    Buen producto

I installed two of these racks in a trailer. The rack is very easy to load the bike onto, and once the bike is mounted, it is very convenient to be able to pivot the bike right or left (superb design). This rack would work perfectly as designed if installed in a garage or house. But to use in a trailer that is being pulled down the road, around curves and over bumps, we added a few modifications. First we added easy-to-find velcro straps to prevent the front tire from coming out of the rack when we hit bumps. Second, we added a small chain and spring clip to secure the back tire in the lower mount. Finally, we added a chain and spring clip system to limit the swing of the rack and keep the bikes against the wall of the trailer when driving down the road. Everything unclips in seconds and the bikes are easily dismounted. This system is very convenient, since you can swing the bike in the rack to one side or the other to allow for storing other items in the trailer and for easy access to load and unload the bikes. The rack itself mounts easily to the wall and is very high quality. We expect many years of use from this product. We have had 4 very expensive bicycle racks for receiver hitches (obviously a different application), but this is the easiest rack we have owned to load and unload. Loading the bikes on this rack is more about technique than strength, which makes it perfect for those of us in our late 60s to load as well.

After many hours of research, I chose to install 4 of these racks despite the hefty price tag. I needed something that would be easy for us to hoist our bikes onto (2 daughters). Other racks require dead lifting the bike straight up and based on the tight amount of wall space I had, they would get caught on the others when trying to remove them. The swivel feature is what sold me..
I staggered the installation heights on the wall with the outer bikes being the ones that rested on the floor for my youngest and I (mom). I actually hung them only 11 inches apart but I was drilling into a cement wall so I didn’t have to worry about studs. The heights listed are measured from the floor to the very top installation hole with bike frame size in parentheses. These heights allowed room for the handlebars to clear each other. My oldest barely rides her bike so hers and my husband’s are off the floor but they barely need to be lifted because once the wheel rests on the wire rack it rolls right onto the holder. Super simple.
64″ (17″ frame) rest on floor
    74″ (15″ frame)
    79″ (21″ frame)
65 (18″ frame) rest on floor

Loosen the bolts a quarter turn on both ends before you install so that the rack can swivel. Not too much or else it swivels too much when trying to hang the bike. I was drilling into a cement wall so I used Tapcon screws with a washer. I initially installed the rear tire plate for the first bike but found that it hindered the swivel function so I removed it. It’s a garage and I really don’t care if the wall gets scuffed a bit. Even without it, the bikes rest fine and are perpendicular to the wall.

Final result: they are everything I had hoped for. I am so pleased!

This is a top top top quality product, very solid, simple enough to fit. I bought 4 of this classic version. Turns out the fendered bike fits on this style of bracket too. Its super easy to mount the bike, no lifting required all the family can manage it. No more moving bikes around to get the back one out. they all fold almost flush to the wall. worked out really well.

I bought a Fat rack and a Classic rack through Amazon Warehouse. One of the racks shipped without the mounting hardware but I had similar bolts on hand and used those. I contacted the manufacturer via their website and they said they would ship out the hardware to me asap.
These racks are fantastic. Loading the bikes into the racks is so easy, and it keeps the bikes out of the way. The Classic rack states it fits bikes with tires up to 2.4 width – that’s just not possible. I have a mountain bike with 2.4 tires and I had to force it to fit even without the tires being properly inflated. The manufacturer should adjust this guidance. I had anticipated the mountain bike might not fit and ordered anyway since I have a road bike that fits the Classic rack easily.
I mounted the racks into studs and found the process fairly easy although I did watch a few YouTube videos first. I will definitely be buying a MTB version for my other bike, these racks are so handy.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our Usersich habe mir 8 solcher Steadyracks in der Garage montiert.

By following the guide that comes with them, these are really easy to install, and once installed the bike goes in and out very easily. Much, much easier to use than the hook type, as they require no lifting of the whole weight of the bike. You just need to spin the front wheel up with all weight on the rear wheel and then the bike easily glides in and out so they are ideal for those of a slighter or weaker build.

The good news – this is a seriously solid rack, well-engineered and built to last. In fact, I’d say it is over-engineered and probably far more rugged and durable than it needs to be. It would be ideal for both commercial situations and home situations like mine.

