If your memory of pressure cookers goes back o the Seventies and the dangerous looking gadgets bobbling away precariously on the stove, looking ready to explode at any second, then you need to think again.
This is a whole different proposition. Good looking and well built, and q own, this would grace any kitchen. And you can use it as an ordinary pan without the lid, no problem.
But use it as a pressure cooker, and suddenly your kitchen is transformed. Fast and powerful, you can cook meals in half the time. Meat falls off the bones, and food is moist and lovely. And it feels safe, too. No worry about imminent devastation.
Recommended! It will take a while to get used to it, and you DO have to ensure the seals are excited, but with a little practice, you’ll be pressure cooking with the best of them! And loving it!

A verry good looking pot.I have come to love using my range of pressure cookers , they have the same effect as slow cooking in so much less time , beef stew in under an hour and bbq ribs falling off the bone in 30 minutes !!! its such a time saver it’s rediculous. Think of the gas or electric savings people?
I have an electric one , an old style twist on lid one and now this .It’s very stylish looking in the black colour ,not heavy and comes with the added bonus of a minuit minder on the lid ,a plastic black cover hides all the bits underneath to give a clean look to the top and the handle twists to lock the top for cooking, the instruction booklet is small and details how to use the pot itself but as a guide take off 70% of the cooking time you usually use and you get a good idea.
chick peas cook in 15 minutes! garden peas steam in 4mins
The lid is really the selling point here as it is so much easier to close with a twist , the older style can be a pain to line up and close and this is so much simpler.
If you haven’t tried pressure cooking or have an old style one you should really try this one and the food tastes so much better as it cooks so quickly sealing it all i

I have a Tower electric pressure cooker, which has been getting constant use in my kitchen for several months now. I do appreciate the set it and forget about it aspect of an electric version, so how does this compare?

Probably the main immediate advantage is that you can use the stove top cooker as a big pan much more effectively while searing food long before you put the pressure lid on. As you have complete control over the heat the option is to use the pan for as much of the recipe in a conventional manner, before deciding to finish off with the pressure on. Honestly, I’ve started out with the intention of pressure cooking eg some chicken curry and after faffing about adding ingredients etc. I ended up never actually using the pressure cooker function at all.

But you can also be much more straightforward, and throw your ingredients in, making sure you have enough liquid added, put the lid on, set your desired pressure and once you hit that, turn the heat down. Because I’m cooking on gas I do feel a lot more of an inclination to watch it the whole time, whereas I’m happy enough to leave the electric pressure cooker to do its own thing. Maybe that’ll change as I use it more.

Honestly, it’s a surprisingly versatile item, once you get the hang of it.
