Good little gadget!
We already had something similar but it was a bit old and technology has moved on. I like the fact that there is a visual reading and it actually tells you when you’re at the centre of a stud. Not had to use it for anything else just yet but happy so far.

Great and simple
A very simple and cost effective piece of kit. It takes a few minutes to understand how the calibration works and the instructions are simple. If you can it’s useful to test where you know you would find metal or AC wires to get to know how to use the scanner. Very pleased with this purchase.

I have been testing it around the house, and I can easily ‘track’ the cables across the walls leading from light switches, plug sockets etc. Since receiving the device, I have already securely installed a TV bracket in the kid’s bedroom.
The onboard LCD screen is also top quality, bright, easy to read and understand. The centre bar will fill and the audible beep will indicate the presence of any wooden beam, steel girder, electric cable etc. I am already planning my next 3 projects using this device to put up bookshelves and another TV bracket. 10/10 product. Seriously the best stud finder we’ve ever used. Super easy, super light and super recommended.
Not too many button going on and the button that they do have are easy to press (I say this because either uve got poor dexterity like me, this is a feature I really like about this machine). The screen on it is very easy to read also.

It works
I do not need a stud finder that often, which makes it all the more that whatever I have is available to use straight away and has all of the functions I need. This was an emergency replacement as my old device failed. It seems good, it arrived fast and has a useful set of functions. It is a bit big, but tat is OK.
Pretty reliable
I’m new to the DIY world and was really nervous about putting up some shelves in my new house. Being a pretty old house, the electrics are definitely not following normal regulations of only going up, down or horizontal from a socket. I feel a lot more confident using this. Sometimes it does throw a few random readings but if you calibrate it again it sorts itself out. I’ve testing the same patches of wall over and over and get consistent readings. Not bad at all for the money

Great acquisitio
I bought the scanner for helping put up shelves and pictures in my daughter’s new house. It worked a treat, with pretty good accuracy. Instructions were simple to follow and it was easy to use. Definitely will be a permanent feature in my tool box. A bargain for under 20.
Not a DIY expert but I found this easy to use
I once drilled close to a wire and had to open a big hole up to repair it. This device has helped me never do this again. It is easy to use and I find it very reliable. An absolutely essential piece of kit in my tool box. Good price and I am a very happy DIY person now
Brilliant, well worth the money
Bought this as we are moving and will need to put up pictures, curtains and other soft furnishings. I have used it around the flat and it’s very good at telling you where things are and scans for live wires on every setting. Practice makes perfec
I needed a detector to show the location of wooden studding and live wiring in a stud wall prior to putting up shelving. At first the impression was that the device was a bit erratic in it’s readout. However, once I took my time, practiced a bit and got used to the display I found it accurate and reliable.

Great accuracy
Great tool. I’m glad I purchased this as I had marked up the wall to fix a tv mount. Precisely where I marked up I located a live wire using the scanner. I haven’t yet used it to find studs etc however the accuracy with locating the wire can’t be faulted. In addition this is far better priced then many others I looked at.

Accurate cable and stud detectio
Bought it initially for cable finding the fact it also finds studs and pipes is a bonus. As you can see by photos it is very accurate I tested it on places where I knew there was a cable and wasn’t you get a strong bar displayed on the screen and an audible alarm when detected a cable. I tested it on the ceiling checking for beams and it did exactly that, alerted me for each one. Instructions are easy to follow and using the detector could not be easier. Very happy with product cables and pipes remain in tact.

Very easy to use. I am a simple DIYer and found the studs and electrics in my plasterboard wall very easily. You simply click mode and then scan across the wall.

After viewing some of the negative reviews I was almost put off buying this product, I’m glad I went with my own instinct’s and purchased the item, after checking the wall for studs it was very accurate, all I can say is if you read the supplied instructions the item works as described and did a good job for me, highly.

Finally, a Stud Finder that works, yes that’s what I said it WORKS!!!
So one has an inexpensive item, that works, is easy to calibrate and arrives with minimal packaging.
I have struggled for years and used so many units and followed so many ‘tps’ and of course magnets………. however here we have the answer, for me anyway, its so easy to set up and then use. One can find both edges and centre so getting a great grip between the item and the stud is good.

I was having issues with the stud finder at first but once I actually read the instructions and calibrated the unit as instructed it worked very well. It’s paid for itself in the first job and saved me from a hidden AC wire. Even came with a battery which is so handy when you just want to get DIY projects finished.

For what you pay this is a brilliant product and I had no trouble using it, especially as I hadn’t used one before. I didn’t the initial knock test then calibrated it correctly by reading the instructions and watching a few vids, the instructions aren’t perfect but the diagrams/imaging really helped for which steps to follow. Will definitely be using again shortly to hang other items as it’s just so simple and easy to use.

