Easy to use, simple instructions even a novice like me found out where NOT to drill! Definitely recommend this.

I’ve tried several stud detectors and this is the best one yet, it’s not let me down it has always found wood. I have doubted it a couple of times but, it has always been right. One tip, when you calibrate it don’t move your hand position or fingers at all as it can make a difference. I would recommend this for home use, it’s a good price and does exactly what is says on the box!

This product is great for a beginner like me and I found it easy to use although I learnt more by watching short clips on YouTube than I did from the instructions that came with the device. But I liked that it came with the required 9-volt battery and found that it detected wooden spurs in a plasterboard wall with ease.

it took me 10 minutes to be sure I understood the results before drilling through plasterboard to find 2×2 batons. The result was first class. I have only used this once for a very specific reason, but I would definitely recommend this as a DIY tool

I was unsure how effective this would be at finding studs, but as long as you follow the instructions and calibrate each time it seems to work very well. Not sure about the electric cable detection though, but that’s not why I bought it.

This product worked straight from the packaging. It took a little getting used to when scanning but once you get the knack it is very straight forward. By using the different settings you can get a very good idea of where everything is in a wall to enable you to place fixings in safe and secure positions. This saved me a lot of time and effort of wall tapping and hoping for the best. The rails that i put up are very secure because of their positioning. A great product that i would recommend to anyone and also at a great price.

Can be a bit finniky if you tilt it etc but found the studs accurately.
Similar story to others with the voltage detection. Utterly useless for finding wires

Haven’t tried the other functions yet (electric cable and metal stud finder )
But it worked well when locating timber studs For me to fix monitor brackets to.
Very cost effective and very quick delivery too

At first it didn’t work but after hubby left the room all was perfect, turns out hubby is a stud too. Was near as damn it for finding the centre of some wooden studs so as to screw into. Easy to use instructions as well. Only down side is hubby can’t use it as, he’s a stud too.

I bought this to try and find upright timbers in old lath and plaster walls in our old house to fit floating shelf brackets into. I realise it’s not really designed for that. On a new stud partition wall, I found it to be 100% accurate. On the lath and plaster walls, using both the standard and ‘deep’ settings, I found it to be hit and miss and ended up drilling small pilot holes across sections of the wall, just to be sure I knew where the uprights were.

I’m not disappointed I bought it, I’ll probably use it again during our renovations at some point. Great for a modern wall built to standard, not really very good for lath and plaster walls in a period property.

This is simple to use and will help me with my diy. Now I won’t have to worry about drilling in the wrong place.

This works really well in finding AC cables both in masonry & plasterboard walls. Just what I needed to be able to safely drill holes in a kitchen. This is one of several identical ones but in different colours that are on Amazon & was the cheapest price this week.

Works perfectly for finding screws and nails embedded in wood. Used to make sure no metal was present in some used decking before putting it through a thicknesser. Definitely saved me from hitting hidden metal. Highly recommended.

Have used this a couple of times now, mainly to locate timber battens in stud walls and ceilings. The stud finder mode was absolutely bang on accurate, 100% of the time. The only reason I haven’t rated this 5 stars for accuracy is because I haven’t used all the features yet. What I would say is that it is dead easy to use – you press a button to calibrate (which takes a couple of seconds) and then away you go. Move it across the wall and it’ll detect both edges of the batten as well as the center. Great value.

Have been looking to purchase one for a while and struggled to identify a decent one with good reviews. But this one is brilliant, and is now used every weekend when we’re doing diy. Instructions are simple to understand and the product is ideal. Would highly recommend to anyone looking at getting a stud finder.

Good value for money, love the accuracy this product works. It helps to inspect the walls before drilling to avoid damage to electrical wires.

This device is easy to use, instructions are very clear. The accuracy is correct for studs but need to cross check again for live wires which seems a bit little less accurate as it showing lightening mark for a wide area as electric are there but it seems the live electrics are within small area. Deep scan for metals is good and accurate

Just purchased this to use on my renovation project. So far it seems pretty accurate locating timber studs on partition walls (the centre & edge functions are clever). On electrical wires I haven’t tried enough to comment. Advice is to read the instruction before trying out of the box as you have to understand how to “set” it on the wall before scanning. At the price I’m happy so far.

All round a very decent piece of kit, especially for the price. I used to have a Zircon e50 which I bought for 35 or so, but this is better, as the other one has no function to detect metal. I bought this stud finder to look for wires in the wall. It detects electricity by scanning for the magnetic field created by the flow of current, and where it doesn’t exactly show where the wires are (because the magnetic field can be significantly larger than just the area of the wires), I find it v useful to first detect if there is an eletrical field with the electricity sensor, and then use the metal sensor to detect where the actual wires in the wall are. It picks up wall studs very accurately as well. Whereas it doesn’t show exactly where electrical wires are, a stud finder that does will cost upwards of 400, so this one for less than 20 is brilliant for the function and the price.