The semi-bad news – this rack can be bear to install into a block (masonry) wall. You need to drill 3/8-inch anchor holes in the block, which is not easy for most folks. A 3/8″ bit is the top capacity of most home drills. I had to buy a new masonry bit and even though I generally know my way around tools, it was a struggled to drill clean holes that were level, etc. — not impossible mind you, just a struggle. This rack would probably do fine with 1/4 tapcon screws holding it onto a wall, but that’s part of the over-engineering I mentioned above. Once you get these bolts in, the rack isn’t going anywhere.

Also, the primary bolts holding this onto the wall are carriage bolts, which require a socket wrench to really get tight. I had the wrench, but again, it’s not common to every household.

Those issues aside, I LOVE THIS BIKE RACK. I have two bikes on a wall in a newly renovated workshop (see the picture). I had to install them on a space between a sink and a shelf. Because of these racks, I can swing the bikes in either direction, depending on which thing I need to access. Because their footprints on the wall are so small, I will be able to mount other items on the walls around them – shovels, ladders, etc. Even my wife was impressed.

One thing that took a long time to figure out – how to stagger the height of the two racks so that my bikes (which are almost the same size) wouldn’t bump into each other. You MUST visit the company’s website to download their suggestions for install, but even those are a bit useless to me as they are in metric and they offer two very different options for spacing. I ended up placing the racks about 16 inches apart and mounted the second one about 6 inches higher. That provided plenty of clearance between handle bars and pedals.

Btw – it is not a very big deal to load the bike into the higher rack. It takes a bit more effort as you need to push the front wheel up onto the rack, but my wife was able to handle it easily.

Overall, I’m thrilled with these racks and I think anyone who can handle the issues of proper tools and the installation will love them too.

A terrific rack that's just a bit tough to install

We wanted to get the second car into our garage but our bikes were preventing us from doing so. We purchased the Steadyrack Classic and it did exactly what it said it would do. The bike can sit perpendicular to the wall or you can tilt it to either side to create more room in the garage. IMPORTANT to note…watch the video (URL is provided with the instruction sheet) on how to install and it makes the job easy and also shows how one person can hang the bike when it is done properly. We installed the rack and bottom tire rest into a stud. I don’t think I would trust using the drywall inserts. There is a lot of stress, weight and movement (side to side) not to mention the number of times the bike could be going in to and out of the rack. It is well made and sturdy and has no problem doing the job its meant to do. Really pleased we bought it and happy to be able to pull another car into the garage.

I bought 3 of these bike racks for my garage. They work extremely well. They are very easy to install and it’s very easy to put your bike on the rack and take it off the rack. I also love that you can tilt the bikes to the left and right. It took me a while of searching for bike racks to decide on a style but I really love this bike rack.

Golden Review Award: 58 From Our UsersSpent a lot of time researching and testing bike storage systems… couldn’t be happier with these. They cost a lot compared to rubber-coated hooks. But, unlike that cheap option, these are rock-solid, don’t scrape your rims and make loading and unloading your bike as easy as rolling it. Additionally, the ability to swing the bikes allowed me to mount them 16″ apart (perfect for attaching to studs), even mountain bikes with really wide handlebars.

The only gripe I have is with the installation instructions. The method for calculating the mounting height is *way* off, especially for bikes with large tires. I had to add 2.5 inches for my mountain bikes and 1.5 inches for my dual sports with road tires. For bikes with big tires, it is extremely important that the rear tire not be touching the ground, or your bike will roll off the rack.

    Pros
    – Super compact storage due to swinging mount
    – Unbelievably easy to roll on and off… no lifting at all
    – Rock-solid construction
    – Feels like it’s worth more than it cost (and it ain’t cheap!)
    – Looks like they belong in a pro bike shop or the lobby of a trendy Silicon Valley start up
    – All hardware included, even for concrete and masonry walls

    Cons
    – Installation instructions may only be for road bikes, so your mileage may vary
    – Seriously, that’s i

The most space-efficient and easiest way to store your bikes

The fitting it so very secure. My problem was that I was fixing previous Bike racks to soft internal breeze blocks. The light weight variety and normal plugs were pulling out. Golden Review Award: 17 From Our UsersWhile planning for a garage renovation that took our house from a 1-car garage to a 2-car garage, we wanted to ensure we would be able to store our family’s bikes in an efficient manner, but also make it easier for everybody to retrieve them when they wanted to take a ride. The renovation is almost at an end, and you can see the results… these racks are kind of magical in the way they accomplish both these goals at the same time.