The live wire scanner seems a bit more tricky to use. I believe this is due to it being highly sensitive. Moving it too fast causes it to beep, presumably because of the static electricity. Being even remotely close to anything electrical will trigger it to beep constantly as well. For example it was displaying my whole wall was full of live electrics up to about 2.5m from my fridge. While this is unfortunate, it did still work very well in other areas of the house, away from larger electrical appliances.

I’ve been pretty impressed with how accurate this little thing is. Already used it for a few little jobs round the house and has hit the stud bang on every time. For the money it’s been brilliant, just remember to calibrate it every time it leaves the wall.

Cheap-no need to buy an expensive tool when this does the job perfectly! It’s easy to use with only 2 buttons – mode and automatic calibration, unlike other products which you have to do yourself, very accurate at finding studs, wood beams and ac wires, should have bought this years ago!

Easy to use finde
I was pretty scared of hanging things on walls: you might find unpleasant surprises.
This finder solves my problem. Just press the button and you will find out if you work area is clear.

Love the ease of use, very accurate and quality instruction manual. Needed to find studs in cavity wall and it did so with ease also has a warning indication when your are near electrics. Finds metal studs, live electric cables, copper pipes. Really really useful tool for the DIY’er and budding professional.
Does what its supposed to do at a competitive price
The scanner seems to be well made and is straight forward to use. Instructions are comprehensive and mostly very clear. I was able to identify live cables in a wall before drilling holes to support a shelf.

Works pretty good. For the price no complaints. The instructions arent written in the best English but they are understandable. The screen shows which direction items are to be found and the buttons seem solid and should last a while.

This product is extremely helpful as it was very accurate and easy to use. the instruction pamphlet provided are easy to understand and allow you to get stared with using the product asap. This product allowed me to locate the centre of studs easily and also accurately locates any live wires and metal pipes therefore providing me with confidence when drilling into walls!

We recently moved into a new house with plasterboard walls and wanted to mount a TV to the wall. When speaking with a friend about the process, they advised us to get this so we could locate any metal or wooden beams behind the wall or any power cables.
Although we haven’t installed the TV yet, the product does seem to locate power cables, as well as wooden beams and metal beams behind the wall. By moving the device across the wall, it appears to pinpoint the precise location.
So far we have been impressed.

I did have to use multiple passes and calibrations to be sure I had found the stud correctly.

We’re were in need of an electrical cable detector,as I live in an old property and ‘who knows’ where the cables run.After reading other people’s reviews,we plumped for this model.Really pleased with the device….easy to understand the instructions,easy to use/handle..it’s certainly a must have in ones toolbox and it’s not too expensive.

Great scanner, I needed this to locate some hidden cables in my kitchen wall, extreme easy to use, simply calibrate and set the scanner to the correct scan (Timber, metal, power cable) works like a dream and exceptionaly reasonable price.
Good stud finder, does what it should, but nowhere to keep the battery unplugged between uses.
Seems to work well on AC wires, which is what I bought it for. I know where some of the wires are in my walls and it found them all, so I have pretty high confidence it will find any I don’t know about. My only gripe and the reason for 4 stars is that this type of stud finder will primarily be bought by DIY’ers like me and will be used seldom. If the battery is left in the machine it will likely run out or leak before the next use. I tried to turn the battery round so it can be kept in the compartment but not plugged in, however the compartment is such a tight fit, this cannot be done. Maybe Tavool could make the battery compartment either 2/3 mm wider or longer, so the battery can be stored in the machine but unconnected. Overall, I would recommend.

Well, delighted to find this little gadget. Instructions very good and up and running in no time. Does exactly as described – what a help this has been in locating straps. Has four functions so you can easily locate pipe work, wiring etc.

Stating the obvious hope it does what it is supposed to do, tried it on a spare piece of plaster board, with a piece of metal, electric cable and a wooden batten, put under it, the device found every piece, the only thing was the piece of metal, as it said in the instructions, is does not find the centre, you find the 2 sides (which could be a few centimetre’s away from the centre) then the metal is in the middle, (maybe too sensitive ? ) but tried it a few times with the same result. Next step is trying it for real.
Does what it says
Used this to secure some squeaky floorboards (finding joists/checking for power cables) and putting up shelves (checking for power cables) and it was fine. Is very sensitive to power showing them in many places but erred on the side of caution and got the jobs done. Happy with the product and it was very easy to use and understand.

At this price I did not really expect it to work this well, but I have had it for some time now and used it on a number of jobs where I needed to avoid drilling into mains cables in walls and have also used in when screwing down lose floorboards to check for joist location. You do need to pay attention to the instructions and take care to calibrate it and take your time but so far it has worked well for me.