It got a little confused occasionally, so i scanned the wall a few times until it was giving consistent reading and was able to locate the studs. The electricity scanner seems to be hyper sensitive and therefore not that useful as was constantly showing an alert even tho i knew i was way off from a buried cable, however i didnt purchase this device this purpose so didnt bother me

Bought this Tavool product to help me locate live wires behind stud partitioning in my house. As a novice DIYer I didn’t want to electrocute myself installing shelving on walls and blacking out the neighbourhood in the process. This product as very easy to use, the instructions were self explanatory – just calibrate and scan. I liked the feature that the wire icon displays regardless of the mode chosen as a safety feature. Overall, this was an excellent purchase at a superb price point, extremely accurate and instructions that my child could follow.
I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this Tavool product to other DIYers for peace of mind.

The product itself is easy to use and easy to figure out. The instructions are relatively clear, although with grammatical errors. Diagrams of the product within the instructions are less clear to decipher readings from.

The product seems fairly accurate although, following the instructions to the letter, when looking for active wires, I’ve had three different results returned from scanning the same spot of a bathroom wall. Another spot of the flat, this product returns a very different result to the wire scanner I had previously leaving me a little shaken in confidence.

That being said…I haven’t hit any live wires yet!

I needed the device to identify stud woodwork to mount shelves and weight bearing hooks into insulated plasterboard in a newly renovated room. The fact that it identifies electrical wiring is of course a useful bonus but I haven’t yet fully tested its accuracy in this respect but it seemed accurate in identifying wiring where it was likely to be. As for wooden studs, pressing it gently flat (so as not to score the paintwork), it uses its arrow indicators to show where the centre of the studwork is located, see photos. Right arrow means move to the right and left the opposite until you reach the centre. It pinpointed accurately potential woodwork for me to drive screws into safely. Also, you need to calibrate it each time you use it or want to identify a different type of hidden infrastructure, but this takes only a few seconds. A slight criticism is when moving it across the wall, you have to watch when holding it not to accidentally repress the calibration button on the side of the unit.

Easier to use than anticipated -useful tool for pinpointing hidden woodwork and electrics.

I tested this product on a wall I could see behind and it found the studs and wires easily (no pipes in the wall). It didn’t always get the edge of the stud right but it found the centre. I then used it on a wall to hang a TV and it did the trick. It’s easy to use and a steal at the price.

Bought the scanner as I live in a mid terrace 1900’s house with some old stud walls and cables all over the place! I received it today and carried out tests on both studs and location of cables (known and unknown cable positions). It was really accurate with the shallow live cables that I knew about, but seemed to pick up some random or ghost signals where I didn’t believe there were cables or possibly picking up on some of the neighbours cables as mid terrace?). So I recalibrated regularly and made a couple of passes to confirm. The location of studs was great and seemed to be really accurate – very useful tool to give a little more reassurance and caution, especially using power tools like drills and cutting channelling for chasing new cables with the multi-tool. Value for money – thought it was great!

I bought this item so I could accurately find wall studs to mount a TV bracket. For the price I paid an for the accuracy of the product I got it mounted first time without issue.

Issue could have been the accuracy not finding the centre of the stud but it shows the centre and tell you whether you need to move left or right.

It also finds electrical wires as well which on my wall was a concern with sockets and switches.

Being handled by Amazon I got shipping very quickly, with the wall mount(other seller) by DPD so overall for the value I paid, the accuracy I give it top marks.

Is it better than the other more expensive versions? I don’t know but based on what I needed it for it worked perfectly.

Following some lengthy home remodelling and redecoration work, which included hanging some rather large/heavy mirrors requiring multiple fixing points, I needed to locate and avoid before drilling any holes, some central heating pipes and electrical cables concealed behind the existing drylining. So, went onto Amazon and after some deliberation, chose this particular device after reading some of the reviews – both positive and negative – and the fact that it was reasonably priced, which, in my case, was an aspect because it’s only going to be used infrequently. After unpacking and reading the simple instructions, I found it very easy to calibrate and use with its large, easy to read screen; most importantly, it accurately located the pipes and cables I was wishing to avoid before undertaking any drilling work. All mirrors are now securely fixed to the walls with no dramas, so this device gets a thumbs-up from me.

My house is about 115 years old and has had much alteration.
