We were looking for a new chess set something that would be more of a feature for our living room and came across this set on another site, it was 100 more than Amazon’s seller so we got it here. Really lovely looking set, the weight of the peices is great and the movement as you play the game engages children and adults alike as it feels more alive. When it is sat on the sidetable it looks lovely and often gets positive remarks. Love it.
This chess set is not only functional but is also absolutely beautiful. We have it on our coffee table so it’s a great decoration but then also great for playing a game.

Such a good looking chess set, very modern but with that lovely feel you get from hand crafter wooden pieces. Easy to play with and it’s almost impossible to mess up where you’re putting them etc overall a very good set and I won many a brownie point by getting this for my fianc.

I bought this chess set for its uniqueness and quirkiness and the quality and weight of the item is outstanding. What I didn’t bargain for was just how the uniqueness was going to benefit our particular home. We have 5 dogs and they are all very needy and forever want to be close to you which doesn’t bode well when you are in a game of chess at a crucial point and they brush past the table and knock all the pieces flyingnot so with this chess set. Dogs can brush as much as they want..the chess pieces just rock ferociously but never ever fall off or move position!. It is simply fabulous and a must for pet owners who like to get into serious challenge matches whilst managing the affections of their fur babies.
This is a fantastic quality chess set! Kids and adults love this board it is a real statement piece. Pieces and board are beautifully made.
Just wish they did a wobbly droughts set to go on the board too!
Despite some small flaws this was a great chess set, mo son really loves it. The only thing that was a definite egative was the fact that it was not shipped in a new separate boxthe shipping labels were stuck directly onto the original box rendering the box unusable

It’s super cool, but the pieces wobble SOOOOOOO much that it’s impossible to have a serious game with it.. it’s so distracting with constant movements as the slightest touch causes every piece to wobble..
But it is a very cool show piece.. a work of Art really
I think this is the most beautiful looking chess set to have on display. As one other reviewer also had, I have 1 piece that doesn’t sit perfectly upright. But it’s not a big deal, since the squares on the board are curved. So it’s easy to position the piece within the square (not noticeably off-centre), so that it sits upright nicely.

There’s a lot of things that I like about this chess set. The design, the modern style pieces, great design for the base of the pieces. Love the way that they can’t fall down or tilt over. Unique design on the chess board with crater style squares. Very nice!
Absolutely fantastic, they do wobble and it is very hard to get them to fall down. The only con is that they do tilt off to the side instead of being perfectly upright. This is a little distracting but other than that it is a beautiful functional piece of artwork!
Great chess set! Seems to be well made and love the way the pieces stay out should you need to move the board.

Definitely one to leave on show and a smile inducing conversation piece. My daughter who is not a big chess fan, immediately wanted to have a couple of games and couldn’t leave the pieces alone.
The pieces look enough like regular Staunton style to not be distracting, although I did manage to confuse my Queen for my bishop in the first game!
Not the sort of thing to be moved on a regular basis, as it is quite heavy. Once everything starts wobbling it becomes a bit of a cabaret. It’s like carrying a shallow tray full of water.
The box and foam insert is very nice too, although because mine was a discounted Amazon Warehouse purchase, it was in less than perfect condition.
Only negative is that you’d don’t get an additional pair of Queens for pawn promotion. At this price I would expect that.

Bought this for our very wiggly seven year-old, who loves to play chess but often knocks pieces over accidentally. This has solved that problem completely! Our cats, on the other hand, think it might be a toy for them… 🙂 Really well made; I expect it will be around long enough for our son to play with his children someday.
Joli produit bien fini, fait de bois et mtal, les alvoles du plateau de l’chiquier le rende trs original, les pices culbuto rappellent les bidibules de notre prime enfance trs chouette ! Love this chess set. I have it in my office waiting room and it’s a nice simple more sophisticated decorative piece to engage clients waiting and it looks good.
Ich nutze es allerdings eher als Deko-Objekt. Zum wirklichen Spielen nutze ich dann doch lieber ein “flaches” Brett ohne Gewackel. Wenn man nmlich nicht alle Figuren geduldig austariert, sieht das Brett nicht hochwertig sondern nur chaotisch aus.

It is a nice piece of decoration for your studio or living room, but definitely it is not meant to be played as the pieces wobble which makes it impossible to play with.
Beau, design et moderne, le plateau de jeu garde un cot naturel grce sa composition en bois. Le cot ondul du plateau lui donne un caractre “unique”.
J’avais une lgre crainte sur les parties chromes des pices, mais ce n’est finalement pas trop drangeant.
D’un point de vue pratique, l’utilisation n’a rien de plus complique qu’avec un plateau de jeu normal. Les pices sont parfaitement quilibres et ne tomberont pas, moins que vous n’agissiez en ce sens.
Au vu du poids des pices, je crains toutefois que de lgers coups ne viennent abimer le plateau de jeu sur le long terme. Je pense qu’un peu de dlicatesse restera de mise.
Je suis trs satisfait de cet achat.

Plateau trs joli, pices originales aux finitions correctes (teinte des pices noires un peu claire sur mon exemplaire par rapport aux photos), jeu trs apprci par les enfants.
j’adore le principe de pices culbuto. Les pices sont belles et faciles distinguer les unes des autres. J’aime bien le ct culbuto qui met un peu de fun dans le jeu. La finition de l’chiquier est parfaite.
Magnifique, supers finitions, emballage trs serieux, chaque pice est dans un gros mousse. Rien a redire c est un super objet!

Similar to one of the the other reviewers here, same piece, same color, they might have some problem with the white queen bases during manufacture.
The colors are also quite similar to each other and it would have been good to have a darker wood for black, like ebony.
But on the whole, this is an excellent curio, a well made set and gives us a lot of pleasure while we use it and also when the set is lying on the coffee table unused
