For the first time ever, the key snapped off in my my heavy duty, bicycle lock. The long handles gave plenty of purchase and so it’s snapped off first time and hankfully.

I needed to cut a broken padlock which was easy even with carpal tunnel in both arms
And so good for many other uses

As expected, not yet used in anger but look and feel sturdy cutters.

Sturdy and easy to use with a wide cutting aperture. I used these to cut through 10mm thick carbon steel pushrods from a Harley engine so couldn’t afford to ness it up and these cutters cut through like butter and a hot knife with little effort on the arms. Get whatever you are cutting as far into the jaws as possible and it will cut with ease.

I ONLY USED IT FOR CUTTING A SCREW AND SLICED IT LIKE BUTTER. IT SEEMS STURDY ENOUGH TO CUT CABLES AND SUCH. TOO LONG FOR SMALL JOBS.

Works fine; we shall have to wait to see how it holds up.

I highly recommend these bolt cutters. I was worried that I would not be strong enough to use bolt cutters as I am not a strong female. I was pleasantly surprised and extremely satisfied with this product as it took me less than 10 seconds to cut through the bolt. I oiled the product first, as per other comments, and it worked wonders.

Nice, long bolt cutter. It cuts bolts really easily thanks to the long handles to give extra leverage. Seems well made and sturdy.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersHaving read some of the complaints about this I thought there might be a problem in getting the jaws to move. .In Fact there are none . I found it was stiff because the blue paint had hardened after it was closed. I slackened the bolts with a spanner put thin oil into all the treads and did the bolts up. After working the handles five or six times it freed up enough to be just tight enough not to fall open when picked up by one handle. It did the job cutting a spring mattress into four pierces. I was out of practice so my shoulders got stiff but I did about 200 cuts without marking the jaws. A good no nonsense bolt cutter . RECOMMENDED

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersSaved me an awful lot of time wasting attempting to cut metal wire using incorrect tooling.

This device makes the task simple. Solid and good quality construction.

Not sure what thickness of metal / wire it will handle, but certainly made light work for my requireme

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI have absolutely no idea how “stretch” relates to this product… (who thinks these categories up!… and who does Jeff Bezos employ to oversee this minor part of his global empire?) hence the mid-rating… but if it refers to jaw capacity… it’s 25mm at the blade tips and 5mm near the pivot. Again with “thickness” …of what? similar rating but it seems fairly robust and as yet I haven’t managed to damage any part of it when used on the chain-link wire fencing, but I haven’t tried it on the prison bars yet.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersDespite being a slightly built 5′ 2″ female, the job was made easy with this tool. Easily cut through 7mm hardened steel security chain – I had forgotten the combination on a padlock.
Think a smaller model would not have performed as well. Now, where to store this beast?

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI needed a strong bolt cutter to break a padlock. I had tried other bolt cutters but none worked. These made light work of the lock. Great leverage helps to get the pressure needed to break the lock. Great value as well

So I never in my wildest dreams imagined a bolt cutter would cut a hardened cylinder head bolt from an engine. But it did!!
Ok there was a little bit of effort involved but absolutely no damage to the cutting edges. Very impressed. Highly, highly recommended.

Cut a hardened headbolt from an engine with no damage to cutting edges. Amazing. Highly recommend

The Tool House Bolt Cutter is a 24inch 600 mm long bolt cutter. They are made from carbon steel with a drop forged finish. The handles are blue with rubber handles. There is an adjustment screw on the side for edge alignment but mine were aligned perfectly out of the box. I tested these out in the garden by cutting through a masonry nail and an old sensor light I couldn’t get of the wall and it cut through them like a hot knife through butter. To be honest these don’t have the quality feel of a professional tool but at 19.90 they are incredible value and more than strong enough for most everyday jobs. I am delighted with this product and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it.

Robust and sturdy and exceptional good value

It says bolt cutter… what I’ve actually used this for is getting in the shed, after rather foolishly using my gym locker padlock as an outside shed lock (it seized last winter).

This worked fine. It took some elbow grease but those locks weren’t really designed to withstand someone with decent tools (who takes bolt cutters into a gym changing room).

So for me they were totally fit for purpose and worked fine!

Personally i don’t have any problem with thks device, I have been using it since to cut the metals in my garden and its been doing a fantastic job,

There is a half was cut metal in my garden that has been all this while proven stubborn, as soon as li get this I went there straight and I was able cut it without any stress.

I honestly do recommend this .

These are really heavy duty. In the past I have had to remove old padlocks and chains that have either rusted up or the keys simply wouldn’t work and using a hacksaw or grinder takes ages so when I saw these I had to get them as a standby tool and I’m so glad I did, as this week I had a padlock on my rear gate that just would not unlock. I used this bolt cutter on it and it was like a hot knife cutting through butter, so easy to use.
The tool is heavy and well built, there is an adjuster bolt on the side to fine adjust the sharp blades to be level with one another and it works superbly.
These were quite tight when I first got them but I think this is due to the paint and storage, I just sprayed up around the links and bolts with some WD40 and they loosened up nicely.
Great value and saved me a lot of hassle.
    Recommended.

A hefty bolt cutter, it is strong and powerful. It is also very stiff in use requiring a little effort just too open the jaws. It does however serve its purpose, and cuts through bolts with relative ease, the long handles combined with the pivot action providing plenty of leverage.