I’m going to provide some key measurements that helped us with planning and installation. We have staggered the racks in order to space them as close together as possible, which is approximately 13-13/16″ apart. (Instructions are in mm rather than inches; hopefully this helps others using the English system of measurement.) We hung the first rack 16″ from the wall, so that when the rack is perpendicular to the wall for loading/unloading there’s enough room for handlebars as well as the rider’s hands. I wouldn’t put the racks closer to a corner than that, personally.

There are lots of different answers online to the question of how much space is “saved” by swiveling the bikes as close to the wall as possible… obviously everyone’s bike has different dimensions so this is a tough one to answer. In our case, the bikes are approximately 44″ high, measured from the ground to the top of the handlebars. When swiveled against the wall (as shown), they stick out about 30″ from the wall. Granted, if you were mounting them with a more conventional rack, you’d only have the width of the bike sticking out from the wall, and many bikes are 24″ wide (from handlebar to handlebar). On the other hand, if you were using a conventional rack you’d only be able to mount two bikes (one on top of the other) in the space I’ve used for four. Plus I can guarantee that the kids would not be able to quickly take a ride without Mom or Dad’s help getting the bike down. This is so much better!

One last measurement that greatly affected how we installed the racks: When you swivel the bike to the side, you’ll need at least an additional 3″ (added to the bike’s height) of room from left to right. This takes into account how the rack swivels from the very base of your front tire, which is not tight to the wall but protrudes slightly when the bike is mounted on the rack. In our case, the “new” garage space we claimed is set back from the “old” garage wall. I had hoped to squeeze the bikes precisely into this “new” space (in a different configuration, swiveling left rather than right), but those extra inches meant that the racks had to be hung as shown. They spill over a bit into the “old” space, but it works well especially when you consider that our youngest daughter’s bike will eventually be replaced with a larger one as she grows. This leaves room for that growth — always a good thing!

In the end, we’ve got 4 bikes in approximately 8′ of width, and even our youngest can load and unload her own bike. Consider us VERY happy customers. Oh! One last note on installation: As you can see, we’ve installed our racks into concrete block. Drilling for and installing anchors into masonry is never easy, but since the rack is made in Australia you should be prepared to either suffer through the arduous task of hand-tightening bolts with an adjustable wrench (as I did) or get some metric-sized bolt drivers.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersLove these racks! Wish I had gotten them years ago. The skinny, hook-type racks work fine for our light road bikes, but our heavy mountain bikes with the wide tires wouldn’t fit in them and were too big and awkward to lift up and try to make them fit. So we got these racks and love them. Our bikes’ wheels are 29 x 2.25 and they fit just fine in these racks with a little room to spare.
Really love how easy it is to lift up the front of your bike and just roll the front wheel into the rack. Bike stays in place perfectly. We didn’t even mount the rear wheel guide. And getting the bikes down from the racks are just as easy.
Mounting instructions were good. We mounted on a block wall in our garage, so we only used two of the screw holes in the top and bottom of each rack and they are very sturdy. We mounted one a few inches higher than the other to give our bikes’ wide handlebars a bit of room to overlap.
Highly recommend these racks for those that don’t want to lift heavy bikes and deal with trying to get the bike tires to fit inside little hooks.

Great for heavy bikes - no lifting required

I have tried several bicycle storage solutions but this product is by far the best that I have found for hanging a bike by the front wheel, against a wall. It is easier to mount the bike than the kind that use hooks to grab the wheel, it swivels nicely to give access to multiple bikes on a wall and folds out of the way when not in use. Just about a perfect product I’d say. Worth the money.

