This is a very awesome box drum. My husband loves collecting different instruments and he loves this. He hasn’t been able to play it very well but he tries. Beautiful piece.

When I first ordered this drum I didn’t know what to expect, I mean I saw people playing it and it looked cool but now I know. I LOVE sitting on this box and just banging away! I think it’s therapeutic.
You learn how to play it as you experiment with it. There are different ways that you that you can hit it the drum, or cup your hands differently that gives you different types of sounds. To let you know how solid this box is, I weigh 250 pounds and this drum holds me up with no problems. I don’t feel like it’s going to break underneath me. I would say it’s commercial grade, and the fit and finish is wonderful.
It really is fun to play, and even my adult kids want to play on Dad’s drum. When I’m not using it I use it as a small table for a one of my speakers. It is well worth the money and something that I could see lasting forever if not abused. I highly recommend!

    Too Much Fun!

My whole family has always been pretty musical with all of us playing at least a few instruments each. Luckily this love of playing instruments passed onto my kids and my 10 year old already plays a few consistently, one of which is the drums. I have heard and seen these before, but I have never actually played one myself. So I was excited to see what it was all about!

The overall quality and craftsmanship looks pretty darn good for something you can get for a few hundred bucks on Amazon. It’s super sturdy and well made. Playing it like any instrument takes dedication and practice. As I said my son plays the drums and he didn’t pick this up super easily like I thought he would. But he has been watching Utube videos and can keep a beat so he has been slowly but steadily learning. Overall pretty cool and unique instrument.

This thing is a hit in my music room! I had never seen this product before, but it looked interesting, so I ordered it. And I’m so glad I did, because it is a hit among my friends. They all love it and have started teaching me all kinds of things about it (like every side has different sound effects) It makes for the perfect extra seat in a music room and gives beginners something to play along with.

I have always wanted a cajon box drum, and this Topnaca String Cajon Box Drum did not disappoint. The birchwood percussion box with internal metal guitar strings and ebony burst frontplate produces a subwoofer bass sound that is perfect for various music genres. The Baltic birch body makes it sturdy and durable, suitable for kids, teens, and adults. Even though I am not a percussionist, I can tell that this is a high-quality cajon box drum that a real musician would be satisfied with. The included allen wrench is a handy tool to adjust the tension on a string behind the front plate. The only downside is the included bag, which is not very sturdy. Nonetheless, it’s still useful if you need to carry it around outside.

Baltic Birch for extra crisp percussion. Well designed to project sound. Large rubber feet on the bottom. And it includes a nice carrying case. Great for small gigs, churches, and home use!!!

Trust you found this review honest and helpful:-)

If you want to get into performance media and music, a cajon is the way to start! A basic and much needed base instrument this one did not disappoint!! my husband has always wanted one, and the cajon and case combo was too perfect to pass up. It looks a little more brown in person than red like the pictures, but works very well!

I got this to add to our church’s repertoire. It is fairly easy to play if you have some rhythm. My kids love it, and have a great time playing it. The sound it makes is great and really can add to the music. I like that it comes with a carrying case.
When not in use it is still very pretty and blends in easily on the stage.
If you are looking for a fun instrument and want to try out a more economical version, this is a great first cajon. I am not sure what the weight capacity is on it, that would be great information to have. For now though we are still looking for someone brave enough to give it a try and play on Sunday’s.

I’m not super-familiar with these types of drums despite being a percussionist for many years… Still, it produces a variety of good sounds and seems to be of exceptional quality. The case and tuning key make for a complete set, too. The only negative is that it’s very big. It will take up some space in your home, and if you live in a studio apartment or form, unless you plan on using it as a stool you’d be wise to think about it before jumping on this purchase. If you have the storage space and want a multi-tone fancy drum that you sit on, this is a really great option. Five stars.

This beautiful box drum is wonderfully made! It features superior construction and is just a beautiful object in it’s own right. The box has been precisely constructed and has a great sound quality. One thing that makes this product stand out from others is the awesome storage/ travel case. It offers excellent protection from environmental hazards like dust and moisture and also offers protection from scratches and breakage. Lightweight enough to carry comfortably but strong enough for a 250 pound man to sit on while playing. I love this box drum and it is very easy for a beginner to learn how to play.

    Know what you are buying.

    How this arrived
This arrived in a very sturdy near square, rectangular, plain brown cardboard package that listed the name brand and that it was made in China. The measurements of that package being about 21″ x 14″ x 14″. The package weighed in at about (15) pounds.

What’s inside the plain brown cardboard package
Inside is a soft pliable black instrument case that has a front pocket and zips up, with a double zipper, the entire cajon, for carrying, whether by its built-in web handle or backpack straps. This was a nice bonus and the brand name “Topnaca” is embroidered, in script, across a front zippered pocket of the carrying case, spanning from left to write, about (6″) and from the highest and lowest points, of the letters, about (2″) in height. This really makes this look like a professional instrument. The measurements being about the package it arrived in, 21″ x 14″ x 14″ in size. That front zippered pocket, for example, for sheets of music or brushes, measures 16″ x 12″ and could easily expand to a couple of inches thick. The case weighed in at about (1) pounds

What’s inside the soft carrying case
Inside, of course, is a perfectly made cajon, within a plastic bag, it has a rich dark walnut colored covered face and sides, back, and bottom made of very light birch. I am not sure if these are veneers, they might be. But the aroma is awesome, I can really catch the aroma of fresh birchwood, which I personally like.