Really pleased and surprised at the quality of these considering the low price, the materials used are a high quality with carbon steel cutters which make light of most work.
Plastic ridged handles make yuor grip much sturdier and reduces the risk of your hands slipping and dropping the bolt cutter.
Well packaged and protected, from the moment you life these bolt cutter out of the box you can feel the quality and they are of a good weight so you can get some good power behind them .

    Great quality

These are much larger and heavier than expected for price. They are really heavy duty and i was eager to test them on an old dog chain that leather strap had broke on and they cut through it like was paper But it was like a work out for me using them, just opening them worked muscles I forgot I had and to close them I had to use all body weight. Now I am a tiny woman at under 5ft and my daughter put me to shame by open, Close and cut with much less effort ‘although I still say because I loosened for her’ lol.Since first test my husband has oiled and used a few times again putting me to shame with ease of use but even he says they are are heavy duty and feel it.I originally ordered because I do a lot of craft items and lots of them are of darker steam punk and gothic style so I use heavy chains and locks occasionally as well as buying lots of unknow boxes of items which have in past included padlocked boxes with no keys (never found treasure but live in hope lol) These cutters feel they will handle anything I throw at them, with benefit of me get proper workout whilst use Lol.Great quality bolt cutters at great price and totally recommended

As a yard switcher, I have to cut a minimum of 20-30 bolt seals on containers/ trailers everyday and these bolt cutters have exceeded my expectations. The blades, at least after one week have stayed sharp, no deformations, and show no signs of hard use.

Tools House 24″ Bolt Cutter, 600mm Long

Bolt cutters are certainly a tool that are worth having in your workshop. I’ve had a few padlocks seize up over the years, the only way to remove them was by either grinding through the lock or using bolt croppers.

These are quite a large pair of bolt croppers that at first glance appear to be decent quality for the 19.99 price tag. The handles are 24 inches long being made from hollow tube steel. The hand grips are made from a black nylon material that seems to be moulded to the handles. The jaws are made fro powerful looking cast steel that has been ground down to form the jaws. All are held together by hardened steel bolts that can be adjusted to tighten or loosen the jaws. There is also an adjustment bolt which is used to align the jaws so they sit squarely when the jaws are closed.

I did find my bolt cutter to be very tight indeed, in fact my wife couldn’t even move the handles as a good deal of muscle power was needed. The reason for this was a fault in the manufacture process, one side of the mechanism had been ground down too far. The bolt had been tightened so much that it had bent the metal causing the extra tightness. With a little adjustment I managed to loosen off the handles so they operated correctly.

I have tested this out on some mild steel bolts where it cut through with ease. I have not tested this on a hardened padlock but I suspect this will perform as expected. These are huge and heavy, something that you will not use every day, but when needed will surely be worth it’s weight in gold.

This is no high end tool, but for less than 20 quid it’s a powerful and useful bolt cropper that will exert a great deal of pressure on any bolt or padlock.

Thank you for reading my review, I hope you have found it helpful.

Powerful Bolt Cutter with a minor design flaw

These bolt cutters are very heavy. The entire construction is very solid and gives you confidence. The handles are so long and the jaws move very little – giving you huge amount of leverage force.
Managed to cut through an old chain linked fence with ease. A few metal bolts also posed no issue either.
Overall, should work fine for the casual DIYer. At 20 it’s priced reasonably considering its size.
    Definitely can recommend this…

Very sturdy, cuts through wires and small bolts without any problems

Good quality, solidly built bolt cutters. The long handles with robust rubber grips give plenty of traction making this fairly easy to use. It made short work of shortening some 10mm screwed rod.

  29. StanleySparkes says:

Bit stiff to use at first but great once they got going.
I’m assuming having the longer handles means more leverage. I’m no DIY expert.

Great addition to my arsenal of tools.

Strong and well made. Good value for money.

Always felt I need to a pair of bolt cutters in my arsenal of tools and these 24″ fit the bill.

Not too big that they take up a lot of space around the garage and about the right weight to allow you to cut quite precisely. The jaws open quite wide and allow considerable force to be applied when cutting.

Easily went through a few test screws I had laying around but when it came to 4mm steel metal it just left a mark and didn’t actually cut it.

Seem well made and would probably do most jobs the average DIY enthusiast would use them for.

I think this is a really heavy-duty bolt cutter. The quality is simply excellent. It really does look and feel very well-made. It’s super solid and the handles are made from rubber. This really helped provide me with tones of grip and also help with slipping. When putting force on the arms.

I’ve been testing it out for a few days now and it has cut right through everything from padlocks to bolts with ease. I haven’t had any problems at all.

I’ve actually had a lot of fun with this and it will definitely come in handy in the future.

The cutter blades themselves are sharp and made from carbon steel, it just screams great high-quality, exactly what i needed.

Really pleased with this and would definitely recommend.

    Amazing quality bolt cutters.

Great bolt cutters, made from cast iron. Rubber grip handles mean you can get a good hold on them when in use. Little stiff to open at first, but there is a small valve that you can turn and adjust the ease in which they open. Good value.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersSeriously not sure what all the fuss is about, but my husband was very happy with these and proceeded to cut a random stake we had in our garden to demonstrate how great these are for me. He loves them and is very excited about all the things he is going to cut (?). I’m really not sure what you would need these for, but he assures me that they will be invaluable when we have something we do need to cut.

Currently, cutting through a thick metal stake has kept him happy but I fear for the future.

(I should add that he’s a mechanical engineer so is in his element. We’ve been slowing adding to his growing set of tools over lockdown. He has mentioned welding a few times but I’m hoping this keeps him entertained long enough that he’s back in the office before he adds that to his tool box.)