Golden Review Award: 53 From Our UsersGreat for saving space without compromising accessibility. No more ‘ceiling hoist’ racks requiring Dad to get the bikes down. Now everyone, including my kids, get their own bikes down AND put them away

    Pros:
    – Easy to use
    – Quick access saves time
    – saves space
    – Allows bikes to swing or pivot against the wall
    – Bikes can be mounted as close as 14″ apart and still pivot against the wall
    – Relatively simple installation and online videos available
    – Simple to put bike up and down
    Cons:
    – not the cheapest solution
    – Drywall anchors included are inadequate (try and use a wall stud)

I use the fender racks to hold two 26″ beach cruisers with large front fenders. The bikes are held vertically with the rear tire just off the ground. Just tip the bike up on its rear wheel and roll it onto the rack. Then swing the bike to the side until the handlebar is against the wall (tires remain against wall while bike rotates side to side).

    Installation considerations:
    – Installation instructions state bikes can mount as close as 14″. This works for similar bikes (two beach cruisers or two mountain bikes), but with different types the handle bars can interfere with each other. You need to move them farther apart or stagger one higher off the ground (impacts ease of storage/retrieval)
    – Drywall anchors included are totally inadequate. Do not use these to mount into Sheetrock without a stud. I used Snaptoggle anchors (Home Depot, etc.).

One reviewer marked this product down for the poor wall anchors. This isn’t unique to this product, included anchors are usually junk. Weight bearing items usually mount to a wall stud for support. I prefer not to pay extra for a product to include quality anchors, and if needed I purchase my own.

If your priorities are space and convenience I strongly suggest you look at this rack. The ceiling racks I used were hard for my wife and I to use, and way too difficult for my kids. The bikes just weren’t getting used. I hope this review is helpful in selecting a bike storage solution.

Once installed this product is excellent. The hardware is not great and none of the four racks I purchased came with instructions regarding the correct hole size for the plastic grommets used when not hitting a stud. Even when using a hole size small enough to have to hammer the plastic grommet in, the design is so poor the plastic will rotate instead of allowing you to tighten the bolt to a stop.
The other aspect that is less than perfect is the silly clips that hold the top and bottom caps on. They are fragile and made of a hard plastic that breaks instead of bending. If you read your warranty, you will note that damage caused during installation or shipping is not covered. In my case I had one broken clip in shipping and one during installation. The cap still mounted but a better design or product material is needed at this price.
With all that said, once mounted this rack is excellent. I have the racks spaced at 10 inches apart (254 MM) with every other rack about a 10″ higher than either side. (Measure your bars, divide by 2, add an inch or more for clearance) Even with the additional height I am easily able to roll the bike onto the rack. The pivoting feature is excellent. I do not know of another way of getting four bikes into a tighter spot without risk of damage to any of them.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersHave just bought 2 of these on the strength of seeing them installed at my brothers house. First one is already installed.
Came very well packaged, Instructions are very clear and well written and it comes with everything you need. Budget 30mins or so to get it mounted (depending on your ability at DIY) and spend time figuring out the sideways swing/spacing so it doesnt bump into anything/get in the way.. Measure twice drill once!!
Once mounted putting the bike in is simple and straightforward, can be done at most angles. Getting the bike back down again is similarly simple.

All in all a strong recommendation!

Golden Review Award: 13 From Our UsersThis is a great product.
Our family of five has a variety of bikes, three children’s & two adult – in different sizes. I looked at several systems and read reviews (noted that children had difficulty hooking bike tires, between spokes & balancing, etc), ultimately deciding to spend way more than I had planned on the Steadyrack. It was a slam-dunk. Steadyrack does not disappoint. This product is all that is cracked up to be and in my opinion, worth the money.

I bought a four-pack for my family, and an additional fender-style for my retro bike. The area where all bikes are hanging is 71″ wide. It holds three mountain bikes, my huge & heavy beach cruiser, and a child’s 20″ bike. I spaced them approximately 13″-15″ apart from one another.

There would be no way to catch a stud for all these bike racks, so I had the lumberyard cut a piece of plywood to size, and mounted a ledger-board to the wall. Then I had a solid surface attached to the studs. This allowed me to install the racks with more confidence that they would be secure.

