Get a stainless one and not a plastic one
A stainless dehydrator like this one we bought is much better and easier to clean than the plastic ones.
No issues whatsoever with this. Use it to dry out fruits and meats and all sorts. It does take it’s time but thats expected. Bought as a gift and has saved lots on supermarket bought dried fruits.
Brilliant food hydrater, though large for a small kitche
Love this hydrater, having bought a cheap one first to see if I was going to stay the course and make the purchase worth while. I did and looked around for what would suit me best at a reasonable price. This is it! All stainless steel, easy to clean on the inside, I don’t find it easy to clean on the outside. It’s situated next to my hob and occasionally gets splattered with fat, and I don’t find it easy to remove and leave it looking as new again. But perhaps I’m doing something wrong. Anyway, it doesn’t detract from the excellent job this model does in the actual dehydrating. Could only wish for an alarm that could be turned off if wanted as it is loud and long!. It has 6 very good size shelves and I would recommend that you use silicone liners on the shelves when doing anything as it means nothing gets stuck to them, as it does if you use banana slices, for instance, and it stops strawberries and tomatoes from falling through the gaps. I love this machine and use it constantly.
Highly recommended!
I have had this dehydrator for a year now and have used it at least weekly, on all temperatures, for a wide range of time settings. I have dehydrated everything from beef jerky, veg, fruit and herbs and not had a single issue.
Seriously considering another one! Absolutely love it and can’t recommend highly enough.
My first dehydrator and I'm really please
I have been looking at getting a dehydrator for a bit but have only gotten serious about it in the last month. I decided on this one mostly due to looks and the price. It looks heavy but its not overly so, taking it out of the package I was very happy to see they included a more fine plastic mesh tray and a fruit leather tray (which I have used as a tray in the bottom to make clean up easier on quite wet food) and of course has 6 trays.
I do seriously suggest getting The Ultimate Dehydrator CookBook by Tammy Gangloff. I also suggest watching youtube videos on dehydrating.
Dehydrating is not a quick process and times are only a guildline for exsample banana’s 10-12 hrs but depending on the humidity and how you decided to cut it it could be days also don’t expect it to be just like what you get at the store as those go though a different process.
Another exsample mushrooms can take 10-15 hrs and again it also depends on the humidity and how thick or thin etc you cut them. It’s also suggested to blance some veg/fruit.
I have dehydrated fresh apple rings, sliced tomatoes, peppers, peas, corn and carrots. You can also use frozen fruit/veg to dehydrate but again dehydrating time maybe different for you so please keep that in mind.
With all that said I’m very happy with this dehydrator it dries my stuff very evenly thus far, but I do still rotate the trays. This also vents hot air which helps get rid of moisture cuz if you still have moisture in your food it is not going to store well and will go moldy.
I also suggest you buy some glass jars as you will need to store your recently dehydrated food in them for a week to 10 days it’s to watch for condensation, if you have condensation put the lot back in the dehydrator for a few hrs at the recommended temp which is normally 125f or 50c-55c. After the week to 10 days if there is no condensation you can transfer it to a plastic bag.
It’s working well
Have had this machine for a couple of weeks now and it’s working well. Have dehydrated from the garden, spring onions, sage and tomatoes, happy with the result. Looking forward to using it more.
Bit pricier than some but it is a solid piece of kit.
Best buy ever. Love it. Just wish I had more time and I’d have it on all the time. It makes the room smell wonderful when you are drying stuff. Bought some extra silicon meshes to dry smaller items, which I’d recommend doing.
Great produc
Only used for jerky so far and ime very happy with i
Great dehydrator for a first time
This is a good dehydrator we have been experimenting with timings to find the best time and temp to make our son’s mango leathers and now have gone on to drying all sorts of fruit and herbs. We have found it easy to use and taken advice from other reviews by placing it on a surface saver while in use to protect the surfaces from the heat as it does get hot.
Absolutely brilliant.
I bought this to make dried food for camping trips as I was fed up lugging wet food around and carrying more than I needed. Have so far made up 12 meals of chilli and spag bol. Very easy to use. Dehydrated the food in around 12 hours at 65 degrees.
It is one of the more expensive models but given each tray dries a full camping meal I will earn that money back within a few cooking sessions.
11/10
Excellent machine
Just wow. Used to have a plastic one and they are like night and day. What would take 20 odd hours to dry in the old plastic one takes 4 hours in this one. Fits on my kitchen side no worries. Low hum but nothing awful. Excellent value for money when compared to my old plastic one.
Fabulous dehydrator!
I bought this oven to dehydrate healthier treats for my dogs, I’m so pleased with it and the dogs are delighted So far I’ve only deydrated chicken for them but will try to be more adventurous
I have been using a cheap plastic unit to make jerky for years. Fortunately, I dropped it last week and decided to get an upgrade. WHAT AN UPGRADE!