Stud Finder wall scanner 4 in 1
I’ve tested this product by laying out a board with a stud, copper pipe and live wire extension beneath it.
1. Stud test is very good. Just need to make sure to place the tool on the board surface without stud below it
2. Metal test is also very good. Identify the copy pipe pretty accurately
3. Live Wire test is not too good. I place the live wire extension beneath the board and calibrate the tool in the air. however it didn’t seem to find the wire when I pass the tool over it on the board surface. It did find it when I move the tool to the edge of the board where the extension lead start going beneath the board.
I’ve also test around the light switches on the wall and sometime it just beep every where and other times seem better. I would be very careful when using this to find live wire

I got this Stud Finder to help check walls for studs and for safety due to electrical wires hidden within walls.
This has been great so far as it has enabled me to find the studs behind the wall and to be able to add the shelfing and larger photo frames I wanted to install.
I have also tested the finder in locations where i already knew electrical wires to be installed behind the wall and it identified these without any issues.
The finder is easy to use and accurately identified the studs and electrical cables to help give me confidence that it was the right location and safe to drill into the wall.

he stud detector is a great little tool that I was able to use extremely quickly, it took a few moments of playing around on areas where I knew there were wires and studs to get to grips with it but once this was done I was fully trusting of the result. It allowed me to drill a couple of holes close to wires, pipes, and studs with relative comfort. Delivery was fast and well packaged

QUALITY stud, metal and live wire finde
I used the TH250 to detect where studs were to enable me to put a new door way into my dining room, it was accurate and easy to use (Even for a none techie like me).
I also re-arranged my kitchen and in doing so I needed to put another electric socket in (for the new position for the tumble dryer) it was by the pipework so I needed to know exactly where the pipework was. The TH250 was accurate and really easy to use.
I have used it to check before putting a shelf up in the living room and it found a live electric wire, the TH250 saved me again.

Bought this as a lightening deal for a really good price. The product works great, I needed it to locate studs in my wall before attaching furniture to the wall but have also tested it with metal work and electricals. Works fab will definetly be useful!
Very good value for money
Comes in a good quality carboard box with clear and easy instructions. Works well on stud walls and also I found it can detect electrical wiring through solid walls. Having one of these takes the stress and risk out of drilling holes through something you don’t want to hit. Very happy with the product.

Arrived overnight - worked right out of the box
I’m using this to help me fit skirting boards in a new house. The plasterboard is fixed on 1 inch battens so I need to be accurate. It arrived quickly and, with a quick skim of the instructions, worked straightaway. Pleased that Tavool include a battery.
Does the job
Detects studs, metal and live current well. Minus 1 star because when in stud mode the live current warning light is always illuminated, though in live current mode it works correctly. The instructions are not the best English but good enough to describe how the various modes work and troubleshooting steps. Added bonus, the unit came supplied with the required 9 volt battery.
Important gadget to have to save you money from making an erro
This product was very useful as it saves time and mental energy in trying to recall, or understand what was behind the wall whether it be a beam, wires, studs etc. The accuracy seemed to be very good and has saved me headache of crossing my fingers and hoping for the best! The only downside was the instructions. I didn’t understand the calibration but there were so few buttons that it was easy to use. Its quite an exciting purchase knowing I can safely put nails/screws in the wall without worrying. There is a loud constant noise telling you that you have located one of the 4 types of material i.e. beam, wooden baton, deep batons and wires. There is also a gauge to tell you exactly where it is.

Accurate, helpful at locating hidden objects in a wall
My hubby, tends when drilling into a wall, hits studs or an in drillable material. Then has to polyfil the holes and relocate to another suitable area of the wall for the job been done. He says this saves him time and his temper, as it gives him the area of where he can/cannot drill and adjusts accordingly.
Simple to use after a few practice runs through the four modes, to get use to and understanding you are doing it correctly.

Need to calibrate the sensor before each use
Seems to work as described. I’ve found studs, steels and electric cables with no problems. Annoying to have to calibrate each time it is switched on.
Works
Works well, finding wires, studs etc under plasterboard. Some walls in my house have been recently plaster boarded, and I knew where the wires and pipes were. I can confirm they showed up correctly.
Useful little tool.
Seems to work well. Bit awkward to get used to at the start, but I think that is just because there are a few options. Have tried it on my own walls where I know there are wired and pipes and seems to do a good job.
Easy to use at a great price
My stud finder came via next day delivery and was extremely easy to set up and begin to use. After a few moments of placing it on the stud wall I was scanning, it soon found the studwork and I was confident when drilling the holes for the work I was doing.

This arrived and without reading the instructions (I did know that you have to press the button on the right to calibrate) I could work out exactly how to work it and found exactly where the heating pipes run in a concrete floor. I will be using it lots now I have found something this useful

Normally I would tap the wall at various places to find the studs by listening for the sound differences, but this time it just didn’t work. I ordered this Stud Finder Wall Scanner, followed the instructions to calibrate it against a part of the wall I knew did not have any studs behind it, then scanned across the wall. Found the studs perfectly, even enabled me to find the center of the studs. Really pleased and avoided making lots of little pilot holes to find them