I’m in the United States & believe that the origin of this product is Australia. This may explain why the installation instructions are in millimeters. It was easy enough to find a conversion online, but I did have to be cautious not to make a calculation error. Measure twice, drill once! The only other note, was that in my haste – and without giving it much thought – I used the wrong fastener to hang the first rack. The racks come with both lag bolts & truss-head wood screws, which I dumped out on the workbench, and by the time went to hang the first rack, my son handed me the screw and it stripped going in – quite easily. Oops! I should have known better – so I’m mentioning it for those who do not know better. The rack should be installed with the “hex” headed lag bolt. (Google it, if you’re unsure what that is). The guidelines were easy to follow & logical.

As for hanging the bikes, it’s as easy as it seems. My youngest is about 54″ tall & 50#. Getting the bike up into position was a challenge for a couple of days. We tried different ways to hold the hand brake & use the seat to leverage on her thigh – and soon enough she was able to do it easily.

I attached a photo showing all five bikes on the wall. They do rotate easily out of the way and don’t fumble into each other as bikes are placed on & off. I felt like I pushed the limit on how close you would want to hang bikes of this size – and there is still plenty of room to get them on & off without interfering with other bikes.

I have a lot of confidence in the longevity of this product. It’s rock solid.

    Worth every penny

Golden Review Award: 12 From Our UsersEl embalaje perfecto.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersA stylish and sturdy product and a cool way to store your bike. Once the bike is in place you can swing it easily from side to side giving yourself more space for storage. Quick to put up, very sturdy and feels well made. The rotational element makes it ideal for a small space, mine is in a cupboard where I can roll my bike on and then swing it inside to shut the door. That is why I chose it over the other bike racks on offer, and it works really well.

The rotation is a little stiff/resistant to begin with but seems to be getting easier and easier to move.

All in all I’d really recommend this.

Golden Review Award: 15 From Our UsersThis rack is fantastic.

We are a very active cycling family- 9 bikes between 4 people. My wife and daughters are not particularly tall, so hanging bikes on the wall has always been a bit of a challenge, We had traditional bike hooks in the wall, but family members had difficulty hoisting the bike up into the hook. Additionally, if you need to move the bikes to one side or the other, inevitably the bike wheel turns sideways to the hook and things get messy from there. The result? Hooks bending spokes, bikes tangled up, and unhappy cyclists.

When rennovating the garage, I bit the bullet and bought a bunch of these racks. WOW! What a difference!! We staggered the bikes (high/ low) to squeeze them close together. Bikes just roll onto the low racks from the floor- basically zero effort. To store a bike on the high rack still requires lifting, but it’s a lot easier to do- instead of having to capture the hook with the wheel, you just drop the wheel onto the rack. Much simpler!

Perhaps the best feature is the ability to swing bikes from one side to the other. Unless you have a dedicated garage for your bikes, you’re likely sharing space with cars and household “stuff”. Getting to the bike at the end of the row used to always cause problems for us. Now, we can just swing the other bikes out of the way and access whichever bike we’re after. Brilliant!!

The photos attached are before and after shots. The before shot shows lots of wheel/ tire marks on the walls, and you can tell they don’t always hit the hook they were after. We’ve had the SteadyRacks installed for over 6 months, and there’s nary a mark on the wall. Fantastic!!

Superb design - easy to use

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI spent a lot of time researching vertical wall mounts before purchasing the SteadyRack. My main focus was to find something that was easy enough for my daughter and wife to use, as they were unable to take their bikes off the wall or put them back up for that matter using the standard hook type solution that is sold by most big chain hardware stores.

I’m very happy with this solution so far, my wife and daughter can now get their bike off the wall, and put them back. The fact that you can swivel the mount side to side is a nice touch, as you can move other bikes out of the way when dealing with your bike. Obviously these are much more expensive than a hook, however, if your the type that appreciates simplicity and flexibility, you won’t be disappointed.

I ended up mounting three bikes on the wall, I ended up putting 16″ between each SteadyRack, I mounted the middle bike (mine) about 7-8 inches higher than the other two so that the handlebars would not interfere with each other, keeping in the mind that the two on the end would be easier to get up and down for my wife and daughter (lower to floor). I left room on the left and right side, so the bikes on the end can be swiveled out the way if needed. I did not use the mounting bolts that came with the kit, as the studs did not line up in my preferred location, I purchased 75 pound drywall screw kit, I used 3 of the 4 mounting holes on the top and bottom, I suppose you could use all 4 mounting spots if you wanted, however, it seems very secure using the top 3 for me. Follow the install instructions for height off the ground, as you don’t want to mount it to high off the ground or it will be harder for your wife and kids to deal with their bikes.