QUALITY: The great build quality is instantly noticeable. Everything down to the satisfying clunk of the magnet catches on the door is top notch. Aluminium case, glass door, plastic is kept to a minimum. Very quiet operation. Nice and loud beep when you want it.
EFFECTIVENESS: I mostly make beef jerky. I didn’t change any setting I just turned it on. In just under two hours, I had 5 trays of evenly cured meat ready to go. They came straight off the trays with no effort and left little trace.
For comparison, my old plastic dehydrator would take 4-5 hours to make the same jerky. I would have to check it every hour to turn over the meat and remove the bits that were ready because it didn’t cure them evenly.
CLEANING: I used the fruit puree tray as a drip tray. I also left a gap around the edge of each tray. After use I found one tiny splash on the inside of the unit, the rest was caught by the drip tray. The curing trays went straight into the dishwasher and there were no traces of residue to warrant further cleaning.
Over time I think there is the possibility of splash build up on the back fan behind the mesh, but that would take a lot of heavy use to become a hygiene issue.
CAPACITY: Three large beef steaks cut into 4mm thick strips only filled 5/6 trays. At first look the trays seemed small but because there is no central void for air flow the usable space is actually better than my old plastic one.
If the unit breaks down in the first year I will report back but so far, so so good!
So professional and brilliant results!
I bought this to make my own home made treats for my dog and it is just fabulous!!! This was the first time experimenting and I gave to say the end result got a 5 PawStar!!
I’ll be using it for herbs and fruits as well!
Excellent item to dry food!
Great product! Very useful to preserve naturally organic without chemicals!
I had this a while before I wrote this review as I wanted to see how good and useful it really was in a working kitchen. It’s so good, dehydrates so well and is very quiet. We also use it to make yogurt and to prove bread. We used to air dry herbs or use the oven on a low heat. It’s a great way to extend the life and store your food. I would definitely recommend this. It is my first dehydrator so I don’t have a comparison but this is well worth the price and does do what I need and more.
Good dehydrato
Does what it says easy to clean and use would recommend
The Rolls Royce of food dehydraters
his looks classy, works well is fairly quiet, six mesh trays and a plastic one for the base or fruit rolls, a solid glass door and double boxed in transit, far superior to the nasty cheap plastic ones which just warp and snap.Very happy with this purchase and would highly reccomend if you intend to get a dehydrater for heavy use.
Excelle
Love the dehydrator, or should I say the dogs do, made doggie beef jerky for the rescue’s and oh how the loved it. Easy to use, easy to clean, buy one.
The Sous VideTools 6 Tray Stainless Steel Hendi Food Dehydrator has exceeded my expectations. It was purchased to make Biltong, dehydrate the occasional mushroom, and from time to time, raspberries. So far, the machine hasn’t let me down and has delivered more than acceptable results.
Alexa told me this before making my purchase – The SousVideTools 6 Tray Food Dehydrator offers a simple way to make healthy, nutrient-dense foods for your operation. High heat cooking can remove the nutrients from the food, but the dehydrator’s lower heat level works to preserve the nutrients and enzymes in the food.
We used an old plastic circular dehydrator from a friend until we purchased it. These are the typical ones you see whenever you search for a dehydrator. We didn’t want one of these because of the plastic involved and the fact that the trays can sometimes deteriorate. So, we went for this beast and have been using it a fair bit over the last couple of months.
Firstly, it looks great. Secondly, it dehydrates stuff really, really quickly. We can do a whole mango in a couple of hours rather than the typical overnight 12-hour timescale we were used to with the cheap dehydrators you can get. Finally, when it’s on, it heats our kitchen really nicely in the winter which is a bonus!
The trays are solid and easily go in the dishwasher if you want to give them a really good clean. Excellent purchase so far.
Gutes Produk
Bin sehr zufrieden.
Great product- a must have if you are dehydrating foods. Timer and range of heat settings excellent.

This unit is Huge! I love this thing!
Stainless steel construction – none of you dodgy oriental plastics, just a large chamber made of metal.
Long run times. Low and high temperatures in 5C steps.
Easy to clean.
Only downside is that multi-temperature drying is a manual affair.
You set a start temp, then have to come back and change it later if needed.
Bought to dry the some of the food we started growing after converting our garden into an allotment – at the start of the 2020 apocalypse.
Have used for ginger, onions, apples, bell peppers, and all manner of spices.
Has coped admirably with everything I have put in there.
Also comes with a drip-tray and one nylon(?) small-mesh sheet for smaller items.
The airflow is low enough that dried food is not blown around the inside of the dryer.
Don’t waste your money on a cheap (expensive!) pieces of plastic junk.
Additional comment (10Jul21):
Have had absolutely no issues with this unit whatsoever.
It is used several times a week for about 10-15 hours, depending on what is drying.
There is one thing to watch out for – if you have a ‘helpful’ partner/friend who is not familiar with the default operating settings –
We had to go out during a drying session a few days ago, and not wanting to leave it unattended, I switched it off when we left.
