stay open for a while, i use the “second opening” (for changing bags). Quite pricey but there is nothing with this rectangular shap, 45lt ish and silent without a sensor.

Firstly I have never spent so much on a bin but I don’t regret it at all, it’s worth every penny. The bin is heavy and solid, it doesn’t move when in use. It is a great size, 30 litres, and I love the rectangular shape which catches all the rubbish on trays and chopping boards without any spilling out like it used to do on my round bin. The bags are stored in the back and open into the inside bin compartment so changing bags is so easy and fuss free. There is no inner removable bin but it doesn’t matter, the bags are strong and leak proof. The bin never smells. The bags never get stuck in the bin when full. You get a free sample of bags with the bin. The colour (rose gold) is amazing and the finish resists finger prints. It looks fantastic.
This was a great purchase. I would definitely recommend this bin and also the Simplehuman bags which fit perfectly. Order size F (even though they say 25 litres these are the size you need.)

Looks really smart, works well, would recommend. Not sure if we will use the superhuman bags though, think we have found some that do the job just as well but much cheaper although they will not fit in the dispenser at the back but hey will that really matter?

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersAbsolutely love this bin! It looks fantastic, it’s brilliantly designed, exactly the right size and perfectly functional! OK, it’s a lot of money for a bin, but if you’ve spent thousands on a Kitchen, why would you have a cheap plastic bin? This black stainless steel bin looks superb in my kitchen! Really happy with it!

    OK it's a bin, but it's a beautiful bin!!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersHow can you love a bin? Well, I do. Being houseproud, having a bin that actually looks nice + works well functionally is so important.
The bins, although not huge do fit a fair amount of rubbish.

Expensive, but well worth it, and looks pretty too (if that matters for you).

Built to a good standard, attractive look and design. The added bonus is the storage area for replacement bags. This is located on the outside of the bin to the rear. Would add a nice touch to a nice home.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersVery convenient; the foot-operated lid opening and soft closing are great. Custom-fit liners fit easily and well, but are a bit pricey for polythene bin-liners. However, I think the convenience is worth the small extra expenditure.

Golden Review Award: 11 From Our UsersSimple Human bins are about as good as it gets in terms of bins. Thankfully, no one is yet trying to sell connected bins yet with a tablet and WiFi built in…

They look stylish, the bags fit perfectly and without the ugly look of bin liners hanging out over the edges. The pedal open is great as it runs the full length of the front edge, so you never have that hit & miss with small pedals that other makers use.

The stainless steel looks lovely too and as we already have two other larger bins that we bought three years ago, I can confidently say that they stay looking good. This bin was bought for food recycling as we’ve moved to a new home where they collect food waste every week.

The only downside is that Simple Human don’t make food recycling bags, so I’ve bought 30 litre bags from here on Amazon separately. I’ve put in the SH bag first and then the recyclable bag as they can leak if left for more than a few days. This is the only thing that I can criticise SH for, it’s anout time they offered these.