Hope this helps. Great product !!!

The rack has been great way to save space and organize my garage! Allowing the bikes to swing from side-to-side gives it increased functionality in that it can be place closer to other bikes/shelves/objects but moved to make more space to get to what you need. My only difficulty was in getting the wall anchors to properly hold when initially inserting the screws into the wall during installation. I eventually figured out how to get it to hold and it’s been working as advertised.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersWe have 8 of these for our family. Some from Amazon, some from the local bike shop. Yes, it was a hard “investment” to swallow for the easier daily usage. All 8 racks cost about the same as the cheapest bike in the family. You would want a garage for a nice car, right? If you are using your bikes several times per week or more you will start to see the value of these. Just tip it back and roll it in. The lighter bikes get a small hop up of about 6″, and that staggers the handlebar heights. We get all 8 bikes on the wall in about the same width as the sofa. 4 bikes are used daily, the other 4 are used 2-3 times per week, and all 8 are always easy to get to.

I am the one that installed them all, and I agree that the plastic end caps are not always easy to pop on and off. I grumbled a bit when doing it, (it hurts your fingertips after the first 3 or 4…), but now that it’s done the pain is gone and they look nice enough. The mounting holes are huge. The bolts that were supplied looked about 3 times bigger than they needed to be. The instructions were very well written and easy to understand. Yes, I’m normally the type that doesn’t read the directions, at least with something as simple as “locate wall stud, measure height, go”. But the tip on just putting the thing on the floor and backing the bike up against a wall to measure along the floor was a very good idea. In my case of having 8 bikes I also measured the wall to handlebar distance, floor to handlebar distance, and handlebar width. With a page filled up with numbers for each bike I was able to pick the right dimensions to get everything installed once and once only, and still have the ability to put any bike in any rack without the bikes touching the floor or each other and taking up the least amount of wall space. With some 26″, 29″, and 700c size wheels those numbers can be very different. The wall studs were in random locations and not where I wanted the racks. I chose to mount some nice oak veneer 3/4″ plywood securely to the wall studs, then freely position the racks on the plywood wherever I wanted them.

The kids have also noticed that these racks are great for cleaning. On the maintenance stand the handlebars can swing around and whack ’em in the head sometimes. On these wall racks the front wheel is nice and stable, and the other bikes can be tipped away to the side while cleaning. About the only thing they use the park stand for now is the chain scrubber. Can’t do that when vertical.

Most importantly, these racks are a joy to use daily. It just encourages us all to get out and ride more because there is simply no hassle getting the bike out the door.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersEndlich(!!!) habe ich keinen rger mehr mit rumstehenden Fahrrdern. 4 Fahrrder in der Doppelgarage. 2 Autos.

Golden Review Award: 10 From Our UsersGreat item – well designed, strong and easy to install with clear instructions providing all the info needed to position each rack at the correct height.

It does help if you know the approximate weight of your bike, as this affects the amount of flex in the rack when it’s under load and therefore the optimum height at which it will ensure easy and secure operation.

Because the racks rotate from side to side, it provides a handy way to inspect and work on parts of the bike that are normally difficult to access when freestanding – and allows bikes to be folded to either side to minimise storage space when not in use.

One thing to be mindful of is that this stand supports the weight of the bike by ‘cupping’ the front wheel – so in general, works best with bikes that don’t have a front mudguard.

Golden Review Award: 263 From Our UsersSo I have 5 bikes that I want to fit into a space 78 inches wide, and about 9 feet tall. I’ve been looking at all types of racks for over a year, and almost none of them will work for many reasons.

Steadyrack is the only thing I’ve found that will do the job. The primary feature that lets you pack bikes in tightly is the entire system allows the bike to pivot so it does not have to be perpendicular (90 degrees) to the wall.

The instructions are minimal. I recommend going on YouTube for the manufacturer’s installation video. In the pack you are provided 4 lag bolts for installing in studs, and 4 companion anchors if you are installing into masonry.