When we returned, hubby helpfully switched it back on for me without telling me.
I was curing some garlic for storage (15hrs @35C), but when the unit is switched on, it defaults to 10hrs at **70C!**
I caught it after only a couple of minutes, but just keep in mind the initial starting temperature of 70C when you turn it on.
It would have been MUCH BETTER to default to 35C to save ruining anything that is heat sensitive.
Also, it would have been nice to have the heat range go from no heat, to 70C in 5C steps instead of having a minimum temperature of 35C.
Extra Use-Case:
I have since bought a second one of these and use it in my workshop as a speed-dryer for painted and 2-part resin-coated 3D-printed customer objects.
I fitted a dust filter to the air intake and extraction covers to the exhaust vents.
Works extremely well at this task.
Where to begin …..
When the dehydrator arrived it was in a brown heavy duty cardboard box which held the product box . This was seriously well packaged so a big thumbs up to Sous vide.
Upon opening the boxes and unpacking the dehydrator we have to say yet again we were pleased with how well it was packed.
We have had it running for 10 hours today and we are very pleased with the results. The dehydrator itself is very quiet and extremely efficient.
We dehydrated Beef Jerky , Apples , Oranges , Pineapple and Banana all of which are absolutely delicious and the dehydrator performance couldn’t be faulted.
The shelves slide in effortlessly and cleaning was a breeze.
I again couldn’t stress how quiet it was during it’s operation as some are seriously noisy.
This is the first one of this make and model we have but are already planning on getting another.
So if you are looking for a dehydrator for your home look no further.
Trocknet was zu trocknen is
I used this to dry my homegrown hops. It worked perfectly.
Being able to select a custom temperature and time was perfect. The heat throughout was consistent and the fan was strong enough to push the heat around but not blow any hops around.
Perfect product 🙂
I’ve used cheap plastic dehydrators before, and this one really knocks them out of the park!
The stup with shelves is just like a standard oven, and taking them in and out for cleaning is a breeze. The unit is quite lightweight, and quite quiet for it’s size.
The back of the unit does get quite warm (probably around 50C?) but the wall a few cm away doesn’t heat up at all. Worth noting that it’s deeper than it is wide, since it’s not immediately apparent (not that it affected where I have it).
It would be good if it came with more than 1 mesh tray, but extra silicon trays are very cheap to buy as well.
Suppe
Preis Leistung ist Supper
Wrde das Gert nie mehr hergeben .
Wir haben schon viel da drin getrockne
Amazing produc
Amazing product, great quality, nice, quiet and easy to use
Had a glut of fruit this year, I’m diabetic so jam is out of the question. Watched a few YouTube videos and decided on dehydration. This machine is excellent. It is well made, easy to clean and at 60 degrees hardly registers on the smart meter. In combination with a vacuum sealer this device is amazing. I am thinking of getting a larger one.
Right, early days yet, but this thing is cracking. Bought for making biltong as the missus is south African, and within 12 hours I have proper authentic drywoers. A small hum from the fan, no worse than an oven fan and it is easy as you like to use. 1.5kg of steak fits on two of six shelves, so a max capacity of 4.5 kg of meat! As long as it keeps working I would say this is a spot on purchase and for the money a bargain. Will make its cost back in a couple of months. Will update as time goes on……
I will be using the dehydrator for drying fruit, veg and herbs so I will be running it at 50 C. I have mounted it on ceramic tiles to protect my counter top because a distance of 20 cms is recommended for ventilation between the unit and walls or objects . The feet of the unit measure 2 cms H. The unit gets quite hot when running it at 75 C but all surfaces surrounding it (except my counter top) were cool when I ran it for 30 mins even though I only have 14cms ventilation space. I ran it at 50 C for 7 hours and all is well and cool. So I am ready to start and happy with my dehydrator. It is easy to operate , seems robust and runs quietly. The manufacturer is BUFFALO. Delivery was prompt (2 days), the unit was well packaged and came with an instruction manual in many languages. On contacting the seller, he sent me an email saying it has a 2 year warranty. Buffalo makes a mini and a bigger dehydrator, this one is the mini 6 rack one. The dimensions are 34 cms W x 45 cms D x 31 cms H. The watts are 550 -650. The racks measure 30 x 33 cms and the unit comes with a drip tray. I bought silicone mats separately.
Fantastic piece of kit!
Love this machine! It’s so easy to use, it’s a great size, a little bigger than a normal size microwave and it sits great on my worktop. Bought to use to dry royal icing on cookies, but I’ve also used it to dehydrate lemons, oranges and limes so far. Would give more stars if I could!
Funktion:
Was soll man sagen – der Drrautomat funktioniert.
I am satisfied with the product quality. Silent and quick drying result.

Rundherum zufriede
Tolles Gert, mit allem bestens zufrieden. Hoffentlich hlt es lange!
Ausreichend Platz