    How to play?
Sit on and pound away at various locations on the dark (walnut colored) covered side.

    Max weight of player
Unknown, however the models in the listing look to be under 200LBS.

    How to tune?
There is an Allen wrench to use for tightening the guitar string, to obtain its best sound. Caution is advised when using, to avoid damaging the string.

    Wood
Birch (light) and ebony (dark). Again, these could be veneers over plywood.

    Weight of Cajon?
The Cajon weighs-in at about (11) pounds.

    How to carry?
When not in the bag, there is a built in recessed carrying handle, which makes carrying the Cajon around easy…

    Cajon’s shape
    I say a (vertical) rectangle

    Cajon’s measurements
    The Cajon measures 19″ x 12″ x 12″ (plastic/rubber, about ” tall are a part of that height).

    The fit & finish
Perfect and smooth. No cracks, warps, scratches, nor dents. There are screws that make this up, which is common for this instrument. The wood is very smooth and has a satin finish. There were no finishing odors, but I could smell the birch, which I think is really nice.

    Water resistance?
None, keep it out of bad weather

    Absorption of moisture
Always an issue, for any wood instrument.

    Heat
Nothing extreme, keep out of the sun.

    Country of origin
    China

    My privilege
I consider myself privileged to have had the opportunity to select and receive this smooth performing beautiful Cajon. I have no complaints, other than it would have been nice to have some sort of literature of any kind, including instructions on maintaining this, but no stars taken away.

    Value
    Competitively priced with other Cajons.

    Overall
I think this a quality product at a good value.

    Sound
I think, in the totality, considering make, model, where made, and priced, it sounds great, true, I am no sound engineer nor maker of fine instruments.

    Gifting?
This is a fantastic, must give gift [we have young children and want them to be exposed to musical instruments, even if they are going to sit around and bang on the drum all day (right Todd Rundgren)].

    Bottom-line
Absolutely we would select this again. Total first class.

I hope my thoughts added information.

Absolutely Beautiful Fit & Finish; Fun, Great Sound; Wood Constructio

Beautifully made. Craftsmanship is on point and the sound is perfect. Comes with a very nice storage bag that you can tote around either by handle or backpack straps. The internal guitar strings are adjustable that gives you the perfect sound. Very sturdy with rubber feet and a carrying handle. This simply is a perfect cajon box. Would recommend!

I do play instruments…I have an 81-key Roland workstation, I also have a 37-key Roland synthesizer, a 15/16 chromatic hammered dulcimer and a 9/10 traveler hammered dulcimer (among other instruments), so yes, I love to play music. I thought that this cajon box drum would be a great way to get my “head in sync” with what I’m playing, if that makes sense. Plus I am learning to use Ableton Live to record tracks and having my own instruments to record very specific sounds is useful. This is a well-made box “thumper” that has an excellent range of sounds – I have several pairs of hammered dulcimer hammers, some with leather “deadening” material, some are just wood and some with a cotton material wrapped around the hammers for an even softer sound. They actually work really well on this cajon when I need the influence of a percussion instrument while playing the HD. Nice addition to my musical instrument “library!”

I’ve been looking for a way to expand my knowledge of different instruments, and this is a fantastic introduction to percussions. While this absolutely isn’t a substitute for a full drum set, it does have very distinct tones that give it a lot of versatility and is great for ‘open jam’. If you hit higher on the box near the frame it has sort of a cymbal sound, whereas toward the center you get more of a deeper winded ‘boom’. The backpack to carry it around is a tad bulky and firm so it’s awkward, but it is nice that there’s a way to keep it mobile and protected. Materially, they picked quality wood and when you sit on it, it feels very sturdy. You can also tell they put a lot of thought into the little details like rounding the corners so it’s not sharp in case you accidentally hit that.

Our daughter is currently in college studying music education. She plans on being a music teacher and she has a percussion/piano background. This box drum is an amazing tool for her! The sounds that you can make with this Topnaca drum sound so much like a true snare it’s crazy! It’s super comfortable to sit on and play and the carrying case (which can be worn as an awkward backpack) plus the lightweight makes it very portable! I would think this would also be perfect for street musicians looking for a percussive sound! It is a great drum over all!

Much deeper bass than other i;ve tried, though whether this is subjective as the sound comes out rge front rather than back is up for someone more acoustically minded. feels really solid, corners on the seat area are all rounded so it is comfortable. The bag is also robust and has extral pocket space enough for stickd, brushes and a seat pad. I would recommend.

Nice solid Box Drum with a great sound straight out of the box. Has a good bass and can get great dynamics out of it. Carry case robust too, fits the drum snugly and comes with handy straps for carrying drum to gigs etc.

Great sound straight out of the box

Bit of background: the cajn (which just means box in Spanish) is a Peruvian instrument, originating from the slave period when they were denied instruments. So they used the boxes coming off ships and so on. Eventually a “snare” was added, to give a bit of a snap, and further developments included changing the thickness of the front surface.
These days you can get pretty sophisticated forms of the “box”, and this one comes with two sound holes at the front, as opposed to a round one at the back guitar-style. This seems to enhance lower frequencies, and give a louder “boom” when the centre of the front is struck. You still get decent highs from the edges, and the overall tone is very good.
It looks well put together, so I’d expect this cajn to last.
It also comes with a case, which includes shoulder straps, and this is a really good idea for those street performers out there.
So would definitely recommend this one. It’s not cheap, but worth it IMO.