The hardest part is planning your installation. In a limited space, I can almost guarantee you will not find a stud where you want to put at least one of the bikes. Rather than try to gin up some sort of board that bolt into the studs, which is messy and will look terrible, go to your hardware store and use expandable metal anchors, which will hold up to 80 pounds each. You put four of them in the wall to fasten the Steadyrack, and it will more than hold the rack & bike, especially since the Steadyrack is only rated for up to 110 pounds.

The rack itself is attractive, it folds up when you’re not using it, the “beak-like” lip in front catches the wheel and lets you push it easily into the rack, and the front wheel is locked in.

So how did I get 5 bikes on the wall in such a tight space? Put the widest, tallest bike in the center of the wall, about 2 inches off the ground. Put a bike on either side as wide as you can fit, and raise them 3 inches up, that way the handlebars clear each other. Then the two last bikes are between the center bike and the adjacent bikes, placed about 30 inches off the ground. To get higher bikes in and out, you pivot the lower bikes out of the way.

Works well, easy to install, planning is the hard pa

Golden Review Award: 46 From Our UsersIt’s hard to impress me and bike storage has frustrated me for years. I’ve been through a few moderately expensive options. Having moved recently I was back in the market to try and solve the bike storage issue for our five bicycles, still wanting better than the old system I took with me. I wanted relatively easy installation. I wanted good quality. I wanted something that got the bicycles out of the way. I wanted a system that my wife and kids would actually use (this was the biggest problem). I have tried enough systems that didn’t work (or not very well) so was finally willing to spend more because I was at the point of the bike’s going or me going. If this is you, look no further. I bought five of these babies so quite a bill but I have no regrets five days in. This solves all these issues and now seems a bargain. I’m giving my old reasonably well reviewed zero gravity style (bar on wall, foot on floor, four arms sticking out to hold two bicycles) to charity.

It’s rare for me to give such a glowing review. I’ll update if my happiness level deteriorates since I’m posting at five day mark. But, in those five days I’ve only gotten happier.

    A few very minor nits:
    1) The little covers for the bolts don’t snap on/off very easily. Those could be better;
    2) There are no instructions for how to space them for multiple bicycles. They should give some instruction (Others online wrote about 16″ based on stud distance but happier at 32″ despite all the space that takes up horizontally. My space allowed 22″ spacing so I added studs to mount to which took more work but it works well at 22″. I don’t think 16″ would work well and 32″ is just too far apart. 24″ probably the sweet spot);
    3) The instructions are in metric so takes a little conversion (I found that mounting the bicycles so that the back tire is about 2″ off the floor when hanging in the rack)

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersWe recently moved into a new home, and I was looking for a way to efficiently store our family’s six bicycles and get them off the garage floor. I spent several weeks reviewing the different systems out there but was surprised to find that not one of the typical racks or suspension systems fit in a way I wanted. On a lark, my wife googled “bike storage systems” or some such title and ran across a picture of this system. We dug into it further and were initially quite interested. But, never having seen or heard of it, I was a little skeptical. We kept researching, however, and found this product on Amazon. (Note: it did not come up in a SINGLE search of bike storage systems I put into the Amazon search window. When we found an article about it online, we clicked on a link to where one could purchase the product, which took us to Amazon. Subsequent Amazon searches for this product during the our research phase were fruitless unless we went BACK to the article or put the EXACT product name in the search window.) After reading the other reviews and considering the relatively reasonable price, we decided to jump in with both feet and ordered six. I could not have been more pleased! The product construction is solid and the mounting screws are incredibly substantial. (I mounted all of mine into studs to ensure that they were sturdy enough not to pull out of the wall.)

In the end, the product works as advertised, and I COULD NOT BE MORE PLEASED. If faced with the same circumstance again, I would order these again in a heartbeat. (Note: Somewhere along the way, I read a review in which the reviewer stated that s/he mounted the racks on every other stud to allow ample room to articulate all the bikes on the row. I considered placing them closer together to preserve wall space but immediately recognized the wisdom of placing them a bit further apart. It does take up more wall space, but mounting them on an every-other-stud basis maximizes the effectiveness of this rack.)
